003calls um close close denominations we only have one for uh Mr Rose so miss Charles Pierre I'm sorry you said you're doing a roll call roll call vote abstain Mr fetter Mr Gruber Mr cough Mr Rose yes Mr Weiss metal okay Mr Rose has been re-elected as your president for the year Mr Rose if you can join me we'll do an oath thank you repeat after me [Music] uh Sherman Rose who's solemnly affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of New York and I will Faithfully discharge the duties of president of the Board of Education of the East Ramapo Central School District according to the best of my ability thank you thank you to my colleagues my next order of business is nominating a vice

004president of the Board of Education do I hear any nominations I will nominate Miss Charles Pierre we have nomination we'll have a second by Mr fader welcome Mr feder um Kathy we're doing a roll call any other nominations I apologize any other nominations hearing none we will now move to roll call Kathy Miss Charles Pierre um I'll abstain I mean I'm not going to vote for myself okay Mr fetter yes Mr Gruber Mr koth Mr Rose yes Mr weissmandel yes so miss uh Charles Pierre if you can join me to do the oath please hi Sabrina Charles Pierre do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of New York and that I will Faithfully discharge duties of vice president of the Board of Education

005of the Eastern Apple Central School District according to the best of my ability congratulations okay moving on to the appointment of officers of the to the board we can we're going to do one motion for one to three I will now make a motion to do the appointments for Section d one through three do I have a second second by Mr Weiss Mandel and discussion all those in favor say aye and on oppose of staying motion carry motions carry moving on to the appointment of board committees so I believe Kathy gave out to each each board member the previous committees they were on um if you'd like to stay in the same committees you were on last year right Kathy what are we going to do about that it's it's further to reference sometimes they

006want to know who was on which committees they can ask to stay on the same committee they could ask to change to a different committee the new board members so the the only thing that um there's uh automatic is the president is chair of the audit committee and it's a committee of the whole so all the board members are a member of the audit committee okay so I would ask everyone to look over the list and let Kathy know which committee they'd like to be a part of Kathy I'd like to stay in the same communities I was on last year okay you have another one okay maybe maybe it would be faster if if the board members just wanted to say yay or nay on the athletic committee is there anyone here tonight who

007was on who doesn't want to stay on that's Mr Weiss Mandel and Miss Charles Pierre before we before we go on with the Committees um I just have a question will these committees be active this school year I think the only committee that was really active was the policy committee but other than that they have been no other meetings put in place throughout the school year for these committees the policy committee everything but the policy committee is organized between the superintendent and the board members to agree on when they want to meet so I would say you want them to be more active make sure that you talk to Dr Ellis and let him know that indicate what kind of frequency you'd like to meet is that fair doctor we had we had something in

008place prior so I just assumed we would follow what we had in place where we meet whether it's every month every two months depending on the committee and um the issues going on vice president trust me if you can get me that the schedule that was in place prior I'll take a look and we can reinstate those okay thank you okay for for board members who are not here tonight I think that we should not put them on a committee they can let us know and we can put them on a committee with a motion at a subsequent meeting rather than presume that we know how they feel the exception to that is Mr Grossman told me he wanted to remain on the same committees as last year he told me that today so Atletico

009then I would have Mr weissmandel Miss Charles Pierre do you want to stay on that one athletic yes yes yes okay and Mr Rose is automatically chair of the audit committee the curriculum committee all the people who were on last year are are uh yeah everything as well last year I would like to stay on anything I was on last year okay so we we have no one right now to go in curriculum committee if there's someone who'd want to be on it or we can check with Miss Lavelle and Miss Mrs McGill following the meeting to see if they want to stay and and just uh for Mr Fetter as a point of information you can ask to be on any of these committees you could pick a couple you want tonight you can

010think about it and as I said a board member can always be appointed to a committee part way through the year oh thank you great for facilities Miss Charles Pierre did you want to stay on that one uh yes okay and Wellness we'll have to see what Miss avell wants to do Medicaid Mr koth did you want to be stay on that okay all of them okay all right uh District policy committee Miss Charles Pierre stay yes and Mr Rose did you want to stay I mean the president has always ex-official member of all the Committees if he chooses he or she chooses yeah I I like I said whichever one I was on last year all right technology uh Mr Rose and Miss Charles Pierre yes yes okay uh Miss Charles Pierre yes Mr

011Gruber and we will need a new representative to the board of uh teacher Center policy board anyone who would like to do that or you can all see if Miss Lavelle wants to move from alternate to the representative but then we would need a second person so we'll see what she says the Rockland County School boards Association Mr Grossman wanted to stay Miss Charles Pierre did you want to be an alternate still yes building visitation Mr weissmandel did you want to stay on that and the diversity equity and inclusion committee Miss Charles Pierre yes and Mr Rose yes thank you so those are the Committees that the board has I can check then with Miss Lavelle and Mrs McGill and we can adjust them going forward if we need so we just need a motion

012to appoint those people to the board committee says noted okay so I would like to make the motion to point the above members to the respective Committees of a second by Mr car for those in favor say aye and on a positive staying motions carry moving on to section F of their appointments as previous we can do this All in One motion so do I hear a motion for one through nine sorry I move the motion Mr Gruber second we have a second second by Mr Weiss Mandel any discussion on this uh yes I have a question um I know we talked about looking going through an RFP for Council have that been put in place repeat the question um vice president I know we've talked about um doing an RFP for Council to see

013what else is out there have that have we been looking have there has an RFP been put out or no what I could what I can um the question was have we has it been an RFP for Council what I can tell you is that um from our one of our last executive sessions um we had agreed um that we would stick with uh we would go with Honeywell law because of the institutional knowledge that um um Mr gerhardt had without our organization we didn't want to go with any laps however we um also wanted to maintain a relationship with Harris Beach um particularly in the arena of special education um due process Council um and also with Labor Relations we also have um Hawkins deal field that does our school bond Council that that's

014what we had that's what we had decided as a as a cabinet okay we have a motion and a second for one through nine all those in favor say aye aye and I'm going to pose abstained okay I didn't want to say no for number one foreign motions carry moving on to section g designations I'll make the motion for one through three do I have a second by Mr Gruber any discussion just question on number one official depository um on the content it says class what's class that's um New York class so that um Bank actually consolidates funds from different districts and municipalities to maximize on interest income so it's basically more like um it's it's readily available for a transaction but it helps us maximize interest income and most districts use New York class

015and there's another one that I can't think of but that maximizes on interest so it pulls the funds from different municipalities it's New York class so it should have the NY in front of for it yeah and we've used them in the past I'm sorry have we used them in the past yeah ever since I've been here and and longer than that okay but it's called New York class not class yeah class number two it doesn't show you which one is the I can't see which oh okay I'm sorry my bad I do see it okay we have a motion and a second all those are favors say I one through three I and I'm a positive stain motion carries moving on to section H authorizations do I have a motion one through five motion

016move I miss a wise Mandel I'll second any discussion all those in favor say aye anyone who pulls abstained motions carry moving on to item I we're doing the motion on this on our own what's on yeah I will now make a motion for item number one insurance coverage I have a second second by Mr Weiss Mandel and I'm sorry Mr feather any discussion all those in favor say aye and on a positive stain motion carries moving on to section J to have a motion one through six motion one through six move by Mr Gruber do I have a second by Mr coth any discussion all those in favor say I I and I'm an opposes abstain motions carry I will now make a motion to adjourn the organizational meeting and we will open up

017the regular meeting afterwards we have a second by Mr group of all those in favor say aye motion carry on now occultic order the public hearing and regular meeting of the Board of Education will now move on to a presentation of a superintendent Dr Ellis about the long-term strategic academic and fiscal plan thank you thank you president Rose uh good evening you all my name is Dr Clarence Ellis superintendent of East rampo Central School District glad you're all here so um before I uh like to go on I just want to make an acknowledgment um and please bear with me we had a a fire in the in the neighborhood for some long-standing um establishments that I think will be surely missing I hope they can recover and God bless their families I like to

018take a moment to acknowledge with great regret the loss of two valued and long-standing local businesses this past week Kathy's Bagels and Pepe's Pizzeria recently suffered devastating loss as a result of fires which broke out in both businesses the businesses these both were vibrant businesses that have been long-standing parts of each rampo community on behalf of the district I just wanted to express our thanks to the great service provided over the years and wish everyone affected um much hope in the future uh and and I want to thank them and thank you all for for being with me so now we'll go on for tonight a discussion of the long-term fiscal and academic plan first to provide some background um chapter 123 of the laws of 2021 requires the commissioner the commissioner of the New

019York State education department to appoint up to two monitors to provide oversight guidance technical assistance all related to educational and fiscal policies practices programs and decisions of the district the Board of Education also known as the board and the superintendent the monitors are Consultants to the district which is responsible for paying the salaries of the monitor as well as reasonable and necessary costs of the monitor's work so that's one key responsibility of the monitor is to work with the district to develop and annually revise the long-term strategic academic and fiscal plan um all of most of the community members and all of the ones that are regular attendees here you know uh that's something we've been working on for the last two years it's like so now the structure of the plan is organization assurances

020introduction District Mission Vision shared value statement the processes are discuss District public hearing Community advisory committee uh theory of action General findings now the updates to the plan will focus on on the three the last three items on this this screen which are governance and Leadership the long-term academic goals measurable Executives and Improvement strategies the long-term fiscal goals measurable objectives and Improvement strategies so the board and the monitors will conduct a public hearing encourage Community input consider the input of community before revision by the monitors in the district we will submit the plan and the updates to the commissioner for approval along with the comments made by the community as stated by law the updated plan will become an addendum to the district's plan and recommendations will supersede and replace those contained in Prior versions

021so this is where is the plan we have printed copies located today on the side table you can request from the district clerk you can or we can print electronically we have electronic copies on the district website which is www.ercsd.org there's and they're also on the New York State Education website available after and only after commissioner Rose's approval approval so the structure of this long term a strategic plan feedback is as follows the recommendations for the 2023-2024 school annual plan and Community feedback we'll begin tonight July 11th and it will close on next Tuesday July 18th how do you give feedback in print you can email your district clerk as QV uh KTV ercsd.org you can buy mail or you can drop off to the district clerk at East rampo Central School District at this

022present location 105 South Madison Avenue Spring Valley New York 10977 you can also provide feedback electronically through the district website again www.ercsd.org or you can use the QR code now these are examples of the community feedback form they look as follows they will State Community feedback form for school year 2023 2024 East Maple Community School District long-term strategic academic and fiscal plan it's pretty self-explanatory but it will ask you for your direct input next slide the actual feedback forms are as follow under you'll have one for governance and Leadership another for academics curricula and a third for a fiscal so the next steps so again tonight is the public hearing we open up uh for feedback from the community in print by mail you can drop off at the district office as well again the

023public comment closes next Tuesday July 18th beginning July 19th the public comments will be reviewed by our cabinet bless you by our cabinet in July and August the plan will be submitted for Board of Education approval primarily preliminarily as well as then um at the following meeting um after July 11th this meeting as required by law so again the community feedback begins tonight July 11th it ends next Tuesday July 18th so we look for public comment for this public hearing representative the Strategic plan residents to give me the opportunity to address the board of education so please be mindful that all of the questions and comments must be directed to the board of education and that the board will not in general answer questions at the same time in which they opposed each speaker will

024be allowed to address the board once for for a maximum of three minutes so comments for now will be specifically uh particularly related to the long-term strategic and academic plan will we have someone on site um if anyone from the community needs help navigating or need help to answer these questions yes yes foreign thank you Dr Ellis I will now open up the floor for public comment yes excuse me Mr President there weren't no one signed up to speak to the public hearing the only speakers who signed up spoke for the regular public speaking okay hearing that there were no speakers I'll now make a motion to adjourn the public hearing on the long-term strategic plan do I have a second by vice president Charles spear all those in favor say aye and on a

025positive same motions carry I will now call to order the regular meeting do I hear a motion for public speaking move by vice president Charles Pierre I'll second all those in favor say aye motion carries speaker number one first of all what happened at the board meeting with voting of the camps it's ashonda what you guys are doing I don't know what you think you're doing and I don't think you understand that you don't have the power or authority to re-vote if it wasn't tabled back to the table or if it wasn't said that we could vote later for something for the camps the misuse of the authority from the private school community board members is atrocious it's ashonda you want to read up Robert's Rules of Order do me a favor educate yourself attorney

026your file for letting it happen Okay this is wrong and it's misuse of your board member Authority you can't do that once something has passed it has passed I have several parents calling me up hispanic that is saying they are being refused in education students with IEPs students with disabilities and have handed the district paperwork from them parents giving me authorization to speak on a parent's behalf students were home suspended protecting themselves because they were bullying not getting biology classes and for those that want to comment there's plenty of proof okay I do have the proof teachers not giving assignments students at home not learning a student with special needs getting yelled at in Spring Valley High School today by the principal and the parent calling me crying because that child's supposed to have one-on-one

027and doesn't have it so are we now denying children an education please tell me what's going on here because that's against New York state law the Department of Education says a child with an IEP is supposed to get what's on the IEP not one but two children I got several more lists to go children that are home are supposed to get an education I've got proof that they don't I got proof that teachers haven't given them homework then when you're suspended the school district is sending out letters saying they have to bring an attorney on New York State Department of Education website it doesn't say an attorney it says somebody a council to represent meaning counsel to represent I've seen two letters so far and I'm going to see more tonight and this weekend that

028say the child must bring an attorney what the heck is going on here with you guys intimidating the parents ninth grade assistant principles threatening the parents they can't afford attorneys every single individual whether they're documented or undocumented has a right to an education and a right to a fair hearing which the district is not giving them I'm done thank you speaker number two [Music] hi my name is tender buses we clean for next year so to be safer thing thank you thank you hello it's me Destiny again I hope you missed me guys um transport transportation is concerned concerning for me a lot I have asthma since I was very small the buses well most of them don't have working ACS because you know how it's like summer and we're going like for Summer Schools

029or like back to school and there's like it's like very hot sometimes because they're like there's daises that is like really hot and you sweat so we need ACS um did you did you know that 13 students had a asthma attack due to how hot the buses were at the end of the school year and did you know that none of the buses drivers stopped to assist the students thanks to them sharing their medical condition to their friends they assisted them a child had to assist other child my point is that if a child has a medical condition the bus driver should know the same as the school do too thank you thank you speaker number three hello everyone I'm a concerned parent and I hope you guys missed me too we were away for

030a little bit um so I have couple concerns as you know mental illness is a vivid true thing and it happens to all of us in any time of our lives now the concern is about the children because they're the most vulnerable population right and we're here for them um so I have some resources that I suggest strongly that the district actually works with so my recommendations to work with nami Nami is an awesome non-profit organization that is bilingual and also they have helped my family through the situation that we recently had too also the Rockland County Department of Mental Health there's a thing called children's boa coordinators and also the partnership for safe and healthy Youth Center also the coordinators for the suicide prevention Coalition those are amazing helps that a lot of our

031parents and I mean the majority parents do not know that these resources are here and since the district can't provide these Services they're actually Services here in Rocklin and we should support them and also bring them they have a lot of great information and resources that can save lives literally save lives um and I bet some of you don't know because you don't walk into the high schools or middle schools and elementary schools and don't know even a seven-year-old 10 year olds 17 year olds want to commit suicide and that's a thing and they shouldn't be trying to inflict harm to themselves because there are so many adults that should be caring about them the next thing that I have a kudos to whoever is doing social media on the renovations are going on District

032that is very important I'm in social media and that's a great way to communicate with the community that's amazing I saw some Renovations but will the renovations be ready for the school year um hopefully you guys can give an update about that because we don't want a situation that happened last year with the kitchens and gyms and so on to be happening this year without us knowing truly um keep using social media that's a great method I'm also bored and I mean every single person not only Sabrina not only Miss Ashley not only Mr Mcgill and I see Dr Ellis in there not only them need to be in the schools but also work with the ptas and PTs ptsas are so essential to our community okay now I'm telling you because I'm part of

033the PTA in three schools and I haven't seen most of you in there trust me if I am a PTA president or a part of it and I haven't seen you guys that is pathetic um but besides that multiple districts in the state in the state and other states have a policy on that the people that majority of the people that should be on the board should be parents we have something to lose and is our children's education so um I just want to say welcome because we haven't met yet you monitor please with the other monitor which he's not here um hopefully he's well um please also try to bring back the groups that we were having last year for the parents with the monitors parents with the superintendent but also to be bilingual

034because it's very important that the whole Community can be their public and private because I believe that's also private schools need better education and you never know I can run for a placement there you know I'm part of the community like likewise you're a part of community here but the point is we all have to work as a community we have failed the children too much and it's we need to stop seriously thank you thank you [Applause] you will now move on to the superintendency report Dr Ellis thanks again so as we start all of our open meetings we start off with a reading of our mission uh statement and vision statement as a unified Community the East rapple Central School District is committed to educating the whole Child by providing a healthy safe supportive

035engaging challenging learning environment our vision is that we'll become proficient in all that we do foreign goals are number one success in the early years as a found early foundational education is the key for completion of our high school commencement uh goal to again a healthy safe supported supported engaged and challenge learning environment goal three that we develop motivated confident and empowered critical thinkers goal four we have we want our students to have Mastery in all academic subjects as well as the Arts and I want to tip my hat to Nick earlier for his rendition of the um additionally goal five our high school graduation Readiness for College and Career is critical as we want our children to be able to succeed in college and have success on the job market and have a marketable

036skill so again for our 2023 2024 commitments they are as follow the three major commitments commitment number one is academic and instructional where our goal is to continue to accelerate academic achievement and improve student outcomes goal number two is social emotional learning we look at social emotional support as well as mental health supports for our students and their families and community members and operations are finally to prioritize the health safety and Welfare of all of our students our staff and families by renovation and upkeep of our all of our school buildings and school related facilities so I just like to First say to the community thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you for allowing us to pass our budget um on our second go around thank you again um so

037we just want to run a video for you guys so you can see uh what our kids feel what our staff feel [Music] thank you thank you thank you [Music] thank you [Applause] thank you Israel for approving the revised 2023-24 school budget we appreciate Teresa [Music] hey again I mean it was it was super that the community came together for for that for our common good and so we because we know we know as a community how difficult it is to um to function and and facilitate operational programs and academic programs underway of a uh austerity budget or a contingency budget so again I want to I really want to offer my thanks to my team does as well so we like to remind everybody that registration you know registration on the registrar's office is

038huge in this District um as we know there'll be an uptick in registration or summer hours for July and August on Mondays through Thursdays are 8 30 to 3 our regular hours are 8 30 to 3 30 from Monday through Friday so registrations will will include families can register in person or online the appointments are recommended a committee of special education registration should be in person they also will um facilitate address changes that can be completed at the registration office I think that's critical if families have made Moves In Their residents within the year or by the time the school ended before the start of the new school year so that way we can know that provide adequate Transportation coverage there'll be online services you can contact our office via email our online services include

039registration as well as highlighting what is the supporting documentation those submissions can be by email as well the office phone numbers are 845-577-6066-6067 the emails are M Salvador efcsd.org and uh K O'Brien ercsd.org that is the new director of our registration office we realize how huge registration is in this District so we decided to um create a position of a director to to really let the committee know how important it is because that the registration process is still part of the education process highlighting children making sure they get the right services and the right placement all takes place at registration next slide um can you just go back for a second can I make a recommendation that we send this out to the parents whether it be by robocall rewind and post it on our

040website and social media so that they're aware that this is thank you and um next slide so we also want the committee to know that we're offering uh free meals to all children in East Ramapo um 18 years of age or under the site locations are um Spring Valley High School will be from July 5th to August 17th Mondays through Thursdays breakfast 8 30 to 9 A.M lunch 12 P.M to 1 p.m Pomona Middle School July 10th through August 17th again Monday through Thursday 8 39 pm and lunch will be 12 P.M to 1 p.m cacciat steam Academy July 10th August 17th Monday through Thursday 8 30 to 9 p.m for breakfast 12 P.M to 1 p.m for lunch Chestnut Middle School um uh July 10th to August 17th again Monday through Thursday 8 39

041a.m for breakfast 12 P.M to 1 pm for lunch in Elmwood in Elmwood intermediaries Intermediate School July 6 August 17th that's Monday through Friday 8 30 9 A.M for breakfast 12 P.M to 1 p.m for lunch and just to be clear when you say offered to all children that's whether they're in our summer program or not correct yes okay both children 18 years okay so okay I would like to make the same recommendation that this be shared and publicized will do thank you so now um I also want to share some important information for funding support our household income eligibility form that's what we used to call the lunch forms and um we it's it's critical that our community members our families complete those forms as they support our Title One funding and with that

042we use advanced placement exam we get exam exam Advance placement exam discounts it's also will offer us potential to maintain free lunch program we have Universal lunch now and historically in districts that Acquire Universal lunch there is a downtick in their completion of their household income eligibility forms everybody feels that you know because we have Universal um once there's no need for these forms these forms um generate Federal funding for us so that's critical that we have those forms updated where you get the forms and we can offer it to you in the mail it's amazing it's also mailed to each household in September you can pick it up at the registration office it will be in a registration packet um school guidance counsels in the school main office you can also access the form

043on our website uh www.ercsd.org forward slash domain forward slash 42 where to drop off the forms um use the include postage page envelope address to Food Services office our family resource coordinators are a source to collect the forms as well as the school cafeteria again these are critical that they are completed and updated as it shows right now we have our forms don't represent the true economic need that our our district really really um is experiencing so this will help all of us now I would like to turn this a part of the superintendence report over to our assistant superintendent of business uh Natalie espinal this is just a summary of the construction occurring this summer at the following locations El Dorados having the kitchen Hood replacement and flooring abatement and Fleetwood the same as

044well as Grandview Summit Park and limetown Hempstead is having flooring abatement and replacement projects as well we have Jacobs our construction manager here that will go over a construction update towards the end of the superintendent's report let's just highlight that are eastbound watching Bad and Elementary show choir or performing um this Sunday July 16th at Clover Stadium at 3 P.M the New York Boulders um in Spring Valley as well as the Nyack NAACP um present Negro Leagues baseball tribute um we have also provided transportation for 400 of our children to attend I think this is going to be an awesome event and um it's it's it's truly a well-timed event and much needed to show Community that we value the contributions of our negro Elite Pioneers baseball I just want to add to it um

045I'm on the committee for this and I just wanted to add that our East Rand Paul softball team will be honored or recognized that evening for winning the championship and also the locations for the transportation will be Spring Valley High School Grandpa High School the MLK Center and the village of Spring Valley Valley as I was mentioned we're looking for we can only take we're taking looking for 400 students there will be a Google form that will be put out for students to fill out and they will check off the locations that they would like to take the bus they'll receive food voucher for hot dog chips and soda and you know we just hope to see everybody there thank you thank you Miss also Smith we will make sure that we get the locales

046up on the uh on the website and broadcast it throughout the community as well so I'd like to um at this time call our director safety Mr Tom carton [Music] um to the Deus or to the to the podium actually to the podium we're on a Deus that's the podium thank you Tom thank you Dr Hills the finishing school year will train the entire Security Department the use of the automatic external defibrillator the idea is to get more people trained in the buildings should we ever need it and also Narcan Narcan is now being described prescribed by New York State Health Department for various other reasons so the idea is to get more people trained next year we're going to start training the staff excuse me unstop the bleed it's just we have a security

047Navy Department every building the idea is to have trained professionals there right away thank you thank you for that Tom uh let's see do we have defibrillators in all the buildings or they're only trained one in every uh every school and here in the uh the main building who maintains batteries and pets that's maintained by the nursing coordinator nurses must check them every month thank you I know you said the security guard the train staff are also trained correctly right they still accept members of training yes the nursing staff are trained the coaches a trained uh numerous teachers to train now we have Security in there because they're always in the hallways and I would even include the custodians if possible we could do the training for the custodians that I I could arrange that

048that's not a problem okay thank you Tom so our East Rambo summer literacy challenge Dr waha you want to jump in not a problem so once again we are pleased to announce the summer reading challenge that our children love so we just want to let everyone know that summer reading challenge started earlier this year it was introduced by a library media Specialists and reading teachers during the towards the end of the school year as well as all the classroom teachers so instead of having just one challenge which last year we had the Mayan challenge we're at the first board meeting of the year we congratulated our students if we remember instead of just having one challenge we're having two so one is on my own with digital books so students can read and if you

049can see the leaderboard there since um the start we have 453 books read as of July 1st so congratulations to those young people that are listening online continue to read and then we also have Alexia introduced Lexia helps us with our reading development as well as language development for our English language Learners so we ask parents if you haven't heard of Lexia ask your children to get them on the software beginning from beginning July 1st to August 18th summer reading challenges prizes forthcoming right about to say okay good are all the students aware of the challenge that's out I haven't heard my son mention it so well ask your son [Music] because this was introduced towards the end of the year and then we're going to still do the continue to do the same publication

050we did last year so last year I'm sorry I know it was introduced what I'm saying is do they know that it continues throughout the summer oh no it was introduced towards the end of the year for the summer so it was introduced to the Summer Challenge was introduced towards the last weeks of the year we did it early this year last year we did it during the summer correct this year we said let's introduce it begin it as a school year ends and then we're going to continue with the same communication during the year during the summer so that we can get the same number or actually more than last year okay thank you Dr Wilde and now we'll go with our Opera project update um Mr Lawson how are you excited to give

051an update on the uh the arpa project and construction progress um we'll be giving another update next month as well unless you ask us back sooner there's been a lot of work already going on at six schools I'll give you a quick overview of the presentation project update wise uh going over summer 2023 work is our main focus here I'll give you an overview a quick overview Item B Construction Financial update I think you'll all be interested in in seeing that and seeing where we're tracking overall and then item C project schedule overview by phase I can definitely provide some insight on kitchenhood status on flooring status kitchen equipment status of that as well I know that's always a topic but uh and I think we can give you a few few assurances along the

052way at this point anyway um and then item D I want to show you a floor plan and show you a couple pictures of each school and how things are progressing we currently have eight Personnel in the fields we have three interns um from various colleges with programs we we do that as part of our program as well they help us with daily reports right along with a supervisor with them all the time and I just thought you'd want to hear that I can let you know which institutions they go to one's Penn State we have another one at University of Texas Austin and we have another one at Manhattan College who's returning for a second year moving on from there this slide you've seen before I think it's similar to Natalie's slide that she

053previously had up there the only thing that's different about this one which should be removed is item seven Elmwood at the very end of the year we decided due to summer programs it was better for us to not work in Elmwood even though we had work that we needed to do there it was more conducive probably in the realm of 80 to 100 000 worth of air conditioning that was going to be half have to be implemented and decided not to make that move but to invest it in the classrooms instead and that is I believe we're one of your major summer programs is occurring in 20 plus classrooms is that is that correct yeah so moving on quickly as you know we're in six schools right now I can name them in a moment

054actually I can go back and name them they are El Dorado Fleetwood Grandview Summit Park Lime Kiln Hempstead uh so those are the six of which each one of those and several others all of the elementary schools as I understand are receiving new furniture as well and we're trying to accommodate that throughout the summer I have some good news on that front which we may be able to do more than anticipated because right now Grandview is tracking we have actually tracking ahead of schedule we may be able to advance that and we want to actually talk tomorrow to the furniture people to see if we can advance that and then allow maybe one or two other schools to take grandview's place if we advance it by a week we can get the new furniture in

055there and see if they can accommodate us on that I know we have to be about a month out to notify them but that's our goal is to get as many new furniture projects installed before the end of the year and then whatever we can't get to due to construction we will do thereafter so moving on obviously there's a significant amount of coordination with not only custodial I.T staff Mr thurnow the architect the district with contractors and District staff including principals this slide for some reason got a little uh distorted but I'm going to give you some stats on what this slide represents I apologize for that um I don't know how it got distorted but um there's a number in there that says um 48 million 442 566. um we aren't at that number

056yet our goal is to get to the 77 million dollar number that is where uh the that's the max that's the arpa funding that we have right now in construction costs and we're doing everything we can to be fiscally responsible about encumbering and completing as much of that work by the arpa deadline that Edline is a fixed deadline we cannot ask for any more we can ask for it but we'll be likely denied any time extension so we're really racing against the clock to uh to make the 77 million dollar expenditure uh in the best way in the in the way that we've described to date here what's being done with the old furniture from the the district that the furniture program is the districts program so um Miss uh District could probably answer that

057question for you but um right now we're in charge of coordinating with them because we're in charge of moving it out and then and then moving the existing furniture back in but if they tell us not to move it back in then we will it'll be select items teachers desks bookcases things like that are going back no matter what it's mainly students student tables desk and chairs they're being moved to storage before any determination is being made directly truck to the storage okay thank you so just to continue on this slide again sorry for the Distortion it wasn't me um as of as we are currently stand here right now we're 44.8 percent either completed and or encumbered with work um if you pass the resolution tonight uh for 13.9 million for marquettes and khakiat

058schools with over 105 unit ventilators being replaced and if you do the math times probably 25 students per classroom upwards of probably as a maximum you're at you're you're pushing over 2500 students being impacted in a positive way with definitely improved indoor air quality in that much of the district that's probably getting close to a quarter of your District it's a significant significant Improvement and if that passes today we will proceed with that that'll be 2024 summer work and we'll be at 62.8 percent encumbered at that point and or completed following that we have additional work at Spring Valley and Ramapo schools primarily focused on libraries right now that's subject to change but if that is passed at the next board meeting we could be up to 78 percent encumbered and or completed and then

059moving on from there we can add in Windows and that can I'm sorry doors and that can bring us up to 82 percent and we have all of those proposals by the way it's just a matter of giving them getting them authorized and then in front of you um towards our 100 goal but um in the next 30 to 45 days uh we think we can easily be at 82.3 percent uh encumbered on the project which is huge and I think I think everyone would agree that we don't want to give any money back to the federal government we want to invest every penny uh in this District that we possibly can and that's our mission that we canceled our um do we still we I guess we still need that work done so we

060are not going to have the funding from the federal government to do that because we pushed it off actually we've already encumbered that and next year we're going to work on that next summer and make other accommodations for air conditioning that's the current plan so it's not forgotten dozens of money from the federal government government in October September 30th uh 2024 and as we understand it plus 120 days see we've already got it we still have a year and a half for that uh September 30th 2024 so right after next summer and then as it currently stands we have 120 days beyond that but we can't encumber anything past September 30th our goal is to encumber everything essentially now within the next 60 probably 120 days [Music] because we've got some Ada improvements that we

061need to do as well and we need to package that we're going to put that on the street probably in September is the goal let the let the Summer Rush settle and then put it out on the street for public bid because there's multi-prime work in that and uh that's where we stand right now but that's the last package does that answer your question I thought it's 23 24. yeah 2024 yep these are just a few schedules this is an overview schedule I know that's small but it's there we're happy to pass it along to you it's there for viewing um on the website you can read it on the website or we can get you your own PowerPoint packages or PDFs this is the kitchen scope of work in particular we have all the

062equipment secured actually there was a phone call today about kitchen equipment and how the the vendor would like to bring it over to us and drop it off and then hook it up later we know it's secured in a warehouse and so we need a little bit more work to occur before we can bring it on site but we're considering that so the equipment will not be an issue this year uh whatsoever this schedule does show that on 9-1 it pushes it right to the end um three schools will be completed and then the other two schools that are closest to Central Kitchen um lag into the the school year about 12 well to September 12th we're doing everything we can to pull all these schedules in as much as possible probably 25 of the

063days in these schedules is for the architect to review to do punch lists to do inspection to get Rockland County to do their inspections Etc so there's there's time involved in that we're going to try to be done with the work early August the physical work that's the current schedule and we're tracking there's probably six more slides here real quickly uh got some interesting news on one of these slides I'll stop there when we get there the El Dorado is a two-story building just so you know the way that the floor plan is being attacked if you will in terms of the work is it actually good we've learned a lot from the last summer they go from one half of the second floor down to uh and then they with the abatement and then

064they flip to the other side on the second floor and then they drop down to the first floor and walk out the door once they're done okay so this just gives you an idea of some of the work that's occurring there the flooring that's being ripped out some of the casework uh that will be replaced and then moving on to Fleetwood that's moving along nicely as well that's a one-story building that's I believe one of the candidates that we can possibly have furniture move into early and and take grandview's place I have four more slides here at Grandview right now we actually have 12 classrooms that already have flooring in it and I think the last time I checked today's the 11th of July and we already have 11 classrooms where the floor has been

065replaced in its entirety um moving on from there which is amazing um moving on from there Hempstead is another one story building is a possibility we could do uh I'm sorry it's a two-story this is one that we actually have as a candidate for window replacement not only for egress reasons but due to the the nature of the fenestration on the exterior of the building so we're hoping for that as well in the next phase and then moving on we have Lime Kiln kind of a a triplet if you will uh just like some of the previous floor plans you've seen it's a two-story floor plan just like Elmwood just like one of the ones I showed you earlier two-story two to one approach or into the second phase the dark green if you will

066from the from the blue the light blue on the second floor and then one of the last buildings Summit Park primarily a one-story building you can see all the quarters are already scarified if you will um the the existing tile is removed again there's over three hundred thousand square feet of tile being replaced flooring being replaced in these schools and at least 50 percent of that is hazardous so all that's being removed along with it oh I wanted to address one last thing relative to flooring um gymnasiums have been established as the backup plan every summer with flooring work we did that last summer and we needed to use that I think twice where we focus on academic areas in getting students in the academic area is the number one priority then come cafeterias as

067the next level of priority and then come gymnasium's last so if there's any schedule issues that we run into and we run out of time before opening day we always use gymnasium's last and we will go into September if needed we try to avoid that uh with the thinking that they can still do physical activity outside for the month of or for a few days or a few weeks over September and then move them back in there as soon as possible that work typically occurs second shift but that's always our fallback is the gymnasium areas with academic is the primary focus that's all I had for today are there any questions and yes I'm sorry you're saying that the gymnasium is not considered as academic even though it's used for gym class due to them

068being able to be outdoors not saying it's not academic what I'm saying is that every project needs a relief valve and that's what the district has worked with us and and told us is where they would um if there is a relief valve that's where they want it to be with the focus on having students in their seats in every one of their academic classroom is the first priority so something has to get if something has to give it's a gymnasium at the end knowing that they could go outside and fulfill that um academic obligation so I think we run into things from time to time and in construction and we find things just just so you know in each one of the uh kitchens we ran into double the amount of abatement work than

069we anticipated on the original hazardous environmental drawings okay so you're talking 100 to 150 000 it's five locations of additional abatement that was discovered inside an existing duct work okay additionally we ran into flooring there was nine by nine tile and hazardous under existing one by ones which somehow didn't or just and got encapsulated in a previous phase or something and weren't weren't abated okay so they just went over it so we've discovered a few of those conditions as well so this is where we we need a plan B if you will a fallback in the event that we have delays relative to discovered conditions that we or the environmental engineer didn't know was there that's why we have that in place because we know we're going to run into things in existing buildings well

070you're saying that they wanted to deliver with their hoods or ovens I said that some of the kitchen equipment one is ready to deliver is that holds or ovens everything ready everything is ready definitely yes sir well thank you Miss Lawson I'd like to um really appreciate the monthly updates uh you know the clock is ticking the community knows that we it's it's vitally important that we complete this work or whatever we don't use we lose so we got to make sure that we use everything and that's why we had asked uh Mr Lawson to present on a monthly basis to just keep the community advised um to be totally transparent with the community where we are and if any adjustments need to be made we can do so in a timely enough fashion where

071we will not lose any of our funding so so thank you for that thank you we're happy to be here so as the superintendent report thank you very much Dr Ellis thank you very much Mr Lawson for the presentation and all the great staff here at this travel before we move on we should have done this right at the beginning but it has been a little busy today I'd like to extend welcome to new monitor Dr Shelley shadow welcome and we're looking forward to working together with you and uh yeah welcome um Dr Jala would you like to give a brief introduction to the public um I didn't see it uh good evening I didn't expect to speak this evening but I certainly welcomed the opportunity to say thank you I'm happy to be here

072started today actually in the district we've been doing a lot of research um but happy to be here and look forward to working with the community working with the board and working with District administration and those in the schools the most important people working with the students of the districts I look forward to learn learning listening and and hopefully supporting and helping you improve in your efforts and some of the things that I've learned today in your vision and your goals and and such that so I'm happy to be here and look forward to working with you so thank you for the greeting thank you okay now uh moving on to consent and agenda items I will now make a motion for consent and agenda items one through seven do I have a second by

073Mr weissmandel all of the famous AI I and on a positive stay motion carries moving on to action items 1 through 13 do I have a motion for Action items one through thirteen motion moved by Mr Weiss Mandel do I have a second by Mr fader will now open up for discussion any discussion uh yes um I want to start off with number eight uh where are we with the process of trying to hire people in the Personnel Department it's still an open search um right now we have um we were able to enlist the support of a consultant which was you know approved as last meeting um we have one of our assistant directors who has returned from a leave full time uh yep she's phasing back into full-time returning from attorney leave um

074and and we are we are in a continuous search for uh quality because you know it's not just about getting a body in there we need someone that number one um has uh you know exemplary background resume and pedigree and then number two someone that can has a quick learning curve to learn about the the nuances of our district and then number three ultimately has the intestinal fortitude to to stand up and be able to do what's right for the children that we serve and ultimately possesses that quality we look forward to my own childhoods like they want for the children of each Ramapo what they want for their own children so that's what we're looking for um we have that we had we had a close call we had a close call that met

075the board members thought it went well but um you know everyone has the right to to make their own decisions but we will we will um as we have in the past we will find quality staff as that's why we've been able to assemble such a a dynamic team on this day so we're going to continue until we get the right the right person and my second question for uh number eight um how is payment calculated back in January um the individual was not to exceed I believe the same amount within a six-month period the payment how is the payment calculated uh back in January this individual was given was not succeed the same amount within a six-month period here it's the same amount within I believe a two-month period and we also I believe

076approved to extend payment last month for seven thousand so how is this being calculated in terms of payment calculation um Valley so the daily rate this was a former employee so the daily rate is determined in accordance with what they similar to what they used to make for this specific individual and then so that depends on how many days they actually work so if they work more than to not exceed ten thousand dollars um they would have a limited amount of time so you know what I'm saying it depends on the the need for the support in the office which there's a lot of need in that office another position that she's assisting with is the benefits clerk that we're currently trying to fill as well the exhausted the Civil Service list and now they'll

077have to put forth efforts to recruit and I guess hire someone provisionally until someone's on the list again I don't know do you still have a question so there's a you're saying there's a so it so if we have a ten thousand dollars divided by it it's effective it was approximately 20 between that period of three months you can only work 27 days to meet that maximum so it's if she it provides a limit to how much we're paying over that term so back in January when we had her um when we had a contract with her back in January so you're saying she only worked 26 days between January and June yeah she wouldn't be allowed to exceed that amount similar to other people that we have contracts with so we provide a Max

078which allows us to budget for it okay um number nine budget transfer report I see there's a lot of Transportation transfers and also there's one here for legal sediments um can that be explained a little bit further so the one for transportation which is significant is because the two budget lines were essentially the same type of expense it was basically two budget accounts and it's the same expense so we don't need to have two Coatings for the for the budget of Transportation general transportation contract cost so we just want to consolidate that so that we don't have too many budget codes and in the new year you know we streamline and reduce our coding and what was the other one so I'm sorry sir you're saying we're we're sticking with one instead of what is

079it one two three four about eight I'm sorry so I went down to It also says on the side 22 23 is at the 22 23 school year so that so that's the residual of some of the bills that came in for specific transportation services I had jumped down to the third you see the third transfer that it has 11 million there and that's going to be Consolidated with another account they're basically the same you see they both start with the function 5540 that's Transportation contractual cost and so there was no need for two budget codes so that transfer there's no reason behind it except to consolidate the amounts you're talking about the one on the bottom the third one and the kind of what about the tub for 22-23 school year so the one

080on the top that was the need for transportation to pay the remaining bills for the school year and the legal settlement so the funds are going from additional over budgeted amounts and legal that we didn't need into the insurance which the insurance came out higher we were able to save close to 200 000 on the final amount yeah to pay the initial invoice which we paid all up front we needed to transfer that amount into our insurance code okay um number 11. um so that's a resolution for to use the rampa high school building from July 31st to August 16th I know in this year's budget we talked about redoing the bleachers and the floors at Rambo High School um I know I've asked a question has that started in terms of I guess preparation

081and trying to find someone to start the work is that something that's going to start in the summer and hopefully be done before the basketball season start or where do we stand with that yeah so with all the construction that we have occurring in the summer the capacity is difficult as far as filings with SED and just planning it out act with the architecture and the construction managers so right now we just have to focus on the use of the federal funds but and then see where we're at at a certain point within the year to plan that construction out for the gymnasiums but because there's no that's budgeted for the year but it's more important that we expend the arpa funding and and focus our efforts especially during the summer on that construction that's

082planned with the arpa funds so are you saying that it's not going to be done this year definitely not the summer but we haven't had we haven't gotten to the point of planning it out just because the Architects and the construction managers are busy with the other construction it would be the same architecture um I have to consider that too I believe so because they're involved with everything that has to be done I would think this would be separate since this is coming from the budget and not the arpa funds so that there's a separation well do we can develop the separation with an RFP we can we can develop that with a separate Bid And if we were to do that would we be able to start the process sooner than later drugs with

083everything happening we have to sit down and plan that part out because now that takes bidding out if we were going to use another architect bidding out the construction managers um there's just so many steps to even say like if you're specifically concerned with the summer and having it done for the 10 month school year there's still a lot in line so we definitely have to plan it out and aim to get it done but we have you know so so much happening at the same time so our plan was not put in place or thought of prior to this being put on the budget well it was because it was estimated two years ago by the current Architects that we have they estimated the cost and that's the only reason why we were able

084to budget it the only reason why I'm asking all these questions is because now it it looks like we kind of false advertise what was going to be on the budget and was going to be done I don't think it's false advertising because our allocation for this construction that's needed as you remember last board meeting they presented the building's condition survey I wasn't and we have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us so the only way to be able to fulfill all that the district need needs is to put it in the budget get it approved by the voters and plan it out as best as we can we were just fortunate to get so much in federal funding that we have to make sure that we use it effectively no no I understand

085what you're saying but you also have to look at it from the community's perspective and the voters and also our students um because when we were trying to get people to come out and vote for the budget a lot of the voters a lot of the students they were advocating because of the new bleachers the flooring so now that you know the budget has passed what is the next step what is the timeline right so it's the planning part the planning part so the first part is the estimate for the budget and then we couldn't take that further until it was approved so we were happy that it was approved within the budget had it not been approved we would have had to remove all those items from the budget so that no effort should

086have been placed in actual work that we would have had to pay for ahead of time so this is still very preliminary as far as having a concrete plant suit to be able to communicate as far as a timeline but we need the funds we're getting it from the general funds it's voter approved and now we just have to work out a plan for it and with that I would I would have to have the experts involved The Architects the construction managers our interim director of facilities the superintendent our monitors and just make sure that we're able to support that so when exactly will this discussion take place and once again will it be completed before the end of this I guess we you just mentioned that it won't be done by the summer so

087it won't be ready for um basketball season so will it be completed before the school year ends that's and how would that be that's what we that's what we would want but we have to work with the timeline of SED they have to approve the plan and then we can go from there but the same as we're doing with the arpa funding we would keep you updated and involved and let you know how that's moving we we want this I mean we want to make it happen as soon as possible but realistically it takes the planning of all the professionals on hand now that it was approved the budget was approved we can move forward yeah no I just wanted to say because I hear what you're saying um with that it was presented in

088the budget so with presenting in the budget what is the next steps because once people see it they want it uh do they want to see something happen immediately what we're recognizing and what we're learning even through this this Capital Improvement that we're doing for all of the buildings happening at once even with the the little knowledge that I've gone through with just the furniture itself is that the first step is securing the money the second step is now seeing the feasibility and and actually going through the plan making sure the experts are able to map it out and get the proper approvals and that takes time I think what you might be asking for is as we go through the steps keeping it on the pulse of like the superintendent reports where we are

089with that specific item so I think that would be helpful at this point right now I think what the focus has been on is providing updates to the current Capital Improvement projects that need to be executed by a certain time so I think what you're asking for is just as now that the budget has been passed where are we with the item that was proposed to the public that would be executed by the end of the year or during the year correct not only that too I would think that you know now that it's summer time and majority um you know whatever schools we are I don't know what schools we're using for summer camps but um I think the summer would have been the perfect time to plan and map out since we could

090have had it to where there's no one in the building but once students are back in the building it's going to be kind of hard to plan map out and actually do the work for it to be completed by the end of the school year and understanding that I think the scope of work we're doing right we are currently doing we are currently housing multiple programs so it would be what are we prioritizing so we have multiple programs in buildings and then we have work construction work happening the timing of the budget approval happened at a time it the budget approval the timing of things happen so that now we are as we complete our conversation about what's happening this summer we now need to revisit we're closing out the year and now we're starting

091the new year so the planning is starting this summer this is now the new year starting July 1st so the planning and thinking around these items is happening now planning for the instructional year the PD all of that stuff is happening now during the summer okay and just to be clear to um make myself clear I know we have multiple schools that that we plan on redoing the floor and bleachers but I would think that we would have made rample priorities due to the fact that they haven't they can't use the bleachers and their floor is um that's why I was in the budget yeah so that's why it was in a general budget what we're doing now is in a different plan so what is the plan now if um since that's not going

092to be done what's the plan for our Ramapo team when it comes to game time when it comes to game time I'm not as familiar with game what I can get back to you on that because when it comes to game time we have been using the facilities last year so I would assume we're going to use it in the same manner that we used it prior thank you and um because I think I think I understand the question the issue is everything is a priority in this District because our buildings were in such gross disrepair if it was if we could you know we could we would we would replace everything like that if we could now the classrooms um for a classrooms uh generated instruction are priority the gymnasiums right now are outlet

093and you know in case we have to move large items there you know last minute deliveries in light you know I understand the focus on how important Sports is in the district are extracurricular activities you know our goal is to get that completed before the years at good Tom well well true but I'm not only looking at the sports but also physical education that's what I mean because it's a class I mean I don't think it's just I don't think Sports is any less important um in any one of our other academic offerings so I think we're in agreement on that um good time I might be able to help um answer some of your questions um give you an idea Miss Aloha and Natalie and us have been working we have a matrix actually

094about the various schools and we've worked with them over the last probably three to four months to incorporate five million dollars worth of uh plus or minus um worth of new furniture into the buildings uh even amid the construction and probably just about half of your schools we've worked through that and we continue to work through that and it's it's going very well um we're implementing a lot and we actually are thinking we can advance some of the work as well based on where we are right now to address your issue your question or your inquiry um I would say plus or minus 15 days ago the budget was approved which is huge um and uh we could we would volunteer to work with the district now that the the funds and the scope of

095work has been approved traditionally process would be for then if you went the traditional route to go CS Arch without doing an RFP I'm not saying don't I'm just saying that's an option you would be able to go kind of seamlessly and employ them to create contract documents designs for the Scopes of work included in the uh in the bond in the approval for the work and then it would go to be submitted in approximately two months to New York State education department and then that's typically a four-month process of being reviewed there so you're looking at six months there and in in the meantime we would be looking at when we would like to incorporate this and as soon as it came out of SED for approval we would already be setting things up

096whether it's a public bid or whether it's direct direct procurement program to make sure things are in line budget wise to the funds available that are available and then look at our Windows of opportunity whether it be February April break many times there's a lot of activities going in in in gymnasiums and places like that or if we have to wait to maybe a one month summer window or whatever it is to replace those floors or other facilities so that would be a typical timeline if you will so maybe that addresses your your comment there um that it is a process and it would be seamlessly integrated with the arpa work and other work in the district and it would be a number one priority one other questions I'll you know my um once the

097early approvals are um you know secured um what's the length of time necessary to complete the work because I think that's also what Miss tall speaker is driving at what is that time once if you know the other processes in place that must um be adhered to um interesting because there's interesting always variables even at um I think it was Hempstead we looked at the floor and we actually sampled the floor and it has hot material underneath it so we ended up not doing any work in there because it's an existing wood floor we would anticipate the same at Spring Valley and or Ramapo if they're both on the docket I think one of them is is a gym floor wood floor replacement so that would be one of the things we would do to

098make sure we know what the existing condition is we would test that well beforehand and then we it's likely you could do that in the summer Dr Ellis when the students aren't around as much they might not be able to utilize that particular gym for certain gymnasium activities that might occur during the summer but I'm sure other middle schools or other schools could possibly suffice while that floor is being replaced somewhat but I'll I will take it offline I don't want to consume any more time with it but we just wanted to that helps that helps to know all the the other steps uh in place thank you okay thank you very much we have a motion and a second for all those in favor say aye aye and on a positive stain for which

099one of them okay um yes I'm going to say no number eight and um for the record I'm gonna say no for number 11 only because of the fact that um you were we're looking to lease the rample high school and include the gymnasium and Auditorium in our budget we plan to um do some work uh in that school and you know I I feel like you know if there was another building that could have been used for this to be done to make sure that our all kids are safe including the students who will be there for that camp um I would have been okay with it but if our students are not safe at rample high school using the gymnasium and you know this the player basketball players themselves they made it clear

100that if work is not done and completed in the gymnasium for this next school year they would not be they don't want to play in the gym so um you know I think safety comes first and we should have really looked into either finding another building or um you know taking using the fact that we said that we're going to make changes to the capital projects at arampa high school make that priority thank you motions carry did you know that the abstentions everything yeah you got yeah thank you informational reports on the board show you came just in time I would like to reflect on the re-vote and I want to commend my colleagues on the awards from four five six seven eight nine they all worked hard and they made sure that their numbers

10130 years vote went up versus the other ones the numbers rather went down for the S vote so I want to comment them all for making sure they both went down on the nose and up on the S's thank you Mr Gruber okay um written Communications is the last board meeting the board received a letter from commissioner Rosa appointing Dr Sherry Shelley shallow as a State academic monitor as you said before welcome Dr Jello I will now make a motion to enter executive session to discuss to do an update on contract negotiations and discuss a possible settlement with a particular employee we do expect action following oh second by Mr Grossman all those in favor say aye aye and on a positive stain motion carries we'll be back soon foreign okay I'd like to call

102this meeting back to order exactly um I when you have a chance Kathy if you want to if you can read out the motion please for us take your time obviously excellent right sorry um uh motion to adopt the following resolution regarding a settlement of grievance whereas the district and East Ramapo Teachers Association urta are parties too valid and binding Collective burdening Agreement CBA and whereas pursuant to the cba's grievance process erda filed for binding arbitration in relation to a matter involving a particular urta member and the assignment of additional classroom work and whereas the District of nerda have reached agreement on resolution of such matter without need for engaging binding arbitration and reduce such agreement in writing in a settlement agreement now therefore be it resolved as follows the attached settlement agreement is hereby
