okay [Music] oh [Music] two [Music] um [Music] um [Music] uh [Music] bye [Music] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] empty [Music] let our rejoicing rise [Music] has [Music] till victory as one [Applause] andre kolak from rival high school on stars mega banner and ebony from spring valley high school [Applause] [Music] okay um just to bring everyone's attention if you intend to speak tonight there are speaker [Music] at that time please move in the column of the nearest exit thank you now we took care of that back to the speaker cars there are speed cars upstairs at the entrance [Music] to be heard i also want to point out very important we are starting this year's public hearing on our long-term academic and fiscal plan this is a public hearing if you want to be heard on this
plan [Music] to discuss anything else related to the agenda or to this district there will be public speak at the beginning of the following regular meeting and i ask that you hold off and you know [Music] a lot of time to address the word at that time [Music] thank you all right dr ellis [Music] good evening and welcome to our october 5th uh board meeting and we're going to start off with a public hearing on the long-term strategic academic and fiscal plan as well as a one million dollar supplemental funding my name is dr kyra zelis i'm the superintendent of east rapport central school district i'm going to turn it over to dr denise loves one of my monitors as well as mr singer so you're going to submit the community feedback uh there'll be
written comments feedback by email the email will go to kay keavy kathy kiwi over there she's on clerk kqv at eastern central school or by district.org or personal delivery to the district clerk east ground floor central school district 105 south madison avenue new york 1977. electronic comments feedback by completing feedback form so now um we're gonna turn over to mr singer one of our state monitors is this singer [Music] thank you dr ellis name is bruce singer fiscal monitor the overview of the plan is to be developed by the board and monitors you should return consult with the district share decision making committee and community advisory board the plan will include a set of goals but appropriate benchmarks and measurable objectives identify strategies address areas where improvements are needed in the district include a comprehensive
five-year plan that describe appropriated funds to the district so this plan that you see here there's a there's a template that we've been given by sct to organize the plan and so i'm not going to go through them all that you can see what we're focusing on tonight the section the governance and leadership the long-term and academic goals measurable objectives and improving strategies along with the long-term fiscal goals measurable goals and improvement strategies so the focus is for tonight is the meat of water here so but i think it's important you know it's a long plan it's about 60 pages we have a chance to sit through it but that's the structure and the organization of the plan so when we go to governance and leadership so we're going to walk through some examples that
are in the plan so the goal is board retreat as you can see this is the measurable objective we use the smartphone format which is smart means specific measurable achievable realistic and timely so we want to make sure that we set a time frame for when these um these goals which is the work retreat will be there so if you can see by december 31st 2022 the board shall participate in a minimum of two to three board retreats and improving strategies will work with the rockland county school boards on facilitating detroit another goal that's in the plan is our dei initiative which is the diversity equity and inclusion training so as you see from this measurable role by june 30th 2022 the board shall engage in diversity equity and inclusion training the board will hire
a consultant to assist them in this process so here's another example of an academic goal and these are all in the plan we thought it was important that when you see the format of it that it is written in these types of goals so success in the early years you've all heard us that's our killers academic and fiscal plan that's from 2020 to 2025 is based on our book for pillars which um the first one is success in early years so if you look at that our measurable goal is to increase proficiency in early literacy by june 2025 so because that's part of the strategic plan so as you look at those specific improvement strategies and it's all linked you see the numbers it's all linked to the academic and fiscal plan so we want
to make sure that alignment is there because that's that's why we have a strategic plan because everything around revolves around those workflows so that particular strategy focuses on responding to literacy instruction and intervention beginning october 2021 the office of student support services will provide professional development for teachers k-6 and leaders like jordan hillian intervention strategies 60 teachers per year to strengthen pedagogical understanding around the five components of reading um which are the big five are still foundational five are still the focus uh in our district literacy is a major focus in our history um vanita boiers phonics vocabulary fluency and comprehension and leveraging instructional time to address literacy skills so that goal is measurable and it's very specific and we're telling you how we're going to do it by training our teachers and our professional
staff around those areas of the big okay so here's another one um go for mastery of academic subjects and the arts you look at the goal june 2025 will increase increased efficiency of our students demonstrating growth and performance and increased percentage of students demonstrating proficiency on state delay and math assessments for all subgroups we know there's a direct correlation between the arts and student achievement and so that's why that particular pillar is extremely important it's our research base so our student strategy there that's linked to that particular goal when you see activity 1.1 review and refine the instructional program to ensure that it provides guaranteed and viable curriculum assessments and materials reflective of the culturally responsive sustainable framework in our curriculum and here's the goal that by 2021 we're hiring content area district leaders academic
standards facilitators which we've used throughout my time here very successfully to support english and math social studies and science physical education and health education and students with disabilities to facilitate the evaluation development refinement and delivery of a guaranteed and vital curriculum across the district that complies with the state education department learning standards [Music] thank you moving on to the long-term fiscal buzz the voters adopt not only a budget that is balanced within the context of project revenue and expenditures provides sufficient revenue for mandated services and supports improvements and student outcomes our measurable objectives each hearing stage in the budget process should be complete in accordance with the provisions of chapter 173 of awards of 2021. the monitor shall review and sign off on each step of the budget process is outlined in the budget development
account all justifications must accommodate the expenditure and revenue budget codes the monitors must be provided all justifications that align with each budget annually by january 1st the board shall review update as appropriate budget policies to ensure that they are compliant in applicable laws and regulations the next goal which um as with transportation is going to be discussed in depth we have our transportation supervisor and our assistant superintendent the business during a regular meeting they'll have greater detail but for although east round vote shall create a transportation system that's efficient cost effective and provides all resident students at minimum services mandated by state law our objective in the spring of 22 shall limit them into new transportation contracts the 22 23 school year and by future years that reduced the per pupil cost of transportation compared
to 2122 school year after adjustments are made will change the single price index by fall of 2021 the district shall complete a rounding efficiency study of current bus routes to ensure maximum cost effective transportation efficiency recognizing that all buses are equipped with gps and the bus routing software versatrain which could track and evaluate the district shall included in surrounding study assessments a morning and after including partnership in each school's seat utilization and efficiency of pick-up and drop-off times another component of the plant is million-dollar supplemental funding this year the state is granting east ground upon million dollars which will fund seven bilingual kindergarten teachers to be used to fund a structuring program opera house [Music] thank you dr lauren mr singer so we look at the community feedback form uh it opens today october 5th
it closes next tuesday october 12th so it's based on the plan and it's electronic feedback form it's located at the district site you see the website below so we invite our youtube central community to review the plan provide comments using the electronic feedback form here the feedback form opens today and closes on october 11th east battlefield residents are given the opportunity to address the board of education so each individual submitting comments will be requested to verify that residents so in the next um next slide i'll turn it over to dr lowe she'll go over the details of the forum dr ellis said we do want your feedback and so we're doing something differently that i think is critically important in addition to the public notice for this meeting where you can send an email in
with questions if you're not able to be here you can mail your questions directly to the district office but we're allowing additional feedback from residents through this community feedback so on this forum your email your name all those topics come directly to the site here um the questions are i'm a resident let me just go so you're going to put your name in an address but then you can address a question and you will get feedback that feedback similar to what we did on our virtual meeting every question will be answered but it's feedback for us because this is a draft plan this is a working document if you see there'll be x's there some spaces of light because it is a feedback mechanism and this is available to everyone including the board so we're
writing comment multiple ways where you can get the feedback we're doing that for a week so at the close of business on the 12th that feedback will be given we have a really tight time frame with sed because we're going to take that feedback look at it and input it into the plan we send it back to our district leaders in england and albany they'll give us feedback and then at the october 19th meeting the plan should be formalized so that we can adopt it that still goes to the commissioner according to the guidelines so we got our extension because the the previous october first is actually the date but the s d is really confident in the fact that we're dealing with blessing and a lot of different issues so we've been given this
extension november first but for us it's a really tight time frame we're really pleased that everyone has an opportunity to give their input and feedback into the strategic plan and also the one million while we're listing it for the kindergarten teachers if you feel differently you certainly can give us feedback on what you feel that one million dollars should be useful but as mr singer stated that is what we um the business office has decided and we're supporting that for our financial penalty teachers so in terms of thank you dr love in terms of the long-term strategic academic and physical fiscal plans the next steps are as follows so again tonight is the public hearing public comment form is open email and mail comments will be accepted so once you get your comments in by
the eleventh piece of the twelfth the public comment is closed october 13th the public comments will be reviewed until the 15th the plan will be submitted for board of education approval at the october 19th meeting as required by law so um doctor turn over the next slide is dr lowe public hearing [Music] so at this point anyone that has any comments or questions or input now into the long-term academic and fiscal plan and the one million supplemental funds they can come to the microphone excuse me um i'll start off with thank you will the plan and the feedback form be printed for those who don't have technology or a way to print the the plan to look at it in the form to fill it out is that something that we have here today for
those who are here and will it also be available either at every school or admin building for those who want to pick it up we don't have copies available for the public here but we also have that time frame um if you need a copy with the idea of posting it in the buildings or having available school buildings that's where frequent um just thinking about that in reference to someone who does not have access to a printer i would just say they may come back [Music] so we can have can we just have a few um available downstairs when people first come in [Music] oh [Music] um a week are we going to have enough time to get those other links get the questionnaires the forms out in other languages in enough time so then
everybody has you know more than enough time to you know click on it and get it yes they're actually being worked on right now so um those tastes since they're finished with the translation those will be up in the normal way that parents would request haitian creole in spanish okay thank you uh the three million that we normally receive i understand that we're only getting a million um what is the plan to cover the other two million that uh funds the other programs that we've had that had to be absorbed by the general fund you're correct in the past is million from the governor's office millions of state legislatures million for the state education department this year we only granted a million for the state education department and the rest um [Music] services that had
to be provided by general funds general funding can a breakdown be provided of what we've received what it's funded in the past and um what won't be funded just so we can have it in writing so we can have a clearer vision of what we're looking at and understand the value will only cover uh no problem i could go back a few years in the past in this bilingual kindergarten teachers art on science um last year was reduced to 2 million this year introduced to a million but i have those records to give to the board of [Music] okay so i want to know how the conclusion was specifically for kindergarten we have an immense community that are not bilingual and it's not only in kindergarten we have kids that are uh going to the
next grade not even knowing english yet not knowing the basics that we need the other kids that grew up here that went to kindergarten they don't have so why are we not relocating also for teachers are bilingual in other schools because i see also in this high school i've met kids that came into high school they've been here two or three years in this high school and they still don't know english uh can that one million worth of other rest of those money can that be relocated for teachers to be spread out through the district instead of specifically kindergarten i think it's a great idea for kindergarten trust me but we needed all this but not just one dream [Applause] [Music] said with the rep when we do the forums we could give the recommendations
as to where we want the thing where we want money to go right yes okay because that is true we do have students who are coming into the high schools who um may also need help as well because we have students who don't speak english in high schools so i mean that is that is actually a good idea i hope everyone knows that they could put that in your form as well right right right that you're absolutely correct that's part of the budget process as we mentioned a few minutes ago no program was defunded it's just a different matter what budget line it's going to be so the current programs are moving forward there wasn't any plan for an elimination it's only the state giving us less money and more teachers and staff had to
be absorbed by the general fund but we have that availability annually to shift the funds from one code to another [Music] okay um good evening i would like to share a statement on behalf of the new york civil liberties union who could not be here in person today we had sincerely hoped to be able to participate in today's hearing but were misinformed about the date it was taking place as we believe many community members and interested organizations were we are disappointed that there wasn't more advanced public notice of tonight's meeting and that there isn't a virtual option to be heard we recommend in the future that the public notice be given a week before particularly where meetings are planned well excuse me well in advance as we believe this was given the well-documented history of
conflict in the east mountain pool central school district and the school board's history of failing to adequately engage the public school community it is uniquely important for this school district to do better especially this year with the newly empowered monitors in the district the public school community is expecting so much more we need a dramatic change in the way this school district operates both substantively and procedurally we need outreach that is thoughtful public engagement that is meaningful and we need to see actions that build the public's confidence that this is a new era in israel schools unfortunately this hearing fails to accomplish those goals in addition to giving better notice we sincerely hope the monitors will hold informal meetings with students and public school parents so you can start to build that trust of engagement
the academic and fiscal improvement plan is the key document to restoring the health of this district and ensuring that every public school student has the opportunities they're guaranteed on the new york state constitution to that end we would like to share some of the priority areas for improvement that we have gathered from community members students and other allies in the economical schools we will be submitting more detailed recommendations in writing and we thank you for your consideration programs to support english language learners and to ensure these students have access to additional support if their outcomes are below grade level the dropout rate among latino students in this district is deplorable and the district is doing far too little to change those outcomes one highly effective program that was cut by the district was community outreach
directly to families of english language learners to determine individual needs we hope you will consider restoring and expanding that program we also recommend the district hire a liaison to the latin x community to undo the harms of the past that make these surrounding schools a place of belonging for everyone wrap around services and behavioral supports it is essential that the district provide an adequate ratio of social workers counselors and other trained professional support staff for student well-being the spousal has rehired these support staff at far too slow pace achieving proper staffing ratios must be addressed with urgency after school and extracurricular activities including field trips must be greatly expanded and properly funded to provide student enrichment sports teams are underfunded and transportation to field trips remains a major barrier to students accessing the rich school
experience they deserve culturally responsive education these roundabout schools are attended overwhelmingly by students of color the curriculum should reflect and honor their experiences consistent with the region's framework on diversity equity and inclusion students have reported to us that in addition to being culturally insensitive classroom materials are outdated and worn out smaller class sizes our youth members have reported to us that their classes are overcrowded the district must hire more teachers and seriously consider whether its physical footprint is adequate for the future access for every student to all courses needed to graduate on time is a legally mandated obligation of this board additionally qualified students must have access to high quality advanced courses that will enable them to be prepared for college or other post-secondary education thank you for your attention [Applause] [Music] is there anyone
else to want to participate with donald trump [Music] um i did want to comment on two things first of all the public notice was addressed the appropriate day there's no proprieties there um also it's a long document but all the things you mentioned you delve through that are incorporated there we are we've been starting the beginning steps with the dei process which is the research framework diversity inclusion and initiatives but i do realize that there's a very long plan but as you sit through those areas everything that you mentioned is addressed so thank you for your time if there's anything that's not certainly [Music] um i'm coming before the board today to read a little bit of something of what is said on your website each ramiful is governed board of education composed of nine
members elected by the community each fourth time of three years the board is responsible for the scope death quality of an education in the district it is a policy making body for the school district as elected official board we have been our district has been going on a great level for ample amount of time i'd say it's been over 11 years that has been decreasing our school used to be a grade-a school and now i want to know why the board is sitting there and not helping our children the children that are our future in this community this is enough of i promise i say so i want to know if the board when they elected dr ellis did they tell him the past history and situation that we've been through with this district our
children our community deserve better monitor forgive me for saying so but it's time to step up and help the children in this community and fight for us it's time not to take a back seat but to take a front seat forward and help us move forward together we cannot do this alone we need to become united and we need to be united and in order to do that proper communication has to fall into place yesterday el dorado elementary school students were there some of them stuck to five o'clock dr ellis were you still working during that time were you still working during that time dr ellis excuse me did you go to the school did you go to the school and see the chaos that was happening okay let me let me explain something to
you you went through the guidelines of following cdc three feet apart but in the daytime our kids are not three feet apart our hallways are cluttered and crowded our bumpers are not going to change you want to show something good in this room but you're not showing it in the daytime out there have you went to each and every one of these classrooms from every school and seen the condition no it's time to step out you want the community to trust you you got to understand what the community's been dealing with for all of these years so now it's time for you to put up because we're not going to shut up we are fighting as far as remote and remote learning it is posted today on facebook chestnut bridge middle school a parent is
concerned only receiving two out of three classes i am concerned because since friday this is the first afternoon that my daughter was led into a class and was supposed to have classes morning and afternoon asynchronous work is supposed to be posted remote learning means that the child gets access to google classroom google me gets in that classroom while they're on quarantine and get the same education as if they were in the classroom this is not fair not just schoology and uploading work again we need to work as a community i am not getting any answers from the board members because they have no answers to bring back to me again lack of communication to the community this is enough i've been hearing quote about boces i'm gonna set up my contract learning with both these
for what for what even for the long distance why are you wasting money you put that computer up in the classroom and have the teachers log the children in why are we wasting money that we need for other parts of the school other parts with children unnecessarily all of this has to stop and it's time to get the input of the parents it's time for the complete board and monitors to talk to us the communication has to start it hasn't started for 11 years since my child left this school district to go to a catholic one for a better education how many children do you need to lose you're chasing children away you're giving parents no hope it's on social media i am fighting for that hope and many other parents too and i hope
this time you silly take it into each and every one of your hearts and listen because this is enough this is not up back in the day when things used to be okay and neighbors used to give cups of coffee to each other this is a day where i can't leave my child alone well i have to even have to go to work and then you go and you commit parents what is it correct me from 800 parents who are bringing their children to school do you get their food for them are you on that food pantry line are you going to keep to get help to pay because they sacrificed this how many lost their jobs paying taxes every morning how many parents are saying you can't comment unless you're gonna put money in
our pockets and the looks of it you don't know what poverty is there so if you've been down that line back track to that day because that's what this community is and even though it is poverty we're stronger in numbers you [Music] hello [Music] you didn't give me a [Music] is transportation bus and bus monitors is that available because yesterday i come for three hours my five-year-old was on a bus with other children it could not be located [Applause] three nobody can explain to me where my child was nobody you need bus monitors these kids are five and four years old you guys are coming down on 45 and crossing the street why you got a million dollar plan take some of that money get some bus monitors so they can and drop them off
on the same side that they live [Music] and my child has been coming home for 4 30 5 o'clock in the evening he gets out of school at 2 50 p.m please explain to me while i waited and crying at the bus stop for my kid and other parents as well you're not hearing us you're not us okay we need more of our people okay we do it because god these kids are depressed these kids are committing suicide these kids are kicking killed by gangs you guys ain't doing nothing you're not supporting none of us you don't support our community support your own and we pay taxes just like everybody else and i expect my tax money should be spent the right way if we don't spend it on kids we're going to spend it
on kids the right way no more bonuses no more bonuses take that bonus and put it towards our kids and our schools clean these schools up higher more bus drivers why don't you make sure they don't have felonies check their backgrounds do finger check okay thank you [Applause] you know why it's very clear there the past few weeks you guys here really this is uh an office i know our family our sister our brother said listen we suffer you know listen monitors you guys they stayed create all this daily progress against our community our innocent children you guys have to come down they always they have to come down and fix all this you know why because this is always i gonna say you know why because they still make a mistake with these ignorant
people here they don't know what that means the words of education this is this is the reason that what happened in the past years who suffering for this is our kids is the human soul is a human we don't live here uh political issues or religious issues we respect everybody we don't come here to fight we just can't have years or protect our generation because remember no remember you know guys the united states is built for immigrants so we here which we just fighting for our rights we don't have favor we climb up our rights so then monitors you guys have to fix all these problems because it's not this same ignorant people is going to continue sitting in here all these spaces i saw them for the past ten years knowing what nothing nothing
mr yahuda you know me for the past eight years right tell me one thing you didn't pay but let me tell you something tell me the favors what united states did for your mom for your father that you guys come here 40 50 years ago united states opened the wings like everybody but now you guys breaking our generation our future this is so easy so resign god bless the way we all cyrus you don't belong to our communities we don't trust i don't know what you guys doing here but we don't know what you guys don't hear just destroying our generation's future with great conscious or money please fix this problem fix and favor our human speed you guys have to do something just now sitting and listening while we're talking don't feel like a
cheerleader be you are as a monitor we don't want to deal with the others of it we don't want to deal with the workers of the simplest we want to deal with the owners the students is supposed to be in the school at 8 15. i'm going to give you the address grant avenue the boss is coming they're 820. so they're supposed to be there 18 the students in the school so what happened when we called to the bosses they don't answer what you call when you leave your message for you guys nobody can answer so what time your students have to read the years they're gonna start at nine o'clock in the morning so this is better mr yaruda this is affair so if you guys can do the job just get the hell
out of here that's it because listen number one we don't have to daily with you guys i don't have to be friendly with you guys if you're feeling here [Music] [Applause] you can't call any lawyer i don't care i don't give a damn six hundred people like wow i don't give a damn you can put me in the jail any way you call me ready let's take one leaves i don't have to give an end to whatever you want women in the show for 20 years [Applause] [Music] is this a whole community issue or you guys don't care okay so my question is for the training right the first topic that we talked when will this start because i've had incidents with some parents when the staff members have addressed my i call them my
parents because i'm part of the community my parents as if they were animals saying welcome to united states learn english or get translated get someone to get here and translate because i don't understand you i was in transportation and she one of the ladies there answered the phone and questions she said i don't understand you speak english i don't care what you just said i don't understand you now she had her on speaker not on the phone which is private conversation between them because it's information of a child when she noticed i knew english i confronted her she didn't want to talk to me and she hit me and it's disgraceful that we have staff members by this time because i grew up in this district and by this time the staff members should know
better i know everyone is on distress but i would like to know when this training will be implemented because i will be one of the first checking how this training is actually working because it's disgusting how these people are treating parents like they're animals and we are all human beings we live next to each other we are leaders and it's disgusting [Applause] also the drivers there you go will transportation drivers also get this training because also i should remind me too drivers don't care where they're stopped to get these children the parents on safe before here i had a pta meeting i am now the pta president of elmwood elementary school and i had a parent teddy that there's kids being dropped off in 59 now we all know where 59 is kindergarten children getting
just dropped off let me lift two blocks down on a safe spot we're having kids drop off but there's no sidewalks now they need the training too why will this be implemented i would like any answer when will this stream be implemented i would like to actually answer once the feedback is in when will the training begin we need the papers the feedback because a lot of people in the community don't know how to um get on internet now are we providing a service for parents that do not know how to read the primary languages i have parents that i have to get translated from another language that they don't have because they're not fluent in spanish they're coming from their dialect from their country not knowing spanish so will we have a number that
they can call in and someone manually type this in where we will have someone from office and going like registration and thanking them for that because honestly i am tired i should be grieving right now because i have four family members die in my family this weekend and i am here and helping parents and i think it's not fair i don't get paid i'm gonna pay to do the basic stuff that i was just supposed to be doing but again i can't agree because i'm helping my community and it's not fair there's not enough people here uh finding my mental health community the principals the teachers are doing way more than they're supposed to be doing at the moment and to be honest all this billion dollars should be placed properly think about the teachers
think about the uh the teachers that actually love to teach because i met incredible teachers that legitimately get one on one of these students when they have 30 25 kids in the classroom they try their best those teachers don't need training because they they know what they're in but definitely how will you point out also the staff members anymore training can i get an answer again when will training will start man [Music] i can't hear you by the way [Music] so when will the dates be released after everyone [Music] publicly [Music] the input and feedback into the academic and fiscal plan is open that comment begins today and it closes on october 12th so there'll be time for anyone to input that feedback the final plan will be approved and adopted on october 19th but
i did want to reference um the support we thank you for your help with your parents but we have health in our buildings most of our bilingual parent facilitators of a child needs every child has a device but certainly if a parent needs support or translation we are apparent facilitators they are academic standards facilitators we have a lot of support in the building yes excuse me a child can also talk to their teacher if they need something discreetly teachers are using first line of defense there's no reason for any child in this district to go hungry our staff is on it so i would just encourage you as you shared with karen contact your building principal but there's additional support for all of our students in all the languages yes i'm aware of the support
well there's so many students these students are falling through their crafts and their cracks are not this little they're huge and to be honest they do as much as they can we need extra people like specifically people for this like the teachers shouldn't be like yes they're first in line because i experienced two with the teachers i had but there's a moment when there's 25 to 30 kids they only have two ears and the eight hours of learning and they only have time during lunch or recess that the dedicated teachers actually talk to the kids and how will they get to 25 to 30 kids if they have so many leads there should be someone specifically for this not the teacher their job is to educate yes to inform the people that they need emergency
situation or however transportation all this well they're doing too much and not they're they're not capable of doing all this okay so thank you for your feedback [Music] um i don't have my glasses i think dr lowe's answered questions i thought you're the monitor right so it looked like we were answering questions i think he was a superintendent or a member of the board so i don't know is that dr law that's answering the questions yes because right now before we actually are entering into our regular board meeting so like i said any comments on the academic and fiscal plan um we if we didn't well we actually entered into our regular meeting but you still could send an email to clerk you can get on the website and send those comments through there's several
multiple ways for you to give input into the academic and fiscal plans as mr universe mr westman stated at this point we are entering into our regular board meeting mr weissmann just told me to speak so i'm continuing i just asked a little question but the other question i had is about the input [Music] i'll make it into a comment but i'm sure you're going to have to answer it at one point um calling there must be a way i think uh miss naira answered questioning about this already they should be a way for parents who don't have computers or access to the internet to call and someone should be able to answer the phone or they should be able to leave a message and a person is going to check the message to make
sure that the person left the message and write down their information um these round holes for for a long time now it's been difficult for parents to get in touch with anybody most of the time there's no answer performing nothing happens so something needs to be done about that the other thing i wanted to talk about i want to know what what are you doing to bring back teachers assistance and bus managers into the buses what is that in the plan and if it's not you need to put it in okay and you know i feel like this is the same thing come to these meetings and we talk we talk we talk no action but you know in the meantime our children are suffering and you are getting them ready to go to jail
because if you don't give them an education you're sending them and it cost seventy thousand is more than enough more than seven thousand dollars to jail a child and it takes sixteen to twenty thousand to educate so taking a lower number educate your students [Applause] [Music] um a [Music] the just with your time you will never rise for pledges [Music] okay public speaking [Music] this figure is terrible [Music] is [Music] good evening board dr ellis and community members i attended almost every single board member board meeting and i attended a meeting on monday september 13th which began at 6 pm then all of a sudden i saw something online that there's a board meeting friday at 9 30 a.m i wasn't there to watch the meeting i questioned why the two contracts that you decided
to vote on monday at 9 30 in the morning couldn't have been presented i'm sorry on the friday could have been presented on monday friday morning there were board members there four were not able to attend it's not just that four couldn't attend these four board members represent us the taxpayers we had to pay our school taxes by september 30th i'm guessing thousands of people whose members on the board of bed who could not attend the meeting because they had regular jobs and couldn't take off couldn't represent us at this meeting and maybe he could have informed you of some things you didn't know about we will not go into that in the future please consider being inclusive that's what we teach in school we're team members don't be exclusive please show that you all
care because i later watched the meeting on youtube and then questioned whether or not there was a forum because i didn't see everybody remember one thing united we stand divided we fall thank you [Applause] [Music] yes good evening um i apologize for my accent and in grammatical history it's not my native language um i wanted to talk about transportation and i'm sure that many people come here as a main reason for that it's been a mess from the very beginning this year and we hear a lot of reasons with shortage of drivers it's hard to adjust schedules i think those people because of mainly that we are all here in the same boat public school kids private school kids everyone needs transportation [Music] [Applause] busy life for parents everyone has obligations most of us have
jobs to keep schedules to attend to and it's it's impossible when you don't know where the bus comes or don't come when you're trying to reach um dispatcher and no one [Music] [Applause] [Music] because because kids come very late to school the whole day is already [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 40 minutes my 10 year old doesn't have bus to school well after school and again he starts at 8 o'clock [Applause] after 6 o'clock she hit the cabin trying to find [Applause] she one she has a school she has bus to school which comes 20 30 minutes later she'll always wait she doesn't have to pass on the way back but i'm trying to say i am unfortunately i don't have wisdom to to offer a solution i don't know how to facilitate but how to offer
the change what needs to be done but something needs to be done [Music] [Applause] there are people with authorities that have to figure out either to hire other companies [Applause] however much it could be compressed or or adjusted but it has to be done not by 25 we like it's a long school year that we just started we need to do something super fast asap yep sorry thank you [Applause] um i'm getting informed by several people as a meeting yeah i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm getting informed by several people by a text message and messenger that a lot of people still haven't teachers teaching the classes um a lot of them basically aren't getting to school and getting the education or eating and then when they're leaving at two o'clock if it doesn't come what
are we doing for the kids for snack wise or something else we don't have a solution for the buses okay again we forget about the public issues that we're facing over here we're forgetting about it we also need teachers to turn on those computers and put the kids in i don't care what you guys are doing work together our children need an education and so far four parents have contacted me that's bad because they're told by the district that they get no remote learning hold it didn't i just say in a meeting before new york state department of education said the school district has to come up with a contingency plan where in lord's name is that contingency plan for these children and why are they suffering i just asked the question where's the contingency
plan stay monitored where's our contingency plan have we asked this question we're not garbage and i don't want nobody look at me this is very annoying it seems like you really don't care i'm sorry seriously start working together and get the help our children need this is enough come up with that plan dr ellis forget about it man just just get on your horn and tell the teachers you've got chromebooks log in and get them kids in each class while they're quarantined [Music] this is enough i am truly pissed off and kids are suffering and i think kids because just like everybody else they're all my kids it takes a village to raise a child you are not that village become that village thank you [Applause] [Music] was what's up is [Music] um [Music] foreign
[Music] is yes [Applause] thank you [Music] [Applause] just for the during public comment the board typically receives comment from the public and does not answer that comment at that time so that's written up there as well just how long is it so just so everyone's aware of public comment the board is able to receive your comments understand them to the extent they'll respond afterwards obviously the issues you're raising are bigger than just a single comment it's a dialogue it's a big accomplishment excuse me sir what is there to understand you have children you have children thank you have you you have children do you have children yes that's the question do you have children because they apparently the children must be grown or something but we still are a community and we have little ones
we're paying you to do a job do your job man don't worry we're gonna get this answered we're gonna get your questions answered they're gonna get answered good evening um first i'd like to say you know i made some comments during the public hearing and those comments i was reading a prepared statement by the new york civil liberties union i wasn't sure if everybody understood that so those weren't my comments those were the comments of the new york civil liberties and i i'd like to you know add to what people are saying now uh the issue the main issue that people seem to be having at the moment is with the transportation [Applause] you know and accountability goes back to i was here at board meetings over the past several years when they fired all
the bus drivers who were first round i stood here and watched the bus drivers cry because their jobs were being taken away bus drivers who were dedicated who would be here today if this school board hadn't fired them and sold off all the buses that we owned [Applause] [Music] he said you're putting district kids out on the street by firing me for no good reason so these people who worked hard paid the consequence but the director of transportation who recommended that we get rid of all of our buses has had no accountability now we have a director of transportation when i was here at the meeting on august 24th who said bus passes will go out on august 30. as i walked out of that meeting i commented to the janitor the superintendent is going
to get his head handed to him because we've all heard that there's a problem with bus drivers we've been reading about their papers and parents came to the meeting and parents said we've been having problems with bus drivers over the summer but it was like no one heard them there was no real understanding what they were saying and then the director of transportation let the superintendent make a statement that just wasn't true and should have known it wasn't true it was in the papers everybody knew that the problem was coming did anyone call to the private bus company and check in advance and say how things going are we going to have our buses this is the number one job of management is planning so why wasn't this looked into i knew on august 24th
and before this 24th but when i heard the comment all 24 bus passes are coming out i knew enough to say comment as i left to the janitor as the meeting was over this is going to be a disaster so all through the years we haven't had accountability for all of these things that have happened this is why things keep happening over and over and over again so i would like to see some accountability in terms of who messed up the bus passes didn't go on and also the massive chaos that's been happening with the reorganization and trying it this way and trying it that way and scheduling buses later it's been a real problem i understand my time's up i'm finishing i just want to make sure to make it clear that these problems
are not only problems that are out of your control that are having natural these are problems which are created by things that were done by this board in this district and somebody needs to be held accountable [Applause] like good evening just wanted to echo saturday about the issue with crossing not showing off also the issue with the time range that buses have to come could be 45 minutes sitting out and waiting to miss the bus or do not miss the bus i just wanted to recommend a possible solution to it there could be automatic tests when the bus comes to each specific stop so you know if the bus came to your stop when it came and if you missed it or not that might be a big help thank you [Music] good evening um
a lot of the complaints that i feel like i'm hearing are regarding the lack of busting and specific details about the blessing but i would really like to focus on the greater problem and i really believe that the transportation department is not functioning in an efficient and effective manner and [Applause] i feel like are just that symptoms and the real root of the problem needs to be addressed um i can list a few examples that i have personally experienced experience but again it's like the big picture and i think you need to see the forest and not the trees like for example a gentleman just mentioned about the bus passes they were mailed out and arrived after school started they should have been nailed down in the beginning of august so that parents could have
had apple time to cool and call the transportation department and then all the logistics of all the kinks could have been worked out before school started [Applause] a um my daughter has a 504 plan she's supposed to have a house up i have called numerous times it is still not fixed when a system is bogged down by constant complaints of easily fixable problems how can it function in any way another thing i'd like to say is that my children attend private school i do not believe the transportation department is working at all of the private schools i have reached out to the dean and various members of the school over the years about different things and the response is always the same we have nothing to do with it we can't be a tribe we
have reached out to this we have reached out to the transportation department [Music] department and that the transportation department listens to but they don't listen i know people have reached out to the transportation department who have highlighted how their boots are supported how they're going around in circles [Music] [Applause] and people have emailed them but nothing changes no one seems to be responding why is there no [Music] all saying is that accountability is no accountability and they're not doing their job properly i'm sure they're all wonderful people and everyone that i've encountered have been pleasant and nice but that doesn't take away from the fact that they're not doing their job and therefore our children are suffering my children are coming to school late i'm just finished my last appointments my children are coming to
school and they're being left out screw way past dismissal time please deal with this as quickly as possible thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] total so i deal not just this year but every year with my children who have um buses that come late to school long groups that take over an hour to come home problems that keep occurring year after year that when i send emails to the district about it um weekly emails and they try to get fixed it takes me months seven months for for example my bus to come 10 minutes earlier to school so get there on time four months two years ago to get to school on time and then the following year it just goes back to being late again for ten minutes um solutions that need to be implemented
just take so long when solutions are presented um i sometimes give examples of like hey you just reroute the group a few stops and move them around here and there you could say the majority of the students eat 30 minutes on the roof so and i presented that to the district months in advance and then at the next following year the route has changed it takes forever for simple solutions to just become effective this year my daughter is missing a bus going [Music] that's four weeks after bussing was supposed to start um we're waiting for it we are hoping that this is correct this will be implemented and i'm just hoping that once bus does start we'll be getting to school on time and she will not be missing classes because again this year it's
again not ravaged correctly and it will be arriving at least 10 to 15 minutes after the bus pass time says supposed to be arriving at school um i'm just hoping that she will be there on time thank you [Music] um [Music] my kids are having it seems like we've tried some solutions [Music] had the problem of missing a child and not being able to track the bus um i don't have transportation for them to school [Music] so i'd appreciate it [Applause] [Music] my [Music] crystal hi good evening um very emotional um so first of all i am a product and proud graduate of eastwood [Applause] and it saddens me that my children will not have the same experience i had growing up in this district it hurts my heart that's number one number two i'll
talk about transportation but there's more specific things i want to talk have three kids in each level elementary little in high school my daughter attends pomona late last year unfortunately her french teacher became ill so the district knew there was going to be a vengeance school begins this year no french teacher that period my daughter is sitting in an auditorium what are we doing i contact the principal i say wait a minute why is my kid who i'm sitting in school to learn sitting in an auditorium watching a movie because you don't have a french teacher that you knew was going to be out they're responsible as well she can take support how is that going to help her so now they were supposedly assault but they're not learning anything it's just from last year
meanwhile the spanish classes are on they're moving along i'm projecting everything that's number one where's the planning in that they knew ahead of time there was no french teacher so they're watching a movie so i guess because a movie became a thing so now they were just sitting in an auditorium on their phones just hanging back what is that and of course it's also just this that's but they're not really learning much i think i'm teaching her more french than anything right now okay that's number one [Applause] think when if my daughter tells me everything for now fortunately for that i can't tell you the amount of times i come home and i hear a fight on the bus i'll fight at school i fight a fight and fight on the bus these kids are
not safe someone is going to get hurt someone is going to get hurt i'm hearing fight on the bus this and that one time the school got rerouted back to the school and the police were caught what is happening someone needs to be in there okay it is not safe so let's go back to transportation each of my kids were given a new bus pass friday they were told effective monday this is going to be effective so they changed the bus stops thankfully so i thought monday morning comes i'm gonna keep talking monday morning comes to go to the news and what happened my middle one put her on the bus i'm gonna have seized the bus and she's wanting to go catch the bus okay [Music] [Applause] [Music] but the transportation told me they
don't have the information what is going on [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] um okay um isn't here somewhere from transportation because i know we're directing it to you guys but honestly the transportation issue now five to ten buses stop in my house all right they have one spray bottle they do the general thing but to be honest these buses are overcrowded an example my daughter's bus i was one of the fortunate ones that didn't have an issue with the bus which was great but then kids are trying to follow what karen said be careful so they put their book by messaging them so no one sits there great they're listening to it but then we have kids that want to get after on the bus and there's no spaces we have kids including mine are immune
compromised now the cleansingness one bottle first a lot of droughts is not working because now i'm giving them lines of sprays and wipes because they have one model to spray the whole bus [Music] that is unfair because now i have a daughter that is more likely if she gets sick my daughter is likely to pass i have multiple parents on me hey anna do you know how to communicate with transportation director or whatever supposition it is can we bring the concern to them this is education we need transportation so i would like for actually more with transportation because transportation and education are two departments i know we're directing to you guys because we're expecting you guys to help us because as a community feel we don't have the connection with transportation because even i and
i've gone to transportation there's an amazing guy he's a sub by the way and he was placing transportation he should be soaking in the school he's an amazing son and i've seen him teach he shouldn't be there now that's the friendliness that i have an issue with another thing what is happening with the kids that are being left behind educational wise we have so many parents that can't drive their kids to school now they're at home doing zero and where's the the teaching we're not we're supposed to be the opposite in some ways right but this is not working kids are being left behind and one more thing there's too many kids there are only spanish speakers in mono language classes according to my principal my daughter school they're too packed so i would like
more bilingual teachers in the elementary schools middle schools and high school because we really need the exercise actually we need more schools there you go [Applause] [Music] motion freedom hi good evening i'm here about the transportation problem and it's clear that we have a problem i think the first solution is if you're listening you take that million dollars and you put it into transportation [Applause] [Music] [Applause] it's extraordinarily difficult to work and also follow if the bus is going to show up today or [Music] [Applause] and not after we've worked hard we paid our tuition bills to see our kids out on the street at 9 15 when they should have been in school but they're not because the bus didn't companies just like it's hard they need to be in school and they need
to get there with the business so this is my first time attending such a meeting but i definitely educated myself and we hope to see change and i want to mention one more thing school starts the jewish school starts and then there's a two week period where there's no bus and that's very difficult again we need a whole new job we need to pay for the tuition so we would like we would like the business to start when school starts all right thank you good evening [Applause] um [Applause] [Music] hi thank you for the opportunity to present our issues um that we're dealing with um i'm here to speak about the transportation issue if i may i think this would have been more effective probably a half hour ago and more people were here but
if anyone hasn't had their kids being transported either way to or from school you please stand up okay so there's still a large number of us here and we're only representing a small amount of parents who've been suffering since the beginning of the school year that we have to try to figure out how to get our kids to and or from school every single day with other kids that we have to get out the door some kids we can't drop off till nine o'clock which means that for me personally my daughter's going into school almost an hour late every single day it's a really big issue structurally stability us trying to get me as a working mom trying to get to my job um so obviously we're dealing with this issue on many different levels
and um another issue that i'm personally dealing with in this matter is that my daughter's bus stop it was set to the corner of our street which is about for her she's six years old she's in first grade it's probably about an eight nine minute walk for her [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] the truth is that on the one hand i want the transportation to start as soon as possible on the other hand i'm kind of worried about what's going to happen once it does because i can't be there every single day with my other two younger children than that in the car like i don't even know it's impossible it's just simply impossible [Music] [Applause] i called the district and i spoke to a really nice woman in the office and she said she told
me the email i sent out an email i got no response and then when i followed up the response i got was very short and uh it said i'm sorry we can't deal with this for at least another 2-3 weeks i don't like to complain i don't want this but this is like taking over our life trying to figure out how to get my kid to school and then yesterday she came home an hour and a half late a six-year-old coming [Music] thank you for home time [Applause] [Music] everybody so besides all the complaints we do want to thank you for all the things that have been going right this year for the kids [Music] [Applause] i can't come to school on time i haven't come yet one day on time because my son's bus
doesn't show can't leave a five-year-old by himself so until we get into this school which is a good distance away i show up to school half hour 45 minutes late and then i hear from my secondary about all the buses and having had arrived at our school which starts even earlier i have bus routes that start 15 minutes after they're supposed to arrive in school it's okay to teach them but what about the rest of the class so as we keep hearing again and again the education and transportation are so closely interconnected it destroys a kid's day it destroys a parent's day parents can't get to work and again we're busy the whole time worrying if they're coming home if they got a bus when can we leave when can we take them and teachers
who are trying so hard to be there for the students and having no one to educate and school's a huge mess in the morning because i have students coming in at all different times through the morning where if we have 45 minute periods so oh well then today [Applause] hi thank you so much foreign meaning for everybody to have a chance to share it sounds like emotions are high amongst every parent in this room i'm here on behalf of both public school parents and private school parents we have a real issue of a real crisis the transportation is here that's this year what happened last year leo before you can probably ask any parent in this room if they have an easy time getting through to the transportation department there is [Applause] [Music] you can
send emails multiple emails i did figure out last year that if i cc everybody in the transportation department and the superintendent i may get a response a few months later but that changed because there's been a change over our staff but the bottom line is that we want to see change we want to see our children coming to school getting to school so parents can work so that they can get an education so they can be off the streets you want to see healthy happy children there is a big safety issue parents mention the overcrowding of the buses the long bus routes children being told they can't take a drink on the bus when the bus is about an hour and a half long bus drivers who are very over stressed and overstretched saying there's
nothing they can do they've tried to put in a word about their bus routes trying to get through the disasters and the bus companies because east rampart transportation has not become the phone not being able to get treated people leaving messages at the safety department not getting calls back and we want to see everybody having a chance to succeed to learn to be safe and we want to see change and we want to see change now thank you good evening i want to add my voice to the many of my fellow parents have spoken tonight my son's school changed the bus time because in the past he always came to school so for this year we're told that if they make their start time community earlier the buses would come on time so the school
changed the bus their start after 8 30. my my son's bus was set to come at 8 23 so that definitely would have gotten into school at 8 30 but his bus comes after nine o'clock okay so he gets to school about 9 20 which is almost an hour after the school day begins as for my other three children who have our different school none of them have blessing i have a high schooler so she needs to go to school and then i have two other girls in private school they also need to get to school and i need so i would like to request that as fast as this can be um fixed we're weaving desperately thank you [Applause] [Music] yes yeah so these messages for you mr yeah are not from monitors and
you know tremendous problems we have right now so you guys started problems because you guys because the guys was these two guys who sitting here was the guy who started selling our bosses so now you got you guys needed the problem you're gonna have to fix [Applause] i have my friend he tried buses probably buses he come here from eastern valley going to new school to pick up six children and the houses of 40 passengers so look using an empty buses and the ways to go not only that i have a videos close to our district and upload this week i saw one o'clock in the morning two o'clock in the morning taking drunk people from the wedding place you know different things and i don't know if it's legal to do even you even
the guys coming from both of our different places using our public district i don't know if it's illegal but they when i go into parking their property they put me right away ticket yes i don't know if i'm wrong i'm sorry and also this is only you know this is only transportation now you're talking about look now and a few weeks gonna come about education [Applause] our right so you guys of public schools and also sabrina let's go you know you have to think in which way you are remember this is public school private school two different things you have to or you follow your own two things you know you might frame but you have to decide because this is [Applause] respectfully there's a list sir [Music] okay oh we need actions thank you
for the opportunity to share my thoughts when my washing machine broke it gave me an opportunity to appreciate when my washing machine broke i learned to appreciate my washing machine lack of drivers and the crisis that we'll be facing which um all of you standing before me are in this with us has taught us to appreciate the wonderful transportation that we've had in the past years and i think that hispanics deserves a standing ovation [Applause] [Music] [Applause] that said i didn't just come to say thank you i'm saying that we understand that this is a crisis that we're in together and we're hoping that you can just see that this is i'm here to say thank you and i'm here to implore and beseech that you understand that on a human level we cannot go
on like this again i do have some of my kids buses running and i'm extremely grateful for it some are actually running on time mostly we are juggling between having to take kids to school but we can't leave the kids that are waiting for their buses that can either come 20 minutes early or 45 minutes late or anywhere within that range so we're just really struggling and we're really hoping that you can take all the suggestions that you're getting and restore i think that having buses running is better than having you know is more important than having the prices of leak buses and i would probably venture to guess that the reason why there are leak buses is because you're trying to double up drivers so that you can accommodate more roofs and um so
i'm trying to use all my good thinking and understanding but i appreciate this opportunity to share my words and we're hoping to be able to have our sanity restored i have some buttons running and some buses are not running oh there are no buses there aren't enough so but we i value the the team of board members standing before me and hearing everybody's voices and i am really hoping um in fact i spoke to the i spoke to holly who has helped me in the past and she told me that monday which was two days ago all the buses are going to be running so i was waiting to hear from my school i wasn't sure if i should take my kids to school or i should have them wait for a bus so is
there news that we're going to be told about i'm still hoping so thank you for the past and thank you for [Music] restoring busting um ashy [Applause] [Music] one last time [Music] i'm a parent of two children in the private schools i would like to thank the board and the superintendent dr dallas for allowing us to speak i would look i would like to say that i do see a positive change over before i send him email regarding issues transportation and i got a response that day from dr ellis and from the transportation director unlike the previous years that i'd emailed him or anything [Music] we all understand that there are big issues with transportation drivers and you know we get that and we know that in a certain sense your hands are tied the
question was we can notify this the night before space started this was a known problem by chestnut ridge by all these places beforehand because it doesn't they don't just imagine things that drive us from one day to the next they don't get trained up one day then the next this was known about before parents should have been notified people to make plans the schools to try to figure things out change things the way they are aside from the driver issue is the communication issue there's all these issues with the roots or all these problems and the act all these things are problems that you don't have an issue with staffing you can get people to be um dispatched i'm sure that it's easier to get dispatchers than bus starters there should be an investment in
this bringing in more staff to at least alleviate the concerns that are happening with the with their existing groups and to what somebody spoke about and left about seeing the bus going um you know five kids on the bus i'm happy my son has a bus but a man comes for him and one other kid right now now i'm very happy that he's getting another bus to school but i'm sure these things could be utilized better they could be made more efficient the bus is coming from chestnut ranch to new city it's coming 15 minutes after his school starts to pick him up that bus will shortly do a route on the other side of here at a better time more kids and it doesn't need to be wasted on two kids again i'm thankful
that he has the bus but there's so many efficiencies that can be addressed just with fixing the current stuff without the old routes that are missing i never got a bus pass to myself he doesn't even have a route to go home on friday it doesn't show anything on the bus test it's never been fixed my glory doesn't happen in the morning we're doing carpool we're figuring it out we're trying our risk to get by as everybody else but this really needs to be fixed and thank you for your time [Applause] [Music] information requests from the superintendent thank you for the comments from the community members well for their comments so we'll now start our uh super chat before october 5th so in our east grand prix central school district we are our goal is
to provide education for the whole child our mission as unified community each trafficking central school district is committed to educating the whole child by providing a healthy safe supportive engaging and challenging learning environment that's our five-point plan and we will become proficient in all that we do so our goals we want to have success in early years that's with the foundation for especially literacy and um early university skills going to their healthy safe supportive and engaging and challenging environment going through to motivate confident power critical thinkers that's always going to goal and going forwards mastery of academic subjects and the arts our commencement goal is our high school graduation and college readiness from careers so um this month is hispanic heritage month so please look out at your schools for activities and events that are
our latest hispanic heritage fund um i'd like to acknowledge that um senator ralph lauren offered two two awards to two outstanding women of distinction new york state senate women of distinction awards and doria hillsman she's a teacher at high school right and the suspect um it was just an amazing event we have a local champion of education award to our own ashley devel um i'd like to take this opportunity to read a quick letter that senator melvick sent me today he said dear dr ellis i wanted to extend my deepest appreciation and thanks to you and the district staff who accommodated my office and hosting the champions of education and women of distinction ceremonies valley high school this past weekend the answers to the school turned out to be a perfect backdrop so for such
a ceremony on a gorgeous order day it was also pleasure to honor two of each rapper at home dorian olsen and ashley ludell who might know what the district is justified and proud of a special thanks to dr tanner of our office james kelly of goings and grounds everything went smoothly elijah right up nothing new york state senator 38th district so now we'll go to operations and i will turn it over to uh mr schweigler and my assistant superintendent um [Music] good evening as if we haven't heard about transportation this evening i'd like to go over some of the challenges that people were speaking to this evening regarding transportation so obviously the main topic of our challenges is the nationwide localized statewide district-wide driver shortage currently the nationwide average is roughly 15 the every district
driver shortages which equates to a large number that's no matter where you are this driver's shortage is occurring in my district in your district in every district the issue of hiring new drivers is many fault number one is that there are extremely stringent qualifications [Music] the qualifications for hiring new bus drivers which the contractors need to follow are federal state uh and local qualifications on the federal level obviously uh they must pass federal drug testing they have to be fingerprinted somebody made a point about driver qualifications earlier all drivers are fingerprinted and the prints are run through ncis and fbi it has a two-fold system to ensure that all driver criminal records if they exist or found then we have the dot physical which is extremely difficult to pass these days for a cdl driver
they have to pass many tests whether it's a sleep apnea test or other testing that is based upon the information they provide on their form hiring drivers is very difficult when you have people applying for a position your expected rate of retention is about of the drivers who actually apply or actually manage to pass all the tests so it's extremely difficult to re-staff and on top of that when you fire x drivers the next day you lose extra hours daily the driving numbers are fluctuating mostly in the downturn some days they hire a couple next day they lose a couple a couple more so it's extremely difficult on the contractors and the district to cover the work that we have as we all know the second point is the reconciliation of data that is another
point that was brought this evening to allow all of our platforms to communicate properly and offer the parents the gps tracking that we had last year uh the my stop that process is in motion uh miss macias has graciously got us a contractor who was working with my department to scrub the data so the data can match across all platforms and ultimately give the parents the ability to track the buses with the gps it's an effective tool it also allows the district transportation team to send out a notice to parents over their text line on their cell phone of a bus running late a bus problem a bus breakdown via a push notification and finally a refinement of communication i certainly realized the district realizes i realize that the communication lines have to be uh
more fluid with the community when the bus passes were mentioned yes i said they'll be mailed out the week of the 30th but after finding the additional drivers who resigned from chestnut a lot of changes had to be made and there was a delay that was not communicated properly by my department that will be done in the future a continuous process is building my team we're doing that we do have two spanish speaking positions in my office currently so people are calling up and they need spanish translation we have that available thank you very much mrs [Music] good evening community members and colleagues first i it's unfortunate most of the community members that gave public comment left i would have loved to have the opportunity to explain that we hear you we understand and we
are doing everything possible to try to mitigate some of the all of the transportation issues um in particular we've put out a bit solicitor vendors to assist with covering the routes that currently do not have drivers uh that bid opening was uh we published the bids today and we anticipate um awarding those bids on october 12th in addition we're also offering before and after school care for those students that are impacted by the busing challenges and we are considering um transportation reimbursement for families we are actively working with council and our auditors to develop a process to assist families um we hope to have more information at the next meeting related to that matter thank you [Music] thank you mr swegler thank you mr sears so now i'd just like to mention that our our
plan the executive summary is on our website we will have printed copies sent to schools we will have copies in the district office as well as the district clerks as well so please um uh visit the website to be comfortable with that plan is up here but it's a 60 page document so it's more of a reference material next we'll go to uh teaching and learning as well [Music] good evening dr ellis thank you board so what you see here so we've spoken about the long-term strategic plan so what we wanted to give is as best we can sort of mapping the work that's being planned out so it's very important that we have a plan in mind as the long-term strategic plan is being finalized and reviewed by the public by the board we
receive comments we want to make sure that you understand or have an idea of how we're looking at this plan so when on if we work from the bottom up the first layer on the bottom is the plan for the five-year plan from 2020 to each year we have a dc which is the district comprehensive improvement plan for the district from that we look for example the next row where it says implement implement strategy we have strategies that we are implementing each year so from 2021 to 2022 so this we pulled out this year this dc year and above it are some of highlighting some of the strategies that are in the plan for example beginning in july of this year having our esy that served over as we know over 800 students and continuing
with the expanded school year after school programs that we're working towards we also have curriculum development and refinement which we've spoken about um in the plan around hiring content area we do not at this point on the district level have content area specific district leaders so we want that so that they can we can finesse what it is that we need as it speaks to content look at the curriculum refine view with uh you know composite of the community our educational community our teachers then we also need to look at rti which is a response to intervention taking a look at intervening as best we can where can we intervene by creating a plan our plan has not been updated since around 2016 so we need to look at that although our buildings are using
a plan and updated individually we do not have a district-wide rti plan and then also looking at professional learning academy many of our educators are highly highly skilled in specific areas and they have learned over the course of the year they've taken specialized programs and we want to offer them the opportunity similar to the teacher center working with them so that they can provide support in specific areas so professional learning you know by the teachers to their colleagues so that's what we're working towards then above that is the monitoring so we spoke about the plan five year plan first layer second layer implementation strategies highlighting a few that's not all but just a few then we move up to how do we monitor the work so for this year monitoring the work the expectation from
the state government is that we have quarterly reviews which we would have to share to look at specific uh measures to gauge success we have quarter one quarter two and quarter three of interim progress and then the summative state measures this next slide here are examples again this is not all of the data that we need to collect to monitor this to monitor the work that we are doing um with the goals that we've set so some examples of measuring what we're doing as we try and reach that end goal of improving um test percentages as well as graduation rates are school support visits and learning loans so going back now that we are in person going back for scheduled support visits where instructional team alongside the superintendent visit schools with clear foci leadership and
action network meetings which are leadership team meetings from each building coming together as a district looking at the report cards uh sending out surveys that we've done in the past to get a pulse of social emotional learning for our kids and parent surveys star quarterly assessments which we have begun which have been administered last month uh final five college board testing so that's during the one of the few that have psat and sats during the school day there's a lot and then we have new york state exams which are the summative end of year regents ela math science and isis thank you oh this particular slide is just a reminder that if there are any families and we want to continue reminding if there are any families from our technology department that are in need
of chromebooks we have them available you go to your school building alongside internet which you get internet through something called hotspots thank you [Music] tonight good question [Music] so we want to continue to mention that our family university will open to our parents and um we'll be starting up our first meeting will be the 13th between 6 and 7. uh the link is included and let's go to client performing arts system take two can i ask a quick question um [Music] so the parents wanted to use it to respond to the plan they use their child's chromebook and the hot spot yes yes yes [Music] good evening dr edison from the board um so yeah let's talk about the final four words tomorrow uh we have run straight to the little mirror girls down which
is so far in the miracles required requirement for seventh and eighth graders and of course the little americans will be for fifth and sixth graders um our arts co-curricular activities are on their way uh in both high schools we have jazz band we have uh the four drummers from springfield high school and raffle high school of course the other presentations at the end of november december um we have went to percussion with the color guard which will start at the end of november and of course we have our spring musicals in each each one of our schools including the middle schools and of course our marching band has been doing unbelievable work they they've participated in two competitions so far brought a first place trophy home and they have another competition this week at arlington
um and that's it for you i said thank you [Music] thank you mr smith i'm sorry just to add to that too um the marching band was invited to a event which was the celebrate the 125th celebration of monster 49 where they uh participated and had a chance to play at that event um so i want to thank mr smith for all the work that he does with our students and just to go back to the family university um is there is that is there a specific topic for that family university i don't think i certainly smile thank you the topic will be placed on the district site we're vaseline in between the two just to identify who's going to speak okay and um question number two is how are we with attendance do we
have a tennis report based on um where we started and who we are today with you know everything that's been going on with transportation yes yes right now we're just waiting for uh today's date we'll sing by tomorrow so it's always a day late but yes we have it i'll get you [Music] i know that it's virtual um however how are we communicating this with the parents in the school district that we do have this family university right right now it is virtual we started family university virtual so we send out online messages so students families have their phone numbers linked to the school so this school is linked to remind so we send it as a district-wide message so that they can access it once again students who have chromebooks are able to access
for they can access through internet with their families um let me say so we have the remind we have communication from the schools directly and then we also have the mobile phones that's how we're doing and the website excuse me i just hope one day dr ellison ford i hope one day that we can go back to you know ways of communicating being by mailing correspondence out to our families especially the i keep saying it over and over again but no one's really i don't know if we're listening but i just feel like uh social media and some i know some parents are just not that they don't have the knowledge technology they're not technology savvy and i just hope one day dr ellison is bored we go back to communicating with our parents sending
correspondence out sending letters out even that parent survey form that we were that was presented by the state monitors that too should be sent home to the families so that we can get the input from them thank you so much and one last thing mr smith i know you are doing a great job i see you with the children the football games and i just want to say you continue to do great work for our students they need this and i want to also say to you please inform us let me know let us know as a board member everything that's going on just be you know so that we can also stop by and support as well thank you thanks for the support i just wanted to pick it back up on what mr
bill said um and i know i mentioned this last time i know mailing might cost money but the fact that we are in personnel i think that we should be able to have these uh forms that have been printed out to several with the students [Music] so to add what we are working towards is having a typical backpack where you you know you have the printout placed given to the teacher so that they can place it in their backpack so that's what we're working on but i don't want to give that if i can't guarantee i don't want to say it if i can't guarantee that that's going to happen for this family university [Music] good evening last friday we were visited by the associate commissioner for bilingual education and world languages mr alvarez and
they visit she visited ramco high school went to walk through some classrooms go to the principal and had a very rich discussion with students especially those students who are english language learners or we're former english language learners asking questions about how they feel about school and how are they preparing to go to college one of the great things that is special about the visit and special about uh assistant commissioner alvarez is that she is yes she does make sure that we are following mandates but she is also very supportive and she has she's going to support the district in helping push our students to new levels not just graduation but also thinking about college and how to prepare for that as well [Music] okay um so we've had 602 students register between july 1st and
september 3rd uh this has caused us to have weekly personnel efficiency reviews with building principals and their leadership teams to just start to determine their personnel needs so when i look at the registrations coming in i can tell whether or not it's a school will need a print another teacher for whatever areas however sometimes the principles will say no we have extra periods here i agree with this teacher here or there so we need to have conversations with them about what is the efficiency of personnel in their buildings and that's done weekly thank you assistant about so um the next slide um in addition to being snack heritage one it's also national principles month and they've been doing individual um background and expo until they're going on exposition on our principles and then i'd just
like to show this one over to the shell of georgetown [Music] i think what can i do as a leader to help impact their ability to be successful every decision i make always put students first and then teachers so as long as i can impact our students and find out what support they need i can get decisions thank everyone that concludes this one superintendent everyone i'd like to thank all of the district staff that participated [Music] yeah can you tell us what the date is for transportation as far as the numbers of what's going on yeah as far as the numbers like um what response do we have or you know the parents are telling us that the kids are being left at the schools they're not comfortable until six o'clock okay so what is
it what is the actual update so currently because of the driver shortage we do have buses that are getting to schools late they loop back around those are the uncovered routes which we do have many uncovered routes because of the direct the traffic however something to report today if you want a great update is that by within 20 minutes of the suspicion time all the elementary schools were clear today uh as well as the high schools were all good and the middle schools were clear chestnut ridge was the last one to be cleared but the elements were clear today within 20 minutes of the special time so we have buses that are getting there uh we have new pmrs starting today uh which are updated to create more room on the bus for students we
have the same thing starting tomorrow the bus pass the students got are still accurate we're getting buses out there we're picking up more students on more buses and getting into school on time however there's still going to be some someone cover up in the a.m roughly 20 routes that look back afterwards they go back and get kids no child is being denied a bus but we're getting some buses there late because we have to come up with a bus to go back and pick up those children we won't have any vocals about you know you drop your kids off you got to come pick them up today today if we we will proceed as we did today in the same fashion and we should that should be eliminated yes um also the bus happens because
i know that there was a lot of um confusion and not a lot of information about bus classes bus passes being printed and coming out because i didn't receive my bus tasks at home but i know that children were taking bus classes from schools and then they took it home to their parents some of the bus passes are still wrong the bus passes as we gave them to the principles with the package number on them that's what utilizing i'm not wrong they're all correct i know we've been communicating and it's wrong okay so that that means that your router is still on cover that's probably what that's what that means we have to get a driver assigned to that route once the transportation bid comes out we should be able to be able to assign
many many drivers too many uh schools and routes that we printed and gave to the principals to distribute in the schools last week are correct i have one more question in terms of transportation before you said i was just listening to a level of the parents and one of the parents did that they were a kindergartner where the bus never showed up they were waiting for hours and hours and hours what i'm asking you is do we did we look into that in terms of who that bus driver was do we have a conversation with that bus driver because i think it's imperative that we do that so that that same problem doesn't happen again i heard the parents saying she was calling the police they didn't know where the bus was so was this
bus driver spoken to due to the fact that what happened did we speak to the bus driver the if i know what route that is i can certainly contact them i know that my staff and i were in the office last night dealing with children who are on buses for extended periods of time working to get every student home i don't know the particular student's name so if i do i can speak to the contractor and absolutely get that bus driver spoken too but i don't know that student's name i will try and get the information for you okay for missing children i made i get a notification as was ms department of admissions student we work to locate that student if the police are appalled uh the police are called we are made aware
of it and then we do all calls on buses we have drivers look for students in many cases the student was put on an incorrect bus that happens that was happening frequently uh not because we played bus pass because that's just what happened they followed a friend on a bus or a teacher put the money into requests that's been corrected uh again today we had within 20 minutes of a special or all the schools will appear and that will continue moving forward um do you also notify the supreme court as well yes mr clark mr parker communication i believe mr superintendent can the report be notified as well please uh that would need to come through superintendent obviously yeah yes the report that you just gave that today's performance that is for both public and
non-public schools i was not contacted by any non-public administrator saying otherwise except for obviously rockstar not covered um and again the routes the packages were they're running as close to time as possible and the runs that are not covered again parents were speaking before about buses coming 45 minutes later 15 minutes past school starting that's because those buses are being redirected to go back around and run the routes that are not covered to pick up any students who are still there yes um i have a few questions um i understand and learn through social media that routes are being changed uh as of monday uh why weren't parents notified about that the rats that were changed as a monday were reflective of the bus passes that were sent on last week bus passes were given
in on friday bus passes were given on monday morning to all schools they were hand delivered by my team to every single one of our schools you're saying one day no listen correct i'm why weren't parents notified not every i'm pretty sure not every parent is going through their or have the time to go through their child's book that and since school started back in september i personally wouldn't go through my son's book bag expecting there to be a bus a new bus pass for a new route or a different time change so what i'm saying is i've what i'm saying is that there should have been communication with the parents letting them know that you know this is what's going to happen as a woman as a curse understood awesome that could be those
who remind them correct also if it was what did the district-wide change or was it for a particular student or a particular route um in order to get as many students onto buses as possible we revamped uh routes from just about every school uh we actually design routes to create openings to provide additional drivers to cover uncovered wraps and did that also include non-public or was that youtube and was that still a day-to-day process we're still revamping around a daily basis and those bus passes from now moving forward are going to be mailed out to the parents and do we at this point know how many students are with us um i think mr c as you have we've run reports daily on those you know i'm gonna i was gonna say something about that
you did send us an update as of october 1st and i know that our number is still well over what it should be in terms of students that still don't have a bus i want to say this to everybody here our kids have gotten behind academically due to clothing our kids now are going to get further behind i can't sit here in this seat as an educator not say anything what are we doing about those kids that are at home because it's a great number with no buses we need to as a board our superintendent dr elvis i'm asking you and this board we need to start doing something in terms of i'm not going to say doing something what we need to do until these students and i know that you gave a temporary
remote learning but is it in effect it's not an effect we got kids sitting at home not getting receiving education we need to get the remote learning immediately please they are getting further behind looking at those numbers it hurts my heart to sit here even on this board listening to all the people tonight i really wanted to get up because i was ashamed we don't have enough buses people don't have buses the students don't have buses that number is high we got to do something please i'm begging you give these kids remote learning until we can get them in school they're getting further behind please okay um i have a question um what i'm sorry before you continue i know i questioned our plans for the start of the school year many times before the
school year and based on the responses i was given we all know that it wasn't shared with us until late august at the time um when i questioned about what are our plans for the virtual uh for the students that for whatever reason can't be in person i was told that they would have remote learning now remote learning is not something that is new and something that we've done in the past and i feel like whatever was implemented should have been easily carried over whether we had a separate cohort or whatever the case is at this point every student has a chrome there's no reason why it wasn't provided in the instructions or the professional development for the teachers so that they could easily have that access if a student had to learn remotely when
it comes down to students being quarantined i was informed that those students would be learning remotely how does that work for the high school high school students when they're going from class to class are those teachers being told which and i know because of hipaa certain information can't be out there so how do you know that those students are actually learning knowing that they have to go class to class and we can't inform teachers what students are out here clearly it's probably clear as they who's in it who's not but is there a way to just i don't know based on the numbers of students that are out whether it's because they're quarantined or whether it's because of bus issues where we just automatically have the live session that way whatever student needs to log
in they know this is the information and they can just join in at the end of the day it's just a teacher to turn on their laptop or our projector and it being there and i think that should also go even if there are no students because at the we don't know and we can't keep track of that so if that's a possibility i think that's something that should be looked into thank you [Music] my question is a lot of what we've heard from the obviously frustrated and upset parents who can't get the kids to school it's one of the big problems people were complaining about besides obviously you understand this is shorter why is it that people are complaining that nobody's picking up the phone nobody's speaking to them you know people deserve to
be spoken to you know there should be some kind of system a ticket system you know something that people should be responding to getting back to them and not that people with children and especially there was some that require special needs and so on i'm not getting responded to people are reaching out to me as a board member asking me why can we get in touch with the transportation development um what what are we doing to alleviate that somebody should be able to talk to someone to be able to get some kind of information because it doesn't seem like people are getting the information that they need and that's causing more frustration than what's you know besides what we that we don't have the bus nobody's telling us we don't have the bus yeah is
is transportation properly is it it's that do you have a staff like is it short is it a shortage and stuff what's happening where you know like like he's like well said like they should be communicating when people call they should be someone should pick up the phone and speak nicely to people our transportation team our phone's ring will go up all day and we have the full staff uh for the most part unless there's a sickness that people answer phones or day we have three staff people most times assigned to the front lobby handling people who are coming into the district uh with bus passes there's a wonderful journey who's assigned out there that we assist as well when he is overflow we do have now currently the two spanish speaking clubs as i
said before that can handle that um part of our demographic uh there's emails that my myself my assistant director i come in every day first two or three hours spent answering emails i get two or three hundred a day we answer as many as quickly as possible but it's impossible to answer 300 emails or one day for my set by myself uh taking care of other things as well within the department we get back to people as soon as possible some parents want a faster answer we get back to them as quickly as humanly possible we do have staff we have three retirements this year uh the three ladies or two of them for the most part are coming in to help out as they were waterproof will come in and help us uh one
of them is simply one day a week when there's two or three days a week perhaps four sometimes but we did um hire a new um clerk that is working out exceptionally well could you use mustang you can always use more staff and that's i would never turn that down however we're doing everything we can to answer every parent but again with the tremendous influx due to the driver deficit and uncoverouts it sometimes is overwhelming to get through everybody in the same day or within two days so we get back to people as quickly as possible i stay until early at night answering emails uh on the weekends i take work home i'm calling parents on weekends miss colombie spoke this evening i was on her phone with her on sunday i was on phone
with her today twice so i am getting back to people on when uh they're um when they can speak including weekends to ease up coming on monday morning and having the influence so yes we are working six and seven days a week and the transportation office will try to get through this thank you mr wild i'm sorry before this is up um for transportation uh as you know transportation has been an issue pretty much every year and i believe that as we learn about the issues we have come up with different solutions um you know whether it's after the fact or during the okay and i want to know why aren't certain um [Music] why aren't we carrying over certain things that were implemented in the past for example i know we had a call
center at one point where we had a few teams put together to answer to answer calls transportation is something that is dealt with correct me if i'm wrong but uh during the summer time so it could be ready for the school year so why don't we have a center a call center in place at least the end of august the first two weeks of september where we have enough manpower to answer phone calls and i think there was also an email ticket system that we had in place why aren't we utilizing these resources that we put together in the past [Music] so the transportation there wasn't a ticket system per se we had a transportation email we still have that email available er transport at ercsd that is being monitored every single day by one
of our staff members answering uh emails on that particular email uh the call center was not set up this year because we were handling calls in the office and it was working well until we had a tremendous uh number of driver reservations that we would caught late in the game by within two weeks 20 drivers residing from our main contract that presented a major problem that was unanticipated and we tried to catch up as best we can to fill those slots uh to get as many kids on buses and to answer every phone call so we we had didn't have the need at that time in the early in the summertime we had the extended school year we that went well the business went well there were no issues moving through the summer time getting
ready for this school year to open up until the first week of september we did not have the number of drivers missing that we have now i was notified 6 pm on a friday night that 20 drivers walked off the job to go work other companies within the district that created a tremendous problem and that's why we had to revamp things and mail bus passes again for things that were changed and possible it was a last-minute thing called to me from chestnut ridge let me know that 20 drivers just walked up the job so we we didn't need the call center then but we do have the email and we'll all answer our emails so if you were notified on a friday that about the shortage why were parents and everyone else notified the day
before school we came in on that monday morning trying to rebuild things in order to accommodate as many kids as possible that monday morning when we came in crisis mode we were handling as many making as many changes as possible to accommodate as many schools as possible making as many changes as possible and bus passes went out to those parents late because of the delay in the mailing systems in this area they did get to the house's weight and i was like away until mr partner for me about about this delay the mailing program that we have up here where mail goes to the office i believe it is donald by planes before it comes back here again and gets distributed locally for the houses so this all played into the bus passes getting through
houses right but we're trying to get as much cover as possible and get these kids into school we still have the 40-plus driver deficit in totality within the district that we're trying to overcome but once again that's where our communication comes into play and even though you found out on friday um some type of notification as a possible heads-up um would have been appropriate only because at that time i'm pretty sure we're not sure how many students would be without a bus and it could have um it could have helped parents figure out a way if they can you know in advance as opposed to the baby i agree that was part of my my uh awards this evening about communication uh if we have a contract these contracts are put out to bid to
transport these kids now they're not fulfilling their end of the contract and send a driver shortage but one now two things what are they doing before the end of the contract to make it i mean they did on the contract they should be able to accommodate what they bid up and if they're not accommodating are we getting the money back from what they didn't what they're not delivering to be able to do you know we're going to do the you want to try maybe the transportation reimbursement you know are they so we are currently exploring all options but payment will not be made until we have exhausted all of our uh you know until we you know council on what our options are and communicate to the board with the solicit new vendors what what
is changing now that so essentially what we're doing is we're looking at the uncovered routes and we're putting out a bid to try to solicit new vendors to east ground repo to attempt to cover some of the transportation um or all rather all of the routes that are uncovered we're looking to solicit new vendors to come in and bid on the work and what we've done is um one of the transportation consultants that were before previously school bus statistics assisted in revising the bid to make it more appealing ensuring that we have transparency with our prospective bidders to try to open up the pool of vendors that may come and work for the district and so we put a lot of effort into that good spec to make sure that we have we're as transparent
as possible and we've also researched other bus vendors in rockland county vendors that are working for other districts for our neighboring districts so that we can get these bit specs to them to see if they may have um you know some availability to come in and assist the district [Music] mr schweigler um you know starting i remember when we were at the board meeting and i felt like as a board we were all in ingredients that the upcoming school year is happening and we would like to get a handle on transportation being that this has always been a problem area for us each year i know that across the board we were all in agreement with that i missed it there's certain things that you can't control but unfortunately in the midst of everything that's
happening i'm afraid that there has been you know this this this mistrust relationship that has developed in regards to how transparent um how transparent transportation has been and you have said a lot of things unfortunately i don't really know what you said and my main concern is making sure that somebody sounds accountable so who gets held accountable [Music] because it's like this is honestly ridiculous like there's you can see as much as you want but i have not heard not i'm sorry i have heard like basically an excuse for why everything is happening the way it's happening and again you have to keep saying we're not dealing with just our concern our customers are the children and their parents we can't just be like okay and police are being called and kids are being lost
it's absolutely ridiculous we see this every year and every year we try to every year it's like oh how do you talk how do you talk transportation how do you talk a chaotic system let's talk even more like this is ridiculous this is ridiculous so somebody needs to be held accountable somebody needs to take accountability for it and speak to not only the board but the community and parents as well yeah this is this is we sound like robots oh yeah it's been good this is ridiculous and going back to communication and hearing what the parents had to say um what is the protocol when buses don't arrive and they show up late or they're not coming at all whose hands up in the parents so we know which routes are uncovered but i'm not
sure enough the schools are aware of that the schools were made where there is a spreadsheet that all school administrators have access to that they check daily which we revise when we cover her out when the weather's [Music] the parents i mean to there are many students that have bus passes with bus members but no bus and in in the transportation department you know you guys know what's going on but it's not being communicated with the parents for them to know that yes your child has a bus pass it says about them but unfortunately at this time there will not be a bus for them whether it's to pick them up to take them to school or to pick a houseboat to take them home that's not being communicated and at the same time too
like i said when the buses are not showing up who's communicating that to the parents who's in charge who's who from the building or from transportation is making those phone calls transportation uh at the morning when we're notified of boston not run for that day if there's an additional bus we don't call parents we let the school know that that was not going to be running this morning it will be circling back again as the other ones do but we don't call directly to parents is there a way for parents to be notified there is a way for parents to be notified and i'll connect that system uh once we have our data cleaned up which should be very shortly uh there is a personal application system that we didn't utilize last year uh that
could be used again but strictly parents were signed up for the e-link to receive push notifications can get that message from the transportation if they're not signed up for healing which we will push them for the past several years a parent won't be notified by this system are they currently working because i believe even worse healing is work my stuff is not functioning right now because we have to get the data cleaned up to get the correct plus numbers e-link has been working it is up to date with our newest rap scheme and every school and every parent that is signed up revealing should have access to it and parents haven't contacted me because they forgot their password or um could not log in and i help them on a basis when i get my
email from them i reset their password same thing with school administrators or schools adding new people on i just added two new non-public schools on today that requested to be headed so we're adding people as they come forward and ask to be headed on the e-link instructions uh and e-link is i believe the reporter of the parent university uh to get that out to as many parents again as possible as well and then going back to the question that wasn't answered who notifies the parents when students are not when the bus for the students is running late on their radio on the way home uh that will be the school who from the school the school administrators tell me that they call the parents okay and for whatever reason if the school administrator is either
not in or busy doing something else who isn't going to make those calls that will be the vice principal of the asaf okay and is that being done because i appreciate it for my ability the best of my knowledge it is or i deal with the regular principles and they tell me that it's being done that they've notified parents i would ask you to look into that i was not that's not being done um because um you said the e-link is working but not my side but then my style is is it my stock tire diversity my stop is trying to reverse the transit is the gps there's the gps platform e-link is the parent information platform which gives parents their bus route information it gives them the ability to email the transportation department department
directly through e-link there's a contact department a link that they can select and it gives them their rare information so they are not they're not they're not connected whatsoever i'm sorry you're not connected i'm sure they're not connected i'm sorry they're not connected because when you click the e-link you get the tyler versus trends and then when you my stop you still get the tyler versus trends they're all versus trans platforms so who knows you said that one of them is not working my stuff okay technologies is the parent company of versa trans wheeling livestock on screen several platforms that we utilize yeah this is confusing this doesn't even make sense because i don't think i don't get it if data is correct they can get that out of the link which is this too
bussing information uh however the e-link of the uh sorry the my stop which relies on the gps data from the school bus vehicles themselves that platform does not have the residue [Music] that was active last year for what happened between this year the individual bus assignments the vehicles themselves need to be inputted once we have updated list which we received this week from the contractors from the three different yards so now we have up-to-date information that was sent to be downloaded and that's uploaded and that's our fortified file itself that information will send it's going to be uploaded well we have a renewal of their contract on the thing today what do we do to get them to expedited and doing tomorrow i will make a phone call down tomorrow currently the contract is expired
it's clearly being renewed as of january or june 30th but i will certainly make a call to them tomorrow get their lead data technician on who did it last year for us and make sure because if they can't service us and we're larger than pretty much any other district that they're servicing why should we do their contracts [Music] um i just wanted to address the question about the bakery about uh temporary removal so temporary remote we are correct was providing during alternative school plan as one of the three options in temporary development and long-term remote learning it was communicated that same presentation and with some detail was provided to uh teachers through their building principles and the similar slide decks of understanding that temporary removal was as it was written the expectation is that we
would need it for the quarantined students but then we also put a note in that it could be potentially used for copied uh other weather related instances and any sort of emergencies which this bus shortage has become one such emergency so with the bus shortage the students that are impacted we have it's very um [Music] challenging because it's that we're at the district level and then we have the building level building levels um handling a lot of the actual challenges they're on the boots on the ground and what they're finding is that we have a variety those in group of bus challenges we have a variety of situations we have parents that are able to drop their students off strategies with their children off at school and then we have others that have challenges with
consistently dropping and those that have challenges with dropping at all so at the school level they're identifying those who have consistently communicated those challenges to place them as we said on the same type of program that we had similar to doing remote learning so you are correct in everything that you're saying what we need to do is go back to now that we have a new set of bus routes with um possibly changes in those who would need temporary remote we need to now go back to the buildings and see who are those students and we've changed the process was to change them to uh learning code d which if you remember previously where those who were d so we can properly take attendance for those students so that was communicated but now what we
need to do is go back and monitor to see where we are with that for each school building um there was another point but i just wanted to make sure that you that everyone was aware that they are aware that there are students who have different challenges and we don't have to address it but being in communication with the building principal and then the classroom teacher who knows specifically those students who we need to contact so with what you just said basically there are students that haven't been learning since possibly day one from one school what i'm saying is that there is that possibility if they have not communicated that challenge to be placed on temporary morning so it's really i'm certainly going to do is reach out to the students and reach out to
the families to offer that temporary remote and then they have to access it so you're saying that this student or the parent should have reached out to everyone what i'm saying is that it's communicated so temporary is offered so the communication is given to the families of those who have challenges that this is an option and then that option the same way we worked last year to communicate and make sure that on schoology the schoology is our learning management tool to place that google need on there so that students can access it from from the classroom to the classroom teacher so i'm saying that the thing is for me to say that i know the situation of every single child with me inaccurate like i cannot say that what i can say is that it's
something that is offered it's communicated to the school buildings to reach out to those families to let them know that it is an option and it's an offering for them if they cannot have their child come to the school building and what we need to do now is go back and just double check and you know figure out additional ways where we can make sure of contacting the the parents that are on the list but now the list has changed slightly so we need to go back and take a look at the new students potentially who have now so for for those that are all of us and are supposed to be remote what does their day look like are they in front of the screen listening to the teachers like everyone else or are
they just going to schoology and given work to do and educating themselves all right so as we what they stated is what's stated on the temporary remote that they have access through schoology is the platform where you can house the information and the link so they're willing to meet so that the student can have access there i want to also make it clear that we are aware there are challenges on most of this these challenges are on the k6 um in terms of bus challenges on the secondary not as much however we did a measurement i don't want to ignore that about challenges with secondary because of the change in bell schedules that's something that with one particular school building we made a great sort of um strategy towards that to enlist the support of
their social workers their guidance counselors as contact people contacting the um the the family so that there's touch points so that if a child has a challenge accessing it they know who to go to and then if a parent doesn't know or something that kink is they have people with dr ellis just real quick um i know it's getting late but in terms of schoology we have to make sure that the teachers are aware that there are children that receive remote learning and that it's not just a child going on seeing what the work is that teacher has to make sure that child is able to join the me because that's not happening there's keep there's kids that are receiving remote learning they're supposed to but then you have teachers that are there they have
the link there but when the child presses on the link to join the meet nothing's happening they can't get in so what we need to do or you know as a superintendent we can let the administrators know that they need to speak with their teachers making sure that their teachers are allowing students that are remote to go in hit the link the meet link and be in in the classroom construction for that day because that's not happening thank you the two list videos queen too that's not only happening virtually but that's also happening in person especially in the high schools where students are showing up to class with new teachers and they're being told last minute either to go to the library or to the cafeteria um i know we got rid of study hall
for the most part i know that is universal lunch so i would hope that every student has a full schedule and if they don't have a full schedule that something is being done about it to where they're not just roaming the hallways or you know just sitting in the in the cafeteria library thank you ladies [Music] thank you i'll make sure [Music] number [Music] just curious why are we receiving this report why did we receive this report before now i know that um it was as of june 2021 but then we received an email in regards to the date being here so just serious as to why [Music] um [Music] um i believe that the last time we approved the treasury's budget status report was back in may for january january to may our videos
in july so um maybe the answer to why we saved it now and not back in july august for us to be up to date with the report sure um so typically we're always two months behind um what happens is we record all the cash at the end of the month uh or at the beginning of the subsequent month once we get all the bank statements we close the books and typically it gets on the board the following month this particular month's treasures report should have been adopted at the latter september board meeting but as you know we've had corporate economic solutions that's stepping in to assist in doing some training we have some new staff in-house and june in particular was a month that they were working on with the staff to do some
cross-training to ensure that we had appropriate systems in place so moving forward for the october 19th meeting you will see july which would put us exactly where we need to be and then um uh come november we'll start on that typical cycle of just having um the prior to you know two months always two months out so sure [Music] this was asked maybe i'd like to add the final year in expenditure report has not been finalized by our external auditors it is several months late we hired special accountants to assist in preliminary auditing of the fine numbers to give to the external auditors so normally the external audit report the year round for june 30th is submitted concurrently with the june 30th report so where we're several months late on finalizing that document [Music] and
dr ellis for explaining this report to me i think that i just want to confirm that i understand that it might be useful for the other board members assuming that i explained it correctly then the anticipated balance is the expected revenue that has not yet been realized that has not been received and the access revenue is revenue that's received that's in excess of what was expected so when we look at the general funds and you see 49 million anticipated balance that's revenue that's expected to be received but it's not been received yet even though it's for the fiscal year ending june 30th 2021. so the difference between that and the excess revenue is revenue the reason we need to borrow [Music] and this is why you're correct the thing that the question i have is
look at it you see 45 million dollars in state aid in basically which is almost one-fifth of our budget which [Music] is a combination of many factors first it's the 22.2 million that we didn't receive in cares funding which would be reflected on that line um i believe we discussed this in public prior but there's been significant other areas that have seen a significant impact on our transportation aid for example for aid in general transportation aid has is is obviously one big driver uh because of the kobe related closures in 1920 um and we didn't essentially expend certain funds for transportation it directly impacted our transportation aid for the 2021 school year in addition there was significant building aid that we also did not collect because documentation was not submitted to the state in a
timely manner we've subsequently worked with capital market advisors who has helped us gather some documentation but we're still working on rectifying that there's approximately i'll say over 10 million in building aid that's accessible to us but that we're not able to realize at this moment so that number is influence of many factors um there's no direct you know there's no easy fix but we are working diligently to try to recruit as much as many funds as possible for the district [Music] that we actually do ultimately realize all the aid that should be receiving and then we pay back the notice uh that would be taken out that after that we'll see a surplus from last year [Music] yeah so um based on finance law we have to we point to the revenue that we're going
to use to pay off the debt so um in terms of state aid what we can do is position the district in a manner in which we do everything we can to maximize the maximize aid going forward um there are certain areas of aid for the state that we can go back and try to recruit funding um mr singer has been instrumental in working helping assisting the district and communicate with the state on the areas that we feel you know that they could assist the building aid is an area that is um you know that those that stated is still viable we could collect that um we face several challenges in doing so we um need to make sure that we get the right person in place that can um that has the buildings and
brown's background that's able to help us at the state level to um work with the vendors and gather certain paperwork to make sure that we're you know maximizing aid but in terms of going back to the aid that we didn't receive for the 21 the 20 20 20 21 school year i believe we're limited mr singer any comments yeah harry what i'd like to point out is that if you did not borrow 35 million dollars we would have been in deficit that year this treasury report reflects the cash balance what's missing is the fund balance report which is in the order this report was not yet finalized in the fund balance report i think your questions will be answered it'll be clearer what actually happened last year and if you recall during july we charged
back 5.5 million dollars in level acp payment uh back to last year so all of these will be indicated on a fund balance report i think it'll be clear to see what happened last year okay thank you this is the motion of the second on the floor i'm sorry i just have another question um with the money that we're receiving the most american rescue plan and i'm not sure if we received the cares funding yet um american rescue plan so let's start with that are we keeping a separate report with the line by line um was being [Music] expended yes so for clarification purposes um both the arpa and the first applications have been submitted to the state neither one has been approved and we have not received any funding related to both of those
grants just yet and to provide for the clarity the state has indicated it will not be giving us a 20 upfront allocation that we typically get it will be a strict reimbursement process only um we did meet with the state um last week during the call and they indicated that we can start expending certain funds that are aligned with the plan so much of what's on the agenda tonight um some salaries a lot of equipment will be funded through those through those funding sources and according to the rent we are keeping both arpa and cursa in the specialty fund they have very specific budget lines we will share them with you um we will see them in the july chargers reports you'll be able to see the special aid fund and all of the separate
designated budget codes and um of course the plan is posted on the district website which you can clearly see what is being expended per category which will obviously correlate to what we appropriate in those specific budget lines in the july 1st treasury's reports so it'll be clearly indicated okay but i guess my question too is that will the report be separate from this would it be included and if it's going to be included can it kind of be separated so we just have a understanding of what we're looking at absolutely so it will be included but it will be separate it will be segregated within the reports you'll have one revenue-style support strictly for the special aid fund and you'll be able to designate which ones are related to cares versus arpa i'm sorry cursa
versus arfa it won't be broken down into details it will be broken down similarly to what you currently see except it will be in the specialty fund then we can review budget codes and you know give you guys an indication we've set up the budget quotes in a manner where it's easily identifiable anything related to art will have that acronym attached to it versus a five-letter acronym so we've removed one of ours just for purposes of transparency so that you can clearly see what's associated with arpa versus care versus cursive versus all other resources maybe it would be easier after the state education department approves both of these we show the board of education what budget code in the federal fund as opposed to the general fund we could highlight those codes so the board
can clearly see the expenditures for harper and expenditures for carissa [Music] it's not about the treasures budget so for the american rescue plan it will have its own basically um revenue account right and then it will show exactly what that funds were spent on right okay thank you um the only i do have a i do have a question about um certified personnel because it is number three [Music] yes [Music] um there's actually a couple um one of the questions i did have how did you make number eight there was another question for number eight about that immediately i just noticed that there were actually two bids for that yes what's your questions [Music] okay so the two bits for equipment one is for um a heavy-duty lawn mower and the other one's for a
heavy-duty snowplow [Music] i just have an old copy because number eight is something different for me okay it's for the heavy duty lawnmower so what's the question um when you look at it there's actually two um it appears yes so the bid that was submitted it says it on the um i believe on the award sheet it says that they didn't meet the specifications the one that came in lower so when we bid out equipment we ask for very specific um [Music] requirements because of the number of buildings we have and what the needs are for the district and so we did receive two bids for the lawn mower one of them did come in lower but the one that came in lower did not meet the bid specifications so it wasn't what we needed
they simply submitted a bid for something that didn't meet the requirements and so we went with the other vendor because it was exactly what we needed um i'm sorry um in the future i mean since this is something that we need to vote on and we don't necessarily know what the specifications are when you put not as specified in the bid document we don't know what that means is it possible to put in details somehow some way underneath um stating what specifications were not met and we can certainly do that we can tailor this this is the document that our purchasing agent develops for the board with recommendations for the award i can certainly ask for her to include more detail for the ones that we're not awarding absolutely and then for that amount um
how many lawn mowers does that include um i believe that's one lawnmower for this for one yes it's a commercial grade lawnmower yes and um and as of right now do we how many letters do we have well um we had none prior to a few weeks ago um i want to say uh maybe two weeks ago we purchased two smaller lawn mowers um and this is very much in line with what we've put out to the state in the application for how we're improving the operations of the district so it's in line with the application and so forth we are working to rebuild the equipment district wide we've had many many challenges from the buildings and brown's perspective we've had to tap on our neighbors the tamarama coats step in and assist this is
um definitely a diary we haven't had any new equipment in over 15 years so um you know we're working on we're working currently on rebuilding uh yeah i i i understand what i understand and i agree um but hearing that this is only for one knowing the size of our district how many lawn mowers do we need for a district this size so i can get you this i can get you the plan for the equipment um and share that with the board um i've worked with um howie hyman he's the current assistant director and we've also been consulting with our district architect from csr who has been guiding us in what we should be um how we should be uh providing equipment to all the buildings to make sure that the buildings in ground
stations why are covered so this is very much in line with his recommendations so based on this bid that was put out was it based off of trying to get one just for now or did we look into possibly looking at the plan and um reaching out to i guess different vendors to see if there would be a more suitable winner that where the price would cover us to have more longhorns so a couple of things that i'll comment on that equipment if there's a just like we have driver shortages they're shortages for every industry equipment cdl drivers that can pick up containers and ports i mean it's a huge issue we've done a lot of research we've contacted many many vendors vendors on the new york city contract list which is why we had
to bugs bid because people just simply don't have the equipment to sell us and so um you know even this bid coming in it's very much in line with what the industry standard is um a commercial lawnmower of this grade can run anywhere from 170 000 to 250 000. so we felt that it was pretty competitive in the price we followed general municipal law we reached out to as many vendors as we could and this is this is just the result of who has the equipment and is able to deliver within the time frame that we specified this is us purchasing another rental correct [Music] yes on number two i was in that religious meeting and the subcommittee wasn't on the agenda i had no idea that the subcommittee was even being formed i had
no opportunity to volunteer for it several board members that weren't at that meeting there was absolutely no communication that there was a solicitation for additional members of the subcommittee so i don't know how we retroactively choose one board member while excluding other four chapters second comment is it is my understanding that the meeting took place over the jewish holiday and the jewish members weren't able to attend um and i went on with grandparent state development when the worker urban development corporation the state never scheduled any meetings on any religious holidays and all regardless of the religion for exactly that reason um i want to read to you the last page of the five-year long-term strategic academic and fiscal improvement plan the very left 1860 number three the district will increase outreach to all stakeholders both
in the public and not public school communities the newly formed community advisory board may be helpful in facilitating that outreach the whole community needs to fully understand the importance of supporting public education which requires adequate funding of programs continued failure to secure voter approval for the annual district budget will exacerbate the challenges faced by the district i completely agree with that paragraph but number three does not achieve number three there's a complete disconnect between those two and the third one that i want to talk about is the tyler technologies i would like to table that tonight until we see if they will come through and do what we need them to do there's a lot of money in that contract and uh i would like to do number ten mr grossman you want to see
us [Music] so i would urge the board to vote on this item um you know we don't currently have an active contract with them i would hate to see the urgency is that we want to get them to uh rectify the data that we've just provided to them in fairness to tyler technology they received the data last night we will work with them tomorrow and explain that this must be rectified immediately and um you know one of the consultants that we're working with from school bus logistics is a vendor that works directly with regular technology so i'm sure that between her consulting with tyler technologies and the district also reaching out to type of technologies that will be able to get that updated and rectified immediately i'm just curious why wasn't this uh knowing that
knowing our transportation issues why wasn't this uh brought up back in july i believe it wasn't on i'd have to go back and check um i have a system in place with my team uh in the business office where we look at all of the agenda items that were approved year prior and we work to make sure that we are closing any gaps i'd have to go back to see when the last type of technology contract was approved last year to see um you know how that was missed but it certainly was an item that should have been board approved at the reorg so if it was missed does that mean we've been providing services since july yes they have not disrupted services i might add if this is not approved that'll be a total
collapse of the transportation system this is the transportation software we can talk to them about fulfilling their contracts on the two issues of healing and the other issue but not to improve tyler at this point we could go after bid for another on software effect of july 1st if we're not happy with this service so knowing that they've been providing services since july anyway knowing that our next board meeting is on october 19th you're seeing that it can't wait another [Music] two questions answered about making the software work properly but i'm not pushing for it but this is the transportation software database mrs singer i think the question needs to be have we have any issues with our technology are you asking if we've had issues with them yes to the best of my knowledge
no no this is just a matter of us providing data to tyler technology and them updating the app so that it's functional they just received the data [Music] whether we have any performance uh [Music] contracts in place yeah you're already in that contract so i'd have to review the contracts to give you that answer but i can tell you they've been incredibly responsive i call talk other technologies um i believe as mr schweitler indicated um the friday before labor day weekend we were informed that we were in this crisis i called other technologies um i don't know exactly when but i called them in a chronic saying we need help they connected me directly to school of logistics they said listen we don't have the staff to help you but we know someone that can
they're our subcontractor they're they're intimately aware of the functionalities inverse trans and we are going to make sure that we support you as a district and they did and school bus logistics has been beyond phenomenal there's a lot of work that needs to be done it will take time but without their partnership we wouldn't be where we are today so they've been incredibly responsive incredibly supportive to this district we've had no issues [Music] technologies [Music] number 11. i'm just curious i'm i'm not sure i'm just curious because i know that our brand for the empire state funding actually and this is our last year have we applied for that grant again from the state [Music] there was a solicitation for an empire uh four years ago we responded to that solicitation there hasn't been a
solicitation out for another year there is one for a different grant that might serve a similar purpose 21st century that we're working on but this is we've got a five-year grant from uh office of children and family services and this is the last year if there is another solicitation we can't reapply for that but we have to wait for that it's state funded and as the state supplies the files for and we respond to that i think um i'm sorry when i looked at uh the last contract we approved it showed that the dollar amount was 900 000. i noticed that this was 1.7 um would change from that year to this year correct so given the need that we have for after-school services and the funds that we have through our we decided to
use to double the size of the empire program not limited only to five elementary schools which is what the original contract said but open it up to all 10 elementary schools and just double the size of that using all of the funds from empire for 885 students and then for the other 885 students to use fox with the stimulus so that 1.7 is a combination of the brand and the american risk correct so what's the total for is it still the 900 000 for this year and then no so it would be roughly it depends on whether we have a two hour program or a two and a half hour program we're gonna we're looking at transportation to see if we need to stretch the time a little bit to allow if the buses can
come after two hours if they're available if not it'll be two and a half so it really depends uh roughly the figure comes to about 800 890 000 for half the 885 students so for 1770 students it would be double that combining the implementation fee and the management fee okay so i guess my question is um there's a certain amount that was given for the client correct correct and that would be for half of the students 885 students and then the other total of about a little under 900 000. okay so the difference of that is coming from the american president correct [Music] and i know that it does say you know that a third party person is involved um however i hope um just you know one day i think we're kate i mean
if if it's possible i i just i feel like we got a grant for the empire state after school program which is awesome but i think as a as even as a district um it's too bad we have to go through a third party it's just too bad i just think that we are we have qualified individuals that can um do the work implement the services that's needed for this episcopal program so maybe one day we'll take it take that into consideration but i was looking at that because of the fact that i just feel like we don't need a third party i mean but i see that it was within the agreement i read it thoroughly but one day i think we should try and you know our district we can do it i
know we could do a back to school program with qualified teachers and staff um [Music] but i think what i also hear is that you you would recommend that we are the lead agency in a grant ourselves as well but what i would what i would say on behalf of dr shannon i mean many of the many of the teachers they don't want to stay that long the time the commitment but i think if we have access to the grant and they're working directly for us we may it may we may have uh be more formidable things that may be more likely to accept well actually dr alice they're utilizing um the teachers you understand i'm saying so we're gonna we're utilizing 10 lead teachers i know that there's qualified individuals that could be for
example the project manager so they are utilizing some of our teachers so some of our teachers are willing to study to do this after school program so i just feel like we should be the lead agency we got the grant let's do it there's people here that are they are willing to do it because they have ten teachers from our district that's hired by ep strapless central school district to do this after school program so we need to start looking into being a lead agency when we get these grants thank you [Music] the table [Music] but [Music] i'm sorry i know there's a motion for number three um [Music] were those members notified that they are now on the committee and what happens if [Music] was of the essence also because that it is that
day i had to literally i was at work i had to get permission from my principal to get on that zoom to make sure that we've got these guys and [Music] i'm sorry there's emotion there's an emotional segment um [Music] sorry um can those who occur [Music] can those who oppose um respond when it's asked to oppose if vehicles are obtained because not available [Music] there might be a might be a more efficient way to do this hold up okay motion carries on all items except for number uh except for number three so now i'm gonna have a special number i don't [Music] number two that promotion carried on them it's promotion but number three right there [Music] so now we can have a discussion how we get this committee employees excuse me available [Music]
and then did you say on number four there was something no mr two there was only two okay so number two who voted it's two girls mr harry person okay just just one just do it [Music] i'm going to now make a recommendation to the board [Music] on number three but i'd like to hear other recommendations i think i see the board [Music] i'm sorry before any recommendation is done i know this was something that was recommended by the state um can we hear from the monitors on what can be done at this point because we don't want to have a conversation [Music] um what are the next well basically what are the next steps before we make any recommendations since this was something that you should have okay so i guess what i'm trying
to say is that the deadline for this was september 27th i believe um accommodations remains for us to vote on it for us to make the decisions i believe senate to send it out and approve for the board to approve it tonight um knowing that i guess you can say we're not in compliance with the recommendations [Music] well i'm not asking for legal advice i'm asking [Music] is [Music] well the state was absolute correct the due date was september 27th but there is no issue to hear from our council and exec and then come out and vote on this this is part of the new chapter 173 this community advisory board people volunteered went through a democratic process to nominate these people i understand the issues that were brought up we should hear from our
council and then come back to vote on this but it should be voted onto it thank you [Music] here [Music] thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak i'm happy to hear from the board that they're recognizing that there's been a lot of talk about communication schooling and transportation but so far no real solutions have been brought i'm happy to see that the board is pushing the school district on that i think there are some solutions that can be done and can be implemented firstly that tracking software seems to be a vital software that if it's not the right solution for what we need with communication between text email social media and calls then perhaps there are other solutions out there i'm not sure what the what the district is paying for it but
there could be other possibilities of developing something specific for the needs of this district and not paying a third party another another thing is the school start schedule i know that my kids schools change their start time in order to accommodate for the busing and actually the buses are coming late much later than they were promised if they would change the schedule and perhaps that that should be looked at with all the schools to see if there's start times that can be adjusted or the school day to be adjusted in order to accommodate for the additional routes another another thing which i know has come up from schools have had the issue in the past is could they be allowed to re-bid the contract in the middle as opposed to just rebidding piecemeal of it
can can if they're not living up to the contract can just completely be rebid to other to others and also can the school be allocated certain amounts of money that they can ever own to provide transportation when the uh the contractor or the district is not um is not stepping up to it and then lastly um with the uh a recent court ruling in regards to the holiday busing for another district is there any consideration to providing a sunday busting which should not have an issue with roots because it's only several routes thank you [Music] excuse me mr president um that vote on item three and action items yes what i had down with
