Okay, last but certainly not least, it is my privilege to recognize math department chairperson, Miss Christine Redden. Miss Rednez consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership, deep content knowledge, and unwavering commitment to both teacher development and student success. Her ability to thoughtfully plan,

effectively communicate with families and build a vibrant mathematics community has had a lasting impact on our development, our department, and our school. Through her professionalism, innovation, and dedication, she has strengthened opportunities for students while supporting teachers in a meaningful and lasting way. Christine's leadership begins with her strong focus on planning and preparation. She's established clear datadriven systems that support both instructional practice and student achievement. Through regular data review cycles for regions level courses, teachers are able to analyze student performance and adjust instruction to better meet student needs. This process has strengthened alignment to standards while encouraging reflective and responsive teaching practices throughout the department. In addition, Christine has implemented quarterly benchmark benchmark exams that provide meaningful measures of student growth and ensure consistency across courses. She's also supported the effective use of I Ready in

middle school classrooms, helping teachers differentiate instruction and better address the individual needs of students. What makes her work especially impactful is her commitment to connecting mathematics to authentic real world experiences. From coordinating an annual virtual visit from a financial literacy expert for financial algebra students to supporting project-based learning opportunities at the cradle of aviation for algebra 1 students. Christine continually creates experiences that help students see the relevance and important of math beyond the classroom. Her content knowledge and instructional leadership are equally impressive. Christine works closely with teachers to co-plan lessons and provide targeted feedback on instruction, ensuring that lessons are rigorous, standard-based, and thoughtfully sequenced. Through collaboration and mentorship, she supports teachers in strengthening both their pedagogical practices and their confidence as mathematical educators. At the program level, Christine has overseen important adjustments to the

mathematical course sequence, expanding opportunities for students to engage in advanced classwork, including algebra, algebra 3, and college level topics in mathematics. 023of mathletes, implemented first in math enrichment opportunities, and encouraged student participation in programs such as the Long Island Math Fair and the gifted mathematics program at Stonybrook University. Her annual Pi Day celebration has become a new school tradition that students eagerly anticipate and enjoy. Through these initiatives, Christine has cultivated a math community that values curiosity, achievement, and student engagement. Christine's dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence make her exceptionally deserving of this recognition. It is great with great appreciation and pride that I recognize her astounding contributions to our students, staff, and East Rockway community. Congratulations, Christine, and thank you for all you do. At this time, I pass the microphone over to Mr. Murray. >> Thank you. And before I begin, actually something that Mr. Um, Schaefer did not mention about Mr. Lisberg is that not

only is he a member of the Southshore Symphony Orchestra, but he actually is the concert master, which means his peers see him as a leader amongst them. So, congratulations for that as well. Um, but I'm here tonight and I am honored and privileged to be able to speak about Miss Danielle Schneider. You can tell she's got a big fan club back there. Um, Miss Schneider was hired to be our district literacy coach shortly after I arrived in East Rockaway. And I'm I'm sorry, shortly before I arrived in East Rockaway. And I'm so grateful to the team who made that decision. In the four years that I've had the pleasure of working with Miss Schneider, I become a better lit leader of literacy learning because of her commitment to making this district a better place for

students to learn how to read and write. She leaves the arithmetic to other people. Miss Schneider's journey to East Rockaway began as a classroom teacher, then literacy teacher, and finally a literacy coach with the New York City Department of Education. It was there that she honed her instructional skills and content knowledge, becoming an expert in not only literacy acquisition but early learning pedigogy in general. And as you can see, she is still very much a classroom teacher when she models lessons for our teachers as part of her role in improving their craft. She easily connects with students, creates conditions that ensure they learn, and this helps explain why she is so respected and appreciated by our teachers. When Miss Schneider arrived, Denise Rockaway, the district had not updated its literacy framework or resources in many

years, and the science of reading told us that we should be doing things better for our students. As a deep believer in kids first, Miss Schneider dove into assessing where our literacy practices were so she could work with teachers to map out how to get them to where they needed to be. And I want to highlight with teachers because in all of her work, Bish Schneider partners with teachers so that all of their learning and all of our district's growth stem from a collaborative cohesive approach where teachers are very much a part of the improvement process. Among the enhancements to our students learning that Miss Schneider has supported teachers in implementing have been adding the Hegy phenemic awareness program in our primary grades, adding the UFly and Morphe magic programs to our upper grade classrooms

to support advanced phonics and word attack skills. Shifting from guided reading groups to data-driven skill-based strategy groups, providing targeted specific instruction rather than a generalized approach to reading. integrating science and social studies content into the literacy curriculum to ensure students can enjoy those topics from an early age. And comprehensive parent communication at the beginning of each literacy unit to deepen the homeschool connection. And those are just the highlights. I really could share so much more. But what really truly sets Miss Schneider apart and makes her so valuable to East Rockway is her commitment to continuous learning. She does not rest on her laurels but continues to stay a breast of developments in the field of literacy so that our teachers can stay at the forefront of best practices. Over the past four years, Miss Schneider

has become a trusted, valued, and incomparable colleague and resource for our elementary teachers. So, on behalf of the elementary principles, I recommend without hesitation and with great enthusiasm that Mr. D. Tamaso and the board of education grant tenure to Miss Danielle Schneider. CONGRATULATIONS And finally, I invite Mr. Toamaso back to the microphone to share with you one more tenure candidate. >> Thank you, Mr. Schaefer and Mr. Murray. And again, congratulations to our all our tenure recommendations. How about a nice round of applause for all of them. Now, this one I'm really excited about and I'm incredibly proud uh to recognize and recommend Mr. Jack Bicks on for tenure. There's something special about tonight. Not just because we're here to honor an outstanding educator, but because this particular honor feels like the natural conclusion to a

story that was always meant to come full circle. Jack Bixon didn't start his career as a principal. He started in the RAM Avenue hallways in the classrooms working side by side with students who needed him the most as a mathematics interventionist. He wasn't here to manage or oversee. He was here to teach, to sit across from a child who was struggling to look that child in the eye and say to him or her, "I'm not giving up on you." That deep student centered beginning is the foundation of everything Jack has built as an educator. When he left East Rockway to pursue and advance his administration career, he took that foundation with him. He grew, he led, he broadened his perspective across other districts and other buildings with respect. But if you ask him about it,

I suspect he'll tell you that a piece of him never really left. And when the opportunity arose to return to RM Avenue, not as an interventionist, not in a supporting role, but as its principal, Jack didn't just apply for the job. He jumped at the opportunity. And this school community welcomed him back with open arms because they remembered exactly who he was and they could see exactly who he had become. I want to take a moment now to talk about what Mr. Bixhorn has built during his time as a principal. He launched a full-scale implementation of the ruler program developed by the Yale Center of Emotional Intelligence, equipping every student and educator at RM Avenue with the language and tools to recognize, understand, and regulate their emotions. He understood before many of us understood the

vocabulary vocabulary for it that academic growth and social emotional development are inseparable. You cannot reach a child's mind if you haven't reached their heart. He led the K6 through a roll out of the I Ready diagnostic and progress monitoring platform, ensuring that every teacher in his building had real time data they need to meet every child exactly where they are and where they need to move. And that's just not a program. That's his philosophy. Mr. Bixelon has also been an essential partner in the district's work to strengthen our multi-tered service of supports, helping to build a coherent and equitable framework that ensures every student receives the right level of support at the right time. Now, RAM Avenue serves as the primary building for the majority of our special education students and Mr. Bixwin has embraced

that responsibility not as a burden but as a privilege. He embraced district initiatives like thinking maps and project-based learning. Under his leadership, RAM Avenue has become a school where students of all abilities, all abilities are not just accommodated, they are celebrated. But Jack Bixorn is not just a man of programs and initiative. He is a man of community. He has safeguarded traditions that make RM Avenue feel like home. Nukem Night. I think that was just recently, right? The sixth grade trip. because he understands that these moments are not just events on a calendar. They are the threads that bring a community together year after year. At the welcome back picnic in September, I was told and rumor has it that he sat in a dunk tank allowing families and students to have fun at his

expense. And as quoted by Mr. shape for high school principal. Whether he's playing basketball with students, dressing up like a rock star to promote academic success, or even getting duct taped to the wall for a good cause, Jack Bixorn is always willing to do whatever it takes to support and connect with his students. He is a staunch advocate for his staff and a terrific thoughtful partner for our district administrators. He is truly deserving of this honor. And according to his fellow uh elementary principal, Mrs. Kalia Kelly to quote, "Jack Bixhorn's dedication as a principal of Rain Avenue is reflected in his strong relationship he builds with students, families, and staff. Through inclusive leadership, open communication, and a commitment to student success, he creates a supportive school community where every student feels valued, heard, empowered to

succeed. It is evident to me that he understands how important it is to educate the whole child while having fun and by making a connection to learning. And at the same time, he has brought fresh energy and imagination to this building. Cafe 217 celebrating our special education students, emotional support dog visits, a growing roster of clubs. I keep having to tell him we can't keep adding clubs, but he wants to. uh where students can discover their passion, find their people, and belong. He brought the Harlem Wizards here with the help of the PTA because sometimes the most powerful lesson comes in joy. And as we all know, he is a big fan of basketball and the New York Knicks. He brought Earth Day programming because teaching citizenship means teaching children to care about the world

they inherit. Mr. Bixon believes that a school should be a place where students are excited to walk through the door every morning. And he has built exactly that. In fact, whenever I call him, he is never at his seat. He is in the cafeteria with the kids. He's high-fiving students at arrival. He's in the classroom assisting his sta his staff or shooting hoops in the playground during recess with the kids. He is truly connected to his students and finds ways to lead them. to the Ray Avenue staff. You welcome Jack back not just because of his resume, because of his character. And you know what? You were right. He has earned your trust and your respect every single day. He leads with empathy. He acts with purpose. And he has never, not in one single

moment, lost sight of the reason all of us are here. And that is for the kids. Jack, your return to East Rockaway has become a gift to this community. the passion you brought when you fought for this opportunity, the care you've poured into this school, and the vision you've championed for us students. It has all been seen, and it all has mattered. I told Jack just a few days ago that one of my first phone calls in my superintendency was to him to see if he was interested in the job. I could tell he was excited about the opportunity, even though we had just taken on a new position, I think for two days, if I have it right, prior to another district. As history would have it, that may have been the most promising

and important phone call of my career. Now, let's fast forward to this October. I pulled up to the school during one of the lunch periods to meet with a teacher and found Mr. Bixhorn, a teacher aid, and I believe Mrs. shutter standing and playing red light green light with a student. Mr. Bixon introduced me to the student and then he gave me a look that told me more than words could. I wasn't exactly sure what he was thinking, but something told me to join the game. Before I knew it, I was fully immersed in it. I saw Jack smile and in that moment, I knew that is exactly what he wanted from me. This is a prime example of what Jack Bixhorn does each day to support students through difficult moments. And even in this

case, he exhausted a superintendent because I was completely out of breath during the process. But Jack, you've always put kids first, and we know you will continue to do so. It was it's with great enthusiasm, the highest degree of professional confidence, and genuine pride that I recommend to the board of education that they grant tenure to principal Jack Bixhorn of RM Avenue School. Okay. At this time, we'll reconvene our meeting. Yes. No, not now. Not yet. Not yet. Not yet. >> Okay. Okay. take a break. >> Should I tell him? Do you want to tell him about um excuse me everyone? Mr. Damasa would just like to uh recognize a few new teachers and then we'll take a break. Okay, that really quick. babies. The babies. >> Okay, before we take a a quick break

and have some cookies and a light refreshment. Um, and I this is only just an introduction. In September, we will roast them and introduce them properly to the staff. But for right now, um, I am pleased to welcome three outstanding new members. >> Pete, can I have yours? not working. >> Hello. Test. You hear me? We got it. Okay. Thank you. Tonight, I am pleased to welcome three outstanding new members of our staff. Each has completed a thorough and rigorous interview process, and they all come highly recommended. While these talented educators are early in their careers, they have already distinguished themselves through the academic achievements, professional experience, commitments, students to their students and community as well as outstanding recommendations from the people who they work with. So, as I call your name, please rise so
