Good evening. I'd like to call this meeting to order. Can I get somebody to move agenda 1.02? >> Move. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I opposed. Seeing passes 600. In the event of emergency this evening, we can exit out the two doors that are here in our uh boardroom and go out your nearest store, move as far away from the building as possible. Would you please join me for the pledge of allegiance? >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. There is nobody signed up for public forum this evening. So if I could get someone to move action 1.06, which is to approve the January 13th regular meeting
minutes. >> Move it. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I opposed abstaining. Passes 6 0. >> Okay. For our upcoming meetings, we have a few that are on here and a few that I I am going to add to your um thoughts. January 30th through the 31st is our junior high area all state. Please let us know how they do. Wait to hear about that. >> Uh February 10th, we have a regular board meeting. February 11th is the uh NISBA lobby day. For anybody who is interested in going to NISBA lobby day, um our representative out to city, Mr. Cordone has scheduled um time with Will Barkley at 11:30 and Senator Ryan at 2 p.m. Um all are welcome to join in on that. Uh he will also be uh opening that up
to other um board members throughout our county as well, but uh know that if you do go to the lobby day, uh we need to reach out and let Mr. Corno Mr. Cordono know if you're going to join in on those meetings. Um, and right on the heel of that, on the following day, uh, the 12th, you should all have a flyer right in front of you, Asiggo County School Boards has put together a coffee and conversation with, uh, our assembly minority leader, U, Mr. Barkley, and that will be held out at the Mexico campus. Um, Superintendent Dr. runner has been wonderful in uh giving us space for all the county superintendents and board um members to meet with Mr. Barkley so we can talk about things that our district needs as well as what
we might be able to accomplish countywide with him. So, uh if you're interested in that, that's 3:30. Um just kind of give us a heads up and we can let um augo County School Board know that you might be interested in joining. It's a pretty good event to go to. Um policy meeting virtual on the 18th. Um B battle of the books will be starting. It'll be on February 23rd. Uh health and safety on the 24th as well as we also have another board meeting uh that night as well. Um so that was our SC. All right. >> Quick question. >> Sure. Do we know this year Books? Is that going to be virtual again for people? >> It usually is. Mrs. Hendrickson is not here for um me to ask, but is it? Yes.
Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Yes, it is. >> Um we also have an announcement that we need to make um from our board. Um it is with uh my understanding that our board member, Mrs. Hutchinson, uh will be taking a step down. And so I'm going to pass it over her to her so she can kind of lead with that. >> Um yes, I just wanted to address my colleagues in the public and um let people know due to health reasons I will be officially resigning um tomorrow, January 28th. Um it's been an honor to serve this community with this board with former board members and colleagues um and this administration team team and uh thanks for the opportunity to serve. Thank you for for serving. Um and I know you were on a lot
of other committees as well. So um know that we are always um welcome you back to help us with anything going on in our district. Um and we will greatly miss you and your inputs especially with the next coming season. It's just budget season. You always had such a nice way to kind of help us through that. But um you take care of yourself and thank you so much for your service. YES. >> All right. Um, and with that, pass it over to Superintendent Morris for those reports. >> Thank you. So, we will keep this brief [clears throat] this evening since we are do have after school activities ending at 7. So, we're going to try to get this in pretty quick. Um, so first we have Mr. Murray joining us this evening. We have
a new course approval proposal from the high school. Mr. Murray, turn it over to you. >> Thanks. I see the formal standing up here. >> Yeah. >> Um so yeah, this course is is a new course in the sense that it is um one that we're trying to add to our repertoire of uh college credit earning courses. Um, so it's called public speaking, which we actually already have um approved and is being taught, but now we have a teacher at the at the school who is able to be approved by OC um for it to be considered a college level course. So, it's going to be OCC uh COOM or communications 210 um for college credit. And this is part of our phase out of AP courses enrolling in college level credits as opposed to
AP. So, this is going to be one of the courses that's going to replace our AP English courses that will be done. Um, it actually already is done this year. Um, so we're looking to add it to the books for next year. It's NCA approved. It's a 20week long course. It'll be three college credits. Um, and it will be for grade uh 12 students. >> And just for clarification, this is replacing the other public speaking class as well, or will you still have the non-ol credited? >> I believe that we're getting rid of the the high school >> public speaking. It will be college only. >> Okay. >> Great course for our kids to have. So, >> we're ever expanding our college offerings >> up to 69 already. >> Wow. That's amazing. >> Fantastic. >>
And that's between what's offered in building um on campus and then through distance learning. So, >> sounds great. Well, thank you so much. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> You got it. >> Thank you. >> Any questions, reach out. We'll do >> turn things over to super again >> and I will be brief as well. So I have our December financials to review. So it's um the halfway point of our fiscal year and um like I said I can keep it brief because everything looks positive. So the first slide again um as we always start comparing where we are in terms of revenues and expenditures as compared to where we were at the same point in time in our previous fiscal year. So really in a a similar place in terms of revenue, slightly ahead
at 45% of our expected [clears throat] revenue realized in the current year. And we in terms of expenditures, we're at 41% of our expected expenditures at this point um in this current fiscal year. The revenue breakdown in terms of our revenue sources being local, our tax levy, state, and federal. um making up that 45% that we've realized so far. Um state aid payments uh came again in December and we're actually expecting another one tomorrow. So, it's good to see those continuing to come in. That certainly helps our cash flow um keep ahead of the pace of our expenses. >> So, are lines looking better than last year now? >> Oh, yes. >> I thought this was the time we had to start. >> Yeah. And you know, the percentages might not show it because it
seems like we're kind of on par with where we were last year, but the difference that I see is when I look at the projection out to the end of the year in the available balance, we're all in the black. So, we're we're in good shape. We don't have we're not expecting any deficits. We're expecting to be in good shape as we progress through towards the end of the fiscal year. That's the biggest difference. and my stress level is way below where it was at [laughter] this time last year. So, >> thanks for all the work you do, Kate. >> You're very welcome. Um, and then our expenditure breakdown, again, the percentages are all, you know, we're halfway through the year and they're all in a a good place um in terms of being at
that point in the fiscal year. Benefits is the line that I always look to because that was the area of concern last year. And you know, halfway through the year, we're at 49% and we were well over 50% in December of last year. So again, I think uh we're on a good pace to end up um where we need to be at the close of our our fiscal year this year. So, like I said, you know, I appreciate the the work we did last year during the budget season and I think that we're seeing um the benefits of that and the benefits of just really watching the spending this year. So, thank you. >> And then last but not least, just feeling just want to say thank you for your your service to our board,
our community, our students. Um, I really appreciated working with you for the short period of time. You've you've led me in the right direction a couple of times and shown really nice support, you know, to myself and to the rest of our team. So, we appreciate that. >> Thank you. >> All right. Um, we'll move on to our student representative report. Gwen, what do you have for us? >> Hello. So, what I just have is that um the new National Honor Society ceremony will take place uh February 2nd on Monday at 700 p.m. where we welcome in over 60, not over 60 members, but we have 49 joining, which is a big sum compared to our 29 that we currently have. Very nice. That's great. Thank you so much. All right. Action 5.01. accept the
financials. Would somebody move it? >> Move it. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I opposed abstaining. >> Passes 600. Action 5.02 accept donation from the Fton Moose Lodge. Move it. >> Second. >> All those in favor? I >> opposing. Abstaining. Passes 600. Action 5.03 to accept the donation from the Fulton's Lions Club. >> Move it. Second. >> All those in favor? >> I opposed abstaining. Passes 600. Thank you very much to our community for making donations to our school district to the Lions Club and the M Lodge. Thank you. Action 5.04 to accept the disposal of surplus property. >> All those in favor? I >> I opposed. passes 600 action 6.01's to approve the committee on special education move. >> So Lori >> Lori and Tim >> Tim or Nick it doesn't matter
[laughter] >> Tim sorry >> okay all those in favor >> I opposed abstaining passes 600 action 6.02 02 to approve the chairperson person for committee of special education >> movement second >> all those in favor >> I opposed abstaining passes 600 action 7.012 >> 7.04 04. Would some one of my colleagues like to batch that? >> Okay. [clears throat] So, we got Fallon and Nick and >> Fon and just Okay. All those in favor? >> I opposed abstaining. Passes 6 0. All right, that brings us to board forum. Let's start out with Mr. Connor. Uh, congratulations to all the National Honor Society inductees. I recommend if this course is going to be up next year and you can take it, definitely take the public speaking course. You know, it might be my major, so I'm
a little biased, but I [laughter] really believe public speaking is a great skill to have no matter what you're doing in your life. And lastly, everyone get home safe and be careful in this weather. >> Thank you, Mr. D. Jalon. >> Um, just want to thank Fallon for her service for many years and all the efforts that she's put in. Uh Kate, thanks for all the work you do on the budget, keeping us informed. >> Desiree, you don't get thanked enough for all you [laughter] >> true. >> And congratulations to all our honor society inductees. >> All right, Miss Fall, >> the same thing. Fallon, you are going to be very missed here. You know, you I learned a lot with you. I enjoyed your company when New York and stuff like that, but you
will be missed. and Kate always thank you and um National Honor Society that's great you know and thank you for giving us a report and >> I don't know right [laughter] >> thank everyone love it love it so Brian >> my colleagues have all been very eloquent and said said a lot of it um and I I agree and uh I thank the Fulton Moose Lodge and the uh Fulton and Lions Club for donating to the city and school synergy program. It's a really great program connecting our school and our city and I look forward to seeing it has already had great benefits in every program that they've done, but I just love that it it really has that civic readiness tied right into it and it it's great to see. >> Thank you, Mrs.
Hutchinson. Um I'll keep it brief. Um Kate, thank you so much for the budget presentation. Um it's really good to know that we're in a good spot and the things that we were so stressed about last year um are a little bit more less stressful. Um I not saying that we're not going to have challenges moving forward, but you've done a wonderful job. >> Um again, uh like my colleagues, thank you so much for the donations. that city and school um synergy program is phenomenal and it really puts Fulton on the mark and the work we've done and the partnerships with many different um companies and you know Hudamaki and all you know Brookside it's phenomenal to see our community come together and I'm very excited about the public speaking course um it's a wonderful
course and almost required in just about every um major so it's a wonderful opportunity for our students and again to my colleagues colleagues um both present and former and our team thank you for everything. >> Thank you. Thank you. All right. My colleagues have thanked all the people that I would be thanking. So I do appreciate [laughter] that. I do appreciate the budget meeting and you keeping us um informed and keeping it in layman's terms for us so that we're not too overwhelmed. But it does sound like we are in a much better position than we talked a year ago. So um that that is wonderful. Um, Mr. Kapani, we have Is it that I've seen two of our uh presentations go out? The third one has not gone out yet. >> It was supposed
to go out tomorrow, but Alex is stuck in Florida. >> Oh, darn. Florida. >> Not sure if he's going to be able to get it edited and out in time. So, we'll get it out soon. We have one more and then we're doing two, I think, in February just because it's a short month. >> It's a short month. It's a great program. I love how that we um get to see all the smiling faces um of surprise. You would think now that they must be on to something, but they seem surprised every single time we're to do one of these. It >> gets harder every month. [laughter] It really does try to trick people in. And yeah, >> you need to get more creative then. >> We're trying. >> Um, so I I do enjoy
watching those uh on our Facebook page, but I also have been enjoying the flybys that have been going on. And Glenn, you were on one of our flybys recently and you did a fantastic job. >> Glass enjoys hearing me. [laughter] Well, you did a fantastic job. Way to [clears throat] represent what you're doing here on the board. Think thank you so much for that. Um I wanted to just kind of also point out uh Lori and I had a a Swiggle County School Board meeting last night and um April 15th will be that city meeting where we normally go out and uh and I get to see the culinary students and there's usually another school that comes in and does presentation for us. Uh it's a wonderful opportunity to um enjoy all things that city
does uh and to see our students uh it's fantastic to see what they're doing. Um there'll be more information coming on that uh event, but usually there is a board member um from around the county that becomes the board member of the year. uh Swiggle County School Board will be putting out a survey in the next couple of weeks so that if you guys have anybody from your board or if you know somebody from another board that you think is doing a fabulous job. Fantastic community um work, you know, please make sure that you bring that forward to us so we can get it to uh the president of the Swiggo County School Board and um they will be recognized at that particular meeting. So, um, more information will follow on that, but if you
want to start thinking about that, I'm sure that, uh, will be a wonderful honor for somebody. So, just wanted to kind of put that out. Uh, also in the last couple days, um, because some some of us who really don't like winter so much, but are out there shoveling and maybe decide to just take a walk, I was able to the last couple days walk by both the Ed Center and Fair Grave. And I just wanted to do a shout out to our custodial staff and all of our employees who are out there getting our buildings ready in the morning. Um they're working hard. We see you. We thank you to make sure that our properties are um safe for our students and our staff and the parents that are coming in. So I just
wanted to uh say a big thank you to your your staff for for that. >> Yeah, they work hard. >> They're up bright and early things set for us. So >> and they wake us up bright and early to look at [laughter] Yes, >> for sure. So, um I hope everybody stays safe out there. I know there's another storm coming in, but hopefully that won't um impede us too much tomorrow, but I know Mr. Lawrence will keep us in the loop should there be something. >> We'll be up bright and early checking out. [laughter] >> Uh with that, I was wondering if anybody would like to uh join us for a second public forum going. What's going on? Uh we will be moving into a brief executive session. Uh Mr. Lawrence has asked to enter
executive session for the purpose of a student disciplinary appeal and to discuss matters pertaining to filling a vacant board seat. May I have somebody move that? >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I opposed abstaining. Passes 600. [clears throat] Thank you for joining us this evening and we will see Okay, welcome back. And I have somebody move 8.04 to uphold a a student appeal. >> Move it. >> Second. All those in favor? >> I opposed abstaining. passes 600 action 9.01 01. Move it. Going to move in the adjournment. Fing >> Lori. All is in favor. >> I >> opposed. Abstaining. Passes 600. Thank you everyone. Have a good evening.
