Winter sports awards were held on April 1st in the auditorium. Athletes of basketball, bowling, wrestling, and cheer were all

recognized for their successful seasons. The FFA alumni held their annual banquet on March 13th. Um the chapter's annual banquet and the alumni banquet are combined into one event. Uh it was well attended. The group raised a significant amount of funds to help support our FFA chapter. During the banquet, three seniors were awarded scholarships, Izzy Kemp, Anna Servant, and Lily Terwilliger. Lucas Andrews was also awarded the D. Chandler Memorial Award. Two graduates were also honored for completing their American degrees, Morgan Tracy and Carly Powell. The new officers for the '26-'27 year were installed, and many additional awards were given. Um thank you for the alumni for their support of our students and our programs. Ms. Sherby? Good evening, everyone. Um we're getting ready to have our wax museum family night for tomorrow night, and we're really excited about that. The third and fourth graders have been working really hard on doing the research further on the biographies of people that they're they're doing. They

have costumes. Um it's just it's going to be great. I can't wait for it. Um so that's from 5:00 to 7:00, 5:30 to 7:00 tomorrow. And then we have kindergarten registration already. That starts uh April 16th, which is today from 4:00 to 7:00. And then No, tomorrow. Sorry. From 4:00 to 7:00 as well in conjunction with our family night. And then April 17th during the day from 8:00 to noon, We'll have kindergarten registration. And then we have pre-K screenings at 8:00 at Heading at April 30th and in Avon May 1st. And then fourth grade is going to their Ag Day on April 17th. We have Miles for Smiles on April 30th. Third and fourth grade will be going to the Orpheum for May 1st to see Bye Bye Birdie. Um our character trait of month

is decision-making. Students are learning how to make thoughtful choices, taking responsibilities for their actions, and using the six pillars of Character Counts to guide decisions. Um our student our teacher of the month for is pre-K teacher Fonda Reed. And our March students of the month is kindergarten Hazel Guy, first grade Samantha McKee, second grade Prior to James, third Lucy Mathry, fourth Chandler Gordon, and life skills Riley Thurman. And that's all I have. Thank you. Yeah, you're welcome. Mrs. Craver. All right. Um the middle school students took their IAR test the week of March 23rd. We had to push it back a full week because we had two snow days the week before. Um students were rewarded with snacks for putting in effort in the test. Um Mrs. Gooding that used to do the Twister program

before we lost that grant at the end of June last year ordered all of the um raffle prizes. So a big thank you to her for that. Um the raffle will be held after the science tests are done this week and next. Um so the eighth grade and fifth grade students can raffle in the for science as well. Um the makeups are complete as of Monday at 10:10. We have no more IAR makeups to do. So fifth and eighth grade students started the ISA testing on Tuesday. Fifth grade will wrap up tomorrow and eighth grade will finish on Tuesday. Um the eighth graders attended Welcome to the Real World, a simulation about career exploration on March 27th at Carl Sandburg. Students had the opportunity to choose a career and work through real-life scenarios that included

budgeting. The best part is when they get back and tell you how much they went into debt for the month. So, they were like, I guess maybe that's not a great career choice for me if this is what I'm going to buy. So, thank you to Jessica Lujan for leading that experience and setting everything up for us. The Five Essentials Survey closed on March 13th. Our numbers this year, parents were 12% 79% of the A AAMS staff took the survey, which is a 12% increase from last year. 99% of the students took the survey, which is an increase of 2% from last year. And the remaining 1% are two students who have dropped to home school or transferred. Mrs. McCarter and I are busy working on the fifth grade orientation. We're going to do things

a little bit different next year for the fifth grade, so stay tuned for those changes. We're going to invite all current fourth grade parents and students to attend an informational night in late April or early May, so students and parents can get information and then they are free to walk through the building and see what the middle school offers. And um thank you to Mrs. Miss Duncan and Mrs. Widger for making um honor flight cards for an honor flight that took place a couple weeks ago, and Miss Duncan is the teacher of the month. Perfect. Thank you. Mrs. Andrews? Okay. Last month I briefly told you about having to complete the consolidated district plan, which is a plan for all of the grants that we get through the state. Part of that plan is that

we have a district-wide parent and family engagement policy and I would met with Andrea and Sarah had time with the curriculum committee meeting but we've had a heck of a time trying to meet haven't we? >> [laughter] >> Every time we've scheduled the curriculum committee meeting something it's basically Mr. Walker's fault he walks in and >> [laughter] >> with some with an building and ground Yes yes but something else. So but anyway um this it has to be included as part of the consolidated plan before we can submit it. We cannot submit any grants to the state until that consolidated plan has been approved. And so we want to get that done in a timely manner. Um this has to be signed by an official of the board and approved by the board. Um Lisa

had actually added it as She did. Yeah I was wondering if she did. >> Yes she did. Okay good good good good I didn't realize it was on there. Okay very good. I wanted to make sure that was on there. So I'll just kind of give you just a super brief synopsis of what the family engagement policy is. It basically says that families will be part of the decision-making process and their child's schooling and that students who um are receiving extra help that parents will be made aware of that information. Um they can be included in meetings they meetings about their child that's like IEP meetings or when we have um MTSS meetings for students who are getting interventions that we will have a website where um information is posted that um parents will be

able to check their child's academic pro progress through some sort of um district student management system which we have through Skyward. Um that um parents will um we have an open door policy that parents can reach out and ask questions about their child's progress or any academic concerns that they may have. Um, and this will be distributed and put on the website and distributed to parents at the beginning of each school year. So, that's kind of just the brief synopsis of it. Um, you will all be able to see this cuz like I said, it will be something that will be posted as soon as it's approved. If it's something I have a copy of it, so I'm guessing you'll be the one to sign it, Corey. So, I just give this to you now

if you want to just peruse it, >> Yep. you're more than welcome to. Um, and then just requires a signature on the back page after it would be approved. Anybody else have any questions about that? All right. Thank you. Uh, Kim, financial report? Okay, month-to-date revenue $57,842.51. Year-to-date revenue is $12,548,796.79. Our month-to-date expenditures was $1,297,138.81. Year-to-date expenditures is $13,410,644.66. Um, the amount of the bills to that was approved in the consent agenda was $495,388.51. Um, the only other thing I just wanted to I updated the finance committee but wanted to also let the rest of you guys know that on the school cash piece is moving right along. Um, I sent out an email to the potential users um, to get feedback on when we can schedule training for them. The booster club is on

board with everything, so that's good as well. So, they'll get their training as well. So, our launch date is looking like mid-May still, so it's good. Any questions? Thank you. Well, superintendent's report. Sent you guys out one out. Sorry for the delay at sending out late yesterday. Just a few nuts and bolts things that are going on within the district. Just recognizing this is that time of year where your first year teachers and educators and your employees, you want to congratulate them for making it this far. And they're in the home stretch and I think they're feeling pretty good and we I think we're very fortunate. We got some really good people on board with us. So, I appreciate the work that they're putting in as well as our staff. I think they had a

well-deserved break the week. Spring break was quite popular. So, they really enjoyed it. Some people got to go to Florida. I won't say who. But I think that's great. I think it's I haven't had that in 20 years. I haven't had that week off like that spring break like that for 20 years. Every place I've had gone has had the Good Friday off Monday type thing. So, this that was really good. So, So, we were on break and like the Galesburg break didn't match up with us. So, our kids that are going to the GAVC and stuff like that. How do they They still go. They still go. But when they're on break, they don't have to go and they don't have to come to us. Okay. So, that's >> grade them when we're I

don't know. Cuz They work it out. It's pretty project-based most of it. So, in other words, a lot of the stuff the kids are doing is is um if they miss something, they're able to make that that up. So, I guess it's a huge deal. It's all um Do you mean like if they went on break if they went on vacation with the family or something. >> Well, I'm They missed a week. >> Like you know, Tim was home all week, but they were still in school on Thanksgiving last week. So, I'm like, how does that He should have been No penalty whatsoever or No, there's penalties if they don't go. Well, he didn't go at all last week. So, you're on camera. >> [laughter] >> We can have a talk later. Well, I would

tell you is he in welding? Is he in welding? working on cars or Okay, so I'm sure he it's project base. So, in other words, they have a They're on a They have different skills that they go through. Sure. I told you David didn't bought it. >> [laughter] >> He probably goes and just tells them my dad had me out in the field. So, Anyway, they do miss Those classes are generally they're they're project base. So, they're learning different skills. So, that it's a matter of I would imagine Tim is pretty good around an engine. Yeah, so [laughter] now we're that's going well. Um Anyway, any questions for me from a report I sent out to all information. Just let you know. Yep. Okay. New business 7.1 current openings. I have um an assistant football

coach and an assistant volleyball coach. Nothing. >> [laughter] >> Good answer. Basketball? Basketball? Basketball was approved last month. Oh, no. Seventh grade. Seventh grade Boys? >> Girls. Oh, seventh grade boys basketball. Seventh grade boys. Yeah. The girls basketball assistant coach was approved last month. Boys. Yeah. Boys, yes, I do need seventh grade coach. Have we applied for either Chris P or B.J.? No. Yep. We got just thought that we that uh special ed position, which was last month, so that was good. Only good. Okay. All right. No, I [clears throat] don't have that. Okay. Um 11.2, AHS AHS bathroom stall remodel. These are These are for the stalls. So, we can get those ordered. We have those measured and it's the same ones we had put in uh the other bathrooms in the high school.

They've held up really well. They're anti-graffiti, the whole bit. That's why they're kind of spendy, but they're worth the money. Any questions or discussion? 11.3, Press Plus Policy Issue 121 first reading. I'd love to tell you what it is, but I'm not sure what >> [laughter] >> Press Plus first reading. First reading, so take a look. Yeah, I'm not in favor of it. Okay, I I imagine that. >> Yeah. Uh I can imagine that, so. All right. 11.4, joint agreement for 2026-2027 with the District 205 for administering GAVC. Simple, we do this every year with Galesburg. Gives us Let's us to take our kids up there to take the courses they're not going to, so. >> [laughter] >> So. I'm sure he's not the only one who We've actually They were told they were supposed

to. >> Just a sidebar, uh my first year uh Margie we Margie and I were talking and Brad at the time was the principal and I said, "How many kids do we have going to JAVC?" Uh uh six, maybe seven. I think J 8 that year. And I Well, she's got to take it. Yeah, she's got to Yeah, she's got to take it. We're up to almost 50, so. That was the goal. She looked at me and said, "I want to get 50 kids there." And she looked at me like this and I said, "You can do it. I know you can." I said, "There's too much there." And our kids have have done really well with it, so. Very happy. Margie's done did an outstanding job with that as long as well as uh
