Result that the following consent agenda items be approved. 8 cse and CPSSE recommendations and nine A throughJ financial reports. May I have a motion? >> A second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? Any opposed? 5. We have a couple recognitions. Perfect. >> Uh, congratulations to Michaela Liskup who won the PCIC F4 first team allstar squad and Janet Deetsz named the second team allst star for basketball. And congratulations to this year's Chamber of Choice recipients, Kaylee Adams, Garrett Dendress, Alexander Holshire, Nathan Perio, Pearson, Grace Town, Zane Johnson, Carson Kerber, Lucas Dixon, and Addison Walter, and also teacher Jen Brown. And finally, congratulations to Mrs. Patterson's environmental science team for taking
first place at the local marathon. They will be traveling to Courtland in May to compete in the state competition. So, congratulations to everyone. We have a presentation on the code of conduct. >> You know what? >> All right. So, um, every year following slide two law, there it is. You have to adopt an event appropriate code conduct um, just to keep everything worthy. So each year we uh get a committee together which includes uh teachers, staff, uh students as well to go through coconuts that we need to make if any. Um but it still needs to be adopted every year that needs to be listed for a 30-day comment period which we'll commence after we'll review. Um so we did meet uh you go to the next slide. Uh our meeting we met this year
was our leadership team at our high school BLC our building leadership team. Each of those teams includes teachers and students. So something um so we met and we went to discuss all the code and we came up with a few changes for this year um that are consistent with other schools um as well as some changes we need to see here in our school. So we're going to go to the next slide. Um so the two notable changes uh the first one is we're in section or sorry page seven which is in the student responsibility section we're adding a language that says refrain from engaging in any behavior that disrupts or interferes with the learning environment or educational process of other students. This doesn't carry anything with it other than it's in the responsibility section.
So you guys are a section superintendent section of section and so the teachers this just goes in there. the preamble essentially to the code of conduct and it talks about what students should do and that's part of learning responsibilities is not disrupt learning others. Um the second thing that we like to add is a section under the search section which is in the back of the code of conduct after the discipline stuff. Um this is just to add in language that could allow for a hand metal detector like a line. Um, we've had some incidents occur more recently and more often about with vapes and ecigarettes and specifically marijuana pens. Um, where has some ill students get very ill from it. Um, this would be like the last line of defense if they come to
my office or any of our offices. Um, be honest with us is the first one always suspension will be less if you're honest with us. And then there's a secondary one where we can ask them your pockets and so on. Um the third would be listen if we have to search in the metal detect period it's an instant 5day suspension because we have to get this far. Please be on this before. Um they're not just carrying a marijuana in your pockets. They're typically hidden in places and this help us find them. Obviously we're not searching those areas but if you're wearing it like shorts and your metal detector goes off a pocket or something else in there. Um so it's just language on how that would be conducted. All this would be documented as it
is for all searches. Um and then the seizure portion we collect the legal cont. So those are the normal changes for this year like I said 30-day comment period and then at the board meeting. Any questions? correspondence. We did receive one thank you note from Mrs. Pascali for the treats that we passed out. So it goes to all of us. Um so thank you for appreciating the treats privators and supervisors. All right. Good evening. It's May. It's a wild ride. We are um ending the year. So, planning and excited about our incoming prek and kindergarten screen will take place the first week of June and we already have families calling and setting that up with us. We'd like to send a send a huge congratulations to our elementary musical theater club. They did a presentation
of conflict resolution in the land of Oz. It was a Wizard of Oz themed musical. It happened this week under the direction of Mrs. Gracie Rosen. Many other teachers helped as well as two high school students. Thank you to Grace Savier and Lydia Peterson. And we also had two teachers help with the the um set. It was absolutely beautiful. We had over 140 family members show up yesterday for that event. It was just absolutely spectacular. We were really excited about the way that this program is growing to the point where we thought maybe next year we need to be on big stage. We just want to give a shout out to three of our sec three of our second graders in Mrs. Dana's class. They entered the Senator Galvin's or fake culture contest. they actually
entered poetry and they we had three seniors from our school win. So congratulations to Coranto River Griffy and the doctors. Um I will put in the update the link so you can actually look at them all. Beautiful. And then um something's always going on in the library with Mrs. Kowski. She had students enter an early coloring contest and we had three winners again from Mollins our group Brian Eldridge and McDonald and our AP um biology students were help were helping as judges for that. Uh we had our students show up at the H community center last night to also participate in the vote. I think some of our community members also voted in our final spirit day on June 22nd. It'll be announced tomorrow by our loudspeakers, but beach day won by a landslide. So,
it'll be beach day on June 22nd of April. And last but not least, just want to send a congratulations to our assemblyman, David Pierro. He um came out to present our teacher of the year and the elementary school that went to Mrs. Becky. Welld deserved here. We're very excited for her. And lastly, just congratulations again to our elementary retirees, Miss H. Thank you everybody. How are you? >> Um first it was a really beautiful evening. Thank you for what you did. Congratulations. So congratulations on your service. Thank you. Um just want to kind of give a couple of quick updates. The first is obviously project middle school. Most of you were at the um the capital meeting earlier today. Probably got a little bit of that, but um we're working the uh contract working the
classroom um through the day work. It was interesting pulling off and seeing all the equipment out there on Monday. Um but they've been really really helpful and very committed to making sure that we're ready to go. probably the oil room right now currently for some work in there. Um they're finishing up the playground in the first space. We're excited about that. Um hoping to have that year. I want to thank Mr. Chris, Mr. Ash, our custodian contractors and return team for all the work they've done and communications on this project has been really great. Um, additionally just appreciative of our staff because they've been super flexible around the classrooms and uh parking restrictions and stuff like that. They've been great, super easy to work. Um, so very happy. Um, New York State testing updates and
finished so all done last week. The window closed on Friday the 15th. Um, our students completed ELA and science assessments over a 3we period. Um we had 91% of our students take the assessment um which included the entire sixth grade um which our accelerating students in math and science did not have the test obviously because I think the regions coming up into June and then refuses were a little bit higher in the seventh and eighth grade cohort which I kind of expected because they're seven eth but still fairly low 91% um of our students took the assessments um sixth grade was great fifth grade was very uh we met with NJHS inductees that are coming May 27th um we met with them to discuss the induction ceremony um will have 16 students um that will
be inducted into our chapter that makes sense um fair being held right now uh kids are super excited to be going down the auditorium and U student during lunches, recess, study halls, BLA classes are going there um coordinating time to take students through it. Um so a lot of traffic is going that way and class out. Um some just additional highlights to share your calendar um has been kind of set which includes final exams and projects and all four classes will begin in June. We have several field trips across all grades that are being planned. Thank you to PCB for help with those those things as well. Um Thursday, June 4th is the spring music concert and we have Friday, June 12th is golf day presentation and eighth grade trip. And then finally, June 23rd
is questions for me. Thanks. Hi everyone. Just a couple quick things for me. Um first um in the fall I mentioned that our district will be doing the indicator 8 this year for the state performance plan which is um parent involvement. So we had to ask um our families um at their CSC meetings this year to fill out a parent survey. um that was a non-s serve that goes to the state um asked about how our department is um communicating with families um and so we were able to meet our goal this year um of the percentage completion so I think all families who took the time to complete that survey at the end we did annual reviews this year um and we'll see the results next year so we'll see what what happens with
that um we're also working with the curriculum committee for kindergarten through sixth grade um because they are up for for renewal for curriculum. This year, the committee decided to um explore other programs throughout next year um to look for uh if there's a better program to adopt um to begin the 2728 school year. So, by the end of this year, we'll have um at least one or two pilot programs to explore for next year and by the end of next year, we'll make a decision um if we're moving to a different group. And last we had um stall from year two our literacy coach um support us the past two days um this past week um to work with grade level teams on continuing with their science of reading learning and we're hoping to continue
with our past year as well. Any questions? >> All right, I have some recognitions that I want to do earlier and I forgot as well. So first to Gina Gates and Chris with Muller they were inducted into the National Technical Honor society through war um you have a minimum of 3.5 GPA and then model seven attributes from the Nths which is skills honesty service reliability sorry responsibility scholarship citizenship and leadership so congratulations to them also be recognized that graduation um some by former graduate of ours will write our 2022 valadictorian and he just graduated from a micro college as their valator. Um, which is awesome news. It's hard to do in high school. He did that for full college and he's on in the fall for school. Um, I'd like to recognize Andy. She earned
the educator inspiring a generation award from Senator Pat and also the teacher of the year award. And then also just a shout out to um Austin Pearson, Chris Ryaki for all the work to do in the tech department and getting things ready for next year um for our budgeting and all of our ordering and also getting the most all fixed up working out. Um some other news prom next Friday side banking facility. Um we are excited to have that postp promise to follow. We have a ton of donations that are coming in. We'll also do our pre-run demonstrations uh with the juniors and seniors. A shout out to Mrs. Winter and Mrs. Qual organizing the eighth grade shadow day um with Mr. Benjamin and I. We're able to get that all set up. The eighth
graders had a great time and really had a a good experience in high school. And also we are celebrating our first day of service that happened before festival. Our first annual day of service that started with the seniors. Um it was run by uh George Smith and Winter and Mr. Sorenson. They got the seniors together to do a full day of service. We had students that went to the teachers desk in Buffalo to pack bags for them. We went to um the rock to do some volunteering there to set up bags. And then we had students setting up for the tool festival and also around the ground. So it's a great day for service and then just congratulations again to Mrs. Hall question. All right. Thank you. had a successful budget vote. So, huge thank
you to the board and the community for their support. We're happy that we made it through that. And now we're getting ready to work on next next year all over again. Um, huge thank you to Sue. Getting that boat up and running, getting it prepared, getting it set up, and then closing it down at the end of the night. It was, you know, small task and she makes it look easy every single year, and we are very grateful for that. German. >> So I just want to say thank you to the community um for a successful budget though. Um I think we have developed a very costly conservative budget to build so that we can continue to move forward. Um not just budget not knowing really what our savings is going to be as you
know like 72. Um although today the day after the budget they did send us information that um our state aid runs we're going to be um getting the 2% we relied on otherwise we would be you know draw so very helpful anyway um at least we're getting what we thought we plan to get um the transportation department had um a vehicle assessment safety um conception that often happens 95% which I think is They're also considered GR so short. Um, so that's impressive. You know, they they're such a community over there. You know, I spent a lot of time over there. I've done so. And I want, you know, we have such dedicated employees that they try to produce and they don't want to take off because they know how much we are. So, it's very
impressive. Um, so kudos to them. I just want to congratulate everybody that was celebrated tonight. And I'm sorry if you know the people that weren't here. I hope that they know how much we recognize their service and their dedication to all of our kids who, you know, make us very proud and what we're all about actually. Um, we are working to meet a lot of those things. Um, and we have a lot of advocates in most positions, not in speech, not in supervisor, but we'll get there. And for the most part, um, that's what we did. I the only thing I can say when I say while you're sitting here, be a great and I say it all the time. I say every time I interview Mary Joe tell you when she's sitting there I
tell you I got invited to Mr. Schmid's classroom and it was just awesome and they're high school. Right. Right. I say you say to yourself like in a boring man but they have some incredible questions and they say things like I run into a couple in they're like how things are launched and they you know I came home and I told my mom didn't they didn't know that so they did pay attention right so I I I was very happy and and it I don't know it's just very heartwarming to me because I went to a meeting last week um and we're very fortunate is that I heard some stories very around the area in different schools and we are very lucky because I do have great kids. We have great families um who support
us and I'm very proud of that and we should all be and you should know that. Thank you. Grace, do you have anything more to say about that? um I wasn't able to participate in service in terms of AP classes, but that was actually discussion about moving forward to um forward ways that you could have AP students also participate. So that's kind of brainstorming. I don't know the time was because we did it that time because um we wanted to help with setting up festival but then also maybe to do a second day where they can go out. But that's just brainstorming. And Sue is incredible. I told her yesterday she does make it easy. She doesn't know what people like. >> I lose a lot of sleep. >> Yeah, she does. She hasn't slept
for about a week now, but still happy birthday. Resolved that the board of education approve the attached 2026 27 BOE meeting dates. May I have a motion? >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? I vote. Five zero. Upon the recommendation of superintendent of schools, the board of education approved the joint community education program at the East Aurora Union 3 School District for the 2627 school year and the contract to be executed by the superintendent. May I have a motion? >> A second. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> All in favor? I any opposed? Result that the board of education approve the resolution as attached for the district to authorize the block to negotiate data privacy agreements with vendors and third party contractors on the district's behalf. May I have a motion? So a second.
>> Any discussion? This is for yeah >> the rural outreach center you know how we give them space here and they come in with our students so that's great for because um Austin privacy certainly I don't tell you how we have to go through so when they have third party vendors they have to be told that for us um on that note I I think this might be the right time to add and I forgot to tell you um I met with the rock with um Scott and with K our counselor because we asked if we could increase our services. So, we have PM for quite some time in the elementary school and we had them this year for the first time. We brought them to the middle school. Um, they come in with lows.
So, it's not really they are our students who have already seen them anyway. Um, so we requested if we could have maybe a bigger presence, we certainly have room to house them and also possibly they would move up to the high school. Many years ago, I have created a partnership with the county and we have a mental health counselor coming to this building. And unfortunately for us, she was the same woman all these years and it's still been coming. She's retiring and they're hardressed to find somebody to replace her. So they're still working on it, but who knows what's going to happen. um the um people that we met with any counselor who works with us primarily said she has a wonderful relationship here with the elementary school. Now we're developing middle school. Um they
really appreciate that they could reach out to them all the time and try to do a partnership and that we're willing to have to help our students more. They hope that they may have um an ability to hire and increase middle school. Unfortunately, they're not going to be able to come to that high school. This time they qualify number one and number two, they're just they haven't expanded that much there. Um I think the best thing that I heard was that um it things have been so successful that now they've enveloped families and they actually have like families of students that we've seen actually go to the world outreach center that they're working with which we all know is is definitely a huge plus and hopefully we make everything you know work out better right
we're all on the same page the families are about um what's going on so we need to hijack but I think it's import that you know and we'll continue to try to build the relationship and continue praying that the county is going to be able to complete pay for services as long as we get out of space and not not to go over this is a different rock here this has to do with the data protection with third party contractors um this is something I think we've done for the last the risk operations center that's You're welcome. >> Yeah. So, this is like I think the third year, second or third year. So, I do have any motion. Uh resolve the board of education of Holland Central School District hereby agrees to enter into the
attached contract with perceives for a three-year period commencing on May 29th to authorize Western New York Regional Information Center to furnish computer services in the district pursuant to law and amount not to exceed $100,000. authorized 36 month payments to hear those and amount not to exceed $2,777. The approved result of the board of education of the Holland Central School District authorized the board president or the district clerk to execute the contract on behalf of the district. I have a motion. All in favor? I. Any opposed? We have a discussion on rural schools association. So um if Paula has some notes on recent events but I don't have um initially when I go to the conference I really like for us but after spending the day they do a lot of the same things that um
but they really do focus on the border district in yet would be July 1st. I mean it being the school year. So we have decided to do one donation to recognize our PTO donated to be split between sophomore class members that assisted with the PTO bank. So best of all um we have uh committee reports ECASB RSA heard about RSA PCASB um our our group was part of the union road rail team a few years ago so we're doing great there. Uh yeah, the um I attended the legislative breakfast and Senator Val and William Conrad spoke as comrade and um you know they were very optimistic that the uh state budget would be coming to a close but you know still kind of in but they they gave us some good feedback and said that
we were going to get the 2% and that you know they're really trying collaborate on the um zero emission buses knowing that districts are struggling with that. So hopefully we'll see some type of movement there. Um the annual dinner is coming June 12th if anybody wants to attend. And then I got a notice from um NISPA and um Senator Balman's office that um the bill for to put forth that to for us to create a health insurance refund reserve fund is currently in it was yet yesterday it was part of the state local government committee agenda. So, um I'm pretty sure it probably went through, but that was on the agenda yesterday. So, we were contacted also um to make sure like did they want us to write did they want us to ask them
to write a letter in support and I said yes and it was supposed to be our whole is that it would be passed. >> Yeah. >> It didn't sound like they were going to give us Yeah. So, >> and there were a couple of districts at the same time. >> Yeah. And then ECASP is going to put together a committee for um the districts to talk about the zero because it's such a big topic. >> So, it's been pushed out. >> Yes. But some districts are looking for more. So, we're going to get together and talk about it in the summer. So cuz I think I don't know I fail this this what but takes project 5 years they have to put forth a project for 5 years and that means you have to do
a project right now roll it out get it approved by next year totally it's not going to work >> no so I'm like well that's why I we talked about it at the um legislated meeting in May and and it it was the general consensus among the district that we'll get together over the summer and talk about corners because it definitely is affecting not just oursffecting everybody's some policy I don't think there's anything new open for negotiations transportation technology uh facilities meeting we had earlier today mostly there were updates on the progress of the current capital improvement project they're doing very well there was some discussion of the uh optional items that still haven't been finalized the big one was that uh the high school stage rating system. They got bids in um for roughly
$100,000, but then we'd also have to hire a theater consultant to design the scope, which will be additional. And we have to submit a totally separate project to nothing from our report is mandatory to replace. So, they're going to revisit it at next meeting, but we kind of talked about not pursuing that as part of this project. And there's nothing else really new on there except some of the costs that we'll see back the hard costs were before they were estimated. We have some upcoming events that should be up there on the board. We have upcoming meetings are next June 22nd we have >> um round table discussion grace I want to let class goam >> that's understandable skipping the ass. >> She's good. Um, I would just like to say congratulations to a couple
of board members who achieved new levels of uh of training excellence awarded by NASA even though we weren't uh recognized as in past years. Um, so congratulations to Russ and Paula for achieving the next level. Um, training, Mr. President. Thank you. Thank you. Um, so resolved that the board of education adjourn to executive session at 6:50 p.m. for the purpose of discussing litigation as it relates to the CBA cases and the employment history of particular second. Any discussion? All in favor? Any opposed? 5 Z. Thank you.
