To the flag of the United States of America and to the stands, one nation under God, indivisible guests presentation for us. >> Well, good evening. We're so excited to start off appreciation month with highlighting some of our first grade student performers. Here today we have with us Hope, Kora, Willow, Rihanna, Griffin, Eli, Ember, Jack, and Silus. And they have been working with Mrs. Roabos for some holiday themed music just for you. We hope you enjoy. This is our first time performing in public. >> Five little pumpkins sitting on a cake. The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late." The second one said, "There are witches in the air." The third one said, "But we don't care." The fourth one said, "Let's run and run." The fifth one said, "We're ready for some fun." Then
went the wind and out went the light. And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight. [applause] Thank you first. [applause] All right. So, on the recommendation of superintendent of schools, the board of education approves first items 4 through 7. May I have a motion? >> Second. Second. Russ discussion. All in favor? Any opposed? carries 70. Administrators, is there anyone in attendance you'd like to recognize? I don't believe there are any amendments or adjustments to the agenda. Resolve that the board of education approve the minutes from the September 22nd, 2025 regular meeting. And they have a motion. >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> Any oppos? Resolve that the board of education approve the minutes from the October 10th, [music] 2025 special meeting. A motion. So move >> a second. >> Any discussion?
All in favor? >> Any opposed? >> 70. Resolve the following consent agenda items be approved. Aka, CSE, and CPSC recommendations and 9 A through J financial reports. I have a motion. >> Second. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I >> oppose. Motion carries 70. We have an audit presentation. >> Thank you very much. Uh my name is Sarah Handley and I'm a director with Milwaukee. Uh we performed your external audit for the June 30th, 2025 fiscal year and I'm here to present you the results of that audit. Moving through the slide presentation, the products of our audit. What we are hired to do for the district. First and foremost, we are hired to issue an opinion on your basic financial statements. You receive all the information in the basic financial statements from management and be
only opinion on those financial statements. For June 30th, 2025 fiscal year, the district has received an unqualified opinion, a clean opinion that's the best that you could do in an external audit. There were no identified material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in relation to your financial statement audit. We will likely talk about on upcoming slide one significant deficiency in compliance [music] as it relates to real property tax law. Um but no financial excuse me no financial statement related material weaknesses or significant deficiencies. We also issue what's referred to as a management letter. That's our opportunity to provide to the district um certain best practices, future accounting uh pronouncements that will affect the district. We have communicated those with management. Um and that does come in a formal document as well. The third item that we issue
is what's referred to as an auditor communication letter. This is a standard letter that's issued every year as an outline of our communications with the district that include what our responsibilities are as our as your auditors. Um certain estimates that are in the financial statements. It clarifies and explains our independence which you're looking for in an external audit. We had no disagreements with management. We had full cooperation of everyone that we came in contact with. Um we ask for a lot of information through full access to the books and records of the district. And then lastly, we issue what's referred to as an extra classroom activity report. This is a standalone financial statement um in regards to your extra extra classroom [music] activities which are the clubs of the district. I'll be receiving that as
well. Moving on to the next slide, I'll take you briefly through some [music] of the financial results for the June 30th, 2025 fiscal year. This chart here represents a 5-year trend of the general fund revenues and transfers in, which is the blue line, versus the expenditures and transfers out, which is the red line. This year, the red line did exceed the blue line, resulting in an overall slight decrease in fund balance of the district by about $567,000. Main components of the changes in your revenues and expenses yeartoyear on the revenue side of things, total revenues amounted to $22.3 million versus slight increases in your revenues of um in relation to real property tax as well as state aid. That state aid can fluctuate year to year. We did see an increase for the 2025 fiscal
year. On the expenditure side of things, total expenditures amounted to [music] 22.9 million. It's about a 2.1 increase compared to the prior year. Main drivers of that year-over-year change are fewer benefits [music] line about a million dollars of an increase compared to the prior year. That's tied to health insurance costs, state retirement mandated costs. And then the other item within that increase is the transfer out to capital projects fund. There was a $1 million approved use of the capital reserve um to fund future capital projects. That shows as a reduction of the reserve and a transfer out or essentially an expenditure to reduce fund [music] balance of your general fund. So that money has moved over to the capital projects fund. It's no longer sitting in the reserve that is um showing as an increase
in your expenditures. Again, that slight decrease in overall fund balance about $567,000 amounting to your final fund balance in the general fund at year end 4,627,000. The next slide represents a 5-year trend of the components of your fund balance. So, you have an overall equity position, which we refer to as fund balance, but it's broken up into different classifications. The red category there, $2.2 million, is your restricted fund balance. That's fund balance that cannot be touched. Set up any legal reserves including your unemployment reserve, employee benefits, um reserve, um leaving your blue section to be considered available fund balance. Within that section, it's further broken down into unassigned or assigned fund balance. It's worth noting that because within that $2.4 million blue category [music] is something that's referred to as assigned for the subsequent year.
So through the budget process, the district has planned to use about $1.2 million of fund balance if if the budget were to come to fruition. That's categorized in the blue section there. That leaves your unassigned or unearmarked available fund balance at about $1.2 million at June 30th, 2025. And the last slide presents that unassigned fund balance at $1.229 2.29 million um and [music] three prior years as they relate to the fund balance that's um subject to section 1318 of real property tax law. Um that's a New York state law that says the district is limited to unassigned fund balance of 4% of the next year's budget. So as I mentioned there is a significant deficiency in compliance. This is where that stems from. Um the district has exceeded that amount. um but has plans and
has the ability to address that over within the financial statement. So the district's aware of it and has plan use for what exceeds 4%. That concludes the formal part of the presentation. I'm happy to answer any questions now or my contact information is on the last slide as well if any questions come up [music] in the future. Great. Thank you very much. Any special matters, recommendations, correspondence? All right, we are to our privilege of the floor. Um, I just like to remind everyone that uh we cannot talk about any personally identifiable information or names of students um during this session. Um, if we do, I'll have to ask you to stop and to our next speaker. Um, so we have two of the floor uh this evening. First will be Rick. >> Wherever you're um
thank [music] uh good evening. Uh my name is Rick. My wife and I, Lauren, have uh two children. One lives here. My son lives here and my daughter, she goes to the middle school. She's 10. And the board and the superintendent, you guys are all aware of the ongoing investigation on on a student child that has made uh threats of violence towards other students. My daughter was named in these threats. [music] Other students have been named in these threats. These threats uh these the threats are murder, castration, hanging people, 10-year-old boy. All right. Um this kind of language and threats, the person that the child that made this shouldn't be allowed in schools. Shouldn't be allowed in the middle school. Common sense guy. Okay. You have the power, the superintendent has the power to deny
this kid from coming into the school. I talked to local superintendents. They say that the commissioner's hearing, it is a polite suggestion to you. The board has nothing to do with it. It's up to you. It's up to the superintendent. We contacted a lawyer. He verified what they said and it's up to you. God forbid something happens and you decide to let this kid back in. First of all, there's going to be a delayed response because the board decided to cut the funding to the, you know, SRO. We got no resource officer. So, the cops are going to show up late and you will be responsible. Nobody's you're in charge. You're in charge. You're in you're in complete control. You're not handcuffed by anybody. This is going to be your problem. Your your your priority
should be the safety and security of our children. our children, the community's children. Okay? Not the the [clears throat] children are uncomfortable because of [music] the threats that this child made. Um, please don't let us down. Please don't let us down. You got to You got to get this kid out. You got to get this kid out. Please don't let us down. Um, I'm afraid that he's going to go in there and and make good on his threats. And how would you feel about that? I mean, it's not a pleasant thing [music] to pitch. I know I know that uh I know you got other things on your mind, but this is this is far more important than anything to me. Okay? I'm this is the calmst that I've been, and I'm I'm trying my
best to say the things that need to be said, but bottom line, this is [music] your decision. Nobody else's. Not the boards, not the not the commissioner. Nobody. And if I don't know what else to say, [music] I guess I'm done. Um, furthermore, we contacted a lawyer and he suggested to us that [music] we fill out a Dano report, which all the members of the board will be given a copy of. There should be a Danza officer. I don't know who that is. I I leave that information. And um, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. If anybody wants to message the floor, >> our next privilege of the floor, Michael Rush, happy to be me. Good evening, everybody. Um, I'm going to very much share the same sentiment um that was just shared,
but I'm just going to go ahead and read off what I wrote uh for you guys here. So, good evening. My name is Michael Rush and I'm the stepfather to a [music] student that received threatening voice messages from a classmate in the Holland Middle School on October 4th of this year. I also worked for Monroe and Boseies for 23 years with students that have developmental, social, emotional and learning disabilities. I spent the last 10 years with Boseies [music] as a crisis intervenor and behavioralist too and have extensive experience with these types of incidents. Let me begin by expressing my profound gratitude to the board of education, to the superintendent, and to all the administrators of the schools. Um, sorry, for your dedication and care to [music] our children's futures. There is no doubt in my
mind that each of you have their best interest at heart. I also want to convey [music] that this is not a winch hunt, but rather an attempt to ensure that all children [music] receive an equitable and safe education. However, I do call into question the district's ability to provide that education with safety as the top priority. There is no question that the district is struggling financially. uh an exorbitant percentage of Holland's high school students [music] are choosing trade schools over traditional education and that means the district has to pay tuition. Students that need higher level of care than Holland can provide uh also require the district to pay tuition creating further financial [music] strain. Furthermore, we have recently relieved our school resource officers of their positions and have let go some invaluable teachers. I understand
that at this level the school is run as a business and the bottom line matters. I fear that may become a factor in your decision. I want to make sure that the bottom line does not exclude safety. I would ask if we are at the point that the school cares more about retaining funds than student safety or were we at the point that the district can simply no longer afford to keep our children safe. If it it is clear that the threatening messages sent to my son uh and his name peers were reactive rather than proactive, I can only assume that this is why the incident was deemed a noncredible threat. I heard the messages and they were deemed a noncredible threat. But what happens once that reactive aggression turns proactive? We know the student
in question lacks impulse control and delayed uh and displays poor decision-making skills [music] both through observation and clinical diagnosis. Please consider placing the student in question in a school that has the ability to [music] meet the specific set of needs. A school [snorts] that has the ability to protect other students from his physical harm and verbal assaults. I am however a realist and I understand that probably will not happen. So, what steps will you take to make sure no harm comes to anyone else? >> Okay, almost done. >> You got something quick to finish up? >> Yep. Just a second. I'm almost there. uh by not taking a firm stance today and allowing the student in question to return to the Holland Middle School. I fear that we are fostering an atmosphere for greater mass
damage within the school and upon our students. That will be on our hands, every one of our hands, because we have seen the warning signs. We will also be filing document reports, demand letters, and pursue other legal options if needed so we can ensure that there is a safety plan in place and the return date that we are aware of, not only for retaliation against my son and his peers that were made, but for the entirety of the Holland Middle School population, staff and students. Thank you. Um, we do have some copies of the threat assessment uh policy that the school uses if anyone would like one. There's two up here on the table. Um, just so you can review that if you'd like, but thank you for coming. We appreciate it. We have administrators
and supervisors. Good evening. Welcome to the elementary school and happy board appreciation month. There are some handwritten cards from our students. Some teachers um put some little packages together for you. And then some of our students did create your little banner back there. We appreciate everything that you do here and we hope that you're enjoying your meeting here at the elementary school. If you're able to take a peek out the window and see that our pond is up and running. And if you walk around the other side of the building, you can see part of the capital project the doors. that project is complete and the natural light during the day it's just beautiful. So looking forward to seeing that project extend with the other side of doors. A few items from us at the
elementary school. A huge thank you to our PTO for hosting a fantastic trunk or treat event. It was downpouring while we were setting up and then the sun came out. We had a huge um a great turnout. The weather held out and um we just kept all the fun going. So it was a lot of fun. Thank you again to everybody who helped out for that announcer. We will be announcing trunk winners and literacy pumpkin award winners tomorrow. So be on the lookout for that. And we're ending our Halloween fun with our annual costume parade this Friday around our track and field. [music] So fingers crossed that it doesn't rain. This month we celebrated safety week. We again hosted our volunteer first responders from our area uh for our annual touch a truck event. This
year we had special presentations for both the Red Cross and we had a K9 unit demonstration. So that was a huge hit. The kids really enjoyed that. We work really closely with Mr. Don Karp and it just grow that program continues to grow every single year. So we're thankful for uh their volunteer work. Uh again with the PTO we kicked off our room parent initiative. I spoke about that last year as well, but this is a partnership with PTO and the classroom teachers where we have a specific family member that connects with a classroom teacher. The intent is to really strengthen the relationship, make sure that we are inviting all families to be inclusive and part of classroom celebrations, but also also like classroom projects and instructionally led um groups material. So, we're excited about
that. Thank you for approving the this year's um root parents. at [music] at tonight's board meeting. And then lastly, from an instructional lens, we held our first round of grade level data meetings this um this month. This is when each grade level comes together and they bring a common data set. We're able to look at student work across the entire cohort and really do a notice and a wonder. Where are we noticing our student strengths? What are their weaknesses? How does that align to our curriculum? And then how do we make instructional moves right there in the moment rather than waiting, right? waiting down the road. So that's just this healthy data practice that we have on a six week basis. Any questions for me? Thank you. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Oh
yeah, that's tough to follow. >> Okay, coming from the middle school, National Junior Honor Society continues to celebrate the drug dyslexia awareness and also the [music] red rigid week. Students were asked to participate in a drug-free activity during their home room and then spirit days that follow. [music] Each morning we have one of uh the National Junior Honor Society students come down. They do morning announcements in order to promote spirit week and also as I said red ribbon week. Uh we've already completed [music] started on Friday last Friday mismatch day. Today was we're red day. Uh tomorrow's jersey wine day and neon day and then finally finally at the end of the week will be the Halloween costume day. Teachers are also they will be submitting their team's choice for the respectful students for the
month of October to include a brief writeup [music] of which trait each student demonstrates. For example, active listening communication, empathy and kindness, accepting differences, cooperation and respecting personal space. students that are selected, we'll get a picture of them and then we'll display their picture in the front hallways. So, look for that next month. Um, we finished a couple of interviews with uh Emma uh for two open teacher aid positions and after I finish checking references, [music] we should have some names to submit to the superintendent for appointment and then also my classroom observations are ongoing for the month of October. That's it for the middle school. questions. >> Hi everyone. Uh so we had our professional learning day on October 6 which [music] was a really great day full of learning and collaboration for our
teachers. Uh faculty participated in a range of activities from curriculum and standards alignment to state assessment data analysis, science and reading breakout sessions and least restrictive environments and progress monitoring and special education. There was also a ropes course safety training for our vised teachers. And also during this time we unveiled our classroom productions initiative [music] which is new this year. Um teachers are encouraged to visit another teachers class or two uh to steal strategies and learn from each other as some of the best professional development and supplies we found within our own walls. Uh the feedback from this day was then used to plan um our upcoming superintendent day on November 10th which is almost done with our um agenda. We included a variety of target targeted sessions uh for specific departments and also some
self-directed activities to facilitate the continued learning and collaboration among our staff. And last um we finished up our cse meetings for new students [music] who were new to our district this year. There were quite a few of them. And I just wanted to point out that no matter which building we were in um I there was so many parents who [music] were expressing how welcoming the environment is, how friendly the students are, and how attentive and rigorous and knowledgeable our teachers are. So that was really really positive to see. Any questions? >> Hello everybody. Um in the high school high school is running along smoothly. We just had BLT today which is a building uh leadership team. That's what >> so um we have so many um and so we meet with a bunch of
teachers from every uh department and also the student class presidents and they come up with any concerns and so we've had very few concerns from the student body. Um the biggest one was that the microwave was taken away for a week um in the cafeteria. So uh it's going pretty smooth up there. Um we are working our um surface planer broke today. So, I'm working with the buildings and grounds team to find a replacement, see if we can get it worked into the building or into the capital project or pull it out of my reserves and my buildings and purchase a new one. Uh, essentially the keyway sheared off and the drive shaft has been done. Uh, it's pretty old machine, but we're looking to get a new one for that. Um, our sports teams
are finishing up for their fall sports. We had the girls uh soccer playoffs who ended up losing on Saturday and the boys of the soccer team also lost on Friday, but our volleyball team and our hockey team is still going. And I am um setting up the interview committee and looking through candidates for the middle school principal position. So we plan to have our interviews on Monday, November 10th, and we'll have a committee ready. That's our first round. Then we'll have a second round and a third round with board members and aos for that. Our hope is that the person can start um in January like at the semester mark. Um Carl did not um but we will be uh starting that relatively soon. The the posting closes on Monday of next week. So we'll
be Kelly and I will be reviewing candidates and doing some screener phone calls. Uh right now we have about 15 candidates for positions. So we'll be um chopping that down to about eight to to interview for that. Um, and it is school safety month in October. So, I figured it'd be a good time to go over the stuff that we do here. Um, which we did review again in June. We have our uh student and code of conduct which covers every person who comes on campus, not just students. [music] So, there's sections for principles, teachers, board of members, uh, visitors. So, it essentially goes over the conduct that's acceptable on [music] campus. Uh, the meat of it is for students. Um, but it applies to everybody. And then every administrator here is trained in SEAG,
which is a comprehensive school threat assessment program. [music] Um, and those are guidelines that we follow through um, put on by Professor Dwey out of the University of New Hampshire, I believe. Um, and so Kelly and I received level three refresher training this year. Uh, and uh, Carl Emma and Fabio did level two, which is the the the ultimate training there, and then we did refresher. Um, so we're all trained in that. Essentially, it's a flowchart you have in front of you, and I have some copies here, too, um, [music] just of the flowchart that anyone wants to send me. Um, and so, basically, it goes over um, how to deal with different um, things that come in through school. As you know, little kids joke around a lot in school, but there are also
times that they're not joking around. So, we go through that threat assessment um, and market either a transient threat, a mountain threat, a substantial threat, and so on. Um, and we deal with those as we go through. We work as a really strong team to go through that. We also reach out to other uh principles in the area and run them through our groups to say, "Hey, you know, some of this came up in our building. What do you think was on here or what what have you done in the past?" Um, every situation is extremely unique and so we treat every situation [music] very uniquely. We contact law enforcement when needed. Um, and we still have close ties with uh officer or deputy Dryer, Deputy Ame, and also Deputy Miller who's on the road.
And so we contact anyone should we need them. We have the direct clients um and we use that and then we go through from there. Anyone have any questions? >> I just want to give credit to Sue and Joe and also Heather as well because this was the last [music] of the year for a successful audit. It is a lot of work. It is a lot of time. It's a lot of effort. um trying to do their job normally during the day and then an auditor standing in front of their desk and saying, "Hey, where's this purchase order invoice [clears throat and music] receipt from eight months ago? I need it right now or where's this part of payroll?" Um so, a lot of work goes into it and it's to their credit. It [music]
was as successful as it was. You also have an updated copy of the reserve plan [music] that's been updated to reflect just um last fiscal year. >> Okay. and superintend >> um a few things. [music] They've said most of them, so thank you. Um it's a great team. Um I have just thank Britney in the business office. Seriously, the audience is a huge thing. And I really want to especially thank [music] Britney for working with me and for coming in and finding things um in really good shape. She's very thorough and I appreciate [music] um having her at my right arm and I appreciate that. I'm sure [music] you'll be very pleased with this audit, right? We things have ended up better than we thought this year and hopefully we will continue to move in
that direction. Um we I thought and I'm sure you agree and you probably go through some sessions. Um I thought that the board conference was quite good. I really thought that they had some good sessions. Um very very well. Um it's also [music] nice to network with people, right? And like Jason said, we too reach out to other people right in our positions to try to um understand [music] how other people build things. Um transportation does continue to bring me some challenges, all of us to be honest. Um so you will see tonight you will be approving um some emergency contracts. [music] We can go out emergency contracts for 30 days. They will begin to look on Wednesday. They're not large runs, [music] but they're runs that take us many places. So it should alleviate
us so that we can have our transportation [music] supervisor hopefully more in house and not have our locate strategies and just you know that is our hope. um the um student issue. Um Jason [music] gave you an idea of how we do things and I as a parent I [music] wear two hats and I take very very seriously the safety of every single person that I'm responsible for and that is every single student and that's every staff member in our Holland community. All of that said, um I know it's really [music] hard when you don't have specific information to understand that you can trust that we have done every single thing [music] possible, that we've worked with law enforcement, that we in fact have um followed our district code of conduct, talked to various attorneys,
[music] we've also complied with the law. Um we have done everything that we possibly can do but every student [music] again is is our responsibility every single student. Um we have [music] a comprehensive plan put in place together with counselors and principles [music] and other individuals that will go on indefinitely to create and to ensure a positive and safe environment. And we will try to remain to be as committed to transparency [music] as possible. But unfortunately, we are not able to share details. So, I know it's really hard to have somebody with blind trust. But I promise you that first [music] and foremost, I'm concerned the safety of every single child in our in our district and every single adult for that matter. Um, on another note, um, the principal applications, we have many. They
keep coming in. There were a couple more I found on my desk. I feel [music] like every day I come in, Sarah's got something else on my desk for me because, you know, they're doing the technology, you know, I want to be seen. So, um, we will go through them, but even the last time that we went through them um, a couple weeks ago before I left for New York, um, we have have a handful of what we felt would be good, solid candidates. [music] So, I'm I'm very encouraged by that. I think it's a wonderful thing. We will miss Carl, [music] but like Jason said, he didn't fill out that application, did he? Um so anyway, I appreciate the fact that [music] he stepped in and he's seasoned and you know he's been able
to run the building for us. The other note that I want to make is [music] that the um professional development day when I thought very well [music] as they tell me I did look through some of the feedback that we got and it was really overwhelmingly you know positive. People were happy. [music] Um the classroom connections that Emma mentioned is something we kind of dreamed of together when we were trying to work on our strategic plan that we still have to get back to. [music] Um and you know what better place for our teachers to learn than from each other. So we're trying to afford them opportunities to [music] visit each other's classrooms so that they can get to know each other. It doesn't really have to be the same content area, right? We all
have [music] different strategies and the hope is that we continue to do something like that and we find ourselves in a position where we can start to do that in other districts as well and afford our teachers [music] the opportunity to go elsewhere. Perhaps people will come here so we can continue to learn from each other. And I think that's it. Resolve on the recommendation of the superintendent of schools. The board of education accepted audited financial statements for 2024 through 2025. I have a motion. Second discussion. All in favor? Any opposed? Motion carried 70. Resolve that the board of education adopt the [music] attached corrective action plan for fiscal year ending 63025. May I have a motion? >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? Any >> opposed? Motion carries 7. Resolve that the board
of education approved the following parents as room volunteers in the elementary [music] schools for 2025 to 2026 school year. May I have a motion? >> Second. Any discussion? All in favor? >> Any oppose? Motion carried 70 and resolve that the board of education approve the resolution for Holland Central School District to contract with Erie Bus Incorporated [music] for transportation as attached. We have a motion [music] second. >> Any discussion? >> I just have a question. for the 30 days. Does that guarantee as a certain amount of drivers? Does that guarantee? >> It's it's for two particular ones. >> Okay. Okay. And we do have the ability to extend that um for another two. We need to >> is it one bus or one bus that's taking two buses? [music] >> Two buses. Two buses. Two
groups. And it's 80%. What? >> Um what's our transportation needs of [music] 70%? All in favor? Any opposed? Motion carried. 70. We're up to our committee reports. We uh many of us just attended the conference in New York. Um it was a great experience. There were a lot of educational sessions. Um welcome kindness and consensus I think [music] across the board and keynotes be a great breakout session. I'll open it up if anyone else wants to share anything specific a lot of my attendance on the social emotional special aspects how autism. There's probably like 10 for the kids with autism how district have essential health district Joe and I went to the rural school association and once again we were we felt while we were in there that people could get us there there's There's
a whole demographic of people that understand our small budgets, our small independent. We still have all of these other expenses. So, Joe and I are going to probably get together and talk to the president. >> Yes. >> President of the World School Association. this uh information [music] this is for the autism. This this gentleman that presented this is all three come and talk to us. It's very good section and um [snorts] it really helps you understand how to identify and how to um speak to children that are autistic. um because many of us don't know how to feel and it kind of points out you know how to approach them how to you know basically make them feel so it was really good and he said it's all free come for free he said it
a thousand times that we >> free works I said we like free [laughter] and then um Tim Shriber gave a he was a keynote speaker he gave a really great uh um session on it's called the dignity index and basically it really makes you take a deeper dive into how we talk to each other and how we how we think about what we're saying. And so that really kind of it was really good. Kathy and I went to this the breakout session and it took a deeper dive into it and it it helped us identify certain situations where we're like, "Okay, this is like three or four and it's all based on this index." And so it really helped us kind of think about how we could take a really bad situation and and how
to approach it with a really good with good feedback. So, and then the last breakout session I went to was on mergers and I was like really scared to go to it because I know we're not thinking about it or I I get it. But it's just really nice to hear what they said because um I was interested and I know that there's a lot of money out on the table [music] for mergers. Um and we're, you know, there's a lot of talk with regalization [music] and everything. So, I was just curious and it ended up being a really good session. So anyone else policy updates I don't believe negotiations open nothing for wall of honor talking about transportation committees nothing new from our type plan finance and audit you all saw the audit report
presented this evening and facilities. [music] Much going over. >> There is one thing I wanted to point out from ECSB. You got a email from Jane Sullivan [music] for the um legislative action. Um, I'm going to do a a letter because this pertains to the busing. Um, they just put out a bill on the table, bill S08547. It's a [music] bill that would remove all references to electric school busless mandate. It would provide that there shall be no mandate requiring the mandate. Finally, it contains lang language that makes superintendent the sole authority determine the types of school lessons the district would purchase which really for us would be good because we ideally cannot afford this initiative. It really is it's not we just can't do it at this point in time. So what what we
can do is we can write letters and say we really don't we why are you writing can't do this right now? You got to put your facts in there. So, I'm going to write a letter and then um I'll send it to our behalf of our district. >> But those are >> we all can send. >> So, I guess that was going to be my [music] question. Is it something you could also get to pay for? So, maybe get it get it to be um so I can put it on the website. >> I'll do a sample letter and they can all print it off. Right. >> And it isn't that we can't afford it as much as they can do our runs. >> Correct. We're not at the place where they're they're going to
work for us. >> Yeah. Out of 15 runs only support for it's not really >> and it's 11 million project. [music] >> It's a bus battery problem that they don't have a bus battery that can do our battery. >> [music] >> only four four credit is also a local infrastructure as well. The local utility companies [music] are not currently um able to support that. Okay. U we have some information on upcoming activities there. Um then we have uh list of upcoming meetings round table left right table >> um just that the dessert forum is coming up for [music] the CAC it's it's free um that's where we're going to talk sit at round tables and talk to the legislator so anyways I started going in November 13th at I think 6:00 at um EC. So
I would encourage you to go, >> you know, so I can sign [music] up because then you can have a sit down conversation with other people and we can go over some of the stuff that we >> question. [music] You know how we just set up the elementary school volunteers volunteers. Can we do the library volunteers? >> You know, funny you said that. I saw that too. I love I saw that. Thanks for department to help sign that [music] program. I'm just saying [music] there are some hurdles below. I I'm glad you reminded me because I did see that and I thought my wife should go after school. >> Yeah, >> absolutely. Grace Thank you. School year is going very good. >> She was she was reminiscing that she was very >> Yeah, it's very
nostalgic to me. >> And it looks different. [music] >> Yeah, the purple, >> but they took away the farm animals. >> The cardboard farm animals, too. >> Yeah, >> they might be in storage. Let me see. Maybe a nice graduation gift for you. Right. [laughter] [snorts] Resolve that the board of education journal executive session [music] at 6:48 p.m. for the purposes of discussing matters relating to the discipline, suspension, dismissal, or removal of a particular person. I have a motion. >> A second. >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> Any opposed? Motion carried 70.
