To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Roll call. Everybody is present. Approval of minutes. Can I have a motion to accept the minutes from our November 12th meeting? Mr. Murray. Second. and Miss Aragona. All in favor? Thank you. I'd also like to thank the string quartet for playing so beautifully in the back. On the violin, we have Kathleen Quato and Ian Fishman. On the viola, Zoe Garver. On the cello, Eric Matern. and on the bass, Elias Vanderos. Great job. So, before this meeting, we invited 125 students in grades 5 through 12 who were selected for the all county music festivals as well as the Long Island String Festival Association, Lispa, and 18 students who
participated in the Peak Festival. Parents, educators, and kids festival to take a photo with us, the board. All county and Lispa students were chosen based on exceptional NISMA scores. The peak festival serves as a fourth grade introduction to the division one all county music festival. They will perform at neighboring schools and the tillis center. We congratulate all of our many talented students on their achievements. I'd like to turn it over to Mr. Kuns in the art gallery. The Burns Ciderman Gallery is proud to present the 2025 Winter Gala Festival of the Arts. This annual showcase celebrates the remarkable creativity of students in grades 9 through 12 and reflects the dedication and instruction fostered in the classrooms of Mr. Lentini, Mr. Kuns, Mr. Senna, Mrs. Turner, and Mrs. Erlic. The exhibition includes an impressive range of
artwork from courses such as studio art, drawing and painting, drawing and painting too, printmaking, AP art, and digital design. Throughout the year, students have explored a wide range of themes and techniques, developing strong skills in both traditional and contemporary approaches to art making. Highlights of this year's work include contour and value drawings, limited pallet paintings, detailed graphite renderings, and expressive monorrint landscapes. The Winter Gala Festival of the Arts not only honors the achievements of our student artists, but also underscores the importance of art education in fostering critical thinking, personal expression, and a lifelong appreciation for creativity. The art department is proud to share the talent, passion, and hard work of these young artists with the school and community. And we thank you for for your continued support of the visual arts. Happy holidays. Thank you.
>> Thank you. At this time, I'd like to turn it over to you, Dr. Lynch, for presentations. >> Thank you, Mrs. Denino. We have lots of students to uh honor tonight, and we want to start with our uh It's almost kind of boring. Horizon just wins all the time. But uh we have no doubt uh the finest uh high school newspaper in the county uh consistently and once again this staff has proven it. So Horizon, our studentled newspaper, continues to be widely recognized publication. The team once again won several awards at the annual Empire State Scholastic Press Association Awards hosted at Syracuse University. For these awards, Horizon members competed with schools and students from across New York State. The district congratulates the following current and past Horizon students. So, best overall paper bronze award to
the Horizon. Best graphic illustration silver award to Rachel Rachel Stein 25. Best graphic illustration bronze award to Addison Deury who will be getting a uh an award tonight t-shirt tonight. Best graphic illustration bronze award to Annabella Erico Landal. Best graphic illustration in a portfolio. Honorable mention to Madison Watson, class of 25. Best artwork portfolio bronze award to uh Sean Strohaer, class of 25. Best feature story, silver award to Janna Longo, class of 25. Best overall sports coverage, silver award to Justin Williams, class of 25. Best sports story, silver award to Justin Haberman, class of 25. And best sports story, honorable mention to Giana Longo, class of 25. So, first, if we could have an Addison and Annabelle come up for their t-shirts, and then we're going to bring the entire staff up, including the wonderful
Mrs. Sanders who uh guides these kids every day into top level journalism. The first time ever Okay. And tonight we are proud to recognize the Lindbrook varsity girls soccer team for an outstanding and historic season competing in conference A/B2. The team finished as conference champions with an undefeated conference record of 90 to1 and an impressive overall record of 113 and one. This achievement is especially meaningful as it marks the first conference title for the girls varsity soccer program in 10 years. And not to be undone, we also want to mention that our coach Jenna Crims was named coach of the year. So now we got all those guys got to come up for a picture. How are you? Good morning. And in only the third year as a program, the varsity boys volleyball team was
moved up an ability group after winning the conference title in 2024. Moving into a very tough conference, the boys did not disappoint. They went on to win back-to-backs conference championships, qualifying for the playoffs once again. Congratulations and come on up for a picture. Yes. One more. Yes. And then as we know uh in addition to all the winning and all the competition, one thing that makes Lindbrook special and makes our team so special is that they always put it in a context of giving back. So, the Boys and Girls soccer team, the Rockville Center Breast Cancer Coalition is a nonprofit outreach program for southern Nassau residents who are living with breast cancer diagnosis. Established in 2017, the RVCC has expanded to outreach programs outside the village of Rockville Center to include over 37 towns in
southern Nassau County, helping 100 women and their families. The Lindbrook boys and girls soccer teams are proud to have supported the Rockville Center Breast Cancer Coalition this year through their seasonlong fundraising efforts and specifically the annual Lindbrook Soccer Day event. They are proud to make a donation of $2,500 to the organization that continues to do amazing work throughout Long Island. I think there's going to be a I think there's going to be a check. >> Should we stand? in the back. >> Which one's yours? Come sit. We got a chair for you. Andrew, you good? Thank you. Take two seconds. Two seconds. >> Okay. >> Thank you so much on the on behalf of the Rockville Center Breast Cancer Coalition. My name is Susan Npalitano and this is Deb Vitali. >> Yes. And we sit
both on the board. Um we certainly appreciate this. We thank the soccer team immensely. All of these contributions go to serving our recipients throughout the year with all resources um to help them through their journeys. Thank you so much. >> Thanks so much. Thank you. Thank you. >> Yeah. Okay. Tonight we are granting tenure to Angela Rogerio Artusa, a teacher assistant at Marian Street. Angela couldn't make it tonight. Be it resolved that upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools of the Limbrook Union Free School District, Angela Rogerio Artusa, teacher assistant, who is completing her probationary period, whose services have been found to be competent, efficient, and satisfactory, be appointed on tenure effective December 15, 2025 in accordance with the provisions of section 312 of the education law. May I have a motion to accept
this resolution 2512C1? Mr. Cullen. Second, Miss Kelly. All in favor? Thank you. Congratulations, Angela. We also have a retirement this evening. Louise Young, a teacher assistant at Waverly Park, please stand. So, whereas Mrs. Louise Young, teaching assistant at Waverly Park Elementary School, has announced her intention to retire effective January 30th, 2026 after years of devoted service as a teaching assistant and dedicated educator who has positively impacted the lives of her students. And whereas Mrs. Young earned a bachelor of arts degree in foreign language linguistics and a master of arts degree in early child in childhood education. She furthered her studies at Brooklyn College, obtaining professional certification for students with disabilities. And whereas becoming a teacher was always Mrs. Young's dream. Although she began her teaching degree later in life, she is forever grateful to have
completed her journey at Waverly Park, an environment where she felt supported, valued, and fulfilled. And whereas throughout her tenure at Waverly Park, Mrs. Young positively impacted hundreds of students through her calm demeanor, deep care, and unwavering commitment to their academic and social emotional success. Whether supporting students in ELA and math, co-eing alongside classroom teachers, guiding great leaps, or providing individualized support as a one-to-one TA, Mrs. Young has been regarded not simply as an assistant, but as a true teacher, teammate, and trusted colleague. And whereas Mrs. Young found her greatest joy in the meaningful connections she built with students, especially those who struggled or felt misunderstood and in the relationship she formed with the exceptional teachers and staff who made her years at Waverly Park both happy and deeply fulfilling. And whereas Mrs. Young is known
as the exit ticket pro, never allowing a single response to go unreed or unrecorded, ensuring that every student's progress was monitored with care and precision. Her gradebook mastery, impeccable organization, and high expectations fostered classrooms where accountability and achievement flourished. And whereas her passion for writing and current events encouraged students to think critically, write thoughtfully, and in true Louise fashion, always add a little more, her love for mathematics made her the beloved saver of everything math, always ready with a resource, copy, or strategy from years prior to strengthen instruction. And whereas Mrs. Young's warmth, humor, steady presence, devotion to students, and genuine love for the Waverly Park community have made her an irreplaceable part of our school family. Her colleagues and students will miss her greatly, especially her kindness, calm spirit, and daily dedication to excellence.
And whereas in retirement, Mrs. Young looks forward to spending more time with her family, Ryan and Angela in San Francisco, Jack and Miranda, and her beloved Katie, while enjoying cooking, reading, lunching with friends, traveling with her husband, John, and supporting her 92-year-old father. And whereas the board of education expresses its profound gratitude to Mrs. Young for her years of service, her commitment to students with diverse needs, and her unwavering support of the Lindberg schools, and extends its best wishes for a happy, healthy, and joyfilled retirement. Now therefore, be it resolved that the board of education accepts the resignation of Mrs. Louise Young for the purpose of retirement with deep appreciation for her service and the lasting legacy she leaves within the Waverly Park community. Congratulations. And I just wanted to add, my children adore you
and they wanted to be here tonight, but congratulate you as well. >> And we have a little Have a motion to accept resolution 2512C2. Mr. Lunar, second, Miss Aragona. All in favor? So, as I mentioned last month, we will have privilege of the floor for any student who would like to speak. Do we have any students here tonight who would like to say something? Okay, seeing no one at the microphone, if there anyone here, we're going to take a short break. If you want to leave, you can. Okay. All right. Report from trustees. Thank you. Mr. Pleski, I'm going to turn it over to you for the facilities report. >> Okay. The facilities committee met in late November to discuss the possible c capital projects to address in the 2627 school year. Mr. Press and
Mrs. Seda presented the committee with many potential projects across um all of the district's buildings and worked with the committee to identify several priorities. The committee will tour the buildings next week to pair down the list of projects to address in 2627 and then work with the administration to formulate a multi-year plan to address the others. Also, the committee is exploring building a fitness center at the high school. The plan would require that the district buy vacant property next to the high school and the firehouse that is currently owned by the village. The funding of both the purchase of the property as well as construction of the fitness center would require community approval during the budget vote in May of 26. We will update the committee uh I'm sorry, the community about plans for a
possible fitness center uh when we get a better sense of the financial commitment. We will also provide uh another facilities committee update at our January board of ed meeting. Uh all I can say about this is other communities over the last few years have significantly updated their facilities from older outdated what used to be weight rooms and are only really effective for like athletes. We're looking to expand this so that it's a fitness center that could be used by all the students in the district, you know, whether it be teams or just fizzed classes. We we currently ought to uh offer fitness for life classes, you know, for a few uh kids. And it's a waiting list to get into those courses. If we were to build this, we'd be able to offer that to
many, many more students. And you know with childhood childhood obesity being such a major issue in this country you know playing in gym class or learning a a you know a particular skill whether it be dodgeball or or you know basketball or whatever we play in gym. I I don't want to speak to what Limber gym teachers do, but you know, actually being in a fitness center and learning about cardio and learning about nutrition and learning about, you know, movement and stretching and and weight training is really the most valuable skill you can learn in physical education because that's not something that you're going to forget readily and it's something that you'll then that's knowledge you'll acquire for the rest of your life and it's for lifelong fitness. So, this is definitely something we're looking
to do. Um, also and in speaking selfishly as a coach, you know, it's very hard to stay competitive with some of these other towns who've built multi-million dollar facilities. If you see what Sioset or Plane Edge or some of these other programs have built, it's it's absurd. It looks like a New York sports club on campus. We're not looking to do anything that, you know, extravagant, but we are looking to compete, you know, with other districts in in our athletic programs. Um so if we consider the physical education angle and the athletics angle to me this is a small commitment that the community could make you know uh going forward. So again we will provide another update on this when we have a better idea of what this will entail financially. Thank you. >> Thank
you Mr. Pleski. Um Mrs. Aragona for the shared decision-making committee. The district has implemented a centralized shared decision-making website. The SDM website provides a unified location where the public can access information for each school's shared decision-making committee. These individual committee pages include current membership lists, scheduled meeting dates, and approved meeting minutes. By organizing this information in a single accessible location, the district ensures that families, staff, students, and community members can remain informed about the work and progress of each SDM committee. You can find the shared decision-making website on the district's main page under the district tab, then select district initiatives. The winter newsletter should which should be homes or in homes around the February break will also be focusing on the SDM initiative. >> Thank you Mrs. Arguna. Mr. Cullen Bose's budget leaison. >> Thank
you. Uh it's just a basic report. Uh Nassau Boseis adopts 26 budgets a year, one for each of their programs. Each component district can have a representative. I am the rep for Limbbrook. There is an orientation tomorrow, December 11th. It is an overview of how Bose's budgets are prepared. The specific budgets will be reviewed at two meetings in January. The bud Bose's budget vote is Tuesday, April 28th. >> Thank you, Mr. Cullen. Mrs. Aragona, PTA leazison. The Limbrook Council of PTAs is excited to announce its next parent university in collaboration with Limbrook Schools and Northwell Health. The presentation will focus on school avoidance tools, teamwork, and turning it around. It takes place on Thursday, January 8th at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 for a light dinner at the Limbrech High School cafeteria. The session
is designed for parents with children in preK through grade 12. Please look for the flyer and RSVP if you are able, but walk-ins are always welcome. >> Thank you. And now from our student board member, Jackson Bowler. >> Over the course of 3 days from November 20th to 22nd, the Lmberrech High School Drama Club presented four showstoppping performances of Mamma Mia. The cast and crew delivered professional level work from the vocals to set design. Students in grades 9 through 12 contributed both on stage and behind the scenes, demonstrating the strength of our program. The production was a success and highlighted the talent and dedication of these students and directors. On November 30th, 8th grade students from South and North Middle School attended the high school curriculum fair where they learned about some of the electives
they can take in high school, including journalism, virtual enterprise, cooking, and science research. Students were then given a tour of the building by our student government association. Over the past few weeks, Lindrech students have been participating in their winter concerts. These concerts feature performances by each school's band, orchestra, and chorus groups. Some upcoming winter concerts are Marian Streets on December 11th, South Middle Schools on December 15th, and the high schools on December 16th. On December 14th, our high school junior and senior girls will face off in their annual Powderpuff game at Marian Street at 10:00 a.m. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. and admission will be $10. All proceeds for this game will go to the Susan G. Kleman breast cancer awareness charity. I encourage everyone to attend and support this wonderful cause. Finally, I
sent out another survey to all LHS students and receive some great feedback. I met with Mr. sce to discuss next steps based on the results and I look forward to addressing other concerns I can help resolve. >> Thank you, Jackson. Does anyone else have anything they'd like to report? >> I had the privilege of seeing Mama Mia. It was amazing. Every year I say, "Wow, can the talent top last year?" And every year we have amazingly talented students. And I've also had the great fortune to attend a few of the concerts and more to come. And thank you to everyone involved in making these concerts so fabulous and entertaining for everybody. Hey, I'm going to turn it over to you, Dr. Lynch. >> Thank you, Mrs. Denino. So, our first report tonight is on the
board goals. As you know, there are three board goals. The first is the profile of the owl. So, uh similar to the uh shared decision-making site, we also have a website up now for the profile of the owl that uh depicts what the uh four pillars are. Uh we also have got that image now in I know I've see it all around the district now. Actually when I was at the concert the other night I saw it in one of the fizzed rooms in the in the gym. So it was uh pretty much in every classroom just to kind of get that flow in there. And then actually Dr. Bleus will be talking in more detail of how this goal is being expressly done through its integration into curriculum. Uh the second board goal was
creating the multi-ter system of supports. Uh we've been concentrating mostly on the SEAL uh component of MTSS this year. Uh one thing that's going to happen is that Mrs. Boyce has been doing uh a uh series of trainings on our social emotional uh tier one support which is ruler. uh we had uh every elementary faculty was uh given a workshop on Monday at their faculty meeting and there's going to be a follow-up coming home to families on Friday. Uh and it's going to be introducing the concept of the mood meter. Uh so it's uh so kids can are get control of their emotions by expressing their emotions and naming the emotion and it's uh some of that training and uh we have even started there is uh if any of you come to a meeting
in my office you will see there's a mood meter sitting on the table in my office and it is something that we've actually asked people to check in and just say be you know before we start this meeting what what kind of what's the mood uh because that would be sometimes we're bringing baggage from other things into a meeting with us and it's good to just express that thing. So, we're going to put practice where we we've reached uh we we did it the other day. It was cool. So, uh and then uh Mrs. Aragona stole my thunder about shared decision-making. So, I think that goal is uh has been well implemented and some good reports on that. So, that's it on the on the board goals. Um kindergarten registration is now open. I'm happy
to say it is fully online now. So there will be no need for a pre-appoint before your screening in May. Uh it opened this week. It is all online. Uh right now there's a big announcement on the homepage that you can click on or you can go under district registration and uh it's important that you pick where there's two years there you're registering if you're registering for kindergarten it's 2627 uh that would be registering for. So that's uh up on the page now and then more information can be found on the website. It is hard to believe that we have been in the business of universal prek for five years already. Uh so we did our first request for proposal five years ago and we had uh our uh JCC was awarded the contract and
then we had to expand the program and Tiny to Tykes got uh an expansion project. Now basically the board uh is going to be issuing a new RFP to start from the scratch again. uh basic once every five years. You really can't let an RFP go for more than five years without going out for public bid. So that will be happening now. So stay tuned. Uh we are thinking we won't really know the funds available until the governor releases her budget in uh in January. We are thinking of moving up the lottery a little bit, but we'll certainly let you know more about that as time goes on. Uh and now Dr. Bleis, the curriculum update. be nice if I turn my microphone on. Sorry about that. Thank you, Dr. Lynch. Um, this year we
decided to expand the high school curriculum guide to include the middle school courses and it's been rebranded as a secondary level curriculum guide. This unified document offers a comprehensive and cohesive view of the secondary program. The new guide allows parents and students to see how course choices made in the middle school lead to different high school sequences. Please note that a few changes were made, including adding potential new courses, which we'll talk a lot more about in January, and introducing new dual enrollment collegiate affiliations. We anticipate plenty more changes, especially in the area of dual enrollment since the New York State Education Department has announced that they're going to be making some statewide changes at the end of January. The uh secondary curriculum guide is posted on the website and updates will be made as
they occur. Thank you. >> And Mr. Press, if you want to talk about the food program and then we can go right into capital projects. >> Thank you very much. Um not a lot to report on the food program. Things are kind of holding steady in terms of our our numbers. Uh we have made some changes uh in terms of pre-ordering. Uh so there is no longer any pre-ordering at any of the uh LA at Marian Street Waverly um and West End. So breakfast, lunch, they're just coming in and they're just um ordering. Uh at the KC, we eliminated pre-ordering for breakfast. Uh we are still doing pre-ordering for lunch, but we wanted to see how the kids would manage the our youngest kids getting through the line. I was actually there this morning. I
watched them uh do it and uh with the help of our monitors and our TAs um the kids manage the line. So they're coming in, we changed a little bit of of the drop off in the morning, the kids get off the bus, the ones who want breakfast will go through the line um and get breakfast. Um and it's no long we're no longer doing breakfast in the classroom. Uh and so that you know the disruption to the class and the mess um when you see the mess concentrated in the cafeteria um you realize that was all happening in the classroom. So uh so no no longer pre-ordering the breakfast at KC. We are moving in the direction of getting rid of all pre-ordering uh including lunch at the KC. So keep an eye out
for that. Um, I do want to thank our elementary principles because we keep it's almost like every other week or once a month we're changing the program up. Uh, and they all just kind of roll with the punches uh and keep moving forward. So, uh, thank you to them. Um, that's all I have really on the food service. Um, capital projects kind of boring right now. Um, all the projects from the summer are are done. We're waiting for a couple of door locks um on the the bathrooms here that we did uh documentation and all the plans for the work that we're trying to get done next summer went up to the state. Um if you recall last time this year when I was talking about projects, we were doing uh we paid for expedited
review so we could get the projects back by April. Um not sure exactly what they did up at SED, but their review times now are what they're saying is about four weeks for each phase. So we're probably talking about two months. Um so we'll get the projects approved sooner than we did last year um without having to pay for expedited review. So we're looking at probably February um getting approval from the state uh going out to bid on the projects in April as well and and hopefully we can award those in uh sorry February, not April. um and hopefully we can award those soon thereafter. So um we're very excited about that. U and that's really all on what's going on in the world of capital projects. >> Great. Thank you. Back to you. >>
Thank you. At this time, I'd like to open it for public comment. >> Good evening, everyone. Thanks for letting me speak. Um, I would like to apologize to all of you for the recent grievance situation with the LTA. Um, I would also like to thank you for your understanding and compassion that you have shown this past week towards all the teachers that supposedly filed grievances, especially the untenured teachers that had absolutely nothing to do with this and had no idea that grievances were being filed in their names. I understand the importance of the grievance process as it pertains to the collective bargaining agreement. However, owning the grievance process does not mean filing personal grievances in in employees names without their consent or even a heads up that they are doing it. In the worstc case
scenario, it's malfecence. In the best case scenario, it's extremely poor judgment and poor practice and frankly a slap in the face to every member of the LTA, especially the untenured teachers. Education is a people business. It's about building meaningful relationships, not undermining those relationships. Maybe a conversation needs to be had about the issue that was grieved, but this was certainly not the way to start that process. I personally supposedly filed a grievance against three people that I hold in high regard. If I had an issue with them, which I don't, I would have just had a conversation and it probably would have been fixed. So once again, I would like to apologize on behalf of all the teachers that had grievances filed in their names and thank you for the understanding and compassion that was
shown to all of us once the truth came out. It could have ended very differently without that kindness and compassion, especially for the untenured teachers. and for that I am extremely grateful. Thank you. Have a good night. >> Thank you for your comments, M. Mcnal. >> At this time, I'd like to ask for consent agenda on resolutions 2512 C3 through C7, 2512 NC1 through NC9, and 2512 G1 through G22. May I have a motion, please? Mrs. Kelly. Second, Mr. Lunar. All in favor? Thank you. May I have a motion to accept the consent agenda? Mr. Pleski, second, Mr. Murray. All in favor? Thank you. Our next meeting is January 14th and there will be a work session on January 28th outlining new programs. We want to wish everybody happy holidays, a happy new year, enjoy
the break. And I want to ask for a motion to adjourn. Is there a second Mrs. Kelly? All in favor? Thank you. Have a great night.
