Hey, we all right. Good evening. Meeting is called to order. It is 6:01. Mr. Marshall is not joining us this evening. He will be here for the next meeting which will be his last. Uh please stand and join us for the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. >> Are there any changes or questions on the agenda? Uh yeah, we added the approval of the contract with our speech pathologist services. >> So that's 17 under consent. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And looks like we added board meeting dates. >> Oh yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Sorry. >> Anyone have any questions on the agenda? >> We

have a motion to approve, please. >> I'll move it. >> Second. Thank you. All in favor? >> I opposed abstain. Motion passes. Did we have anyone signed up for any permits this evening? No. Okay. Anyone here you want to rearrange anything for >> I don't think so. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Moving on to the reorg meeting board of education reports. I'm going to go through these three before I ask if anyone else has anything to add. Uh, it has been proposed that we meet the first Tuesday in July as our reorg meeting. Is that okay with everyone? >> It is. I just have to join by Zoom if that's okay. >> We do have to sign our oaths that date. >> Okay. >> I think so. >> Can she do that? Can she come

see you later then to sign her oath, you think? >> I'm not 100% sure. I can. >> Yeah, because you could do everything besides a signature. >> We could check to confirm what >> Yeah, I as long as that can happen then. Is everyone okay with the seventh? Tuesday the 7th. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Okay. If not, let us know and we'll find out if everyone can do a different day. But what days are you not available that the whole week? >> Yes. >> Okay. Would you like to have it done by a certain deadline? So hopefully you can just come in later. >> Yeah, I apologize for that. I didn't realize the um the timeline there. >> Sorry. Well, hopefully I can't be the only person ever who can't attend the meeting. So, I'm

sure there's something. We just can't. None of us know. >> Right. We'll find out. >> During the first 15 days, so we have to adjust. Oh, did it say 15 days? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, we need to approve that. Can I have a motion to approve? >> I thank you. There a second. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. Motion passes. Tenatively. We are all set for December. Uh we need to pick a date to do our self eval review. Um the next meeting is getting pretty full. The month is getting pretty full. You guys want to send me dates that we can't do? I'm almost like we need to do it like next week. and get it done because I don't know any of Rob's dates. So, if you want

to look >> as long as we have enough time, do we have to post this meeting? Do we self review? We do it in >> We usually do it in open session just to talk through like, okay, what were the, you know, priority areas for this year? Like, how did we do this? >> Well, then we're just going to move it into the next meeting because it's the last meeting. We're all together, >> right? Because then we're all done. So, it's going to be on the next meeting. >> Okay. >> So, for the long, right? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> It doesn't have to be long. It's quick talking points. How do we do? What do we want to improve on? >> And then the next paper that you have other than your agenda are

the dates for the proposed dates for the board meetings for next year. Um, November and December. There's options for dates. We have been doing these all back on Tuesday. Are we doing Mondays? >> We have been doing Tuesdays this year and an occasional Monday. >> Okay. Are those dates all good with everyone? Yes. But do we want to schedule the second meeting on February 23rd? I just I'm reading the note about spring break on March 24th. >> Yeah. So that's one of the things that we like took a look at. Usually between February and March, we end up with three meetings. So, one of the ideas was having two meetings in February and just one in March since the second March would file during spring break and then there's one during that first week in

April. >> I think two in February makes more sense than one over spring break. >> I do too. >> Absolutely. >> Okay. >> Um, we didn't answer the question though of Monday or Tuesday for the November and December. >> Oh, yeah. >> I if we're going to do the rest on Tuesdays, I think we keep them Tuesday consistent >> unless there was a reason you wanted them on Monday. >> Yeah. Was there a reason? >> We switched because we were talking about this. We switched um a couple years ago because the town board meetings were on Monday. So we switched to Tuesdays, >> but these specific date >> these two Why are they >> these? >> Last year I Well, this current year we had some shifts due to how like holidays fell within the

months. So, I think it was just a similar setup of looking at do you want to have it on a Monday or a Tuesday. I don't think this year like holidays impact as much as last year in terms of like even conference days for school falling on the Mondays. >> Then I was going to keep them Tuesdays unless you come up with a reason to move it and we have plenty of time to move it. But I I suggest staying Tuesdays. Do you care? >> I think staying Tuesdays is good. >> The other ones maybe to note would be in April we kept the um the shift in the meeting so that we could not have to have an additional meeting for the vote's vote. >> Okay. >> And then also in June keeping the

last meeting on a Monday to do all the recognitions together. the Wednesday one. If you don't do it Wednesday, you have your meeting on Tuesday and then you come in at 7 in the morning to vote on Wednesday. So, you might as well have one or the other on Wednesday to do that. So, >> yeah, I think that makes sense. >> Okay. Doesn't say to take action on it. We just We're good with it. We're good. >> We'll approve it, I think, at the reorg meeting, right? Okay. >> Yeah. I'll update this and then we can approve it. >> Sounds good. Did anyone else have anything to discuss for board of education reports? >> Um, I have a few things. I've been So, I attended the Memorial Day celebration for the town where the fifth

graders performed the Gross. Everybody did a lovely job. I even shed a tear. Um, I was also at the MEES band and choir competition at Daring Lake over the weekend where they both placed second, I believe. And um, I also got to sit in on a couple of senior seminar panels and it was really awesome to see how um, the project has evolved in 20 years. Um, and all the kids did really really an impressive job. So, great job. Thanks. Anyone else? All right, Dr. L, up to you. >> Okay, so I have a few things to update. Right. Um, so today I want to go through four things. Talking about unified sports, talking about our athletic director position, fall sports for this coming fall, and then just some instructional program updates. So, one of

the things that um I had the opportunity to do with Mr. Dean uh in May was go see a Special Olympics competition. they um end the unified basketball the unified sports basketball season with a tournament and this year they invited schools who don't currently participate in unified sports to come check that out. So um Mr. Dean and I went I don't know what's happening Mr. Guys, did I hit something wrong? It converted me to a PDF. It's okay. I wasn't um anyway. So, >> smarter than you are. >> We went and checked it out and had the chance to talk with some um schools that currently do offer unified sports for their students and just really felt like this is a direction that we would be interested in going. So, I linked in um just

an overview of unified sports from Special Olympics. So, I'll read just snippets of this for the board. Uh unified sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle. Training together and playing together as a quick path to friendship and understanding. So, um it gives the chance for students with in intellectual disabilities to play on the same team um with their non-disabled peers. And you uh for our region currently, the offerings would be unified um bowling in the winter and in the spring unified basketball. Um and it's a short season, so it's uh April through June. You run some practices each week and then you have a certain set number of games and then you participate in you know a tournament at the end. Um when

you start unified sports you have to start with unified basketball. So, Special Olympics for any new um teams that are starting up does provide uh monetary support to get your team up and going and there's training associated with it. Um so, that's something that we're thinking would be a nice addition to our athletic program that we would like to start next year. It would be next spring starting with unified basketball. So, I wanted to bring that in front of the board and just get any feedback to make sure the board was okay with us moving >> 100%. >> Sounds great. >> Awesome. Thank you. Next up, um, athletic director. I want to start by giving a huge thank you and shout out uh to Miss Delizer. She has been our athletic director for a long

time and has come back in retirement to do that for us. um and I think is ready to actually like have more of a retired experience instead of um being here all the time in her athletic director duties. So we are looking to share an athletic director with Gananda. Currently um misters is a 0.5 for us. Uh so an opportunity to share with Gananda has come up. uh the district would share cost and of the salary and benefits uh with Ganata so that between the two schools it would be a 1.0 position. Um we would still ask Miss D to come help support somebody new as they transition. So um helping with signups, scheduling coaching appointments, just getting a new person started and getting used to Marian and the way we do things here. So,

that was something that I wanted to bring to the board to make sure the board's okay with us moving in that direction in order to make sure we have athletic director support. >> Who actually owns the position? >> So, legacy costs. >> In this case, it would be Gan. It would be a current Gananda employee that we would share half of their time. >> That's a good question. And I agree with Thank you, Miss Deler. >> Yes. >> Any other important feedback on that? >> Will they be looking to move any of the merged teams that we currently like I'm thinking we're with for football. >> Will they be trying to move that over to them or are they okay keeping where we've established? >> Yes. So you that's our next topic. So, thinking about

fall sports, um, for fall sports next year, this is what we're projecting that our non-emerged team would be girls volleyball at all levels. Um, that's where we have our strongest number of athletes. I have our numbers on the next slide so the board can take a look. Um, then we would have merge teams at cross country, all levels with Williamson. That is a renewed merger. Same with golf. Um we only offer varsity golf. Um again that would be a renewed merger with Williamson. Girls soccer all levels a renewed merger uh with Gananda. Boys soccer this year we would move to all levels. Last year it was not all levels. It was modified in JV. Um this year it would include uh varsity as well and be merged with Gan. A new opportunity that our students

haven't had before would be um participating in girls swimming. So having the ability to participate in varsity level girls swimming merged with Gananda. Uh like I said, that's an opportunity we haven't had before, but a new one that would be opened up. And then football, um continuing our merger with for modified and JV uh with Newark. So we currently don't have any varsity level football athletes. So it would just be continuing modified HAV with Newark. So just taking a look just so people know where we're standing with numbers. So these are uh our returning athletes. So these numbers represent if our students who would age up into these grad levels next year who participated last year. Does that make sense? So, it's assuming that 100% of the students who participated last year in the younger

grade level would roll up to the older grade level. So, just so the board can see what we're looking at numbers wise in terms of volleyball, girls soccer, boys soccer, uh cross country, golf, and football. So, this is the Marian side of the estimated numbers. So, how are we sure that power students are going to get fair play time based on performance? >> I think that's something that like it would have to be like you that's something I think that has to be worked out as you get through that programming. Um we are again like we did last year trying to make sure that there's representation on the coaching side from both schools when there's merged athletics so that Marian students have a Marian person who's with them. Okay. >> Will they be host to

any of the merge teams? >> That's a good question. Um we would be host I'm honestly not sure. will be host for one of the soccerers, girls or boys? Um, I'm assuming it would be boys because we hosted boys last year and Ganada hosted girls last year. Is that right, Li? >> Uh, yeah. We have like this year. >> So, I think it would continue the same as like who counts as the host school. >> We would split those. Any other questions around that? Okay. Then, um, the last piece is just some instructional program updates. So, distance learning, as the board knows, that's something um we've really leaned into this school year and made it a priority to get that technology up and running and really have the opportunity for our teachers to share their

skill set and expertise uh with students in other districts. Uh it's something we're seeing really a continued and increasing interest in other districts wanting to partner with us for distance learning. uh we are anticipating again next year that we would function solely as a uh like a host school. So we would do the broadcasting of the class and other um schools re receive. Currently there's interest in eight Marian courses um multiple foreign languages ASL, Spanish and German and also physics. Um and again just as a reminder this is beneficial for us because we get both aid on the teacher salary and benefits for those distance learning sections. Um, and I think all eight of them I have the luxury of having Mr. Dean in the audience and he is more of a expert in this

than I am. But I think all eight of these courses are Marian students in person paired with students distance like with the host school students. Yeah, currently go. Yeah, it's possible that if demand for go beyond what we're offering for our students that we would have some that would just be distance learning, but right now it looks like all hybrid. >> Um then the next piece is just around our foreign language programming. Um this will be the first school year next school year 26 27 um that German 7 won't be offered. So um FRA has done an incredible job with our German programming um but we're looking to begin to phase out German. So there wouldn't be German 7 offered in the upcoming school year. Um similarly at least linked still under foreign language um

we would be looking to end international travel after next year's trips. Uh international travel is something that we have found has a lot of liability on the district. Um for example we just you know renewed our insurance policies to cover international travel and one of the things you have to pay for is kidnapping insurance. Um, and I think, you know, we spend a lot of time thinking about, okay, what what is the level of risk that we're comfortable with, not just for the district, but actually like taking other people's children uh to foreign places uh for a significant amount of time and being able to feel like we're sure we can keep them safe. Um, so looking at ending international travel after next year's trips, but getting creative of what are the other experiences that

could happen for kids within the continental US that could still give them, you know, a foreign language experience. So where are the other places that we could take kids to that they can still have a rich cultural experience that might just not be international? And the phasing out of German is because not thinking we can find another German teacher or thinking we need to cut that position or >> I don't think that we'll be able to find another certified German teacher to be honest. Um, we also have we're the only school in the whole Wayne Fingerlakes region that still offers three language choices for students. >> Um, which is wonderful. But in looking at I think the practicality of at some point FRA is going to want to retire, right? Thankfully not now. But thinking

about um moving forward that it's probably most realistic that we would be able to continue ASL and Spanish offerings and feeling like probably German is one of those that we haven't seen any programs that are putting out German teacher candidates. Um there must be some. We obviously haven't been like looking looking. Um, but I know a neighboring district has a German posting that has been open since March and is still open. So, I think there >> it's probably not a certification area that is getting a lot of graduates into it. Um, and German is one of the places that we had interest from other districts for distance learning this year that they couldn't find the a German teacher and are partnering with us to be able to do that. And I understand totally about the

travel. I just um I don't know just seeing how much kids have benefited from that my own personally and then so many other kids. It's >> But yeah, >> I feel like taking away like international travel, I think we need to have more opportunities for like general travel. That's taking away a big thing. >> Yeah. I' I wondered if there are like festivals like other schools have said we can't go overseas but we want to have a weekend where we speak nothing but Spanish, German, French, whatever. >> If there's something like that that we can find. >> So they still have that experience of talking the language in practice. >> Yeah. That's >> you're not going to see the castle, but >> right there's a lot of sorry >> um I think there's a lot

of like you said opportunities in the United States that could have provided very rich and cultural experience um in these areas and you know it's not a bad thing to take advantage of that you know and as I never had the opportunity to take the trips in high school age um and I was still able to find a lot of benefit in the programming and and the education piece of it. And um so I do see it as a you know it's a big hit. It's a big takeaway, a long-standing tradition, but we grow and we evolve as things grow and evolve. I mean, they may have they could also look at it as you have to have a parent go with you, >> but then maybe it's considered a trip outside of school, but

she may still be willing to organize because she's not going to want to stop going. >> Is is that something um as you talk to other superintendent that other districts are also putting >> must have already gotten rid of all that, haven't they? They told us years ago like they didn't know how much longer we'd get away with having them. So at our last um Wayne Fingerlakes BOSEY's conference for the school business officials, one of the insurance companies actually recommended the district start moving away from international travel specifically because of liabilities that the other thing um you know maybe to start thinking about now is thinking about uh this year's eighth graders would be our last students within the Germany program. Typically, we don't allow eighth graders to like they don't typically participate in like

the international travel piece. That could be something that we want to like think about for this upcoming trip because it would give an opportunity for all the kids who have participated in German to have an international travel experience to do that. I think >> yeah, that's awfully young. I was thinking panicking, right? >> You might want more. >> We had talked about that or um having administrative support honestly go with that, but like quite honestly, it's a big cost to that. It's a big cost either way, but thinking about that as if that's something we consider that there will need to be increased adult support to be able to do that. >> Huh. >> A travel club. >> That would be >> not in school outside. >> More frequent experiences, right? >> Yeah. a travel

booster club. >> Then I could go. >> All right. Um, this is not in my updates, but I have on my t-shirt today cuz I spent the day at Lake Ontario um with our eighth graders and our advanced bio seniors. They've been working again this year with University of Rochester to do some microplastics research. Um, and it was just so great. Like I love the days when you have a reminder of like why you do this work. And today was one of those days for me. So, uh, I just felt like our kids went out did um water sampling, they did some sand sampling, they did some mapping, they did, um, some social media awareness, they did some, uh, environmental art activism. so rotated through a variety of stations and I feel like had a

very rich experience and I'm very excited to see like what they pull together as their like culminating takeaways from this. Um, you know, they've designed their research questions and now have to go back and dig into all this data that we collected today. So, just a great experience and grateful for our teachers, Mrs. Goodman and Mrs. Armeala for facilitating that and certainly for our partnership with U of R to be able to make that happen for our kids. >> Were there other districts involved in that? >> No, just us. >> So, um the the April Lumen is the chair of the science education department at the Warner School at University of Rochester. And so she was my adviser for my dissertation. And just kind of since then like it's been an easy pair up to

do some projects that obviously like benefit our students but also benefit her grad students for their research. So awesome. >> Thank you. >> Noticing that we missed our student rep on the agenda. Is there anything you want to say? >> I'm sorry. >> I'm going to have you jump in right there. Um, so, uh, this was my second year going to the Special Olympics. Um, I went as a mascot, which sounds kind of dumb, but it was really fun cuz like you get to connect without actually being able to talk to them. Um, I signed the kid's forehead and it was like the most special moment of my life. >> What did you sign? >> Yeah, I I signed Knight >> cuz last year last year everyone addressed me as Mr. Knight, so I was

like just gonna roll with Night. Um, so yeah, I just signed Knight. Um, we did senior exit projects. There was people from the building. Um, some of you guys have been there. And then people from like our job careers that we wanted. So, I had someone from like U of sit in online. That was kind of cool. A little scary, but cool. Um, seal of biiteracy. Those people, most of them did it um for Spanish and ASL. Um, and got their seal by literacy. So, they get like cords and medals at graduation. Um, modified baseball and softball. They both undefeated this year. Um and softball varsity made it to the second round of sectionals. So um and similarly the track boys and girls they had winners and good PRs for um sectionals and I believe

they have skate. Um we had a choir concert and as you mentioned we did go to Darian Lake with the high school and elementary. Um, and a lot of us placed um and every soloist did get a soloist award which is pretty cool. Um, senior activities are like happening soon and we just got our yearbooks. Uh, Boseies were all finishing our courses and our graduations on the 16th and 17th and overall yeah everything's like kind of ending in graduation soon. >> Sure is. >> How does that feel, Lydia? bittersweet. Um, I'm excited to see what's beyond our little farm of Marian, but I'm I'm gonna miss this place. >> But yeah, >> good news is you can come back and visit. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Yep. Uh, so I have a couple things.

None of them are as exciting as anything Lydia said. Uh the first is the financial report. There are two significant changes in the compared to last month's for our revenues. You'll see a pretty big increase. That's because we got paid $120,000 for Agropath from Boseies. Um that's the first time that we've run the program. So it's starting to see some dividends. The other is the expenditure side. Uh we had brought in a bunch of coasters to cover the loss of grant funding that happened in December. We just got our first bill from um BT Boseies and that was $160,000 that was not really budgeted. So that's why some of those numbers have changed. So it comes out as close to a wash between some of the new revenues and some of the new expenditures. Anybody

have any questions on the report or why things came out the way? All right. So, can we get a motion to approve the financial report? I move it. Thank you. Second. >> Thank you. All in favor? >> I opposed. Abstained. Motion passes. Number two. So the next is in the process of after the last board meeting you approved me to go on the um credit card and bank accounts. In the process we found out that um Mr. Davis is still on all of our accounts and we really need to get him off and put Dr. Lloyd onto them. >> We need to do the same resolution that we did last time except we're going to add Dr. Lloyd instead of myself to this. Is that in consent or >> No, it's got an action listed

after but doesn't have any documentation. >> Okay. >> Can we get a motion to approve, please? >> I'll move it. >> Thank you. Second. >> Thank you. All in favor? >> I opposed. >> Abstain. Motion passes. Welcome to the bank account. Um the next is for our capital project coming up next year. Uh part of it is to remove the below um ground diesel fuel tank that hasn't been in use. Before we can determine the scope of the work needed, we have to do some soil testing and everything. So um our architecture firm put out to bid. We got three bids. Uh Kenny Geotechnical is the lowest bid by about $11,000. It is recommended that we part of their add-on is we can do a private utility locator. Um so my recommendation is that we

approve Kenny with the utility privately utility locator. They still come in $6,000 less than anybody else without any grasp. What is a personal utility? Got it. That's what you're talking about. >> Okay. >> All right. So, if there's no other questions, >> can we have a motion to append? >> Second. All right. Thank you. All in favor? >> I opposed. Motion passed. >> So, the next item was going to be just a update on the zero emission buses, but LA at the end of last week, the state finally approved a budget only two months late. But there are some other changes. The first one is the zero uh emission bus mandate has been pushed back five years. So, instead of not being able to buy fuel buses in 2027, it will be 2032 before we

can't buy them anymore. and before the entire fleet has to be changed over instead of 2035 it'll be 2040. So that gives us a little more time to make sure that the infrastructure is in place so that we can actually manage it and hopefully the technology that we need in the buses to catch up to the length of runs that we have that we need to really deal with. Uh some other things uh they are going to do a minimum of a 2% increase in foundation aid. So, we had budgeted for 1%. So, that'll give us an extra $94,000 give or take. So, not a ton, but every little bit helps at this point in time. Uh, there are some changes for UPK. Uh, they did go ahead with mandating that UPK for all students

starting the 2829 school year, a district has to provide. So, if we have a a kid move in halfway through the year and the parent wants UPK, we have to provide it from that point on. >> Was that pushed back a little? No, they just um >> we're pretty sure it was coming, but it's official now that it was signed by the governor last year >> for 2829. >> 2829. >> So, for us, it hasn't been an issue because we haven't run a lottery in a while, >> but for other districts, it might become a bigger issue. >> Uh they also changed the funding for that. So, now they're going to give you get a straight $10,000 per child. um they do have to be a resident of your district in order for us to

claim the funding for it. But instead of having different pools of money that we are allocated, it all comes from the same pool and it's a straight dollar or dollar value per child. And the last thing is they um had some changes to the state aid formula for counting uh homeless children and ELLL students. there's an increased value for those because we are held harmless by so much that it didn't change anything at all for us. >> So, unfortunately, it's a positive that they're looking at adjusting the formula, but they haven't adjusted it in the right ways for Marian to benefit from it. >> But it didn't hurt us. >> It didn't hurt us, and I will take that. You were right. >> Good news. Yes. >> Um, the only other thing is is they

did make some changes to tier six. So, tier six, you were able to retire at 62. Now you can retire in 50. So at some point in time that may benefit us but not currently. Any questions on the update for the budget stuff? Uh the last thing is the capital project update. Um given the scope that we are looking at for our capital project and the number of changes we're making to that area of the building, the architects determined that the construction of our building would require significant reinforcement to make sure the roof didn't collapse during the process and it would require a lot more money as opposed to if we just tear everything down to the concrete slab. So that is the plan that we're moving forward with is that we will actually tear

down the exterior walls in the roof to the concrete slab and build up. We are looking at doing it in different phases so we're not going to demolish all of those rooms at the same time and we'll be very cognizant of things going on like graduation to make sure that the auditorium is not impacted during that time. However, it will displace our band and music programs for two years. Um, right now the plan is is they would work out of the auditorium and then we might be able we'd have to find another room for lessons and things like that for some shared space that we can reutilize. The other thing that's going to be impacted and the scope of the impact is not completely known right now is the musical. I don't see a way

that we can take away the entire backstage area and not have some impact on the musical performances that we have. Whether that's we just do smaller musicals or we have to find other venues for our musicals or any other creative opportunities that we can come up with. >> And how long do we have to think about that? >> So the project doesn't isn't slated to start until a year from now. >> Okay. >> So um next year's musical will not be impacted at all and then it'll be the two after that will be the issue. >> Okay. >> Uh I know we have done musicals in the parking lot previously. My concern is is that the parking lot is going to be a construction zone with some heavy equipment and that poses significant liability in

my opinion that I don't think we want to continue down that path. It was mentioned using the elementary auditorium. The elementary auditorium is also part of this project. So that will be under construction as well. So we're going to have to think outside the box and how to fix this problem so that we can move forward. Sounds like an opportunity for creative problem solving. >> Yeah. And there's time. It's like there's time, you know. >> Yeah. So, >> yeah. >> And we did notify everyone so that they're everyone is on the same page moving forward. >> Okay. >> Without the build. Sorry. Trying to picture it without the rooms there. >> Yeah. We can maybe not the next meeting because we have so much in the next meeting but in the summer we can bring

the next set of plans when the architects give them and just you could take a peek so you can see like okay here's how they're thinking about the phasing of >> doing that demolition work and what would be impacted >> that I would think that means there's so many more options >> there are and one of the things we're looking at is changing the roof so that we don't have a flat roof like I I'm good with not making like a soup. I would be okay with that. >> So, and there is a schematic that I have that I can share if you would like to see it, but they showed us how much of the exterior wall we would actually leave alone and it is less than 10%. >> Wow. >> So, that's part

of the reason a total tear down makes the most sense. >> How far does like how close will it come to like the cafeteria every day? Uh it won't actually come into the cafeteria because the um >> the facilities shop is there. So that will be impacted, but the cafeteria itself won't. >> Uh the auditorium will be usable with the exception of a week or two while they're actually tearing the wall and ceiling away from the auditorium. We can't have kids in there. So that'll be strategically planned so it's not when school is in session. Uh, and then the only other it'll go right up to um the first art room down that hallway. We'll have to do some changes like there's a doorway in between and that will become a solid wall. I'm excited,

but I can wait. It's fine. Mrs. Mrs. Hing, before we go to the consent agenda, I um in the interest of trying to streamline the next board meeting, I had the administrators email me their reports. So, are you okay if I share? >> Absolutely. >> Admin reports. Okay. So, I'll just read through um what administrators had to share from Mrs. Miller, some of the things she has going on. Um she's deep into summer professional development planning. So um she puts a lot of time and energy making sure that the things we offer in the summer are aligned with what teachers are most interested in and the needs we have in each building. Um also linked to that she is planning on a PD for the elementary school during that last week in June. So students

are done on Monday and then we're slating out professional developments for that last week. So Nikki's working on that. Um we're also working through the changes to APR, so the teacher evaluation plan. So Nikki has been working on creating our new plan that we're hoping to submit to the state and implement next year. Um it's a 312E plan or a steps plan is the new fancy term from New York State. Uh finishing up observations and then her what she has listed as the most exciting thing she's doing is she's co-eing uh with Mrs. Keller House in middle level social studies. So Mrs. Miller is collaborating with her on a unit of about immigration and she's helping to teach it through a genealogy lens and >> it's really worth something that oh and it's >> right

up >> incredible what has like they've put together and what the kids are working on. So the next time she has a chance to report to you hopefully she'll like share specifically about that project with Mrs. Scholar House because the kids are doing some really cool research. Uh next up, Mr. Dean. Uh for the junior senior high spring showcase, art show, and academic awards were all a huge success. Uh the Marian FFA participated in state convention in Buffalo, and Emory Cirkin is the new president of District 8, so our big region. So that's very exciting. Um our musical Newsies was recognized at uh the Stars of Tomorrow gala. Uh Bailey Graham and Ashley E. Osborne represented Marian at Elevating Student Voices, which you know from last time. A big congratulations to our mod softball and

mod baseball teams for undefeated seasons. Uh a big congratulations to our Special Olympians who had great performances. Uh Gan Marian varsity softball had a great season and were co- champs of the league. Uh, varsity track. Congratulations to our sectional champions who are still competing. Uh, marching band has also been very impressive with their parade performances and they have Sherburn coming up. >> And then just some general upcoming dates. Uh, the spring end of year and end of year athletic awards are June 4th. Arts and music awards are uh June 10th. Senior scholarship night is June 11th. The last day of classes is June 16th, which seems crazy. Uh, final exams and regions exams run from June 17th to June 25th, and graduation is the 18th. Uh, from Mrs. Hair at the elementary, Marion Elementary students

have demonstrated the district's focus on accountability and ownership through their accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. The Marriott Band and Chorus recently represented the district at the Darian Lake Music in the Parks Festival, earning second place finishes in their divisions. The band received an outstanding score of 99 out of 100, while the chorus earned a score of 96.4 out of 100. In addition to their musical success, both groups were commended for their exemplary behavior and their professionalism throughout the trip. Uh we just had the egg day event last week at the elementary school. Um at that event, Marian Elementary's fifth and sixth grade students received numerous compliments from our community partners and visitors for their patient, respectful, and supportive interactions with our younger students. Their conduct reflected positively on both the school and

the district. So, our fifth and sixth grades paired up with UPK and K to go through the A Day experiences, which really was great to see. Uh, Marian Elementary also proudly participated in Special Olympics activities this week. Students created welcome back signs for athletes, while high school volunteers, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and the main the Maran Fire Department helped celebrate the participants through a communitywide bus parade. The event highlighted the district's commitment to inclusion, perseverance, and community support. As Marian Elementary transitioned into June's character trait focus of reflection, students are being provided opportunities to look back on their growth and celebrate celebrate their learning throughout the year. The month was kicked off by our first grade students who welcomed families into the building for portfolio shares. Students proudly showcased their work, reflected on their

progress, and shared highlights from their learning journey. Throughout the month, each grade level will engage in its own reflection experience, providing students with meaningful opportunities to celebrate growth and present their learning to staff and families. These experiences serve as excellent examples of students taking pride in their school, demonstrating strong character, and representing Marion with distinction. From Mrs. Fitz Simons. Uh, next week regent exams start at the high school with the English Regent exam on Tuesday morning. So, we have a couple of early exams this year. Um, Mrs. Fitz, Mrs. Guck, and Mrs. Luca hosted a spring play day for the newest eighth grade web leaders. Uh, there's nine new members, so that's exciting. They'll they're getting ready now to start to welcome in our incoming seventh graders in the end of the summer. uh they

participated in team bonding activities as well as were introduced to the web curriculum. And just a quick like data check-in as of May 31st, referrals are down 16% from last year and suspensions are down 35% from last year. From Mrs. Levy, uh annual reviews have continued throughout May. Almost all students have had their annual review uh as of May 28th. a few um that needed to be rescheduled are still happening. There are currently six students referred to the committee on special education. Five of these students were referred by parents and one by the school. And similar to as other people have shared, special Olympics in Newark was last Friday. Marian brought about 35 students to participate in the event along with student volunteers from our athletic teams and our ASL classes. And then finally, Mrs.

Steiner. Um, we have won a $10,000 family literacy grant from Dollar General. So, that is exciting. Um, funds will be used to support early literacy activities, birth to age 4, family literacy workshops and literacy nights, and access to GED classes for adults. So, we'll be doing some partnership with literacy volunteers in Wayne County. So, that's exciting. Same thing for those bugs right there. >> Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Um, get ready to grow screenings for UPK and kindergarten have been in progress and are wrapping up this week. Uh, Mrs. Steiner has been working collaboratively with a part our partners through Wayne County Community Schools to provide PD to staff um, piloting a SEO program for some of our students. uh the Wallace Foundation visited and conducted some focus groups gathering information for their pilot. So um we

have people from Marion who participated in the community groups as well as in the student groups. Um one goal an organization that helps improve postsecary planning sponsored a survey that our 9th through 12th graders participated in um and we did a data analysis around their responses. We had a team of Marian staff members who started that DNA analysis and we'll use that to inform things like maybe changing up how senior sound happens and what topics are covered. Um and then Aaron's law lessons have been taking place in both buildings. Uh these lessons teach about healthy relationships, digital safety, and sexual abuse and sexual trafficking prevention. That's one of our mandates through New York State. So that's everyone except Mr. W. >> And especially this time of year, I don't seem to have a whole lot,

which is when I don't have much to report, it's actually probably really good. Um, since the last in the last month, we've closed 52 help desk tickets. Um, right now we're kind of in the the planning stage for summer work. um tech department is is it's a hop in time for us in the summer when we get devices in and kind of reprocessing, updating, cleaning, getting ready for then distributing in here in the fall. Um we're not hosting summer school, which is exciting um because that always pushes us off a little bit, but um doing a starting a little bit of coordination with the hosting districts because they take our devices there and so we just need to make sure that those line up and and work correctly. So, it's it's different work for summer

school, but it that's something that's coming up as well. >> Next up, that would be our consent agenda items. Does anybody have any questions on that? I would highlight a few things for the board. Um starting off you will see the creation of a TOSA administrative interimm position that's on 10 and we have the lovely Mrs. Flint here tonight. So um she has been participating in the Wayne Fingerlakes Bosey's uh leadership institute program. So, she is at the point in that pathway where she's eligible for her administrative internship this coming year. And our administrative team is thrilled to have her join our team for next year and really bring her skill set to support our students in both buildings. Uh being able to do some work around discipline and restorative practices, but also really help

us get some of our changes to our special education programming off the ground. So, uh, we're starting some new self-contained classrooms in both buildings, and Mrs. Flint, we feel like, has the right skill set and the right personality to help get those classrooms up and going, um, linked to a safe, supportive administrator who has a great skill set to work with every student, but especially students in those classrooms. So, we're excited to have Mrs. Flint join us in that capacity next year. Additionally, you will see um that we're approving a dean of students the stifling position at Marian Elementary School and that will be filled next year by Mrs. Jenna Atkins um who has done a phenomenal job for us at the elementary school currently in second grade um but also is someone who's participating

in the Wayne Fingerlakes Bosey's Leadership Institute and this will be a chance for her to maybe like get her toes wet. um in a kind of hybrid position thinking about uh not just classroom teaching but having additional responsibilities outside of the classroom. So, we're very excited to have both of these ladies here tonight and take on these additional roles for us next year. >> You're doing a bangup job of keeping her quiet. Mine would tear her down the hall by now. Still would have been tearing down the hall by now. >> All right. Do we have any questions? After that, all I can think of is asking if we have a motion. >> I'll move it. >> All right. Thank you. All in favor? >> I opposed. Motion passes. Would you like to come run

the gauntlet and get your hand shake? >> Shake it. Shake it. Shake. >> Can we shake your hands, please? It's like the worst pain. >> What is your >> Congratulations. >> Well, so excited. >> Congratulations. >> You did awesome tonight. >> Congratulations. I'm excited for you. >> Hey, high five, girl. >> Congratulations. Look at those text. >> I'm going to guess no one signed up for a >> one other comment. Thank you to Marian for passing our budget. >> Yes. >> And our Yeah, thank you. Got throw that out there. You guys came through yet again for our students. Always amazing. >> Okay, so next up, could we please have someone move us to go to executive session for the specific purpose of discussing personal item and collective negotiations with the MTA? >> I'll move

it. >> Thank you. >> I'll second. >> Thank you. All in favor? >> I opposed. Motion passes. All right, we are not a journ but we are going into a second.
