foreign we're going to call the meeting to order that the records show that all the board members are in attendance please stand and join me for the pledge of the United States [Music] thank you changes to the agenda crazy any board members have any questions or comments on the agenda can I get a motion to approve the agenda in a second a favor motion passes did anyone sign up for comments on agenda items okay we'll move on to reports any employer numbers have anything to report on since we met a week ago yep was it the Arts and Music Award this past week so I did go to that that that was well done so I went to the FFA banquet and it was wonderful to see all of our kids recognized we went very

well okay the the competition at Darien Lake this weekend went well I understand that would be 12. that ranks any other board members have anything still sticking okay we'll move on to the superintendent reports there's a couple updates for the board and as an administrator [Music] collaborations with Wayne County in terms of early interventions so there's a shortage of early intervention providers so the people who provide services to students before they become eligible for school age Services which is a lot of our upka students so we have the ability to partner with the county get some of our staff members approved to provide early intervention services that typically come through the county then we basically the district gets reimbursed for those services so we're going to move forward with that to hopefully get some more

early intervention support for our students our student special ones but the board know that um second uh I've been invited to a state Ed training around diversity equity and inclusion so looking at the state's Frameworks and talking about how schools Implement those Dei Frameworks so that's something that'll be happening over this summer participating in and then in terms of events I would Echo the FFA banquet was this weekend and it was excellent to see the investment our students have in that program same with Cabaret night that was an awesome set of performances by show choir and our jazz band and then the elementary school students choir and band did go to Darien Lake and each earned first place in their respective category so that was awesome a great weekend for our programs here thanks okay

we will we're also okay we'll move on to finance and operations report so I just have a couple quick things Capital project update last week we met um for the first time in a couple months because we had a little lull there so work will Begin Again on June 26th and that'll commence through the summer and the hope is that 99 of it will be completed by the start of school so we're gonna be wrapping up that project early fall and we'll be submitting the final cost report by December 31st to get that wrapped up and we will also be receiving the Disney Bond allocation will be widered on the 15th so this week Thursday so that's where we are financially with that any questions regarding Capital project at all uh then the last item

I had is at the last meeting it was mentioned about the building tours about starting that up again especially now that the capital projects are winding down so I didn't know I thought we'd have a small discussion regarding how you want that to look make it prior to a board meeting or after or start in the fall do one building a meeting at this point I say we started the ball because School year's over so everything's gonna be cleaned in US yeah so in the past what we did was we do it wasn't every board meeting but we have we'd walk like through the elementary school one meeting um High School another meeting of that type of thing and it was to see what's going well in the school buildings what the what needs to

be looked at as far as future capital projects like when we did the high school we went out to the field and we looked at the track and talked through the track stuff that type of thing which is not an issue now because we did that the scoreboard was a part of that but I'd also like include the old school old bus garage in that as well for one of the meetings just because that's been a topic of conversation and I know I've never actually been in that building so which might be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view but I've never actually been in that building so if we're discussing what we do with it I'd kind of like to be able to see it as far as

when we do it last time I think we did it at the start of the meeting so with people in general be able to do like five to three you need to do that yeah I'm sorry you're not gonna be able to get through like here you know are you able to do five I would be okay so try to make whatever work I'd be okay with saying 5 30 with the intent of starting the board meeting at 6 30. yeah I'm good with that that's four meetings you can do both with bus graduates in one okay so three reviews first three doors so I guess first my question would be is when is the building condition survey have you even have you talked to them and scheduled yet yes we talked about it uh

we'll go with John Paul and we just have to coordinate so I think it would be important for us maybe to have that and walk through after that's complete okay so that we can if there's things that they indicate in the building conditions survey we can discuss them and you can kind of Point sure if it was in that way we're more informed as we discussed future plans so I think that's probably a there'd be a benefit to the board yeah our architecture engineer before that okay so in that case I'd say it's probably we don't even really have to do it until the spring because we're going to be starting a capital projects activity I know but if so if we did our if we planted the walkthroughs in the spring okay then we

then we know we'd have that right and that could we have the building condition survey in time and then we could do the Lockers in the spring and then we can go from there I know it's a little more challenging because we also have the budget the budget stuff and that type of stuff but it just seems like being better use of our time if we know we've got it so unless you get a confirmed the commitment that we're going to have it by end of September or something but and I'll keep you posted together so but that that the reason why I was thinking if you're just playing for spring like that does inform the meeting that the meetings that we're going to approve at our next beat on our next board meeting we

have to approve our board meetings right so hello pinpoint any pcsd okay anything else nope okay we will move on to the consent agenda items any board members have any questions or comments on the consent agenda items [Applause] there are no questions or comments can I get an emotion to approve them second all in favor all right post that motion passes the A1 sign up for Community comments overall okay we'll move on to tenure all right so tonight we are recognizing people who are earning tenure um we are going to start with our current 10-year appointment so I'm going to turn it over to Mr Dean to kick us out our first person who is receiving tenure is Amanda falling foreign certification and visual arts birth through 12. she also attended master of college for

graduate school earning her Master's in art education may have also spent a semester in undergraduate school at De Santa International School of Art in Florence Italy so Amanda came to us four years ago and was was calling Julie Zeller in a very strong art program and really took some time to kind of find her own and develop her own kind of take on how art is going to look at the Junior Senior High School I'm so impressed with how she's done that over the past four years she's really committed to building a program seven through twelve and really fruit cases as well and working with a person involved containing here at the elementary school she does a great job connecting with students and students love being in her classroom they love taking their courses she's

offered a bunch of different enrichments over the years since we've added that in the midday and she really looks for opportunities to find activities that will engage students and to kind of scope their creative fire she looks also for opportunities for students at risk to not graduate and we asked her two years ago to become trained in DDP and that was something a little bit outside of our comfort zone and maybe still not her favorite thing to do but she does a phenomenal job and because it's never complained once and continues to engage those students that that may be at risk of not graduating on time she does so with Grace and very very few behavioral issues even though some of those students often do have behavioral issues all in all she's just done a

phenomenal job for us and I'm thrilled to recommend her for tenure as our art teacher at the junior senior can I get a motion to approve okay I'll second all in favor um so come on down congratulations congratulations congratulations [Applause] our next two people receiving tenure tonight are Pam McClure and Jody Phelps and I know neither of them could make it tonight but Mrs Steiner will still share the reasons that they're earning tenure before she began teaching assistant study volunteered in Canada and professors for many minutes initially hires of one to one Aid and then completed her coursework on 97 weekends while she was working the full-time particular District which I think is a joke like her dedication and hard work but she's committed for our school district academic support to students by pushing to

study classrooms she will so many times she also needs a secondary room group and she is really a team player and is so high in the reality productive to me she is a part of the old school communication studies across the building anywhere she's needed and she always says so without complaints um he went you know last minute and she's being thrown into something that she's made invested over there again and she also helps us out with teaching College and Career to first graders and park today so she in general there's many different things throughout the building and which also helps with pray for that nice Fellowship Community she sews costumes for the musical and so and then yeah that's that's so prove it and then we have to approve her let's just approve her

first but congratulations so she also like pushes into classrooms and provides supporting classrooms she also pulls out small groups she can work so the group of sixth graders during their own time and she is the type of teaching assistant that um during the classroom and she just um intuitively seems to know what to do when she walks into you can see where she's needed and what on the show to give which is quite a scale children um she does amazing relationships with students and the staff members she is she helps with things like she's long-term stuff for us and we have been able to find certified candidate so she has um so in third grade also during covet she helped with art and she's helped out with College and Career she's High School she is

also also our community and I'm happy to try to move it take a second I'll second all in favor aye 's motion passes congratulations so the next part of our 10-year recognition is recognizing people who have earned a tenure earlier this year we have three people who that applies to one of them is here with us tonight so Shannon saysinski is here so I'll turn it over to Mr Dean just to give a quick recap about her tenure earlier this year sure so Shannon is a teacher assistant and in our middle level self-contained classroom or at least it has been for the past several years Shannon's also a certified math teacher so we're very fortunate to have her in the future assistant Global and we are aware of that good fortune every single day because

she really brings that skill of a teacher and the knowledge of the teachers of the classroom not only in math but in all kinds of areas often when you walk in the classroom it's difficult to discern who's the teacher and who's the teacher assistant that's how well Shannon works with with the teacher in the classroom but just also is a great recognition of how strong she is we're very very fortunate to be transitioning Shannon into a bit of a different role next year should be along with another teacher's system holding down what's new to us about the learning plan and so she'll be offering two or three academic support to students throughout the building and we're really excited that's a tribute to your string that's not that's not us putting her somewhere where you know

she's out of the way that's us saying we've got to utilize our strength so Shannon deserves 10 years after 10 years we're going to ask you to come down and Shake our hands again I'm gonna show you all right [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] staff members couldn't make it tonight but they were also tenured earlier in the year that's Debbie Schultz in the elementary building for reading and Carrie place in the elementary building who she currently teaches fourth grade so I'll let Mrs Steiner share a little bit about those two so this is really excelled in that position leadership there she has some foreign [Music] foreign [Applause] she's very much on a team player she's a she's either she she's well with her baby bottle s and it's always prepared for meetings very proactive and making

sure that her students needs are on that and as an active Communicator we've been preparing so as well uh [Applause] thank you so that is the end of the tenure piece we are going to move on to the years of service recognition gonna reorganize a little bit up here [Music] thank you I'll start okay so the first group you're going to recognize is for 10 years of service when we call your name if you're here please come down we've got a little okay so we have Ashley Chapin and Judy Neville [Applause] [Music] I don't think they're here 15 years of service Steve Van Hall Amber Shetland and Melissa Walker cannot hear about it before over 20 years of service we have Dan Campbell Sean Finnegan and Jerry Delisa we have Deanna Ferguson thank you congratulations

and move on to the retirement yeah all right we're going to take some time to recognize our District so the board has a resolution of appreciation which I'm going to read before we call people up so resolution of appreciation whereas Amy Bennett Warren bushart Donna Francis Sally Flynn Kimberly graffeo Thomas nortier Susan Roland and Kimberly vallone have served the students of Marion Central School District for over 178 combined years and whereas the Marion Central School District Board of Education respects the dedicated service of our Administration faculty and staff and whereas the above named individuals have indicated their intent to retire from service be it resolved that the Marion Central School District Board of Education and administration extend our thanks and appreciation for the 178 years of unselfish dedicated service to the students staff and community

and wish you an enjoyable and fulfilling retirement okay now we're going to ask you to come down in one moment that is actually a resolution so we have to pass it second all in favor now if your day was on that list I'd like to welcome you down here we have both something to give you so that [Applause] thank you foreign thank you congratulations [Music] [Applause] congratulations um [Music] foreign thank you congratulations [Music] thank you very much foreign like to take a minute to welcome our newly hired staff member um so Mr Dean and Mrs Steiner will give you a little overview but we're very excited um to have these people joining us this school year so we'll start off at the elementary level um with Cassie strange position or she definitely impressed Moscow and

um process and what really like solidify things for us was incredibly well executed demonstration process teacher okay our next two new hires could be here tonight but we'll still recognize them so Andrea habbecker is hired as our occupational therapist at that elementary school and Amy mulhern has been hired as a special education teacher in the elementary school so maybe Miss Steiner can just share a little bit about this working one day we cannot just prefer Millionaires and four days a week starting next year she already has announced to the districts obviously and has built some relationships with staff students and family so we're excited to like bring her on to continue the great work that she's already been doing today and then Amy Walter was hired as a special and she I think would describe

herself as a ray of sunshine and impress us with her positivity and has some experience working with students and we were New York City School District she also has some eyes with Mary congratulations we'll turn it over to Mr Dean who is going to share about our two High School new hires Mr Dean go ahead yeah so Chelsea nuts is with us tonight Chelsea is going to be our new 0.5 social studies 0.5 special education teacher sequel Chef C has a really unique background in that she served in the military and I'll I'll misrepresent that Chelsea so when you get to know her you'll have to ask me more about it but some really cool like intelligent stuff stuff you see on the movies so I can't wait to learn more about her background but

I also can't wait to see her bring that experience the life in our social studies and special education classrooms she did a fantastic job throughout the interview process a very strong demonstration lesson for us and we're really excited about what she brings to the Mary Trudeau senior high school so Chelsea nuts efficiency Ryan pastorette is also with us so Ryan also has a really cool unique background Brian studied originally and went into Pharmacy and I believe in potential stock market friends correct yeah so Ryan uh wasn't feeling the passion in Pharmacy decided he wanted to pursue a different career and fortunately for us that career was education so Ryan comes to us as our new living environment teacher but he's also certified to teach Council makes it even more valuable to us and we're really

excited like Chelsea to see how Ryan brings that background and wealth of experience the life in the classroom been a long-term substitute over at Victor High School this past year so he's got some background and experience in the classroom and we're thrilled to have enjoyment team right now here [Laughter] thank you so that concludes our meeting type can I get a motion to adjourn ing all in favor motion passes we'd like to ask all of you to join us down here for a little reception and thank you all for coming
