Our Saturday scope program began this past Saturday. We
003had over 100 students participating. Why wouldn't you drop your child off on a Saturday morning for four hours, right? You'd have to ask yourself that. So, I think the parents have the right idea. And all the children, they may a few of them came in crying. Miss Caparuso did a great job on the carpet with a few of them. So, thank you. Um, and they weren't crying for long, so that was great. Uh, we have our wellness retreat. We could all use a little wellness in our life. Tomorrow night at Old Mill Road for grades four through six. Looking forward to that. Our kindergarten registration, Mrs. Long, is up and running. A lot of questions coming in. That's online. We are entering into budget season, Mrs. Donnelly. That's so fun. Do we have any public comments on agenda items only? Okay, seeing none, we'll move right along to business. Can I please have a motion to approve uh items 6A and 6B for our business? >> Motion. The board recognized Calhoun Model UN who had sent a delegation to a conference in Switzerland. Uh there was also a presentation of the Belmore America business department. We were informed that the courses our district offers and given details about the skills the students acquire. and we saw a preview of a new AP business course scheduled for next year. The district currently offers 10 courses for college credit in the business field. The students presented their business models.
007It actually was pretty exciting. So they had the three different schools have the AP well will have the AP business courses and they actually create a product and they market it. So, the Calhoun students have a tint adjusting transition sunglasses which they presented and then we also heard from uh Kennedy and they have a uh a uh solar cooler that they marketed our selling pretty it was pretty amazing. I I couldn't believe it. Anyway, and we also had com uh public comment regarding school construction and uh specifically they were talking about the performance of select different uh few companies and that was it. Uh moving on to uh PTA >> PTA. Yeah, our PTAs continue to be awesome. I'll start with FET. The first annual script spelling bee for fourth through sixth grades was Friday.

SEPTA hosted STEM night uh last night and it was a great night from 5:30 to 6:30. Our Wings teacher, Miss Carfinker, will run a series of hands-on STEM activities guaranteed to challenge the brain. Uh we look forward to our auction at the Long Island Children's Museum on March 6th and lots of fundraisers including a um a pizza fundraiser um that went out. We I don't even think they've released the carpet yet to do that. Um but we'll be ready. >> We have time. >> What's that? >> We have
012time. Yeah, we do have time, but I don't want to, you know, I want to get the paperwork and the MOAS out of the way while the gr, you know, the ground's frozen so that when it is nice, we can hit the ground running and get it done. The gates going to be huge. Uh, just getting trucks in and out allows us to do that project during the school day and and keep separate from the from the kids. So, that's going to be a big win. >> Excellent. >> Thank you. Uh, Mrs. Long, did the board have any >> No, no communications were received. >> Thank you very much. All right. All right. And your address? >> Uh, 1450 Mater Avenue. >> Thank you. >> Um, my kids are students in this district. Uh, and they play in the playground and they play over in the back playground at Oldm Mill and they play in this stuff which is rubber mulch. Okay? Now, this rubber
014mulch doesn't just stay in the playground area. It's all over the ball field. It's all in the parking lot. It's all in our neighborhood, all down our street, even in our houses. I mean, it was a good idea, I guess, but it doesn't work. Something needs to be done about it. I mean, it's got to get out of here or, you know, the the school ground is becoming a waste dump. You know, we I saw you guys had uh you were recycling sneakers or something like that. You know, that's a great idea, but this is a bad idea and it needs to be taken care of. >> Okay.
