nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. Please make sure that your phones are either off or turn on silent. >> All right, it seems that Miss Jordan does not want to speak tonight since she's our only person. We're going to start with presentations. Mr. >> Yes, we have uh two presentations. Uh I'll call up Mr. Taylor first and we will Uh he will take us through the elementary MW Kyler school here. >> Good evening. Thank you so much. Um just want to uh talk through about another, you know, great year. We're we're not finished yet, of course. Um but we've had a lot of changes this year, some additional things and I just want to kind of go through them all. Um, you know, thinking about our strategic plan,

educational excellence, culture, communication, and student experience. Um, got a few pictures sprinkled in, of course, uh, you know, rep, you know, it's fantastic as we're going. Um, but our instructional vision is focused on the mission and vision of the district to create a safe supportive learning environment for all our students. and we're using our decisions back to this as we go through. So starting off with our educational excellence of our student achievement. So um last year we started our new curriculums in both math and ELA and so we are continuing that piece. A big piece that we focused on this year at our primary grades K2 was implementing the skills block. So the skills block is really another time for our kids to be in small groups. So they rotate these three times skills. Um

in our K2 classroom we have classroom teacher, our special education teacher and we use our reading department also to support. So they have a whole group piece and then they go into a small um skill session. So they give up 15 minutes and 13 minutes at each group as they um so we have noticed some really strong instruction alignment across the grade levels. I'm sure Mr. SM is probably going to refer to that as well because middle school it's engaging for our kids and it's gri learning experiences especially with our so many science and social science pieces are involved into it. So they're getting a lot of those great experiences. some of the challenges it definitely needs time it's difficult it's another thing for our teachers to look at small group individual groups again so

we have we offer a small group for AIS for both reading and math and this is another small group that they're planning for as they rotate through those three sections um we need the support for our reading department we kind of flood those grade levels during those times to get all that extra support and we still have to just trying to figure out all the different pieces. So again, we started E last year, but this was brand new for skills this year as we're piece. Really big thing for the building that's going to continue next year as well is having PE every single day. So when the kids here, they have gym every day. It's usually a pretty awesome thing. So it is a New York State regulation for grades K through three um that

they have daily PE and they have to have 12 Um, grades four through six, it's supposed to be 120 a week as well. Um, it works out for us in our schedule to have it every single day. So, all of our kids in grades K5 have PE every single day. Um, you know, in Jess that includes our AP. So, our AP students have it as well, which is a great thing. It's a great thing for our kids, you know, to have it. For the most part, that runs opposite of either AIS or for recess. So some of our grade levels will have like an hour. They have PE for about a half hour and recess for about a half hour. So right in the middle of the day they get an hour break, you know,

from the things. So they are running to watch the third graders pass, especially now we have nicer weather out in the grass. They will be running from the gym door by the fifth grade wing from the end two classes will switch and running back and forth. So, it's pretty awesome to see and giving that chance for it. Um, we are continuing with our MTSS. It's been, you know, our tier one is really the all instruction for all kids and the tier 2 pieces are the small groups for K5. So, again, for our K2 students, we actually go to small groups multiple times. Well, we go to small groups multiple times for all grade level, but for K2, it's for the skills, the ELA, and the math. that Mrs. Smith has been our tier 2 coach

this year. He's been great at implementing those pieces and I'll talk a little more about that as well. Um, so another piece of the student achievement is the kind of grade level team time. So we have regular meetings, we have weekly tier 2 meetings, Mrs. Smith runs this year. Uh, we want to make sure we have a lot of teacher involvement. So Molly is so organized. She will send the teachers. We will be discussing your about 8 and so the teacher shows up around 8:18 and we come in and we get the data on that kid as we're trying to figure out exactly what we'll do to help them be successful. We also have our tier one meetings and then we you know really you know we're always progress monitoring about every six weeks for

those small groups of communication we've continued our monthly RAMs our star reading recognition uh at the upper grades for four and five because we're departmentalized we to adjust our reader. We do a science or social studies star and math star each month as well for those. Um the cafeteria has been giving them. One of the things we're looking at is having the bus drivers uh throw out an award as well. Last month our cafeteria monitors, two of them came and participated in the uh assembly for us. When we get to the cafeteria awards, the kids are going nuts. They're stomping on the floor. Mr. Briggs, but they're the floor super excited about that. And we have one more assembly coming up in a couple of weeks. Of course you know about invented minds was still

very successful first to third at Hannibal this year. Um we have before school UPK bridge the average after school girls on the run. Uh we have the readers in you know evening the family literacy nights. We've got some more book rev like I said our field trips. We got lots of field trips coming up. Uh fourth grade starts next week and we got them going through the month of um you know the end of the month of May and then through June. Uh that's Mr. Stan Tucker who came out to our kids again. He handed the kids cash as when they were throwing this these balls if they could do it if they they could make it. He literally hands them a $20 bill. They roll the ball across. The kids are going nuts in

the gym. When he was presenting he uh lost his wallet because he t He went down to the auditorium to do small grade level presentations after the big assembly. So one of the kids came in and said I think this is your wallet and he you know me he's a great author great person opens up his wallet and he's like you didn't take my money what I grew up in Atlanta like anybody they would take your money. So he took the money out of his wallet and he handed it to our kids. He he didn't have much left, but he had like $10 left. And he gave the $5 to each of the two kids that helped him with it. He's like, "Because this wouldn't happen other places. They would have taken all the money

and I'm giving you the money." So, it was kind of neat. It was really cool thing. It was great, you know. He's just a great person. We had him last year and overwhelmingly all the teachers wanted him back. So, it was great. Um, of course, you know, the hovercraft would go, the concerts, historical society, American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, saw some of those. We did one school which is super fun this year. Um our family's literacy and family math nights. Mrs. Smith also led us in the family math nights that we're going like I said the daily PE our skills for success class. We implemented a skills for success class which helped us to bring in Aeron's law which we need to instruct all of our kids in Aeron's law every year and plus our second

step curriculum. So it wasn't on the teachers to do that. We pulled it so we uh they didn't have to implement it in their classroom. They save their classroom time for the piece of Um, so really those are our big area focus. Uh, and we're continue to go. So I just want to thank you for your time. This is like the coolest picture. So excited. Ramy's there. Can you please Mr. Taylor? Have you heard any feedback from the teachers with the PE built in on the daily that kind of improve things at all in the classroom or >> That's a great question for that way. Um I it's been overwhelmingly positive. Um they really you know the kids really appreciate that um have the piece. Uh I think when we get back to swimming we

were going to readjust our um our plan uh because you know 25 minutes just isn't enough time. So Dave and Jess and I are working on that schedule piece for it but overwhelmingly positive And >> what Mr. Teller wouldn't tell you about uh the PE regulations are we're probably one of very few schools that that hit those regulations. >> Saying that I'm literally like >> yeah they they worked really hard to kind of get that in. It's kind of uh and I think it's it's been well received. So, uh shifting gears, we're going to move from elementary school. We're going to graduate up uh to to middle school at this point. And there we go. Now, here is Mr. Smiley with the middle school. >> All right. Thanks everybody for giving me some time to

present the middle school uh the state of the middle school for the 25 26th year. Uh Mr. Taylor stole a little thunder thunder with our instructional vision. I'm not going to read through the the mission and vision, but we did stay true to it this year as far as um both pieces of that. The strategic plan connection, you guys did also see um our board updates, all the stuff that we touch on throughout the year, culture, communication, educational excellence, and school experience. And as I go through my slideshow, you'll see where I touch base with all of these culture and climate. and then high expectations, clear consistent communication. Um, one of the things that we do in the middle school is I have weekly updates that go out on Friday. In addition to that, I

meet with all the grade level teams um, once a week. And what's nice about the weekly updates is that when I collaborate with sixth grade and then seventh and eighth grade, whether we're going over schedules, testing schedules, or implementing new ideas, I'm able to roll that out all in one piece so that the whole building's on the same page. I can meet grade level and then roll it into that weekly update. The weekly update has upcoming events, reminders, schedules for testing and so on. It's a really good piece. In addition to that, it's a parent square notifications. Um I use them to give um information on upcoming events. Teachers give not only students that are struggling but also positive parent squares weekly as well, which I think is extremely important. And then we also have

Boseis um throwing out districtwide communication through parent square which they've done a great job um with the code of conduct tier 2 interventions tier 2 we meet every Thursday and what's nice about meeting every Thursday is we're allow we're able to go through some of the data whether it's behavioral whether it's attendance um whether it's the piece or whether it's grades we're able to put in intervention pieces for students whether it's check in check or it's lunch groups or if we have to um inbed counseling as well. It's a good piece for those students to get what they need. Um and with that being said, the main goal is to also not only help the students but decrease referrals, student ownership, student council does a great job, you know, as far as the student participation,

giving them a voice in the building, but it also um you know increases the participation with the students but also the within the building. National Junior Honor Society. This is my third year here. I want to say the first year that I was here, we had four or five inductions. This year, we're at 12 to 14. So, the culture, the direction of the building is definitely changing in this area, which is very, very, very nice to see. And Mrs. Malty does an amazing job with them as well. educational excellence and student achievement data driven practices. So with the and or I'm sorry with ELA and math like Mr. Taylor said, you know, we rolled out that new curriculum last year. Um the teachers have done a great job getting their hands on the modules and

working through them. But also when it comes to the data piece of it, we do benchmark screeners every every uh marking period. But in addition to that, we take that data, we take New York testing data and we wrap it up into data review that we meet with um grade levels um throughout the year and we come up with strategies, you know, where are the holes, where the what can we do to improve it? Um and it's a good way to, you know, review where where our strengths are, but also where our weakness is and what we can do to improve instruction. Um some of the interventions that we have this year um I don't have all of them up here but I do you know as far as the afterchool programming we have seen

a dramatic shift with the amount of students that stay after for not only 10th period but the 445 um year one when the bell rang at 2:20 everyone's out of the building. Year two we had a boot camp at the beginning of the year to try to show the importance of what 10th period can offer and then this year it's really taken off. Um today for an example I was sitting up at the foyer during the first dismissal which is the buses I counted 23 kids leaving. So out of the 160 kids that we have in the building the middle school 23 kids are leaving at 220. That says something about what the direction the school has been going or the building's been going in. Um the after school program we have a 10th period

rotation. The academic success program we embedded last year. This year it's really flourished as far as how can we accommodate kids that academically need more support. Um we have about four we have six teachers that are involved in it. Now it runs Monday through Thursday and we have one special ed teacher as well. I meet with every kid that's ineligible individually. We come up with strategies but we also put them on that 445 list. Any kid that's failing two or more classes, they're going twice a week to that 445 program. I'm also communicating that with phone calls home with the parents. Um the grouping is about five kids per per teacher which gives them that one-on-one support. Um and in addition to anyone that else that's not on that ineligibility list, they also can get

that support for that 445. It's been a great program. Um, and it's really, like I said before, it's really shown a lot of success this year, especially um, with the groups, whether they're lunch groups, whether they're after school groups. Um, getting the getting the kids that need that extra support. Um, it's also provided as far as the the uh the interventions are concerned. Uh, some of the structures and systems that we have put in place, we obviously have the coaching. Um, they meet with our teachers weekly. It's a great opportunity for them to um you know come up with some different strategies to run things by each other to give that professional one-on-one advice. Crew curriculum we rolled out this year. So this is a um curriculum that we embedded into the sixth grade um

grade level this year. Crew meaning everyone's on the same crew. We're all on the same team. It shows a lot of camaraderie. It allows the kids to show um you know basically the stuff that with the Rams that we we embed with. showing respect, showing accountability, um having respect for yourself but also each other. Every 10 weeks we have a little awards ceremony um in the in the Kyler gym. What's really nice to see about the see this is it's all student driven. The kids create the awards, the creat present the awards um and the kids nominate each other. Some of the achievements I went three years back because that's when I started. I just figured that that would be a good place to start. If you look at uh first, second, and third quarter

and just basically focus on the the percentages at the end of principal's list, honor roll, and high on a roll. Um the amount of students we were at about 30 to 40% of the kids that were on one of those lists. Last year we were at about 40 to 50%. This year we're following suit with about the same, a little higher in some areas, but still having that same expectation of the students striving harder to work hard to get um to be successful academically. Discipline data, another positive. Um three years ago it was at 528 and now we're we're still going in the right direction. So things are moving. Um that picture is the eighth graders getting a receiving a check from the Lions Club from one of their fundraisers. It was a chicken barbecue.

Um they will be going to Gettysburg. We will be going to Gettysburg and Hershey Park in a couple weeks and that was a great fundraiser that Miss Milk had helped um put on and they did a great job with it and I think they've done two this year which has been phenomenal. some of the school experiences. We brought back some of the old and we implemented some of the new and we also implemented some of the student driven ideas for some of the uh after school programming as well. Um Battle of the Books probably has been around for years before I got here. We brought it back to the middle school this year. Um I can honestly say I can't wait until next year when we sat in the auditorium. I had all of the

middle school students there when these guys were competing and you could hear a pin drop and then when they won the clapping, the cheering, the camaraderie that it was just it was really nice to see it be successful, but I'm like I said before, I'm extremely excited to see the more participation next year that we get with this. Another one that was new this year, Mr. Banado and Mrs. Johnson did a great job with our middle schoolers. I know that they presented a couple weeks ago. This is just a quick snippet. We had eight participants. Um, three of the three groups out of the eight actually meddled and one took first place. I think Mr. Johnson was here with um what he got first place with when he was there. So um this was a

great experience for him. Uh when I went out to visit it was at CNS uh middle school, which is a school probably the size of this whole district. So when they walked in, they got to see it. It was just um it was exciting to see them compete, but it was also exciting to see them experience something new that they're going to be able to carry forward um into the high school. One book, one school. This was a district-wide initiative and this is something that um if you asked me at the beginning if it was going to be as successful as it was um I was a little skeptical because of just the whole process. Let me elaborate a little bit. So if you look at the top bullet there with the one book one

school when we rolled this book out if you guys have not read the giver I highly suggest you read it. Um we brought the whole building into the auditorium. We had that up on the screen in the back. Mrs. Gelati did a phenomenal job with interviewing students on questions that were part of the chapters like what if you could only see black and white? What if you couldn't choose your job? And we showed that to the students just as the introduction to this book. And then we read chapter one. The whole building was in this auditorium. Everybody had their own book. And I tell you, you could hear the pages turn because everybody was following along. It was great. And then we followed that up with every period for the next couple weeks. Every period

was responsible for a chapter. So the following day, period two, read chapter 2, three, four. You see how it goes. Um, with that being said, I want you to look at the picture on the left hand side. Those are basically sticky note size squares that kids colored on to create that. And this is Gelati put it all together. It's on a piece of plywood that we're going to hang in the middle school um wall. just a sign, you know, just to be show how significant that book was, but also just the camaraderie and the participation in the buying that we had with the students. Once you got to a certain chapter in the book, it was when he started to see color, we rolled out Winterfest. So on the bottom there, you see the tie-dye

shirt, you see the plain shirt. We started out with the black and white, which was what everyone could see in the book at the beginning. And then during Winterfest, which is this was a huge undertaking, um Mrs. Mrs. Zelotti was able to have every student tie-dye their own shirt. So 160 kids tie-dyed their shirt during that. Um in addition to that, they also did other stuff like on the left hand or the right hand side there, they all planted their own marolds and then Mr. Wana kept them under light. They were able to um bring them home to their parents and plant them. Echo Theater, Red Theater came in. Um, they come in in the fall. They work with all the ELA groups and they write short stories. All of these short stories are submitted

in. Um, all the districts around the area that these that they do business with, they go through them and they create skits. Um, Ruby was the winner that they actually performed one of their skits. I call the parents ahead of time. I tell them not to they're a student that they're going to get this award. They come in, they surprise their kids, they bring their family with them. The whole building, the whole middle school comes into the event and all the kids on the lefth hand side were all the honorable mentions. So, the participation was great. Uh these young professionals that are up there performing the kids do a great job, but it's also really really nice to see um our stu our school represented, but also um our students represented as well. It was

just another great event that we had for the school experience. And last but not least, this was student initiated. Um, this is our fishing club and you see the kids that are in boats. I think this was probably the first time that they were out the mated voyage of it. Um, the participation was incredible. Um, this students came to me two years ago with this idea. Last year I was able to get it going and get in the movement. between the parent participation, between the fundraising, between some of the grants, we have four of these boats. Those boats are actually on canoe carrier style um carts so they can push them across the street into the pond. All the boats, all the fishing poles, all the brand new vests, everything is brand staking new. Um

they're able to utilize that pond, but also get out into the outdoors. And that was all based on students coming to me wanting to have that Any questions? >> No fishing. Nobody wants to jump in boat today. >> Thank you. >> Wonderful. So, uh, monthly MVP awards, we have, uh, 41 names. It pops up there. There we go. 41 names on the list this year, uh, this month rather. Um, read a couple. Kathy Armstrong, middle school counselor. Kathy goes above and beyond to help students with their day-to-day routines. She is always behind the scenes in the know of what's going on. My son is very comfortable going to her for any issue school or personal related. Her office is a safe space for kids. U somebody from our elementary school, Jenna Edgar. Uh her love

and compassion for the children is amazing. She cares deeply for all of those around her. I could never thank her enough for the love she shows my grandson. Uh and uh our head bus driver, April Senko. April goes above and beyond for all the staff and students. She works hard and is always and is always at work ready to go. She is a wonderful person all around. So couple uplifting messages there for for some of our staff. So >> that's great. Thank you. Okay, let's move on to um the minutes from uh the regular meeting to approve both the minutes and the financial reports C and D in its entirety. >> I will second that motion that we're moving. >> Any questions, corrections? All in favor? >> Any opposed? Any obstensions? Okay, moving on. Could

I have a motion for the entire consent agenda? Mrs. Kaiser and a second, Mrs. Decker. Questions? It's a little light this month. Thank you, Mr. Nobody's going to hear any complaints. >> Okay, when you're ready. >> Mrs. Kaiser, >> yes. >> Mrs. FS, >> Mrs. statement. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Decker. >> Yes. >> And Mrs. Madigan. >> Yes. Thank you. >> Okay. F. New business. >> F. F. I'm gonna make >> Could I have a second, please? >> Mrs. Folds. I appreciate you looking though. >> You never know. >> Any questions on this? I'll just make a statement that we're holding the tuition is the same as last year for international students. The hope is that there will be more disabilities for international kids next year. Um but there just wasn't uh wasn't a very

big pool unfortunately for the 25 26 school year. So questions >> Mrs. Decker. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dman. >> Yes. Mrs. Kaiser, >> yes. >> Mrs. FS, >> yes. >> And Mrs. Madigan, >> yes. Thank you. Okay, we'll move on to G. Questions on the administrative reports. Or if anyone feels like making Aiden feel comfortable. Aiden, I think yours was great. It was my favorite one. Everyone, >> it was so great. If you'd like to attend through the summer, you're more than welcome to do that. Just don't say anything. It's fine. Okay. Seeing that there's no questions, we'll move on to the superintendent's correspondence. >> Uh certainly. Uh first thing I'd like to bring up uh kind of on the heels of Aiden there is uh as as the board's aware, we have been working

through our student process selection process for our exeicio student um board reps for next school year. as Aiden's term here with us expires uh next month. And um you know, working with Mr. Gaffne and with with student council, I think we came up with a really innovative and and um inspiring plan to involve three students next year. Um and one of those students is here this evening in the back. Uh so Jacob Mercer is is in the back back there. He's one of the three rising seniors that'll be our exeicio student members for next year. Uh joining Jacob will be Ella Polalmo and Hawk Hullbrook. So, uh the plan would be for those three uh two of them would come each night, but having three with busy schedules as seniors and family activities and life,

this hopefully will allow some flexibility for for those folks. Um, and I I think one of the things that came out of the the committee that Mr. Gaffne uh with the staff and Aiden used was they all each of the three of them represent different perspectives and student experiences. So, it really should be able to kind of provide the board and all of us with with a more well-rounded insight because we're getting some different perspectives. So, you know, for year one getting one person and I know we had kind of gone back and forth about trying to get a second person on and how do we do that and what did it look like. So, to kind of see it evolve and grow from one to having um really three strong representatives for next year.

We're excited uh to bring that to you. >> Congratulations, Jacob. Will each student have um a monthly board report whether you know? >> Yeah, good question. I think we'll kind of work through the details on that. Maybe one report in each of them can can include some piece of it. So, >> great. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. uh our attendance and absences. I think uh you folks might have noticed that our absence rate kind of dropped down in April a little bit percentage- wise. Uh we dropped down below 91%. We got uh hit pretty good with with some illnesses. Um kind of tis the season which dropped our daily attendance rates down a little bit. We're on the rebound with some of that for the most part. um holding steady uh on on our attendance.

We're we're down 18 for the year at this point. Last year we were down 27. So we're say net net nine compared to last year. Uh but I would forecast you to say that um our incoming UPK class right now the amount of students that we have en registered enrolled is is uh small as well. So it's not a requirement. They don't have to come to our UPK program. So just that number alone is not completely indicative of of where all the students are, but it's something we're paying attention to at this point. >> Is it less than we have last year? >> It is. >> Okay. >> It's interesting to see the seniors who are increasing their attendance rate. They just can't get enough of it. They just want to be here. >> Yes.

There's always some good lovers this time of the year. Um, you know, that it's a busy time for our seniors, so they they want to soak in every last moment. >> They do. Um, >> maybe some of them have used up all their absences already. >> Yes. Um, uh, as I had mentioned in my transmitts, um, I'm sharing with you a draft, preliminary draft of the code of conduct. Um similar uh process to last year. We took some feedback. Ran some changes through our legal department. Made some I I last year we made quite a few changes to the overall. This year was more I'll say uh general updates um on some things things that that we might have noticed throughout the course of the year were were missing. I would point to um uh

what was the page number? Uh page 24 in our MTSS. just draw your attention to um we have incorporated a little more explicit information about some of our MTSS supports and strategies along with uh and there'll be some different formatting that you'll see come forward, but halfway down on that page, you'll see some information about some restorative practices. you know, our our code of conduct has alluded to uh restorative practices and and we really wanted to make sure that we kind of listed what some of those may include. Not certainly not a comprehensive listing, but when we talk restorative practices, what does it look like to a, you know, to somebody um to try to reduce some of the the questions that might come with that. So, we're trying to enhance some of those things

and then explicitly put them out there for folks. So, um this >> question about that. Is this the same language that would come potentially from a principal to a student's family? >> It's like does this >> in what in what >> if you were in in any of these tiers? Is this this how we deliver the information? So, it would match so people could understand if they were >> Yeah, the the tier language is is pretty synonymous. We use that. We have, you know, tier one teams. We have tier two teams. We deliver supports at tier one, tier two level. >> So, this is how we explain it to parents. Yes. About their specific student. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Thank you. >> Um, and then the safety plan follows that. Uh, the big change

here is I just tried uh to make it a little more generic. We took specific names out and just left titles in. It's something that I think through some of our policy work in the last couple of years has been something we've tried to do because there's always a name you miss somewhere in a in a chart or a document somewhere. So the titles are important, those roles are important, but the names are interchangeable for lack of a better description. Um, so both of those documents, the code of conduct and the safety plan, this will start our public um public comment section uh session. So we have a 30-day window for public comment on those. So these will be posted publicly. Uh we will have a excuse me a hearing prior to our next board

meeting for both of those and then uh these will both be brought to the board in July at our next meeting after the 30-day hearing uh comment period concludes for approval. I always like to include uh this time of the year a um an update on our budget vote from last night and member board member election. So um as we had shared our community again overwhelming support for for the work that this school does by supporting our budget this year 312 yes 95 nos 47 total votes uh 77% passing rate uh for this year and um proposition for our bus purchases uh vehicles these are gas fuelpowered vehicles. Uh I feel like it's always important to remind folks that that's the types of vehicles that we're purchasing right now. Uh we had an 81% approval

rate on that. So um think that was overwhelmingly positive as well and congratulations to Mrs. Folultz and Mr. Polarmo on um being elected to seats for us for next year. Um I did some comparisons on previous votes in terms of passing rates and number of of voters. Um so we were we were just over 400 47 I believe. Um that's that's pretty consistent. In 2000 we had 880 voters. Uh which really is an anomaly here when going back through um >> I don't know. Um more students too. >> Yeah. So, uh but most years, you know, right around 80 plus percent passing rate, which um you know, I think this year, if you look at the region, most schools had a little lower percent passing rate than than we've had previously. >> I think that's

kind of indicative of where we are society right now wise. Um and this of course is only one area that the community gets an opportunity to voice um and have a say. So, you know, they're turning out in good numbers. I think it's a representative response. Our voting numbers uh exceeded districts that are bigger than ours, which I think is is a good um sign that that we have active uh people in our community to vote. So, and we're keeping our percents up. So, >> how did electronic voting go? >> Yeah, first year of electronic voting, I think, uh overall it was was received pretty well. All folks seem to have gotten the message. They came with IDs ready. Uh there was not uh I was up there in and out throughout the course of

the day. Amanda did a huge bulk of the the work on that. I didn't see long lines of folks trying to get registered in. Um you know, we we'll do a couple little tweaks next year. We need to order more stickers. We ran out of stickers. I love uh the I voted stickers, so we got to make sure we replenish our stock of I voted stickers. Um, but uh, you know, maybe we need a magnifying glass for folks to see the the the names on licenses. They're the font on those suckers is pretty small. So, um, you know, those kind of things. Live and learn on those. But, uh, I know at the end of the night it really sped up the the review process. Um we >> you need to like really stress that

>> we were done in about 15 minutes compared to about two hours. >> Yeah. >> Uh you know there's there's notifications that go out around all the different school districts. And this year in our region we were like the first one to respond >> uh with our results. I was still receiving results updates like after 11:30 p.m. last night and we had reported by say 8:30. Yeah. >> Um as a as a general. So overall, I think positive um experience. That's what I witnessed. >> Is there um anything like at school like I don't know if in home rooms or whatever where um students are aware that if they're 18, they're able to vote. >> Yeah, I think that's a uh an area of growth for us for certain. Um our board policy that that

requires us to to be active with that. There was just a couple kids that I talked to yesterday. They're like, "Well, I'm not registered to vote, so I can't." And I had to. >> And we did have a number of folks that when they came up yesterday were not in the system, and we had paperwork in there for them to vote. One of the other things that that Amanda and I had looked at last night was >> um the the electronic voting gives some demographic um information about the voting. Uh and we only had at that time we only had like eight to 10 people under the age of 20 that have voted. So out of 400 8 is you know I'd say an area for growth >> be interesting to watch that over the

years how that changes. >> I forgot that that could work. >> No we reminded you yesterday >> because I've grown up on here so I was like you kind of just walk through the doors anyways. You don't realize that you >> just you know Aiden's on the spot yesterday >> on live TV. >> Yeah. I did get to witness a few first time voters and they were very proud and you know so you know just that ability to participate in civicness I think is is important. So certainly an area that you know and now with this system we can kind of track >> that volume of that which I think will be >> something to look at. >> Um Mr. Vanderman with the buses I think the big question was are they going to be

diesel still? >> I know you shared the other day but what year did it just get extended out to? >> So uh great question. So the the legislation right now says 2030 and it's just got moved back five years uh in the upcoming governor's budget that's going to be coming out. >> So 2040 >> 2040. >> Okay. >> Yes. So um that'll give us five more years at this point >> without any extensions. Just >> correct. >> Cool. >> Yep. >> Thank you. Uh lastly, uh some some pictures. I was been trying to uh not lastly, I guess, as I see there's more things in there, but uh some some photos. Obviously, anybody that's come on to our campus, it's very clear now that we're under construction project because of our um asphalt work in

the main lot and the student parking area. So, uh they did a great job. They told me they were going to have it done prior to the budget vote and they had it done prior to the budget vote. Uh it looks good. It's only a binder layer now. We still have a top coat that of asphalt that needs to go on that. So that's temporary paint uh on the on the parking lines, but with construction still ongoing, it's not um it's not the right time to put the finished coat on there. Um but they look great. Uh, speaking of looking great, some um sidewalk lighting in some different areas of the school. I call them the Charles Dickens lights. Um, and they're just I think they're really just kind of sharp. Um, and I think

they're going to illuminate. We're we're getting a lot more lights. Our parking lots are going to be a lot brighter. Uh, which I think is an an area of improvement for for so many places in our spaces. So, looking forward to what those will look like. Uh, some pool progress. You kind of see the ceiling there with these uh red ventilation system keeping our colors in line. Some of the work is ongoing. We're we're plugging away as fast as we can. The ceilings have shipped. We're going to get ready to install those uh fairly soon. And then uh exciting uh work in the elementary classrooms with those floors. These classrooms weren't even scheduled to be started demo until July and now they already have floors back in them. Um, which is a great thing. So,

um, not ready to be moved back into, but like we're we're certainly heading in the right direction. Um, questions on the project. Great. Uh the last thing was I wanted to uh share a proposed draft board of ed meeting schedule for 2627 with you folks. Uh we've kind of tweaked this over the years as I get a better understanding of what's going on and uh some of the things. So um tweaked some things to make sure we're in alignment with uh a lot of the deadlines, legal compliance deadlines for our budget hearings, budget dates. Uh our audit information is in there. Um I've included a a budget workshop which is something over the course of the last few years we've had we haven't had just kind of depending on where we are. So that's an

optional thing. Um I added an additional board meeting at the end of August expressly for the purposes of late hires if it's necessary. Um sometimes there's there's a need for kind of a last minute hire. Um put something like that in there. I know we had to make some adjustments this year with the Bosey's budget shifting a board meeting around. So, um, Boseies said that theirs is always the fourth Wednesday of the month of April. So, I've included in uh like a special morning meeting just for the purposes of of doing that. So, just trying to kind of tweak it based on uh my understanding of of some of those things and to try to be as as useful of uh cognizant of everybody's time. So, this is a draft. Uh >> take a look

at it for feedback. >> Yep. >> Um we're obviously all not here tonight either, so we'll make sure that everybody has a chance to glance at it before we if you have any conflicts. Is there any thought about moving our board times next year? >> I was literally just going to ask that, but I feel like that'll be a conversation maybe on the >> So, that's been brought up to me before as well. So, I think that we can we can have that discussion to see if it would work to move up. I'm zooming up, not later. >> Okay. So, take a look at it. Consider if you would like to do an earlier time, too. Um, and we can uh we can discuss uh when we're all here, but thank you for putting this

together. >> Yep. You're welcome. >> Um, this is actually probably something if you wanted to speak to as far as the >> Yeah, absolutely. Uh as as everybody knows, Wayne Fig Boseies has been going through some transition. Uh they have hired Lily Telkit, who is the uh DS at uh TST Boseies, excuse me, down in Tomkins County area to lead the search gosh, excuse me, uh for the next district superintendent for Wayne Fingerlakes Boseies. Last Friday, she provided us a template timeline which shows an October estimated start date for this person as October 1. Um so hoping as they go through this process um superintendent in the region will have an opportunity to be involved. Uh there's 25 of us. I don't know how many will be involved with that. Obviously, folks had an opportunity

to to provide some feedback uh with with that survey responses. So, Mrs. Telkit is not um a candidate for this position. She'll be leading she'll be leading the charge. Dr. Huber is also not a candidate. She's our interimm. She is the DS at Monroe 2 Boseies. Uh so, they both already have jobs at other Boseies regions. So, um I don't know where it stands. I know there's been a lot of transition. We kind of get updates quite frequently from Boseies on the hirings and the shifts uh as as we've gone through a lot of different changes this year at the Boseies level. But, uh I can I can say I'm very pleased with the transparency, communication, and the plan moving forward that Dr. Huber and her team have put together for us. So, >> great.

forward to updates. Any other questions? Okay, then I will take a mo motion to move into executive session for a particular personnel matter. Mrs. Kaiser, make that motion. Thank you. I have a second, please. Mrs. Dingman, thank you very much. things.
