have a couple of comments made did you we don't force them we don't have the form now if you want to give us the point we made a few policy and I can't ever get it straight sorry Mr absolutely you got three minutes to speak we ask that you not use any personal names or anything that would identify someone sure okay okay my name is Tara stilik and I'm a parent with two young kids around our Valley School District after watching the last Board of Education meeting I'm here to provide all the comments to the Lord it comes from the last meeting were nothing but a smoke screen from the phobia and transphobia I would like to remind this board of the New York State's dignity for all students act which quote speaks to provide
States Public elementary and secondary school students with safe and supportive environment free from discrimination intimidation chaunting harassment and bullying school property a school bus and our school function and as well the original Act was a method of 2013 to provide credit guidance code regarding construction disability citizenship and character education by expanding the concept of Tolerance respect for others and dignity to include an awareness of sensitivity relations with people including but not limited to different races weights National Origins ethnic groups religions religious practices mental physical abilities sexual abilities orientations gender identities about well I'm not here to Advocate any sort of indoctrination there is a course to remember the rule that the role of schools is to educate our children that means introducing them to new worlds new people and new ideas this has nothing to
do with the vaccination it has everything to do with Civics and teaching the Next Generation how to respect people's differences at the end of the day to be a good neighbor I'm Grateful Dead to the Dignity of that through the dignity act New York state has enshrined the idea that every student should feel safe and significant I understand the need to have a healthy discussion around the timing of gender identity topics however the county provided with the last and you were ignorant and after that to it I live in the same sex household two adopted daughters around our valleys are calm we love that our neighbors have been so open and accepting over the years I hope those who spoke at the last meeting are not trying to tear the fabric of Tolerance honestly I
would also like to remind the speakers of the last thing that the lgbtq community isn't a membership of the organization we did not carry Bejeweled membership numbers however we are an economic force that has been fighting for our rights for almost a century I want to thank these individuals for reminding us that our fight isn't over I can assure you and them that our presence will be known at these meetings than any other local meetings other languages used undermine our rights to simply refuse to go back in time [Applause] any other comment yes foreign okay my name is Sheena my pronouns are machine and hers and I'm the parent of a student at Roanoke over the last two board meetings you've heard a lot of people who do not support the teacher I work for
just a piece of viewing I want to even the scales a bit and remind the board that many of our communities districts focus on diversity activity and inclusion to be essential the ignorant and hateful language those are used in the costume suction system Apollo if I run an lgbtq current or Community member I would not find this boardroom to be the same place it meant to be I cannot imagine how lgbtq students and staff membership members and still improving the diversity equity and inclusion of this district is about nurturing empathy and understanding as well as strengthening our community for every person in it is not a political gender ideology our students are not being indoctrinated this isn't about this isn't just about protecting lgbtq students it's about making this a better place for students of
color for students with disabilities does that make this an accepting environment for all kids to thrive as student is humans the last meeting to mentioned coming into UI Community I'm very interested and getting involved in any other ways to support the DUI work sending it submitted a copy of my statement put my contact information [Applause] yes thank you and and we don't have emergency license FYI um actually reading um some comments from a fellow parent Alexis Alba she couldn't be very much that we greeted for her um but I also second and um you know put along with everything that has been expressed so like many other parents I will not sit back and let a vocal minority control the narrative that our goal as parents should be to rebate public education as an extension
of our personal values I would not ask that every teacher reproduce every tenant of my own belief nor should any other parent one of the primary goals of public education is to prepare students to thrive in a society comprised of diverse experiences identities and opinions you are free to instill your values in your children but to argue for the Erasure of an entire group of people from even being discussed in public spaces is to deny their very existence and to deny their historical struggles and suffer does nothing but harm all children who should be trusted to consider the values of their families with in the social environment of the Greater Community we should trust our children to be naturally generous and tolerant and recognize that bigotry and oppression are taught [Applause] thank you is there
any other public comment Brianna I feel so fortunate so thank you for coming to speak Duty I wanted to um acknowledge the work that Dr Morgan has continued for several years it's been a slow build to get these people in the place to do the support and work and I want to thank them for a couple of things in our team that students don't be safe and he wants to change that I was um I was glad to hear that there's going to work um and you committee has been formed that's hardening but I wanted to take this opportunity to encourage all of you to um be great and say out loud to our kids that it's okay to be great it's okay to be transgender it's okay to be straight that when I come
to the school they're going to be protected then you guys are going to fight for them I I don't think it's fair to ask the kids to eat right now to sit here and silence stand in the couch couch everything in a politically correct way so I just wanted to ask you to um to stand up for them and um not have around our feet but it looks like and it has [Applause] so Rihanna it is okay for our kids to be dead to be transgender to have special needs to be straight to be athletic to be smart to be just them we will fight for every student in this tradition and we will never stop if it's the last thing I do remember so you have awkward that we believe in this we hired
a Dei director to believe in this we want every student and every staff member to feel safe it is not okay that you don't I'm not going to partake or participate in a back and forth argument in the middle of my meeting and this is technically the board's meeting right so we don't do that we respect what everyone is saying however we will protect our children and we will protect our students and we will protect ourselves I will go down with them you know they all we all fight for this every night that we're here we all fight for the Dei on peace so so know that in our hearts um but but we also will follow New York State guidance we will follow the education from New York State we will make sure that
people are educated and we will make sure that people are treated fairly we do have docs of rules and laws and we have gossip people I don't remember what they're called right now um what are they coordinators um if someone is healing like they're being picked on we will advocate for them and these Dasa coordinators will fight to protect okay if anyone wants to speak with me individually feel free everyone does anyway and I'm okay okay so I don't even know where we are okay so student board members what do you guys have for us tonight so last Thursday it was the Junior Prom and it was a paperwork we promised a great success so the turnout of 125 people considering our original estimate to cover cost was around 60 I think it was pretty
good to know um um on November 30th the high school will be having a student Ulster admissions day and during their fifth instead of the period lunches students can fill out their applications without the missions represented and they will be notified immediately if they've been accepted this year the musical is on and it's pronounced that they are before availability reforming Mamma Mia oh nice and considering we have had a musical for quite a few years this will be very really exciting and then finally the class of 2025 is hosting their pancake breakfast at Santa at the High Falls Cafe so on November 26th so if you'd like to get tickets to that we can see a sophomore representative and they will sell those tickets to you thank you are they sophomores [Music] it was a
long long time ago Emily thank you thank you Sierra what's up oh that's the whole thing okay so um great um do we have any administrative reports Mr Davenport yeah I'm just reporting on Marvel town um I may have told you that thanks to our librarian Mrs pink at the end of September author Matthew Swanson and his wife illustrator Bobby Robbie bear uh visit the Marble Town School is a part of the bus load of bookstore Matthew variety or traveling your country with their kids in a colorful bus visiting one title one school in New State and during the assemblies uh Matthew and Robbie told students about the remission of promoting greed they also told about how they developed stories and illustrations for the book what I didn't tell you is that one of Robbie
and Matthew's descent believes that one of them they brainstormed with students ideas for a story and it was called Circle carrot and the potato of Doom after that assembly we had two students Robert Morris and Jack demon they took that kernel my little idea and they wrote a draft a super carrot and potato doom and with the support of Miss Houston he edited the book Jack was Robert's illustrator and he brought Robin's book to life he's wonderful illustration so it was really kind of neat to see an assembly turned into something that was inspiring students also in October our second graders went to the showcan Center for a rich hands-on experience that taught students how life today has progressed for long ago she's participated in the one read Schoolhouse they participated in demonstrations about colonial
life including blacksmithing Brew making cidering a field trip provided the foundation for all students as they began a social studies unit on time continuity and change uh Marble Town has a short nature trail behind it what we call Thornton's Woods and the woods are named after the man who's principal many many years ago when the trees were planted in fact the storm was my principle and I was one of the children who planted the satellites so many years ago that's a little discouraging that they're so big but thanks to our PTA and especially the Swisher family the nature trail was cleared and cleaned up in October and as soon as a penetrated plastic we've used it for exercise science classes in other parts our book fair in October uh we helped the PTA help the
postmark book fair at Marble Town they also held their family night down at Marble Town Park Under The Pavilion and with so many of our kids involved in soccer down at the park it was great location to meet with families and we want to thank both of our folks in Roseville for their support we also had our teacher the k-1151 teacher Denise and Bellucci she won a contest with waking up with CJ and Jess radio program 97.79.7.3 The Wolf the prize was that the radio personality CJ and Jess will come visit the school and they arrived at Marble Town with some treats and some Halloween costumes for our students and then they visited Miss angelique's class where students practice speech conversational skills as they interviewed the radio hosts so I want to thank Miss angelucci
teaching system is in Agro because they did a great job of posting that event we also want to thank CJ and Jess as they've been to our school twice now over the past five years and they're just very gracious with their kids at the end of October we had the Halloween parade and the PTA posted our Trump Retreat event and the Trump choose event was absolutely amazing we had I think uh 23 cars decorated we had support from The Cottage Hill High Falls in Stone Ridge fire departments and of course there was a nail Marble Town municipal center Once Upon called the Rosendale School that's where the event was hosted uh we want to thank everyone who was involved the federal family won the prize for the best Geometry vehicle but there were so many
great entries that we may have to have more than one prize next year um Miss Blue's class teacher in our school and her her third grade students are working with Miss Megan Murphy Harris uh who's our speech one of our speech language Pathologists and they are serving speech skills and smiles to staff at Marshalltown students are working on their articulation goals in natural social settings by asking staff if they'd like to place a request an order for a refreshment on The Marble Town munchie card so they're working on the pre-vocational career as worries around opportunities and following the visual menu and filling the orders requested and we really want to thank Miss Williams students it's a really fun thing for the students and a great way for them to work towards academic goals by while
doing something that is fun and also wonderful for a faculty staff we have new uh basketball backboards installed at Marble Town outside on the K1 playground and so I want to thank our buildings at ground crew but especially the Garland rating and GPS company so there's two brand new basketball back reports at Marble Town those systems were installed there on the K1 playground and they are nice and adjustable which is perfect for a little kindergarten first draft students do we want to be big 11 through 12th graders Monday um playing on a different varsity teams speaking of which Gander basketball one of our goals this year is to expand upon School opportunities for our students so we are trying to build a connection between Marble Town and the rest of the school with that in
mind our school counselor Daniel Waldron middle school counselor Stacey Bowers and middle and Marble Town pde teacher Brad kotzel are running Gator basketball an after-school program for second and third grade students and it's designed to teach some basketball skills about having an act of a lot of fun but I also want to thank athletic director Mr Bennett because he and I have been talking for a while about trying to build that connection between little kids and our diversity athletes and so we've had that this year we have four varsity basketball players volunteering for a program kids enjoy it they look up to these uh these students and the students have been wonderful role models so role models that I want to thank that banks 8.work Jacob and Terrace Karen stand for volunteering through time it's
been it's been wonderful uh third grade field trip one of the things that I've been working on with our ptas to try to create more opportunities for students to go on a field trip our km1's going two a year or two and threes we try to expand opportunities specifically looking to create uh opportunities for students to connect with the people and places to learn about the rich diverse Carriage right here in our local area so there's so much interesting and nuanced history right here in the Hudson Valley and around that Valley so last week our third grade students went to Huguenot street from new vaults they learned about the British hugots and they saw the homes and buildings there they visited the home of David Hasbrouck and David Hasbrouck with one of the early Dutch
settlers in New Paltz upon his death he broke with tradition and left his business to his wife who took it over and became the wealthiest woman in New Paltz also at their home our students got to see where their children lived and they saw the slave recorders and through this experience students learn the history is written for some but not Brothers in some of the history we do know is through legal documentary wanted posters which they were able to see there there was also a nice tie because November is Native American heritage month and our students visit visited the reconstructed Wigwam over there the location of the Wigwam is where there was once upon a time archaeological day not too many years ago the reconstructed weight Wigwam is placed on the very location where the
archaeologists came and found the uh burnt Cedar Post of the Whitewater many many years ago and as a side note this de Janeiro worked on that archaeological site many years ago gratitude this month in our school are focusing on gratitude and we're modeling a way of approaching life that emphasizes the positive so this month each classes are even a little thankful spot by Diane Albert we're also teaching students ways to Express gratitude simple if of course being think we're also introducing students have been working on gratitude related activities tied to Veterans Day Thanksgiving day and all other kinds of different uh recognition days last week for students showed gratitude to our veterans in Miss Melville's class students held Zoom with two veterans one who haven't been a Sportsman's father and the other one is Kennedy's
father and one was a Navy veteran one was the Army veteran we also had two veterans visit our school Stephen protas and Gina Edinger carbonari Stephen as you know the Middle School assistant principal he's a Marine veteran he's a Marvel Town parent is a marble Town graduate and a former art teacher so he kicked off her name by doing morning announcements and telling students a little bit about the history of Veterans Day he then visits first in third grade classes we showed his uniform told him about what victory statement to him and the kids really loved having him back in the building especially our third graders who had him as an art teacher Lisa Edinger carbonari is a marine veteran and Marble Town graduate she and her dog visited kindergarten in second grade classes students
learn that this carbonara spent 22 years in the Marines working in five states in several countries she explained to students that animals work in the middle serve in the military Miss carbonari's interested in animals letter to her current position as the executive director of the SPCA Kingston and so the kids really enjoyed asking her a lot of questions about her life and they also got into her rescue dog Diana today all of us thanks for gratitude professionals today is SRP day so thank you to our srps who truly could not do it without them um above and beyond all that our staff is working hard to learn uh better News student management system fast Bridge it was just assist assessment system they're working each day to help students learn to read write do math learn
about social studies and science they're attending to the social emotional needs of our students through a whole host of different activities of programs and there's much much more I'm honored to be the principal of Marble Town we have an absolutely fantastic staff our students are wonderful in a PTA the transcript is support so I appreciate that I want to say just a little quick thank you to at least she's been doing a real awesome job of getting out the good news of what goes on in this district and so some of the stuff that I'm saying here tonight you've probably already heard because she's done such a great job of getting that information out I want to thank Mrs Clark and people of high school and I understand it was pretty uh very pretty uh
awesome prom I also need to put in a little plug for holiday craft fair at Marble Town on Saturday a third of a long release going down and I the taxes says that it's snowed three inches since I started [Applause] and I like that you're always an educator because I don't know why a lot so thank you um anybody else you're good okay Chris do you want to start the fourth time sure um actually I don't have a whole lot of um updates because a lot of what we've met um we met last week for budget and Facilities um and the two agenda items on tonight are the budget calendar update and then the senior taxes we've been talking about that last couple of board meetings we now feel like we have something ready for
you all to um to approve so what we hope you'll get we'll get your support tonight the budget calendar I'll add some comments once you get to that item I think Alyssa will explain it and then if there's any um anything I can add up there we'll do that at that point um I want to thank you all for coming tonight this is actually a nice civil meeting and it was nice to hear the perspective so thank you um I'm speaking for myself personally not as a board member um or not representing the board I should say but I do want you to know the work that this board has been doing over the past two years working with Dr Morgan uh putting the Dei policy in place um we're committed to to moving in
this Direction I mean this is not simply a poster hanging on the wall that actually took a lot of work um a lot of data driven get Gathering feedback from the students from the teachers all the code books um of people in our community and I think that really represents at least for me personally where we should be going so thank you Chris Nicole um for my committee update we are we are having um our next committee meeting for the educational delivery um committee it's going to be on the 17th this week at five o'clock we're going to be going over our procedures for adding and eliminating academic programs courses and textbooks and we're also going to be doing a thorough review of our state test scores and our star scores so we'll be reviewing
that information um I hope everyone can join us it's here and it's open to the public um we um I'd also just like to kind of piggyback up on what Chris was saying it took us a long time to be able to kind of revisit our mission and our vision that we had for our district and super proud of all of the hard work that went into that um and at the core of that is making sure that our students are seen and heard for who they are and that they feel safe and that and I think that's um I'm proud of that work as a member of the board and um and I hope that my daughters and all the kids that that attend Roanoke Valley feel safe when they come to school each
and every day so that's a goal for me anyways and I believe that um by putting together that mission statement I think that that is some strive to work towards every you know each and every year with all the work that we do thank you for coming to me okay I do not have a committee update but I do want to just um you know thank all the ptas you know through Mr dad before um you know reminded me uh it wasn't that long ago um how hard it is for those ptas to do what they do and we all we have an excellent group of ptas and uh they enrich our students life so I'm really thankful for them so and and the field trips too I'd love to see them out there and
I'd like to see more of that I think that's fantastic um and thank you to the Chrome committee I know it was a lot of work um I heard it was an absolutely fantastic time so thank you thank you Christine the Health and Wellness committee is meeting tomorrow at 5 30 Via zoom and if anyone is interested in joining we can contact Amazon 4805 we are looking forward to it as it's our first meeting I've been kind of question off not intentionally and I also love to see something that's happening I love to hear what's going on in school I just to kind of reminds us all while we're here thank you Dean um yes so as Chris said we met last Tuesday I'll just kind of talk about the facility side we met with
CPL uh to discuss the electric bus assessment kind of went over that which we uh we voted on WE toured the intermediate and middle school all the new upgrades and it looks amazing what a difference looking good right definitely does is it um like is it is it all like done or there's still there's still still work to be done equipment but Windows lights floor gyms cafeteria awesome well thank you thank you Karen um I have a few bullets here um first um it's November 15th for those of you that don't know the school related professional day so SRP day so I want to thank all our school related professionals uh you know we have amazing administrators and amazing District level administrators but we can't move forward without them whether they're in the classroom as
Tas or monitors or Aids it doesn't matter so um we acknowledge them on November 15th every day so um happy SRT day so our student related questions um secondly uh we do have a group of students and I do not have the list in front of me so I apologize but I think I mentioned it at the last meeting we do have a group of students going to area Allstate this weekend um so good luck to them um we can both their Orchestra and band concerts under Athletics I do have um some notes here from coach Panic we want to congratulate The Following on their post-season accomplishments under swimming Clara Santo qualified for States next week at Webster um for golf the golf team won the Mahal division finished second overall and had three golfers
qualify their individual sectionals in the spring Hudson Haley cosine Luke and Dominic I think I did this last week Gemini tonight um for cross country we had three runners that qualified for seats in one sectional titles Chris Jordan Sutherland Roth and is even seller and they also um they had a great showing at uh Vernon Verona show field hockey field hockey team won the Mahal again and they won the sectionals again um so congratulations to them um they did uh they were beat out by Carle Place at the Regionals which was held here last week but it was it was a great game those girls had an amazing and amazing season last but not least last week we had the Heil from with field hockey signed a letter of intent she will be going to
Pace University and playing division two field hockey and John usoy signed a letter of intent uh with UMass Lowell where he will be playing Division One lacrosse so congratulations to all of them this past Monday um yesterday started winter season at the varsity level so good luck to all our winter athletes and I believe next week is modified maybe yes next week starts modified so again um Good Luck to all our athletes as we mentioned Adventures thank you sorry almost as long as Andy but not much Kids in Need for the holidays and uh it's always a busy time and stressful time so if anyone I'm sure these helpful donations for that and I want to thank Debbie gastine and Miss with Jacka who worked with Helping Hands for children for 100 years how many

during the high school through covid and everything else so congratulations well sir goodbye okay of course I just want to say that as an administrator I do not have your role it is by far the most demanding role I think I think the superintendent and everyone does a lot of work but it's very unique position and it's very demanding um and I for one appreciate all the hard work and dedication you're always here so um we know that you care you care about the kids and everyone in the building and I just want to say it doesn't go unnoticed and thank you for your time and dedication thank you anyone else is Lucy I'd like to congratulations in the years I was in high school I can not count for the principal Center as we
have here in terms of time came in and took over unified ability and it really shows so thank you it's great but I think when we think about the kids Jessica I think all the activities you brought in right to keep these kids engaged and coming to the school getting more Community feel right the food truck um it's the Winterfest all those ideas I really think has made a much more Community Spirit at the high school so thank you good job over here there's always something else and that's that you're setting an expectation yeah more food trucks anyone else we're good okay um Alyssa oh I have the budget count here um so it's very similar to last year in terms of the timeline um one thing I do have to change the date on
the 1st on November 28th 2022 not 2023. um and then another highlight is that between April 1st and the 17th the committee is going to meet again after the UMC executive budget um is released it's supposed to be released on April 1st but I believe last year was like a weekly so we just kind of left that timeline so whenever it is released that we can review it again before the second draft and adoption but everything else kind of similar similarly follows um the nisba calendar that they put out for the budget um you know there's a bunch of requirements that have to happen um and then I just kind of work backwards from there so if you have anything actors well yeah I think the reason I wanted to bring this on the full
board um if you look so the first draft of the budget you all will see March 21st it's prior to that executive budget being released right so we're going to really be looking at I think what is our best picture our best kind of hypothetical but that all can change once we see where the state's budget is um so what that means is after that meeting there's not a whole lot of time to fit in another board meeting I think that would work when you worked out if you're at a conference it means that that April 1st through 17 if we had a major change budget we might be doing a lot of work as a committee to make adjustments and you won't see that until the adoption moves April 18th um I think we
can talk throughout make sure we keep you all informed as we go but I just want to make sure you all were comfortable with this with understanding that anything major that comes up we will make sure that we are sending you the information um so Chris if we need to have a meeting that time if Dr Morgan is traveling um this pack could could um okay so just in case there's a lot of updates um because I know that um the board really likes to see some of this and understand it before we adopt okay um thank you so on the calendar um I'll show you the next one recommended motion where section 467 the New York real property tax law provides like public school districts they bring partial attention from taxation as prevented any
discussion all those in favor any opposed motion carries we recommended motion that the Board of Education except the financial report for September 2022 as presented I'll make the motion any discussion all those in favor any opposed motion carries that sounds great to recommended motion Board of Education through the tax refund D through I as we went through any discussions all those in favor any opposed motion carries I'd like to make a recommended motion to adjourn tonight's November 15 2022 board meeting any discussion all those in favor any opposed motion carries be safe going home please thank you [Music] I forgot about that
