Okay, welcome to December 17th, 2025 board of education meeting. Stand for the pledge, please to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Uh, first item is the acceptance of the agenda. Motion, please. >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? I. Any >> opposed? Got it. >> Agenda is accepted. Next item is the consent agenda. That's resolution 043 2025. >> Motion. >> Second. >> Go. Any discussion on the consent agenda? All those in favor? I. >> Any opposed? Consent agenda is approved. >> Would anyone from the public like to address the board? >> Being none, we'll move to financial reports. >> Um, everything is saved on the share drive like normal. You'll see that the
budgetary transfer report this time this month is quite lengthy. We've been working hard going through line by line for all of our personnel codes to get everything cleaned up and aligned with where people are actually located. Um, and we're doing this now ahead of when we're preparing for the next budget so that it'll be all cleaned up. Not that it was wrong, just that when we budgeted, we budgeted maybe for a specific position that was needed, but it's a different budget code if they're in like, for example, all in Prova, grades K1, two have one budget code and grades three or four, five have a different budget code. And so it was just making sure that things like that align with where people ended up. Um, so I'm not sure if anyone had any questions,
but that's that's what it all is. So there's a lot that are over 10,000 at this point. [clears throat] >> So that's resolution 044 2025 approving the current budgetary transfer board as presented by the school business executive. Motion please move. >> Second. Any discussion? >> Great job. I'm glad to clean up the right pockets. Well, it's got to be hard, you know, looking at this living balance, >> you know, like talking about the scale of our budget and going, "All right, where does the 30 cents go?" >> Well, I know, but we really did even do the pennies and I have to Gina Fington. Yeah, Gina Fington was a huge help with this >> and Jen had to do a couple of reco things. It's really been the whole office and we're um we're going
through the expense lines next so stay tuned. All right. All in favor? I >> I opposed. Resolution approved. >> Thank you. Um the next resolution is the second reading and adoption of the policy that I had last month. I'm not sure exactly what >> that's fixed assets. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> So that's resolution 045 2025. Second reading and adoption policy 6645 fixed assets management motion >> Joe >> second. >> Any further discussion on that clarifications? >> All in favor? >> I oppose approve. >> Thank you. >> And then the third resolution that I have is our budget development calendar for the next budget process. Um it's the same as last year just updated with the correct dates of our meetings and based on um [clears throat] you know legally there's certain number of days
before the vote that things had to happen. So I just made sure that we were in line with all of that as well. >> Okay, let's get that up on the floor. Resolution 046 2025 approving the 2627 budget calendar. >> Motion >> second. >> Y >> any further discussion on the budget calendar. >> I'll fix the typo at the top. [laughter] >> This goes on the website, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. All in favor? >> I. Any opposed? The calendar is set. Old business. Uh, first item, capital project update stand. >> Uh, capital project continues to wrap up. We do have one um item that we may be bringing to the board. We are finding that we need some work additional work that was not in the scope of the EPC project to help our
first four at petroa run correctly. uh we would like to do the work in conjunction with some corrections that are being made under the EPC project uh because they have to drain the system and we want while the system is drained to do all the changes at the same time. We're still working on what that proposal would look like. Just want you to be aware that it will probably be forthcoming uh in the next meeting or two. And we spoke today about it for uh Nikki and I and that our best place for that would actually be to use one of our reserve funds that we have for um maintenance and repair reserve. This is the time to use we're thinking it'll come in somewhere around $25,000 exactly what that funds is for. Um and
I'll be back with more. I just didn't want it to be a surprise when I brought it forward. And that would be like fittings and stuff like that. Some unions that are bad. >> That's exactly what it is. So we have some some backflow preventors. That's not what they're called, but they're they're actually a flow check. >> Yes. Thank you. The flow checks in there. They're in the walls. They're not they're not near the unit. So when they came in to to scope out the work, nobody was really [snorts] aware that they were there. where the where the pipes actually elbow and change and they're slowing down the flow now that we're electric uh controls. They're slowing down the flow of the water and messing with how that's supposed to work. So, while we have
the system drained, we'd like to get rid of those. >> We're getting about 50% efficiency on the first place. Correct. >> Yeah, makes sense. >> Anything else that look? >> That's it. >> Uh the district facilities planning committee update. Um we really don't have much there. We're going to meet tomorrow. So uh [clears throat] unless uh Mike want. >> Okay. New business. uh the fall 2025 sports uh wrap up with our 54. I want to thank you for coming and doing this course because this is meaningful to us see this beginning of the season. >> Yes, I this year obviously uh was very exciting with the new field. Um and there really was like a sense of pride and passion brought back that we haven't seen in a while. Definitely not since my tenure of
being back. Um and that it translated to the kids whether it was sports that were on the turf or not. Um but every game there was hundreds of kids showing up and obviously hundreds of fans and and it was a lot of fun this year. Um and then so to start off boys cross country uh finished with 12 and six record finished third in sectionals. EMTT Van Buskerk was our sole uh qualifier for the state meet. The girls cross country team had awesome regular season, finished 20 and0 and won the CVAC title. Unfortunately, didn't translate to sectionals and they lost to Sarinac and got second place, but we had Nora Dailyaly, Cadence Kennedy, and Asa Brutoo all qualified for the state meet. Volleyball had a successful season being up in class B, finished 12-4. Uh
they upset Platsburg in the semifinals and then lost a five set match to Peru in the finals. And then this year, NISPA now has a new uh regional rotation is what they call it. So because of the 11 sessions, it's it's tough to have a a feasible state tournament. So there's an atlarge bid that comes around once every 12 years for us. It happened to be this year, even though we lost the sectional final, we went on to state playoffs where we played Kabad Crane. Um same thing, girls played awesome, lost in the fifth set um in another highly competitive match. And then we had first team Lexi Donaldson. Second team Sophia McBride and Sophie Zadzik. And honorable mention was Grayson Foster for volleyball. Uh girls soccer finished with 39 and two at seven losses
by by one goal or in overtime. We had Tyler Berth and Kelsey Berth were both first team. Emma Aki and Lane Lock were named to the second team and they finished their season losing in the semi-finals to Sarin. And boys soccer finished 87 and one. They had a lot of injuries this season, but still were highly competitive. They lost to Sarinac one- nothing in the semi-final. We had Mason Stoddard and Ethan Knight were first team all league and Zack McCarthy and Mick Dankenburgger were second team all league. And then football finished with a five and three record. Uh they defeated O Sable in a nice snowy night under the lights here in the first round of the playoffs and then lost a close heartbreaker against Sarinac in the final. We had Sam Dupri, David Montroy,
Scotty Nicholas were all first team and Miles Frasier and Braden Harvey were our honorable mentions. Just got all of our varsity sports wrap up. They just added in our participation. Nothing really changed. Obviously, we're up a little bit. Um having the the two big classes left uh really helps. Um, obviously the numbers get smaller. It's just kind of like a natural attrition, but nothing different than we've seen in the last couple years. Um, the biggest, you know, scary ones right now, boys soccer, obviously losing 13 seniors is going to be a little scary to replace. Um, everything else kind of seems to be good moving forward for fall sports. And that's just a graph showing a different way. >> And then for our transportation, um, football was down. Coach Bennett and I made a couple
deals to get a whole bunch of home games here this year. Obviously, we had a lot of home games, so we'll be on the road a little bit next year, but so football's a little bit down. Also, not having um JV for most of the season. That part's down. Everything else, same thing, right on par where it has been uh the last couple years. No crazy outliers. And then we added in um injuries this year. So Dino and I last year started um really tracking these and then for the spring what we are going to be able to start tracking is the where the injuries are happening. So if they're happening mostly on the turf, mostly on the grass in the gyms, all of that. Um there's really no translation between the year. It all
depends on the teams, all depends on what's happening. But most of our injuries were during practices this year and not during games. Um, obviously we had a lot more non-cont stuff going on than contact. Um, don't, you know, only have two years of it, so I don't really know any rhyme or reasons on it, but we'll keep tracking it and see if we can figure anything out. And then, uh, lastly, I just bought kind of where new jerseys are at. We kind of keep these on a rotation right now. Um, golf with the new bags. The the big thing that we're buying this year is the the new timing service for track outside. So, that's kind of where a lot of that money is coming from. Um, but the service will be able to kids
will cross the finish line and their names and everything will immediately be right on the board. And, um, it's pretty cool little system. So, that's our false. >> We'll actually guarantee that you'll have the state qualifier. >> Yes, that is the plan. And with the steeple chase, um, the plan is to to host state qualifiers, but we haven't boarded on that one just yet. So, that's all I got. I think that's really neat that you know that the name and time will go right up on the scoreboard because when you're a bear on track you're going to be on the stopwatch and >> and it's the same if anybody's ever been to one of the state beach the sectionals um like you can follow the app and follow your kid and see what's next and
all that. So we'll have access to all of that here. Um I don't know exactly what system yet split or something but once we get it we'll play with it and it'll be fun. Nice upgrade. Perfect. >> All right, that's all I got. Thank you. >> Thank you, Forest. >> Okay, next item of business is our super. [clears throat] >> Yeah, I'm sorry. You don't whatever you do don't touch. >> Thank you very much. So Mark and I meet before each of the facilities [clears throat] planning subcommittee meetings to go over the agenda and talk about plan and we were talking about a possible timeline and he said could you could you put that down in writing and share it with everybody because there's a lot of different meetings a lot of things happening here.
So, what I've shared with you is a possible timeline uh for community input and board consideration of Bloomingdale school use for the 2627 school year. Um we talked at the last meeting and that sort of has to be the first. We have some other things that hinge on this especially uh transportation with one runner too. Um so this needs to be a decision that's made earlier than any other decision. So, I put together a possible timeline. We have a working timeline tomorrow. We've already mentioned that the district facility subcommittee is meeting. Um, the agenda includes building configuration options and Bloomingdale budget implications among other things. January 6 and 7, I'm recommending that we have public hearing for community input on Bloomingdale School use 2627, one at Bloomingdale School, followed by one here at the high
school. One of the things we talked about multiple times is opportunities for community input. So, um, you'll see that there is a resolution on the agenda. [clears throat] We'll get to that in a couple minutes for approving those as public hearing dates. I would suggest that January 14th we just have a regular meeting. Of course, we'll discuss what uh the public hearings, the Bloomingdale budget implications, other things. There's always a report out from the subcommittee at the board of education meeting, the January 21st district facility subcommittee meeting. It will include I'm suggesting we haven't had our meeting yet, but I'm suggesting that it will include a facility subcommittee members input for the board of education on the use of Bloomingdal Elementary School for 2627. Um, I would highly recommend that we actually announce that as
a meeting that will have no action. think it would be really helpful for board members who are not on the subcommittee to hear the conversation, allow the committee members to see you, hear you, interact uh and get that information directed rather than being carried back in meeting notes. And it's it's easy for us to make that a meeting and simply announce there's an action happening at that meeting. And it's an open meeting anyway, so there' really be no change. Um January 28th would be a board of education meeting regularly scheduled. We'll of course discuss all the import in input that we've received and I will share just verbally my recommendation regarding the use of Bloomingdale Elementary School for the 26 27th. Just putting it out there. I know how important it is for the board
for people to know what's coming and be aware. So I would share it at that meeting. I'm asking for a move to February 4th rather than February 11th for the next board of education meeting. At that point, it would be a formal recommendation on the agenda, but not for action. Again, an opportunity for the community to know that this is the recommendation that I'm bringing forward formally at this point. That would leave three weeks for um community input, staff input, opportunity to collect any additional input people would like regarding that. Um there'll be a February 18th district facility subcommittee meeting in there. I don't have the agenda. We'll see how all of this plays out before I'm able to get that far out to what that agenda will be. Um and then the recommendation of
a possible vote on February 25th regarding the use of Boom Elementary School for uh 26 27 >> sure we can't put another meeting in [laughter] >> I have a few in here and Joe's going to mention that I totally screwed up the DEI meeting and there's a DEI meeting in here also. stuff. There'll be a few other meetings happening besides that. >> Did you already send out an invite for the force? >> I have we had a board event meeting on >> you might have >> on my calendar. >> Okay. >> Telekinesis. >> We talked about it last and we did. >> Yeah. [laughter] just >> when Diane and I went over like, man, we're just gonna stay right here for the month. >> If our if our goal is to be as accessible as
possible for input from the community, we've got to be accessible as possible and offer as many different ways for input as we possibly can and to be available multiple times. >> Decisions you're making are impacting so many people that >> correct as much and preparation respectful. >> I agree. >> Back to back to back to back time. >> Yeah. We thought doing the public hearings two days in a row was better than spacing them out. So there's not a lot of take get them done so people can get well let's do resolution number 047205 approving the date change of the February 26 meeting from the 11th to the 4th motion please >> second >> any discussion in favor >> I will not be here on the 4th >> I'll be on in an airplane Yeah.
[laughter] >> Zero apologies. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Any oppose? >> So that adjustment is approved. [cough] >> Ready for the next one? >> Yes. >> Thank you. Uh resolution number 048 2025 approving the January 6th at Bloomingdale 6:30 p.m. and the 7th at the high school door at 6:30 as public hearing dates regarding district facility use planning. Motion >> second. >> Any further discussion on that? >> Great idea. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. Okay, those are approved. >> Got anything else for us? That's [laughter] my report. >> Okay, thank you. Uh, let's see what we got for administrators here tonight. How about Josh? Kick us off. [laughter] >> I'm good. Students have my report. >> Amy, >> um, at the middle school, we continue to take a proactive and
developmentally appropriate approach to teaching our students how to be safe and responsible online. Uh, as you know, we partner closely with Saran Lake Police Department with Chief Farad and Officer Buckley, speaking to all of our sixth graders about online safety, harassment, and hate crimes. Uh, we do that annually. In addition, New York State Trooper Connley presents online safety strategies to all seventh graders as part of their digital literacy course. Beyond these partnerships, our classroom instruction also reinforces these messages. Um, in Mr. Schmidt's seventh grade health classes this week. Students are currently creating social media podcasts to increase awareness about online safety. They're working with a partner um to identify one of the four social media stressors and discuss how it can negatively impact users. Students will also identify practical strategies that they can use to
protect themselves online, explore both positive and negative impacts of social media, and reflect on personal plans for improving how they interact on social media if they are on social media outside of school and at home. This work is supported through a guided social media test drive simulator that Mr. Schmidt uses, allowing students to safely practice decision-making in realistic scenarios. Students then create and share their podcasts with peers in class, reinforcing learning through student voice and peer-to-peer discussions. So, I just want to thank Mr. Schmidt for providing this opportunity for our students to explore it in a safe classroom. Um, and then we are also really excited to host the high school vocal and jazz ensemble at their holiday concert at our middle school on Tuesday morning. This annual event is a is a wonderful treat
for our students and staff. We love to see our former middle school students shine. Um, and Mr. Benware and Mr. Koga do a wonderful job explaining all of the musical opportunities that our students have when they leave the middle school and go to 9th grade and beyond. So, we're really looking forward to that on Tuesday. >> Perfect. Thank you. Student report. >> Okay. So, we had a meeting with him to talk about [laughter] to talk about how we can get the students involved in the superintendent. So, we decided that we'll each take a class. So, I'm taking my class. Max's taking his Tyler's taking 12 >> student council. >> Yeah, she's in student council. And then Sierra's taking nine. So, we're going to go and ask all the students what they think would make the
good superintendent and then what wouldn't and then we have illumini day tomorrow. >> Yep. So, >> Friday. Yeah. >> So, they'll come in last year's class and there's a driver's ed drinking and driving PSA with honey. >> Uh we have a lot of music stuff coming up the next week. Like we have we have Will Rogers on Saturday which is a vocal ensemble of jazz and we go there just so that people who can't get out of Rogers to go see our actual concert they can still see music and then on Monday we have our full winter concert which should hopefully be a good turnout. And as Mrs. McGuire already said we have our uh vocal ensembles and jazz going to the middle school which uh I think that it's a good way to get
uh younger students already involved in high school music. And uh finally on the 23rd we have ugly sweater day which fun. [laughter] That's all I have. >> Okay, perfect. Thank you. doing the committee reports. I just want to add um for clarification. So, we have our four board reps and our student council president that will be soliciting the feedback and then they're going to tally that and get that to us for our consideration. Excuse me. And when we get to the resume portion, um we'll we'll have them have some looks at that as well. So, excited to see what our students want in their next leadership >> or don't want. >> Right. So, thank you for that. Um, Joe, >> nothing. >> Zack, >> nothing. >> Jory, >> I have a couple things. Um, I
am finishing my term on the awards and recognition committee um with NISB and Wayne Rogers, area 6 director has asked me to be the area 6 resolutions. >> Nice. >> Um, so that's kind of exciting. Um, definitely better voices heard that way. Um, Wednesday, February 11th, and Josh and I talked about this a while ago. We haven't had a chance to talk about it since, is this annual lobby day. It's an opportunity. Um, I have in the process of scheduling meetings with whatever legislator will meet with us, and I would love it if we could take um some of our student reps with us. It gives um it gives an opportunity to sit down in their offices um and have really good one-on- ones. Um, another example is Dan Steck, who I've now met with
four times. He already knows a little bit and then he's gotten to know us and he has questions. So, it really develops a back and forth and it's a great opportunity to uh to meet with them, but also see how the whole process works. And, um, I've spoken with a few other districts and they are bringing kids as well. So, it's a chance to meet some of your um, cohorts. And that's all I have. Mike report. >> There's no further business. I'll entertain a motion to adjourn. >> Second. >> Any conversation about that? No. Thank you. All those in favor? >> I don't care short. [clears throat] >> Happy holiday. Good afternoon.
