If you bear with us just for a few moments, we're going to provide you with some more chairs. You want to grab a few chairs, >> guys? You want to grab a few chairs? >> Oh, yeah. There we go. We'll pull it out. Can you move up? >> Can you move up? >> I can move up. Did I screw you up terribly? At least I've got that nice >> everybody up here too. Wow. >> While you're doing it, I'll be there for the first It could be >> I have a really good There are some seats up front if anybody wants to sit. I'm sure they'll all be staying for the entirety of the meeting. Okay, good evening everybody. Thank you for joining us. It is feast or famine in this boardroom and I'm glad

to see so many people here tonight uh as we celebrate the musical, artistic and athletic achievements of our students. But first, please rise and join me in the pledge. >> I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> We're going to begin this evening with our student report from Matt Hines. Take it away, Matt. Good evening everyone. So I hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing break this past week and I know I did. So the most exciting news for the high school is it's now currently research season. So as AP research research students continue to wrap up their presentations and papers. The science research students are also competing in their own

competitions. So they competed in the South Asian-American women's alliance competition, the Long Island science and engineering fair, the the New York State Science and Engineering Fair, and also the Kathy Belton competition. So these are research students who are studying an extraordinary topic. So we're very proud of them. And in fact, we have 16 students competing this Thursday and Monday. So wish them luck. And in the C for middle school, they hosted their March Madness style pickle ball tour tournament during this week leading up to the break. Students placed bids to partner up for teachers and with 36 teachers and students participating altogether. Over $600 was raised and donated to the John Bon Children's Foundation. So that's just an amazing event altogether. And the middle school will now run this event annually to continue supporting this

foundation. So that's an extremely honorable act as well. At the Se Farmer School on Thursday, April 23rd, they'll be hosting the annual steam night. This year's theme is seasons of steam and the students will be able to make seasonal steam related crafts and enjoy a presentation by mad science. They also hosting their last peaceful bus assembly. This wonderful program helps to fortify fortify the students relationship with the bus drivers and encourages them to be reflective and to engage in a safe environment. And they're also preparing for the New York State assessments. So, it's an exciting year all around. And last, but certainly not least, is the C for Mata School. They just completed their March Mathness and their St. Jude's Mathon. And altogether, they raised over $2,300 for St. Jude's Hospital, which is just incredible.

So, it's just a great time all around for Seafford. And the Miners also doing a P school bus assembly as well. So, that's pretty much it for the Seafford School District. And thank you for FOR YOUR TIME. THANK YOU, MATT. UM, and now the administrative report from Dr. Okay, so Matt, once again, you've done a wonderful job. Thank you. I also would like to welcome everybody back from the spring vacation. I hope that everybody had a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends. >> And tonight we have three presentations, but We do that. It's become customary when new employees are joining our staff as teachers that we welcome them to our community as they are on the personal action report tonight for board approval. So I just like to take a couple of minutes and

recognize three individuals who will be joining our faculty. So the first one is Graceanne Cetti. Is Grace here? There she is. Grace is going to be joining our English department at the high school. She comes to us from PMED district. Prior to that, she was a English teacher in the Amityville school district as well. Her undergraduate degree was from Stonybrook in English and then she has her master's degree from Malloy College. So, we're very excited for Joy Grace to join our faculty and welcome, WELCOME, WELCOME. SO, NEXT WE have Christina. Um, D'Angelus. Is Christina here? There she is. Uh, so Christina is going to be joining us as a special education teacher and she comes to us from doing a lever replacement in Manhattan School District. Her undergraduate degree was a bachelor of science and

biology from Fairfield and her graduate degree was from Hustra in biology. I'm sorry, excuse me. She's going to be our biology teacher. I apologize. >> Okay. And last but not least, uh we are adding um speech pathologists to our team this year. And Samantha, is she here? Smith. Okay, I'm just going to tell you a little bit about Samantha Casari. So Samantha Samantha Casari is a seasoned teacher. She had eight years experience more recently. However, she was working from the Long Island Center for Speech and Myofunctional Therapy and her both degrees are from Modia University. So everybody u when you see Samantha just give her a nice welcome. So those are three faculty members that are going to be added tonight. We're going to start with two wonderful student presentations. The first is recognizing our

fabulous artists and musicians with all county status in art and music. I'm going to be introducing Dr. Kennedy to begin that presentation. >> Good evening everybody. Thank you for joining us. It's nice to see such a packed house. Um I'm Dr. I'm Kenny, the coordinator for fine and applied arts here in Seafford. And tonight marks a special recognition of some of Seafford's most talented and hardworking students in the arts. These individuals continually go above and beyond their commitment to their craft and their dedication and creativity reflect the very best of our school community. I would like to thank the board of education under the leadership of Miss Lisa Herbert and our central administration under the leadership of Dr. Adel Pakora for their unwavering support of the arts. We thank you for continuing to promote and

support our programs. We are proud to recognize 44 students who have demonstrated excellence in both the visual arts and in music. These students are not only leaders within our school community, but they've been recognized and honored by our local music and art organizations as all county artists and musicians. But before we recognize these students, please join me in applauding our high school saxophone ensemble who you heard as you made your way into the meeting tonight featuring Brian Caraman, Owen Nubie, Maya Reeves, Brandon Sebo, and Niko Tabota led by Mr. Penil. So, we begin by recognizing 24 all county artists. These students were nominated by their teachers in recognition of their exceptional talent and dedication to the visual arts. The artwork you see behind me and around the room are pieces that were selected for display

in the all county art exhibit this past March. At this time, I would like to ask middle school art teacher Miss Lucia to assist me in handing out the all county certificates. Artists, when your name is called, please come up to the podium, receive your certificate from Miss Lucia, and then line up in front of the uh the tables here for a group photo. And families, we ask that you please hold your applause until all the names have been called, and then we'll do one big round of applause at the end. >> Okay, so we'll begin with Seford High School. Angelina Katos, Naa Koli, Emma Edertz, come on up. Come on up. Emma Edards, Autumn Fight Singer, Harrison Fight Singer, Kayla Frank, Genevieve Freriedman, Caroline Martana, Lewis Munoz, Shay Mustachio, Christo, and Kayla Ramoni. from

Seafford Middle School. Ariana Viscco, Benjamin Blaha, Adam Gomez, Abigail Johnson, Keith Kern, and Alisandra Maresca. from the Secret Harbor School, Ariana Rosenblum, Aris Steamboas, and Fiona Wang. >> And finally from the Seafford Matter School, Mazino, Krishna, and John Trapot. All right, one more round of applause for Thank you. I think I need everyone angle. Where's the >> crunch? Congratulations. Before we move on move on to music, I want to express my appreciation to the teachers of our art department who continue to foster an environment that promotes student voice and creativity. So, please join me in thanking from the Secret Harbor School, Mrs. Christine Donnelly. From the Secret Manor School, Miss Sarah Huser, from Seaffort Middle School, Miss Stephanie Lucia and Mr. James Pollen. And from Secret High School, Mr. Michael Kerr, Mrs. Meinda McKe, Mr.

Curtis Tripoli, and Mr. Grant Weber. Okay. We We will now honor 20 student musicians who were selected to participate in the NASA Music Educators Music Educators Association AllCount Music Festival this past January. To earn the distinction of all county musician, students must first participate in the NISMA solo festival, receive a high score for their individual performance, and that they are selected by NMEA based on their NISMA score, teacher recommendations, and ensemble needs. At this time, I would like to ask high school music teacher Mr. Chris Kiglio to assist me in distributing the certificates. Musicians, similarly to uh the artists, when your name is called, please come to the podium, receive your certificate from Mr. Kiglio, and then line up for a group photo just as we did for art. And once again, families, we ask

that you hold your applause until all names have been called. >> From Sever High School, Karen Gustoson, Brian Caraman, Aaron McAndrew, Molly Restbo, and Brandon Seiboat >> from Seabird Middle School. Congratulations to all of our all county artists and musicians and we hope to see many of you at our upcoming events this spring season beginning with our chamber music concert on April 30th and our district-wide art show on May 14th. Hope to see you there. >> Thank you, Dr. Kennedy. Next, I'd like to ask up our our director for um athletics and physical education, Mr. Kevin >> W. Good evening everybody. Mr. Kennedy, Dr. Kennedy, fabulous job for all the uh artists and musicians. Great job. Congratulations. Now, it's time for uh for our wrestling

team. I want to first uh again thank the board of education because anytime we have the opportunity to recognize our wonderful athletes and tremendous coaches and this program publicly, it's it's always a special evening. So, thank you for that. Um I do feel like somewhat of a regular up here because of our athletic success, you know. So, that's always good. So, um Mr. Dave and Rob Texaris who's back there, if you guys could come up and join me. I'll keep going as they make their way up. Just watch yourself. So, I met these two uh gentlemen when I first started in uh in August of 2019. And um Dave over here was was the first coach I met. It might have been my first or second day on the job. And you know, he gave

me an earful about the program and I was I was really really impressed. And uh you know, as soon as you take over a new position, you're kind of excited. You're overwhelmed. You're kind of like just trying to figure it out. So, day two rolls around for me. And I think I see Dave. And uh I'm like, "Oh, there's that guy Dave again. I'm surprised I remember his name, but hey, Dave, how's it going?" He said, "No, I'm Rob." I said, "Oh, man. Stop." >> It took me a long time, I'm not going to lie, to to tell you the difference between the two. And then somebody, you know, told me a little trick. >> There's no shave Dave. >> No shave Dave. And then there's rock and then I've been getting it right ever

since. And I always feel excited when somebody who doesn't who can't tell them apart and I'm like ah there's a trick here. >> So uh that was that. But the other thing that kind of resonated with me in those first couple of days again this was August right wrestling is in the winter season. My second question I was like what are these guys doing here? Right? So my assistant said these guys are like really into the wrestling. You have no idea. So sure enough I was to them and they have open workouts in the weight room, right? They're conditioning with all the high school athletes. They they're doing math time downstairs. Oh, and then by the way, they do something during the day and then they come back and do the youth program in the

evening. And that's the hard work that these two have not just done since 2019, but since they started, what 15 years now? >> 2000. since Oh, >> is 2013. >> They've been with the program um as assistants and volunteers since 2000 and they headed the program in 2013. They're now both uh the varsity head coaches. So, they do a tremendous job. And everybody knows this in any high school athletic program that really really is super successful, the hard work that these guys do and the opportunities that are given to our tremendous athletes needs to happen. Otherwise, you just don't have the success like like we've like we've had over the years. So, I I can't thank you guys enough for that. Um, so now just kind of focusing on this year. I'm pretty sure we

don't know the difference Dave or Rob at this point, but one of them will probably say a few words afterwards. with you. Don't beat David. Um, but this year was really, really impressive, uh, to say the least. My friend over here was, so wrestling, for those who don't know, in all of New York State, it's broken down into division one and division two. Seafood is a smaller school, so we're D2, but we're a dominant D2 school. Coach Dave over here was Nassau County D2 coach of the year. Right. >> As a team, our wrestlers were a scholar athlete team. >> So, those are the two that I wanted you to clap for immediately and I'll kind of just run down a few things and we could just hold the applause for the end. So, there

our league record was 4-0. All right. Our overall record was 13-8. We had three all All conference wrestlers, all everybody's names will be mentioned at the end and you'll get a certificate. So, we're not for, you know, uh just to speed things up. We're not going to read out any of those names yet, but we have 12 all county wrestlers and we had uh two all state wrestlers this year. Um Brock Conway, a special shout out, was the D2 Nassau County wrestler of the year here as a So the coaches always talk about, you know, setting team goals at the beginning of the year and setting individual goals, but the team goals were to go for the hattick. And what does that mean? That means uh winning the uh conference championships. They did that. They

won the division 2 dual league championship and then they won the D2 individual championship. So that's the best you could do and you guys did it all. So that was really really impressive. Uh we have a nice senior group here who had tremendous success in their career. So you guys are all going to be deeply missed. Obviously you had a great run. Um that said we know we're we're still young and we have a lot of you know very successful wrestlers returning. So the future is always bright here in Seafford. And um again for you seniors you know thank you for all the hard work that you guys put in. and coaches. Again, I can't thank you enough for putting the time in that you guys do. Credit to, you know, your wives and everybody

like that for, uh, you know, letting you do what you guys do. So, again, all the wrestlers, you're going to get uh individual, you know, your name read out loud, but congratulations again. You guys are wonderful, and I love I love cheering you on. >> Thank you. I'm Dave, by the way. Uh, so, uh, thank you for that, uh, Mr. Wit, and thank you for the board and administration for having us. Uh, I know when Mr. Wood was speaking, I just see this open space here, and I think how cool would it be to have a take down right here, a little demo, maybe someday. Uh, but, uh, yeah, it was a a great season. Uh, Mr. Wig touched upon, uh, a lot of the, uh, the highlights of the season. Um, you know, just

one of the things that uh I want to just add on to that is uh we won uh Mr. Whit mentioned uh the the dual meet the individual county tournament and uh was looking over all the years at the D2 terms going on and we had the uh we set the record for the highest most amount of points scored in the division 2 uh individual tournament. So uh that was exciting. And then uh we had seven uh wrestlers qualify for the state tournament and that was the most in New York State. So, uh that was a awesome accomplishment also. Uh and uh we had five individual county champions. Uh and uh I think they're all here. Uh I'll give them a little shout out right now. Uh Colton Friedman, uh two-time county champion now. Uh

Joel Diaz was a county champion and also all state. Uh so, uh great job there. Brendan Fox, county champion, two-time also for him. Uh, became Secret's first three-time county champion. And, uh, Mr. W. I mentioned Brock Conway is county champion, all state and division 2 uh, county Nassau County wrestler of the year. So, uh, in addition to those five, Jake Wilhelm and Tom also qualified for the state tournament. So, uh I just want to uh mention Mr. Whit mentioned uh not only do we get it done on the on the mat but in the classroom also. We named the scholar athlete team. So, uh that's a great accomplishment also. Uh you know, pressing the demand in sport for this. So for them to compete at this level and to also uh keep it up in

the classroom is uh just shows the amount of uh dedication and the amount of uh you know just discipline that they have throughout the season. So really proud of the guys. So great job. Um uh I want to just uh give a few thank yous. Uh thank you to our awesome athletic director, Mr. Whit. Uh thank you to the the board and the administration for all of your support. Uh see many of them at our wrestling matches and it means so much and often get uh just emails from uh from a lot of them of encouragement uh throughout the season. They follow along with what's going on with our team. So uh so thank you for that. Uh and we always appreciate your support. We have uh one of the nicest uh practice facilities on

all of Long Island. So we are very thankful for that. Uh to have just beautiful I mean think goes around the athletic fields and the uh the grounds that we have is really incredible. Uh and I was a receiver graduate class of 96. But uh since then uh the school looks so much different and so much uh so much nicer than what it did back uh in 30 years ago now. By the way, my high school math teacher right over there, Mr. O'Reilly math teacher and I credit him with giving me the love of math and to uh to go into the teaching math. Uh so thank you Mr. O'Reilly. Uh all right uh I think at this point uh we will uh oh just want to mention we uh as being dual meet champions

we got to go to Syracuse and the dual meet championships and uh go to Albany. So, it was uh great to just take those uh trips with the team and uh you know, many of our wrestlers will be able to compete in three uh overnight uh tournaments and uh that's always exciting to do some traveling and and see teams from all around the state. So, uh overall a great season and as Mr. Whit mentioned, the future is bright. We got a lot of great kids returning and uh we'll certainly miss the seniors, but uh we're excited for what's to come. So, uh, at this point, we'll just, uh, I think we'll call up each of the members of the team, uh, have a certificate and, uh, maybe take a, a good picture. stage. >> Uh,

so not all of them are here, but I'll call out all the names and uh, those that are here come pick up. Uh, I know Jackson, I know he wasn't able to make it tonight. >> Jack Carol, >> Brock Conway, you can save your pull at the end. >> Guys, come up stage. >> Yeah, come on up. >> Come on up. >> Don Oil. Jeff Dunes, >> Mason Divera, Joel Diaz, >> Brendan Fox, Liam Fox, >> James Frank, Yes. >> Hold the Freeman. Conor Hanley, >> Anthony Judge, >> Mike Lynch, >> Joe Lynch, Adon Malik, Joe Martino, Nick Mioli, Aiden McNamera, Tom Miranda, >> Anthony Matunda, Brandon Morris, Conor Murphy, Paul Rayundi, Carmelo Ricabono, >> John Sabone, Dylan Lefanni, Quinn Schweiser, >> Jack Sher, Brandon Seagull, all county musician and wrestler by the way. Uh,

Yanni Thomas, Max went, Jake Wilhelm, Anthony Zenazi, >> afterwards. >> It's probably, but I think we got it. >> All right, guys. Take a group shot. rows row. Second row, squeeze in a little bit, guys. One, two, three. Thank you. Congratulations. Okay, thank you. Relax. Okay. But last but certainly not least is Miss Nezro's presentation on the budget adoption. Thank you, Dr. And uh good evening, board of education. Uh tonight is an exciting night. Uh what we have presented for you is the 2026 2027 proposed budget for adoption. So the budget uh stands at the 86,32,965 for 2026 2027 with a 1.42% budgettobudget increase and a projected tax levy increase of the 2.26. Again, as shared in prior presentations, our tax levy limit percentage is at the maximum at the 2.26%. It is the second

lowest in the last eight years and the lowest in the last five. And as I always say, the our um residents vote on the tax levy increase, not their tax rate as that's dictated by the county assessments and uh within our boundaries. So here uh also is a comparative analysis of the proposed revenues against the adopted 2025 2026 budget. Um the uh you'll see at the top there the um state aid is at the executive budget. Since our legislative budget is in a twoe extender, we don't have um a legislative budget. But uh we receive a subsequent notification from New York State Education Department that our foundation aid was being lowered and that is reflected in the number that you see here. Um, and there is a uh we're receiving less state aid than in

the prior year. That's predominantly due to the loss of building aid. And then of course this the largest uh revenue source is our tax levy uh on our residents but it takes all of these revenues in order to support the programs that we provide to our students. The expenditure side also stands at 86,32,965 and the budgettobudget increases 1.42%. 42%. These are the major categories of our expenditures. They are fairly um understandable. Uh however, in within general support, that's where we have most of our administrative costs, our insuranceances, all of our auditors, um internal external claims, we have our legal expenses, uh and uh a lot of our all of our facilities. The instruction is uh the largest piece of that which understandable. That's the reason why we're here. Um transportation, that's for our transporting all

of our students, uh including summer to and from school, all of our parochial schools. That's the estimate there. Community service is our bookroom, uh for our parochial students, and that supports that. Employee benefits are all the benefits for all of our employees. The debt service is just the interest on our short-term borrowings, which are TANS we utilize a debt service fund. So the expenses related to our long-term borrowings for principal and interest are part of our interfund transfer amount uh which is presented at the bottom. A piece of that also is to our capital fund which supports those pro those projects that we are proposing for the next budget year um funded through the general fund budget and that is at 920,000. It's for three projects that we have shared. Uh middle school bathroom renovations

next to our cafeteria across from our gymnasium, the middle school gym windows as well as a high school exterior classroom access. And again the difference between the total interfund transfer of our capital projects is the 1 million 390 250 which is for our debt service. This is another picture of what our we are proposing for the middle school bathrooms. It's going to look similar to uh the harbor bathroom renovation that took place um part of the last year's budget. the middle school gym windows. This will complete a major renovation that we had in our middle school gym. Uh this is uh to protect that which we've done. Um I've shared in the past there's some leakage in those windows. So we're uh anxious to get that rectified. And this is an exciting project here. it

um is uh a I guess an enhancement to what we already have in our 2526 budget which was to address drainage. This is now to um uh add an access way to outdoor classroom space. Uh so that will be a wonderful project when completed. I thought it would be important to also update uh the board on what the status of our 2025 2026 transfer to capital was that encompassed the projects that we have listed here. It was uh the first one was um the manner playground in inclusive playground with the turf replacement that is done um it was completed. However, we have not had an official ribbon cutting due to the the winter that we had. So, uh we're looking forward to that. Um also in our middle school, we had a renovation of our

CDP classroom which was completed prior to the start of school along with a major renovation to the middle school library that came out beautifully. Um and then also uh the second cafeteria within our high school, cafeteria B after Cafeteria A had been done. That also was completed um prior to the start of school. And uh the one project still remaining, but that will be completed at the beginning of this summer is a dust collection system uh for replacing that within our wood shop of the high school. The expenditures for our transportation, this is presented here for two reasons. Um it is the 27 budget has the second year of an RFP that was done for the um 2526 year. So uh for full disclosure, this is um a contract for our regular transportation to and

from and summer that is um in the second year of a renewal. We have up to it's a fiveyear renewal. These are the years that will complete that contract. And uh I just make a note that approval of this budget also constitutes approval of that 5-year renewal. Um it is at CPI. Uh what has been projected for 20 26 2027 is 6% for CPI. And with the adoption of the budget by the board of education, we are also required to file our property tax report card. This is a snapshot of what that is. That is filed through the state aid management system uh and will be filed tomorrow um after adoption of the budget uh after resolution. There's a second resolution on this evening's agenda to have the property tax report card accepted as well.

And what that really tells us is the budget for both years, prior and uh the current year and then also proposed for next year along with our tax levy, the percentages and also what we anticipate our total fund balance being and our reserves and what we have um anticipated using in the 2026 2027 year for our reserves. There are two reserves being um proposed and that's our um AR employee benefit acrewed liability and um also uh which is the other one I'm sorry can't read that uh I think it is the not the the ERS reserve um so that will be filed after this evening uh the district is required to also show a threepart component budget that is broken out between the categories of administrative program and capital. Now this is not how we

manage the budget but it's just a reallocation to the different the three components of how our budget is still uh sums to the same 86 u32965. Uh the administrative costs are um those pretty much administrative uh it includes Boseies. The program is everything to do with our instructional and then capital is our buildings and grounds. Our facility costs along with our debt service payments. Uh the employee benefits associated with each of the staff within those three components are also allocated to those components. And there's a pie chart that shows the the breakdown of what that is. So, what happens if the budget should fail? Um, this the district the board of ed would either adopt a contingency budget right away or they may go out to a revote and the revote date is again another

statewide date of June 16, 2026. And the ramifications of that would be that we would need to reduce the current proposed budget that is being presented to you this evening by 1,450,843. And um that would there are certain programs that might not be able to happen. And we also um that is the difference is our the difference in our tax levy. We would have to revert back to the tax levy of 2526 and also we would have to from our revenues 60,000 which we have uh estimated for the use of our facilities as we would not be able to do that and on the ballot we again have had our library our Seafford public library join our budget vote so our proposition number one is the district school budget vote proposition two is the library

budget vote and what we have on the ballots are our two open spots for our of education trustees and there is one uh trustee on the library that is uh up for um election and here are the remaining dates as we come to the we're narrowing down on our budget process. April 28th is the Bosey's budget vote. um districts in Nassau County must uh vote on the Bose Nassau County BOSIES budget. And in April and May, we will be presenting this budget to our PTA groups. Uh I think first is PTSA and then we have our two uh elementary PTAs in a joint meeting. And on May 6th, we will have a budget hearing. And May 19th is the statewide budget vote and uh board annual board of election. And just to reiterate, the same

locations um the Harbor Elementary School and the Manor Elementary School. And the hours are between 7 and 9 p.m. 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. There'll be more information shared at the next meeting with regard to um how people may register and and all of that. So, uh I will share that again and thank you for your support. It's great to be here in Seafford and experiencing all the wonderful programs and the outcomes of that with our uh athletes, our you know academics and and also um our arts. So, >> Thank you so much. >> Are there any questions? Okay, going to move on to some business. We'll do the items in five together if that's okay. Need a motion for agenda item 5 A through E2. >> Move it. Any discussion? All in favor? >>

I. >> Okay. This is our resident comments section. Anybody like to speak? Okay. Um, all correspondence received from the board has been responded to. Um, I need a motion for agenda item 81. >> Move it. >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? I >> need a motion for agenda item 8 B1. >> Move it. Any discussion? All in favor?
