Mhm. >> Mhm. >> Good evening, everybody. Good evening. We're going to get started. Everyone, please rise and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you, everyone, for joining us. We are looking forward to celebrating our student athletes this evening. Uh, but first, we're going to start with our student board member report from Matt Kind. Good evening. So, with spring sports fully in stride already, Seaford student athletes are having a blast and staying active. I'm not sure if this is on. No. That's all right. So, I see we have the bowling team and the cheer team here today, so that's great. Hello. So, this

past Wednesday, Seaford High School hosted their College and Beyond Fair, which was a great opportunity every year for all the students and parents. Uh this past Saturday was Seaford High School's Junior Formal. So, we hope everyone had a great fun and safe night. It's always such a wonderful evening for all of the juniors and their dates. So, we hope everyone had a great time, and this year's theme was an Enchanted Garden, so that's exciting. And then the following day, this past Sunday, was Seaford's first ever Brunch and Bingo Bash, which was an an initiative spearheaded by the National Honor Society, and it was an event to bring all of our senior citizens here together to reconnect and spend time. So, that was an incredible opportunity for everyone here in Seaford as well. And lastly, the

Seaford Booster Club's annual golf outing will be held on June 7th this year. So, make sure you purchase a ticket and attend this wonderful event. So, that wraps up my student report for today, and I hope you all have a great evening. Thank you, Matt. Thanks, Matt. Another Another great report. Thank you very much. So, just a couple of announcements before we begin our celebration. So, I just wanted to mention that last week we had a wonderful celebration at the American Legion recognizing teachers of the year. So, at Harbor, Mr. Delco was recognized. At the Manor, it was Ms. Hawk. And then middle school, Mr. Cohen. And then at the high school, Ms. Barkus and Ms. Barkus. I would also like to address that on Monday night, we also had a nice celebratory event where

we had the SCOPE Awards. So, um our our wonderful district clerk was to receive an award, but unfortunately could not be there. So, we're going to recreate it for you here at Harmon, okay? So, um there's there's a a little booklet that you're going to get. So, I'm going to read what was written about you. So, and and one of the things that my father used to say, which I it's one of these catchphrases that I hold near and dear to my heart, is that people can be replaced, but not all people are replaceable. And you're one of those people. So, um Ms. Carmen Ellett has long served as the custodian of policies that have shaped the Sachem schools, earning her reputation as the district resident historian. Her institutional knowledge and unwavering commitment have been

invaluable in supporting Boards of Education and Central Office administrators for nearly 30 years. After retiring from her roles as administrative assistant and district clerk, her decision to re-serve her decision to return to serve once again as district clerk reflects a remarkable dedication to the district she knows so well. For more than three decades, Carmen has demonstrated exceptional professionalism and loyalty. She approaches her work with care, precision, and a deep sense of responsibility. Ms. Ellett's tireless work ethic and her institutional leadership make her truly deserving of this award. So, Carmen, if you'll come up, we'll give you your award. Well, that really does perfectly encapsulate you, Carmen, but we just wanted to say on behalf of the board how happy we are and how grateful we are that you decided to stay on as our district

clerk. Not only are you kind and wonderful to work with, but you have institutional knowledge that is so invaluable to us as a board, and we really do appreciate all the ways in which you support this board. So, thank you. Thanks, Carmen. Okay, so um there were two other spoke awardees, and they weren't able to attend the ceremony, so we do not have plaques tonight, but I but I would like to mention them. So, um the next person is our one and only board president, Lisa Gerhardt. So, again, what was written about Lisa Gerhardt was, "Ms. Lisa Gerhardt has selflessly served as the Board of Education as served the Board of Education for the last 4 years, including the last 3 years as board president. With unwavering dedication to students in our community, she consistently

places children at the center of every decision and is fiercely committed to enhancing educational opportunities for all Secor scholars. Being an attorney by profession as well as a mother, Lisa brings a unique and thoughtful perspective to board leadership. Her analytical approach supports sound, reasonable decision-making while ensuring policies align with the district's mission. She is principal, respected She's a principal to respected voice in complex discussions and a trusted leader. A champion for students, Ms. Herbert models resilience, accountability, and service. She is the quintessential Viking. So, no plaque for you, but we do have flowers. Okay. And lastly, there's been celebration of this third person. This is one of our finest teachers in the Secor School District. So, the SCOPE awardee this year was Ms. Tina Weir from the middle school. And again, just indulge me in

just reading what was written about her. As a special education teacher, leader, and colleague, and role model, Tina Weir is exceptional. She's an advocate for her students and works tirelessly to support their academic success and social emotional well-being. Ms. Weir also supports her colleagues in her capacity as a new teacher mentor and a building union representative. She's a source of advice and comfort for others and provides meaningful feedback, insight, and perspective that supports teachers in their development and drives the mission and vision of the Secor Middle School and district as a whole. Any student who is lucky enough to spend time with Tina benefits from it and has more meaningful school experiences as a result. Congratulations to Tina Weir on her selection as a 2020 Secor SCOPE awardee. So, if you see Ms. Weir, please

tell her, "Congratulations." We had a really nice time celebrating her on Monday night. So, um congratulations to all three awardees. Now, we are also here to celebrate two incredible athletic teams. So, Nassau County championships in boys bowling and in cheer. So, I I learned just the other day that the boys bowling team came in second in the states and it was such a close competition that it was just really missed by three pins, which is absolute 10 pins. Three pins is what I said. Three pins is what I said. I swear I said the same thing as you. I swear I did. Did you did, right? Okay. Um So, I'm going to invite the three-pin man, Mr. Kevin Wedd, up to the microphone to introduce the coaches and the teams. Good evening, everybody. I just

want to thank the Board of Education. Um it's always a pleasure recognizing these wonderful student athletes and uh to do it here uh publicly is always special. So, thanks again. Uh Coach Anastasio, he's uh he's great uh for a lot of reasons and we're going to get into that. But, is uh is Scott Donovan here? Not tonight. Okay, so just a quick shout-out to Scott Donovan. He's a volunteer coach and he's been a volunteer since the program started and he is wonderful. He is super knowledgeable, great with the kids, and we really, really are dependent on him. So, I know he's not here, but special shout-out. Um and then this gentleman here, he's been coaching here now for 5 years. Um what has he done? He's won five consecutive Nassau County championships. Um these kids

are spectacular. So, just a quick round of applause there. So, we've been recognizing our athletes or excuse me, our county championship teams for about 5 years now. So, this evening to me, when Shire is here and Bowling is here, it's just like Groundhog Day. It's just like, you know, we make board presentations. It's just understood that this time of the year, we're going to recognize you. So, keep up the good work there. But five county championships in a row, uh the bowling team here in Seaford, the boys bowling team has won nine consecutive county championships. And I just want to give a shout-out to the girls. I know they're not here, but these two teams are, um you know, one of the same. They they they rally behind each other. It's like a brother and

sister. Um they're they're really really super close. They compete in practice on the same days. Um and they completely turned over their team. And with that, they finished in second place in the county. So, that's just a quick little shout-out to them. Um but this guy behind me, a lot of people who don't really bowl often or don't really know too much about bowling, and I'll I'll admit I'm one of those. Um you know, you just think you go up there and you just try to bowl it straight or you know, get as many pins down. And yeah, sure, that's the objective, but what he knows about bowling is what, you know, uh a pitching coach would tell his pitcher, what a hitting coach would tell their batter. It's unbelievable. The feedback, the the knowledge

is it's so impressive. His relationships, when you see him come into the room tonight and all the kids are just congregating around him, it's it's really special. It's always like that. Um Um bowling's just kind of a different sport, meaning, you know, you go to the bowling alley, whether it's practice or a match, everyone's Everyone's having a blast, you know, and and they do it with a smile on their faces mostly because they just know they're going to dominate the competition. Um so, just kind of a recap on the season and I'm I apologize in advance if I steal any of your thunder tonight, but um their record Well, I'll start with this. They were a scholar athlete team, right? We all know what that is now. Um They had a record of 129 and

0143. They were conference champions and of course, like we said, county champions. Now, going up to the states 2 years in a row, just to kind of give you an idea of what we're talking about as far as finishing in second s- you can't even explain like I I wouldn't be able to give you another sport, you know, to compare it to. Um when the two finishing in second this year by 10 pins and the year before by 3 pins, where both the first and second place team are basically totaling about 6,000 points. So, now we're talking, you know, it's it's so close and uh a lot of these kids out here are seniors and we're going to miss them cuz they had phenomenal careers, but um I know he's going to just, you know,

bring back kids next year just like the girls and repeat. So, again, congratulations. That's enough from me, but uh I appreciate you so much. Well, the girls aren't here anyway, but let's give them a shout out. They were first-time bowlers. Never bowled. One of them bowled. And for them to learn how to pick up a bowling ball not hitting the gutters or not hitting the bumpers. And actually threw curve balls, and they they could they should have won, but the team we played had a better day than we had, and but second place in the counties, first time bowling, it's not bad. 49 teams in the county, that's good. Pretty good. Um as for the boys, the boys had a phenomenal year. By far one of my best teams by of all during the league.

Um you can match them up against any other team of my 5 years. You would think on paper they're all the same, but these guys' averages this year just blew it away. But to make this team special, we went to the counties, we went to the states with a whole completely different, if anyone knows what oil is, it's compared to a easy shot compared to a hard shot. These guys had to learn a brand new shot, and it took us The counties was a little easier because every other team had to learn it as well, but we went to the states, we had 9 weeks to learn how to throw on this pattern, and they came out we were down 167 pins going into game two. So if you look at that, that's a lot

of pins down thinking we have five more games to go, and how well can this first place team do against what we're going to do? But we fought back, we came back in the fourth game, 119 pins we're down 52, came back 10 pins to 42, going to game six. If it was six versus six, which is only five versus five, we take out our last scores, we would have dominated that team, but our sixth bowler blew away their sixth bowler, so congrats on your six-man team, we would have won. But second place in the counties, I think last year I said there was 750 teams in New York State. So going from that to second, great job. The other thing is I'm going to say is uh You don't know this, but all trophies

come unnamed. So we got our trophies this year finally. I went to the store and now you guys can have your names on the trophy and say this trophy means something to all of you same as the counties in the state. So, all of you guys names are on here. Danny Walsh Danny, just you know, Danny got all county bowlers 200 average or better. Danny was one of them and finished with I think a 211. What'd you finish with? 212 average went to states and finished 13th in New York state. Michael Scirocco Michael is our youngest bowler on the team. He bowls with us this year on the JV team. He came to counties and the states with us to feel what it's like to be on a varsity team. I see you're going to

take leadership next year. With along with the other two attorneys. Matthew Ryder he's greater again. Danny you're in ninth grade next year. Going to start on varsity bowling team. Ryan Carmen Ryan was our three year bowling captain. He was captain for three years now as well as congratulate him on eighth grade honors number two. He was a salutatorian. Good job. Nice job. Ryan Ryan Walter, three years ago he started with us. I don't know if he was able to play with us because he was just running around, but somehow in those three years I think he was MVP twice out of our last state state championship teams. Brendan Daly. Brendan, 10th grader this year, good job. One high high one year. 80s, 190 bowler, right? 192? 192, not bad. These averages are all incredible. You

go to any bowling league and you watch your averages, you got to go to those bowling 140s. So, these guys are bowling 185s and higher continuously, so Wow. Andrew White, five-time Andrew bowled on my team five years in a row. Started as a fifth grader. Sixth grade, he's uh been number one in the counties. He's this year he finished number eight this state. 211 average. I mean, it's like 226 average this year. And Cooper, ninth grader, going to be a leader next year. Going to be 10th grader. Came out this year, state champ. Bowled bowled amazingly. Conquered the lanes, great job. And uh we're good. Parents, if you want to come up with me as I take a picture, you can come up. All right, let's get in the camera. What we get her, what's

that? I'm grade one. >> So for our athletes, just so you know, tonight is about a 2 and 1/2 hour evening, so just get comfortable. We're We're now going to recognize our wonderful cheerleaders, um but if the bowling team could just hang out a little while and then uh you'll be dismissed soon, okay? All right, so uh coaches, you mind coming up here? Coach Mahoney, Coach Shadow, Coach Martin. All right, so I'm going to do this one a little differently. I'm just going to jump in to the success right away. All right, um again, another scholar-athlete team, uh first uh first place in the traditional as as you know, it's the the fall season is game day, the winter season is traditional, so they were first place during the regular season. Okay, Nassau County champions

and third place at the states. Okay, so that is incredible. So what when you really look into it, what's incredible is there's three athletes that were on the team this year that really had, you know, experience last year and had, you know, they were on the mat. Whereas everybody else that was out there was basically brand new to varsity cheer, which is you know, that's exceptional. Everybody knows how hard you work. It's cheer, I always say it's just different. Um it's basically year round. The commitment, the dedication is amazing and you know, you're just relentless. They went through They had so much adversity this year. I don't even I was debating whether or not I was going to talk about the state's trip, but I am blessed to have these coaches. Just let me tell

you there was a All right, might as well just go into it. Um So we pulled up the the the bus company pulled up and I I whispered to Brenda. I said, you know, there's there's a new law, new mandate. We got to make sure everyone's got seat belts on. Yeah, no problem. So we have a nice bagel breakfast by the booster club and she gives me a call literally just before the driver puts it in drive and she said there's no seat belts. And I'll be honest, I'm I'm listening and I'm like, Brenda, they're probably under the seat. And I go, "Did you check under the seat?" She was like, "Yes, there's no seat belts." I go, "All right, let me see about this." I run outside, couple of phone calls later and the

girls are off the bus and waiting around for a couple of hours very patiently, I must say. And then we get a bus and we have a nice ride up and then we go to a hotel and it wasn't really the cleanest place. I'll leave it at that. But you guys just stuck together and just figured it out and that's what it is. It's overcoming obstacles, overcoming adversity, and you were led by these three behind me and coach Al Barry, who's not here this evening. And you guys remained poised, calm, making great decisions. We were in contact throughout the entire evening. So, it was very stressful, I know, but you like I said, it was just so many different things you guys, you know, battled through this year. Obviously, new coaching staff. Um It was

It was on my mind a lot knowing that you know, coach Ferrari was stepping away and this was a big one because, you know, this is you know, C for cheer, that's you know, one of the best in the Long Long Island. And I knew I had to hire the right people. And I'm very fortunate that everyone returned and this this program is in great shape because of all them and the work that they put forth. So, I couldn't be happier to have you and um without further ado, I'm going to pull up coach Martin. But, congratulations, girls. Good evening, everyone. On behalf of the coaching staff and I, we just wanted to take a few moments to acknowledge this team as the season has meant a lot to us. From the very beginning, this

group showed up as something special. They showed up every single day starting in the off season ready to work hard and give us their best. They were determined to make this an unforgettable and amazing season and that is exactly what they did. With only three athletes who were on the mat last year, most people would have considered it a rebuilding year, but we knew that that would not be the case. We had multiple athletes step up to learn new positions and the growth they have shown throughout the season has been incredible. We faced obstacles and there are definitely moments that could have stopped them, but that's not who they are. They made the choice over and over again to keep going, to work harder, to stay positive, and to believe in themselves and each other.

Watching them grow into a team who supported and encouraged one another was so special. Through their trust, resilience, and hard work, they put on an incredible difficulty routine and hit super elite stunts and tumbling skills that led them to win a Nassau County championship. We watched them perform skills that no other team was doing and continued to push the limits for cheer. That title was earned through long practices, tough days, and a commitment to getting better every single time they stepped out on that mat. We then had the opportunity to compete at the New York State Championship where we placed third in Class C. Although it was a wild ride to get there as Mr. Witt just explained, they once again showed their maturity and commitment to one another by continuing to be flexible and

overcome whatever came their way. What we all will remember most are those two incredible tour performances at the State Championship. They walked out there with confidence, pride, each other, and they left it all on the mat for one last time. They hit two beautiful routines while keeping the difficulty of stunts in that they pushed so hard for it. In that moment when the music ended and they were filled with nothing but pride, it was all worth it. And we know that they will carry that feeling with them forever. Personally, this team reminded us why we love coaching. They supported each other and they never let anything define them except their effort and their heart. The lessons that they learned this season about resilience, teamwork, and believing in themselves are going to take them far beyond

this program. They all have left an incredible legacy on the program this year and have continued to make this community proud. There is no one who works harder and we truly couldn't be more proud of them. We hope you always remember we got us and you can do anything you set your mind to. Congratulations on an incredible season. Maria Barbieri Gianna DiSalvo Sydney IS AN LO. MORGAN DESILVA JULIA DIPIETRO AMELIA ELIAS GABRIELLA Kuffel Christina DeLucia Kayla Martel Alexandra Monopoli Francesca Pasquale Maria Panetta Kelsey Greif Brianna Segodi and Victoria Zammit. You guys can go back. Say Andre, 1 2 3 >> Okay, so as always um we're we're so proud of our athletes, but we realize especially since both of you are scholar athlete teams that um you may have other things to do tonight, so

we'll give you a minute or two. You're more than welcome to stay for the fabulous budget presentation by Ms. Mezzarol, but if you'd like to go home, well we'll give you a minute or two um for families to organize and exit for the night. >> That's a hard act to follow, but good evening everyone. This evening I am pleased to present to you the 2026 2026 2027 budget of anticipated revenues and expenditures. At the last board meeting, we learned of all of the robust programs we have planned for our students. And tonight, I will show you how we have crafted a balanced budget of next year's revenues and expenditures. Our budget is developed with the most up-to-date information that we have at the time. The administration puts into numbers the instructional vision we have for

our district. I thought it would be helpful just to share what the budget cycle actually looks like. The process begins almost immediately after we have an adopted budget. We start in the fall engaging our administrators with meaningful discussions about what we would like to see in the next year's budget for all of our different departments. These initial discussions are all the enhancements that we want to implement for our students. And as is depicted in this diagram, right now we are between the budget formulation and the budget approval. So, um we at our next board meeting, uh we will have a presentation for our Board of Education to adopt our 2026-2027 budget. But, uh after it is adopted, come the start of our next fiscal year, July 1, it's executed. And that is what we manage

for the entire year until the process starts again. So, here for you, the total budget for 2026-2027 stands at 86,302,965. It is a budget-to-budget increase, which is probably among the lowest in many years. Uh 1,210,214 at a 1.42% increase. The projected tax levy increase, which I've shared in prior presentations, is the maximum tax levy allowance of 2.26% and that amount is 1,390,943. Here again, I think it's important to show our allowable tax levy. It calculated at a maximum of 2.26% and that is where we stand with that levy. Um this is the increase to our tax levy. This is not the tax rate increase, which is set by the assessor's office based upon the assessments within our district's boundaries. So here is the first look of our total revenues. Um as you can see, the

it's a comparative look between what is our adopted budget, what we've been working through for the 2025-2026 year compared to what is being proposed for 2026-2027. Uh at the top is our second largest revenue source, which is our state aid. Um and as you can see from this chart here, uh it is less than our 2025-2026 adopted um budget. Um the legislative budget does not come out till usually the first week um in April when the state's new budget year starts April 1. This is the state aid based on the executive budget, although I will explain that it has been altered slightly in another slide. I'll get into that a little bit. Uh and then we have other revenues, which is comprised of interest on our investments, our tuition billings, our health service billings to

other districts, um and these are estimates that are very conservative um and they are somewhat out of our control, uh but they are based on our best estimates at the time. We have after that our PILOTs. That is our payment in lieu of taxes, and there are two um agreements that we have here in Seaford. The first being with LIPA, which is a state entity, and the second being with Neptune RTS LLC, which is a public corporation. Toward the bottom of the page, we have uh delineated our appropriation of reserves and our appropriated fund balance. Uh we have just really pretty much reclassified where we're pulling from these reserves um to preserve, we estimate them, we project so that we know what we are using so that we are able to uh maintain these and

strategically appropriate them as necessary. At the bottom, of course, is our largest revenue source, which is our estimated tax levy based on the maximum tax cap levy amount. So, as I had said, uh the executive budget had come out in um January, and we were provided within that budget for foundation aid of a 5.94% increase. Uh the executive budget said they were going to guarantee at least 1% to districts. So, we felt very comfortable at that. However, uh Dr. Pecora had received um a notification that that amount was being adjusted. So, um we went back to the drawing board and we reduced it based upon they you know, they they said based on the foundation aid that was provided, the amount is going to be more than 1% less. Fortunately, we um are not down

to 1%, but um it is a 3.76 increase now to our foundation aid. Um and we had to remove 213,815 from the executive budget. So, if one was to go to the state website and look under there and see what those amounts were, it it is now different. Um So, uh the other thing I wanted to point out is with regard to our state aid, we have seen a dramatic decrease in our building aid, which um is the result of the projects that were done over a span of 15, 20, and 30 years based upon amortizations. So, uh the amortizations of some of those older projects have already been uh exhausted and now we are dealing with a smaller building aid amount. Next is uh interest earned on our depositories. We are very aggressive in

terms of how we might be uh with our with the funds and we invest in night class, but uh again, we try to anticipate what those interest earnings may be on our deposits. And they are based on financial markets and and what the Federal Reserve sets, but we have conservatively approached those interest earnings. But again, monitor this and move money. Um The our treasurer, Mr. Steve Wernau, who is in our audience, he works at monitoring these funds and moves the money as necessary to maximize those revenues. So, here is a deeper dive into what comprises the state aid compared with a comparison of the actual amounts from 2025-2026. And here again, you can see where the foundation aid went up, um but how we had to absorb the decrease in our building aid. So, overall,

that is why we are looking at you know, a little less aid uh for some of those items. The expense-driven aids are BOCES aid, excess cost aid, software, textbook. All of that is based upon what our actual expenditures are and how that generates aid for us. What is excluded from this chart is our UPK funds. It's not that we're not running a UPK program cuz we are. We have four community-based organizations that allow us to run those classes and then get UPK aid. However, that aid is recorded in our special aid fund. It is not part of our general operating fund. So, that is why that is excluded from the presentation here. But, we are running it and we are getting universal pre-K money. So, it wouldn't be a balanced budget unless we also show

the expenditure side. So, for the great reveal, um here are our expenditures again at the 86,302,965. And we have this broken down by the categories that are recognized uh by the state education department. Just as a further detail, our general support is comprised of support services and uh expenditures related to our facilities uh in general. Our instruction, which is no surprise, is the reason why we're all here, and that is the largest portion of our budget. And that has to do with all of our instructional programs, including extracurricular activities. Since we service students uh and and it make and provide meaningful and appropriate instruction, this is the largest amount and uh the focus of our budget. Transportation are the costs for all of our contract vendors. Uh we do have We are in the second

year for 2026-2027 of a 5-year RFP. Um and this is based on um CPI for 2026-2027, that amount with our largest vendor, Educational Bus Transportation, is at 6%. So, that is a process that took paid place a year ago. Our community services are our books for our parochial schools that we have our students attending parochial schools, and that is um the expenses related to that. Next, we have employee benefits, and those are all of our health insurances, uh workers' compensation, unemployment, life insurance, and our two major retirement systems, the first being Employees' Retirement System, and the second for the Teachers' retirement system. Our uh non-certificated and certificated employees. Our debt service, because we use a debt service fund, this amount of expenditure is just on our short-term borrowings. Annually, we go out for a tax

anticipation note, and that is the interest that we pay on the TANs, as they're known. Interfund transfers are the transfers that are sent to our debt service fund for our principal and interest on our existing bonds and our energy performance contracts, and as well as the transfer that we make to our capital fund for the projects that we anticipate providing for in the 2026-2027 year. And there again, the budget-to-budget increase is there at 1.42%. This is just a slide that is a pictorial depiction of where the the pie chart breaks it down and the percentages by the categories that I just shared with you. So, just some information on some of the major expenditures. If you take our contract salaries, all of our bargaining units, and you add to that the associated employee benefits, that's

largely 75% of our budget. Uh outside of that is our um health insurance, which this year uh largely our staff have nice ship, um and those rates for both individual and family active plans were about an 8 uh percent increase. But, for our retirees, which we provide uh health insurance for, uh Medicare under one under 65, that was a rate of 24.25%. So, that was a large increase over last year. Um, however, we do always have to anticipate because the health insurance is driven by calendar year. So, what although we may have what our rates are going to be from July through December, we have to sort of anticipate what that might be for next 2027 January 2027 through June. Um, our retirement systems, there was a a slight increase for ERS and um a

a slight decrease for TRS, which uh that was manageable within this budget. Um, our utilities and insurance premiums continue to rise. Um, this is something that is informed to even um us in our own homes. Uh, those costs have been going up. And as I had mentioned, transportation, we're in our second year of our RFP for our transportation and that in this year that is at a 6% CPI. And that contract is um good through 2029-2030. So, I've shared what our facility projects are, but again, that is part of our interfund transfer to the capital fund. And uh this is exciting because we do prioritize where we would like to focus these improvements on to maintain our facilities and infrastructure. And the first project planned is the middle school bathroom renovations. That is um next

to the cafeteria and the gym across from the gym in the middle school. And there's a picture of what was finished last summer, our harbor bathrooms, and it will have a similar look for the middle school. Next is staying in our middle school, completing the work that had been done there last summer with a beautiful new interior. We have middle school gym windows, and I had shared this, but they say a picture is worth 1,000 words. I hope I can click on this, but um I can't. And this is an actual footage of Oops, so sorry. I thought I could click on this. Yeah. So, we want to protect all the work, the beautiful work that's been done there. So, that is our second project planned for next year. Lastly, this is an extension of

a project that we had approved in the 25-26 year, but this is an access through the high school to outdoor learning space. So, it's an area that hasn't been used, but we believe will be a wonderful addition there at the high school. Prior to that, it's it's a drainage, and then also improving that outdoor space there. So, we look forward to that project. And then, our schedule of future meetings. So, the next board meeting, as I had mentioned, will be a board of education adoption budget meeting for the 2026-2027 year. Following that on April 28th, each district within Nassau County BOCES as part of that component units needs to cast a vote on the BOCES budget. So, that will take place on April 28th. Following a budget hearing on May 6th. And during the months

of April and May, towards the end of April and beginning of May, we will be conducting budget meetings for our PTA groups. So, we're excited to share specifically what is there for them. And then culminating on May 19th, the statewide Board of Elections and budget vote on May 19th. And as we have had, both locations of the Manor Elementary School and Harbor Elementary School will be used for that day between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. And I just want to thank the Board of Education who is such a great support to for our budgets and our staff. And also to the community here. It's a wonderful community and it doesn't go unnoticed and we're appreciative to to all. So, I don't know if there are any questions with anything that I've shared.

Okay. Thanks very much, Rhonda, for all your hard work. Um This is a very active season for you. We appreciate all the the time and effort you put into our project cycle. So, thank you. Okay, I'm going to move on to some business. Uh, I need a motion for agenda item 5.1. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. I need a motion for agenda items 6.1 and 2. Move it. Second. Any discussion? I. All in favor? I. I. Uh, I need a motion to add to the agenda at 6.3, the non-instructional personnel action report number two, dated March 25th, 2026. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. And then, uh, now I need a motion uh, to approve agenda item 6.3. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Yeah,

I need a motion for agenda item 7.1 and 2. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Okay, this is the resident comment section. Would anybody from the community like to speak? Sure, why not? Um, I'm just going to read this little bit right here, and then we'll give you the floor, okay? In keeping with its philosophy of open communication and informed decision making, the Board of Education welcomes input from the community. However, it is important to note that while the Board of Education meets in public, it is not a meeting of the public. Respectful input and behavior by each member of the community is appropriate and expected at all times, and should observe the following rules at Board of Education meetings. The Board will listen to comments and input from the public. Debate

between members of the audience and or Board members is inappropriate and will not be permitted. The Board is not permitted to address personnel or individual student matters in public. No person shall present orally or discuss at any board meeting charges or complaints against any individual employees directly or indirectly. The speaker shall identify themselves and confirm their residency as Seaford within the Seaford school district. The normal time limit allotted for individual speakers shall be 3 minutes. The board may, in its discretion, decrease or increase the time allotted for individual speakers. To allow for public participation, a period not to exceed 30 minutes shall be set set aside as a specific agenda item during each regular and special Board of Ed meeting. This period may be extended by a majority vote of the Board of Education. And

with that, welcome. Please state your name and confirm that you are a resident within the Seaford school district. >> is Francis Sinobio and My name is Francis Sinobio and I live on Marilyn Drive here in Seaford. I have a compliment and a little concern. Okay. My compliment is to the seniors who drive and park their car on my street cuz Marilyn is one of the few streets where you can come from Washington straight through to Seaford Avenue. So a lot of kids park there. They are quiet. They don't leave garbage. The kids when they walk home, they say hello and they they are a pleasure. And I'm saying this as a former school administrator of 35 years. So you got to give those seniors some props when you when you can. Now, how they pull

out of the parking lot sometimes, but other than that, they're great. My concern though is the security cars that drive through the neighborhood. They tend to use that street as the cross street from here to get to the high school. They speed. I was almost hit last last spring when they they blow stop signs. We have tons of kids on our street now. We have seven children within three houses of me that are under five. They don't think when they run in the street, they just go. And it's a concern like the kids are doing what they're supposed to be doing. Um and and we've had a number of neighbors we discussed we were talking about it the other day cuz now we're all going out and walking again that they don't even slow down

at the stop signs. And that street that street happens to have five or six signs going down. So maybe next time there's a security meeting just remind the drivers that they have to follow the same rules as we do. But they you know, it's a pleasure to live in the neighborhood. I've lived here for five years and the kids have been wonderful. So, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. We very much appreciate the compliment and the concern. Thank you for raising that with us um and it will be addressed. So, thank you. You're also welcome to contact my office if if you don't see an improvement. I'd just like to be informed, please. And thank you so much for the compliment. Okay, very good. Uh all board received correspondence has been

responded to. Uh new business is contracts. We'll do that together if that's okay. All right. I need a motion for agenda items 10 A1 through 11. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. And now I need a motion for agenda items 10 B1 and 2. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Need a motion for agenda item 10 C1. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Need a motion for agenda item 10 D1. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Need a motion for agenda item 10 E1. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Need a motion for agenda item 10 E2. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Okay, we are going to add back to the agenda an item that had

previously been on the agenda in November 2025. It is the revised policy 1500 for use of facilities. So, I need a motion to add to the agenda at 10 F1, revised policy 1500 use of facilities as a first read and adoption. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. And now I need a motion to approve agenda item 10 F1. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Okay, this is the miscellaneous discussion items section. I'll just quickly note that as with all budget cycles, there are open Board of Education seats. This year there are two seats that are up. If anybody has any questions or would like more information, please see our district clerk, Carmen Rulette. Um, and anything else from the miscellaneous portion? Okay. Just closing comments. Um, thank you again,

Rhonda, for your presentation. Wonderfully done. Congratulations again to our student athletes. They always make us proud and we see them every time this time of year. So, well done. Um, we received a couple of donations that we just like to extend thanks to our donors. One was Mr. Palletti, um, the assistant principal of Sycamore Middle School for his donation of a water cooler to be used in the middle school. And thank you for two DonorsChoose for donating snacks to our clubs. I'm sure our students are very much appreciative of them. Um, and also I'd like to note that this weekend is the Sycamore Middle School production of SpongeBob. Um, I think there's a I'm not getting the entire title correct, but it's like SpongeBob or some other part of the name, but anyway, it is

this weekend and it will for the first time be at Seaford High School. So, they are moving on to the big stage. So, we're excited to see that and Friday night and Saturday night. If you have not secured your tickets, I believe you can buy them at the door. So, go and support our students. It's always a great time and it's a great way to spend a couple of hours. Any Oh, and we do have another comment and I'm going to let our resident accountant and CFO handle this one. Sure. I just want to say congratulations to our district treasurer, Steve Arnone, who's here tonight, on passing all four parts of his CPA exam. No small feat. I remember when I was studying for my own, I said routinely that it ruins your life. I'm

not dating myself, but the passing rate when I was taking mine was about 30%. So, it's incredibly difficult, all encompassing. Congratulations, Steve. Yes, well done. Anything else new, different for anybody? Don, anything else? Okay. I need a motion to adjourn, please. Move it. Second. Any discussion? All in favor?
