Hey guys. You got So, we want to Good evening. >> I think we're about ready to get started. If everyone wants to rise and join me in the Pledge of >> Allegiance. To the flag of the United States of America and to the stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Hey, thank you and thanks for being here tonight. We'll begin with our student board member report back. >> Thank you. Good evening everyone. As we start the third quarter and the second semester here at Seafford, spirits are high among the students, especially after Monday's snow day, which we all enjoyed. This past week, all the juniors took the January English regents and there were many other regent exams and finals that were administered. Half your classes just wrapped up with
students taking those finals and second semester classes have just begun. So, it's a very exciting time of the year. The high school has also started a new initiative called Tips for Teens. Each week a tip is shared to the whole whole high school regarding teen life which they hope to guide everyone throughout their social lives. Seafruit's bracket leadership team has designed PSI love you day t-shirts an initiative that is very important and special to the seafood community. PSI love you day is Friday February 13th. So we encourage everyone to purchase a shirt and to promote kindness, positivity and mental health awareness. The varsity wrestling team won the Nashville County Championship. A huge accomplishment. Yeah. So, a huge accomplishment that should be celebrated. However, the job's not finished and they're going up to Syracuse this week
for the New York State Championship. So, good luck to them. And then the varsity cheer team, they also leave for nationals. They just left this afternoon, so good luck to them. Let's hope they bring home the national title as well. And then on an totally unbiased note, the varsity football team is here. So they're getting recognized for an incredible season taking down an undefeated thing in the county championship. So congrats to all of them. That wraps all my for today. So thank you and have a great evening. Okay, thank you Matt. Got a great audience for your report here. That's very nice to see. And now Dr. Pakora will give us our administrative report. >> Okay, so we have two major presentations today and as Matt said, we're recognizing our our wonderful varsity football team.
So before we do that, I just wanted to point out to Board of Education that we have several individuals retiring from our school system. So, uh, you know, we always celebrate them in in full force in June, but I did want to say a couple of words about each of them, just small tidbits, um, as they as they retire, uh, because each of them has contributed so much to the school district. So, first is Mara Coblin. Uh, she's been an elementary teacher here since 1988. She's taught kindergarten, a multi-age program, grade one and grade three. She also was a student council adviser for a while. As everybody knows, she was the vice president of UTS for several years. I've had a different relationship working with her in that regard. And um one of the things
about Mora is she's always held in high regard our profession and making sure that we have people that are here to 100% serve our children and make sure that good instruction is taking place within the classroom, excellent instruction is take place. So Mora will be very very much missed and she's also a secret resident. So I'm sure we'll see her out. So congratulations to Mora. Uh, next, Moren Dolan. Uh, she teacher at our middle school. She was hired in and she's been a middle school sixth grade teacher teaching ELA and social studies. She's worked our summer program. She has student council of co-advisors and she's done that for a while and she does that with particular flare. There's a there's a definite commitment. Um, she's a very kind, loving, warm person. She will definitely be
missed and there's a lot more that's going to be said about you in June. Uh next we have Mr. Maniscalo who's a biology teacher. He was at the high school. Now he's at um Seafford Middle School. He was a Renaissance advisor. Um he was he's taught biology prep classes. A lot of people know him because he's coordinator for driver's ed. So anybody that wants to drive goes through Mr. Maniscal. So again we wish him the best in retirement. Um next we have Ana Mukia >> Mur McCart uh I apologize. She is honestly one of the kindest nicest people that I've had the good fortune of of knowing. Whenever you see her in the halls she's incredibly um just happy to see you. I mean, she's really a remarkable person that way. She's been an EL
ENL teacher with us at the Manor and the Harbor since 2004. And then last but not least, certainly not least, is Andrea Caner. So, Andrea Caner is one of our school psychologists, but she's so much more than that. Um, she runs our preschool CSC meetings. She is an incredible diagnostician. She is an amazing human being. And um She's just done a tremendous amount to serve the district. She'll be a tremendous loss um because her skill set is just so profoundly good. Um but we wish her the best in and she's an amazing marathon runner, too. She's she's run several marathons. So, we wish her the best. Uh ultimately, I think she wants to in the winter be able to get out and run before it's dark out. So, uh, we wish everybody the best and
we have an incredible celebration for them in >> Okay, next I'm going to introduce um our vice president, Miss Muldoing today with last names. Um, and you're going to introduce the football players. >> Yes. Thank you, Dr. Pakora. So tonight we are celebrating our varsity football team as Matt already mentioned. So first I want to congratulate all of you players, coaches, parents too because we know you contribute on an incredible season. Watching the playoff run and especially that championship win against plane edge was really special. Um your perseverance and grit were inspiring to our entire Viking community and I hope you are all as proud of yourselves as we are of you. And now I will uh read some remarks prepared by our board president, Lisa Herbert, who could not be here tonight. And I'm
going to try very hard not to cry. So unfortunately, I could not be here tonight, but wanted to extend my congratulations to the varsity football team and its coaches on a spectacular season. The team played with heart and unity throughout the season and the redemption win over Planeage for the county championship was a thrill to watch. You all have so much to be proud of and much of it goes far beyond your successes on the field. This past fall, you all rallied around Charlie in many different ways and lifted him up during his very difficult time. These were true character building moments that should make every parent and coach immensely proud. On the surface, they may have seemed like simple acts of kindness, but to Charlie and our family, they were profound acts of love
and hope. Thank you for helping my little football player believe that he too will see the high school football field one day when this is all behind him. And thank you for reminding him and us that Vikings never quit and for exemplifying true secret pride. And with that, Mr. Whit, would you like to come up and introduce football players? Good evening everybody. I uh prepared a little speech myself. Um so thank you to the board of education uh for allowing us to recognize these wonderful young men. Coach Mchugh, just so you know, is he's on vacation right now. He loves you guys and he sends his best, but you know, he he would love to be here. >> Um, just a friendly reminder, uh, for the parents here and for the football players, we have
a heart screening uh, Saturday, a week from this Saturday, February 7th. You guys signed up for it. Many of you, you you submitted your forms. Just put that in your calendar. Coach McHugh will be in touch with you as far as an appointment because we'll probably just do it as a team. Um, just so you know here, um, Coach Moran and Coach Scall, uh, you guys can come up and join me. >> Coach Moran is one of the varsity assistant coach coaches, and uh, Jack Scal is with the middle school team. And, you know, you kind of get confused, or at least I do, because he's everywhere uh, with football. JV, varsity, he's, you know, he does it all. Um, so I'm going to just say some a few words. Coach Moran's going to go.
We have certificates to to give out to you. Um, we also have wonderful Nassau County Championship T-shirts, some medals, some plaques. So before you leave, you're going to get four different things, which is which is great. Uh, the parents, thank you very much for being here as well. You guys are wonderful. You make everything uh that much more special here in Seafford. The pasta dinners, like gourmet dinners, mind you. um the senior days, the the game day preparation, everything, transporting your children around and and just being there because you know the season's a grind and you know um you having their back and just really getting them through a full season is not easy and you know they're a really special group and that's a tribute to you know the way you you guys raised
them. So, congrats to you. Um, Coach, uh, Mchugh, Moran, Moody, Jack Scal, our volunteer coaches. You guys give all these kids a great experience. You're hardworking, you're committed, you're organized. I couldn't think of a better group of people um to lead this program. So, thank you all. Um, this the season was very special. You know, it was uh it was great. As Matt Hines said, uh, Nasso County champions, that's why you're here tonight. Uh you guys were a real tight group. You rallied around one another. Um you're going to have friends. Some of you guys are going to be friends forever. You had great memories that you'll remember forever. And uh you know, the greatest memory I had, you know, that I'll remember forever is the plane edge game. You know, uh you played them
in the regular season. We'll just say real quick, it it wasn't so good. And uh you guys bounced back and nobody really, you know, people in this room believed in you, but around the county, most did not. And not only did you win, you really gave it to him. So that was that was impressive. Yeah, you can clap for that. >> But like Miss Herbert said, uh what resonates with me and you guys in this room is your character. Um I talk to you guys all the time about how, you know, the football team kind of uh you know, they they set the tone for the school building. They really do. You guys are a large group. You I think there's 54 kids on the team. A lot of you guys are big, strong, intimidating
looking guys. You have bleach blonde hair. You're a presence, right? And uh everybody knows who you are, whether it's Brownsman custodians, school laid, teachers, right? And the overall feedback was that this group is really, really special. And I recognize that for all four of your years, even you know, even when you were in middle school. So if you want to say six years, you didn't just play football. A lot of you played two and three sports. So, it it's it's been fun watching you play. Um, you guys, some of the things that I could tell you you did supporting the other teams when you guys don't have games. Uh, the way you conduct yourselves in the building, your sportsmanship on the field, off the field, um, your involvement with our special needs population, many of
you, it's it's extremely impressive. Um, and of course, like Miss Herbert said, um, the way you guys rallied around some people in need, um, was was really special and something I'll never forget. Obviously, football's a grind. You know, offseason workouts, summer workouts, you're lifting either in the morning or in the afternoon because Coach McHugh is not going to have it any other way. Uh, film six days a week, and you guys, that's just a credit to your, you know, that's a testament to your work ethic. So very proud of all of you. 7-1 regular season, 268 points for only 102 points scored against, but I think we had 12 Nassau County award recipients, which is really, really impressive. If I'm not mistaken, I believe we're leaving behind 22 seniors. Um, there's a lot of underassmen
here. the expectations going to be high next year as always, but um you know, and again, as Matt Kine said so wonderfully, I know a lot of you guys are wrestlers here and you know, I'll be there. We're going to do well up uh in Syracuse and like I said, this was a a very memorable season for all of you. Um and you know, we're going to remember it, you know, forever. So, congratulations again. You guys were wonderful on and off the field. Special season. Um, Coach Moran. >> Hello. How are you? >> Uh, my name is Tom Moran. I'm one of the varsity assistant coaches here at Seafford. Um, you know, a lot of the success that we've had is obviously, of course, all the hard work, the dedication that these boys have had
throughout not just this season, but the seasons be before this. um and just creating a career out of out of doing this in their high school uh their high school lives. Um individual accolades, of course, team accolades, all those things. Um but it comes down to the resilience and the determination and all the hard work that they put in, right? We walk you walk around anywhere in this in in these schools, in the community, in the school district, and you see the SE Seaffort scholar traits, right? This this is a prime example of how it extends beyond just the schools and the classrooms and into just like a culture a culture around here. The resilience, the the grit, the the drive to again beat plane edge after after a terrible loss and and all those
things. So, it's it really shows the kind of character that they have as a group and they they've been a phenomenal group. We look forward to practice every single day. We had almost perfect attendance at every practice. Everybody was on time all the time. I mean, it's just a lot of dedication there. Um, and that all plays into the successes that we had. Um, beyond that, the parents, you know, the the absolute dedication that they've had, believing in us as coaches. I mean, we we do X's and O's, but they're really the driving force be behind all these other things that that go on, not just on the football field. So, parents, we thank you so much for all the things that you've done for us to support us as well. um the community, everybody
up here, we've seen you at the games, even though you may not think we see you, we see you. Um we thank you for all that support and um it's just it's it's just a really great place to to coach and work and everything else. And this isn't like this everywhere. It really isn't. Um it's such a small, tight-knit community that really works together. And uh we couldn't be happier and more proud of our boys, the parents, the community, and everybody. So, thank you. So, we have some certificates. We're going to call your name. Come up. >> Mr. W, do you want just tell the players then to go on the stage? They can take a photo. >> Yep. As Dr. said, you're going to >> You're going to come up here. You're going to
grab a certificate. You're just going to go right down the row here. You're going to grab a plaque. You're going to grab a medal. Coach Scall is going to help you out. You're going to grab a shirt. extra large and then large. Um, and then you're gonna make your way on the stage. We'll take a photo. All right. >> All right. Here we go. We got Jose Zas, got John Wland, >> Con Wallace, Matthew, >> Mark, >> Michael Tutty, Tedesco, >> Mike Manila. Robert Solomon, Jonathan Savone, Jack Rosen, >> Carmelo Riabono, Jackson Pignitaro, Lucas Peterson, Nick Puzzi, Carmine Pandolfino, Ryan Nory, >> Connor Murphy, >> Anthony Middle. Oh, I get this one wrong all the time. Rotanda Biddy Anthony Bus Miranda, >> Eden McNamera, >> Matthew Meri, Joseph Martino, >> Joseph Lynch, >> Michael Kofad,
>> Matthew Kind, Just a side note, if anybody saw a news day article on Sunday all about Ryan Kind and everything, what a great spread. >> Here we go. Nick Canalopoulos, >> Robert Gerinck, >> Brian Rubic, Brian Hennessy, >> Aiden Hall, Brendan Fox, Michael Foot, Anthony Foglia, >> Brian Faulk, >> Brady Faulk, Christian Ewald, >> John Drew, >> Kian Dobin, >> Jonathan Dietro, Logan DeFondi, Finn Curry, Richie Curtsio, >> Brock Conway, Enzo Casha got a big group here. Connor Campbell, Michael Calva, Ryan Burke, >> Peter Veron, >> James Matthew Allen >> is your 2025 Nassau County Champion Secret. Guys, let's make two rows, please. >> Maybe Peter guys everybody. Don't make me start calling out. >> Are you going to open this camera? >> Only two people. On three. One, two, three. Come on now.
There you go. You're on the spot. Okay. So, um we have two presentations. The first one talks about the facilities enhancements that we have on campus. The second one is Mr. Wit's presentation that talks largely about athletics and about physical education and health. At this point, if any students would like to leave, they can leave. But if you'd like to stick around and and watch these presentations, you're welcome to stay. It's up to you. Guys, shirt. Oh my goodness. Good evening all. My name is Russ Ker. on the director of facilities for the district. We got a little presentation of uh the facilities department update to go over some projects that we completed. Um some projects that are and some projects that are upcoming. >> Mr. C, just give a second for the boys to
get out. Okay. Sorry about that. This is just a breakdown of the facilities department um with our um custodial and um our groundsmen and maintainers. Um just a a quick breakdown of uh what consists of the facilities department. So part one is completed projects. Uh most of these projects were completed over the summer that just passed. So we did some cement work in the front of the harbor um to get rid of the rocks that were there. Uh make it much cleaner and neater and the rocks uh aren't all over the place. These are the first floor bathrooms back by the AP room. Uh as you can see from the before pictures, they were uh in uh much needed repair. So everything's nice and modern now with a brand new epoxy floor and all new
partitions and um it's handicap accessible as well. This is our manner inclusion playground. Um this was just actually completed uh in October. Um we have a whole new rubber surface, some um equipment that's being used for uh all of our students as well. So it's uh something that was you know we were very happy to get going and that uh Miss Kola's son and I have been working on uh for a while now. This is our rear harbor playground. This is our last playground now to uh get the the artificial turf upgrade. Uh we did away with the wood chips which just got all over the place and uh it was something that was always recommended by our insurance uh carrier uh Nicer. This is our middle school gym. Uh this was a two-part project.
It was a gym replacement uh the the roof replacement and then a gym renovation. So you could see the the after picture is a complete uh open ceiling. Uh it really came out nice, you know, spectacular uh renovation. This is our middle school roof, which if you could see the before picture, it was a spray-on roof um that was added some years uh to the initial project of warranty years, but we ripped it all down completely down to the to the cement deck and new insulation and a new rubber EPDM roof, which gives us a 25-year warranty. This will be the first of our roof projects uh going forward. This is our middle school library. Um you you'll see the before and the after pictures. Just a tremendous upgrade. Um much nicer area for our
our students to learn in. All new bookshelves, new flooring, new lighting, new furniture. Um really uh really came out really nice. This is our uh part two actually of our of our uh upgrade of our uh football area. Uh we first did our our booster club snack shack and then we added the cement patio over there uh for you know for our booster club uh people to be able to sit down and enjoy uh their meal. Our high school cafeteria B got an upgrade which now matches our cafeteria A. Um new lighting, new flooring and new furniture. Uh you can see the tables are really uh really cool and uh really customized to uh our Nordic nook uh our cafe uh was done last summer, but the new signage went up as well after a
student uh vote came in on on which name to pick. Our high school auditorium lighting controls were down the basement and we had a leak that hit the uh old system on the right. um we were able to work with our insurance company to have a brand new state-of-the-art uh control system put in. So now that control system also gives us the capability to run what we currently have and upgrade to any LED lightings that we want to do in the future. As always we always uh very concerned about security. So we have a lot of security enhancements which took place over the last uh two years. just to go over some things that are here. Um, one of the big things that we did was our Dura Jar system in both of our elementary
and our harbor schools. Um, also the that system now is coming to our middle school and our high school. Um, little Shazam moment there for Mr. Strifalino. Um, we also added another 100 cameras districtwide. So now we're up to a total of uh just about 250 cameras district wide. tell you it's better to work off of this. It's not as nervous as looking up there. So, I think I'm doing a little better. Uh these are some upcoming projects uh that are going to take place uh hopefully this summer. Our uh our our wrestling room down in the basement of the high school uh has flooded out on a couple of different occasions and uh part of the up uh part of the upgrade is going to be waterproofing the foundation. uh you're gonna have to
uh if you look at the current situation where the the grass is uh we're going to have to excavate there. We're gonna have to waterproof the foundation. And then we were thinking about while we're doing that, let's uh make an outdoor patio uh classroom space for uh for our students to be able to enjoy. So that uh the right side uh picture is the proposed of what it's going to look like. Uh additional fencing is going to be added to our multi-purpose field. Uh you can see that outlined in red. We're looking to renovate our high school library. Uh that will be uh the last of our libraries to be renovated. Um you can see some of the on the picture on the right. Some of our shelving is coming apart and delaminating. Uh so
they'll uh working with our uh our furniture companies uh to for a nice upgrade in there. Our high school elevator is uh original to the building. Um, it's in desperate need of a of a repair and an upgrade. So, we will be getting a a brand new elevator, brand new car, and all brand new uh state-of-the-art controls as well. This is our girls and boys bathroom at the rear of our middle school. Um, just in keeping with our bathroom upgrades as well. Uh, these are uh in need of repair and an upgrade uh like all the other ones as well. The big uh the big ticket item for this summer is going to be our manor and our harbor uh roof replacements. So, as you can see, similar to our middle school, this is the
old spray-on roof that's up there. Uh you can see a lot of water puddling. Um there's some uh raises up of the uh once the insulation gets wet, it it bubbles up. So, you can see it kind of looks like uh the surface of the moon if you would. And again, our hover roof as well. So, they'll all be that EPDM roof. We'll get a 25-y year warranty on that as well. So, uh we'll be in really good shape uh in the future with our roofs. This is just a breakdown of some things that kind of didn't make our slides. Just some things that the facilities department, excuse me, uh does every year. Um from annual fire inspections to our nicer inspections to um up uh upgrading our uh AD units and you know, just
and things like that. And just a quick thank you to everybody and a quick thank you to everybody up here uh for always, you know, your support for the facilities team and the facilities department. Uh thank you all for uh you know for having belief in us to move forward. Is there any questions? Anybody have anything to add, ask? >> Thank you so much, >> Mr. Costa. Thank you so much for the presentation. Our next presentation is going to be done by our director of physical education, health, and athletics, Mr. W. >> You didn't set me up. >> I'm sorry. I was looking for the back of the battery. You're going to see I dropped it. Okay, good evening again. This is just an overview of tonight's presentation. Um, we're going to talk about student
athlete participation rates, academics and safety, some of our team accomplishments and individual accomplishments, and like uh Mr. Costa said, you know, creating a modern competitive campus, which we've done wonderfully over the last few years. Just jumping right into physical education. At the elementary level, we teach cooperative games, locomotive movements, manipulative skills such as hand eye coordination, a lot of team building activities, um, and an introduction to the team sports. Whereas at the secondary level, we really want to focus on lifelong fitness and give the kids a little taste of everything and something that they maybe find really interesting and want to do either outside of the school setting or just again, you know, years down the road. Um, such as golf, weight training, badminton, pickle ball, and archery. These are things that I I didn't
necessarily have um in our curriculum. And um you know we still teach the traditional sports as well but a lot of phys classes are focused on sportsmanship and um you know team building. We also have PE demonstration shows at the elementary level and um intramural sports um at secondary level. The the number one is always bad mitten um professional development micro courses. very proud to say that the physical education teachers, the health teachers take the lead on many different micro courses. Uh pictured here is um one of the teachers uh facilitating a huddle lesson and project adventure. Um during superintendent conference days, uh we all meet as a department and we kind of turn key different uh games that we've used um either during professional developments or just in our day-to-day lessons and we share
that amongst the group. Um, we've also u went through the return to play process and what that's going to look like and managing concussions. Um, and then lastly, CPR and AED first aid training um is something that we do during those days as well. Pictured here is uh two of our uh each year it's a male and a female. Um it's our fizz students of the year. This is Alyssa Trenticcasta and Jimmy Woo selected by our Fizz teachers. health education the at the secondary level um we obviously focus on the New York state standards um and we use the health education as a guiding document some of the areas of study include nutrition physical physical activity goal setting stress management bullying prevention decision- making substance abuse prevention and unintentional injury preventions uh students will analyze
these topics and understand how to access reliable information in the present and future Majority Night uh relatively new. This is going to be our third year upcoming. Uh Kenny Body and Christ Cona both visit and health teachers at the secondary level. They facilitate um a maturity night which is a focus on adolescent development where the children accompanied by their parent. They learn about the body's changes and you know maybe perhaps some difficult conversations where parents are maybe uncomfortable, maybe not. Um It's another avenue to kind of talk it through as a as a large group. The attendance is really great and uh the kids seem to have a lot of fun with it. Our sports medicine class taught by our Mr. Spreckles. Um he's a very popular guy and a super knowledgeable person and related
to sports medicine. Um this class just gains popularity year in and year out where we keep adding sections. Um an overview of course is they learn how the body works, how injuries how to prevent them. Um, a full understanding of first aid, CPR and AED, taping and basic injury care. Um, building confidence in emergency situations. They do a lot of hands-on activities. And really what I like best about it is the kids really gain a nice understanding of, you know, different fields that they can go into. Athletic training, physical therapy, nursing, sports like that, you know, and Mr. Sparkles has a really nice network uh where he'll have people come in in person and talk about their profession and give them a hands-on idea of what that may look like. We talked about the heart
screening earlier. That was just an opportunity to make sure the parents knew what what was coming down the pike. Um but really this uh kind of was brought to my attention this possibility and u we're taking it and running running with it. It's a it's an early detection screening. It's a thorough heart screening and it's free. Again, we're holding it at the middle school and the idea is that many many kids in our community um will come and get this heart screening and it's uh you know the idea is to detect you know early detection and you know obviously preventing sudden cardiac arrest peace of mind for families. I'm bringing my own children just knowing that hey on this date you had a really thorough examination very different than just a regular well checkup. Some
participation numbers here at the middle school we we have great participation. We're really close to that 50% mark with again seventh and eighth graders um as far as the student population you know being involved in sports. I'm not going to read the numbers but they're up there. Same thing with the high school. We're pretty close to about 38% um if you know broken down to the three seasons. The difference is the middle school has two winter seasons, winter one and winter two. Um but really really high uh you know strong participation rates for both the middle school and the high school. You know Seafford uh we love our sports challenger athletics. Um I know Mary Katherine's in the audience there and our administrators here in Seafford love attending their games. They play basketball and they
play soccer. So proud to say they actually have a full schedule. Um they're playing against, you know, uh all the other schools with a lot of different games. They look forward to it and, you know, they're they're really they're really a joy to watch. Our athletic leadership, uh just real quick, you know, uh these kids are hand selected um by, you know, they're nominated by varsity coaches and then selected by a committee. And these kids um are the driving force around, you know, our mission here, which is to transform athletes into role models, strengthen the overall culture of the school, and align athletic programs with the school's mission of developing well-rounded, responsible young adults. So, basically what these six kids, three males, three females do is they'll attend workshops from section 8. Uh they'll learn
a lot of different things. They'll turn key that information to the captains or to a large group. And The idea is that you know that message is going to be spread. Safety is always our top priority despite being on slide 13. Um coaches certifications. Uh every coach is always fully certified. Um even our volunteer coaches, the AEDs, we have AEDs thanks to the board uh for every single team no matter what the season may be. Um we have emergency action plans. We we talk about that during coaches meetings. We have impact testing seasonally. So in the in the event that a student is concussed, we have that as a as a guide. We hold we hold parent information nights, postseason coaches meetings. Um we now again, thanks to the board, we have a a perdm
substitute uh in place. If Mr. Freckles, our athletic trainer is unavailable. Um we have that um to depend on to you know hopefully accommodate. We now have supervision at our away games which is another great thing. The heart screening we discussed DESA's law just another shout out to the fizzed team. They took the the the lead in facilitating that. Desha's law is a New York state mandate where schools must identify uh where the a tools, what an AED does, how to use it, and we took it a step further and did a hand hands only CPR uh for the day. It was a full full lesson at the secondary level. Community and school impact. Um these are just the things that we do in addition to just playing games and being successful. Uh a lot
of our programs, our varsity coaches take the lead in, you know, bringing the community back and having alumni games. You probably see the youngsters in the community getting the opportunity to play during halftime and some of the older kids teaching the youngsters, you know, um about the game, whether it's lacrosse or basketball. So, we have great feeder programs. Our homecoming and pep rallies are special. We never lose focus on the important things such as toy drives and charity games. And of course, we host, you know, honorary games. um you know for unfortunately for some seafood uh seafood student athletes who have lost their lives. Uh the booster club I could go on forever about this but it's just a wonderful group of volunteers who have done extra extraordinary things here to you know just make
seafood athletics um better you know right across the board. Uh they they provide financial support with donations. Uh they make student experiences better. Um they bridge that gap with community and um they do a lot of the things that coaches would never really want to do. Um which really helps and they're very um generous. You know, it's not just about a football team. They they make sure that every single program is um taken care of whenever they need something. Some of the team uniforms, if you see here, we got our middle school soccer uniforms. They look very nice. um our JV field hockey new uniforms and pictured here was our wrestling team um JV and varsity wrestling team and their new singlets. We got a couple of other new uniforms that it's it's in the
spring and I was looking for the uniforms but just didn't come across that box. But um Huddle, we talked about Huddle the last couple of years, but very proud of this program that we have here. Um, our varsity coaches really use this very well to our advantage. All of our varsity teams and even JB teams have the ability to record games um on any single field we have, whether it's baseball, softball, new new turf field, old turf field. Um, the idea is to, you know, share film with other schools, share film, watch film with our own teams. Um you can live stream games if parents or you know people who don't live in the area want to you know dial in. Um great for recruiting. A lot of the coaches even use it for recording
practices. And one of the most amazing things about it is the statistical breakdown how the technology is so advanced where you get up-to-date stats you know moments after a game. Some recent uh athletic highlights. It's we actually In an effort to save some time, we cut back a little bit here, but uh these are uh some of the top top highlights. 14 out of the 15 of our varsity teams were recognized as scholar athlete teams, which means that 75% um excuse me, 90 75% of the team had a 90 or higher grade point average. Really impressive there. For our fall team, varsity teams, all the teams were recognized as scholar athlete teams. Last year, we our cheer team won the national championship. Um that was the first time ever that a Nassau County school uh
won a championship and like Mr. Ken said earlier they're on their way down to Florida now. Um that cheer team also won the New York State Game Day Championship. That's in the fall season. And then we had four teams that were crowned Nassau County champions. Game day cheer, uh boys and girls bowling and traditional cheer. Last year we had 21 students that uh playing a college sport. This year we had 19 student athletes that played uh 12 seasons. So they their high school career they played every single season. U coach Milano, our varsity boys baseball coach, earned his 300th career win in in baseball. Shahid was named the new news 12 scholar athlete uh for her athleticism and obviously academic performance. and 17 out of 18 of our teams qualified for the playoffs. This is
just how we were recognized as a school of excellence um with the 14 and the 15 varsity teams. >> We're going to go real fast now just some photos. Um this is the game day champions. This is them winning in nationals, the cheer team as well. Our boys team winning the title for Nasso County. The girls team taking home the title this fall. Kenny body and the and the girls uh won the Nasso County Championship and as we discussed earlier in the night um football won the county championship. Here's Shahid with coach waterberry and there's our college signing day again 21 and that's the booster club you know making that evening very special again. So that completes the presentation and if anyone on the board has any questions happy to answer them. >> Great job.

Uh well, thank you again everyone for your presentations today. Mr. Wit, not just for the sport teams that happen, but the little things, athletic leadership club, the sports medicine medicine class, and the community events. Those are the little things that make a big difference. So, thanks for all that you do there. And Mr. Costa, thank you for your presentation. A lot of the work you do is often in the background until something goes wrong, then we see you more. Uh, but everything you do really contributes to the positive experience that all the students have here. So, thank you for everything you do. Um, I I'll take a moment to congratulate our four teachers
and Dr. Caner on the upcoming retirement. Um, we're grateful for the years of dedication and care that you've given to our students and we look forward to celebrating you more in June. I'll just say the upcoming events. I know we used to the heart screening event next Saturday a couple times. There's the blood drive this Saturday at the middle school starting at 8 a.m. And our next board meeting will be uh Tuesday, February 10th.
