algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic. M. >> Yes. >> Mr. George. >> Yes. >> M. Barnes. >> Yes. >> M. >> Green. >> Mr. Twist. >> Yes. >> Presentations. Um, the first presentation we have is the CW Promise update. All right. Thank you. Um, we just want time to develop the plan to make sure that we had something in place for us to you know focus our goals and our resources. The plan was developed based on feedback from the annual your schools your your voice survey and this is just a midplan progress update for you. So please as I'm going through if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Um we are also going to bring be bringing up team members to have uh a

focus and those experts in that area. So we'll go ahead first and bring up our teaching and learning >> and it's already on just close enough board. um want to go over some highlights from the teaching and learning department. And one of them that's not on here is from the safe report card and our PI um goal that we have for performance index. I talked to you last month about that. So not going to go over that again. Uh but you have any questions as that continues to roll out, just let me know. Um our district leadership team uh this is at a this is at the district level where a building principal and a member from their staff comes and we review uh we review data uh attendance and some behavior things at the

district level and the whole thing is to to have it go down to the BLT and then again to the TBTs. So we've moved beyond the basic structure and we're operating on a continuous improvement cycle. Now, um, part of the the work that we're doing is to basically reflect on our data to re to refine our instructional practices so we can reinforce what work and that was kind of put in place really all last year at the building levels, but we're just fine-tuning that. There would be new targets and new um, opportunities for us year after year. So, um the next highlight, um last fall we conducted a district-wide college and career readiness audit. Um as a result of that, um we identified um strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth. Um some of the um

things that we have added because of that was a senior only teaching professions course, um equipment operation and production, marketing and business development in our print shop. Um we have uh tried to um grow our strategic entrepreneurship and and then establishing three school-based enterprise pre-apprenticeships. Um we also used a tech cred grant um to get a teacher licensed in um drone certification. So we've started that off as a club. Um it's going really well. We've had a lot of interest and we think we have enough interest that we're going to add it as a class next year so that students then can get their um drone certification as well which is the USI small safety certification and the USI visual line of sight. Um we also are um currently partnering with Columbus State and having

a CCPs class on site this year. Um and then we also as part of an ESC teacher credentiing grant, we have another teacher or we have a teacher um as a result of that who is going to be able to get their um additional 18 hours in grad credit to be able to teach that psych class for us next. We won't have to rely on a Columbus State um teacher. Um and then so lots of different things with our expanded courses, pathways, and pre-apprenticeship opportunities. Um and then we have also um implemented a district-wide behavioral leadership professional. We are um in the midst of that. >> Good evening. So I will just briefly talk about two things that we're currently working on and we're calling our next steps. We're enhancing that communication uh between students

and families. So, we're creating a CTE pathway guide and communication plan to promote new courses and opportunities. And we're excited about the creation of the professional development team that's going to be made up of building principles, K12 teachers, and instructional coaches. It's really meant to help provide input on future professional development. We'll have two meetings a year, and the first meeting is slated for early December. Safety and wellness is next. Thank you. >> All right. Um under the safety and wellness, we have implemented the handle with care program. Um that is kind of led by the school counselors in all of the buildings. So if an email comes in from a family member, the counselors um read it and then speak to the appropriate teachers or staff involved with that student. Um so far we've

had emails coming into all four of our buildings. So that's a good thing. >> Uh next is we launched our afteraction review process as well as the implementation of the annual vulnerability assessments. Um so one of the things we do is at the beginning of every safety meeting that we have monthly, we look over our act after action reviews. So that's looking at our fire drills or tornado drills, looking at how we can enhance and maybe take down some of the time it takes to leave the building or how fast we can get into our placement for tornado drills. So we want to just revise those as we need at each building. We want to look to be as fast as possible but also as safe as possible. So we look at those and that

comes from perspective of building leaders um the SRO's we have in the district along with first responders. That's all part of our safety team. Additionally, our annual vulnerability process um comes to completion at the end of October every year. So, we just finished that work with the SRO's and now the director of operations and facilities and myself will meet with Mr. Roberts, develop a plan for what we feel as it might be higharching needs that the district might want to look at from a safety involvement. >> Under the Marcus training, we move to that. This is the first year that we've used the Marcus program. We have two trained instructors in the district. Mr. Lathan and our BCBA Miss McCus and they have um done four trainings already uh training 62 different staff members in

the Marcus. >> Uh and lastly on the highlights here um we've strengthened our first responder relationships as I for mentioned with our safety committee but also we're doing things through co-hosted events. One of the highlights was um the national night out we had in August at the high school. Um it was a great event that was in partnership with Madison Township and a lot of local um first responders. So that's just one way we're continuing to enhance our relationship with our >> um before we move on I I have a So prior to Marcus we did CPI training. Correct. >> So what's the difference between CPI and Marcus? >> CPI is much more restraint focused. Um Marcus is much more of a deescalation and verbal deescalation. So really being proactive, putting a lot of things

in place ahead of time before we'd ever have to get into particular holds or maybe get into a restraint. So it's much more proactive in the one-on-one approach um with students and then if we do need uh two team members to put somebody into potential restraint, [clears throat] we have been trained and certified to do that with those 62. That is a last case scenario. Much more verbal deescalation, >> okay, >> is really the key. >> Okay. So, does Marcus also include aspects of CPI or are we maintaining CPI training for for the cases where we can't deescalate? >> No, that's a great question. So, we still have uh staff that are CPI trained and it does because it's a two-year expiration. Um, so we have people that were done that had that last year.

So, they still have their CPI training and then we have our new Marcus and so they actually play well together. But if we actually had to do a hold or restraint, we would ask people that have the Marcus to take the lead on that. Um, but they do work well. We asked that question in the training because we knew we'd have >> so when the folks who are CPI trained now when that certification or that training expires, Marcus still has the capability to move beyond verbal deescalation when that's needed. >> Okay. Okay. >> Include that physical piece. >> Okay. >> They're ranked in tiers. So tier one, two is more so that deescalation training that we offer and then three or four some of the holds and potential restraints and then there is actually a

tier five option. Um but we did not offer that for our staff because that is truly it getting into a we really want to kind of Autumn and I are trained in it if we change our mind as a district. So we could train staff at tier five if we decided >> and we have SRO's really in those situations. Would an SRO be in would would an SRO be brought in for that type of situation? >> That and that would be the last case scenario. We try to make sure that the voting leaders and the staff do everything before them to put them into that position. >> Sure. >> But they are there as a resource. >> Okay. Okay. Thank you. >> Uh so our next steps um we're developing first responder mentorship programs. Uh

that's really taken um looking at their career career interest. we've had some opportunities um to look at what they really want to do in the first responder aspect and so uh officer deputy Bauman he's really been integral in those conversations last year and we're hoping to move that in to a different direction in a more positive direction uh this year one of the ways we've done that he's he's one-on-one with some drivers um and that's in partnership with Fairfield County and so it's a driving simulation and they the students only work with him so they're getting to see him in a different light which has been really really cool Uh next is the implementation of the omni omni alert pilot. Uh that was put into place last month and that is live and full go.

Um so we'll just keep it at that but we're really happy with that pilot and that is a three-year pilot. And then lastly is enhancing service learning opportunities for students and that kind of goes with the portrait graduate getting our uh students the opportunity to really be out there and serve and look at how they can give back to their working with the SRO honors for opportunity to marry with the high school. Thank you. And the next section is school culture and you don't know to share a couple things from that. Um >> okay. Um so one of the things that came out of our family involvement committee a couple years ago is that families wanted more clarity around how they could become volunteers at school and participate in volunteering opportunities. Mr. Lathan and I

uh led that committee and he worked with our building principles and leadership to create um very clear uh guidelines around what kind of background checks people would have to have for example and when they would need a background check versus not needing one and making sure that we are promoting opportunities to be involved in school with our families. And we also embedded culture questions into our annual surveys. We have to ask things like, "Do you feel you belong at Canal Winchester and Chester schools?" We asked our kids if there's an adult they can trust to talk to at school, things like that to kind of measure how we're doing on building the culture that we want here. And our next steps, um, we are going to create a committee to look at our transition points

in the district and see what we can do to strengthen those. transition points are historically or I guess kind of globally one of the points where a lot of school districts lose families to other options um when there's a change for example maybe going from elementary to middle school and the uncertainty there. So we want to take a look at how families feel about those transition points and what we can do to make sure that they are feeling supported and welcomed in their new opportunities at the district so that they can um stay with us and continue to be part of our community here. um we are ex looking to establish um external partnerships to support some of our staff appreciation initiatives that we do here. So looking at some of the local organizations and

businesses to see how we can partner to show our appreciation to our staff in cost-effective ways that also uh allow our community members to be part of those efforts. And we'll be collaborating with the technology department to refine internal communications. We also had an internal communications committee a couple of years ago that talked about some of the pain points in our internal communications right now. Um and so uh one of the ones that comes up a lot is is there a way to keep people from replying all to the entire district. So we're going to see if we can solve that problem somehow. Um as well as just looking at how we use our uh >> you solve that problem. Let me know please. We will [laughter] [clears throat] as well as looking at how

we use our calendars and our file sharing tools and making sure that it's efficient, effective. And last but certainly not least, we have operations. And basically, our operations is how we do all the other things um that we just covered. some highlights which many are aware. Um we did complete the facilities master planning process which um started last fall and here in the next couple months we'll really start to hear uh where we're going and what we're doing with that moving forward. We've already done some presentations, but we were able to get in the community feedback that we wanted and really dive into what it was that we felt we needed with that buyin from our community and we are excited to be able to develop uh and build a performing arts center um athletic

fieldhouse and athletic fields through that process improvement in the outdoor area. Um also we have uh our school bus safety curriculum and education has been updated and uh is happening now. We do have bus drivers who are going into the classrooms at the elementary buildings and providing the lessons which is cool because then it builds out relationships with the students and that's been very well received. [clears throat] Um and also then we've established a teacher academy pathway at Canel and Jester High School which Deb mentioned earlier and that has been super successful and we're excited to see where that goes. Next steps, we're working to create a financial communications plan uh to make sure that we are communicating well with what's going on. Uh we've had to use some of that this summer obviously and

it's just going to become more and more and then also uh next steps is to complete phase one of the master facilities plan. So hopefully come next month you'll see presentations and hear about uh what we're doing and where we're going more so more details because it's already coming up uh actually already started is the 2025 your school's your voice survey uh which opens November 17th but we have already started to survey our students at the high school um and the development of the next CW promise will start in fall of 2026. six. So again, if you remember, we started year one was 2023. We did a one year and then that first year we spent time to develop the next three-year plan, which internally we kind of call it the CW promise 2.0, but

that then will go through next year. So next year a lot of our tactics will be spent to develop the next um CD CW. So questions. >> Thank you. Um, for some of these developments, I'm certain that you're going to do some kind of assessment to determine the success of some of these initiatives. >> Yeah. Can you talk a little bit about that? >> Absolutely. So, if you if you are able to view the CW promise for each tactic we have, we have a measurement tool and for each school we have we have how we're going to assess whether we're meeting that. So whether it's through the survey um you know like Megan mentioned getting certain scores on how do that I feel like I'm included or I feel safe or I feel like I

have a respected adult that can answer some of the culture questions. Other ones are simply that it was completed. So for example the volunteer piece is that you know looking at that yes we now we have the volunteer forms up to date and where are we at in volunteers? Um, we have a lot of volunteers at Indian Trail specifically, but then the next step will even be are they are we using our volunteers? So, we have them. They said they wanted to be a part, but are we bringing them in the building? So, yes, for each tactic and even going on to the goals, we have assessment tools depending on what it is on how. [clears throat] >> Thank you. >> And then for the um next round of the uh your voice, my survey,

um are you using the results that you've gotten? so far to help inform the questions that you're putting out there or are these still more of the same kind of questions that have been on the survey before? >> So, very similar questions that are on the survey before. Again, we're in year two now that we look for we're really measuring last year's results, but then it also helps us guide to where we're going in the future. So, a little bit of both. Um, and then what we'll really use when we get to next year is committees. Again, year one, it just as a reminder, it was a lot of work by the district office team of really looking at where we want to go. We had to put really we put a plan together in

a very short period of time. It was a semester to put it in place for the following year, which really was the following that summer. So, it was a very quick process. We knew we needed to get in place, which is why we did the one year. Then the following year we took time and put committees together of community members uh staff administration survey results. So that will again continue with looking at where we're at what we're doing and we'll continue that work. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Other questions? >> All right. Well, thanks for allowing us to present. Thank you to the team for presenting. Appreciate it. Hi. >> Um, the next thing on our agenda is the uh CWA. [snorts] >> Uh, good evening. We are here tonight to share

a few events and activities that have been happening across our schools. Uh recently students and staff across all of our buildings have been showing their generosity through their participation in making Thanksgiving bags for the Canal Winchester Human Services Department. Each bag includes a large roasting pan, a box of instant potatoes, cans of corn, green beans and yams, a bag of noodles, two cans of chicken broth, a can of cranberry sauce, and a bo a box of stuffing, a jar of gravy, a box of cake mix, a tub of icing, and a package of cookies. Currently, the district has been able to put together uh 140 complete Thanksgiving baskets with over [snorts and clears throat] 150 additional extra items for the CW human services. Um a special thanks to Heather Eastb, Melissa Hazelbaker, Christina Reeb, Angel

Grim, Tammy Hetting, and Linda Catchmark for uh who chaired the effort in each building/ department. Um also, Veterans Day is also being celebrated across our buildings. Uh this past Friday, Indian Trail hosted a Veterans Day parade in their building. Students invited their family members who have served in the military to participate and be honored in this parade. Over at Winchester Trail, students helped make Veterans Day murals honoring their family members who have served. And this Wednesday at the middle school, eighth graders will participate in a roundt discussion with a Q&A session with local veterans to learn about uh what their service was like. We are so fortunate to have these opportunities with our veterans and want to formally thank them for all for all their dedication and service. >> Thank you. >> Will you just

quickly introduce yourself so that they know who you are? That's okay. >> Uh I'm Jake Smithers. I'm a member of the uh CWA executive board. And then Ann Lee, she is also a member of the >> What's your last name again, Jake? Uh >> Smithers. >> Thank you. >> Yes. Um, next on the agenda is public voice. And at this time, Dave, >> we have no public voice for tonight. >> Unless Joe, you got something to say? >> No, we're good. Okay. No public voice tonight. >> All right. Um, next we have um our executive reports from the treasurer. um get started on that, Nick. >> Yeah. Good evening. Uh before I get into the report, uh I just want to update on any legislation. I'm sure Monica's going to do it as well. There

really hasn't been anything new. The House passed quite a few things. Uh we're waiting for the Senate. [clears throat] Heard different things. Uh I know the Fairfield County auditor met with Pickerington. and I talked to their treasurer and she made it sound like certain things were going to happen or they were told certain things were going to happen, but they haven't at this point. So, I will update the forecast um as soon as we receive new information and have the board to approve it. That way, we're working off the most updated information. Uh but until that happens, we're kind of just I'm focusing on this year uh until the rest of that data comes out and that's all we can really do at this point is focus on current year and we'll look at the

next two years, three years, whenever uh they decide what's happening with property tax reform. So for the current year, um revenues are down. Um you're we're going to start seeing line 1035 1.04 [laughter] >> [clears throat] >> uh start to decline a little bit. It's uh part of the new bianium budget in year one. Um the DPIA was configured um slightly different. So, we're going to start receiving a little bit less um personal property tax. Uh it's not technically down. It's just kind of the timing um of the one taxpayer in the prior year. Uh income tax. Uh we did receive our second settlement and it was a little bit higher. Um so, we're up 99,000 on the year. We're still projecting 7.5. Uh it's not as high as we initially projected, but it's still

about a $400,000 gain on prior year, which is uh which is nice. Um so I do expect this to come up a little bit once we start receiving property taxes. The biggest thing for us on this forecast and this current year is the property taxes. So Fairfield County uh just went through a reappraisal. those new values were due to hit the tax bills that are coming out in January or February, which would have led to a pretty substantial increase on the property tax side. So, if something happens with that where they if they combine the permanent or the emergency levy to the floor, then that increase is going to be much smaller. That's really what I'm waiting on. That's kind of the biggest current uh year impact that we could possibly have. Uh the rest

of this stuff is going to be pretty much the same. Uh but it's that one big line item. Uh I'm sure if you live in Fairfield County, you've been to the Oud web page, you probably don't like what you see. Um Mr. George looked at your value. It's >> feel sorry for you. >> Thank you, sir. >> You're welcome. Um >> I'm supporting the school district. >> Yes, you are. um >> but case in point to that I think that's the reason why we need tax reform. Um so you don't see those types of increases in in one year. Um but it is pretty dependent on what happens in this forecast. I've got 20 point almost 20.1 million forecasted. if they were to do something with those new values and that reappraisal that would that

would really cut us down anywhere from half million to a million on that. So you'd drop that down to about 19 million. So it would have not only an impact this year but into the future years uh because of the compounding effect of that. Um so that's definitely the biggest thing that I'm keeping my eye on. Expenditures. I feel like we've uh got a pretty good handle uh on the expenditures. Um the year-over-year are obviously pretty pretty large. Um but when you look at the forecast, uh we should be at 33.4%. We're slightly below on personnel and benefits, slightly below on purchase services. Supplies were always higher because everything's frontloaded. Overall expenditures 27 and a half. So I feel like we're trending well there. Um these will catch up. We have supplementals that happen throughout

the year. We're about to have our first supplemental pay in November. Then we have another one in May. So those aren't really accounted in that 32.4 number benefits. Uh January one, the premiums are going up higher. Uh so it's not picked up in there either. So I feel like we're we're right on track for these numbers. Um so expenditure- wise we'll continue to evaluate everything whether it's needed not needed whether it's personnel purchase servicing software I think we just need to take a hard look at every single aspect of the business to make sure that is 100% needed is it being used we're getting the benefit for that and the revenue we've got to be ready uh pull the trigger on those. >> In regard to personnel, are we fully staffed or are we still

hiring? >> We can wait, I'm going to look at Cindy. I'm We're fully staffed. Nope. So, we're one special ed teacher at the middle at the middle school and we're short one aid at Indian Trail. Yeah. But we have been so that question just so we have been very much trying to get all the positions filled and it's been um it's been fun to say the least. But today I believe was the they were all supposed to start today that are other than the ones we just mentioned and one was sick this morning. But yes, um, so year over year we're trending well. Like I said, we'll keep an eye on what happens with property tax reform. U, they're going to it's going to have to calm down. Uh, auditors, whatever happens is going to

happen in the next 10 to 20 days. Uh, because the tax bills have to be ready. County auditors have to have time to process the bills that go out in January and February. So any tax reform that's going to happen is going to happen in this month. It can't wait until December. I always heard the soft deadline was November 1st, but obviously we we went past that. [clears throat] Um so I'm sure the county otter are putting pressure on legislators to make a decision. Um because they don't want to be waiting till last second. is going to put a lot of work on them and then they won't be able to get the tax bills out in time which would delay payments to us and other entities and they definitely don't want to do that.

So I think we're down to the down to the last minute on making some of these things happen. I'm hoping they pump the brakes and we stop reacting and actually look at what the plan is long term. we can figure it out in 2026 for the tax year 26 and come up with a plan that's actually beneficial to everyone and not just hurt school districts. That's what I'm hopeful of. We don't know at this point. Uh interest earnings, uh we're still strong. We've built a portfolio. Uh that's good. You probably saw in the last few weeks the the Fed cut the rate by 0.25. So interest rates are going to continue to drop. Um he did iterate that December they're not expecting those to drop, but I think he's getting a lot of pressure from

the president uh to continue to drop those rates. So we'll see kind of where that goes. And these kind of drop sudden I mean when they drop at 2.25, we drop 25 almost instantly in interest rates. So we're trying to stay in that 3 to five year window to where we're still able to get uh in the 4% 3 and a half to 4%. So, I feel like we're positioned really well um when it comes to the interest earnings because you can see it's a it's a big part of our revenue stream. 3 million 2.7 and we're already at 1.186. Um we definitely don't want to cut that when we're being cut on the state budget side, being cut on the property tax side. It would just be one more line item to where we're

reducing. We want to try to maintain a cash balance and and maintain that investment balance so we can keep earning um that revenue stream. >> So part of part of that is tied to the loans we took for the construction projects. So kind of what's the life what's the term of those when when will we start at some point the interest income will start decreasing, right? because we got to pay off those loans and then we don't have that cash balance anymore. >> Yeah. So, we staggered the bond proceeds. Uh we knew the project wasn't going to get started until January to March range. So, we invested the full 15 million out until December. So, we were able to get a set amount of rates. Uh some of them already started maturing. So, I reinvested

them for three more months uh at effective rates and we'll keep doing that. So, if we start moving dirt in March and once we get the once I get the schedule, like a finalized schedule, we'll be able to know uh what things are happening when the PAC's starting, when the building's starting, and then we can kind of look at the costs, project it out, and we'll just keep investing it as we go. So, we'll probably we'll probably keep rolling over investments probably for the next 12 months. So, as we lose, we'll just keep going out and going out and going out. I figure we're going to in the end we'll probably earn close to a million dollars on the $15 [clears throat] million bond proceeds that we'll just put back toward the project to try

to help offset the deficit >> nice >> that we have. That's all I have. Any other questions? >> Right. Thank you, >> Nick. Um, next we have the superintendent report. >> Thank you very much. Um, good evening board members and community members. I'm excited to share some updates across the district and I do have a lot to share. So, uh, first off, our students and staff have had a busy and exciting fall filled with achievements, creativity, and community service. The Canal Winchester High School marching band wrapped up an incredible competitive season by earning a superior rating at the OMA state marching band finals. This marks their fifth superior of the year, having also received top honors at all four regular season competitions, including awards for best music, best color guard, and best percussion. Their consistent

excellence represents countless hours of dedication from students, directors, and volunteers, and we are so proud of their accomplishments. Our annual district costume day brought plenty of smiles in school spirit across all buildings. Students and staff alike enjoyed the day with creative costumes and fun classroom activities. This event is part of our annual district-wide competition between buildings. And our staff went all out with their costumes, creating fun memories for our students. At Winchester Trail Elementary, students had the opportunity to meet award-winning author Zetta Elliot, whose visit was the culmination of a buildingwide reading of her book Dragons in a Bag. classrooms integrated the story into art projects and writing activities and even cared for pet dragons as part of a positive behavior initiative. During her visit, Miss Elliot shared her experiences as a writer and the

importance of telling stories that reflect diverse voices. We are grateful to our Canal Winchester PTO for making this engaging experience possible for our students. Our cross country program had a standout season this year. Senior Grant Hamilton finished third overall at the OSAA state championship. And our girls team qualified for the state meet for the first time since 2009, finishing 13th in division 2. Their hard work and determination throughout the season were truly remarkable, and we look forward to formally recognizing them at our December board meeting. Students in seventh grade at Canow Winchester Middle School took part in the annual Greek Fest, a hands-on celebration of their social studies [clears throat] curriculum. The event featured Olympic style competitions, team activities, and a themed lunch, all designed to bring history to life in a fun and memorable

way. The Canal Winchester High School Theater Department recently wrapped up a successful weekend of soldout performances for a night of one acts. The production, presented in partnership with the Canal Winchester Performing Arts Boosters, featured two studentled one-act plays, Bad Auditions by Bad Actors by Ian McWely, and Tracks by Peter Tarsy. The first performance was presented in the classic melodrama style and even invited audience participation with attendees encouraged to toss tomatoes at the performers in good fun. The creative concept and high level of student involvement made this year's one acts a memorialable a memorialable a memorable experience for both performers and audiences alike. I do want to just really quick make note that we actually have a star from the first night in our in our audience tonight with Amy Lee. She was actually one of

the uh on the first night they allowed for uh or they had the staff actually act for the uh the cast and it it was a surprise for them which was really cool. But Miss Lee does a wonderful uh modern dance that if you'd like to see it, it was fantastic. In honor of Veterans Day tomorrow, we would like to extend our gratitude to the veterans in our community for their service to our country across our schools. As uh Mr. Smithers already mentioned, uh, students and staff are taking time to learn about and recognize the importance of Veterans Day. At Indian Trail and Winchester Trail Elementary, our students and staff showed tremendous generosity by raising over $2,000 to support the disabled American Veterans Organization. Indian Trail mental health specialist Jackie Tishu coordinated the effort and

led the creation of a field of flags between the school buildings in honor of Veterans Day. Indian tri students also welcomed veterans to the school for their annual Veterans Day parade on Friday of last week. Canal Winchester High School students participated in the city of Canal Winchester's annual Veterans Day program on Saturday and Canal Winchester Middle School will host its annual Veterans Day roundt on Wednesday of this week. Finally, Canal Winchester High School hosted its fall painter portrait day on October 31st. This event allows students to explore personal interest and future goals through a wide range of experiences from outdoor activities and creative arts to community service and career readiness sessions. Students took part in everything from sports and nature walks to CPR certification, college application help, and adulting 101 lessons. It was a day

dedicated to self-discovery and growth beyond the classroom. That concludes my report. Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and schools. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Um next we have the um board committee reports. Before we [snorts] But before we go on with that um couple items, I would like to congratulate um Joe Art and Leah Cobb for their um successful win on the uh Canal Winchester school board election. And I'd also like to uh recognize Veterans Day and for all of those who have served in um the military. I'd like to uh congratulate you and just thank you for your service. I have very very a lot of members in my family who have served and retired uh my father and uh several of my siblings. So uh we do appreciate

all of the hard work and the service that you give for our country. And with that um I'll move to the CWJRD. Does is there anything we have for that? >> Um we wrapped up fall sports programming um in in October. Uh we're moving into winter sports right now. And the only programs that are open for registration right now are karate, which is pretty much available for anybody. And of course we have the IRS sound bath, which is always available. [laughter] Um, I have actually tried that, not this one through the JRD, but I got uh I did have an opportunity to try that through uh the city of Columbus and uh it was an interesting unique experience and I will probably be doing it through the JRD. >> Thank you. Is there anything else?

>> Um the uh next one is the OSBA legislative. >> Thank you, President Barnes. Um, our district leaders had met with uh Senator Reynolds and Senator Brener on October 21st [clears throat] to discuss a tax reform proposal uh focused on creating a fair, transparent, and sustainable property tax system for all. And it they used um they spoke of a datadriven approach and the proposal identified inconsistent and inflated property valuations as the key issue to address. Um, as many are aware, there are several bills impacting local taxation and school funding, and they're currently moving through the legislative process. As Mr. Roberts um mentioned earlier, um the the Senate Local Government Committee uh recently held its third hearing on House Bill 129, which would include certain property tax levies in the calculation of a school district's effective

millage floor. Um the committee heard testimony from BASA, OSBA and OSBO as interested parties. Um the committee also held its third hearing on House Bill 309 which would allow county budget commissions to reduce millage on certain voter approved tax levies and it excludes debt levies um if they deem it necessary or prudent. um the three prominent organizations, they provided input on that bill as well. Um additionally, the committee held its second hearing on House Bill 186, which proposes capping tax growth for districts on the 20 mil floor to the rate of inflation through retroactive tax credit. It also provides reimbursement funds for school districts in in the years 2026 and 2027 to offset potential revenue losses. A proponent testimony was heard on that bill. Also, the committee held its second hearing on House Bill 335,

which would cap inflationary growth on all inside millich beginning in tax year 2026. Proponent testimony was provided. Um, on another note, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and the State Board of Education currently have several administrative rules open for public comment. Those interested in submitting feedback can do so by emailing rule comments at education.gov. Um, lastly, I look forward to attending the Ohio Schoolboard Association capital conference next week. Um, I'll be participating in the delegate assembly where I will vote on proposed platform amendments and resolutions that aim to strengthen public education across the state and thank you for your attention. This concludes my report. >> Miss Tally, there was I have a question. There was at one point I just saw it in the news cycle. There was talk of something going on in

the state legislature around schools ability to to uh to bond. There was some talk of the state paying off existing bonds and removing bond authority from school districts. Have you heard anything about that or Nick? Have you heard anything about that? Um, I know it [clears throat] was a part of Senate Bill 93 that Brener introduced. Uh, but I also think it was a sidebar, but I think it was mainly in the Senate Bill 93 where he was proposing uh to eliminate all income tax, local property tax and have a 20 mil that would go through the through the state and be distributed through the state and raise sales tax. Part of that would be a countywide uh transportation system. Uh and then part of that would be for the state to assume the debt

of every school district that currently has bonded debt for mostly school buildings. Um but I haven't heard anything otherwise on whether it's got >> I think it's something that was just recently introduced and there's a flurry of them. There's a lot of different proposals out there floating around. >> Okay. of all the ones that one. I mean, it it just feels like the state's trying to take more and more control. And if they remove bond authority from schools, school schools would never be able to build another building without going through some state process and and getting state dollars to actually do it. I don't So, >> it's part of that um >> Okay. >> that intention to diminish local control of school boards. >> Okay. Thank you. Um I will also be attending the OSBA

capital conference. Um but particularly on November 17th, I'll be attending the student achievement fair. Um so checking out what the students have been doing all around the state and hopefully I can bring back some good ideas. That's all I have. >> Sorry. Next we have our district reports. Do we have any comments on this? >> Yeah, I have a few. Um, I want to echo a few a few things. Uh, I would like to uh wish everybody a happy Veterans Day tomorrow. Mr. George, thank you for your service. And uh anyone else out there, uh thank you. Thank you for everything you've you've done for us and for our country. Um also wanted to congratulate Miss Tally on her win uh back on the school board as well. Uh so I wanted to add absolutely

add that. Uh so a couple things I'm kind of kind of be all over the place. Uh I did it I was at uh the Indian at Indian Trail uh a couple weeks ago and uh one thing I noticed and I wanted to comment Miss Dr. CPP was uh your golden awards and I think those are fantastic part of your PBIS uh reward system and and uh keep that up. I love that right there. So um thank you for doing that. also at at Indian Trail. I thought it was interesting and and Miss Hunt kind of mentioned this uh but the bus drivers and the transportation department came over and did presentations to the second graders. I think that's a great collaboration and gets uh makes them a little bit more of a of a

human being. Uh those teachers or those bus drivers rather. So, uh thank you for the transportation department and those bus drivers for for doing that. Um, Winchester Trails doing a Veterans Day presentation which was also me mentioned. Uh, and I wanted to comment that uh uh Oh, and that's not the you don't have you're not trying to raise money on that one, right? That's the disabled Americans, correct? >> We already did. >> Okay. Okay. I appreciate it. I thanks for clearing that up. I donated today. So [laughter] >> Okay. >> All right. Excellent. Um, another [clears throat] thing then we I've got here is the middle the Ohio Middle Level Association is proud to recognize Canow Winchester Middle School as a recipient of the Central Region Award for best practices in the field of college

and career exploration. Under the leadership of Principal Brian Moore, the middle school is setting the bar for an innovative hands-on career readiness experiences that prepare students for success beyond the classroom. So, congratulations to the middle school. >> [laughter] >> Tally and I often double up on things. [clears throat] I also wanted to congratulate the cross country teams. Um, third place for uh the girls in the state meet and then Grant Hamilton, son of two of our teachers at the high school. Uh, Whitney and Renee Hamilton finished first or third. He did finish first in the district and first at the regional meet. Uh, so congratulations to them and to coach Snyder. Job well done and the Marching Indians. I wanted to congratulate them. So that's it. Thank you very much. >> Thank you, Madam President,

if I may. >> Yes. >> Um, I'd first like to welcome our 13 new peers in our preschool program that started last week. I hope your first week has been great. Um, I also wanted to uh bring your attention to all of the positive work that's been happening at Indian Trail. Um, and Dr. Clopel uh specifically in regard to um increasing collaboration and communication with families and uh getting 66 parent volunteers to assist with various activities. I think that's pretty remarkable and it helps what make our district very special and unique. So, thank you. Um, I also uh want to commend the um notes of gratitude initiative. I know Mrs. tissue was very uh integral to that and uh I like how it's been used at your staff meetings as well and that speaks to

what uh Miss Anthony um spoke about in her presentation for school culture under our CW promise. Um those things really make a difference. Um, also I wanted to remind families of high school students that there are scholarships available and the there's an application there's one application for all of the scholarships. So I would um recommend that they take advantage of that and see if they're eligible. Um the deadline to apply is April 24th, 2026. So, um I'm sure you can contact the high school office for more information on that. Thank you. >> Go ahead. >> I apologize. A couple others that uh that I didn't read. Not often are you going to hear this at a Canal Winchester board meeting, but uh thank you to Growport and the collaboration it sounded like that we had

with uh our safety teams, our high school, our athletic directors, uh all law enforcement. Uh we we've heard too many bad things about that that night and loose football game to the past. So I wanted to make sure I want I I just made a comment that uh job well done on that night to both Canal Winchester and all the planning it took and and communication. So thank you for for those most probably you Mac back there. So thank you very much for that. Uh I also wanted to mention uh we have two retirees Mr. Kenny Phillips and Mrs. Laura Shery. So at the end of the year those they both will be retiring. So congratulations to them. Job well done almost. >> Thank you. And I guess that means that our Canal Winchester football

team went on is going on to the next level, right? >> So congratulations to them. And Miss Tally, I did not mean to overlook you because we ran together a lot of things. So um you know it was wonderful running with you and >> um congratulations. So, um, you've been what much of a, you know, we've built a good friendship. So, hope to keep it that way and keep working together. So, thank you so much. Um, next we have, um, do you have anything? >> I do. >> Um, Dr. Kulie, I I noticed that we're switching to a cloud fax server. Uh, were we using analog faxes up till up to now? >> Can you come up and use the microphones? So, all of our listeners. We were still we were still using a uh

a digital service but the difference is that we were hosting the server right there in the room and and frankly my team members um frankly telecom changes protocol changes and and and uh uh we believe a vendor support and vendor posted changes as telecom providers change their protocols um they will put those in place um much quicker and will have better. >> Okay, that that makes sense. I just as I was thinking through that, I'm I'm wondering if we have done a telecom audit in the school district within the last five or 10 years because there may be an opportunity to save money on old analog Centrex lines that we're still paying on. Unless we've done one and and we don't have any of that stuff hanging out anymore. I mean, it's it's an opportunity

to to consider just from a cost savings. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we have we don't have any POS lines lines throughout the district. However, though as we are moving one of the things that we do have in the district is a hosted form service. >> Again, it is host in the district here. That's something we're >> talk to the city of Columbus. We know a little bit about that. >> Okay. [laughter] >> Thank you. >> And then I just have a few things. Um, I just want to highlight that drone course. I thought that that was pretty amazing as I was reading that starting for next school year and that the CW online academy seems to be doing pretty well for its first semester and going into its second. Um, and I saw that Indian

Trail is going for their purple star. So, just hope everything goes well with that. I think that's an amazing thing to go for. Um, but I did have a few questions about the behavior analyst board report. Um, with the refer the number the new number of student referrals for behavior support services. Um, it looks like there was a decrease um, from last year to this year, but are we expecting that there could be a potential increase as the year goes on with those referrals? Yes. There can Oh, within the special ed, right? >> Within your report, Brooke. >> Within your report? >> Yeah. >> No, it's within mental health. >> Oh, it's within the mental health. So I think what was your question? >> Um are we expecting an increase in referrals as the year

goes on because it looks like it went down. >> Are you looking under the number of the student referrals and how so far this year? >> Oh, okay. Yeah, that's what I was looking at. I think >> actually if you go down there's a Google doc um that's attached at the bottom and that's what I'm looking at the numbers on that one. So the number of referrals for services so far this year, right? And then compared to the total number Yes. in the last year and this year come >> and um I think a lot of those students that we're working with are students that have been here and so they're carried into that bottom row. >> Okay. And so yeah, there um it's good that we don't have a lot of new with new

students, but I think a lot of students that were here last year already have those plans and we do a lot before she ever picks them up. Also, the teachers do a lot of things before there's a formal referral to her to do the assessment or the behavior plan also. >> Thank you. Thank you. Um, next we have next on the agenda we have the consent agenda. Um, I move for approving this um for this uh consent agenda. Sorry. >> I second. [snorts] >> Okay. Thank you very much. So, we'll start first with number two. We have minutes. Uh we're looking at minutes from the October 13th regular meeting and the October 20th and the 27th special meetings. Number three is our donations. We do have four donations. Um we have one from Schwitzer Engineering

Laboratories to Indian Trail for $100. Um, we have a donation in the amount of $20,000 to the U. Saul Molder SC scholarship fund. Uh, and we want to thank them again for their continued support of that scholarship. Um, and we have uh a donation of 500 to the Canal Winchester High School from Mike Dylan from Ohio Grad LLC. And we have an anonymous donation to Indian Trail for the Nutcracker Field Trip. Moving on to number four, we have our certified personnel. We have resignations uh for the purposes of retirement that Mr. Twist had mentioned. Um we have Kenny Phillips and Laura Shery, both middle school teachers who are both retiring at the end of the year. So again, congratulations to them. Um and we look forward to spending the last year uh the last few

months with them both. They will be missed. We have a leave of absence request and teacher recommendation for an intervention specialist. Again, this fills um one of our final positions that we have at Indian Trail and we still are uh we still do have that opening at the middle school. And just so everybody knows, I did want to make mention that we do have that position covered internally right now. So, there's some shifting around that happened with current staff to make sure that those students are supported at the middle school. Moving on to number five is our classified personnel. Uh we have three re resignations and um a leave of absence request from one of our special ed aids. And then we have three recommendations for positions. One is for a bus aid and then

we have two aids for special education at Indian Trail. And moving on, we have three different custodians that will serve as subs. Number six, we have our supplemental personnel and stipens. We have resignations from our current head baseball coach and assistant baseball coach. And we are rescending contracts for um Scott Shaw as assistant high school boys track. He did resign with us earlier this year from teaching, but we are catching up on that for the track position. And um we are approving assistant high school wrestling coach Kian Shonne and we have a volunteer coach for boys basketball in Giorgio prestos. Number seven is an overnight field trip request for uh OMU which will be traveling to uh downtown Columbus for uh December 7th through December 9th. And that's all I have for consent tonight. >>

So, just in case um there's any questions about the baseball coaches that um are resigning, we are we have plenty of time between now and next season to replace those positions and we we're not h we don't have any concern with the fact that they will be residing at this point. >> Correct. Correct. Yeah, they they it is posted um currently receiving applications and we'll get on it as quickly as we can. But yeah, >> just want to put it out there. I know we talked about it, but I just wanted to make >> Yeah. And Mr. Behan has made it like he's working on the transition plan and still right now going to finish through to make sure that there's a solid transition plan for that program. >> Great. Take a vote. Are there

any other questions? Okay, let me take a vote. >> Yes, >> the next one is our action items. Uh resolution authorizing a tiff and compensation agreement with the Fairfield County. Uh this motion is to approve a resolution authorizing Canow Winchester local uh school district board of education to consent to the Fairfield County Tax Increment Financing, otherwise known as a TIFF exemption and to enter into a related school district compensation agreement with the Fairfield County Board of Commissions. Have a >> motion. A motion. >> Second. Anyone have any questions? Uh so what this is is this big area right here this parcel 2022 board approved a CRA tax and revenue sharing agreement at state county right here make this all a tip school tip meaning that any money that we would have received property tax all

they're not expected to abate any of this time I asked that question forward and then they overlay partial remaining partial money outside the county. All right, we're concerned at this point in this harmless bless. Okay. Um, there are no questions. Can we take a vote? >> Yes. >> Um, next we have the school calendar final reading. I'll take motion. >> So moved. >> Okay. Thank you. So at the last month we did have our first reading um where the calendar was shared. Um again looking at really the August 5th, 6th, 7th would be for new staff work days. 10th through 12th would be teacher work days and then 13th would be uh the first day for students of August. And then you just look through um there's September 21st is off for a professional development

day. We would get next year I believe a two-day fall break. Nope. A one day fall break uh for the 16th and then um two weeks at the holiday for over Christmas New Year, December, last two weeks of December and a couple days off in February. Spring break would be the last week of March and that does uh butt up Good Friday day as well. And then the last day of school would be May 27th for students and May 28th for our staff. >> Are there any questions? We take a vote. >> Mrs. Tally? >> Yes. >> Miss Barnes? >> Yes. >> Mr. George? >> Yes. Mr. >> Green? >> Yes. >> Mr. Twist? >> Yes. >> Thank you. Um Looks like that um does it for the regular agenda. Um well, wait a minute.

>> I'm sorry. >> Um discussion item. >> Um we had a we were going to have the first reading of a policy um for um anonymous. >> This is the first reading on a bunch of policies. Are we going to t are we going to have that first reading or do we need to change it since >> we're going to have y so we have several policies that came in yeah from Nola we're just putting these together uh this is out there on our board docs for anybody that would like to view it we did spend time in our work session uh I believe October 20th somewhere in that ballpark of going through these with the board um and So you can there are several that came through from Niola. Uh keep scrolling Nick. Uh

and then we have some that are around transportation changes that came through with OC and um some anti-harassment changes. And you'll notice in those policies, just something to highlight, there's nothing really new in those. um they were updated to condense consolidate the policies so that you don't have a bunch of different policies that all say very similar things. So it's more of the combining. So you'll see some deletions of policies and then also just combining of policies as well. And then we have some district requests that are just technical corrections um on administrative retirement benefits and due process rights that we have discussed and then we'll move into uh I believe that a discussion on um a new policy that has been discussed multiple times in work sessions and in um meetings on anonymous complaints.

>> Um Uh, Nick, can you pull up the anonymous complaint policy? >> I think it's I think it's in that list. >> You have that logged in. >> Not enough. Yeah. No. Yeah. It's the very last one. Yep. So, um, this is a a new policy that's been that's under consideration, and we had a discussion regarding this policy, uh, in a board meeting a couple months ago, or was it the last board meeting? >> It was. Yeah, it was the last one. So, um, I weighed in pretty heavily against that. And, uh, I I'm I'm going to weigh in pretty heavily against this current version as well. I just think, you know, as a board, our responsibility is the fiscal health of the district and and policy within the district, adherence to state law, adherence

to OC, adherence to various policies, legislative requirements, and this policy isn't being put in place for any of that. Um, and what this policy is telling us we have to do as a district is ignore policy violations that we find out and that we verify. So, this policy is actually telling the school district that we have to advoc abdicate our responsibility to enforce other policy simply because we discovered that policy violation through an anonymous report. So, um, if you look at at at bullet number two under policy, we're ignoring all anonymous reports. Um, despite the fact that we have an OC required anonymous reporting tool that we have to have as a district. Um, and it anonymous reports won't serve as the basis for any action against staff unless it's a legally mandated requirement. So

again, as I mentioned earlier, we're advocating our responsibility to hold our staff responsible for policy violations. It's [clears throat] been you've talked about this pretty heavily about about this being protection of the staff. Um but when we ignore policy violations because they come from an anonymous source, we are not protecting students and families um who have to deal with retention retribution and fallout if they don't report anonymously. Uh we also haven't discussed anything about items that won't get reported once it becomes known that anonymous reports will lead to no action. So, I see multiple problems and and I'm going to put I'm going to put forward while it while it is going to seem a ridiculous a ridiculous example, I'm going to go ahead and put it forward. You know, if we have a student

walking a hallway and they see a teacher vaping outside a classroom, ridiculous, I understand. They go into our stays safe speakup reporting system and report that anonymously. An administrator gets that anonymous report. They verify that that vaping happened. They can't do anything with that teacher because it came in anonymously. So that administrator now is going to go to that teacher because our this policy requires it. And they're going to say, "Hey, I just wanted want you to know you were vaping outside the classroom. We verified it. we're not going to do anything because it was anonymous and I can't. My hands are tied. Um, and so now our students lost confidence in that anonymous reporting tool. So, they're not going to report things anonymously going forward. But let's say the next week the students walking

down the same hallway and the teacher directly across the hallway from the teacher from before from the previous incident is Smokeoky is vaping outside their classroom. That student goes and tells the principal, "This teacher was vaping outside the classroom." The administrator verifies that vaping incident, disciplines that teacher because now it's not an anonymous report. That teacher is now going to go to their union representative. And now we're in a grievance situation because the union representative is going to grieve the discipline against one teacher when we didn't discipline the other teacher even though we knew both instances were correct. So, we're affecting our union ability, our we're affecting our ability to discipline teachers even in cases or discipline staff even in cases where it's not an anonymous report and we were able to verify it were

potentially affecting our ability to do that. There is so much wrong with this policy and and this is going to move forward to a second reading next next uh next month. I want this policy to be as a separate action item because we need to understand and people who watch these meetings need to be able to understand who agrees with not discipline disciplining staff simply because of an anonymous report even when we can verify what was brought up in that anonymous report. So that's all I've got to say. Is there any other comments? I will say that um Dave and I discussed this um and um after his discussion and telling me what what his opinion was and why he felt that way. Um I couldn't disagree with him. So um that's kind of where

I'm thinking too along those lines. I hadn't thought of it that way and how it could affect, you know, us, especially with a grievance with the union and um having something that's not necessarily required to be reported, but still would not be something that we would want to happen in our hallways um or happen in our district. So, um that's just kind of my thought on it, but have a second reading coming. So, I just um wanted to just make sure that um everybody um and thinks about it and we will have more information coming. I mean, there won't be any more information unless someone comes up with something um have an opportunity to vote on it next next meeting. >> Can I just say one thing? Um I do want to just the way

I interpret um that second where it says policy B anonymous communication shall not serve as the basis for discipline disciplinary or evaluative action against any staff member unless legally mandated. I don't think that an anonymous um letter should serve as the basis. That should not be the reason that someone is getting in trouble. Like if I call the police and have anonymous tip, they're not just going to go arrest someone based off my anonymous tip. They're going to do their due diligence and find out if this actually happened. They're going to verify it and then action will be taken. So that's how I interpret that part. Um not as, oh, we got this anonymous letter. We're not going to do anything about it just because it's anonymous. >> That's what A says. A says we

will not take into account anonymous emails, letters, or unsigned communication regarding staff. >> That's where they're required by law. So that means we wouldn't even take it into account because his example wouldn't be required by law, >> but we would still read it as a board. I think we discussed that in our last special meeting that the board would get a copy and we would understand what's going on and give it to the direct the person correctly that it needs to go to. I guess the question is does it need to be rewritten to kind of say that because when you say when I understand your point about basis but basis means whatever it's built on. So that means yes this would be the basis and everything else you find by investigating is what this

your investigation is built on this basis that we got an anonymous hit. Well, and if you look at the procedure section and number two, no action shall be taken unless the content creates a legal obligation. So, there's multiple parts in there where it said that we will not as a district take any action based on an anonymous based on an anonymous letter. I see what you're saying. I don't think this policy says that. I think this policy ties our hands and says that we will not take any any disciplinary action against the staff member based on a report anonymous. >> Can you scroll down just a little bit because I want to see that that section that we discussed at our last meeting was put in there. [cough] No adverse employment action shall be taken

against staff based solely on anonymous communications unless legally required. Once again, the base solely. >> Like I said, I don't I don't believe that just because you received something anonymously that should be the basis. Um, anybody could have wrote it. Anybody could have said it. Someone that probably not even associated with the district. It could be a outside reason. It could be I was two states away and somebody knows where I work and they're writing in. It could be anything. So having that as the basis that you're losing your employment is something that I don't believe is fair or right. But then shouldn't we shouldn't it be better stated to say that um not to say that we're not going to do anything with them but to say that an anonymous would would be investigated

as and it could be the basis it could be the part of why we even investigated that means it's the basis the reason why we even investigated this was because we we got information from an anonymous letter otherwise we wouldn't have even known about But I I just I still stand by not thinking that it should be the basis. That should not be the basis as to why anything. If there's an investigation that gets started, if there's a camera, anything like that, that's another thing. There's a witness that comes forth, they actually say what happened. They were there. They're taken into account. We're interviewing >> that. But that's the way we currently act. If that's the way we currently act, why do we need a policy for the way that we currently act? >> I

think this one is different. It's just for anonymous. No, that's what I'm saying. The way we currently act with Anonymous is we investigate it. If there's information in there that's verifiable, we investigate it. That's our current practice. Why do we need a policy if we're just going to continue doing our current practice? There's no legal reason for this policy. There's no OC or legislative reason. So, why are we implementing an anonymous complaint if policy if we're still going to continue doing the same thing that we're doing now? I think it's to our advantage to refine what the current policy and practice is and also to strengthen the protection and support of our staff against not examples like you posed but more so examples that have no bearing on the um well-being of the students and

educating them. Um it it's kind [clears throat] of uh also my interpretation is similar to Miss Green's. Um I do believe that um we wouldn't use the anonymous complaint as the sole basis, but if warranted and corroborated, such as cameras, uh something else that would verify that they're um that the alleged violation really is in fact true. Um, I think the board would still the district would still be able to take action, but again pointing out the solely is the the issue and perhaps we just need to refine the wording >> and kind of make it more clear. >> So I I guess my comment stands if we're not changing the practice that we're currently doing, why are we implementing a policy? So one thing I guess I want to mention to that Dave is

the consistency or maybe even if you want to say the lack of consistency in terms of what is investigated and what wasn't. So that's been an issue I think that we were trying to address. >> Do you think this addresses that? I mean to me as I'm reading this this says I mean if you're going with consistency to me this is consistent. It says an anonymous report won't lead to anything. >> Well, I believe the consistency was part of >> But is that what this says? Am I reading it wrong? I mean, am I reading it wrong? When I read it, it says an anonymous complaint won't won't lead to anything for a staff member. Is that the intent of this policy? >> I don't know that it's the intent. >> No, I don't think

it's the intent. >> Okay. So, an anonymous >> I'm just saying that's so how are we going to handle how are we handling anonymous complaints? This says no action will be taken unless the content creates a legal obligation. That says to me if an anonymous report comes in against a staff member, we're not going to take any action on that. That's what that says to me. Is that wrong? I mean, say it now. Is that wrong? Am I reading that wrong? And I I guess I think that if something did come up, we have to make sure that this policy that we that we review [clears throat] it to the extent that if something did happen and the person went to their attorney, they'd look at that number two and say, "Well, there no action

was supposed to be taken, but they took action." So, it's kind of like we have to make sure that the wording is concrete and works for whatever it is you're trying to accomplish with consistency if it's something we're not already doing. Because we don't want to get into a situation where someone pulls out one part of this but another part says something different and then they use it, you know, against us because [snorts] it's not clear. So my question would be how would you reward it? I mean because we've been going over this for quite some time now. So how >> I don't think we need this policy. I don't think it needs to be rewarded. I think we just need to scrap it and leave the and continue practicing the way we want. If

we want more consistency with anonymous complaints, then have every anonymous complaint come to the board and the board reviews it and makes a decision on it needs to be investigated or it doesn't. If that's what we need, that's what we need. We don't need a policy for it. We just need a practice for it. >> We need something that's going to need something that's going to protect. >> Then then a board then then a board review protects staff. And if you want to make that the practice, make it the practice. It doesn't need to be a policy. >> And then aren't they protected by the union? Because then if they if they disagree with something that we made a decision on as a board, don't they go to their union? >> Not all staff members

not all staff members have a >> [clears throat] >> So, if we want consistency and we want to protect staff, bring them all to the board and let the board review the anonymous complaints. There's not that many. It's not going to kill you guys to go into executive session. And I say you guys because I won't be here in January, but it's not going to kill you guys to go into executive session and look at one a month. It's not even one a month. This isn't the volume of it. So, take that on yourselves as your responsibility. It doesn't need to be a policy that locks our that locks the administration that that handcuffs them into not being able to do anything in the name of consistency. That's a mistake. This is word smithing. It's

the only thing I'll say. Typically in policies when you use shall that means that you are doing it. So you're not doing it for other employees. But any complaint against the treasur superintendent, you are going to review it because you're saying shall. This means shall not serve as the basis, which says that it will not serve as the basis. So these words after it really don't mean much. Ka, you deal with policy more, but I've always learned through legal when you use the word shall, it's binding. May is more gray. I think maybe changing word smithing some of the shs to maze would be helpful. Just in what I'm reading, there are some little just small inconsistencies everywhere is is shall um clean up. I'll just I'll just go back and say if if if

you want if you want it to be more consistent, bring every anonymous complaint to the board and let the board decide whether it needs to be investigated and you've got the consistency that you want without a policy that handcuffs administrators from what they can and can't do. >> So, can I really quick mention something? So, we've been discussing this for months and at a point in time, and I don't remember what month I could go back to my notes. Uh, actually, I would say it's probably September because I'm I've got my print and the print dates September 8th. So, it was probably for the September board meeting. I was asked to bring a policy to the board that stated what Dave is sharing that uh that the board would look at and review uh the

anonymous letters. I have this. It's in polic. a addition into policy 9130 which is public complaints. I was never I was not able to share this because in that work session uh when the policy was shared it went it was just we we went a different direction. So the work the work that we had done I was unable to do but it would say in public complaints which talks about how public complains about things. Uh and we don't have this up because I wasn't sure we were going to use it. It's just in my folder. says the first uh paragraph which is already there says any person or group having a legitimate interest in the operations of this district shall have the right to present at request or a request suggestion or complaint concerning district

personnel the program or the operations of the district. At the same time, the board of education has a duty to protect its staff from unnecessary harassment. It is the intent of this policy to provide the means for judging each public complaint in a fair and impartial manner and to seek a remedy where appropriate. goes on to talk about misunderstandings and uh chain of command and etc etc. But the suggestion and again I talked to legal after being asked by the board to talk to legal about this policy and the policy again shared here I did share with legal and many of the same things that Dave said were very much concerns almost to the almost same story except it was that a custodian used the f-word in the hallway but very similar um and more

which I could share if if you do decide to go that route but the addition would be all anonymous complaints concerning a staff member will be forwarded to the board president. The board of education will review the complaint to determine whether it is credible and verifiable and whether the allegations appear to violate board policy, administrative guidelines andor the lensure code of professional conduct. If the board determines an investigation is warranted, the information will be given to the director of human resources for investigation. In that same meeting prior to I was asked to bring what the investigation would look like and I believe at that time I did share with you all the standard operating procedures for investigations which is the current practice and in that uh again it would be what we're doing now. So

you receive the letter, you review the letter, it would those parts were currently it's done internally uh would be then to the board and once we would then get it then we would go through the investigation. If the if the uh thoughts are that there's inconsistencies that would solve the inconsistencies. it would then put it into place that the investigation would happen internally which again during a meeting I believe last month there was or maybe it was a work session I don't know but there was talk about who would do the investigation um again the attorneys did say that that needed to be done internally unless it's obviously you know me that would be you guys we're not um but that's where we're at there's more I mean that would be the recommendation again that

would address if that is in fact the issue. So sounds like to me with that said there's already a policy and there's already a process and a procedure and how we should be handling it and perhaps >> that's not existing policy. >> That's not our existing policy. There is a policy that one couple sentences could be added which is I I had made that um addition but that would be added to that policy that's already public complaints and it would address anonymous complaints and how they are viewed. So again if it's a consistency issue then the board would look at each one and determine whether or not it would be investigated and then if it's investigated from the board it would be passed on. The other thing to just make mention of is all the

other reasons that are required by law or whether it's law or another policy that states harassment, child abuse, child endangerment. Um, which again many and Mr. Twist and I sat and met. We looked through a lot of our anonymous letters from the last 13 years and many of them fall under those anyway. So, um, actually I believe all that had con that had discipline to it all fell within one of those other ones. So, >> and they could they don't have to necessarily be an anonymous letter. It could be a phone call. It could be >> correct. It's an anonymous report. >> Any kind of anonymous. >> It does not have to just be written. It could be any way we get that anonymous report. But I would like again if they come in and

they are harassment, we would need to take that and run with that. that would fall underneath a different policy. This is just specifically if it's not under one of those >> policy was one that you were referring to >> 9130 >> I respectfully dis disagree with all was over the 13 years that had discipline >> well we could obviously can't have that discussion now I thought we had that discussion and each one of them we actually came up and said that each one or or they weren't all anonymous. I think that's another point to make. We've had a lot of conversations and again >> sure >> in executive sessions because so everybody listening there's legal things that we can't share uh for you know keeping things private uh for personnel issues um but many of

people think that they hear that something comes in anonymous and it might have been that way but also when there are situations that are reported to administrators. So you get an anonymous complaint, but in the same day or the next day you get reports that come in to administrators that trumps the anonymous letter. Now that's no longer considered an anonymous complaint because you now have reports that come in from different ways. So yeah, so it would be 9130 would be right underneath any requests. So the very next paragraph before matters regarding a professional staff member. Again, all anonymous complaints concerning a staff member will be forwarded to the board president. The board of education will review the complaint to determine whether it is credible and verifiable and whether the allegations appear to violate board policy,

administrative guidelines, and or the licensure code of professional conduct. If the board determines an investigation is warranted, the information will be given to the director of human resources for investigation. And I apologize, I do not have copies of that. I was not aware of. I would also like to just make mention um that the current CWA negotiated agreement has a statement in there about uh anonymous sources. that it states that no information shall be placed in a unit member's personnel file which comes from an anonymous source nor shall such information be made a matter of record which again goes back to there needs to be and I think this is what I'm from your guys' conversation this is what you were referring to so we can't get an anonymous letter and just be like okay

guess what we're disciplining you and you're from just that anonymous letter. >> We would need to have information to be able to investigate it. We would need to be and that's what we do now. We'd need to have credible information and also on top of that, it needs to impact the person's job. So, there needs to be an impact on that person. There's some things that potentially could be outside of the world of that's happening outside uh and it doesn't impact the day-to-day or the fact of that person being in in education or how they interact with students. In that case that's also considered on why we would not investigate that. [snorts] >> I believe in our work session if I'm wrong anonymous complaints we discussed if they came to the board. So in other

words let's say that there was an anonymous complaint tomorrow. All right we aren't going to reconvene for another month >> which is I believe when you give it to the board president the board president has it. That would be as quickly as I could. >> Sure. >> We could get it to the board president and then the board president's going to read that and determine whether it's something that can wait a month or that it needs to be a special meeting. That would be the case of and then at that point you could have a special meeting if it's something that's if it happens tomorrow and we're like can't wait till December then you then the board president would call that special meeting. So it would address that situation of being able to be addressed

in a timely manner. If it's something that isn't, then that would be the decision. Again, that decision would come to the board. So, with that said, do we um do that? So, um the next thing on the agenda um are the CW logos. Um Megan um has gone home for the night, but um >> her birthday just so you'll know. >> That is >> happy birthday, Megan. Um, but we want to table this and um I want to table this and allow for our um administrative staff and um district um administrative staff to um further research this. Um I think Ka had said that they have um there's a consulting agency that works with you. There are a couple other options, but I just don't feel like this is um board business for us to

do the research, to do all the background, and to write a a policy or any kind of procedure on this. I think um we should allow the administrative staff and the athletic uh department to um determine what the school wants to have as a final um approved logo for the for the school district and if necessary it can come back to the board for an approval if it's necessary. But I really think that it's something it's not something as Dave said, it's not a state law. It's not an OC. It's not legislative. It's something that Kaa and the the athletic director and maybe even the students um and the community can be a part of in deciding uh what they want to go with and come up with something and um get a consensus amongst

themselves and put it into action. I don't think that the board has to make that decision. So, um, does anybody think that that's unreasonable for us to let allow it to move forward um under those pretenses for now and see what um Kaia can come back with um if if it needs to come back to the board um or if they I mean, we can always discuss you guys can always discuss this later, but I just want to know >> for the public. Could you just explain what you're talking about? Because I know you said logos, but >> Yes. So, let let's say right now we have two um logos that the school is using. That's the CW and the CW with the the feather. So, let's say they propose to keep those and keep

them as they are. Everybody knows it. They already recognize those. And let's say they want to add another logo um to to that or even two more logos that they want to utilize for uh whatever they want to do um for if it's a T for touchdown club. I don't know. I'm just saying whatever other logo they want to come up with. if they just if the um the the committee that they that she forms um with this consulting company that that helps them through the process with the community and they get people from the community to provide their input. They provide them with samples. They show them these are the things we'd like to utilize. You vote on it. um they talked with the students ever how they do it but it comes as

um a consensus between the students and the community to say we are in agreement now there everybody's not going to be happy everybody's not going to um you know get what they want but it's kind of like uh let's see one of those things where you might vote have all the students vote for a lo um a empowering all students for success maybe you know you You ask all the students, give us your ideas on what you think our slogan should be and then they approve it and we start utilizing it. It doesn't have to come to the school board to get approval for that. It's just something that Kaia decided that we will do this because the 90% of the students wanted to use this version. So, that's what we that's [clears throat] what

I'm proposing that we go with rather than us spending time on um addressing what logos will be part of our school district and be quote unquote copyrighted for our school district because I don't think there's any right now that are really copyrighted or um official and then we make those our official logos moving forward. >> I'm fine with that. I don't think that's unreasonable. Um I would just uh prefer that we go about it in a very respectful way. Um to so that uh the school community can weigh in and also the local Native American um Indian community will also need to weigh in on that. Can I share a little bit more about like just I've had a couple phone calls over the last couple weeks months about this opportunity. It's I would compare

it similarly to something we've done with the master facility planning. So it would be surveys that would be sent out to our students, our staff, our families, our community asking, you know, it it could start as simple as what does it mean to be a Canal Winchester Indian? And there's questions that you ask through okay doesn't you know does the Indian define that for us then do we move forward so we can really build the pride and the community involvement around that um and then at that point we can we can take that feedback and decide what we do next where we go next I think we and again this is Miss Barnes had called me and talked through a little bit about it and I said this is what I would like to present

that we do because then it's not a it's not a me thing it's not emotional for me it's not a you thing it's not it is a it is our community >> collaborative with the community and the school district and the students >> providing what what we do next and and then we go from there and again this is again let me mention this is specific to the school district there is nothing currently that says that a booster club or a team or or a a parent team or whatnot can't sell and design what they want to design. Right now we have we currently use the CW logo and the CW with the feather for feathers athletics and that was back to a branding of ensure I mean even in this you can see it

in here so that when you see that you know it's Canal Winchester so that would be what I would like to present that we do in this moving forward. Um, >> and I'll be I'll be a little bit more clear than that and I I just want may seem a little extreme, but um, you know, like our touchdown club, if they go out and create a t-shirt that has something on it that we totally would not allow our students to put on, just because they branded it and they put that on there doesn't necessarily mean that our students we would allow them to wear that. But that doesn't mean that they can't do it and sell it to whoever they want to. Um, we may not allow them to sell it in our stadium. I

mean, I'm just saying like, uh, for instance, a marijuana leaf. You can't produce, we wouldn't allow someone to produce a t-shirt and sell it in our stadium to our students with something like that on it probably. So, >> yeah, there's already stuff [laughter] in in I believe that. Yeah. >> So, but I'm just saying even some verbiage or some things we might and that's also in policy. So, as long as they're staying within the policy of the school district and they produce something and they want to sell it, it's have at it. Do, you know, do whatever you would like. But whether or not that logo, etc. that they may produce will be used officially on on our uniforms or our students will be required to wear them. Um, is what we will work on.

that part of it to be collaborative and make sure that um it's something that we all agree with and it's collaborative within the school district. >> Are we talking about essentially a new logo to add to these >> because let's just honestly say what we're talking about. We're talking about the Indian head. Okay. >> When we talk about the logos like our branding that we've done, you are right. We've spent a lot of money on the branding of the district and you can see it in the football stadium on the rafts. You can see it at the I mean we've spent a lot on those two logos. So I I am not interested in changing right now. >> I am not interested in changing that for the two logos that we currently have. We would

plan to use those if there were to be an introduction of one. Again, that's where I think we need to have a lot of conversation. Um, I I still will say publicly that I do not believe that an Indian head on a jersey or a game day that we are forcing students to wear is appropriate for beliefs that they have. I actually had a conversation within the last week with somebody that is from here, born and raised, and said to me, it was recent, saw the agenda and asked what it what's that about. and I had already heard about it and knew that we were talking like that it was going to be a conversation around the Indian and said, "Yeah, a a a family member of mine would not allow my child to wear

that if that was on a uniform." And and so I think we just have to be very we have to understand that we all don't feel the same way. We all don't believe the same way. We all don't have those feelings. But when you come to that specific image, a an Indian head on a jersey can be offensive to somebody and they could feel that it's, you know, all the racist and to force somebody to wear that is where I don't believe that we do that. Now, if we introduce a third logo of the Indian head for so that it's a clean version, we've had those discussions around the current maybe the current one doesn't print well, doesn't embroider well. um determining what that Indian head is with research uh which we've already started some

of that conversation but that piece too to move forward on we could we could add that as a additional logo that could be used by you know booster club teams it anybody that's a parent or a coach knows that BSN does the fundraisers every year right and you're only going to sell so many shirts that have the same logo on it like that's just a reality so we're not against I mean this year. I remember seeing all the fall sports scene they put it out. It's not either one of our logos, but it's and as long as it's you can choose to purchase to buy it, different story. So that's where it's more of, you know, are we introducing a third logo in the sense of designing it so that it can be used and

then it gives you the consistency of that's the Canal Winchester Indian moving forward that we would ask if you're going to use it. A little bit on the history though is in 2018 is when these two other logos were were created and added. Correct. >> That's when the branding started. We had an Apple that Columbus City Schools uses at our educational >> Sure. >> logo. So that's when the branding. [clears throat] We didn't have any branding. You could go to the middle school athletic facility and not know where you were. You could go to the high high school field and stand in certain areas and not know exactly where you where you were. you could stand in front of the high school building itself out on Washington Street and not know exactly where you were.

So, it became a branding thing and not just a branding of a logo, adding Canal Winchester to the front of the high school. Uh painting uh the little monument that's out in front of the high school where it was the same color as the brick almost so when you drove by you couldn't see that it was going to win. There's a lot of that just to just to show some pride and say, "Okay, here's consistency in branding and trying to brand our product from an educational standpoint and an athletic standpoint." Like, I think the CW is great from an educational standpoint. I think we're probably speaking more to the athletic branding, I'm assuming. All I wanted to say was those two those two logos were created and added to the kit, if you want to

call it that, uh, in 2018. The practice of using logos didn't change until an incident in August this year, right? August of this year. >> There was no change. There was a miscommunication. There was no change in practice from when that 2018. It was um >> so from 2018 to 2025 everything was as is. We had circle with the CW. We had the circle with the with the feather. >> Correct. >> We had the Indian head. >> Yes. Because the Indian head was added in 2019 in the sign out front or maybe 2020 even right around that time. So the Indian head was still there was still all I'm asking as a board member is that you know we we go back to our pre August 2025 ways of doing things >> and I'm not

opposed to that and we had the conversation. The only thing that I asked is that we not have like I'm good with that if we again branding again we have it out there. My thing is about having it on jerseys and game day apparel. >> I don't believe that's been on It could have been on game day apparel. It wasn't on a uniform though. You're you're you're thinking right. >> I I don't know that. I just said that I don't believe it should be on a uniform where a person doesn't have a choice if they feel away about the Indian head. >> That was my recommendation. And at that point I believe the conversation was no that wasn't okay and we needed to move forward. So my that's where when we have the conversation we

could move forward and again I still think we need to do the community involvement. I think that's an important part for us to build the like just again build the community around it because this topic is not going to go away. We have had it come up every about every four to five years. It is a conversation piece on you know do we have it do we not. So I feel like us going through a process then when we're asked as a board or we're asked as administration are you the Indians? Yes we are and here's what it means to be an Indian and we have that conversation and and we all know it. That's all I that's I would like to go through that process but that's a piece that moving forward we we've

done some research. We're not there yet um to have a finalized, you know, logo, but moving forward, I think that could be a piece. But the conversation around it being on a uniform where a kid would have to wear that uniform, whether they agree or not, is was the conversation piece. >> And to be clear, the uniform wasn't just their shirt and their pants. It was the helmet, too. That is part of their uniform. >> It's their game day. anything that they wear during their game day as part of the uniform. >> I don't have the email to refer to, but your email that came out immediately after this was that we have two logos. >> The circle with the CW and the circle with the with the that was it. So, this is why

this is all coming out now is because of your email at that point in time that said we have two logos. That's it. Period. So, that's >> I'm confused a little bit. We had there was a miscommunication >> y >> from an administrator to the booster club. That's why we're here. During that then there was we were trying to clear up some information. >> Sure. >> And it was currently in the school district. We used two logos that is from our the time that Megan has been here as the director of communications. Again, I don't know how long. Three or I would be off on how long. at that time we have she has only had two logos that are usable and that's what we've used and again we've had a discussion about those two

and the conversations that happened around these are the two logos we're going to use that communication out I don't I don't believe that's what why we're having the conversation because and maybe it is but we had the conversation around moving forward with an Indianet logo and creating one that's usable and that's I call it readable because of the printing >> a vector image. >> Yeah. Right. That can be printed and all that and and we were going to that piece of it and then at some point in time we were that's where we stopped because of the jersey conversation and it having to be on a jersey or if it was chosen to be used on a jersey and that's where the difference of conversation happened. And again from there I don't know where the

conversation happened but I think we still do the community thing but if we can agree to and that would be my recommendation that we can move forward we can put together some research and put together an Indian head and then we we move forward with that. It's there for use but not on game day uniforms. >> Has Megan done some research already? >> Yes. >> Okay. but not enough to report back to the board. >> Correct. She does not have all the information. She did work on what was what is how we get but she is not ready to come back to the board to report on here's the Indian head I would recommend but we need to know like I guess that's the D whether it's that would be my recommendation that we would

move forward with which has been the recommendation for months. So, are we putting a timeline on this? Is there are we going to are we going to just continue to research and re because the last two issues we're sitting here talking about, we've been talking about them forever. So, this has been an issue since the August or even July meeting. Probably July or August. >> It was August before it it didn't even come up until season. Um I was told to table it >> while Megan was doing research on it. That's what and that's why I texted you this week saying, "Can we get an update from Megan on the internet?" >> So, >> my message was that you wanted to put this on the agenda to be discussed. >> I don't remember having an

a text about Megan providing you with information. So, >> fair enough. I I'd have to go back and verify that, but that was my hope that we would have some sort of presentation on where we are in the process. >> I was not aware of that. I was informed to have it on as an agenda item. >> I wasn't aware that we were >> on agenda item. >> I never said that Megan was going to have a report, but I did ask for it to be on here. it was birthday and she's um but I did know that I wanted to propose that we table it and let the administrative staff work on a logo that would be presentable for the community, the district, and um everybody as a whole as as opposed to us

listening to what Megan provides us and making a decision from that or deciding what we're going to do. I didn't think that that was something that the board needed to make a decision on and I felt it was better for a collaborative discussion where everyone else would have an input on it since it is such a sensitive subject in our community. Um, so does anyone disagree with me or do we are you all okay with allowing the administrative staff to look at it and then when do we think we would like to have and do you feel like we need to have an answer back? We want to just be reported back to us what the status of it is. Um, whatever you ever whatever you guys would like to do that's I would there

any input on that? I would just like to have a date as to when we're going to be hearing back and getting some information. So, I would hope by the January meeting we could we could have information by then. >> I would suggest keeping Adam involved with the the committee or the planning committee because that way he would have firsthand knowledge of what the status is and how it's going. And similarly, if you said that um you would approach it like you did the master facilities, there was the steering committee >> and um if you're using that format, which I think is a great idea, then um I think just two board members would be on the steering committee and Adam could certainly be one of them. >> Yes, >> that would be a great

way to to make sure that he stays engaged. So timelinewise for moving forward, November, December, you don't usually get very good survey as we talk through. We need to pick and determine who we're going to use to lead us in that um through that. So we were looking at a January start date of putting that together. But I I don't want to give a date now of where Megan is on the research and when she can. But what I'll do is I'll talk to her um this tomorrow, this week, and then I'll get you a date on when she believes that that's something that she can have together. >> I appreciate it. >> What's the goal for an end result? I mean, let's say you come up with an end head. Is it to use?

Is it to put on the uniforms? Is it to what's the what's the end goal, I guess, of the the branding? Again, >> from the board's perspective, >> my perspective, I don't know about the board, but my perspective is since 2018, we've had three logos that were accessible. Now, were they used all three of them in all situations? No. Uh, but now we don't have that third option. It's not even an option. So, that's >> hasn't been And again, I won't and you can >> came from that was actually an oopsie. We were informed not to use the to only use two levels. We >> were supposed to get it covered right away to do and we never did. >> The superintendent >> superintendent >> we were told in 2018 that we were no longer

using that. We for athletics we were using the feather and we were using the CW and that was it. So I believe that was an oopsie out there. But again, I don't know. >> It was No, it was we were supposed to Jim was supposed to >> prior superintendent >> that was supposed to get logo decals to go over them almost immediately. >> Could it be that >> pandemic hit and we had other say could it be that it was in progress at the time and he just couldn't change the you know because it is >> pandemic hit. Okay. >> The only other one is the iron on the fence. Um, >> no. Well, there's they're everywhere. They are. I took pictures of lots of them, and I talked about it, but they are. The

big ones to replace would be the irons on the fence on the on the gate as you go into the stadium. >> I believe there's also one on the high school. >> There is. There is. >> I know. I personally have a a logo folder that was sent out in 18 as part of branding and I don't have an Indian head anywhere in there. It's I can't I can't find where that I can't find the logo that's on our checks. Right. >> I know there have been logos the Indian head logo used on coaches [snorts] here through those years. >> Yeah. And again I don't know like that again is whether it's booster. I'm just from the knowledge and my what I knew and what I was told at that time. >> That's what we

were told at that time. So and and again there wasn't a district communication out. It was simply you're not using these this these are the two you're using and that's what we followed up until there was and that was up until August of a miscommunication. There was no change in practice. That was a miscommunication to the booster club. So that's the history. So the third logo again I I we were told to. So, when that email was sent out, that was it. If there was a third used, I'm not aware of [snorts] I know there are some. We've we talked. I know there are some, but >> I'm sure in your books, I look back in those years as well. Probably Indian heads all over the yearbooks. >> I think they're all I think that

one on this sign and the one on the check and the on our checks and then the one on the gate are all three different >> probably. >> Yeah. >> There's no consistency. >> No. So I think >> that's what we'll be looking for >> to have one >> one goal would be to to have some consistency >> that is considered a part of the branding package. >> It be it'll be one that'll be part of the pack branding package and then but not one but but and that'll be you guys' decision or the athletic director's decision. But um I I believe that the athletic director has the authority and the ability to say what can and can't go on uniforms. Um especially when it might offend somebody. So um but that doesn't mean we

can't have a logo that's official and consistent with within the district that we're using. Any other questions? All right. Um, at this point we're going to go into executive session for the um to consider employment and performance of public employees and to consider complaints involving a public official. Um, we will reconvene into session after um the executive session and then adjourn. >> No additional action will be taken >> and no additional action will be taken. Guys need a break. >> Motion second. >> Oh, motion. Let's get the motion. >> Adam, >> second. >> Can we get a vote, please? >> Yeah. Mr. Swiss. >> Yes. >> Mr. George? >> Yes. >> Miss Barnes? >> Yes. Miss Green. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Tally. >> Yes. >> I got to use bathroom. Give me about five minutes.

Meet you.
