All right. Welcome. Whoa, it's very loud. So, welcome Carell students and parents and family members to the CRA 2026 award ceremony. I am Karen Grooms, the CR treasurer, and I'm here on behalf of the Carile Educational Recognition Association, CRA. I want to say congratulations to the students for your academic achievement and being eligible for CRA. And I want to thank all those who made today possible. You will receive your CRA certificate today from your community who want to recognize your academic achievement and say how very proud we are of you. I want to take this time to recognize our C officers. Marilyn Brown, President Penny Stewart, vice president and social media coordinator. Once you read your name, please come forward to receive your certificate. Then return to your seat. And let's see, 11th grade, you're
going to come up this ramp and cross this way. And then seniors, you'll come this way for us up the ramp. After the ceremony, um, we would like to take a group photo to post on our social media. If you'd like to participate, please stand. Um, if you do not, just stay remain in your seats. I would now like to introduce Marilyn Brown to provide more information about CRA and why we're here to honor you today. Okay. Good morning again, juniors, seniors, parents, and other relatives. Um, let me welcome you again to our CRA awards ceremony for 2026. We're happy to be here to recognize your academic achievement. Again, I'm Marilyn Brown, president of CRRA Karen Groom's Treasure. Our helper back there is Janelle. She was a member of CRA back in the 90s. I
want to send a big thank you out to Mr. Huber for allowing us to have this ceremony today. And a big thank you to Angie for sending out our invitations via final forms and to Quinn Hammock for recording the ceremony for us. So juniors and seniors this year you got your invitation via final forms again. And you might have thought now what is this organization again? Just let me take a few minutes to refresh your memory about our organization. As Karen said, CRA stands for Curly Educational Recognition Association. That's why we call it C Cra because it is a mouthful. The purpose of the organization is to provide recognition to students in grades 7 through 12 who made honor or merit role for three of the last four grading periods. And one of these three
must be honor role. We use the fourth nine weeks of your previous grade and the first three nine weeks of your current grade to determine eligibility. Another purpose is to award scholarships to eligible seniors. Any senior that has been a member of CRA for six years is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applications were given to 35 eligible seniors this year and 12 students completed and returned their application and essay. Let me say that I'm very proud of the 12 students that took the initiative to apply and a group of 14 people have ranked them and the three students that received the highest score will be awarded a scholarship at the high school awards assembly on May 13th. Juniors, next year you may be given an application if you stay on track. Right now, there
are 42 of you that could be eligible to apply. As you may know, college or a technical school is expensive. You need to take every opportunity you are presented with to get free money. CRA has actually been in existence for about 60 years. My own kids were in CRA almost 30 years ago. And some of your parents or grandparents if they went to Carlile school may have been in C cra when they were in school. At that time I was involved in the organization as a parent and a teacher. About eight years ago I discovered that CRA CRA wasn't an active organization anymore. So a small group of ladies have been working since then to revitalize the organization. We started with no money in 2018. We have had several fundraisers over the last eight years
to change that situation. We have also received support from various businesses and individuals which are listed on the back of your program. So please, please, please support those businesses that want to support your academic achievements. Our current fundraiser is taking orders for watch me grocerers for incoming kindergarten students. A couple of other fundraisers we've had is selling smi smils and smins and having a gan week for the teachers. Last year we gave out 430 certificates and awarded two scholarships. This year we will be giving out 397 certificates and awarding three scholarships. Students, if your parents aren't here, be sure to share the certificate that you received today and your program with your parents. You should be very proud of your accomplishments and we are very proud of you. Keep up the good work. And seniors,
best wishes to you as you begin a new chapter in your life as high school graduates. Students, also let your parents know that the ceremony is being recorded and will be played on Kalile's YouTube channel. I think that's probably about enough for now. So, let's get on with recognizing those juniors and seniors that are now a member of CRA. One last thing, we do want to apologize in advance if we mispronounce your name or have it spelled wrong in the program. I will read the names of the juniors first. And again, uh Karen said, "Juniors, you're going to come up this ramp and across this way and down. And then we'll do the seniors. Yes. And hold your applause till the very end, please.
