Good morning again, freshman, sophomores, parents, and other relatives. Uh let me welcome you to our CRA awards ceremony for 2026. We're so happy to be here to recognize your academic achievement. Again, I'm Marilyn Brown, president of CRA and Karen Grooms, our treasure. Our other helper back there is uh Janelle, a member of CRA back in the 90s. I want to send out a big thank you to Mr. Huber for allowing us to have the ceremony here today. A big thank you to Angie Bo for sending out our invitations via final forms and to Quinn Hammock for recording the ceremony. So freshman and sophomores, you were you were sent an invitation via final forms this year and you probably thought now what is this organization again? I forget what it's about. Well, let me tell tell
you a little bit again about our organization to refresh your memory. CRA stands for Kile Educational Recognition Association. The purpose of the organization is to provide recognition to students in grades 7 through 12 who make honor or merit role three of the three of the last four grading periods and one of these must be honor roll. We use the fourth nine weeks of your previous grade and the first three nine weeks of your current grade to determine eligibility. Another purpose of CRA is to award scholarships to eligible seniors. Any senior that has been a member of CRA for six years is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applications were given to 35 eligible seniors and 12 students completed and returned their application and essay. A group of 14 people ranked them and the three students
that receive the highest score will be awarded a scholarship at the high school awards ceremony on May 13th. CRA has actually been in been in existence for about 60 years. My own kids were in CRA about 30 years ago and probably uh a lot of your parents if they grew up in Carlile could have been in CRA many years ago. At that time I was involved in the organization as a parent and a teacher and about eight years ago I discovered that the organization wasn't an active organization anymore. So, a small group of ladies have been working since then to revitalize the organization. We started with no money in 2018. We've had several fundraisers over the last eight years to change that situation. We have also received support from various businesses which are listed on
the back of your program. So, please, please, please support those businesses that want to support your academic achievements. Our current our current fundraiser is taking orders for watch me grocerers for incoming kindergarten students. And we've had some other fundraisers selling smils and sman week for the teachers. Last year we gave out 430 certificates and awarded two scholarships. This year we will be giving out 397 certificates and awarding three scholarships. Students, be sure to share your certificate that you received today and your program with your parents if they are not here. You should be very proud of your accomplishments and we are very proud of you. So, keep up the good work. Students, also let your parents know that the ceremony is being recorded and will be played on Carlile's YouTube channel. I think that's enough
information for now. So, let's get on with recognizing those ninth and tth grade students that are now a member of CRA. One last thing, we want to apologize in advance if we mispronounce your name or have it spelled wrong in the program.
