007>> Yes. Mrs. Winger? >> Yes. All right. And number eight on your agenda is our treasurer's report, and then we'll roll right into number nine in the treasurer's consent agenda. Okay. Um for the month of March, uh revenue was uh short from expenditures. The main reason for this was um during the month of February, we were overpaid in our tax settlement by 535,000. We had to pay that back to the county auditor. So, um that put us right where we should be for property taxes, but it was overstated in February, and then the expenses were then overstated in the month of March. Um and then figuring up for the year, um after going through all of my stuff, and then um the county auditor going through them, we still owe them an additional 15,000 that

008we were overpaid. So, for the second half of property taxes, which we'll get in like late August, um that initial 15,000 will be deducted right off the top before we receive any kind of settlement from the county auditor. Um it's Yeah, that was a quite an experience for all of us and the the county. Uh but, moving here forward, um I think that I I know that it'll be um much easier and they have a different program now to do the tax settlements. So, um that is all settled, thank goodness. Thank you for giving it back. That's nice of you. Yeah, that was um that was not not really fun, but it's okay. Um the other part that I do have uh was my I would like to continue with Sedgwick for my claims management

009for BWC. I would like to total $10 from last year. Uh they do a fantastic job for um even the reporting, everything through BWC. I'd like to continue with them. And then, on my second part, I I know uh on my second I know that these need to be voted on separately, is that I do have the insurance premiums for our next full year. Um the insurance rates did come at 8 and 1/2% for medical insurance and 31.78% I believe, yes, for dental. So, dental went up from $90 to $119. And then, um family went up around $260, I believe. And then, uh single went up 40. So, um those premiums will go into effect in the first pay of June, cuz June pays for July. Um along with that, I did give you a

010quite lengthy report on the self-insurance. Uh the stop loss will be going from $35,000 to $50,000. Stop loss is when a claim may come and the claim is $50,000 and we will pay the claim at 50,000, but the insurance will reimburse us back anything over that 35. So, that $15,000 will be given back to us. In order to get that 8 and 1/2% I had to agree to move our stop loss from 35 to 50. 50 is still considerably lower than a lot of additional school districts. A lot of schools are right around between the 75 to even 125,000 for stop loss. Um so, going from 35 to 50, uh I expressed my um unwillingness to do it, but I did do it to get the 8 and 1/2% increase instead of the they were

011going it was a little bit higher than 10 that they wanted us to go for. So, um that is my second item on the agenda is for the medical reimbursements. And that's all that I have. Okay. So, we've got a couple different motions through this just the nature of what we're approving tonight. So, we'll start with number nine A and B. And we'll do motions and then if there's questions we can go from there. So, if I could have a motion to approve the treasurer's consent agenda letters A and B. So moved. Second. Mr. Napier? Yes. Mr. Bowen? Yes. Mr. Paul? Yes. Mrs. Lindeman? Yes. Mrs. Wagner? Yes. Thank you. Okay. So, number 10 on your agenda, letter A. If I do A, B, and C, okay? A, B, and C. A, B, and C

012all together. A motion to approve all three of us. I'm there. Sorry. Mrs. Weiner? Yes. Mr. Napier? Yes. Mr. Bowman? Yes. Mr. Madison? Oh, yes. Sorry. I'm abstaining. Yes. >> Yep. Mr. Paul? Yes. Mrs. Lindeman? Yes. We're on the insurance. I forgot. Yep. Thank you for the reminder. >> Thank you. >> Yep. Yep. Okay. We're going to move into number 11, which is our superintendent's report, followed by number 12, superintendent's consent. Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the board meeting. Uh I'd like to start off and just say it's the month of April and I think we have over about 5 weeks left of school. So, if you're if you're lacking for the order or need something to do, there's something I guarantee you that will be at the school or off the side of

013the ball field or the track maybe every day, if not every day. So, plenty of things going on, I'm sure. Superintendent's report will share about some of those. But, I would like to call out one um special event coming up this Friday. That would be April 17th, 9:15 a.m. at the high school gymnasium. It is the sixth annual Hall of Honor uh where we will be inducting five new inductees into that. So, that'll be a special ceremony. The committee has been working extremely hard over the past year. Um and I'm really looking forward to that event and having our uh junior and senior students will be attending that as well. So. You'll have a chance to stop by and stop by the gym on uh Friday afternoon or Friday morning uh for that. And what

014time? Here, 9:15 is start time. 9:15 a.m. on Friday, April 17th. Come a little bit early and meet uh meet the inductees and their families. So. Uh as far as uh like I said, there'll be so many There's so many things going on. A lot of the principals and administrators take care of that, they'll do that. But, I would like to call out a a special piece here. I put the copy in front of you of class rank and uh academic honors. Mr. Shoemaker has been working on this with the building leadership team really in the past year. And one of the special emphasis here this past spring we went to it. Uh, he put this in your board report and I'd like him to share a little bit more. I know there was some

015some feedback from you. Uh, but I want to turn it over to him at this point. So, thank you, Mr. Shoemaker. So, this is one one piece we've been working on. There's several others that you guys have been I've sent out before. Um, but this stems from uh, there's the book that came back in '23 '24, the Ohio guaranteed admissions, which is your top 10% and then, um, the Governor's Merit Scholarship, which top So, that was new again, new in '23 '24, uh, my first year. Um, and we were using the procedure put forth, uh, by the state in order to rank who received, uh, who received those, uh, that top five and top 10. But, we really didn't have anything. We were pretty much using the criteria here. We just defined it better and

016also just having it be in policy we felt like would be a good thing. And just so we have a a clear way of how we're going to rank students. So, um, again, like before, um, highest GPA, uh, completion of four advanced courses. Uh, we did add on because we do have, um, additional CTAG courses. So, we did add that the, um, on with the engineering and ag, uh, which would be as long as they pass whatever they need to be, uh, college credit. Um, highest ACT. Now, this would be different. So, this is why if you look down um, to that third asterisk under note, um we would we would start ranking, but it wouldn't affect Val Sal until that class of 30 cuz it has our coming in as freshmen. Um but that

017would We would then rank highest ACT or SAT score. Um we would use that as a tiebreaker for rank um for the top 5 and 10%. Right now, for Val Sal, that's just if you just meet the 27, that puts you in that category. So, if you if we approve this then come class 30, you would be it'd be much more unlikely to have multiple Val Sals. It would they would have to pretty much tie um for that. And then uh we did that we did see even if you do for that, we did see that some schools put in um which we we did kind of like total number of high school credits earned as even a further objective tiebreaker to encourage students to take more classes um than they're not doing the bare

018bare minimum. Again, if if you're already in that top three, you're probably not doing the bare minimum in that those, but still just one more try to objective way to determine who those uh that top 5 and 10% Um then since we already have the top 5 and 10, we thought about going doing away with um the graduating with honors with honors and this would be our graduation honors. It would be the uh the Latin honors, the top 5, 10, 15%. Um and then being able to call them up on stage for for graduation So, I think I think that's about it. We also on the back, we have an academic letter. Um there's still a little bit of discussion around that. Uh I like I like where it put the GPA. Um right now

019we have it after the fourth semester. Uh and being able to go over with at least five courses. Um there is we have discussed whether we want to do that or we want to do that after the freshman year. So, we're we're a little bit mixed and that's probably what we'll look for some feedback, too. Um schools do it do it different ways whether you want to have like a first-year letter and after freshman year or sophomore year, junior, senior. Um we thought this doing it after this would show some consistency just in that one year then you get a letter and then you don't. Uh you you have So, we thought at least that showed 2 years of consistent um academic work uh to get that get that So, um we took out some

020language we we based this purely on the GPA and academics. We did we took out some language that we were going to put in behavior and attendance. Yeah, so I have if if there is any feedback, um we will want to take it back to to our uh VLT and Question. So, I obviously done some some research. Is is it pretty standard like in determining val and sal is it pretty standard to have the ACT and SAT part of that? I'd say in from most schools who are still doing val and sal that that that does play into it. Um there are some schools who have done some other uh creative things, but when it comes to breaking the tie especially even on the uh Governor's Merit Scholarship, they they they recommend using standardized tests.

021So, is our goal is our goal really to try to only have one and one? I wouldn't say that's the goal. If we want to do class rank and get that true top five, 10, then >> then how do we like how do we actually get cuz what we we we we we did in the past couple years with especially with when it comes to the Governor's Merit Scholarship, the top five and 10, we could run into scenarios where we have it's going to be hard to we have more people more than five more than our 5% who meet those qualifications. So, if we want to get a a more of a true rank without ties, that's how we would do it. So, I wouldn't say it's a it wasn't a goal, but it's a

022consequence of having a rank. Does that help? >> But, that wasn't what we we weren't we weren't seeking to limit valedictorian, but that's how that it would work out like that. But, it would still exist in or leave and they would be with this 5 10 15. Yes. So, like in our heads just how this one like put up for graduation we call the the the students who weren't in the top five or 10 or 15 um and then we call the 10, call the five, and then when the five are up then we can do the medals for the valedictorian while we were sharing with the top five on stage. Would be our But, again that wouldn't that wouldn't take So, everyone's under the same we wouldn't be able to do that till they

023wouldn't be able to start until an incoming freshman class. So, everyone's playing with the same set of rules and and know those rules going into their freshman year. So, one more question. It's probably a dumb question, but uh so, with number four, total number of high school credits earned. So, that is to break a tie? Yeah, that's pretty much just we were thinking cuz we saw this and we thought, well, there could be there could be potentially tie breakers or that that there could be ties there. Could there be one more criteria we could throw in that would be not so objective? We can go over the fair song sheet and say like consider leadership experiences, consider like, well, what how do you what's an Eagle Scout versus president of the So, like it's how

024do you that felt subjective. So, we want to try to come up with one more objective way to break a tie. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I get that. I don't know if I love that, but I like just with this much just kids are involved and I don't know if I love like one kid took one more class than another one, but if you get to that point and it's still tied, pretty impressive. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> You were in the triple tiebreaker. Yeah. I Yeah, just personally, I don't know if I love it, but I I understand what you know. Trying to get to there. And we're And we're open to changes. I mean, we're not This is This is what a draft and what we came up with. So, if you if you

025want to send us those, we can we'll take that back and we're we're not not married to this right now. But, we wouldn't mind I mean, it would be I do I really do like the Latin honors. I like the I like the 5, 10, and 15 and it aligns well with what's going on with the state right now. So, if we could get some language in the in the books for next year, at least being able to have that in place. And then so parents also know like if they have kids who are competing for the Governor's Merit Scholarship, this they know what criteria they're they're going to be looking at. So, you would start the Latin honors next year, and then the it's just the Val Sal would still fall under the current

026until 2015. We we could still rank them this way. >> Right. But, Val Sal would still be that 27 would be the the threshold. We wouldn't be using it to break Right. And again, that could be up for we could And I'll take any feedback that Well, I know you've put a ton of work into this cuz you've sent it to us a couple times, I think, already. >> Well, this doesn't go with the We're still working out There's still some details with pluses and minuses and how we're going to count those and there's still some of those where we're we're hung up with still, I think, as a as a committee on what we want. So, until we're clear on that, this We felt like this was let the We pretty much came to

027an agreement on this. So, there's still some other things before we bring the next set to you. Sure. I think once we And then I'm not saying you guys don't know this, but I think like this is a you know, there's there would be some changes. You know, you guys would probably tweak some stuff or bring it back. You know, when it gets approved, I would just love to see our communication out there to let people know, "Hey, here's what this looks like." So that everybody knows when this goes into effect and um can have everything in front of them to know that because you you do have you know, I'm not saying everybody, but you do have people that are, you know, locked into this and um I want to make sure that we

028we don't end up senior year second semester having somebody say, "Oh, I didn't know." So >> Yeah. And that's the nothing to do with part two, like you said, uh the communication. Yeah. We wouldn't for the for the incoming freshman class, that would be a that would be a part of that >> Yeah, for sure. >> that that orientation. Uh make sure we lay lay that out and it wouldn't necessarily affect the the graduating with honors. In fact, it might mean it would actually would limit that pool a little bit looking at the numbers as of today. Um if we look at the top 15% and that takes place of graduating with honors, we would have less students graduating with honors using this criteria, probably 10 to 12 but at least right now less students

029graduating with honors under this criteria. But getting an academic letter. I love the academic letter thing. Um so the academic letter >> would just be a one-year letter. It wouldn't be like multi-year like >> we we we we could do as it is right now, you could earn it your junior year, earn it your going into your junior year and senior year. Um but it'd be it'd be nice. Some schools do >> for your freshman and sophomore year. We were going to do it at halftime. Okay. Yes. Yes, at halftime. We thought if if if you earned it after your sophomore year, could it be like before football game or at halftime and and uh it then or if you want to do it after your freshman year. Again, we're not necessarily sold on the

030time. What do you guys think is some feedback on what you want to order after your freshman year and have a first or second term of the year after the letter or Take it back. I'm just kidding. Give me your letter We can draw it, take it off your jacket. Take it off your jacket. I'm just kidding. So, with the academic letter, I know you're still working through that. Um that could depend like when when are you thinking that could take effect? >> I really would like to do it as next year. I mean, I don't think really we like everything. I mean, right now we like it the way that it is, but we're open to it if you want to drop that down a year or keep it where it's at. Really, other

031than that, I mean, we looked at a lot of other schools and we're right where we're at. We're right where we're at. Um some schools do have a behavioral or an fitness fees, but we we had it in there and we took it out. Like, we did if this is going to be academic letter, it's going to be academic. It's not going to take some other things into consideration. Like, it would be a sport. I mean, it's we looked at the athletic handbook and it's pretty much you play this many quarters, you get an academic letter. We're not Right. Any other thing? One thing is that this will be policy, but also be in the handbook. Yes. So, they students and parents sign off on that as well. Yeah. I mean, not everybody reads that,

032but I mean, that's that's kind of that Well, I think even giving them a heads-up that it is in there so that they can look at that. >> Right. I I agree. But, I'm just saying you do have you have your bases covered as well. Yeah. We can't police everybody and make sure that they read it, but they sign off on it. It's great. Thank you for all your work on it and the committee. I'm working on it, too. Yeah, no, they have. They've done they've done a nice job. Okay. Good. Sorry for that. you. Okay. Thank you. Okay, consent agenda. Quite a few items here. Try to be efficient. Items A through F all are resignations that we have received, resignations and retirements. Uh item G would be E-rate bids for um Northern Buckeye

033Educational Council with that being a 5-year contract. And then item H is your amount solutions. That would be your master service agreements, schedule one and schedule two. And also your um FEMA score donation. Those are annual approvals that are updated annually. Item I would be your final reading of the new or policies that we reviewed and presented last month for a first reading. Then item J would be a administrative stipend for interim elementary principal. Items K um would be your contract renewals. As you can see there, the 1-year, 2-year, 3, 4, and extended service days for uh the next school year. Also, our classified staff, we have uh recommendation there for your 2-year contracts. Continuing. Also, the retire rehire, uh the 1-year contract, and then exempt contracts as well. Item L would be your new

034employment. Which would be Maddie Boyd as high school Spanish teacher. Again, verifying experience, all those that come with that. And then also we have a classified summer help, Mary Overholt and Whitney Snyder. Item M is to approve substitute nurses there. We've been working hard on on those. And then item N would be your classroom field trip chaperones and volunteers for the '25 uh '26 school year for the Washington D.C. trip and then also elementary. Item O would be to non-renew the resolution to non-renew our supplemental contracts for this past year of '25-'26. Item P would be all the students taking college credit plus that we have for the '26-'27 school year. Quite a few there. And then to be voted on separately would be another a chaperone field trip for I'm sorry, for a volunteer

035for the choir field trip. Also college credit plus student for '26-'27 school year. And I item S would be for contract services agreement between Frederick Town High School and the Career Technical Education or at the Knox Technical Center. This will be a we will be able to provide these course offerings to senior students beginning next year. Uh CTE programs through public safety which would be firefighting one and two, EMT basic, phlebotomy, medical system and also nursing aid training and competency program. So that is a nice piece, nice addition there for for our high school, for our seniors. They have additional opportunities. I will go ahead and jump to the addendum. Sure. Okay. I'm trying to keep it all straight with you guys. Okay. And there we would have two we had one resignation and one

036retirement. Retirement of Colleen Branch. She's been with us for 28 years. So we can call that one out and celebrate that as well. A lot of experience there. Thank you for your service to our town, students, and schools. Item B is a also a just a recent hire, which would be replacing Mrs. Katherine Bird, who worked in the elementary high school music teaching area at home. And then supplemental contract, crossing guard, and also item W there is a motion to change the regular board meeting of May May 12th to May 11th, Monday, May 11th, due to conflict. We're waiting to get that approved, and hopefully that Item 15 that would be voted on separately from the addendum would be uh College Credit Plus, that's a very important one there. No. Okay, College Credit Plus. That's

037not And then also uh to approve the collective bargaining agreement with the FBA for 2% base salary increase for 2 years. Uh It'll be for 26.7 and 27.8. You almost got there. This is I think the second time you were almost to Z. We didn't quite get there. Close. Try again. Okay. Good. I think we can put that here. So, for discussion purposes, should I go up Motion to second. Motion. Yeah, I know, but for I'll just do the original number 12. Do A through A through P first. Okay. All right, so motion to approve Superintendent's Consent Agenda A through P. So moved. Second. All right. Any questions for Mr. Chapman? Discussion? Every pre-attainment college dual credit I'm very glad this is you making this because all the students I have in college credit classes

038are pretty self-explanatory. That's where all the kids take their college credit classes. Is that correct? Is there a prerequisite for all the classes? Um there there is a pre-req um and they also would need to take the they have to take the Accuplacer test for at least English and math in order to take them. And there there is a set of pre-requisites that would get you that you wouldn't have to take the Accuplacer but I have to look up what those are. You know but a lot of our students They're we just don't know whether they have to take the Accuplacer or not. Yeah, I mean but I do I do do the math but my question concerns me is how junior high kids are taking college credit courses. That might be a question for

039them. If they pass the Accuplacer Yes, they can. Okay, we Yeah, that's that's my question. How junior high kids Yeah, it's open for grades That's why I was so they have passed that as pre-requisite for the classes. Yeah, for the for the one like like I said I have to look at this in more detail but for the typically the classes that they would take they have to pass the Accuplacer to get into those first level courses. Okay, good that was Yeah. But yeah, it's open starting in seventh grade. Okay. But if you fail those you have to re-purchase the test. Right. Yep. Yep. Yep. So So yeah, I just Yeah, I just Yep. I had another question I was wondering about that. Yeah. Just keep questions. Any other questions? Just before we get into

040the motion filing. No? No. All right, then we're ready. Okay, is it a sure shirt? Yeah. I abstain. I abstain. Okay, so I think we're ready for vote. I'm going to take that as we're ready. All right, Mr. Napier. Yes. Mrs. Winger. >> Yes. Mr. Bowman. Yes. Mr. Polk. Yes. Mrs. Lindeman. Yes. Okay. So now we're going to I'm going to entertain a motion for number 13 Q through S. >> No, it's Q. >> Just Q. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Just Q. Yep. Motion. So moved. Second. Mr. Bowman. Yes. Mr. Polk. We're on Q, correct? I abstain. Yep. Mr. I'm all confused now. Mrs. Lindeman. >> Yes. Mrs. Winger. Yes. Okay, thank you. Okay, now a motion for 13 R. So moved. Second. Okay. Mr. Bowman. Yes. Mr. Polk. Yes. Mrs. Lindeman. Yes. Mr. Napier.

041Yes. Mrs. Winger. >> Abstain. Thank you. Okay, and now a motion for 13 S. So moved. Second. Don, you'll have to second that one. Don is seconding. I'll second. Yes. Mrs. Winger. Yes. Mr. Polk. Yes. Mr. Bowman. Abstain. Mrs. Lindeman. >> Yes. Mr. Napier. Abstain. Okay. So you three get together. Yep. All right, So, number 14 T through W a motion, please. Second. Mr. Napier? Yes. Mr. Bowman? Yes. Mr. Paul? Yes. Mrs. Lindeman? >> Yes. Mrs. Winger? >> Yes. I have to say yes or no today. Um number 15 X and this X. Yep. Need a motion, please. So moved. Second. Mr. Bowman? Yes. Mrs. Winger? >> Yes. Mr. Paul? Abstain. Mrs. Lindeman? Yes. Mr. Napier? Yes. And 15 Y. Motion to approve, please. So moved. Second. Mr. Paul? Yes. Mr. Napier? Yes. Mr. Bowman?

042Abstain. Mrs. Lindeman? Yes. Mrs. Winger? Yes. Okay. Not really, but it's okay. All right. One of my favorite parts of the agenda. I couldn't take away from you, I'm so sorry. So, number 16 is our committee reports. And I'm going to kick us off with um update from the career center. I'm going to look at my phone for something that I screenshotted instead of rewriting it all down. I did not I attended the March 12th meeting. Did not attend last week's meeting and bounced over to the track meet and then to our faith angle, but so pretty stuff trumps career center meeting when there's stuff going on. So, um at the March 12th meeting, um I'm going to pull up my phone for this one. Um one of the highlights um of that meeting was

043the um counselors receive the American School Counselor through the American School Counselor Association. They were awarded a recognition um that now they're one of four schools to earn what's called the ramp designation. So, there's a lot of criteria and I won't say box checks, but things that they're doing. Um I think we all are aware that those services um in all of our entities um are needed and um so, just a a congratulations to their counselors for that recognition. They'll be actually heading to um New Orleans um middle of July to receive that recognition. So, that's a national recognition and they're like I said, the Career Center counselors are one of four um in the state of Ohio. So, that was pretty exciting. Again, did not attend the last meeting, but um I'm I would

044be probably shocked if it wasn't shared out that um US Senator uh Marrano was uh in the building over spring break and the Career Center is um potentially looking at some federal funds, which is a really um big deal if there's federal funds and when the federal funds are released and all the things, but um happened to be on an advocacy call for another organization that the Career Center was chatted about on that call. And it's a pretty big deal for the county. I mean, you've got a US Senator that's looking um to support. It's a welding I think believe it's a mobile welding um opportunity and they're already looking. Um he really likes the way that it's kind of structured um and maybe looking to duplicate that so that um could be a really

045a regional or state thing. So, that's pretty exciting. Um from my understanding, too, it's like when once the county is recognized for funds like that and we're just wonderful to work with, hopefully we can capture some other dollars and we always celebrate when anybody um state or federal that, you know, they put funds in our county. So, that's exciting. We're also um applying for some capital budget money, um which again, you know, we didn't Nobody in the county received any of those dollars when they were in the state budget a couple years ago, so I'm going to celebrate all wins of getting money that is not just allocated to schools to to better our our county and region quite honestly, so that's my report on the Career Center. Um to bounce over to next is

046the FCDF and I do have a few things um on that. I sent you all an email with links. Um the Olivia Toth came and spoke. She is the executive director of the Knox County Convention and Visitors Bureau and you all have I think it with you there. She passed these out. Um the county or her organization prints these every 2 years, so it's a really good guide. Um Fredericktown is featured, actually the Brick House um is featured in here. So, it's their adventure guide sheet. Um presented that and she also presented um foot traffic um and it was really small, which is why I sent you the link, but it looks like this when you open it up and it talks about um you know, what the the Tomato Show traffic, the Spring Fling,

047which is coming up this coming Saturday, um the Harvest Fest, those types of thing and and what that traffic looks like. Um she's someone to listen to. She gives good information. So, click on those links. I think that another link that was in there had to do Oh, I had them printed here. Hello. Um Community Impact Award report, the Knox County Adventure Guide, and then the American 250 Knox Voices project. Um that's going to be fun. There's a lot going on with the 250th across the state. Um Knox County is doing some fun things. We're going to have banners that will be branded throughout the county. So, Fredericktown, Danville, Centerburg, Mount Vernon, I think will all have similar a similar banner, a little bit different colors, some red, some blue. Um that's going to be

048fun. And then the Knox County CVB partner newsletter, um that link and you're able to sign up to get that um emailed to you. So, I encourage you to do all that. It's It's good stuff. She had good things to report out. Um in addition, the 43019 magazine, the May edition, will be hitting mailboxes that first week of May. Um and this is our first time giving our Freddy Flash students the opportunity. They have two articles um in the magazine. Thought that might be a better use of the space. Um also with QR codes because that is an online publication. Um they did They're doing it They did an article on who is the Freddy Flash. Um I thought that was probably a good place to start so people know what that is. And then

049their second article um is on the manufacturing engineering ribbon cutting. So, um they did a great job with both of those articles. We love you having that in the magazine. Um also featured is the is TD Landscape um as a spotlight business, um historical society and their shift over. Um I will tell you on May 13th, it's a Wednesday, at noon is going to be a ribbon cutting um for the new historical society. Um I had an opportunity They were open actually this last Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00, but Katie and I snuck in and got some pictures for the magazine, and it is well done. Um I I can't wait. I know our third graders take They get They get in the historical society for that. Yeah. There is so much room in there

050now. Like it is displayed nice. It's There's just It's well done. You're going to want to peek in there and check that out. Um FC DEF is partnering with Danville and Centerburg. Um not on the basketball court, not on the football field, but we are from a business standpoint. Um and we're going to be putting on a joint marketing event. Um FC DEF and their two organizations looking forward to that. And I can't read my writing down there. Oh, we are we're actually in a transition of some leadership here in Fredericktown. Um Jay Shepherd, this is a little bit old news. He is our new um police chief. Um Rick Llewellyn is retiring um as BMS and chief and going to be shifting to 911 um director director, I believe that's the title there. And

051then our fire chief is also We have a change in all three of those entities, all in a pretty short period of time. So, and two the new village council members that have been around a little bit now, but um just some change in leadership, so I encourage you to get to know um get to know them. And all of them have just really contributed a lot. Rick is faithful at being at our FC DEF meetings and giving us updates and a great community partner um for sure. Also sits on council and sometimes in the mayor's seat. Right? Um I think I think that's everything I have from those two organizations. Um that was a lot. There's a lot going on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, which is good. All right, Mr. Bellman, I think you are

052up next. >> Yeah. Okay. Uh work dev meeting was March 25th. So, I've got three things to highlight there. First is uh Knox aspect. Um there are 30 students uh from the county in that program. Mr. Shoemaker, I'm going to put you on the spot. Do you know we have two? Okay. We have two uh students participating in that, um but they were they reported out Shawn McCutcheon, career navigator. They were excited about, you know, reaching 30 and what that looks like moving forward. Second thing I have is educator boot camp, which I mentioned last meeting as well. So, from what I understand, it is June 3rd, 4th, and 5th. They are taking 25 educators, so it's going to be four per district, but it's first come, first serve, but I I I asked the

053question at the meeting just to make sure that every district had the opportunity to participate if they wanted to. So, they are doing that. They're giving each district four. So, there will be speakers, you're going to tour the career center and several manufacturing facilities. There will be a book reading. There's a paper to write, which I know nobody looks forward to doing that in the summer, but it is for credit. Applications after spring break, which obviously we've already had spring break. So, that is out there. I'm sure that's already been shared and I don't know if we have our four that have signed up already, but that was a that's going to be a good thing. So, I'm excited about that. And then, the third is the tech internship. So, I'm just going to share

054a little piece of info. There's a lot of lot of pieces for this. They talked about it for probably 30 minutes, but John Hambrick, work-based learning coordinator for the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, he spoke. So, the high school tech internship program, it's a program of the governor's office of workforce transformation, reimburses Ohio employers for hosting high school interns in technology-focused roles. Uh the goal of the high school high school tech internship program is to provide businesses and schools with the tech and talent they need while also providing students with valuable work experience at an early age. I believe we had two from Knox County that did it last year. Uh they are encouraging us to uh do this. Uh they've got to work a minimum of 120 hours. Uh it's got to be

055at least $12 an hour. They will reimburse up to uh $5,000. Um and they're reimbursing 75%. So, the district's only paying 25% of that. Um and John is more than happy to answer any questions. He said if there wasn't anything specific or job description-wise, they are super flexible on um tweaking those job descriptions. It's and you can email email him the job description. They'll look at it and sometimes you just have to change the wording, but they really want this to work. So, uh it's a great opportunity, I think, for for us it's a great opportunity um for someone who wants to get involved in anything in that realm um to get experience and help out the district. So, if you need more information on that, um I can point you in the right direction.

056So, What is the Knox aspect? Like, what is the Knox aspect? Um manufacturing boot camp. Yep. So, they they are going around and visiting different uh sites um and tours and talking through what that looks like. Um I think it started out, I don't know, we had eight to 10 maybe that first year, something low. Um and then now it's up to uh 30 at this point. So. Next Next meeting is uh this Wednesday or uh next Wednesday. >> So that internship that's an internship. Yep, it's an internship. >> And it's for the school year or the summer? No, so yeah, that's one of the That's one of the pieces. Um you have to apply by June 12th. And then I believe it has to end um by some point in October. So basically you

057you apply by June 12th. You can do it over the summer, but it there's a cutoff date >> Okay. on that only because they have to go through the process of you know, the reimbursement process and all of that and they don't want to take that into Sure. the next year. So they want to have that done Okay. by the time That's right. So. Cool. Yep. Yeah, good stuff. Yeah, good good program, though. Great opportunity. Okay, um B. Policy Liaison. Your work is on the other page that we just discussed. >> Right, there was a second reading of policies What more can you say? Okay. It's grueling work. Yep. Reading. Well, we appreciate you >> We appreciate you serving on the committee. I enjoyed it. I know you did. I did. Yeah, thank you. I'll

058read it anytime. Oh, goodness. Well, Shelly's going to wake us back up with legislation and advocacy. Sure. Like always. My report is short um because the General Assembly is essentially recessed. They have been out for 2 weeks, so um right before they recessed, they did the house did pass a couple um additional bills. Um House Bill 125, which uh would require a school district to count uh student who participates in a school sponsored or workforce prep activity during school hours as being present at school. So, approved activities would have to include recreation and athletic activities or uh athletic tournaments, field trips, internships, shadowing opportunities, etc. Um so, those would have to be district approved, um but they would count as in-school hours. Uh House Bill 203, um is also called Aspen Runnels' Law. Um that

059would increase penalties and fines for vehicular assaults and homicides that occur in active school zones. Um so, both of those bills passed the house, but they are now on to the Senate for consideration. Um I think the General Assembly reconvenes after the May primary elections, so I guess everyone needs to get out and vote, and then I don't know what to report in a couple months. Yes. Vote in the primary. Yep, make that Finance, we don't Don and I don't have anything. I guess the only thing I would add here, I did I haven't looked I looked at my one email, but not the second one. I did You saw in the board report, Rover Atlas, lunches, Mhm. and that number just continues to grow, and so I just asked Heather for a little more

060detail around how much of that seniors and what not, but I need to check I know she sent me one. >> 1,500 for senior for senior lunches of that chunk and stuff like that. I just think that number continues to grow, but anyways. Um any other board number report outs? Okay, then we're going to bounce over to our administrators. All right. Uh at the middle school really it's uh you know, back in session everything after break. Uh just really a few events coming up. Um middle school dance May 1st. You guys are invited. What's the theme? >> Um I don't know yet. Okay. So, I'm not sure. I just know it's May 1st. So. Um if you're if you're free that night, uh stop on over. Uh obviously DC trip is that next Monday, 4th,

0615th, and 6th. Uh so, I'll share how that went at the next board meeting. Uh April 28th, I don't know the exact time, but I know that's fine arts night. Um so, stop last year was pretty cool. Uh they did that. Got to see a lot of kids performing, so um that's April 28th. Uh really the big thing right now is the state testing. Uh elementary uh starts tomorrow, grades three, four, and five for English. Uh and then middle school, high school English is we we uh start Wednesday, so couple days this week, and then math in a couple weeks. Yeah, few weeks we'll be done. Got a lot of kids going on the DC trip? Uh yeah, I think we're 60 kids going this year. Yeah, we have two buses going this year, so

062should be fun, hopefully. But, that's about it at the middle school. Is Jimmy Napier going to the middle school dance? He's He's going to the seventh grade prom and also the dance. Yeah. Middle school dance. Yes. I'll ask him tomorrow. Yeah, make sure you ask him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. And chaperone. Which is false advertising. Thank you. I'm I'm already here for breakfast. Right. You might as well say that all day. >> one day in the hallway. I love it. Mr. Schumacher. Um had an NHS tapping this week. Um and uh announced our valedictorian and salutatorian, which is the highlight of the year. Um so that was fun. Other things, um again with the uh we already did the class rank, academic honors. Um having to touch on the OTC plus, ATC. Um excited about

063that. We can We said that that's for all our students, but also being able to incorporate that into our biomedical program, too, as an option for those students to uh take advantage of opportunities. Um scheduling is starting to wrap up. Um something I'm pretty excited about. Uh that's been a especially with blocking the engineering course this year has had additional challenges, but we've had I am pretty excited about the schedule. We're doing things getting getting the majority of students the courses they requested, and um it has been a lot of intensive students who have had some pretty challenging uh schedules, and we've been able to work to make it work for a lot of them. So um excited that we were able to get kids the classes that they uh were excited about. And uh

064just to give you guys an update on career our career tech pathway numbers. Uh right now, engineering and manufacturing currently we have 60 students who are Yeah, the high school students who are enrolled. This isn't counting the middle school career tech. This This high school. Uh we have 60 in engineering and manufacturing. So we we knew those numbers they had dropped had to drop a little bit last year because of restructuring. Um but so those numbers are back, and we expect able to expect that to probably be at or above that. Next year, we're really not next year, the year after, then is what our vision should be fully put into place how we want it to work. So, we have one more year until we can work that out. But, the numbers are back

065where they were. Biomedical Science, the numbers are better than they were last year by 35 the numbers, which we were hoping. The numbers in the Human Body Systems, which is next to pathway, doubled. And so, it's which is Now, that double went from five to 10, but it did double. So, so we're we're seeing more, and I think now that more of the students are in the Biomedical Principles of Biomedical Science, we should see it again that that increase again next year. So, And then in our Ag classes, we are at 65 students, 72 in the that are in the Ag course. But, a couple of them are a few of those are in multiple Ag courses at once. So, there's 65 individual high school students are in our Ag course, which isn't counting the

066eighth graders who will be which we have we were able to kind of reserve one of our freshman courses. Um and we're able to we're going to probably be able to put about 20 about 20 eighth graders into that freshman Ag course, similar to what we did this year. Um but, just high school students that's 65. And those kids are like all these kids, they're like you're saying they're they're placed. This isn't just what they opt checked. This is like their schedule. It's >> They are. This is This currently works for them. Okay. And last year, I think we had Last year at this time, we were at about 20 three, and we were able to make it work for about 21. And at this point, that would be cuz a couple students had to

067make But, right now that's that's what everyone Those numbers are what everyone makes some hard choices. Sure. Um we still have a few students out there who are select choir is a thorn in my side like for scheduling purposes. Don't tell the nuke. Students are very Great singing is great too. They're very very passionate about taking select choir, but it always It's very hard to get that not to up against CCP comp or engineering or So it's students have to make We can't We can't do it all. We cut some things and uh but So yeah, it's There are still some tough choices students have to make um but that's going to be in the new year. It's good. Anything else? Uh I'm sorry. Yeah, that's it. That's it? Yes. Oh, good. I'm done. That's

068the finale. Graduation around the corner, yay. Inside again, like that's going to be our new Yes. I I am a big fan of that due to the like just logistics planning. We don't have to deal with those variables. We know it. We know how the school is set up for it. I know our band director and our custodians are very Yeah. happy about that. Yeah. That's great. Anything else? I'm good on anything, but yeah, any other questions, please. Guys got your matching shirts on tonight. I love it. Also in March I believe we had the opportunity to hear from a representative from the administration. We also offered a spring tour and activity for our members that were interested And last week we were excited to have a launch party for an app that FBLA has

069been using to mainstream our communication. Um it was something that we were able to purchase of the board and our technology and patient breath we got. So, we had a launch party and we figured out how to sign up in the app and now we have on the app they can see the contract, they can see the OBC forms, the the new family information is on there. There's a calendar of community events. And then a message and reminders and then you start okay. So, we're excited and we launched really well. We've got over 57 members who have already signed up. So, we just have a few more outliers and we're thinking about 50%. participation balance. And and as we all know, April is a really busy month because it's stress. So, the ABA has kicked

070off the April stress month with the hour stress day at the ABA. There will be a dog, food bags, stress balls, and some things that I allow you to take a moment for for me time. And then we're excited to have Sunny Sats come back at the end of April. They'll be here on the Monday to kick us off for our last week. We love to thank the board for the negotiation process. So, it was super smooth and super easy and we appreciate it. Yeah, vice versa. I want to have a Q&A before the stress starts. It's just gearing up for testing. The testing and the Good. We good. Is that app universal? Like that's that's pretty smooth the app. Like is it Like that's something other districts are using and so Or no, it's

071us the app. Uh it's it's I mean obviously it's specific to us, but like it was created for us? Uh no. Um it's actually um it's called the uh It's church app. Yeah. And so but other organizations Yeah. besides churches. Yeah. So they just charge a membership fee and Um other schools around us are using Google Classroom. Okay. So we wanted to try to use something that will work people on their phones Sure. instead of having to like go to Google Classroom. Yeah. And we're trying to be a little bit more independent Yeah. Um but I don't know. People are always on their phones, so Yeah. No, that's >> other communication that Yeah. Hey, there's You can discuss with them. RSVP, so it just Yeah. It's pretty easy. That's awesome. Yeah, that's cool. Okay, sorry.

072But All right. Well, that brings us to number 17 on the agenda, which is executive session. Um so I'd entertain a motion to enter executive session to discuss personnel and matters to be kept confidential by federal law or state statutes and there is no action to follow this um executive session. So moved. Second. Mr. Bowman? Yes. Mr. Napier? Yes. Mr. Cole? Yes. Ms. Lindeman? Yes. Ms. Winger? Yes.
