Get a roll call. >> Mr. Bowman >> here. >> Mr. F >> here. >> Mrs. Lindamman >> here. >> Mr. Navier >> present. >> Mrs. Winger >> here. >> Okay. And number three on the agenda, which there are agendas in the back. Sorry if anybody wants to grab them and want to follow along. more than welcome to. Um, but number three is the adoption of our agenda. If I could have a motion to approve the agenda. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Mrs. Winger. >> Yes. >> Mr. Napier. >> Yes. >> Mr. Bman. >> Yes. >> Mr. Pulk. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lindamman. >> Yes. >> Okay. And number four on our agenda is um the approval of

a couple meetings here in the minutes. So we have the board meeting minutes of October 13th of October 20th and October 30th. We have been busy. So if I could have a motion for the approval of those minutes. >> So move second. >> Mr. F. >> Yes. >> Mr. Bman. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Linderman. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nier. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Winger. >> Yes. >> Okay. Number five on the agenda is public participation. I don't believe we have any um signed up for this evening. So, we'll move into um number six, special accommodations. Um a a motion to approve the following donations. $260 to the high school choir from the music boosters. $250 to the to the class of 2029 from aerial corporation. Um that's Alex and Libby Wright to be used towards

class class initiatives and $800 um to the engineering program from FT Precision. I know Mr. Shoemaker went over and accepted that donation on behalf of the the district last week, I believe. Yeah. Um and then we're going to move into uh B, C, and D. And I think I'm going to pass that over to you for Okay, >> do it that way. >> That's fine. >> Yes, we um Good evening everyone. We have some special guests uh with us uh this evening that we would like to recognize on the agenda. We have resolutions um recognizing Concuzzi Construction, Dalbis Corporation, also the individuals uh that were part of the committee for the Frederick Town Community Fireplace and Lorraine Boss, Don Dalbis, and Kathy Daniels. and um they have all been nominated. Uh you've all been nominated

and have received the Ohio School Board's um uh business honor role uh for 2025. And so the board has asked that you come and we will be presenting you a certificate and also a uh Frederick Town Schools challenge point. So, but before we explain some of these awards and I have called each of one of you up to present your certificate, I would like to read the letter uh as far as um produced by uh Ohio School Boards Association. Congratulations for being named to the 2025 OSBA business honoral with the certificate of recognition. Ohio School Boards Association offer its sincere thanks to all of you who are represented here this evening and especially for your strong support of Fredericktown local schools. The board of education, the students, staff, and community also extend their appreciation. School

business partnerships greatly benefit all involved. Local businesses play a crucial role in supporting their community schools while students get real world experience. This support is especially important as school districts struggle with limited resources. Just as businesses support their schools, it is equally important that schools and communities support their local merchants and service providers. OSBA encourages everyone in the community to recognize all that are here this evening with being recognized. and also Fredericktown local schools would like to sincerely thank you for your outstanding contributions in the past, present and future. Thank you for all being here. Uh and then also with that certificate and I will call you up here. We also have challenge coin and um I'll go ahead and hand this each to you and we've asked Mr. shoe maker to explain a little

bit about the concept behind this challenge. >> Um so history of the challenge coin uh it's most commonly traced back to a lieutenant in World War I. Um a wealthy lieutenant who bought the coins for his unit, bought coins with their the unit's designation on it and um gave those out to all the members in his unit. Um he kept his in a bag around his neck. Um he was shot down. His phone was shot down. Um behind enemy lines. Um was captured. Um he was taken to a camp. Uh stripped all his clothes but they didn't take the bag around his neck. um ended up escaping uh was captured by a French uh unit and the only way he escaped execution was by they the only way he could identify himself was by this

challenge coin or this coin that he had in his uh in the bag on his neck. Um after coming back it became a military tradition um where they would give out these coins for um uh different awards. Uh and since then uh the mission has spread to fire, EMS, uh police, um educational institutions as a way of showing camaraderie, respect. Um and that's what we're tonight. Uh the coin on um one side has our a while back we developed a culture blueprint. We had staff members elementary all the way to board um come together and develop our what we want to see of our culture. So on one side it has our values take responsibility growth build community. On the other side are the outcomes that we want to see um better version of you

better day than yesterday. That's all. If we could be if we could have uh um the first one that we would like to recognize and present a certificate to Fredericktown local schools recognizes Dalvis Corporation. We could have Terry, Don, and Dave come on up here to receive the certificate [applause] came into play, we started to support that and And that continued now good and we appreciate the student. >> Thank you so much. >> Next we'd like to have Construction also come up. Represented by Mr. Andy Fox local schools recognizes Concosa Construction for their overall contribution to our schools and exemplary service. [applause] They'll continue to support the schools. The next three individuals certificates that we have, we'll call you all up together at the same time, but that would be uh for your work on

the community fireplace at Brick House. And that would be Mr. Don Dbiz, Mrs. Lorraine Boss, and Mrs. Kathy Daniels. come up. >> Thank you. >> I don't say anything. >> I mean, we had fun doing this, guys. We Well, probably everybody in the room had either driven them, right? And I was probably in the fireplace. Right. But there was this was a fun project, wasn't it? >> Yeah. Very challenging. Um and but but a good challenge, right? And I just think I drove by the other day and I thought, "Wow, it looks pretty cool. I wanted to go on a rocking shirt, but I really didn't have time to do that because it got cold and it started snowing." So that didn't happen. But we just This was great. And these guys were great to

work with. So thank you. We appreciate it. So through the OSBA there was a special project um section and that's where this got nominated and so the collaboration and the list of many many many you know contributors whether it was time or finances or their talents. So all of those folks also that were on the many the long list will be getting a a letter and a thank you note to a little insert on the manufacturing program that's coming out. So yeah, thanks for the collaboration. that was really the key in that project and why it was nominated. >> And if I could just share really kind of how this got started for those that don't know. Um I this idea I've had this idea for a couple years to put a fireplace and when

we started streetscape I thought this would be so cool. You know we're doing all this downtown work. Let's put a fireplace up there where people can come together and talk. Well I noticed that at the bird house people bag chairs sitting out there talking. We've had people sitting out there knitting, crocheting, and doing all kinds of activities. So, I uh went to Well, let me back up. I mentioned it to Don. We were at another meeting for another volunteer project, and I said, "Don, what would you think about putting a fireplace up?" He said, "That's a great idea." And about two days later, he calls me and goes, "I know somebody that'll donate the fireplace. So that's how it really got started, you know, and it started with an idea and the community was unbelievable

about everybody wanted to be a part of it. It, you know, they kept coming up and um asking what they could do to be a part of it. So we had an unbelievable cooperation. It was only an idea until Earl Rule stepped up and kind of led the construction effort and he got us through a lot of hiccups and challenges and had no idea what we wanted it to look like when he started. So, but um where the school came in, it was Don's idea to bring in Project Lead the Way and we were excited to do that. I thought the kids really felt challenged doing it and um >> some amazing ideas. Some were more practical than others, >> but I think we had like 13 concepts and the kids seem to um enjoy

it. I don't know if anybody saw the I'm going to share this. I'm not going to take much time, but ask me to talk. >> This is a picture of what the kids um their concept was and then you can see what the final architectural drawing was. So, we used a lot of what they uh suggested. We really like the idea of making sure Frederick Town was mentioned there in the year that Frederick Town um was established. And so, it was u it was fun >> and we had a great time. >> We did mostly. >> Yeah, mostly until [laughter] >> Go ahead. >> I think you pretty much said it all. I mean, it was a lot of fun. It was great to have project lead the way class involved and very grateful for

just web to put their effort towards >> that. And that's just spiral. Now we're knocking on their doors all the time for stuff which is great. >> And so we're hoping that in the kids it helped to instill community pride and our idea was that someday they'll drive by there when they got kids of their own and say, "Hey, I played a part in putting that fireplace." So >> that's what it's all about. But thank you FOR [applause] >> you guys are gonna if you plan to stick around. We hope you will. We'll maybe do some pictures after. Is that okay? I mean, Terry, you want to stay for a board meeting, don't you? [laughter] >> It's really getting exciting now. >> Okay. So, um, we're going to do a motion to approve [clears throat]

our special accommodations A through D. >> So, move. >> Second. >> Mr. Bowman. >> Yes. >> Mr. F. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lenderman. >> Yes. >> Mr. Napier. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Winger. >> Yes. >> Okay. Okay. In number seven and number eight, we have our treasures report and then Heather will roll into our or her consent agenda. Uh for the month of October, expenses did exceed revenue. Um resulting basically in a net deficit of 1.1 million. Uh the key contributions to this mount work was the general fund. Uh that was 611,000 and self- insurance was 336,000. Um, additionally 185,000 was paid through the Battel grant which I am waiting for reimbursement for that. All um expenditures has have been submitted. So I'm just waiting for um the reimbursement for that. We did have several

large one-time expenditures. Now again um 185 of that was the Patel grant. So we had um Buckeye Educational that was engineering supplies uh the robotic arm. Uh we had our first payment on our new instrument lease through BGE uh that is for the band uh that we got new steam furniture. Uh it we got received our first invoice from the Knox County ESC. This is all the 95,000 is for the last part of August. So, two weeks of August, then all the whole month of September. Those are our uh special ed costs through the ESC. That does not include speech or OT. Those are build separately. So, I should receive the first bill for speech and OT and it should be at the end of this month. I should receive that first invoice. um Miller

Electric for lab equipment and then uh Vasco that was the bus garage paving. Uh then that is my financials for the month of October. The other item I have on my agenda is um every year I have to approve a purchasing agent or purchase the person in charge of our purchasing cards. So that person always is Len. She keeps track of the purchasing cards. We have three of them. Walmart now is down to where you can only purchase items online. So, that purchasing card went away. So, we have three purchasing cards now. Kroger, Lowe's, and Dollar General. Um, the other item that I would like to report out on is the the audit is underway. Uh right now they are doing um EMIS and all of special education. So right now they're doing that. I'm

actually meeting with them tomorrow instead of coming on site. We're doing a Zoom meeting which [clears throat] will be interesting. This will be my first Zoom meeting with the state auditors. So um I'll do that tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. Uh they're trying not to come on site if they don't have to. So everything is remote as of right now. >> Um but as as of right now there have been no issues and then as of this Friday we are having um a county treasurous meeting. Um this is really just to go over how our school districts are going to really move forward and report out on how the piggyback happened. um actually last week and with the forecast that is coming up in February which the piggyback will affect my forecast that I'll report

out in February. So um the piggyback really it's affecting the homestead um exemption for senior citizens. Uh the school district will receive an automatic it's when you include Marl County, it'll be right around $120,000 that the school district will lose next year. So um half of that will be in this fiscal year. Then starting in 27 it'll be the whole 120,000 that the school will lose. Uh the forecast now is due again in February. So I'll have to report you know half now and then the full amount for next year and then with all the house bills and I know Shelley will talk about um how we're going to either report or um again how I had several different versions of the forecast. I'm sure I'm going to have at least two different forecasts that

I'll be submitting again in February and reporting to you um at that time as well um with the house bills that could affect um property tax reform which is a hot topic as of right now. Um but that is all that I have to report. Okay. So I will entertain a motion to approve the treasures consent agenda and then we can have any discussion or questions for Heather. >> Second. >> Okay. Anybody have questions thoughts around? >> I've got questions. >> I know you Yeah. Any for tonight? So well just a just a for clarification and >> so with the property tax >> there's several >> right well 186 >> 186 [clears throat] yes >> just speak to that and that is to [clears throat] >> that's that's the deep that's the deep >> that

is going to be the deep one that as of right now the projections that they're giving at least from the state due or od is that we could lose between 1 million and 1.5 million and that'll be effective next fiscal year >> which will be in that there's my question. So fiscal year 27 >> fiscal year 27. That's my I just that >> the big thing that they're not talking about is if they roll back all these property taxes that then affects state aid because state aid is based on property taxes. So if property taxes get reduced then the state aid will be reduced and they haven't come out as to what state aid will be. So if that 1.5 million then there could be another reduction in state aid. That's what they're not talking

about except the last one that I one of the last emails that I received from OA Asbo Katie Johnson did bring up that part that they're not talking about what's going to happen with state aid when they roll back property taxes. >> Thank you on all this stuff informing us. It's um >> yeah, >> it was me. >> It was it was that explained it perfectly. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. >> So on that basically our county commissioners, you know, they have they had the ability to vote for the homestead for them to be able to d not double, but >> that's basically what would happen. >> Or they could do the owner occupancy. So like in Richland County, the county commissioners voted for the owner occupancy. Richland County, it was the homestead. They could

have done one or the other or both and they they they had to vote on that by October 31st and that will be yearly. So that was came down through House Bill 96. >> Yes. >> That now the county commissioners so the state kind of kicked it to them to make that decision. So, >> and how I explained to Gary, I said this from the get-go when they first start talking about the homestead exemption and the roll back. I am perfectly okay with it. I understand it. Um, people that are on a fixed income, the senior citizens, anyone like that, absolutely they deserve a tax break in full support of that. It was the way the school districts found out. We found out through Knox Pages. >> We found out a week after >> it

was already voted through. So they had a meeting on uh Wednesday, October 22nd and they voted on it Thursday, October 23rd that morning. And we didn't know about it until we read it on Nox Pages. And the amounts they gave on Knox Pages were far from accurate. They didn't even mention school districts. They said the county would receive so many thousands of dollars less. Well, Mount Vernon City is going to receive $500,000 less. We're going to receive $117,000 less. They didn't state that in the article. That was the part that was I I won't lie, it was disappointing. >> So, the Moral County vote also then too, >> I believe. So, yeah, the piggyback. Yeah. communication. That was the biggest piece. Any other questions? Okay, I think we're ready for roll call. >> Mrs. Winger,

>> yes. >> Mr. Napier, >> yes. >> Mr. Bowman, >> yes. >> Mr. Faulk, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lenderman, >> yes. >> Thank you. >> Okay, number eight I or I should say at number nine and 10 is our superintendence report. and then moving into the superintendent's consent agenda. >> Yours. >> Thank you. >> Again, just a couple of of um comments here regarding the updates I had in the the report for all of you that good news that we did receive the certificate of occupancy for the bus garage that is complete. Um and very proud of that facility now now. So, and happy that the bus drivers can finally they call it home. They're back home. That's what they say. So, excited about that. Also, um just another quick update. We've seen some activity

down around the track and the field with the beginning construction with the track and the football field resurfacing project. Um this week, what their intentions are is to put steel plates across the track and then you would should see by the end of the week they'll be removing sod. Along with that, removing Then they'll be uncovering that irrigation system, pulling that out um and really trying to get the irrigation uh somewhat back into place before spring if they can. The other significant milestone is to get the curve on the inside or the drain on the inside track complete uh by the first of year. So then it would all be ready to go once spring hits. So um that's just a tenative timeline right now and uh but you down there that way. Uh as

far as then you saw the RFQ uh that we did put out for criteria architect for design build process for the uh renovation of stadium field house improvements there. Um we did receive eight applicants and and board you will have some work ahead of you there as far as that selection process and we'll work through that again here this evening at the work session. So continuing those conversations. Um more importantly again today um I want to also echo thank you to our veterans and their service um for the freedoms that that we enjoy. But also I I also want to say thank you to our administrators and our teachers. Um also our band and our choir, our egg students and our NHS students because of today's assembly. Um we celebrated and recognized over 35 uh

veterans this morning and and everyone did an outstanding job. Um one of the things that I would like to share with you is an email um one of our staff members shared as far as what they heard this morning uh following the uh Veterans Day welcome and assembly. Talking with three older veterans, one a Vietnam veteran for sure who lingered to chat with each other. This is what I heard and wanted to pass along to you. This assembly makes me feel like a hero one day a year. He said this numerous times, showing just how special he feels about all the prep and honoring of veterans and how important it is to them. The Vietnam veteran said that this was his welcome home, that he never got back when when he got back when he

served in Vietnam. Other shot thoughts shared. Excuse me. Many of the veterans expressed how touched they were by the outpouring of all the support today. Two Korean War vets spent time together connecting who had never met before. One veteran took a letter with him to give to a World War II veteran who could not attend and of course was clutching his letter too. He said he always takes what was created for them as a remembrance. I just wanted all of you to know how important your efforts are in making this uh and honoring our veterans happen. The there were tears and not just mine. Thank you. >> Awesome. >> Nice work people. >> Yes. >> As far as superintendent consent agenda, I'll move through this one. We have a um a couple contracts here to

approve with Mid Ohio ESC for RBT and also academic intervention tutor. Those would be items A and B as well. Then a C contract for multil- language learner tutor uh at $90 an hour. Item D would be the first reading of an education field trip request from Mrs. Whitney Smith, high school social studies teacher. This trip would be to Costa Rica during on March 27, 2027 through April 3rd, 2027. Again, that's the first reading. We have the EF tours packet in there with other relative information regarding February. Item E would be the final reading of our Mola policy volume 44. And you can see there there's quite a few with um the policies and then also the non-discrimin listed below that. Item F uh is a motion uh personnel and this would be to adjust

contract for classified employee. Item G is for classroom field trip volunteers for the 2526 school year. Item H is [clears throat] supplemental contracts for coaches, advisors, and volunteers. And that is one of the shorter superintendent consent agenda that I have presented. >> I know you only made it to letter H. >> I know. >> Okay. I'll take a motion to approve the superintendent's consent agenda. Then we can question. >> Second. Right. >> Any questions or discussion? around the superintendent's consent agenda. >> Are you looking It's been been a minute that educational field trip that Costa are you looking for feedback on that? >> If you have any, we'll definitely take it, but we want to get that as a first reading to you. That way if there is any questions, concerns and we can hopefully

find uh formally approved then, >> okay, >> in December. Say yes. Feedback. Welcome. >> Do you want to go Paul >> Costa Rica? >> With the kids. >> No, thank you. >> Okay. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. >> I know. I felt like you were maybe not sure. >> Anyways, okay. >> No. >> Anybody else? [laughter] >> Okay. Oh, goodness. I think we're ready for roll call. Okay. Mr. Folk. Yes, >> Mr. Bowman. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Lendaman. >> Yes, Mr. Napier. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Winger. Yes. >> Okay. Item 11 is our committee reports. Um, ways for us to connect in the community. Um, so I actually go first here and both of the career center and FCDF actually don't happen until this Thursday. So, not a lot to re report out there.

We are trying to beef up um attendance for FCDF. Um, PDF with our economic development arm for the county is going to be presenting um kind of their you know Sam's and new leadership there and kind of the way that they're structuring that and some of their goals and things that they're working on. So um if anybody in the room would love to attend a 7:30 a.m. meeting this Thursday, we'd love to have you. It's a a great opportunity to um connect and hear what's happening and we're really looking forward to ADF having the floor um to share out some information with us. But other than that, I'll have items to report out next month from those meetings. So, I'll pass it to Mr. Bellman. >> Might be the shortest. >> I know like we're

rocking through this >> two reports real quick. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, I've got a couple things from the workdev meeting um from October uh 22nd. Uh we actually met um in MVNU's new engineering space. So that's the lower level of the old Melbourne and News building uh 16 East Vine. Um nice facility there. They def they offered out that they would uh do tours uh for people if they would like to see that space. I believe they're moving in. Andy, were you there at the last meeting? I believe they said January they're planning on moving in. So, um they don't have students quite in there yet, but that's coming soon. Um and then, uh soon to be Founders Food Hall, which will be on the upper level. Um they're going to have seven, uh

vendors in there, and they're still working out all the logistics, but pretty neat. Um that's going to be that's going to be a pretty cool space. Um they uh Julia Suggs highlighted manufacturing matters. um the event we had at Fredericktown um and said they had one in Mount Vernon, one at Frederick Town, and then they said they were going to get together and talk about, you know, ways to, you know, improve it, try to get more people, you know, around those, but they thought it it went well um at both places. Um she also shared I'll read this um that workdev Knox County workdev received the excellence in workforce development award um at the Ohio Economic Development Association annual summit um on October 13th in Akran. Um, the 2025 Excellence and Workforce Development Award uh

recognizes unique approaches to any aspect of workforce development and recognizes a person or organization that has developed innovative practices and programs. Uh, the strategy or strategies um should provide direction, guidance, and motivation to Ohio's workforce and business community. So, that was pretty cool award um for us to for us to get. They're doing a lot of a lot of great things there. And then um Heather, I can share a little information with you later. Um I don't have all the details, but um the Ohio 529 College Advantage program, they there's a brochure and some information that I'll have to I'll have to get to you later. Okay. I didn't I don't have those with me. Um but just information they asked us to pass along. Okay. >> So then we got um I think our

next meeting is in December. So >> I got >> we had some of our folks here tonight at the football game set up for one of the man the manufacturing the many things that they're trying to do to make those connections. So everybody's got stress ball causing stress balls to we use our hard hats or whatever you guys have all the goodies that the kids. Okay. So, uh, letter B is our, uh, policy leaison. Don employee, you guys already met and we just >> met. We just approved. >> Yeah. >> How's that for a short? >> I know. >> It's great. Well, this next one's probably not short, so >> don't get too excited. Um, Shelley's going to give us an update on legislative and advocacy. >> Well, the good news is that we've already

talked about some of this. Um, and I'm really just focusing on stuff that's affecting school funding right now, which is the vast majority of what's happening in the state house anyway. Um, so, uh, House Bill 434 was passed by both chambers. Um, it's awaiting governor's signature, I believe. uh that is it's actually started out as a um an exemption to for military driver's license applicants from driver's ed but they added or there were some amendments added at the end uh of course >> right um that clarified some things um regarding the capital and by annual budget so that's where the whole uh piggyback exemption came in there was some clarification there um so I We've talked about that enough. We all know what happened after that. Um, we also already talked a little bit about

House Bill 186. Um, the only thing I have to add to that, I guess, is that I think it was amended um where the state is now going to provide $465 million from the sales tax holiday uh fund to supposedly to keep school. I'm looking at you because I I've read that, right? supposedly to keep school districts whole, right? On this that's what they say. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I mean, that's how I that's how I read it, too. Um >> Yeah. Yeah. [clears throat] >> It said the payments to impacted districts would be made wouldn't be made until August 2026 and 2027. So, >> be there probably Anyways, that's uh that's been passed by the House. House Bill 186 has been it's now in the Senate. Um House Bill 335. Uh this

would cap inflationary growth. Um it this one also hasn't passed by the House already. So would cap inflationary growth on all inside millage to the GDP deflator um beginning in tax year 2026. Um, it was also amended uh to exclude revenue attributable to new improvements um or the expiration of tax reductions from the bill's growth limit. Yep. Um it would also authorize school districts to reduce the rate of inside millillage levies if they were to pass a new or increased income tax, which we don't have in this district right now. Um, so basically that would restrict the natural growth that would typically help extend levy cycles which could result in quicker returns to the ballot. So Heather, I'm stealing some of your your good explanation here. Um, so that one also is now in the

Senate uh for consideration. Um, couple other bills that are still kind of receiving uh some um hearings are House Bill 129. That one's also been passed by the House. Uh, it's in the Senate Local Government Committee right now. Um, that would include certain property tax levies in the calculation of a school district's effective millage floor. All of our levies are fixed in levies, so this would have an on us. So, another one to keep an eye on. And also, House Bill 309, which is also in the same Senate committee right now, um, and has been passed by the House, and it would allow, uh, county budget commissions to override voter approved tax levies and school local school board fiscal decisions if it finds it necessary. So, [clears throat] um, one another this one [clears throat]

is hasn't made it hasn't progressed as far as some of these others, but it was first introduced back in February and it kind of didn't really receive any any action until recently. It's had its first hearing by the Senate Finance Committee, but I just wanted to mention it because it's kind of radical, I guess, in what is being proposed. Um, it's an attempt to establish a new school funding system. Um, it is expected to be adopted into a substitute bill in the coming weeks. Uh, it would allow the state to collect a 20 mil property tax and increase the state sales tax by 1.75%. Both of which would directly then fund education. Um, lottery and sports gaming profits would continue to provide supplemental school funding. School districts would no longer be able to levy local

income or sales tax. Local governments would also be prohibited from using any of their 10 inside mills for school funding. Um instead of each district having its own unique per pupil figure, there would be a single statewide average. Right now, that's roughly 11,500 per student. Um what's our ours is right around 83 8300 >> and then uh it used to be that way that every school got the same amount per pupil. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And then categorical funding would still be added to the per pupil amount as determined by student needs. >> Um the per pupil funding would follow the student to the public and public non-chartered schools. It would eliminate the Ed Choice scholarship program. >> It would eliminate it. >> That's what I read. Yes. >> That's interesting. >> So, okay. Um

I forget who's chair. I forget who's chair of the finance senate. [snorts] This is a Brener sponsor. >> Well, yeah, Brener. He's the He's the chair of education. I forget who finance chair is. Yeah. So, anyway, it kind of goes there. There's some more here, but um that's kind of the gist of it. So, again, it's only I think it's only received one hearing still at this point, but it's pretty >> that one's drastic. The the other one that also worries me um is House Bill 309 where it takes the power away from the five of you and gives it to the county board, you know, the county commission. >> Um which we've already felt that with what what happened. >> Yeah. So it's it's already started somewhat. Um but all of these and how

you and I were talking earlier is that What if all of these pass? What what what happens? Because there's so many that how we say contradict each other or eliminate school funding all all together and just it's almost like the perfect storm here. >> It's a little scary. >> So anyway, uh that is that's it for me. Everybody thought it was fun until you gave your report. Sorry. No, I'm just kidding. >> Silly. >> I think the challenging part in in all of it is how do we communicate it and how do we get, you know, factual information. It's not it's hard to track and keep on top of and [clears throat] and to keep our community members informed and how it's going to impact. It's going to impact districts differently depending on which bill

we're talking about. I don't know. So, anyways. All right. Uh, finance. Don and I have we have not with Heather. We have not met. That's coming up. >> We're shall wait for the state to get it all sorted out. So >> we're never gonna meet >> 2027 we'll have a meeting here. >> No. But January, right? We're supposed to >> Yeah. When we go over the forecast >> and that shifted some with this last house bill, too. Yes. As far as when the forecasts are due this >> usually um November and May, and now next year it'll be August and February. This year it was October and February. So quick. I just presented a forecast. I'll be presenting again in a couple months. >> Okay. Um E is um board members. Anybody have anything that

else they'd like to >> Oh, go ahead. >> That's all right. Go ahead. >> Go. I would just like to compliment the drama. The the play that they had was just hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard in years at a play. I want to just congratulate Ellen and the great job with the cast she did. The kids did a fantastic job. Uh I just want to just say it was fantastic. I loved it. Laughed the whole way through. Kids did a great job. That's what I'm proud of the kids. They really did. >> Lot of memorizing of lines for sure. >> A lot in those lines. Um two things. one um to go with um um the topic we were just on. Lar and Brener were at they were down the road and met with

Kathy yesterday. So >> good. >> Um thought that was good. >> And then uh I'd like to thank Mr. Shoemaker um for sending out the email to let um everyone know that the track was going to get uh get started um on Monday because and I heard this from numerous uh families um if they wanted to go get pictures, senior stuff or whatever, uh they could go do that. And I know that was wellreceived and there was quite a few people um out there. So I appreciate that. That was a positive thing. Uh that's not been a super great topic in my household. So I really was grateful for seriously I was really grateful for Mr. Shoemaker doing that because u there was a lot of positive stuff and pictures that came out of that

and uh that at least called the waters for a night for me with my fantastic. So thank you Mr. Shoemaker. Appreciate it. So, I'll just add that we did not have anybody running against our three um gentlemen here at the end. So, come January, we'll be swearing um >> swearing in >> Mr. Not swearing. No, that Mr. Napier and Mr. F and Mr. Bman. So, I think that's probably a testament to some trust, which is good. and um you know only being on this board for less than two years I think it's also I have a good understanding of when that changes and how that learning and all that so we won't have to go through that process um which is nice we can keep moving forward with some things we have um in the

works um and then just that we have casual conference coming up um starting this coming Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. So, we'll probably try to um see what days each of us will be there, but that you guys will be there, too. >> Monday. We get three days. You get one. Oh, you're going Monday. You guys are going Monday. Okay. So, anyways. Yes, that's coming up. And that's always a good time to learn. I'm sure there'll be some conversation around all these House bills and Senate bills that we just talked about. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Anybody have anything else? I I don't want to steal any thunder of all the wonderful things you're going to share about things with our kids. So, I'm going to just not because I tend to do that sometimes. So, but we'll

just kick it over to our administrative reports and whoever wants to kick off can go first. >> So, um Mr. Ch did a nice job uh with everyone with Veterans Day. Um so, again, kind of echo some of that. staff did a great job um helping out planning the students did the band and choir were phenomenal. Uh um guest speaker was great. I'm glad agreed to come in. He did a nice job. Uh and custodial staff get everything set up torn down. Um and then really got Stan Miller too. Uh one of the biggest complaints last year that we got uh the way the way our speakers are set up the veterans couldn't hear the message. Um people in the stands could but they could not. So having him come in and set up sound

was uh was a game changer for that today. That was great. Um I said play was fantastic. Uh that was uh I did it was it was entertaining um the kids. Ellen did a nice job with that. Uh varsity show. I I was fighting cold this weekend so I did not make it to varsity show. So I sent my parents in my place. >> They They said it was great. It was they had um they had a really good time. So, uh and again, they truly did a great job. Um uh one other thing that wasn't in uh my board update. Uh we're looking to bring in a guest speaker on November 25th um because I said I would. Uh we've been looking at this for a couple years. Um Hannah Art and City Trux

kind of led the way on that. Um figuring out a way to get I think [clears throat] it's Alex Sheen, right? Uh to come in. Um they vetted it. Uh they feel like it would be good um mental health or goals uh to help with that. So they're coming in on that Tuesday before I think he's coming in Tuesday before Thanksgiving break at some point in the morning maybe 8 9 somewhere in there. So um we're doing that. Other other than that um everything else was in the uh the board update the newsletter. Um thank you for those who provided feedback with uh the grading committee's recommendations. Um we'll be looking to organize those um put them into a document and um share those and hopefully we'll have some answers feedback. Uh there's also been

some policy changes around weighted grades that we're going to reook at that that were prior to those recommendations to see if that changes anything um around C tags. So um so again, thank you. And if any else wants to provide feedback too, I'll put that in the document and just I'll organize it and some of it was the same, some different. So I'll get that and get back to that. If there's any questions over the newsletter, things that were in the update, I can take questions. >> Newsletter was fantastic. It was tons of information. >> Yeah, I think you did send us, Alex. >> Somebody sent us Oh, it was in the social. I think they gave us a link. >> Okay. >> Through the board report. Yeah. >> Good deal. >> Y >> Okay.

As far as the middle school, um really not a whole lot outside of what was in the newsletter there. Um just some some things that, you know, since the last time I was here that were kind of done. Uh kids enjoyed going to Career Quest back in October there. The eighth graders and the 10th graders were able to go over. Uh that was received well again. Um about a month ago we had a choir concert that they did an outstanding job. Um you know Katie does a great great job with them uh preparing them. Middle school high school they sounded great together. There were a lot of them. A ton of middle schoolers in in choir this year. Uh had a DC parent meeting. Uh really good turnout. Uh I would say almost too good

of a turnout. So, I'm working on that at the moment. Um, >> Costa Rica. >> So, yeah, he's got DC in a year. >> Costa Rica. >> Uh, sixth graders uh were able to go to co-side at the end of October. They always enjoy that. Good hands-on learning experience for them. So, thank you for allowing them to do that. Uh, and then kind of switch into testing, the testing coordinator piece. Uh we did third grade testing last month uh the end of October there. That went well. Uh third grade staff. Uh Gina and and all the staff there did a great job handling that, helping me make sure that went smoothly. Uh and Brenton always handled all our tech issues, which we didn't have too many. Uh but he's always right there to make sure

we get them straightened out. Uh and we've already started uh prepping and having some discussions uh for ACT testing here. which will happen in February because we're going to make the switch from paper to online uh this year. So, making sure we're ready for that. >> Mr. [clears throat] Caputo, >> just a couple things that I'll just talk about the board report unless there's any other specific questions regarding those things. We did get our second RBT started. We're on boarding that person. Um Basically, we have one that's part-time, three days a week, because that's all we can get at this point in time, and one full-time. They have to be super supervised by BCBA. Um, and that's just a requirement for those types of professionals. Um, we're going to continue to look at the needs

throughout the district as far as the behaviors goes, as you saw from my board report, and make sure we keep you all praised to that. And we're also looking across the district as far as nursing needs. Um times are changing. There's lots of needs. So make sure we kind of keep those things um everybody aware of those. We have our second training for professional development for our low incident kids, our teachers of low incident kids. It's that Teachtown curriculum, that Encore curriculum that we purchased last year, last spring. Um going actually um very well. Um kids are responding to it. Kids who need to have some access to correct materials for u being able to work independently and they're doing great with it. Parents are very much so enjoying it. But yeah, parents need a

little bit more education on what that is for. And again, that's for our highest needs liter literacy, science, math, social studies for our kids with the most highest academic needs. All right. So that's really specific curriculum program [clears throat] and I'm glad that we have that K12. Um there will be a small amount of folks that's going to be involved in that training this Friday. It's a second of three sets of training. Okay. So that's all I have for you uh among the other host of things that we do on a daily basis. But if any of you have any questions for me answer could you remind us what RBT and BCBA are? >> Sure. The A couple board meetings ago, we talked about um a registered behavior technician is what they're called. They're folks

that have to go through about 40 hours of training and then pass a competency assessment. Um they work with um students across where we need them that might have extraordinary behavioral needs. Um and they've been working through Middle Educational Service Center like Mr. Chapman had brought up some of the agenda items to contract through them. Um, they have to be supervised for a certain period of time and provided direction by a person that's called board certified behavior analyst. And we do contract with that when we've contracted with Leanne Shepard for over the past five years or so. You probably recognize that name, that person. Um, she's [snorts] the one that would need to provide the supervision. She's the one that has to do um the formal assessment called a functional behavior assessment and then write

the behavior plan and then the RBTs are the ones that implement helpment plan under um so it's um again assessing the needs of the district. The needs of the district are very different than they were two years ago, five years ago, 10 years ago. So that's kind of the direction we're kind of looking at and seeing kind of continue to evaluate those Any questions for me? >> All right. Well, typically we'd have our Tesa and and chair, but they're not here this evening. So, [snorts] I think we are wrapped up with committee reports. Um item number 12 is adjournment. A motion to adjourn. Mr. B. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Winger. Yes. >> Mr. Bowman. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lindman. >> Yes. Let's go.
