We had that on our previous agenda and then it's on this one as well. Is there a reason it was on We approved it um last meeting 11:10. >> Is there something I missed? There's >> there was an adjustment to the

language in the contract. >> Oh. Oh, I I know. Okay. >> Roll call. >> Nope. Thanks, >> Mr. Sturgil. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Washington? >> Yes. >> Mr. Ferguson? >> Yes. >> Dr. Ballard? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Nazario? >> Yes. >> And that's all I have this evening. >> Thank you. Any new business? >> Um, yes. I can't let you guys get out of here too. Um, is would now be a time for me to chat or do I chat later >> about >> everything? Um, so I'll I'll take the time now. I um and I put it on my paper that I miss uh Miss Yavon sometimes reading uh our newspaper articles or poem or whatever. So, I just uh wrote down a couple things that um that I wanted to share. Uh since

my time uh sitting at the table is coming to an end uh very soon, um I would um um share with a couple of these things. So, one of my concerns was onboarding. So I was hoping that you guys would be really friendly and uh giving a lot of information to the two new members. I know um it was uh even with a lot you know with the support of everyone it was hard to navigate sometimes at the very beginning um you know a lot of it was just learning the school you know rules and stuff and and all of that. So I wanted to point that out. Um I would hope that uh communication uh would be improved on the as you guys uh go forward um and work together uh better than I

think what we did as a board. Um I don't think that we uh neglected our duties, but I think that it would have been um just more beneficial to everybody if we would have worked closer together, communicated. Um I have already uh talked to the new members um about training. I think everybody knows that um that I really uh loved the training and thought that was beneficial um and I think that it will help me even continue uh on um as a volunteer and doing whatever else I feel like doing. So I don't think that you know that that was a a waste of time or money or resources. Um I think uh as a board I think that we would serve our community better if we become a little more approachable and welcoming. Um

I love uh Dr. Graham when you are here uh you it's just um your natural go-to to introduce yourself and speak with others. we uh we sort of stumble when you're not here um and introducing or speaking to people um that come. It's sort of like we just sit here and wonder like who is that and what are they here for and are they parent you know all that kind of stuff. So um I know for me it's my anxiety that is a block to that but um if we you know just take that into consideration um uh also um I think supporting the students and I' I've shared with us before um I don't know if you guys think it's proper at a board meeting or if it's other places that we are um

to uh Mr. Ber you're always sharp uh but not to dress in suits all the time or ties all the time um >> my shirt today uh my Titans if you guys purchase a uh and I'm not saying you don't um a shirt for every club or team that share that that sells something. I bet you guys could wear a different shirt every time you guys uh >> every day of the school year without a doubt. >> Probably every day of the year that definitely every meeting. Um or if you guys just want to, you know, be polos with your Titan signs or whatever. Um uh okay, I'm almost done, I think. Um, I think attending more events, uh, either as a group, um, and we're allowed to do that as long as we don't

talk about like school stuff that we're going to be voting on. Um, um, and maybe even volunteering together. I know I think you guys did it with a hot cocoa the one year and I think that's just really, really nice for people to see, you know, this is a school board. Um, I know all of us do things and we're, you know, busy and and um and and give back, but I think, you know, being together, I think is really important. Um, uh, being an educated voter. I always say I'm a woman driver, but I'm an educated voter. Um, and I think that that is important when when it comes to voting on things on uh the agenda. Um, that we're reading um the contracts and the financials like the you know men of courage

when um as soon as uh you said amendment I'm thinking oh I know exactly exactly the words. So um I think I think that's important. Not that we don't necessarily trust Miss Tia or Dr. um with your recommendations, but I just think it's it's important for us to to know exactly what it is we are voting on. Um I think it's important um and not just because I love meetings but to have regular committee meetings and um and then not only to you know for us individually to attend those but to bring that information back to the other board members so that everybody will be on the same page when when the item comes up again. Um uh let's see. Um this is a one of my favorites and you guys have seen numerous times

that it's okay to vote no. Like everything will be all right if if you do vote no. Um I I know some people think, oh well, we should be united. But I think if you really have a feeling like I don't I don't support this that it's okay to say I don't support this and everybody's going to be okay at the end of the day. Um Dr. Graham and I have a a great relationship. Miss T and I um we're building our relationship and we're not going to stop that yet. I hope. Um and I I vote no regularly when we you know when I disagree. Um exit interviews. I hope that we um are doing that or we start to do it and for the board to sort of pay attention um to what

those reasons are um and to I guess make sure that we are um maybe making changes or um tweaking things or helping um us get better by those by those concerns um that uh I would like to um let the new members and just remind us that advancing public education is our um is a duty that we have as a board member. Um it's definitely something that I have um taken um uh I I went full steam ahead. I was sort of doing it, you know, before. Um and it's just something I think that we have sort of gotten away from a little bit. I know that we have a lot of challenges here at home. Um, but I I think especially with the I'm not going to make us lose any more money, but

with the the changes that are happening um in Columbus and in Washington that it's really important for us to advocate for public education um um to see if new initiatives or even looking at old uh things that we have been doing if they're working. um and to to change things and it's okay to change things. um no um no shade or I don't remember the word that uh Mr. of all used that I wanted to use tonight, but to um to not assume not assume bad, not assume negative when um people are approaching us um and and welcoming the the comments and the feedback. >> I think that's it. I appreciate the time >> and just uh your last part about Sylvia and I think it's one of our non-negotiables in district is we always

assume positive intentions which is an easy way to do it. Sometimes it's not always presented that way. Um or you can interpret it a different way especially in an email or a text but uh Okay. Thank you. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Sounds good. Uh committee reports request from board members. Barbara, do you want to have an emergency meeting before the next one just so we can get another meeting in? >> Yes. I'm requesting three more meetings before the end of the year, please, >> with executive session. >> Second hearing of the public. They haven't gotten here yet. Thank you. Uh, >> our next board meeting will be Monday, December 8th at 5:00 pm right here in beautiful Lorraine High School. Um at this time I would entertain a motion to go into executive session

for the reason A2 employment. >> So moved I guess you love it. >> Mrs. Washington. >> Yes. >> Dr. Ballard. >> Yes. >> Mr. Ferguson. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Nazario. >> Yes. >> Mr. Sturgil. >> Yes. >> And if you guys just want to make a run for it, we'll just do it right here. >> Yeah. Thanks.
