All right, welcome everybody. To the flag of the United States of America, to the stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right. I think my question is pretty well. So the microphone um thank you for having us here today. My name is Tom Hors. I'm the president of the Heights Alliance Group. I have our treasurer Mark Gilbert and I also have member. How many of you here graduate from Mayfield? How many had Jimmy as your principal at one time? Back in 2025. Yes. And uh a few years ago we learned about the uh the great things that the uh preschool preschool was doing for our community. And um at that time there was a need for a scooter for students who were were in need to get along and
move along and participate in the school activities. So we assisted with that. Um but then we went back to said we'd like to form a partnership so to speak where we can assist schools in really gaining great things that they do for our our community to uh students at at the MA field school. So, we went back and we got together as a club and we decided we would like to donate additional $2,000 to the uh Mayfield preschool to assist in the great things that they do. So, check If you ever had the opportunity to see the great things they do, I would encourage you to stop by and learn what they do for the uh uh for the special things that they have for our students here at Mayfield for the uh for the
preschool located right around the corner here, >> you know. So, uh thank you. Thank you for giving some time to be with everyone and start Well, thank you again, Lance. We really appreciate it. I don't have the voice. We try. So, that's our honors pres. All right. Thank you. Okay. All right. Uh, good evening everyone. My name is Nate Bishop. I'm the director of XLT. It's a pleasure to present tonight. We're going to start off just with a brief about 2 minute 3m minute video that our interactive media students uh in this class right here with Delaney Campfield put together that just kind of highlight some of what we Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat up here. Heat. We did that on purpose to help Mr. Snider upgrade our So, ladies and gentlemen, um
I'm here today to introduce to you one of our XL Tech students who loves the spotlight. Um, it's my honor as assistant principal to recognize an outstanding student who truly embodies dedication, resilience, and excellence, Arian Johnson. During her time in the XLT LPN licensed practical nursing program, Arian challenged herself in ways that many would find overwhelming. She completed clinical rotations at Ohio Living Breen Ridge of Lake West, gaining not only hands-on experience, but also a deeper understanding of what it means to care for others. Along the way, she earned her CPR and basic life support certification and is preparing the sick for her LPN credential this summer. Ariana has shared that this journey was not easy. There were moments of doubt and moments she questioned herself but she pushed through and because of that perseverance
she is leading the program not only with the knowledge and experience but with a medical certification and a strong foundation for her future and that future is bright. She plans to attend John Carol University to continue her nursing degree and working towards a bachelor of science with a specialization in pediatrics. And in 10 years, she sees herself doing what she already is so clearly passionate about, caring, and helping people. Arya reminds us that while path may be hard and challenging, it is absolutely worth it in the end. Please join me in celebrating a true rock star, Arian Jackson. Heat. Heat. Heat. All right. Our second student that we'd like to or uh uh recognize is Finny Kempar. Finn is a member of our fire EMS program. In recognition of his outstanding achievement, exemplifying excellence, leadership,
and dedication throughout his time in the Excel Tech Fire EMS program, Finn Gar has proven himself to be an exceptional fire EMS candidate, demonstrating a strong sense of commitment to both his training and future career in public safety. He has already earned his national registry of emergency medical technician certification and is on track to complete his firefighter certification, reflecting his drive and determination to succeed in a very demanding field. Finn consistently demonstrates leadership in the classroom by mastering essential skills and supporting his peers to ensure their success. His three years of service as a fire explorer further highlight his dedication to fire service and his community. His plans to continue his education and obtain his paramedic license. Finn is well prepared for a future of service. His strong work work ethic, professionalism, and integrity set
a high standard and make him a positive role model for others. In great pride, we recognize Finn Deart as the Mayfield Board of Education student of the month. Heat. Heat. Thank you. Thank you. Can we have I I know the G part's a little deep. Can we have everybody who's here for Fit come on down for a group picture, please get Get out of the car. Heat. So, at XL Tech, we'd also like to recognize two of our most dedicated teachers who are sailing off into the sunset in that lovely, as I call it, the STRS light. I'm uh jealously jealous of your retirement, but I did come up with a few words uh that kind of summarize with the real help from uh our French team. The lights come overhead like a stadium before
takeoff. It's early, too early for most, but the lab is alive and ready. Chairs clean like polished benches. Mirrors stretch wall to wall reflecting possibility. The faint scent of hairspray lingers in the air like chalk dust before a game. This isn't a field. This is XL Tech. And for more than three decades, two coaches have stood on the sideline. Debbie Paul first arrived in 1987. A rookie with vision, grit, and quiet fire. Back then, the program was still finding its rhythm. The playbook wasn't finished. The scoreboard was empty. But Debbie, she saw the long game. She built drills out of discipline. She turned mannequins into practice reps. She demanded precision, consistency, and pride. 7 years later, 1994, the locker room door swing open again. And our Marian H where Debbie was where Debbie was a
steady player. Maryanne was smart, energy, instinct, connection. She read the room like a seasoned quarterback. Read the defense. She knew when to push, when to pause, when the lift was felt like they were down by 10 with seconds left. Individually, they were strong. Together, they were unstoppable. A dynasty in disguise. Year after year, class after class, they trained their players not for touchdowns and trophies, but for something bigger. Confidence, craft, and careers. The drills were relentless. Check sectioning, styling, coloring, putting over and over again until hands stopped shaking until students who once stood uncertain became professionals, walked with purpose. More than a thousand licenses earned. That's 1,000 victories. 1,000 moments where someone stepped into a world not just prepared but transformed. And like any great coaching duo, their impact went beyond the scoreboard. They built
culture. They built belief. They built a standard that echoed throughout XLT and across Bayfield City Schools. They didn't just teach cosmetology. They taught resilience, composure under pressure, the courage to try again when the result is not perfect. No spotlight, no headlines, just legacy. Now the final buzzer approaches. The chairs are still, the mirrors reflect some something new, an empty sideline, waiting for a new generation. But echoes remain in every slot where a former student stands behind a chair. In every steady hand, every confident smile, every life changed. They live on in the players they believed in. Demi Hall, Marian H, coaches, mentors, legends, and as they walk out the field for the final time, there's only one thing left to say. Thank you so much. Heat. Family will come down please. Family Heat. Heat. Heat.
All the XL right here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Taco special education coordinator. I also oversee the feedback program. We also have a short video to show before we also have a short video to show before we recognize our students and retirees. At CBC, we set a goal to ensure 60% of our students were exiting with an outcome that includes day programming, employment, and/or post-secary education. In order to achieve this goal, we utilized a new transition curriculum and implemented an instructional pacing guide, implemented weekly team meetings, and adjusted our environment to meet the needs of our students. We also became an approved pre-apprenticeship program to ensure our students were graduating through a typical pathway. We are proud to announce that due to the hard work of students, families, and staff, 100% of our Mayfield students
will be exiting with an outcome of day programming, employment, and or post-secary education. And 88% of our students exiting are connected to adult service agencies. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. All right. Our first student that we are going to recognize um who was not able to attend tonight is uh Sam Bully. Sam is a senior at the high school but also attends um our CBD program. So in recognition of Sam's outstanding achievement, growth, and dedication throughout the school year, Sam has demonstrated tremendous progress in successfully accessing and engaging within his community. His initiative and independence were exemplified through his partic participation at the Jewish Community Center where he independently registered for a Taichi class that he continues to enjoy alongside fellow members. He has also shown significant growth by independently completing his daily self-care routine and
actively utilizing the fitness facilities. In the independent living class, Sam has achieved meaningful milestones, including completing meal preparation tasks, demonstrating appropriate meal time behaviors with peers, managing daily chores and housekeeping responsibilities, ordering meals in a community, and effectively navigating the grocery store. Sam's commitment to personal growth, independence, and perseverance serves as an inspiration to others. With great pride, we recognize Sam Bowling as the Mayfield Board of Education Student of the Month. Our second student recognition is Mario. That is you. In recognition of Mario's outstanding achievement, perseverance, and growth in developing independence, and workplace success, Mario has demonstrated exceptional dedication by balancing his commitment to SIA while working part-time at a chiropractic office. In his role, he completes daily cleaning tasks, escorts patients with care and professionalism, and manages important filing responsibilities. Beyond his strong work
ethic, Mario is a valued member of the team, bringing positivity and energy to the workplace. Securing his first job represents far more than employment. It reflects Mario's courage to step into a new environment, his willingness to learn and ask for new skills, and his determination to overcome challenges. He has shown remarkable growth in managing responsibilities, building relationships, and confidently navigating both school and work life. Mario's journey is a powerful example of what can be achieved through persistence, confidence, and a belief in life's potential. Each accomplishment is a testament to his reliability, independence, and brighter head. With great pride, he recognized Mario as the Mayfield education student of the month. Heat. Heat. family. Congratulations. >> Next, we're going to recognize our three retirees. Our first one is Elizabeth Kelly. All right. In heartfelt recognition of a
remarkable career defined by dedication, flexibility, and compassion, Elizabeth's incredible work ethic and unwavering commitment have made a lasting impact on both students and colleagues. Whether sharing lesson plans, offering innovative ideas, or stepping in without hesitation to support others, she consistently work to strengthen and improve the program. A true true team player, Elizabeth never said, "That's not my job." But instead asked, "How can I help?" From covering absences to supporting students and bringing calm and often humor to even the most hectic days, she was a constant source of support and positivity. Throughout her career, Elizabeth mastered the art of a pivot. From job training at work sites to teaching elder care, she embraced change with grace. Always willing to learn, adapt, and grow. Her flexibility and resilience set a powerful example of what it means to
truly serve students and colleagues. Elizabeth's legacy was not not in the paperwork, but in the countless meaningful moments, kindness, and quiet support that have shaped the lives of her students and those around her. As she begins a well-deserved retirement, we extend our deepest gratitude and warmest wishes. May your days ahead be filled with joy, relaxation, and the freedom to enjoy a schedule all of her own. We congratulate congratulate Elizabeth on her dedication, commitment, and accomplishments. Heat. Heat. All right. Our next retiree is Bobast in recognition of 12 years of outstanding service, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the students, teachers, and staff at Cox. As a job coach, Bob played a vital role in guiding students through real world experiences, helping them build skills necessary for independence and future success. He did more than teach vocational
tasks. He empowered students with confidence, dignity, and the ability to take pride in their accomplishments. Bob served as a true bridge between the classroom and the community, leaving a lasting impact on every student he supported. Bob's contributions extended far beyond his students. He was the ultimate team player. Al always stepping in before being asked, supporting colleagues, sharing responsibilities, and bringing humor and positivity to each day. Whether organizing potlucks or lifting spirits, Bob seemed like a stronger and more connected place. His work was never about recognition, but about care, commitment, and doing what was right for others. That selflessness is the hallmark of his legacy. As Bob begins his well-earned retirement, trading the school bus for his boat in the classroom for the open waters of Lake Erie. We wish him calm waters, bright days, and
meaningful time with family and friends. We congratulate Bob on his dedication, commitment, and accomplishment. Heat. Heat. And we are also here to celebrate Sue Delissio in recognition of 27 years of exceptional dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to students and colleagues. For nearly three decades, Sue has been the steady anchor of the vocational program, bringing a calm, patient, and innovative presence to every challenge. Her remarkable work ethic and willingness to dig in set a powerful example for all who have the privilege to work alongside her. Sue's creativity is truly unmatched. Where others saw obstacles, she saw opportunity. Whether designing custom tools to help students overcome physical barriers or developing innovative solutions in the classroom, Sue demonstrated an extraordinary ability to build pathways to success. She taught students that hard work is not about rigidity but about
resilience, adaptability, and perseverance. In a setting where the real world is the classroom and no two days are the same, Sue remains a constant, steady, flexible, and deeply committed to the success of every student. Her legacy is one of ingenuity, compassion, and impact, reflected in the countless lives she has helped shape. As Sue begins a well-deserved new chapter, we celebrate her incredible career and wish her time to build, create, and enjoy all that lies ahead. Please congratulate Sue and for her dedication, commitment, and confidence. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Congratulations. Thank you for the presentations. Congratulations to our retirees and everybody. We're going to move on real quick here to our community. We did not have anybody fill in our form tonight or request. So that I'm going to move to the president's announcements. I just
have two tonight. Uh I wanted to say great job was awesome. And second, I had an opportunity to go to previous high school library, see the harvest. It must have taken about two pieces of music. Unbelievable kids, what they learned from that, what they appreciate in that. And next we'll move to our superintendent announcements. Thank you, Mr. President. I like to call Principal Ryan Lynn up. Thank you, Dr. Barnes. Good evening, everyone. Uh we are extremely excited to be here this evening. Um I Dr. Barnes asked me to present tonight about a conference that I was uh allowed to attend. Um it was the spring convening of the League of Innovative Schools by Dr. Barnes. Uh there was gentle encouragement city school was made high school was not only a leader in the innovative space
in the state but now we're becoming a power player in the nation. Um through his gentle encouragement we're uh we applied this past summer and act and then were accepted into the league of innovative schools. Uh I would say to the community to the board this is a big deal. Uh there are approximately 160 school districts only nationwide, 35 states. There are only 14 school districts in the state of Ohio that are part of the innovative schools. um and what that means for city schools uh as I went to this conference, personalized learning, flexible time and space, believing in actual accessibility for all students, career connected learning uh through the manufacturing space, but also uh this spring convening happened in Seattle. So I was able to speak with other district leaders who are connected to
major players in the space such as Microsoft, such as Boeing. Um so essentially building programs for students all of which we are doing in city schools being a leader in the space not only statewide but nationwide. Uh something else that is very intriguing uh is that at the innovative school spring convening. Uh I met five or six educators who have come to Mayfield High School's uh showcases of national district showcases. Uh one thing that is uh truly interesting is they have neighbor grants where you partner with the school district from across the nation uh Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada to create to find a problem of practice and to actually continue to push the innovative space further. So we're extremely blessed uh to have applied and been accepted. Also, I would like to add that city schools
applied and was accepted on its first iteration. uh some of the other schools uh and it's an extremely selective group. I just want the board to know that some of the other schools found out that we had applied and were accepted on our first try and uh I was not the most popular person to have the conference. Uh so I want to thank the district for allowing me to attend. Um, and I want I want to thank the board for continuing to push us to think more deeply, continuing to align with our our mission of every student every day and continuing to non-stop as long as we can create programming that meets the needs of our students. So, at this point in time, uh, I was presented uh, Dr. Bar's picture was presented on the
screen. It was not me. Uh but the uh there is I won't go the Harry Potter thing but this is our official uh presentation of our acceptance into the league of innovative schools and Mr. Thank you very much. Please wear with pride. Okay. And also um we do have an official certificate here from the innovative schools. Um again I believe not only a high honor but we can connect with these schools nationwide not only make us better continue. Thank you very much. Heat. Heat. Thank you, Mr. Lynn. Um, make me very proud for us to be accepted in the league. Um, to Brian's point, um, Mayfield is not just a local or regional leader. Uh, we are a national leader. We're proud that we have the support of our community, our board of education to
continue to push the envelope and to innovate for our students. So, this is a tremendous honor. To Brian's credit, this is a big deal. We're very, very excited to be a part of this. You mentioned 14 districts in Ohio, there's 609. So, out of 609, we're one of 14 in Ohio. So, we're very, very proud of that. So, thank you, Mr. Lynn, for attending on behalf of the That move us to our board member committee reports. >> Okay, moving on. We'll move on to our uh uh superintendent consent agenda items A3P. Have a motion to >> approval. Second, >> yes. Yes. >> Yes. >> At this time, Mr. We have retirees circle. We're welcome new employees. Good evening, Board of Education. Dr. Barnes, Mr. Schneider. Welcome to our new hires. I'm Paul, the human resource
director for Maple City Schools. It's an honor to really have some new people in the in the audience today. Three meetings in a row where we've hired new people, which is a really cool thing. As I said to you all before, one of the most important jobs we have is hiring our people because our people take care of our students and our kids. So, I'm going to turn it over to the high school, Mr. Lynn, Mr. Mish, Missing to talk about some of their new hires and welcoming them, Mr. Lynn. Thank you, Mr. Gina. Um, tonight I have the pleasure of introducing one of our newest employees. We finally got her in the right green and white color. She's originally from Aurora, but we're excited to welcome Miss Ava Ringars. So, please stand up. Let's
give our huge round of applause. We're extremely excited to Mr. Dia's point. Uh we are again not only a state brand but a national brand. We are excited to hire the best and the brightest. Aa comes to us from John Carroll University. Uh something else of note, she is an all-American basketball player recognized. So while others were just doing their student teaching, uh Miss Rage was fighting through the NCAA tournament. Uh she was recognized as all American great scorer, but we did not hire her for just that. Uh she came and gave us a fantastic teaching performance uh interview. And at that point in time, we knew that we had our rock star. So not only a rock star on the court, but truly uh her poise and her presence for a young teacher uh
and also just her detail oriented approach. She did first year student teaching at Charles Rush High School. We will not do that against her. Uh but we were so excited I was able to walk the building with Eva. She has the right stuff to make a difference for our kids. We're excited to welcome you to our team, to our family. And I found out that your mother was an amazing just one time. >> Hi. Uh last month, Katie, if you don't mind standing. Last month, uh you were on the board agenda was Katie Ke, but she was at her daughter's cheer competition. Um I'd like to introduce you to Katie Ke. She is our new cosmetology teacher through Excel Tech. Katie is a proud Mayfield graduate. She is a proud graduate of the Excel Tech
cosmetology program under the She's a local business salon owner. Um, she is our newest family member in the XLT and Mayfield family. And she's here today with her daughter who is a cosmetology student, her husband, her sister-in-law, her parents, and her family. So, Katie, welcome to the team. Dr. Dan Shepard from the middle school. Dan, hello everyone from the board. Dr. Barnes. Um, I would like to welcome Eric Men uh to the Mayfield City Schools family. Eric will be teaching French at the middle school and high school. Uh, Eric graduated from Miami University with three undergraduate degrees, English education, French education, and French. and that time includes studying abroad. He then through the full white fullbrite program taught in France teaching English as a second language. And when he returned home, he's been teaching French
and English at both the middle school and high school levels for the past couple years being the only teacher in his district. So he's developing curriculum and expanding the program. And impressive as all of those accomplishments are, what really stood out about Eric during his interview was his love for kids. Um it is very clear that while he loves French, he loves English, he intends to use his content and his words to inspire and empower kids. And so we are very much looking forward to having Eric at both Middle School and Lakefield High School and look forward to your impact on our students. Last but certainly not least, Mr. Principal Land Elementary School. >> All right. I have uh two people that have the honor of introducing. First, I want to introduce um Luke Shone.
If you can stand up and say hello to everyone uh joining Luke today, we have Mark and Bridget, his parents. And so, we got a John Carroll basketball star ourselves. We couldn't let him just be the high school. So, um Luke, he is uh he is from Me, Ohio, graduate of John Carroll University. uh here in both his undergrad and graduate degrees there. Um did all that like he said well uh competing on the men's basketball team. Um if I was going to go on all his athletic accomplishments be here all night so I'm just going to keep it moving. Um he uh you know throughout our entire hiring process. Uh Luke definitely impressed our committee with his calm demeanor uh natural ability to build strong relationships with students. Um we were able to see
that as we were actually went to where he was student teaching and observed teaching a lesson there which was great insight for us. um his commitment to using data that are thoughtfully guiding their instructional decisions and really meeting kids where they're at and addressing all their needs. So, we're confident these qualities will have a meaningful impact on our students and school community. I'm excited to welcome you guys. And finally, I would also like to introduce Tiffany Draft. You can stand up. Tiffany is joined by and son Dylan. And uh thank you everyone for being here on your birthday. I will try to go quickly so you can get on. Uh Tiffany is going to serve as an intervention specialist working primarily with kindergarten students and some other students across the building. Um Tiffany earned her
bachelor's degree from the University of Akan and her master's degree from Cleveland State University. She is a certified elementary education teacher, intervention specialist, and holds a tessle endorsement, which has a focus on linguistics, language and acquisition theory, and specialized instructional practices for English language learners. I can barely say it. She can do all of those things. So, kudos her. From the moment we met Symphony, our hiring committee knew she would be a great fit for Lander. Her passion for supporting both social, emotional and academic needs of students was felt throughout the room. She has a natural ability to connect with students and her warm presence and caring demeanor will make meaningful impact. So we are excited to welcome Tiffany to our congratulations to all players. Very exciting time for everyone, especially for me. I can't
wait to dunk on Luke and Eva in the gym in a couple weeks. So bring it on ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much Mr. Congratulations and welcome everybody.
