job of making sure the kids all not just in the choir but in music class feel confident and get to perform and are encouraged she has a musician of the day um and then make sure to tell everyone what a good job they did so no one feels horrible but everyone's really working hard to get musician of the day correct yes they sure are and the wellness part that helps the kids want us my personal Wellness is improved by the program because I get invited down to see performances and they create the most amazing music so the other day I got to hear a performance using a xylophone if I leave something out tell me xylophone rain sticks recorders and my favorite the air purifier was used for just a few minutes so they do

amazing things but it was really beautiful music it was a nice little two minute break in my day it made me exceptionally happy also they meet all the standards on that um the skills on portrait of a bulldog I think they are let's see problem solving creative thinking and Innovation and collaboration and communication and the skills are really clearly taught and modeled by Ms longanecker almost every day I am super proud of our music program and really proud to introduce Miss Megan Longnecker [Applause] official performance at school we have covid and not being able to have audience members come to see us at school so very excited they give up their time two days and they are already sounding fabulous we are very excited to continue we hope you enjoy it all right foreign [Music]

facet of students learning experience from curriculum to infrastructure to Wellness diversity inclusion and everything in between thank you um do I have a motion to adopt tonight's agenda so moved second roll call please hi wind aye Johnson Bowers aye Brown aye all right superintendent Bratton I will turn it over to you thank you since we've switched things around a little bit our next presentation is going to be from Aisha Collier to the stone Monroe Falls schools foundation so Mrs Collier is that um sure you can use the mic over there that's right is it over there yeah good evening my name is Aisha Carter I'm the k6 curriculum supervisor and K-12 diversity and inclusion chair this year our district model is nobody believes in our students more than we do we believe in them and

we believe in each other we also believe that all students should come to school feeling acceptance value and respect when students feel accepted they perform higher they have positive behavior and they also feel like they're able to talk to adults the SMF back to school health and wellness Expo was pulled together by the diversity equity and inclusion committee our committee has representation from Community stakeholders as well as building principals and teachers we know that covet unveiled a lot of truths some of those truths were that many of us don't have the coping strategies and skills and emotional support in our toolbox that we need in order to thrive in the environment where much of the world was closed off there has been more than 35 percent increase in Mental Health Services since covet we also

know that in the past we've had students upon graduation take their own life it's important that all teachers and staff build relationship with all students it's important that all students know that there is a trusted adult or somebody they can turn to if they are experiencing thoughts of despairs it's important that our kids know that they can trust us and we have their back we would like to thank all the vendors that came out as well as the counseling and Community agencies that passed out information on coping strategies counseling sessions and items to build our emotional toolboxes we appreciate everyone that came out to the event and participated as well as all the volunteers from our own School District we would like to give a special recognition to Richie's Sporting Goods in Tallmadge and Summit

Racing for donating their timing system as well as their time to the event to make it a success we would like to thank our Platinum level sponsor Dr Monica Padula with the center for revolutionary relationships we also would like to thank the silver level sponsors Summit Federal Credit Union Ohio sports chiropractic and Rehab down in Macedonia Planet Fitness and stow and Nothing Bundt Cakes in style from the SMF back to school health and wellness Expo hosted by the SMF Dei committee we raised 2 435 dollars from the vendors the miles Farm run and the 5K I'm going to ask for Sean Christie to join me over here so I can present this to him now it is with great privilege that we are able to donate 2400 and 35 dollars to the Stoneman Road Fall

schools Foundation we will be using the money to give out two Scholarships in the amount of twelve hundred dollars at the end of this school year to two graduating seniors majoring in School counseling psychology Sports Medicine human development family studies therapy or mental physical health services or support and we appreciate you thank you [Applause] thank you Mrs Collier at this time uh I believe we have a couple more presentations up next on our agenda is um Mrs pro thank you um I've been asked to provide an update on our implementation of the resolution that was passed at the end of June um in support of our students with lgbtqi plus um identification so I'm not going to necessarily address every part of the resolution but I will read the the part that I'm going to

talk about just to kind of for a little bit of brevity so not all of them required necessarily action um on the implementation in within the buildings so I'm going to start with the 11th paragraph which states be it further resolved that every school within the district shall continue to take steps to create a safe climate for lgbtqia plus students including designating a liaison in each building so that has happened we are going to schedule a meeting within the next two weeks with all of them just to be sure everyone's clear on what their role is because that role would be just the point person so that way our students and our families know if they have a question that that's who they can start with and to get some answers the next part of

still within that same paragraph is providing support for any student groups including gay straight alliances or gender and sexuality alliances so we already have some student groups that are existing within our our buildings at the upper levels and so we will continue to support those students and their efforts to come together to have that welcoming space and then the last part of that paragraph is ensuring District counselors are able to provide again the welcoming space for students to discuss any concerns that a student may have our school counseling staff are excellent we're very lucky to have them and their ability to provide support to students in any area of need is really rather extraordinary we also have our Child Guidance staff that are available also to provide some ongoing support if it starts to be

more of a of a need within the building so you know they have really stepped up and really helped to support students in need but especially our students that are lgbtq so the next section I'm going to address is the next paragraph down so be it further resolved the district supports using requested names and pronouns without requiring a legal name change or medical diagnosis continuing to provide at least one gender-neutral bathroom in each building whenever possible and respecting the privacy of all staff and students who are in transition so the district continues to follow the federal level from Title IX which requires us actually to use a requested name and pronouns of students so it is our expectation that our staff are going to continue to follow that federal law we also believe that it's

a matter of respect for students and um in their in their wishes that we continue to do that so the general neutral bathroom has been a challenge and I think we've already had that discussion we have very limited bathrooms in our buildings surprisingly so to be able to designate one is General neutral is is impossible in a lot of circumstances so but that would be something that we would look forward to perhaps as a goal if we would be able to build new buildings in the future foreign the next section be it further resolved the district reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that any dress code for District employees or students should be gender neutral so we made some changes already to the dress code I feel like we've taken some really some good steps towards

that if the board has questions or concerns about that dress code then that would be something that we could bring back at a later meeting but you know we put some language in there to support anyone on gender neutral clothing so the next one down really talks about um having materials that reflect positive notes about students or people in the lgbtqia plus Community including communities of color and each District Library that we would have materials and resources that portray diversity and figures in a positive light so we did we spent some time in purchasing materials previously that um you know that have stories that have people that have a more diverse background in them the stories themselves aren't necessarily around always their Community or they live in it's just the same some you know similar

stories but the the characters are more diverse so um that's something that's been really positive it's nice for our students to be able to go into the library and pull a book and see the main character be someone that is similar to them so um the next one down is so it's kind of like all the bottom half of the resolution um that we will continually review our existing procedures make any modifications as necessary um and that we would um any bullying or harassment that's reported if it's specifically tied to a student with or any harassment around lgbtqia plus issues then we would track and report that separately so we can definitely do that as far as our report that we published at the end of the year to kind of break that out so

that would be something we would have available in May foreign all right and then um the next one down um sorry I think I'm okay all right I just I feel like I missed something so one of them is also around our Title IX coordinators that that same paragraph um so they have a yearly training from our attorneys as far as how to investigate complaints um if it gets to that level and um so we um we do that um on the regular basis already that's just part of the training at the beginning of the year and then um the second to last item on that is that we have professional development related to bullying and harassment of students that identify as lgbtqia plus and we have the Trevor Project training which we've already completed

in grades five through eight so that's for our staff um it's um it's a national training and we are going to repeat that for our high school we're currently working on a date for that and then we are going to train our pre-k through four staff at our next professional development day in December we had hoped to get that in August but we had too much training with the new dyslexia law that we had to get in so that was a two full days that we weren't able to add anything else into that so that's where we are with as far as implementing the items that were in the resolution so if anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them one of the things is that was apparent to me when you're speaking

was this may be a new topic to the community but it's not an old topic to the school district correct and you've had these things in place for years yes and they've been refined for years so um and that's a wonderful thing but but sometimes we forget just because it's a new topic in the news or in the world it's you've been doing this for years yeah and this is not it's not a new phenomenon yeah and you take care of the kids every single day yes I appreciate that I appreciate the very thorough update thank you um and I just want to say that um while a lot of this has been going on and and in progress for a while now with our staff um in some cases it's the first that some

of our parents have really been aware that our staff are doing these trainings and are working to say be respectful of children's names and pronouns and I've heard from several parents who've expressed a great deal of appreciation to know that staff are getting these trainings and are you know expected to be respectful of our of our students no matter what category they might fall in at any particular moment whatever those those diverse things are that the children bring with them I've I've had several parents reach out with a lot of relief to know that the staff is is ready to be welcoming of their students so I just want to say thank you for all of that effort well thank you and you know as Mrs Collier said earlier we want every student that walks

our Halls to feel safe and secure and ready to learn every day thank you for yeah thank you for the comprehensive update one question I had is on the age-appropriate materials for the libraries how are we determining the materials are age-appropriate for the building it's going into um so when you when you purchase materials there are grade levels that are on them as far as you know when you when you look through the catalogs um the as far as we only the materials that I know everybody's going to be worried about the elementary so um let me kind of address that so we don't have any materials in our elementary um buildings that necessarily talk about um anything to do with Dei Beyond you know being friendly to everyone it's just a matter of having

more inclusive people within the books same thing with transgender we're not addressing that directly we do have one book that's at every elementary school if we have a sibling that is transitioning so we've had we've had that happen a few times where we've had children in our elementary schools that have a lot of questions and and need to really work through that and that's only done with the school counselor present and with parent permission so that's a book about you know somebody's sister is now their brother um so and that's very developmentally appropriate I've seen that book and I'm glad that glad that we have it so um you know in the upper you know we start to get into High School curriculum you know there are there are topics that are discussed um that

um can be a little controversial but you know always done you know developmentally appropriately but we don't address some of those bigger issues you know our Littles aren't ready for those yeah thank you okay thank you very much all right thank you Christy at this time I would like to bring up Julie Miller and Aisha Collier who are going to be giving us um a lengthy detailed um exciting update on our academic progress and uh you know it's one thing to read about it in the paper and try to make sense of it and it's another thing to have somebody explain it to you in a little bit more detail that everybody can understand so that's what I've asked Mrs Miller and Mrs Collier to do this evening and we're really proud of it and

we'd like for them to present that tonight a little bit those slides okay okay are there any extras to yourself good evening I'm Aisha Collier k-6 curriculum supervisor and I'm Julie Miller the 712 curriculum supervisor foreign as part of our five-year strategic plan this presentation falls under the goals of academics and continuous Improvement we want to ensure our students are provided with Rich rigorous and align curriculum and assessments we also want to continuously improve our instructional practices through the use of strategic planning data analysis and professional development it is important that we have a culture of high expectation for our staff and students respect and accountability the five main areas that we will present today are State Testing Trend data sr3 initiatives Gap closing instructional coaching and impacts of programming that we put in place

using Esser grant money thank you Julie for giving us the overview of what we will be discussing this evening as we all are aware that State Testing only gives us a snapshot of how we are doing as a district with meeting the state level expectations it's also important to know that our state funding is tied to our state report card as well as school Improvement status as you look at this slide you can see the last three years of Ohio State testing data for third and fourth grade students the green shows that SMF is above the state average the orange indicates our scores are higher than they were pre-covet we have made good growth in third grade math and fourth grade English language arts this slide our data shows 5th and sixth grade State Testing

Trend data for the last three years again the green indicates that we were higher in the state average in that subject and grade the orange means that we have exceeded the state average as well as scored higher than we did pre-covered in those areas we have exceeded our previous scores in the area of fifth grade ELA English language arts fifth grade science sixth grade English language arts and sixth grade math moving on to the 712 state test Trends you'll see Kimpton is represented on the left side of the graphic and the high school is on the right the green highlighted boxes showed that for most of our state-tested areas we exceeded the state average and achievement which we're very proud of I would like to explain a little bit that in eighth grade we have

a number of students that formally accelerate to algebra 1. these students passed the algebra 1 and of course exam at a 92 percent rate if they did take that 8th grade math test our achievement would be much higher than 38 percent we continue to monitor that cohort of students and take action for our 8th grade math students to raise that achievement level and close the learning gaps Mrs Miller couldn't they take both um we've actually it's an excellent question we've been looking into that we've batted that around for the last couple of years um the answer is no um because our students are formally accelerated it'd be hard to justify with the state why they're taking an eighth grade math test and an algebra one test in the spring we we our question specifically was

to them was could they just take the eighth grade math test in the winter Administration the answer to that is no because only end of course exams at the high school are offered during that fall window and the third grade reading test so the eighth grade math test isn't available that would mean that our 8th graders would have to take math and Algebra 1 in the spring which would be a lot of testing for them a but also to show that our students are accelerated they're not they're not really taking eighth grade curriculum that year they're taking the algebra 1 course but we did look into that it's a good question uh the next couple of slides we'll hit some highlights of how we used our sr3 money to close gaps and increase achievement in

the last two years some of the sr3 initiatives at the k6 level that we use to support programming included data dies we use intentional data docs during hybrid destruction as well as teacher-based team meetings to calibrate our instruction and identify students needing additional support and enrichment Edmonton we use edmundum as a gap closing tool to support students with learning gaps in English language arts and Mathematics the Software System put them on an individualized learning path to support their learning and close different achievement gaps we expanded Kasich summer school in the past we only supported k6 case second summer school with Title One funding but through the use of assure funds we were able to expand and we were able to serve 105 students in 2021 and 90 students in 2022 during the summer school program

for Extended Learning opportunities we hired a third and fourth grade tutor to service students two two days a week at every Elementary School we identified students that had learning gaps in ela and Mathematics that were not already receiving Title 1 tutoring this initiative was huge because in the past we were not servicing fourth grade for tutoring due to funding for 712 the sr3 initiatives before the pandemic we had a part-time math tutor at Kimpton so we used grant money to extend the tutor to all day to service more students in math at 7th and 8th grade in addition to that we provided after school tutoring from September through May uh we also began to offer summer school for seventh and 8th graders which wasn't available before the pandemic we purchased IXL licenses for all students

in grades 7 through 10 for math in 9th and 10th grade students in English language arts uh also received some IXL licenses and some seventh and 8th grade targeted students in English language arts lastly we provided professional development for teachers in map reports training at the high school and ascd assessment training part of what we saw with the pandemic is we needed to increase our assessment portfolio and the tools that we use to see where the students are and how they're growing and and make sure we're understanding the data that we're reading the next few slides will explain the Gap closing for our students in state-tested subject areas one of the areas on the state report card is Gap closing indicator which is broken down by subgroups a subgroup consists of at least 15 students

within the same school that fall into one of the 10 categories as identified by the state of Ohio as you can see below some of those subgroups include black non-hispanic multi-racial economic disadvantage students with disabilities Asian Hispanic white and English language learners this visual shows our district subgroups achievement compared to the state goal for that particular subgroup and Julie's going to elaborate the goals indicated by the Red Dot on the on the graphic in most cases you can see we clearly surpassed the goal for that subgroup and remember that subgroups consist of at least 15 students within the school so if you're ever looking at the state report card online you will notice that there's a variation of subgroups across different buildings on that state report card Lakeview is actually our first school with more

than four subgroups our elementaries typically only have four subgroups of kids and then when they enter Lakeview there's more subgroups of students because there's more than 15 at that at that time some of the k6 Gap clothes and highlights all elementary buildings met the subgroup achievement goal by 100 in both English language arts and Mathematics at Lakeview intermediate we had 89 percent of our subgroups meet the achievement goal in both Ela and Mathematics and that was eight out of nine it was actually a new subgroup for our district and we kind of noticed the trend going from Lakeview to Kimpton to the high school so we'll be in more intentional and providing support for that particular subgroup foreign for both Kimpton and the high school we met or exceeded the goal in English language arts

for all of our subgroups Kimpton met or exceeded the achievement goal in six out of eight subgroups in math and the high school met or exceeded in six out of nine which is an increase since we had this data back in 2019. so we were very happy to see that currently the district pays for coaches at the k6 level out of title one and title 2A grant money we use instructional coaching to support the students and teachers within the district we have three amazing instructional coaches at our k-6 level that supports students and teachers the instructional coaches use the model of Student Center coaching to support teachers in goal setting collaboration co-teaching and reflecting on their instructional practices the Student Center coaching model is aligned to the Ohio provement process and the Ohio approvement process

is the cycle of inquiry that we use for our teacher-based team meetings as mentioned on an earlier slide we partnered with the ascd to provide ongoing coaching this year at Kimpton and the high school focused on assessment design and implementation so they were in person for our professional development days using our user money in April and then back in in August as well and then they're providing ongoing coaching support throughout the year at both Kimpton and the high school so we've shared some programming put in place using sr3 grant money we will share some impacts of this program now programming I'm sorry that we've seen so revisiting the programming that we put into place data dies our data dies have allowed us to be strategic about the students that we are providing interventions for as

well as provide additional support when needed our district map data indicates that many of our students made great progress in the area of ela and Mathematics with our momentum with our Gap closing tool when used with Fidelity by the students and teachers we saw a large amount of growth and progress for our students as evidence by their spring map assessment scores Kasich summer school we received positive feedback from parents and in the last two years we have service and tutored over 190 students the third and fourth grade ELA and math tutor by looking at our our OST and our map data 80 percent of our students that were tutored with by those tutors that were hired through Esser funds show growth and map and or score proficient on their OST for 712 first we sent

four curriculum facilitators at the high school a math teacher Ela teacher and special services as well teachers in that area received training and reports to lead teams at the high school and data conversations we offered summer school for the seventh and 8th grade students then in academic areas that they've struggled with during the year 54 students at Kimpton participated in the after school tutoring of which 30 percent made double-digit growth in map scores in math and 43 percent met or exceeded their growth goal IXL has given our teachers a tool to use during win time at Kimpton or during the 20 minutes of class a week at the high school to provide both remediation when necessary to address gaps in their instruction or their achievement but also provide enrichment as well so IXL is able

to provide enrichment to our students to move them beyond the goals that they have right now so one of our next steps for the office of teaching and learning at k6 we are currently creating a space of instructional coherence with the written taught and assess curriculum we're in the process of updating our curricular units we are being more intentional with our data protocols at teacher-based Team meetings in order to effectively support students that need additional support at rigor to our instruction for students that are high achieving as long as we have sr3 funds available we will continue with our third fourth grade tutoring support to help students close their learning gaps early prior to going to Lakeview intermediate uh 712 teachers are focusing on research-based assessment development and implementation the high school has created a

professional learning communities to design and refine units of instruction with a focus on assessment Kimpton began that work before but they continue to work on that this year with formative and summative assessment we also would like to as long as we can use the grant money for the rest of this year keep that expanded tutoring the tutor all day at the Kimpton Middle School for Math and provide the after-school tutoring as well for this year and and that's all we have we really thank you for your time and your attention to just being able to share with you so thank you very much [Applause] any questions why Yes actually I have a statement so it's really hard for me up here as a board member to contain my excitement because as a board member there's

not a lot of things that we do you know where we've we've got the superintendent the treasurer we do the board policies and the Strategic plan so to me the most important thing that we've ever done was get together and do the Strategic plan so a couple of years ago the board and the administration got together for days and created our vision of what the district was going to be like in five years most districts just do that put it on the wall and walk away but what I see here is the implementation of the Strategic plan and you hear it in every presentation the first thing you hear is this is our strategic plan this is part of the being a bulldog and it's so exciting because we can now as a community see

what the direction the school district's going and it's amazing it's very exciting and I'm very proud of you Mr Bratton for being able to do this as a strategic plan and then step back and let everybody do it you know let them grow I think that's pretty amazing um the one thing that really stood out to me when you were doing the presentation was how incredibly clear you were about your mission like the clarity that you two ladies just had for that presentation was amazing and you've done the presentation in my seven years you've done that but this time you nailed it because you're completely cleared on what you were doing because of the Strategic plan and for you to stand up here after covid and say the Gap was closed and the stone Monroe

Falls district has moved forward so much is just amazing and you have to be proud of yourselves and Mr Breton you guys have to be just beside yourselves so I really think it's amazing appreciate it thank you that's it that's it that's it yeah well I I certainly um thank you for the comments uh the the amount of work that these two have done as well as our academic coaches as well as every teacher and let's not forget the effort of our students because when when you know our students can blow this stuff off really easily and they don't they take it seriously because our teachers take it seriously and and they take it seriously because it comes from from you know leadership and and that goes all the way down and so this is

the first year I've been here in my nine years that I think we've really made some huge progress and in the toughest of times and it really showed the character of our of our staff and our students in doing so and I was ecstatic when I saw these report cards now don't get me wrong I don't take a lot of stake in report cards because you know there's so much more to this District than a report card and uh we're very proud of all those other things that we are but that was nice for them to get some accolades finally for all the hard work and and planning they put into everything so I want to thank you too and thank all of our building administrators as well as our teachers and our students uh

for getting us to this point because I am extremely extremely proud of this so thank you so Mr Bratton do we still have a building report no no we do not the building report was the Riverview um wire it's okay trying to read two different screens at once all right so we move on to comments from the audience citizens have an opportunity to bring their concerns before the Board of Education all comments should be directed to the board individuals presenting concerns enter questions to the board may not receive complete answers this same evening the board will study and consider your concern and will either have a board member or a central office administrator contact you as soon as the information you require is available comments in this section must be relative to an agenda item

citizens will have an opportunity to comment on non-agenda items at the end of the meeting comments comments will be limited to no longer than three minutes I am concerned by this overwhelming obsession with sex in this school can you start by introducing yourself please thank you my name's Dan Disney you've got two children in this District foreign why do we need resolutions to talk about people's sex life how's this an elect sexually harassing than a guy that wants to talk about his stripper pole he put up in his bedroom this constant constant obsession with sex in this school district is absurd I recently responded to an opt-out at a program at my daughter's school I made very clear that I want to opt out of all these orwellian Dei programs I was told I had

to individually opt out of each one you keep saying these things are optional but when you have to watch and watch and watch and opt out of each one that's not really optional if it's optional you should have to opt in that's optional but I have to constantly watch to make sure this absurd indoctrination is isn't happening to my children and then I have to follow up to make sure they actually acknowledge receipt of that opt-out it's time to end this abusive manipulative relationship with government by telling them no no more money until the over sexualization and extremist doctrination ends and a focus returns to education the school spends and spends to push an agenda but tells us it doesn't have enough money to actually educate our children not a penny more I'll be voting

against all levies until this ends and I encourage everyone else to do likewise [Applause] hi uh Aaron Yeager 733 West Market Street in Akron I want to respond to the previous commenter and just make the comment directed also toward the pride resolution I want to speak from my own personal experience as a gay man who went to who went to Stow schools I think the in the meeting where the pride resolution was brought up for vote I mentioned that when I attended still high school I was um I only knew of a couple people who were out and at the time that caused me to delay coming out myself until College what that means is I just basically suppressed part of who I was I wasn't as happy and I don't think I could give

my full self to really anything I could do um to get into the response to the last person's comment um when it comes to sexual identity it's not all about sex I myself and seeking a future partner to marry to have kids with and to buy a home with and I don't believe that it's unreasonable to talk about people who have parents who might be in this situation or any other situation I'm sure that there are students who have you know parents and same-sex relationships and I don't think it's a a bad thing to really mention that or other people who identify as lgbtq all that being said I want to once again thank Dr Wynn for bringing up this resolution and for the rest of the board for passing it I think it's a

huge step forward and we can see that just tonight by what Miss Prue said with the progress that the district is making so I want to commend everyone up here for doing that thank you mm-hmm I'm Jennifer Morris 5022 Pebble Pierce Drive Stow Ohio I'm here to say thank you for adding The Pride resolution this resolution has a positive impact on the lgbtqia plus students the lgbtqia plus students are one and a half to three times more likely to attempt suicide having resolutions in place gives students a voice and affirmation visibility is crucial to students as a mom to a child in the in the part of the community I can attest to how important this resolution is she didn't feel seen for many years this will help our kids feel part of the whole

Community as a teacher and a neighboring community and as our pride advisor to students in sixth seventh and eighth grade we had our first Pride meeting of the year today every student was excited to be there and said it's a place where they are free to be themselves and feel safe they stated that hopefully the world will feel this way one day too so again I'm here to thank you for the resolution and for passing it Lisa sarafian Stowe I have two daughters in the district and my son just graduated um I couldn't hear back there so I'm sure someone will get back to me but um regarding the Title IX I thought that it has not been ruled yet that we're they just closed public comments I was on I thought I heard that

you're following it because that's the rule the law but I don't know if those changes have gone through yet I like I said I couldn't hear back there it's kind of hard to hear um and I did want to say um thank you to Dr Hartman because I actually listened to the Tuesday talks um and he did say that he was that they were going to address the um the district report card and everything like that I am still concerned about math um so I'll be directing my questions maybe to Dr Hartman or someone else I'm worried about grade inflation where the kids maybe don't do that well on the map test and the standardized tests but they have an A or B in honors math and I think that that's a real concern and

I'd be willing to work with anyone on that because I did have a daughter that was in honors math and she was a little bit frustrated with that because she was setting the curve and working hard to achieve her grades and it just didn't seem fair so thank you any other comments move on okay Mr Bratton any comments about the consent agenda sorry I would like to recommend that the Board of Education approve the consent agenda items B through l also at this time I'd like to read the name and information of the donations listed in the consent agenda and personally thank them for what they do for our students and us that we need to get a first and second first drink okay do I have a motion to approve tonight's consent agenda so

moved second okay now I can go ahead okay um the following donated to Highland Elementary Tim Barnett donated 65 used binders uh Kirsty Corcoran donated miscellaneous school supplies Dairy Queen of stowed donated 55 Dilly Bars to the 21-22 field day Julia roach donated miscellaneous clothing to the clinic and the stone Monroe Falls rotary and high school interact Club donated school supplies the following donated to Fish Creek Elementary the stone Monroe Falls rotary the high school interact club and SMF nice donated school supplies and snacks and Vitalia Stowe Senior Living donated to miscellaneous school supplies other donations came to us in the way of Meyer donated 40 494.50 to be used for the staff t-shirts for the 22-23 school year we thank them every year for that as a huge donation to us uh the fall

SMF Community Foundation donated four thousand dollars to be used for Teacher mini grants that we um also create our board scholarships around as well uh between that and teacher mini Grant so thank you for that and the stone Monroe Falls Alliance Club donated backpacks for students in need at Kempton Middle School any questions or comments a roll call please wind aye Johnson Bowers aye leisler aye Brown aye we'll move on to the treasurer's consent agenda uh once I have a first and second I can start I can talk very briefly where brand new in the year so all righty do I have a motion so moved second so we're looking at the variance report one of the ideas are uh to see how we are relevant to anticipated numbers and right now our difference is

about three working days I would call that operationally very good Target wise the problem being is we're going to probably end a year if we were to end it about with three million dollars but that's not unanticipated along with what we face in fiscal year 24. so if you have any questions or would like to meet me and discuss in further detail I'll be more than happy to questions or comments or comment roll call please Johnson Bowers aye leisler aye wind aye Brown aye what are we up to now Treasures new business recommendations or Treasures new business there we go treasurer's recommendation sorry wrong screen okay so I'd like to I wish to recommend the Board of Education approve a transfer of fifty seven thousand dollars from general fund to Athletics and seventy five thousand

dollars from general fund to the turf replacement and I can explain the turf replacement okay very briefly all right do I have a motion so second so back in 2015 the board passed a resolution that there shall be each year a transfer of 25 000 to the turf replacement fund and what I had been doing is not transferring it but actually just writing a receipt to the turf replacement fund because I thought that the resolution served as a as an indication of an action in discussion with the Otters they said no you got to have it transferred which is this hence the action so okay questions or comments roll call please ler aye wind aye Johnson Bowers aye Brown aye great I wish to recommend the permanent Appropriations on exhibit 12 this is done every

year in September we can make adjustments during the year on all the funds we are fun General we are fund acknowledged with our auditor we need a motion for that I need a first a second vote I have a motion for that please so moved second any discussion questions comments okay the roll call please wind aye Johnson Bowers aye weissler aye Brown aye I asked the board uh approve the then announced certificate exhibit 13. we do need a first and second of motion this is again the money was available it is over three thousand dollars and I need the board to approve that do I have a motion so I moved second Johnson Bowers hi weissler aye wind aye Brown aye thank you all right we didn't do the uh number 10. okay did we

skip was there a Treasures recommendation oh yes there was that which one the item 10 um the asbo international certificate yeah brag about yourself yeah it's not an action to vote on but it's one of the things very often times being a finance officer you get very few times to recognize and acknowledge the people that work in your office and those that work in the district tirelessly to make sure that items are taken care of and handled properly and I want to read in just a sentence about the association of school business officials International and the recent award that we received the annual comprehensive financial report in Forum stakeholders taxpayers about the financial and economic state of the district making an important communication tool for building trust and engaging the school community by participating in

the certificate of excellence program school districts demonstrate their commitment to financial transparency one of the bigger things that I've done in the past and at any district is have always had marks on being transparent about the fiscal position or the fiscal spending on what we're doing this award is handed out by an international organization that looks after school business officials and it's graded by other school business officials so I'm very happy and proud of my office and the folks in this District that contribute to that information being handled properly congratulations thank you thank you it seems like you didn't do a enough job of this is huge so you know when we just say congratulations we we really are excited this just another reason to say like we are moving in the right direction it's

it's amazing and I know you're all humble down there but it's good I'm surprised anyone could stay awake through that sentence reading and acknowledgment of the such good Financial transparency I can stay awake for praise no problem so congratulations really I know you work hard I know your whole staff works very very hard and it's huge and it's a huge job and we really appreciate your efforts on behalf of the district but thank you very proud of the work you're doing um we'll move on to new business Mr Bratton uh this one's quick and easy need to know action this evening this is the first reading of Neola board policy volume 41. number one which is August of 20 of 22 and if you'll notice there is a ton of them here and each one

of you have a packet for your reading enjoyment and all of these are revised policies you'll notice there's nothing new here and so that usually is the the the the the belt that goes off in your head on revised policies those statutory changes so things that we are required to change so this is the first reading of that this evening no action is needed very good I have one other piece that I'll throw out in terms of new business a lot of questions about our new board member it is in the hands of Judge Stormer in the Summit County Probate Court I have no idea what her timeline will be I know she has a lot of information in her possession and it will be announced as soon as we know something so all right

we'll move on to our second round of comments citizens have an opportunity to bring their concerns before the Board of Education all comments should be directed to the board individuals presenting concerns and or questions of the board may not receive complete answers the same evening the board will study and consider your concern and we'll either have a board member or central office administrator contact you as soon as the information you require is available comments will be limited to no longer than three minutes thank you um my name is Jerry bettio I'm from Stow Ohio I am here tonight to address the vote of selecting of a new board member in the past two of our existing board members have backed the diversity and Equity issues for this District one member in particular went as far

as to submit to the board a resolution for the student and school body on this issue both of these board members have backed the black lives movement and issues and even campaigned campaigned on it but I see when push came to shove on voting on a new board member their diversity and Equity issue didn't seem to matter I have been told that the gentleman who was voted on by two of the four board members is well qualified and yet those who cried diversity and Equity Equity didn't cast their vote for him I ask why not if this board wanted divorce divorce diversity uh another male figure would be that and of course his being a person of color would have fit the issue of diversity and equity I believe these two board members have failed

in their position and have been hypocritical in their decisions thank you any other comments all right anything else from anybody all right we are adjourned at I think eight o'clock we need to vote oh oh that's right shoot do I have a motion to adjourn so moved second all right roll call leisler aye Wynn hi it's Johnson Bowers hi bro hi we are adjourned at 801.
