I'd like to call the Trotwood Madison May 18th regular meeting to order please Miss Allen would you call the roll yes Mrs Cherry yes Mr Davis yes Mr Anderson yes Miss Moore yes Mrs Jeter Freeman yes if we would stand for the pledgeably I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands foreign and now we will have the mission statement read by Westbrook Village Elementary students and we have more than one this time we're honored we have Jakari Davis we have Myron McGee Audrey Hall Angel Garo Leanne Metcalf and Riley Glover thank you we are the rising Rams of Westbrook Village our mission is to show everyone that we are communities collaborate and sing quickly the government will show respect accept accountability maintain motivation
practice self-control that celebrate success every day wow thank you thank you thank you everybody thank you thank you it was a great job thank you all so much thank you this is really a treat and you all did an excellent job you are our future leaders then um keep keep speaking you're doing well and now I like the motion to adopt the agenda I'll move to adopt the agenda a second it's been properly moved and second are there any changes yes we have changes I have brought in a hand carry which you should have at your seat and that hand carry um will be added to the Personnel agenda is hc1 he said h h c 1 through hc6 HC is for hand carry oh so it'll just be added to the back of the
Personnel agenda okay any others president Freeman um I don't know I'm looking at the executive session item yes um I know there was an email that came through today from Miss Harris a parent that was going to speak last meeting I didn't know if she was here or not do is Miss Harris here and I did not check my email and that's okay okay yeah it was just a follow-up from our last meeting wanted an opportunity to appeal before the board but um not here I guess we can move forward okay [Music] I thought we were going to have another executive session are we having two or yes okay so and I was I'm sorry I was gonna move one to after the either after the treasurer's report or the presentation or consent agenda yeah
I was thinking um logistically it might be good to have before the consent agenda so that would probably be after the break at the debris thank you so it would be item five and then all these subsequent items would fall beneath so we will add a board we will add an item five executive session and it will be for the same reason stated in item 12a yes do you want me to read it yeah thank you are there any other changes okay um it would be now item nine since we added five under discussion and follow-up items I've asked for the last five months for the not only the Esser funds balance but the substitution costs this is evaluation not in the in the treasury report but less more I did send that information to
you okay well maybe the substitute cost and I sent the answer balances also the Esther balances are part of the financial report for this month and so it's under the executive tab okay I didn't get it so I I did not see it so what I'd like to do is get that information during this meeting please thank you I didn't get it so I would like to have that number during this meeting please please so you're asking to add still item eight B yes for substitute cost yes you want to speak to it or did you just want that I just wanted the information I've been asking and and if it's in there we you can share that with us so I I need to find an email and then yeah there was an email
that sent into US yeah okay so what what was your pleasure my pleasure would be the information in the email and an email well the information that you put together for the board yes I would like that address okay during these discussions all right items okay so yes no problem I will have that and I'll have a hard copy as well thank you so that would be discussion item 90. okay so if there are no other changes the changes I have thus far we're going to add in executive session as item now it will be 5A it will be still 4A the remaining items will drop down so consent agenda will now be we're going to add the executive session as for B really it would it would probably be five five five eight okay
so we'll add the executive session is 5A before the consent agenda consent agenda will now be six and all the following will drop down we will add a hand carry to item eight be the Personnel agenda and we will also add item 9B substitute costs I thought you wanted to answer balance as well yes so 9B would be substitute cost and the answer balance yes it's that it's already on there as item a that's you just said Item B yeah right now items okay yeah okay okay um if you would uh call the road okay Miss Moore yes Mr Anderson yes Mr Davis yes Mrs Cherry yes Mrs Jeter Freeman yes the motion passes to adopt the agenda with the changes to add an executive session after presentations and also to add in the hand
carry and to add the item for the substitute cost as item 90. now we will move to community Commerce uh does anyone want to address the board I don't have anything thank you well now the highlight of the meeting yes Miss Moore under the presentations presentation a smart Talent awesome respected she had to cancel oh okay okay conflict then we will go to presentation B the National Conference for community and Justice of Greater Dayton Spidey presented by Alexis Weber and Lake Miller thank you great to see you as well well good afternoon everyone thank you for having us uh we did not practice something in unison I guess we did not get the the memo on on reading something beautiful the young students did a beautiful job doing that uh but we well speak uh
and have some wonderful high school students with us as well who we're going to go through a brief presentation and they're going to talk about some of their experiences um afterwards so um real fast my name is Lake Miller I'm the Director of Education with the National Conference for community and Justice of Greater Dayton uh thank you all for having us here to speak with you and also thank you for allowing us into your schools I oftentimes say as an individual who works with youth that there is no privilege in someone's life like being able to be part of the education Journey with a young person and so we're very thankful for the opportunity to work with your students and not just your students but the wonderful faculty that we get to work alongside as
we come in so we wanted to take a quick moment to briefly share a little bit about nccj and the Spy program which we piloted this year for the first time in Trotwood and so share a little bit about the program in general and then I'm going to pass off to my colleague Alexis in a moment who's going to share a little bit about what we did this year at Trotwood and then give our young students an opportunity here to share their own kind of personal Journey going through Spidey and why they are interacting with Spidey so real fast nccj the National Conference for community and Justice of Greater Dayton is a diversity and inclusion nonprofit here in Dayton we've been serving the Dayton Community since 1978 so for 45 years we've proudly been working
here in the community we have three work or three pillars of uh our work here at nccj so workplace professional development so we had the opportunity even at the beginning of last school year to do some professional development with your Educators who were wonderful but we do professional develop throughout the region Community advocacy and action and so that includes us identifying gaps in the community and working to find services that can fill those gaps and then youth leadership development is about 70 percent of what our organization does and so that's everything from summer camps and school-based programs to Retreats during the school year and so very excited to have Trotwood is one of those schools that we have the opportunity to work with uh so before we go into what we did here at Trotwood
this year I want to just touch on what Spidey actually is so Spidey uh is an acronym students promoting inclusion diversity and Equity through education um Spidey is a youth-led model that we provide in school districts um Trotwood is one of six districts that nccj is working with to do Spidey but overall amongst all of our programs we're in about 25 different school districts in the Dayton area providing Services uh so Spidey is this as a youth-led program made up of high school students teams of high school students work with other students in the district typically younger students in the case of Trotwood and like I said Alexis will touch on this we were working with middle school students as the younger population our high school students are presenting workshops on diversity to those students
and then as Spidey group members help the students understand the importance of inclusion diversity respect trust support communication and other topics that the student students decide to cover what's really important is that we are just providing a platform for your young people and so the young people get to determine what they think is important to share with their peers and so we don't go into the high school saying here's the six things you're going to teach this year the high school students say to us here from our experience in our district is what we think would have been helpful to know in middle school and so they have that opportunity to really figure out what that's going to look like Spidey nccj created in 2010 in Yellow Springs is our Pilot School like I said
from there we've grown to six districts who are implementing Spidey district-wide and it's based off of a group called score from Shaker Heights in the Cleveland area score is celebrating their 40th year in this upcoming year and has wonderful success they have done a lot in score scores focusing primarily on race relations and score has really impacted the culture of inclusion around race in the Shaker Heights community all right um so real fast just want to kind of show the structure I want to make sure I leave time for the students because I know I'm limited to 10 minutes so uh just kind of looking at this map to help you all kind of visualize what Spidey looks like um so at the top we have our school district and our advisor uh thank you
all very much because we have a fabulous uh Team of advisors that we are able to work with nothing but support from the district so at the top we have our school district and our advisor the advisor Works alongside nccj and then we work with team leaders and these are high school students who are able to really rise into a leadership role those high school team leaders then work with other high school students who would be their team members and so if I was a team lead I'm not because I'm not in high school but if I was a team lead I would have five or six other high school students that work alongside me we meet frequently and prepare to then go into an elementary or middle school classroom so that's just kind of
looking at the structure and then like we said the curriculum is very flexible depending on the district um but we work on trust inclusion diversity stereotypes um deferred judgment Prejudice discrimination communication uh we do interactive lessons so we don't want the high school students to stand in front of the room and just lecture because we know that that is not what the high school students want to do and that's not what the middle school students want to see and so they get to do this through an interactive way they this year as we piloted we're only able to go into the middle school once but as we expand and we have some more ability the students will be going in ideally multiple times through the year and then it is a youth created curriculum and
a youth run program but we always have nccj members of our team who are there to help and provide any support with the students have I'm going to pass it over to Alexis hello everybody can you hear me if I stand like this okay perfect so my name is Alexis Webster I am so honored so thankful to be able to do work in Trotwood because I actually graduated from Trotwood so it's like being back home and I'm just ecstatic about that I'm just so thankful um so as of yesterday we were able to do our first presentation with middle school students they talked about bullying prevention self-care and why you should have respect for yourself and others some of the things that they did we did a kahoot and they got to do a skit
of their own what were some other things we did oh yeah yeah so they did like a book it sorry I just couldn't hear oh okay so we did blicking and with look it they had like different ways that they could play the game so they got to explore creative thinking on a couple different levels um we did an activity where we all just get together and learn more about each other we don't have to talk about our differences but we see them in they're reflected in different ways um they also got to have lunch with them and we have mostly eighth graders so they were able to sit and talk to them and prepare themselves for the next year here are some pictures um I was just up here to tell you all what
we got to do yesterday so I'm gonna let them explain why Spidey is important to them and then I'll come back and give you all our next steps for Spidey hi my name is lyrics and if I could explain Spidey in one word I would definitely say leadership because the out the the amount of like because most kids they have to have somebody to look up to and they have to have certain things and most kids want to go with how it was popular and what's other stuff but us showing that leadership in ourselves they see us as almost like a big brother or a big sister and we can be that encouragement to them and I love Spidey because it really like it not only it not only helps us with leadership like without
outside kids but also as a team because you know as a team most people know as a team you have to get to know your team a little more so you can be more successful so as a team we learn more about each other each other's traumas each other's differences and actually made us stronger together so that we can make the other kids that didn't really have this or they have different things going on at home to just better them as a person and it's really great I really love it like I really do thank you hi good evening my name is Armani um a lot of the stuff that lyrics has touched on is what I was going to say I really do enjoy Spidey because it it lets me I'm a very quiet
reserved person but it lets me see it lets me give them the opportunity that I wished I had I didn't have any leadership um going into high school but us being able to tell them that no matter what there's somebody who's there or what it's going to be like going into High School giving them different opinions instead of what they see in the movies because High School is definitely not what I thought it was in the movies um it really gives me that Joy knowing that I can get back to these other students I was going to say a lot more but lyrics has already touched on it so um hi made me um Spidey is like basically when when they say oh we have a spidey meeting happiness comes within me because like we
like what they touched on basically we're like basically family now at this point and usually I'm like off to the side quiet but Spidey has gave me an opportunity to you know like them basically like they give me an opportunity to like open up more like come out of my shell and meeting new people knowing that I'm not the only one who to go through certain things it really thank you all um I am extremely proud of my of our Spidey group because we wouldn't be able to do this without the help from you all um yesterday they showed leadership skills that I didn't even know that they had and I've been meeting with them so I was like okay here we go and they did Stellar truly amazing so I'm so excited for what's
to come which includes we would like to start meeting in the summer so that we can begin building those relationships that they talked about continue that family feel that Spidey has we want to do an agents of change which is another program that nccj offers which helps with getting into that diversity equity and inclusion process of it really teaching them how to be allies for all the different marginalized communities and then just getting to know each other and then planning recruitment for next year as like said we want to be able to go into multiple classrooms at the same time we need more bodies to do that so just really building our Spidey team having a great time learning each other and just um providing great work does anyone have any questions about Spidey so
how many students are involved in Spidey this year currently we have 14 consistent Spidey members okay and how often do you do uh weekly yes and once a week oh it's very good are there requirements like can any student so if I have you know I I might have a little mark on my report so any student who is willing to join and has a positive outlook on diversity they want to start to create a positive change in this culture of the school I'm pretty much happy to take I think that if we start to like put people out because they have a ding or they have a Nick then why would they build better for themselves it's kind of my thought we do um try to keep like Behavior okay if you're going to
be in Spidey be a spidey leader so yeah yes ma'am any other questions yeah I would say my the other piece is our goal is to keep somebody in the program right and so um I'll say uh like our folks at the high school have been Fearless ambassadors and um what's been really wonderful is if somebody's grades start slipping if something happens behavioral our goal is really to figure out what's causing that right and how can we help you um to be able to stay part of the program and fix whatever's causing that slip or whatever um is happening there so we want to be part of that restorative process with our young people um and you know really take that holistic approach to helping them be successful not just in the program but beyond
the program as well at the middle school so this year for Spidey they had um nine we however did changing in the Middle with the entire Middle School population yeah so all middle school students did receive anti-bullying diversity education from nccj not through the lens of Spidey yet but the goal next year would be that a majority of the students would as well yeah is there a cost to the district or so all of nccj's programs are funded through the Montgomery County Adams board and provided to the district for no cost very good well thank you all very much thank you and our to our students you're so well spoken you're definitely on your track to be a leader so find Opportunities this summer look for leadership camps and every opportunity you can you can

Cherry yes with Anderson yes yes and the motion passes the second item I have is approval of the April 2023 Financial reports there are three reports in your packets we did have a finance committee meeting this evening first um report is the cash reconciliation for April and it indicates our bank statement balances and our investment balances that totals 36 million three hundred and fifteen thousand eight hundred and thirty one dollars and nineteen cents there were outstanding checks and adjustments and a total of 937 969.72 cents that does bring the bank balance to 35 million 377 861.47 and that does match exactly to the financial system we call that meta the second report is our spending plan summary and that is through April of 2023 we had monthly actuals and I just wanted to bring your
attention that we did get our real estate property of taxes which made the fiscal year to date um about 210 000 more than we received last year so I was very excited about that also for in the case of Revenue and the expenditures for April as well as our fiscal year to date or excess Revenue we have 3.2 million dollars the revenue over expenditures through the month of April and for fiscal year to date that'll be 6.2 million dollars fiscal year today through April the last report is checks over a thousand dollars there were questions about Montgomery County checks 1101041 in the amount of the amount of thousand five hundred and forty dollars and check 110195 in the amount of Thirteen thousand one hundred and sixty dollars I did pull those checks and those those
checks were for tuition for special for students with disability and students in detention and also tuition for students in detention and that was those two checks and those two amounts other question we had was check 1101047 and 1101-1154 both in the amount of eight thousand seventy five dollars and that was made out to Warren County ESC that is for one student and I I'm looking at the invoice and and how it was billed and that student obviously is being um tutored at Warren County ESC and so it is for one one child and that and that those two checks are for once for March and the other one is for April like action on those three reports that there's no other questions one moment please okay um I think we're at motion I'll take a
motion for the checks over a thousand dollars is it a motion for the approval of the financial report yes okay just that one right okay yeah I'll move oh that's okay I was looking at yeah I know I'm a little uh for a Treasures report items 7B for approve approval 20 23 Financial reports that it's been properly moved by miss one second by Miss Cherry are there any questions if not Miss Allen would you call the rule yes Miss Moore yes Mrs Cherry yes Mr Anderson yes Mr Davis yes and Mrs tutor Freeman yes demolition uh is proof on the um 7c is the approval of amended Appropriations for fiscal year 2023 the only change from the last time last month playlist last month was a increase of ten thousand dollars for fund 200 which
is student managed activity so that brings the new total for all of the Appropriations to be 77 million 668.27 and again I would like ask approval for the amended appropriation okay I will take a motion to approve item Seven Seas approval of amended Appropriations almost to accept item City approval of the amendment Appropriations for fiscal year 2023 treasurer's item 7c I'll second properly moved by Miss Martin second by Miss Terry Miss Island that you call the world Miss Moore yes Mrs Cherry yes Mr Anderson yes Mr Davis yes and Mrs Dieter Freeman yes the motion passes and I have one other item approval of cash transfer of funds for fiscal year ending June 30th 2023. we are asking that a transfer be made from the drama club account to the class of 2024 to pay
for expenses in the amount of six thousand dollars and I had to bring that to to the board because it's a transfer between funds and I asked your approval for that as well motion I will accept emotion the cash transfer the funds for fiscal year ending 30. 2023 I'll move to accept Treasures item 70 approval of cash transfers and funds for fiscal here in May in June 30th 2023 I'll second it's been properly moved by Miss Moore and seconded by Miss Cherry to approve item 7D Ms Alan with Chicago role yes Miss Moore yes Mrs Cherry yes Mr Davis yes Mr Anderson yes and Mrs Jeter Freeman yes the motion is approved okay and thank you you're welcome move into the superintendent's report all right good evening everyone I have just two items today the
first one is a request for extended days for our counselors and this is for action um this is a recommendation for the following trial with Madison High School counselors to work extended days from May 29th through June 2nd 2023 they are Heather Brock Rihanna Griffin Maya Hague and Sharon Jones they'll be working to assist with summer school provide an accurate list of all credits load students in the appropriate Apex courses and other duties necessary to secure data for the school state report card thank you I'll take a motion to approve the request for extended days for our counselors item 8A I like to make a motion to extend the days for our high school counselor to work extended days from May 29th to June 2nd for Miss Heather Brooks Miss Griff and Miss Hague and
Miss Jones from yeah one second okay it's been properly moved by Mr Anderson and second by Miss Cherry Miss Allen would you call them are there any discussions questions I have a car Mission um I'm glad that there's going to be help to make sure that the Apex and all those things are taken care of and I was just wondering what the additional cost would be good could we possibly get that information yeah other than that no matter what you think um knowing what we're spending for those services okay any other comments recess to get the information we wanted to have a recess to hold and I did speak on behalf of the board that we would super until either Saturday or the next meeting what is your pleasure I believe that there needs to
be help in the summer and when we talk about the Apex and we talk about credits and credit recovery and all those things that's been a big huge missing piece in the summer having folks to make sure students are where they're supposed to be I think need it is going to cost the district I was just curious as to what that cost would be because there it is extra work it's for people is that correct yeah yeah so I think that Saturday would be appropriate for for that particular expenditure it's it's the pleasure of the board yeah but the item is necessary every item is so I don't have a problem with the item I just would like to know the cats so so we're going to take a vote on it today so that
I would be okay with that because it's the end of the year and you're starting to get them Wesley says May 29th yeah and today's the 18th we won't meet another comment we normally approve the extended days every year so in my head I'm thinking do we extend those days because we need them and we can think about that and discuss it on Saturday but yes yes yeah we do need them yeah so their work week year is probably plus however many days this is some things like grades come in at the last minute all that happens and and so they need to you know get those things out for those students as they're preparing to go out to college we've had situations Madam chair um kids needed their transcripts right um and for college

any discussion and are we clear that that's the actual number right it is the number that shows on our schedule for the amount that he was making at this time okay I just wanted to be clear on that if there are no other questions is Alan would you call the father Yes abstaining on C1 wait I'm sorry um yes Jerry yes well I'm standing on C1 Mr Davis yes abstaining on C1 uh yes abstain on C1 and on A5 or Jarrell Freeman C1 and A5 yes so it appears that the motion passed with the exception of C1 is that what I'm what it looks like to me so we've made a decision that our see are we through with with my Personnel agenda yes yes we will revisit the Saturday their personal agenda on Saturday
and executive session C1 I said see what on Saturday not a no that was an abstinence next item okay next uh my computer is early it says it runs back yeah it's nine item nine discussion follow-up items and updates a is Esther Fallon's and I can say it president Freeman if it's okay your item yes yes please and Item B is the substitution cost and I I'll defer to this Apple okay so um item nine a is the Esser bonds balance that Miss Moore asked about and I I sent one on May 12th at 1102 to all the board members but today I actually updated the grant spreadsheet to include as of today all expenditures and all encumbrances and so Miss Moore you ask about I'm thinking sr2 if you look on the sheet that
I've handed out answer to the allocation for this year were 1.8 million dollars we've spent one almost 1.4 million dollars there's four hundred and thirteen thousand dollars on that line available that's sr2 ARP Esser is sr3 of the allocation was 10 million 737 578.97 we've spent almost 5.3 million dollars there are purchase orders or encumbrances that are have not yet been paid in the amount of 905 5934.91 leaving a balance of 4 million I think 531 966.19 and um we had discussed that we would would bring a a very quick presentation small presentation on Saturday to give you even more information for that thank you that's is that a is that fine I miss more okay and then we have seven b that you ask about that I again sent now this is I did
send this I just made a copy that was also sent on May 12th at 1102 um the FY 23 substitute cost so what I did in this top you have Elementary you have Middle School you have high school you have food FS Food Service you have Sr expenditures you have second secretarial substitute calls you have AIDS custodians and maintenance so you have a substitute cost that we were able to glean from the financial system you have an internal sub cost and what that is is um when there's a was when there is not a teacher available a teacher can then take on other students and they get an internal cost um stipend for that then you have after school for food service and I have summer for food service so the totals at the bottom
Elementary you can see elementary middle school high school all the way across and the total for all of that is 779 366.62 cents okay okay in substitute cost yes let me ask you about the essay that Esser that 493 000 that's those teachers that are absolutely those are the reserve teach reserves absolutely those are the ones that we pay Professor Bell okay thank you you're I appreciate the information no problem my pleasure Madam president no other items under okay um treasurer's comments couple comments I I wrote this so I want to read it I had an awesome opportunity to judge the senior projects last week I judge presentation from to Tamia Drake Ayanna Jones and Aylen miles I was I was floored I really enjoyed their presentations I also I also had an opportunity to
meet Portia Hill from the city of Trotwood she's the their HR generalist that came to judge with us so thank you very much Miss Hill for that also today I presented two oasville scholarships one for five hundred dollars and the other one five hundred dollars to Daniel Singleton and a thousand dollar scholarship to Myron Bozeman so I was very proud to borrow those my run Bozeman that is Myra's son okay um but he wasn't um they had gone on a field trip and he wasn't physical there so that's my um my report thank you you're welcome and now we will move to superintendent commits yeah I have um a couple of comments that I would like to make first off I want to make sure that my hard-working dedicated administrators who have been in this
district for quite some time who have put in many hours of work understand that in no way is this from my standpoint no way is this any indication that we believe that they should not be in position doing the work that they're doing for Trotwood I am concerned because we are moving into June they have been under the impression that they would be back here working for this district and I hope that they come back here and work for our district because to find people who care and are as dedicated as this group is is going to be difficult if we find ourselves in that position so I just want to make sure that the board is is where and that they understand how I feel about my team um so that's the first thing
that I would like to say then I would like to say that um we had our heroes of the household presentations yesterday our meeting we had two one at 10 o'clock we had good attendance there I was um extremely pleased with the Insight that the parents who came brought with them then we had a six o'clock one because we were attempting of course to accommodate all parents and we had a good representation of parents at that one we have parents who have children in all of our buildings who had um a lot that they want to give to one another to help each other they want us to be sure that we're holding their kids to a very high expectations and they want to hold one another to high expectations as well as this staff
so I'm excited about that program I feel I'm pretty positive that it will continue and continue in a big way we're going to have a virtual meeting in June we've decided that we will do some virtual and some in person and so that is our next move forward with that we do have on on that I was really trying to get to one of them but I just couldn't make it and I really hate I missed it but do we we have a capture of the parents that attend it right oh yes we have all of their information we have pictures that will be posted on Facebook they on all of their social media they were excited about that they all received their Heroes of the household t-shirts we had a good time we actually
did raffles and and gave gave gift cards out and so we were talking about how do we bring in more people and they said they thought we covered most everything we had meals t-shirts and gift cards I mean and maybe we can incentivize the one that came to bring Warner to somebody and you're incentivized if you bring one you're gonna send a thighs more if you bring two it's a thought we did we do want to grow it we want to grow the group and um the types of topics that they want to talk about I think are very important and I do think it will make success for our staff for our I mean our families the other thing I wanted to acknowledge was the Spidey program I know Miss Gita Freeman you're in
particular really like this student leadership team oh I loved it yes and we do have some student leadership things happening and some of that will also happen in the summer and I'm really excited about it too that is a good group I've been involved with some of those other programs that they mentioned yeah they were so well spoken all right then I won't say anything about that I will finish at this point thank you all right and now we will go to board covers Mr Anderson greetings everyone um I wanted to piggyback on Dr Cosby um her comments um that she made tonight I want to be very clear as a board member of Trotwood Madison City School um and for the people who are watching virtually who are in-house into the awesome staff of
Trotwood Madison um coming from me um I do sincerely appreciate the hard work and dedication that the staff Trotwood Madison City schools have made for the past several years and definitely this year long coming from a pandemic year I do not take that for granted of the tires tireless work and effort and dedication that has been made for the students of Trotwood Madison City schools but as a elected official as someone who's been appointed to this board um to continue to make strides for our district I just wanted to everyone to know that it's not always easy um making a tough decision but if we want to continue the Legacy if we want to to continue to move this District forward um in the Excellence as the students expressed earlier today in the uh in
our mission statement there's going to have to be a few changes that take place um there's going to be some feathers ruffled um but that's what a lot of people on this board has been elected to do and as our Treasurer brings forth our five-year forecast and we think about things that are taking place now and leading up to that there's going to be some changes that are made so I just want everybody to realize that for myself we do appreciate the staff hard work and dedication that's all I have for this evening I guess I need to come up on here well currently right now um to all that are listening if they're not in attendance today we have an Eclectic blend of music tonight it's been going on for roughly about an hour
and we have some of our most inclined musical Talent um directors of the band we have Mr Bain music our music technology teacher has emailed me this great little piece on it and um I just want if you guys have time or if you're in the area please go check that out those kids really really get down on music and um we love to encourage that a short sweet to the point um greetings everybody I hope everybody's uh weekend went well and week is going well and um I'm kind of just pleased with our communication at this point uh Madam treasurer uh thank you for your patience and um thank you for your transparency and communication tonight and thank you for all of the patients you exhibit when we're uh throwing a lot of tasks
or asking or requesting a lot of you I always appreciate that um even if it comes out very uh harsh or quick um and that will be it I digress just remember everybody we can be anything you can go get Associates you go get a doctor and go get a PhD you can even be president if you really try hard enough at any position in this world I'm assuming but what we can do and the easy method is just be kind that's the easiest one we can do out of all of them is be kind I mean Dr Lloyd be kind that one you don't even need a degree to do or Associates I digress Madam president okay and now we will move to Miss Moore I'm going to be very short and very sweet
um first of all um congratulations to the teachers and the employees of the year that was amazing we have such Stellar Stellar staff and just We Salute You and we honor you and thank you for being a part of our Trotwood Madison City District family also the presentation from the National Conference for community and Justice of Greater Dayton it's bye that was amazing we've been talking about leadership all along I don't know who brought them forth but I want to say thank you it was that superintendent yeah thank you superintendent for bringing those type presentations forward because we talk about leadership not only do we talk about it but we walk the walk and that was amazing so again I want to say thank you the Muse machine the two students that were here it
takes a lot of guts to get up and perform in front of a board of education superintendent Treasurer but you know what their courageous those are leaders that signifies leaders so thank you for bringing that forward as well um I also lastly want to just share that the board is making some very tough decisions we appreciate each and every employee of this District don't think that we do not there are questions um that um we have there are things that will come together and mitigate to the middle we're going to be looking at things at our Retreat on Saturday and move forward with um the recommendations however like I said the board has questions want to get those questions answered and again it's about being responsible to the citizens of trotlet citizens you're the boss
we work for you and we're here to make sure that we represent you well thank you and Miss Cherry good afternoon first I would like to recognize all the seniors for the senior recognition today congratulations to you all congratulations to our childhood Madison students who graduated from Miami Valley CTC on yesterday I do applaud the family um I also want to apply the um the students who read the mission statement they were phenomenal and everyone has already mentioned about the the music machine and they were great as well of what like for the staff to understand that um delayed is not denied and we do appreciate what you all do I want to personally thank Mr Stone and Dr Cosby for um making a private ceremony for one of our students at Kendrick hospital yesterday
the family was elated and very grateful and thankful for you guys taking the time out to do that it meant everything to them so I want to say thank you so very much I really do I also wanted to say one of the things that the presentation the Speedy one of the things that they said that stood out to me really was building relationships that is so important that is so important and so I would like to build relationships with our staff and our students here at Trotwood we need to change the climate of Trotwood that's what we need to do and one thing I want to say is I agree with Mr Davis it don't take nothing to be kind and to be nice it doesn't it doesn't cost a thing so with that
being said that's all I have to say for this evening and everyone has pretty much said everything the highlight it's a good meeting because we have the best of the best and of our staff and our recognition of our all of our staff and our students and I appreciate that Westbrook didn't send one student to read but they sent she sent I think it was four and they were in unison and they they were really really confident and I'd like to see that we're building at the early years that confidence within our students that they can go and they can speak but the other thing if you notice they work together at that age at the elementary level they work together and hopefully they carry that forward that whatever team they're on they work together
and you know that is no easy thing to do because you have they have four different little personalities but that teacher was able to get the best of both of them so that's what we as adults have to do as well and to the leadership there the spideys oh they were really really on point so Dr Cosby you're right that we have really good pockets of things that we have to make sure we're highlighting them and sharing and to our administrators in no way hold your head down in no way be worried you're good but there are things that we will need to look at to make sure that we have those set right so no undertones don't read anything into that and if possible I'd like this floor to have that on the agenda
for The Retreat on Saturday I would not like to I myself you know you treat others as you would want to be treated and I would not want to go into the next month not knowing my position for my you know for my yeah my livelihoods so we will include that on the retreat for Saturday and with that um I think we still have one more thing doing yes um item 13. okay item 13. I would like the motion to move into executive session to consider the appointment employment dismissal discipline promotion demotion or compensation of a Public Employee or official or the investigation of charges and complaints against the Public Employee official license C or regulated individual per board of ed policy zero one six six and orc 12122 action may be taken and I'll
take a motion I know there's two items there oh we do have an item a so the one I just read will be Item B yes we have item a and uh if someone has it and can read it em eight two consecutive yes would you please read it yes please to consider the appointment employment no no not that one here it was on the can somewhere yeah under orc 33 13.66e parent gardening custodial right to appeal people expulsion or and or suspension that is item a and Item B is the one that I read and we will move into executive session do we have a motion I'll I'll move I'll move to go into executive session item 13. a and B as presented okay five second it's been properly moved by Miss Morgan's second
