001foreign okay looks like we're ready can everyone hear me good yep okay all right we'll get started uh the May 22 2023 Forest Grove School District Board of Directors meeting is called to order at 5 31 pm uh roll call vote of board members present uh I'm present Mark Everett president president okay thank you uh if you would join me in the flood the flags Loop I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you okay introductions of audience and staff um I don't know who's there but we'll just go through the that's okay student services okay Enrique ignown technology David Communications Clark news facilities I'd include business okay thank you approval

003track is this weekend um our spring Sports assembly will be on Thursday and then a couple of senior Sunset is going to be on June 2nd and then Kirkland wanted me to let you know um that we will probably be partnering with communicare next year for Community Improvement um it's basically what I have heard so far is it's grants that we like asked for um and then it will help with like whatever we really need so it also helps with sparrow and we can get money for them too um you also put in there and I'm just gonna say he said also hashtag make Glencoe our arrivals um so take that as you want um other than that right now we're kind of just going on for next year and getting ready for that um

004our for ASB our transition to the new power and so the new president will be on June 2nd as well um we'll be switching over and so from that they own they will be good um other than that just graduations coming up and so a lot of finals and stuff and classes but hey thank you thanks uh Miley all right uh Mr Parker um turn it over to you thank you first I wanted to start with just an update on the Cornelius design Advisory Group if you let me know kind of where we're at with that process the um original meetings did a lot of work kind of figured out they've now talk for well over a thousand people with community members students and all the different groups that actually work um in and around

005the district they met with the design committee they kind of took all that information in and began to kind of talk about what it means they kind of narrowed all that information down into kind of six um themes that there as they build the school they're designing around the first one being welcome including their conversations with the community was all about how the school is part of that Community a really strong part of that Community second was reflect Cornelius culture it's important that we reflect not only our Latin influences but also it's been around a long time and had a history um celebrate the community connections with a lot of community and Connections in that space be comfortable and safe so we're designing with that in mind um invite play they want the structure to

006be fun and to invite play I was driving by there this weekend on Saturday and again there were probably 150 200 kids out in the field was playing soccer and families and so again I think it's just again a great theme for us the last one was encourage academic texts which again we're there for a purpose um they've spent time with the Design Group kind of figuring out adjacencies like what needs to be next to what they did a fun little project we looked like a pizza I don't know it's kind of a round and then you would put the different things that if we know the library needs to be in here and put those pieces of the pie closer together they've taken all of that and they've now kind of been through several

007rounds of schematics today I mean we're really close to kind of locking in on a base schematic of the building uh K stopped last time around I'll try and send it out to the board and see if we can kind of go look and see what they're talking about there um today was the first time that they showed us um in our Cornelius meeting kind of they're starting to talk about being outside and what it looks like and what the materials will be like there's a lot of conversation in the bag about um trying to bring in one not only materials that last but also bringing in some some of our Latin cultures some of the Cornelius culture and there's buildings all around it a new library in Virginia Garcia we don't want to build

008a building that's just totally um doesn't have some way of kind of matching those pieces so they're beginning to now put some outside the thoughts together um the or they're going to get started they're actually going to be done with this schematic sometime near the end of this run just the next week or so and then they'll start moving into more detailed work design um kind of they know what your space where the space is now they start actually designing more what is that space and what goes into that so that's what's going on with the bag again Kate is a member of that so if you have questions um you can direct them to the New York I don't know if you have any thoughts kind of just on how that's going I think

009it's going really well the the team and the community and the The Architects and and the environmental people that are looking at the landscape you know they're just very open and receptive and and it's been it's been a real fun fun experience being that I've seen and um and yes they're addressing the library the first adequate space because it's a school that is um you know and we need uh books in English we need bilingual books and we need books in Spanish and so you need to really accommodate that collection and um and I I think that that was one of the oversights and um Joseph Gail that we didn't really realize all of the needs because there's also chapter book sets that needed to be put in Social Security so um and you know

010one of the questions I have is um when you build a new building do you get to buy new books is there an allocation of money for for the library you know for new books for the local library so we can talk more about that um what I do know is though the current Library will go there right and then there is a place for us to spend a little more time talking about where that budget's stand up I hope you have an exact answer but we haven't created the budget for the specific things but typically when we do build a new building there's new furniture new equipment some things will roll into the um depending on how old they are or what to happen so there might be a blend um but we have

011not talked specifically about individual equipment or individual room on what website well I was going to suggest that um Linda Taylor who's a retired bilingual is doing a great job but he's only 19 and he had to have that address and understanding of like Linda Taylor has and I know she would be happiness um [Music] and also possibly can be used as content for the children during Thanksgiving or things like that to be able to plan another history of it Incorporated in curriculum so just just thought that that's a good idea yeah last comment I want to make was kind of one I know you've all been receiving emails from a concerned dealing parents about the K1 Bland uh just wanted to talk a little bit about that just to make sure we have the

012right information out there um currently there's 33 students in the kindergarten the next year will be we're forecasting 33 students in the first grade at 33 students in kindergarten um we've got the right allocation of FTE with this current budget across the district and try and put we I mean our average is 23.5 and um for the last three years when class sizes have been vastly underneath that average we haven't gone back in and changed them because of that it's in our we've had extra money we've got Sia Money we've had ways for us to just leave that but that's ending that's your money is going away um Sia we still have it but it's actually allocated um quite you know coal is went up so we have that allocated more of our Sia away

013from class size reduction so um we are still looking at this um this budget that was approved I'm not approved but it was um allocated last time here it's not it's a 9.9 State School fund um we're we've got several places in this budget that I have some concerns about Billy's not the only place where we've had to make a couple of tough decisions like this um so I I think one of the first things that we need to start looking at is um we've opened up some inter-district transfers and try and enter District trying to pull snorting students in the Dilly we'd rather have the quotient of 40 to 42 in those grade levels for us to be able to justify the two staff members um we're also out there lobbying because the real

014problem here is the 9.9 billion dollar insufficient budget that's that's a deficit of 6.3 million dollars in our budget caused by that state school front so again we're out right now working trying to improve that um thank God just in this last May forecast they've got an extra 400 million dollars or it might be 300 um 300 million dollars in um the um corporate kicker that's the new forecast that's on top of what they have that money right there takes them from 9.9 billion to 10.3 million which is or 10.2 billion which is closer to what we need so um for us we're going to continue working on getting those slots up we'll continue to lobby and get kind of a fair State School fund and then I just wanted you to know there's actually

015a couple more spots in the district where there's some challenges um and we haven't gotten to August September where we where we'll start to find where the bubbles are but it's just um we were watching them we've got our eyes it just seems a little early right now to be really in the principles get their allocations based on that budget then yeah okay so I guess making sure that the staff know it's way early in the game start having those kind of discussions maybe the forecast yeah some ideas but I think they're going to change they will our challenge is we still have to sap based on the budget that we know and the other problems that I'm hearing this is that this session's coming to an end um there's no we don't have any

016evidence that the Senate Republicans are going to come back and so the chances that we're going to get this done by June 15th I think a rapidly decreasing daily um which means it's either it will most likely go to a special session what we're hearing is that they would only it wouldn't it wouldn't be they wouldn't do the special session with like two or three specific things in mind but even then we've still probably not are going to know until July 30th and we have to start placing people we have to start grooming them based on the budget that we have so that's just kind of where we're at with Billy I know there's some real challenges there but and that's all I'm like well it's like lesser questions um you know it wouldn't be

017my first choice um I mean Consulting really the you know break into so um you know is there any other way to do a blend it instead it came on um we can like we can talk a little bit more about that except for their class sizes in the other areas or not um they're more basically it's K1 next year that we're exciting to have in the lower class sizes the other grade levels fit into the two sections find but we're still a ways away like Brad's saying we still have some problem solving to do there may be some staffing that we have to take care of but we there's a lot that's going to happen here and the bubbles that we know I mean kindergarten's always a crap shoot if I am forecast but

018um but I wanted you to have know what's going on out there like I said Billy is not my only there's two other places particularly that I can already see we could have some issues with one is it Echo Shaw and one is it a Jill Gale that we're watching so my second concern is um letting teachers go I mean there's a shortage of teachers yeah there's no we're there are some moves that are happening right now but um we do have to place people and we have to place them based on the budget that we have right now I mean I guess you know once they're out the door the other schools will snatch them off and you know we we're not gonna let anybody go okay thank you okay thank you um unscheduled

019public appearance um the board appreciates community members sharing information during public comments public comments will be made in person or submitted through the designated form on the webpage to be read by District staff or registered Zoom participants who indicated through the form they wanted to provide their comment live public comments will be limited to three minutes and is the protocol as is a protocol for board meetings public criticism or complaints about school district Personnel are not allowed at this time are there any public comments no okay all right thank you uh the consent agenda is made up of routine non-controversial items to be voted on under one motion are there any items within the consent items a board member or the superintendent wishes to discuss separately and I can't if you have some you can

020just yell out but otherwise I don't see it so um okay I'll move that we approve the consent agenda second okay uh yes for me Kate yes okay Brad yes and Norse yes okay thank you we move on to presentations the Strategic plan draft from Mr Parker tonight [Music] um emailed you kind of a draft of the Strategic plan and also kind of a group match that you begin to provide some feedback to us you can always just that doesn't life but I wanted to just give you a little bit of like how we got into this draft so you have a little bit of knowledge and then you have as much time as you needed to um to do the rest I wanted to start with the fact that um this started five years

021ago we went out in the first year and did 30 plus Community meetings kind of identifying uh and again what our community wanted to see in our graduates we came from all of that data we kind of got our district values to care that we stand strong and have to grow kind of our purpose and promise started to come from that right after that period of time we had the pandemic and then we kind of got distracted although the the values the maxims worked really well for us as we were trying to make decisions last year we started to pick this work up again and we wanted to go back out and do two things one is kind of identify the attributes that that we want to make sure our graduates lead with and then

022two we wanted to just double check and make sure the data that we received from the community hadn't changed during the pandemic and so we went back out last spring we went through we did a thought exchange we did some other pieces and we identified kind of these six attributes the comforting thing about it is these are actually the same six attributes that we would have chosen from our original data so I don't think what the expectations were really changed much over that period of time and so in the strategic planning kind of timeline here the prepare and envision that was actually the work that we've done the last five years it was kind of developing those District values the maximums purpose and promise kind of getting the portrait of a graduate and so in

023January we sat a team of which Martin Brad were were attending and a part of it and we took again along with our integrated guidance we had a lot of data that we were bringing together to share that so that team in January the design team sat down with the data we kind of went through a process and then we would began to narrow down kind of what what do we need to get focused around we are then designing this strategic plan that's where what you're actually going to look at and provide some feedback on the next steps will be to basically approve this and then we'll start until the launch and starting to measure its success so just so you can kind of see where we're at in the timeline thank you um I'll

024share this presentation with you but it has all of those 51 folks on the design team the design team kind of what they did is developed with the big goals were with them what they were looking for and then we had a writing sets of writing teams that came together to start try and put some details on this this is mostly administrators it's also informed by our closest who also got to work in these areas and then currently we've got all of this app in front of our staff when we're getting feedback on all of that too yeah the very first meeting we started looking at and start talking about a SWAT our strengths our weaknesses opportunities and then the threats and so each of we divided our group up into five or support that

025there's like six sets of tables to win through um started to identify these um the basic strengths that they found Elementary School social and learning environment teacher student relationships uh work of school counselors attempts at communication from teachers to school and then to support students again from school staff those were strengths that we saw some of the um opportunities where secondary Social and learning climate there was a lot of talk about safety it became that it was a huge issue as we were talking to kids parents everyone um teachers student relationships how are we fostering that sense of belonging how are kids connected to schools family engagement was probably the most our lowest area as you go through the data and I'll explain that coming up because it in some places it was also a

026spring um staff teachers support culture and climate attendance was again a big issue the family engagement was interesting because what they said is in some aspects they said yeah you're communicating a lot and so some folks are saying hey you guys communicate great and then we had a probably a larger section of the group said you're not con communicating in a way that we that connects with us that we like or that we're using and so this was a big conversation for us okay this screen you can't read it but all I wanted to show is is that there's like a whole bunch of ideas that our design team came up with each line here and when you look at the uh the um the presentation label you'll see just how many ideas and then

027we as a group then began to try and group those ideas into areas and then what we did is we went through each of these areas and on the right hand side there there's like a little thermometer and so they thought we had everybody in the groups begin to prioritize which of these areas were more important than others and the design team ended up with kind of these um six areas Equity inclusion um Financial stewardship was really this idea that in our strategic plan we've got to have something we're including our organization like how we would run our schools family and student engagement was an obvious area for us social emotional learning I I think we changed some of these names coming up here Behavioral Health and Wellness um academic learning and engagement again we

028have to have a portion of this that spoken instruction and it's safe became a a very important piece what you'll see in the document that you're gonna that you'll read later on your own time there's kind of four main areas at the end of that way um that could be an inclusion we did not make its own area because of what we saw was we needed equity and inclusion in our academic learning disruption and um learning piece we needed equity in our hiring practices we need an equity in the uh so we didn't make it its own area but when you go through and read these strategies and objectives you should see Equity representative all of those areas the other one that we've collapsed was saved me because we felt it was part of making

029our organization better so we moved safely up into this kind of resilient organization so we we ended up with four big earrings instruction and learning Behavioral Health and Wellness um family and student engagement and then the last one is this resilient organization which kind of has um business practices it has the HR practices and then it has kind of our safety now one of the questions that's come up um as this has gone now started being looked at in the organization is the uh this issue of wealth hey well I can tell you like in instruction and learning one of the strategies uh is really around literacy and about and um I think I mean the way I'll explain this is we've got to make growth in literacy and math that's got to be a

030high quality of course and there's a lot of things that we're going to do in this District argument in this plan because of there's still an important to us science social studies these um play areas the electives all of those are important and we have lots of work going on there but these this in this strategic plan are some of the highs so as you read it you may have questions about well why isn't there more information about science it's because of right now pretty much I feel a lack of responsibility to make some growth in order to see a map which is what we'll read there um and so I think the basic structure of the Strategic plan is there's a goal there's one to three objectives and then there's some number of strategies

031for every single one of those subjectives the action plan like if this has to be workable for us for five years and so as you start to get closer to the strategies it's going to see the details and then we'll honestly break out these strategies into action plans um like the actual things that will end up doing is prevention here and then when you're after that to spray what the questions [Music] yeah is that action plan going to have my traditional boxes um obviously it will but I've seen a lot of these throughout my career um here at the school district and everywhere else I've been and this is great but it if it doesn't say who who's responsible for the development and the conduct identify who the cost and the measurements um for you

032know is it Mr John is it who is it you know who's responsible at the end of the danger so I'm curious about what that structure will look like that is the action exactly like as you begin to break these out what I can tell you is like in the instructions um under instructions is kind of the first part is to one of the issues that we're having in managing is that we we don't have a defined vision of what great construction looks like in the classroom we have everybody I mean we're all Educators so we all have lots of ideas about what great instruction looks like we have to come to an agreement on that we're going to need to do that work first thing but the second kind of objective around the integrating

033those attributes into our curriculum we're not going to start that working until we actually start working on this first piece you might start getting organized but there's this thing has to last for five years so there's a these things some of these things won't be accomplished in totality um for years um the actual pieces defining roles um who's that's as we begin to look at these strategies that is the work that is exactly what will happen the other thing that isn't here yet or the success measures which is how are we going to determine when we're getting it we're working on those right now we should have them in the final document but that's also for the board to be able to hold us accountable um to these pieces is with those successful issues and

034so those are being developed too but the role that who's responsible absolutely it's it's a count I'll call on you no absolutely not and um the other series is like um the uh my platform the um the rules though who's doing what is going to be bonding like we know what we're doing that's the important part otherwise it sits on the Shelf um my plan would be there's a couple of things that I know I need to put in my goals next year that are specific what really this is my um yeah this is and that task list that we work up that's kind of like the word and that's how we show whether or not organic progress is this is comes forward other questions and we have about a week and a half two

035weeks for you to put your we sent you a group map on Friday to begin the entering your stuff but that's too limited you can be welcome just to email me um but I have um I think the 31st is when we really need to kind of if there's a major uh we've just been through a lot of eyes like every word has a purpose a hundred document so again there's um and the design team had a whole bunch of input so making big changes isn't gonna is it really possible but if there is something we want to know about it now so we could but we need to instill uh thank you I appreciate the embedding of the other education and everything I think that's pretty awesome and it should I mean exist it's

036pretty much throughout this document there's a real conversation great historical patterns and um so hopefully you'll as you read it you'll see okay thank you um move on to the action items we have a number of them this evening the first is the Forest Grove Community School contract uh 2023 to 2029 second reading is that right exactly okay and John O'Neill John okay again attached as proposed five-year contract with Community School minor changes again we're highlighting red is presented to last week in May 8th so you leave you alone and formal formal site visit because of evaluation it's the recommendation of District administration to proved the Forest Grove schools have a community school contract for the 22 23-28 school year as presented and we just wanted to give one follow-up um we were asked about

037you know what kind of equity trainings and sessions um have they participated in so I studied communication to Vanessa and she replied last year they had three sessions with the Oregon Center for educational equity in addition to staff book group meetings on diversity equity and inclusion topics this year they have continued the staff work by having PD on gender and gender identity and cultural competency and as you know reading the contract that was an additional state law they're working in so again it's first of all are there any questions okay thank you so I'll make a motion Mark okay I'll move to approved Forest Grove Community School contract as presented I'll second okay any uh any comments no okay uh I'll vote Yes for that Kate yes in in nursing no okay the motion passes

038uh uh thank you very much Northwest Regional Education Service District zone 2 election um Mr Parker it was uh last time around there was one um applicant and um we're back here at 17 actually this week okay I'll make the motion uh I moved to elect Doug Doherty to fulfill the full term vacancy of Northwest Regional Education Service District zone 2 to begin July 1 2023. second all right comments no um I'm yes for me Brad yes and uh Kate and Darcy yes okay thank you that motion passes um the third item is the is letters and Elena Santana District Title One and literacy coordinator don't speak to this yeah I really think um we're requesting an increase in spending I talked to you guys in April and we approved 36 000 to be sent

039toward letters for teachers letter Fair One Professional learning education course we have had it really unexpected but a museum turn out of interest from teachers being kept it at 15 because we really thought like a free survey that was about as many or we're going to be interested we have 31 teachers from our Pre-K sex schools that are interested in doing your women letters so I requested an increase of 21 000 to a total of 57 000 for your one the overage will come out of Title IX carryover that's an improved uh previously that's great yeah wonderful okay I um I know that we approve uh the additional 21 000 for letters professional installment of course an instruction materials specific staff 2023-24 and 20 24 25 school year will be coming down to exceed 57

040000. all right moved and seconded uh no comments don't see yes for me um narsie yes and Kate yes and Brad yes okay that passes thank you uh Neil Armstrong Middle School track replacement um Eileen good evening um and it includes the removal of the current track repairing the rain uh full d-zone uh the drainage the civil engineering and the resurfacing at the track so the full scope is a million 116 954 with been in sports I'll make the motion for you okay so I want to approve the opinion sport purchase for the new Neil Armstrong Middle School track for one million one hundred and sixty nine fifty four okay second and okay um uh yes uh for me uh Kate yes and uh narsie yeah and Brad yeah okay thank you Tom McCall Upper

041Elementary School track replacement um this one's the tunnel Culpeper Elementary School track replacement and this is not a full replacement like Danielle Armstrong one is repairing the dinkage and the cracks and then resurface of the current pack um and it does include constructing the stormwater drainage around in between the field and the track itself and the field maintenance in the center it's not a field upgrade or Improvement just general field maintenance made it safe um this contract is with the same vendors of Prior one and it's for 573 a second okay so moved and seconded so uh let's see nursing yes uh Brad yes Kate yes and uh yes for me as well thank you one more or maybe yeah one more screen Taylor way parking bus entrance asphalt replacement so this one is for

042the asphalt replacement in Front Street between and failing and so we have two bins the third unpreter declined to bid they have constipating in five star and for this project we'd like to award it to class Paving for 55 480. all right I moved to award the contract TO Haas Paving for the Taylor way bus entrance for 55 480 dollars uh utilizing bond funds second all right well why isn't the city paying for it that our property it is on our property it's from the street to the gate but it is on the inside of our property I'm trying to visualize where it is oh so that's private problems I understand ours yeah as soon as you leave the concrete that street is concrete out front so as soon as you leave that to the

043gate of where the bus is going through um and staff use it to come around that way yeah yeah because I was thinking when you turn in there okay I got it now thanks all right um take the boat uh yes for me Kate yes uh uh Brad yeah great thank you uh let's see language live software uh from John O'Neill assistant superintendent thank you as you know the district purchase language live software program to address student writing and reading needs last year as part of our locally adopted language arts instructional materials adoption last spring for grade 7 through 12. language likes a comprehensive literacy Intervention Program for struggling students in grades 5 through 12 and in the important packet are data points for the amount of students impacted in their learning the district requests

044approval of language live software program for the next three years with a one year cost of thirty thousand nine hundred fifty Seven dollars for the 2324 school year funding coming school year for this coming school year will be paid for by measure 98 plus thank you on Google administrative opportunities the classroom teachers is part of their instructional program so this um language in the same company that we had that language reading program that we had a number of years ago a long time ago yes yeah I had this down in California 30 too long ago yeah 32 years ago yeah I remember all those textbooks but now they're doing a software program and digital and it tracks individual student progress and the teachers get real-time feedback that is pretty easy okay other questions no all

045right yes for me um nursing oh I'm sorry I I moved to approve the language sorry next three years with the one cost of 30 957 for 2023-24 school year using funding for measure 98.5 five seconds well actually now I do have a question though John before we before we take the vote so 39 57 for the first year and then is it years two and three are unknown at this time yes what we're trying to do is um get approval or [Music] um board approval or the purchase of complete but we have to negotiate that year by year okay and we also want to make sure that it continues to have the positive impact that we have had this year with our students so the data is very accomplishing but we want to make

046sure so John why wouldn't we just do it about one year request and you know come back in year two and I mean why wouldn't we do that well do you want to answer this is the one-year request yeah it's just a one year oh I see okay approval for three years should the data pan out that it does support the program but you will need to come back that second year once you've negotiated the cost and it's over a certain dollar over fifty thousand yes we just want to make sure the board [Music] need to do this every time this year it's pretty challenging to keep track of all the software and when it was approved for like curriculum real soon but we approved it for three years we have to come back for

047the one morning so that would equal six-year adoption cycle through the state but those are kind of things that can trip us up accidentally okay so John just to be clear this isn't when we sign whatever we're going to sign we're not absolutely committed for three years with them or are we we are not okay we are that's like maybe that's my question really oh okay yeah got it got it yeah but we also want to take a look at the data to make sure that it's right I'll get an impact oh I'm sorry to make this so complicated okay all right I'm done with questions um anybody else no okay I'll I uh we'll vote Yes for this in nursing yes uh Brad and Kate yeah okay thank you okay next one no red

048ink software John excellent and this was the other software supplemental instructional rules that we um brought to the board last year um we it supplements our local adoption from grade 7 through 12. uh no writing assist with the development of writing skills then measures student progress digitally for Teacher reference and an ongoing manner at Neil Armstrong 73 539 questions were answered at the time I wrote this uh 1836 topics Master by 733 students um through their language arts classrooms and I Forest Grove High School 81 000 questions been answered over 4 000 topics Mastered by 1197 students including 1229 writing symbols for students which is really helpful with our teachers so um the district requests approved for no reading software purchase for the next three years with one year cost of 16 984 dollars for

049both schools from 23 24 school year paid for from measure 98 bucks so I just wondered at some point if we could have a discussion around this three-year thing with the one year I think it warrants a discussion not not maybe tonight in the board meeting but what if you because two words for the next few years what have we just set up to the next few years because it sounds like we're going to bring it back in the cost in this year yeah we're negotiated at different costs and I'm good with that same again you all right with that yeah yeah thank you so I'll make a motion I moved to approve the no red ink software purchase for the next three years with the one year cost of 16 984. the Baltimore scope

050high school and legal Armstrong Middle School with the 2023-24 school year using measure 98 class five seconds all right um wrote on this Nursery yes um Brad yes Kate uh yes for me as well thank you John thank you uh Eileen with the Tom McCall East Upper Elementary School parking lot Paving oh yeah but so we have one more parking spot for repaving this summer it is part of the bond fund it's almost parking lot we did the buses a few years ago with remaining bond funds from the last fund and so now this is doing the department spaces and the rest of that um we had two quotes one from house Paving and one from Five Star Montana He did not provide a quote for us and we are asking the board to approve

051140 2027 for five-star game all right any questions all right oh go ahead oh I'm sorry um I um make a motion that the board award the contract for five star pavement to the common cult in Stafford Elementary School parking lot for 142.27 utilized by second any uh comments or discussion all right um a vote on this yes for me Kate yes uh Brad and Norse okay thank you uh Neil Armstrong Middle School kitchen remodel Eileen this one we are really excited about is remodeling the kitchen at Neil Armstrong with uh the pandemic and having free meals and federal assistance for our meal services we were able to accumulate the fund balance in that account and we have a limit to where we can only have three months worth of expenditures as a fund balance

052and one of the things that we're looking at is we went and looked at what is included in the bond prevention and what's not included in the bunker kitchen and one of our challenges is Neil Armstrong the the way the flow of services where you go through the door then you come out the door this project that we're doing is going to take out that wall in between and have more of an open Flow similar to what the high school is so you can see in it'll be a lot easier to access more visibility and better supervision for the area so that's one of the big projects that we're working on with the excess food service funds that we have and the project itself is going to include kitchen equipment and a lot of different

053components this one that we have for you tonight is the extraction piece of it it's written call construction and their estimate is it's about 55 000 for their portion um and that's what we're looking at we had two other vendors the kind of in just because on the full strengths of the time we need to get the project going and hopefully done by June 30th Again by the end of the fiscal year so we do have some time constraints with this one but the request tonight is about construction award that contract that caught construction for up to 55 000. last week we didn't have the quote yet we've been trying to get moving on it and um so I put more information on the overall project than the cover um but including the kitchen equipment

054and all the components that'll be that's our budget okay thank you so I moved into a proposed contract with that construction for Neil Armstrong kitchen renovation for up to 55 000. second okay all right uh a vote on this nurse say yes uh Brad yes Kate yes and I'm a yes as well thank you um Forest Grove High School lab computers Enrique Pena the action item before you tonight is to improve the purchase of replacement desktop computers uh into the labs at Forest Grove High School uh these are allowed to support the digital is a lot of the digital design uh also video production and also computer programming uh the current computers they have do not are not sufficient to support their critical essentially the things they're doing today with the digital design or video

055production uh so they've been piloting uh some computers and the teachers that settle on a computer so uh what we are asking today is for the approval of replacement lab computers uh from cdwg that will be purchased using measure 908 investor funds it's split between the two uh for a total cost of 134 997.84 uh we are holding the stipulation here that we'd like to recommend uh regular request your approval to go with cwg for an alternate vendor should we find one that has a lower price or potentially uh another product we are finding there's a supply chain problem still especially throughout this part and what we found is that the big one and the teacher settled on uh it's possible that another vendor may have them and either you may not be able to

056provide them so we want the flexibility to go no not about that price but find the benefit actually has stocks the price of 134 997 vehicles and together Mark I think it's in Georgia okay I moved I no I have it's hard for me to hear I didn't hear the exact dollar figure so is it what was it I can you want me to do it yeah yeah because I can't I it's a it's a little muffled I heard the exact dollar figure [Music] High School lab computers using measure 98 and has supplies from c e w g or an alternative vendor that is able to ride the computers at the equal or lower cost share the supplied should should Supply availability problem occurred for 134 [Music] 997 and 84 oh okay yeah I would

057have got that wrong okay um is it seconded then okay and uh vote on this yes for me Kate yes and Brad in nursing yeah okay thank you um instructional assistant computer purchase uh from Enrique again uh the next action item for you is the approval of uh computers for our instructional assistance kind of here I'm starting to put the ones that needed computers that didn't use being folder equipped with a end of life no longer and support it we did apply for federal funding from the SCP through the emergency connection refund um we have been preliminarily improved for the funding that's a reimbursement program so they would reimburse the distance to provide them we're just waiting at that final approval letter so we would like to recommended the board approve the purchase of instructional

058systems Chromebooks from fhi attending final approval uh request for a total amount of 120 000. how many Chromebooks would that equal uh 300. so I will make a motion to recommend um the purchase of the instructional assistant Chromebooks from Shi attending final approval of the ECF funding request s um SEC moved in second and okay um all right the vote on this narsie yeah and uh Kate Brad yes and I'm a yes as well that motion passes okay I think that's it for the action items um future board items and board discussion are there any items board members would like to add to the current list are there any committees or other activities board members have attended that they would like to report on um Mark I would like us to discuss maybe moving our

059board meetings to the first and the third Mondays instead of the second and the fourth so that some of the members of the board can attend the City Council meetings which are now the second and the fourth okay uh so we'll put that as a future discussion or yeah okay can we add that for board discussion yeah we were kind of working at the calendars Mark and then we should be able to do it at the 12th uh June 12th okay future action item around them okay all right anything else yeah I think the the other thing I would say is I think this is Miley's last division oh okay one word now this is so this isn't your last one yeah one more okay all right okay okay okay all right um okay with

060that I think uh we will adjourn the meeting uh this evening at uh 6 33 p.m thank you everyone
