That's perfect. >> We'll return to regular session 603. >> Uh minutes. I wasn't there. So under the minutes, >> uh I will motion to approve as presented. We'll second. >> Those in favor? >> I Okay, just seems so quiet. Um some additions to our consent agenda. Um E um one, Claire Baker should be high school girls basketball. And then another um addition later down in under delegations and presentations E which would be recognize Christopher Rivas October student of the month. Anything else? >> I'm aware. >> Bills got a couple questions on bills. Isn't here maybe telling you? No. Or the building. >> Do my best. >> Or Billy. See, it was page 10. um environmental inspection services um asbestous samples. Is that for the future um project or something we just have to do >>
that Ahira >> that was not the Ahira that was >> one is the second one's for a so that that's an I think he has to come in every six months no matter what year >> so we $5,000 every >> No I think that's I think that's a bigger um bigger than just that >> y >> I just wanted the PLM asbesus report was to to do a sampling on this end of the building like pre-construction. So they created our pre >> construction report which I just he just gave me today. I sent off to them. >> Uh and that is um paid for with the it's called the tab grant view. So that's actually the grant that we get to to manage that stuff that did not come from general >> and is the
hero one right below or is that the same for the same thing? I think here is the regular six month or annual. Oh yeah, >> we must have had some on page six iron head roofing come out. >> They they repaired the rope over the office end of the building. Some shingles had blown off and there's more than we felt was safe to get to. So they came and fixed it. >> Yep. Seems like a real reasonable price to get up on that roof. >> It needed [clears throat] to be done. >> Definitely. >> Um I had a couple more. Page 12. So just the next page. Um just the wrestling stuff. Um I know we don't have a whole lot of kids so it must just be a blanket for the school price >>
like the the the Dawson 250. >> Y exactly. >> Doesn't matter. You take one or you take five or >> they'll charge by wrestler three times two. But anymore it's 20 25 bucks. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I know that we would sometimes if they only had three or four get the discount. >> Yeah. >> Pretty difficult unfortunately. >> Okay. I guess that's the only things I had pointed out. Anything else? >> You covered power analysis. Everyone think that looks It's even just a little more than previous years, but I'm not on the pills pillow. So, no, we're good. Just the cost analysis, which doesn't help it. It is what it is. I'm controlling. I'm glad to see though that the new all the work it looks like it's lowering the usage. Um approval to hire
Tim Strand, boys basketball assistant coach. He's got kids in the district. Um Ashley Hal, girls basketball assistant coach. Our next thing is a um accept a letter of resignation from Jasmine Nighton. Sorry to see anyone go. Uh approval of volunteer coaches, uh Claire Baker, high school girls basketball. Joseph Ballard, high school wrestling. Cody Sherman, high school wrestling. And Tanner Gibson, high school wrestle. Motion to approve. >> Second. >> Those in favor? >> I uh communications smile club. Thank you. Everyone want to read good. It's very pretty short. >> Dear Skip and Margie, apologies for the response. Returning to school, I've received numerous comments from staff and students about the success of being a science night. Thank you for being dependable and indispensable part of our science science community. It is always well well anticipated the
intended. I was sorry not to be there but it seems like it went well with many engaging and creative activities. Thanks to you both and all the amazing enthusiastic college students who volunteered to come down and help with our students. I will be looking forward to next year's event. >> Do we know is uh Skip and Margie? It looks like OSU from their emails. So, >> probably in the science partner. >> Uh, dear PTG, a big thank you and appreciation for your support of the Smile Club Science Night at MGS. Having pizza for everyone makes the evening a true family event and the OSU student volunteers also enjoy it, too. Thanks for all your help and support, uh, Miss Martinson and Miss Ferraria. >> Excellent. Thank you. delegations or presentations. Um, meet the teacher. We
have a teacher here to present. >> Yeah, sure. >> Okay. Uh, I'm Olivia. Where are you? Uh, this is my first year as a science teacher, middle school science. Uh, I don't have anything to present, but uh, let's see. Today we dissected flowers and we made ice cream. Um, and we've done lots of different experiments. I try to make it as fun as possible while also chops. Um, gotten lots of good feedback. Yeah, I try to make it a lot of fun. Try to make it very engaging and doing a lot of lot of fun stuff down in the middle school science lab. Excellent. How many years with the district? >> This is four. >> Excellent. Thank you. >> How do the kids seem to be doing? >> Good. I mean, this is my first
time with middle school, so I don't know how it compares to previous years necessarily with the middle school, but they seem to be pretty good. I mean, was Monday today, so that's fair to Monday. But generally speaking, they're they're they're great. They're great kids. West's enjoying science. It's nice to be in the lab. >> Yeah. No, I just Yeah, they said they're they're telling me a lot that it's nice to use the lab and use the resources. So, try with us. >> Thank you for contact for resources today. I didn't >> Excellent. >> Olivia, if you don't want to stay for the whole meeting, you're welcome to leave. So, thank you very much for attending. Uh, construction update building inspection committee. Just a couple of things. Um, they haven't done the work yet, I don't
think. Uh, but we're going to replace the rooftop unit, the rooftop HVAC unit for Valerie's room >> with the split unit. I talked about that. Y >> getting a new unit on top of the roof and getting the old unit off the roof was going to be very cost prohibitive. And so we're just the knee split in there, you know, bigger, but the work has not been done as far as I know. They snuck in on me. Uh, and then trying to get a a day when we can meet the pivot CCS, get started on the get a kickoff meeting, get started on the seismic stuffs. Started talking about it today, but couldn't find a time and a place yet. let you know. >> Um, do you feel like we should probably elect a couple
people on the board or one person or >> It's always nice to have one or two extra people there that >> have appeal for it, willing to to meet with them. >> Um, so yeah, people like it certainly will. >> Yep. >> Any um public um remember what they were called? We had one seems like Alan Rutherford was on the first goound. Is that any requirements or >> There's no requirement around it. It's pretty much if we wanted to and we contracted that ourselves. I think um having Pivot ZCS on board which is the same people that we've worked with for five years doing the other work know them very well and feel confident that they're with us. >> Well, we can ask also when Nicole and Chris are here if either one of them
would like to be on >> yourselves. We typically would do a try to do a weekly meeting if if it's needed, but they're not long. Just have room for Excellent. Uh enrollment and attendance down a little bit, but could be that winner tip we get often. uh administrative update. Uh I guess we'll start generally I start with uh grade school down there. So Oh, sorry Richard. Go ahead. >> Sometime uh just a recap from November. We got that up to that you to watch basketball games. Sounds like kids room. I don't know about people who supervise. Um it was very loud and very hot from what I hear. But other than that, it went really well. Uh had the student staff volleyball game the other day. That was a lot of fun. Uh successful food
drive around Thanksgiving. 15 provided uh complete Thanksgiving meals. Uh upcoming got the winter concert on the 18th at 6. The giving tree is up. Uh nearly 100 tags are on the tree this year. So anybody wants to stop by and grab a tag or two, that'd be great. Um athletics, girls basketball finishes up next week. They're they got two games this week, three home games next week, and then boys basketball officially starts in January. Um, far as the K5, so I shared I've been talking to you quite a bit about it. So, I went ahead and shared that document the K5 team put together. Uh, that's for English language arts. That's kind of their vertical alignment. Um, big four work on a document. Uh, it's easy to understand, something that's simple you can share with
students and and parents. they can read and they say, "Oh, all right. That makes sense. This is your goal for the year." You can see what they're going to our goal for the following years will be. Um 68 is also working on something similar. I did have a math example for you um to take a look at for middle school. The middle school team still kind of working through the process as well, but I think they're getting close to being finished. It's a little more difficult middle school though. Um yeah, I think that's pretty much it. answers questions. I care have any questions. >> Excellent. Thank you, Richard. You bet. Oh, yeah. Uh, we also have a gaming tree up or is it the real tree? >> Yeah, not not as many, but I think
the tags are going pretty fast. Seems like we're we're jumping into the Christmas spirit early this year. Um just kind of some kind of scattered, but uh we just purchased uh I think maybe it's in the bills, maybe not, but about $5,500 of building materials for our construction trades class. They just got all supplies. They're finishing up their to scale models. There's three different size of sheds and then they're going to be working through building the full fulls size pieces. And I think it's kind of cool to see him getting into it and they kind of have like little mini teams and I think he's Jim's trying to use it as kind of like the employment skills, you know, are you here on time? Are you off your phone? Are you, you know, like treating
it and then kind of give them a job employee evaluation at certain marks. So kind of a kind of fun way to tweak it. Um, but >> how many class or how many kids are in that? >> Uh, I want to say it's about eight 10. Eight seems right, but it's yes, it's it's smallish, but >> um so yeah, it's kind of exciting. We've never done it before, so um we don't really have contract with team Morgan build. So it's kind of like we build them now, what do we do? Y >> um so we're looking into things like can you sell them for the materials cost to recoup that and then just roll it back in. We're not looking to make money, but we're looking to maybe find a niche or >> things of
this the community that might might benefit other people as well, too. Um, couple things we're working on. I just did a an attendance review with the freshman just to look and say like, hey, how many days have you missed this year? Um, if you, you know, continue this, if you're one-third in, if you continue that trek, what's it going to look like? Trying to get kids to realize that attendance is important. 10 or less is kind of a good connection for success. And then kind of rolling into looking at their grades too. You know, freshmen haven't don't have any high school grades yet. And so we're kind of in the semester push in certain ways. Um and then uh we go along that line. We work with Ross Fabis. He's a he works at the
ESD, does a lot of work for schools all across the the ESD itself, but kind of has a little group. and um he's been kind of instrumental in certain things for us, but our freshman on track has been really good the last 8 10 12 years. So, we kind of keep that mark. What we're looking at mostly is kind of trying to figure out how help our sophomores and so it's kind of an interesting challenge I think teachers are digging into and looking at some of data like that. So, other than that, that's about the >> the post hunting trip. [laughter] report. >> Excellent. Thank you very much. Bill, anything you like to add? Trying to think of something. Know that I have anything special. Okay. Um uh next order of business is um I
don't see he's not here, but uh recognize uh Christopher Rivas uh for our October student of the month. Um I think we'll reach out to him. Um it' be really excellent if these kids want to come. We have a um gift certificate for pizza for them and then a um certificate. So wonderful. >> Uh I don't see any old business. Um >> um speaking of that, can we just get like a thank you card uh ready for the next meeting for all of us to sign for Benny's? Yes, >> because there's they're splitting with you. So, I buy one and then one. So, >> great. We'll do that. >> Recogniz there. >> No, no, makes sense to me. Um, new business review position, uh, description for school nurse. So, we really just took the old
one, honed it out based on what we would use the school nurse for. talked about a little bit but not real not a huge not a huge thing just rewritten essentially so we can get that out filled when I looked through this the only thing that it's obviously a thing to bring up but the bullets seem to be not all the same you know like so essential functions we've got your numeric I followed by the numbers formatting. >> Yeah. And then we jump into a down toward the bottom with numbers. So maybe just >> selected all of G to one. >> I thought the rest of it looked fine. >> I was curious about the nurse evaluation. We need to have some like somewhere that we're contract help us >> figure that one out. >>
Okay. >> Because we technically can't, >> you know. Yeah. It has to be >> looking looking at about maximum 30 hours for this >> for the whole year. >> A year. >> Yeah. >> So hopefully evaluation, >> right? >> And we're just going to do it with a stipent. So, >> and apologize, maybe I missed it in the minutes. So, was did this get brought up last did the health center, they're not qualified to be our nurse >> um on staff or >> we've talked to them about a little bit. I I feel like we've approached them in the past and they've said that's not really something that we can both do. So, really what we need this for, we have we have a student that has medical needs that we have to do some
training on. So really, we're just asking somebody to come in and check with our people, make sure they're trained, maybe attend an IEP meeting, you know, show back up if anything, you know, go through all of it. So, we're really starting it. It's uh okay, we just need somebody to take that on. Okay. Do we need to approve the new verbiage policies? >> Need another review or just the first? >> We can we can do it for >> the change motion to approve the um your your school nurse description job uh with specified corrections. I'll second. >> Those in favor? >> I next um order business is our superintendent evaluation. Um we asked staff members to complete a valuation form. Um it was a targeted survey of the staff and then as a board we
reviewed it as well and um our findings of that is that we would uh like to rehire our superintendent. So he'll have us or stay with us. Um let's see review and accept integrated programs SIE SIA agreement. So yeah, just real quick review. This is the student success act. It's the it's the state grant program. It's funded by the CAT tax. Um it's the one that we use predominantly. Uh both of the su success coach counselor positions are in there. We have a sped position that's in there. Our family support leazison is in there both of them. Um so that's the lion share of that. of that grant. So the the three three important pages, page two, uh if you have the totals, the amount, uh so it's about $450,000 a year, give or take
a little bit on either side. So they do it in a bienium. So the number looks really big, but we're going to get half of that this year and half of that in 20. >> Uh they are talking about cuts at the state level. So far, they've said that they're going to try to hold the grants harmless, but we'll see how that goes. Uh to skip ahead to page 17, um that's the allowable uses. And so you can see where uh we're allowed to spend money. Uh we really have focused on that. Number two, addressing student health safety needs with the counselors. um we have not tried to um increase instructional time or or reduce class sizes per se. Uh and then obviously that kind of that last list also falls in there. We don't
uh we don't do a lot of CTE stuff with this grant. We use the high school success um >> this money for the like that jump start through the summer. >> No, that's a different at a different grant. Yeah, API grant. So, it's I haven't had a lot of those little buckets anymore. Um, yeah. So, and then jump to 23. Uh, and this is the new component that they're adding to the uh SIA grant is now they're putting long longitudinal performance growth targets. Uh, so they have the five areas that we've talked about. Uh, you four year gra four-year graduation rate. uh your five-year completer rate, which uh we don't usually have a ton of those kids, but it's kids that didn't graduate on time, but did come back to finish their diploma in the
fifth year. Um nth grade on track that Mr. Cisneros mentioned, third grade ELA proficiency. So, one interesting thing about that is that that is not just reading, right? So, that has other components to it. Um and then regular attenders. So what you have is the 25 26 numbers. They've used the last I think four years postcoid they've used those numbers to kind of established baselines uh and then created uh growth targets for 26 27 27 28 >> Why are those proficiencies why is the base so low? >> Because our numbers are low >> as a state. So >> the entire state is low. >> So we've lowered the benchmark because we're low. What do you mean? >> I mean 42%. >> But it didn't go down. >> No, I'm just saying like you look at
all these other target percentages and then >> that's because that's where the baseline was at. So everything that was built was based on the four years of data that they had gathered. So and that's a number that's low across the board. Um part of the problem with that number is that that is a test that they don't have to take. That's the That's the Sback, the one that they could opt out of. >> Um there's there's a lot of different a lot of feelings around the back smart stuff. So, but one that we like to see better for sure. Uh and then the last one, oh, that was that was the last one that I wanted to mention in terms of important pieces. The rest of it is insurance language. pretty general contract would be.
Uh there is talk of adding eighth grade math uh as one of the measures and then you there's another one you guys bring about pulling it out there there is talk of added some other metrics as well. It'll be interesting. I have a motion to accept the integrated programs SIA agreement. >> We'll second. >> Those in favor? >> I >> The other one was K12 attendance. Specifically K12 attendance. >> At that age, measure. >> Um, next, uh, order is schedule special board meeting January, February for review, license, and administrative staffing. >> Seems like it I don't remember doing >> Yeah, >> I'm just going off of the pattern that was left. it was there. But if if that's you feel like that's too early. >> Uh >> we can table it. >> Table tableing it.
>> Okay. Uh I yeah I'm not sure what happened but historically we the board had done a um a January February meeting to review to meet with the building principles and to review where we were from a staffing perspective. >> Uh because they're going to bring you in February a list of teachers. >> Yes. >> Renew. >> So we've we've we've done I mean we have not done it in the last few years. Okay. >> Um, and so it's really up to you. If you'd like to, you can do it. >> Yeah. Well, I know in the past we've talked about a version of that, whatever, wherever or however it may be. Um, so >> yeah, you guys, why don't we just set it and then if something like that has to change, if any
change, sure. >> Yeah. I don't have a sports schedule right in front of me. Um, which seems to be my main, Tuesday, and Friday. Yeah. Yeah. And then we throw wrestling in there. Who knows? >> My life right now until >> it's February's going to be just because you're going to have >> when does it come board meeting? >> Our meeting will be second Monday. So it'll have to be inside like 1 and then second >> which is I think you want to do it after. said it was a short month, too. >> Yep. You I'd be a okay with with say Monday the 26th or >> January. I think you probably do it earlier in your best, >> right? >> Yeah. That should be okay. Chris, there's not a lot. >> I wouldn't think.
>> Um I don't know, but she's the only one. We have >> Why don't we just set it for that? >> Let's go five just to be safe in case. >> Okay. >> In case someone has to, you know, work or that work there. >> Yeah. I was going to say, do you guys have any conflicts? Do you want to look >> timing wise during the day? Is like is there a time that's easier? >> Yeah. Imagine 3:30 would be the best for everyone just so you don't have to go home and come back >> for something. Do you remember? >> You did. >> Yep. >> What? >> No, it's Tuesday. >> I know here. >> I think if she knows enough in advance, she'll put in her time off. But >> potentially have middle
school boys basketball since Monday. Yeah. What time would that beish? >> I don't have schedules yet, but 4:30. >> 4:30. Yeah. >> Is Tuesday better? >> Tuesday is better. >> Getting Tuesday, Mark. >> Oh, it's not looking like a very good basketball season. So, >> yeah, I'm fine with Tuesday. Doesn't matter. May 27th. >> What time are you going to high school? >> High school. Yeah. It depends on your way. 27th January. Put it in there now. Okay. Um, any public comment forms? >> No, sir. >> Nope. >> Okay. With that, uh, we adjourn 6:30.
