and have lunch. The Keegan Smith Memorial Game was on March 5th. Seniors Quinton Kelly and William Bergen organized the event for their senior project. The game raised over $1,200 to put the kids memorial scholarship for a springboard spring sports. The track had the first game on Saturday at High School. South baseball teams would like to partner with my high school. Our players with superintendent information have just started practicing this week. Mrs. Vans may club meets once a month during lunch. The drama club meets every Tuesday

and Thursday in the library after school. This is my report. >> I think it's great that we that you guys raised $1,200. Yeah, >> I actually I got to >> It's still a little damaged, but I believe they're working on it. I'm pretty sure it >> questions. Thank you very much. All right, up next we have our FCS students. My name is >> Hi, I'm short and I'm eighth grader at home. We I've also been going here for my entire school. Well, okay. Hi, my name is Jenny. I love talking about all of the changes that have been happening at SCS the last couple boys and girls basketball and both boys and girls won track is just starting. It's going to be the second track which are going to start after school break. The staff

in the students basketball volleyball games are going to be held tomorrow. The girls that did volleyball will be meeting against staff that sign up and see the boys basketball. I'm gonna be talking about the the new in the phone policy at in the in the phone stage. The students at SCS are doing fairly well with the policy and keeping their phones away. There have been some issues with phones in the phones in school. Kids going to the bathroom, skipping classes over cell phones or just taking them out of class and being on them. It was the second last Yeah. last Thursday. We also of course have fun in schools and learn new things. Definitely an experience that kids get to go to that whatever acquiring 12 kids to the honor to know and see from

schools far away to go to go to our eight kids the gest to attend a high and redouble our score um changes. We asked teachers and faculty that would what they would like to have changed to our school. Just little changes, different classes. We are having a lot of paper and stuff in the girls and boys bathrooms and their sinks. So, we can manate it if we can. Of course, try keeping our bathrooms cleaner. regular bathroom checks. Pick up and drop off makes make pick up and drop off easier and safer for kids. So, a lot of kids are walking in front of the buses and not being super careful and making it harder on their teachers to get them to walk and add swings to the playground. I've heard this from a bunch of

teachers who think saying that they need to be swings need to be added back to the playgrounds. Um, I think that's that's all we have for today. Any questions? >> I love your feedback. >> Keep it coming. >> Seriously, we've actually already brought up the swings multiple times and we too want them back because swings are awesome. Um, I have experienced pickup and drop off at FCS. I agree with you. It is a lot for improvement. Yes, >> and it has been on our radar. So, thanks for bringing it back up. >> Um, the bathroom checks and all passes. I think that's something we definitely look into. So, I appreciate that. I did have a question about the cell phone policy. You brought it up. I appreciate that as well. >> What's your perspective on

that? Like, how are the users like where's the holes in it? I I heard the bathrooms people are using their phones. like >> what could what could what could happen in your school building that could be better to help that cell phone policy run smoother? >> That's a really good question >> and you can think about it and come back to us. you don't know answer right now and maybe go ask your peers even like how could we make this better >> because that feedback is always >> it's okay >> like we said regular bathroom checks would be awesome like we have talked about putting in regular bathrooms a lot of your teachers are just not there >> so even when I personally go to the bathroom and just to use the facilities A lot

of kids are sitting in the corner on their phones or installed on their phones just skipping class. >> But if an adult walked in there occasionally, >> yeah, >> maybe that would not be happening. >> And um like even in our school like they it's been brought up that kids have been skipping two one or two hours of school in the bathroom a day. >> Wow. >> Which is unbelievable. >> Yeah. Mr. >> Brown, you were on honor. >> I went to honor. This is a great experience. >> Me and me and Haley went last year. >> My question is part of this having you here is to come back. So challenge you with not only that question that she asked but also the pick up. So come back with some suggestions some ideas working

to talk to us. What do you think could be? >> Yeah. And I know that there's a lot of teachers like just helping kids um on the other side of the cross wanting leaders, but in front of the school that a lot of kids are walking out there and a lot of kids get do it every day and it's definitely a major sense of safety. >> Thank you guys so much. Derek, director of fourth and fifth grade general music. um coming here just to give a little bit of detail on upcoming festival that we were quickly invited to. Um I didn't know existed until this year, but on paper it sounds like nothing that offers. It is just over the Washington border. Most of our festivals take place in the upper left of Oregon area.

So about the same commute just over a bridge. It's held at the Rose Center for the Arts at Columbia College in Long View. Um there'll be April 17th and the slot that they tend to offer us to perform will be about 1:30 to 2:30. So students will be roughly back at the school at the typical time that we return. Um it's uniquely growth focused with attached to it which almost discourages at middle school level a lot of different perspectives to avoid a lot of confrontation and conflict. It's easier to focus on growth feedback and technique versus having a word. You can see how that double story would often be. Um, this one does have the aspect that if you want to be kind of on that track and potentially come back with more work, that's

something I think really cool. This one has other schools attending to have kind of a point of reference to base off of where our point of reference is high school existed. um not many outside closer to our demographic level funding zone. Um but when you're up in sports that it's a little bit more intimidating. So having schools akin to size a to the same fiscal aspects that sharing has um I think would be a really unique opportunity for student along with the post RE someone that has a massive legacy in jazz school personally jazz times magazine and has multiple albums out it be a breathtaking opportunity for students to brush with not only 10 but six other massive names of the Portland and areas they'd be able to see professional performances in the process. So

I always tell students listen to people that try and be exposed to high quality music and when it's on a silver platter a live concert something. So I hope that you'll be considering this. It's out of state. It's like just a hot jump and it is free in comparison to what we typically festival. So all things considered nice invitation. >> April 17th is a Friday. Are you going to be able to get all of your students to be able to go? >> I feel like they're pretty dedicated. >> They're very questions. >> Just a reminder to the board, we have to vote on anytime that students. So that's why you're asking it's on our agenda to vote on that later. So >> it don't mind a little bit. >> Um, I'm good. >> Okay. Any

public input today? None submitted. All right. We're going to move into administrative um reports and we start with SCS with sorry I'm kind of hit my brief this month because the kids did a great job and covered a lot of stuff um I would be covering any anyways but uh basketball wrapped up. We had 25 kids um on the boys side, most we had postco, which was awesome. Um went really successful season. The girls highlighted the big goal of mine, which is always fun to wrap up. Uh tracks going 54 signed up right now. We got a lot of kids that like sports now, which is awesome. It keeps growing and growing between and the choir and and sports. We're seeing a massive percent of our middle school participating in South Chicago, which is great.

Um uh there in my report, I mentioned a couple of fundraisers that um came to fruition here in the last couple of weeks. First one was McMillan's hosted a fundraiser night for us last week. Um, all you have to do there is partner with them and they give 50% of the proceeds uh to an organization school. We did we do it for our PBIS. This is year two of it. Um, so we ended up raising about $,100 in that. Um, put some flyers out and that's really about all it entailed for our end which was great. And then obviously jazz night which is everyone there which is awesome. Um, that was Derrick and the kids did a great job. That's turning into a very fun event and I think we took some things from the

first year and made some tweaks and it just made it that much better. Probably a lot more cupcakes which were a big hit. We shortened the length of the concert down. Although one band I think would have kept going all night would have left but uh but it ended up being a super fun night as you guys know because you were all there. Um the rapper for the guitar has kind of been a highlight too long now. Um and really cool partnerships with some businesses uptown music businesses as well. Um and then kind of uh they're primarily elementary level but really it's KA book blast is also going on um through the library. The nice thing about that is you basically kids send out um contacts and then contacts can choose if they want to

donate into the program or not, but it comes with free books for every school regardless of their participation as long as they hit a minimum threshold. Um so the our library in Ky helps facilitate that. Uh but the the amount of books coming into our kids' hands off of it is really awesome things that so only thing to improve there is time of year. They all fell in the same twoe window. We got to spread that out one. Um and part of that is just a little calendar. Um and then the other part of it was two of them were basically required. So, I'm going to kind of note it to myself to get these over February, March, April versus fall, March next year, um to try and spread that love out a little bit.

Uh then mentioned the staff highlights. It was classified appreciation week here a couple weeks ago. Um certified knocked it out of the park this year as far as celebrating the classified staff. Did a whole candy theme, did a bunch of decorations, really popups. Um it seemed uh to be ahead of the prospect staff which is awesome because they work themselves off. Um so just want to mention them as a as a whole and awesome work they do. They kind of are part of the school as well and you know they pretty much all too which is which is amazing. Uh individuals I highlighted True Weatherly for the classified end. Um True's a relatively new employee. She's in year two. She's a one in our special education department, but her attitude towards her job, I wish

I could bottle and sell because she is truly there for kids and every day she wants feedback on how she can get better at her job. And with that mindset, she has, you know, for for a relatively young new to the profession type of person, she has done a bang up job with a couple of the kiddos that she works with. And that's not an easy position. you know, if you're sped oneonone, you're working with kids who have a lot of needs, which can be taxing kind of the care she shows for our kids is just fantastic. I thought I really wouldn't mention her this week. Um, also I on the certified I didn't mention Der who is our new science teacher this year, fourth through 8th grade, middle school electives and four five specials.

Um, not only has her class been a really fun and right addition and helped get our master schedule to function a lot better, um, but she also she would before did cooper classes through OSU extension with us. That's kind of where she's been working in the last couple years. That program got eliminated at the federal level. So, she came to work for us in this position. Um she wrote a uh garden grant through ODU which we were just notified at the end of last week that she received. She got so a little over $12,000. She will be building a garden up at FCS. It'll be there on the west end of the building by the kindergarten playground. Um Sean is extremely excited about this as well. We met we met today and hand out where

the fencing's going and everything else. So over the next six weeks, you're going to start to see that space transform a little bit where uh a it'll be open to the community within some structures. We got to in the webinar we're allowed to but the idea will be to raise food that we can have students community members consume. So raising your own fruits. Um, so I just want to mention the awesome work she did. So we kind we've talked about it for years, but she really did the leg work and was going to bring it to fruition. Uh, a couple of key um dates, spring breaks next week, parent teacher calls the 16th and 17th. Um, and then the famous fishing field trip early May that calendar. There's also so there is a lot of

really key big dates coming up. We will be having some spring concerts that we're just settling in on some dates for both the middle school and probably elementary spring. We're just ironing out the dates on comparing them to high school like calendar so we can it's hard to find dates at the end of the year where there's not a thousand things going on but that's kind of the end goal. We have a few days all soon as their final get that to any questions. I'm really excited for Abby on that. I was talking to her about that last week. So that's awesome that we wanted. How was your trip to play in the parent teacher? Not to go back and forth, but >> for the >> Yeah, for the >> as a music teacher, I

don't know why teachers do with us in October this year instead of Thanksgiving week. I saw a lot more whereas years past this year was about 48. So time makes a big difference, but I imagine point to schedule blocks for the first day out or make up time to schedule calls. >> It's not unusual for us if you teach that too. >> It's usually a track problem. So we usually have blocks of this this coach is unavailable here. This person >> but yeah and Thursday we'll have shifted hours will be roughly 11:30 to 7. So we'll have a Friday um with the jazz night um I know you gave me some improvements for that just to add um the can situation I think um when I was leaving I saw that there in the trash

which is like I feel would be additional fundraising collect those separately and I asked like where can I put the oh there's a box somewhere so all kinds of random box more like clearly label would be great >> yeah that's great right next to the trash >> we just forgot that this year we talked about every year right >> I have a question about the garden. Um, I think it's awesome. I love when kids get the chance to grow their own food. I mean, I'm a farmer, so totally up my alley. Um, most of our fruits and veggies around here are harvested in the summertime when school is not in session, which I understand is probably part of the neighborhood kind of part of it. Um, but how's that going to like play into the

school? It like >> Yeah. >> What's that gonna look like? >> Yeah. Great. Uh, it's that introductory conversations, but the webinar from OD with the actual do this, do that hasn't happened yet. What we talked about today is it is run into the grant budget to have a a bit of a labor cost to pay a staff member to water um run things a handful of hours a week. So, that part was is kind of factored in because these are common grants schools around the state. Um but the other thing we talked about is if we get any summer come this year to tie that into that that aspect. Um exactly. Yeah. But honestly other than that there's not a lot other than you know parents who are out anyone in these age groups if

you want to spend some time in your garden here's an opportunity. But unless unless we have some money it's it's a little more false. >> My biggest fear is that it becomes a abandoned high school. >> Yeah. >> So, I would like to see like the sustainability over time, what that's gonna look like and what it looks like on the classroom level. >> Yeah. >> I bet you have some really awesome staff that probably love to garden and could teach some some of those things. I don't know Abby, but I assume Abby >> Yeah, I assume Abby would be your primary teacher, but I wouldn't be shocked if we had other teachers that could. >> We have we're having the opposite problem of everyone wants to do it and fallarted at the moment. But but

yeah, um you're spot on. It's uh it's although Abby, this is kind of her baby. She's done great work. Not falling on the person so it doesn't fall off as So fifth grade is asked to do some units around it. We have a beginning class as an elective that through this we might be able to transform a little bit. Um and then Autumn Autumn's a um very interested in how she can help. So I I right now I got list of about five I think names of people that want to be looped in some. So yeah. Yeah. Next time I'm in front of you that will start to transform but I could also probably get to a more concrete. >> Yeah. I also think we should celebrate it a lot on social media. >> Yeah,

that um John said today I'll do the work someone call a link >> we're getting pictures every stages. So fencing will start probably the week after that and a lot of it Sean is gonna handle some custodial crew itself. So we should be able fencing the whole thing in right now or leaving it open to the public to some degree. >> So right now the the plan is a full fence closed area with the double gate side that we're going to walk in the single gate. One of the things we talked about today is how do we make it community accessible but also there's going to be a tool shed in there not just left because there's no camera. Um, so we talked about rough idea of having like a community hours like, hey, from

this hours to this hours is when it's a good appropriate time, but then often we get outside of that. We kind of have a kindergarten playground where it's usually locked. Sometimes it's not. And then okay, well check that area. So kind of that we're also kind of waiting to see what the grant detail requirements are because there is a community aspect too. So does it have to be public accessible all the time or can you get away with you know at least eight hours a week >> maybe open at the same time. >> Yeah. Yeah. It was one of the things that came up >> perfect. Yeah. Yeah. Hopefully we can get some security cameras on that. So if anything were to go wrong, we would have a little bit of >> I did have

one more question about fundraisers. Um I think you've done a good job. Um, I asked you to be more specific about what the fundraisers were going to on the public side and I think you've done a good job of that. I think it would be great to promote later come back and say look what we got whether it's library books or whatever all these so that the community understands where their funds are going to >> like I don't know what the band what the jazz does for the band but if we could follow up >> they got new instruments they went to these they got uniforms they got whatever any way that we can promote that I think is valable >> that's great >> like a I'm gonna add to that actually. Um, with fundraisers,

do we have any sort of system in place for how we decide who can do what fundraisers? Is there anything to limit like we can stay in a certain lane or do we just overlap however people want to do a fundraiser? >> Um, there's so there's a fundraiser request form and process to go get it. We don't think of having a like you have to set in these parameters, you have to set in those. Um, in general, what we do is the recurring annual ones kind of have first dibs. Um, but no, there's not much more than a, you know, hey, we know the eighth grade kind of starts theirs this time of year. We know now jazz night's going to be that February, March, we know book class this spring, but the one that

facilitates this fall. We kind of just have that pencled in, planned out. But other than a request and approval process through administration, there's not Did you find that people stepped on each other's toes? >> Take another fundraiser that somebody else had already done in the past. >> Not particularly to be honest. It's trickier with grants. Sometimes making sure we're not double going for the same grant for two entities. Making sure we have that process. But with fundraisers, not too many. Timing is a big key. Like these these needed to be spread out. >> Yeah. >> And I I caught it too late. >> Um but as far as you know, Derek had the chocolate going there for a while. That was kind of just we had book stuff is really we had too much stuff.

Um outside of school sometimes this youth sport this that is doing some of these things. Man, that's really similar. But within house, not honestly, not too much. At least not the news travels to a small school. So, everybody knows something. >> Yeah. Yeah. And there's times when people come to me with an idea. I don't know. >> That's pretty tight to what already happens here. >> One last question. You said you caught the overlap kind of the closest fundraisers too late. Was that because of the calendar system stuff or was that just you personally? >> No. Um so well what happened was we had the calendar date added for one event two weeks which I need to I need to go back through and just tell people hey I appreciate it but no because that

doesn't give us a strong a big enough window. Um, and uh, I was trying to make everything happen and I probably should have said, "No, we're gonna need to push that one out for more." >> Yeah, >> there's a building maintenance calendar that if you ever turn on Google, it's very overwhelming. It's got a lot of stuff. >> Yeah. >> All right. Is that question? Thanks, Adam. >> Next up is our superintendent. >> Good evening for March. Let's start off on our summer learning grant. Um Missy Love spent a great deal of time on this and then I followed up with some of the other details. Um a bit of history on the summer learning grant. Um in 2024 we were not awarded. They had a different technical formula. That was unfortunate. Last year we

were awarded,000. We did spend 124,000 on our program cost. Um and then this year they changed it up again and they have a competitive grant in this for three years. So if you are not awarded as a district, you have to wait three years before we get a chance to apply again. Um, so they gave you a month window to put it together and uh released I think three or four attachments. Um, but we we really just replicated what we did last year with um a couple of different improvements to it. Um, but the grant proposal is actually um due this Friday. I did submit it yesterday. So it was nice to get this one done. Uh, you must have a literacy focus. You must first invite students that are not reading at grade level

and um we are doing our program as entering grades one through eight for the summer. You have to have 80 hours of student contact time and then academic learning with youth development. So youth development activities are like your enrichment and hands-on and then of course we provide the transportation meals to go with this program. our program design. Uh we're going to start July 6th. Staff are paid a couple of days um before to come in and set up and prep. Students attend 8 to noon. We're going to be doing some field trips on Friday. Uh we're looking to partner with the tribe. Um we would love to take the students on a field trip out there. And then also um we have a partnership agreement with the sharing library. And then um the students will

be in groups and it is a rotation during that time of a mix of the literacy instruction and then the hands-on um enrichment groups. And of course part of the one of the attachments is the whole program schedule. So we are hopeful that we're going to get this we'll find out the end of April or early May and then we have a very quick turnaround to hire staff and get them going. So it'll be it'll be fast. You have a list of staff that are already >> we surveyed them. We had a whole bunch, you know, wanting to work. So last year I actually been interviewing people for positions. So we just have to start blocking that time out on the calendar knowing that it's it's going to take some time to get that um

planned out. And um you see we'll be the administrator for oversight um during those weeks in July. And then we also hire a coordinator um to help fill in the gaps and manage some of the the student and um employers do the clerical support. We also do custodial support and it's all required of our budget. We submit 120,400 for this grant. All right. And then up for um one of your action items tonight is the calendar for 2617. So for the first time we are going to start school before Labor Day and uh this is this is a change this calendar we went through all kinds of renditions on this. We had so many versions going and checking absolutely everything. There was just some challenges Labor Days late this year Veterans Day is on a

Wednesday. Um we just wanted to navigate what's going to be best for our students, what's going to be best for uh school attendance, how to best work for our modified 4 day week. um really looking at our conferences and what um what's the effective format for conferences especially for grades six through 12 because we don't have um great attendance for those for those grades. K5 K5 has great attendance. So that's it's kind of typical when when the students get the secondary grades. So, uh, we worked through the details on this, um, and so what you're going to see and when Karen gets a hold of it, she actually goes down to minutes, um, because the hours get a little messed up because we work an 8 and a half hour day, Monday through Thursday, get

a long way calendar. So, Karen would do this and then this sets in motion all the employee calendars depending on their contract and the number of days. All right. and a bond update. So exciting that we are moving into our design phase. Uh Friday, April 10th, uh we will be sending out invites to staff to participate in these meetings. Um we are gonna have our team with Rick and our project manager there uh to look at science room secure entry um our FCS music rooms and also the FCS locker rooms, restrooms and concessions again. So I will be reaching out to staff and setting up a calendar invite. May 15th will be the next one that'll be a followup. So what they do is they bring some renderings and then they get the feedback through

this design meeting. Um get that feedback and then they come back with their changes and go through it again. And then if necessary um we will have another meeting on the 29th and by that time we should also find out if we've received the seismic grant that we've applied for for Bner Chapman and that is uh 2.5 million for that grant. So exciting that we're able to move into this. Again, a reminder that our summer projects um are going to be the parking lot here, exterior lighting, um and the roof for the high school. All right, questions, comments. Is the design meeting open to the public? >> I'm sorry, what? >> Is the design meeting? I think for board members, yes, I'm I would be cautious about getting the roots too big because you really

do get into details of like for Mr. E's storage, child space, how do you want to set up require the noise, all of that. So, I guess very specific. >> I got a question on the calendar. Um, as you remember a couple years ago, we we ran out of we had to add time to our calendar because we had snow days. So, how are we padded like are we looking good? I know this year we seem to be okay. We we are um a day in private. So, we could do that and then if not we would look at adding a day. >> So, and the the days so let me rephrase this. grades K through eight are well above. >> It's the high school hours, >> right? >> It's Yeah. And one of the

things we did to change that was um not to have that soft start of freshman only. >> So that gave us that extra day just for the high school >> to have it. And then on top of that, we were ahead in our instructional hours. >> So that makes sense. >> Question. >> Yeah. Sorry. Was there a reason you put um a teacher work day on January 4th on the calendar as opposed to on the Friday? That was requested from staff. Oh, okay. And we we had to get so many minutes in and it was one of those things the staff coming back from break really wanted to have that time to to regroup and prepare. >> It's been requested for a couple of years and we all decided to figure it out. Good questions.

Any other questions for Dorian? We're going to move into our fiscal reform. My understanding that Karen went home sick. Good. If there is any questions, Dory can possibly answer them. If not, she can write them down and get them handed out for us. Um, as we know too, Karen's store is always open for us, so we can always go in and ask questions. Does anybody have anything that they wanted a little scary, but just recording? Maybe that's concerning, but it always gets that way. >> Okay. Then we will move on to our shop report. I learned last time I couldn't see the screen, so I brought my own. All right, we'll start with some introductions. My name is Dr. Jesse Watson and I'm the executive director at Watson Academy and this is my 14th year

at the school and I'm Julia here. So we're really excited to be here because we've not seen some of you before. So this is really nice. Some of you we haven't seen before. It's good to see familiar faces again. Uh we're going to go through this pretty quickly and then you'll have some time to answer some or ask some questions at the end. But this is just a general overview. I know there's so much we could tell you about this school, but this just gives you sort of a snapshot with what we have. Uh we have some enrollment averages over the past few years. A little bit of information about our early college program. Early college, uh you probably already know a little bit about that because the district has a program, too. Um an

overview of our faculty and staff. Overall, I think we're up to 54 staff members now. We've grown quite a bit over the years. Uh in 2022, we did purchase two buildings over across the bridge, the old um FCS space, and we've been working on fixing those buildings up since we got them. Hopefully, we'll get a new roof on our north building this year. We're just waiting for the weather to warm up and, you know, stop raining a little bit. Uh and then we have our career and technical education. We have three CTE pathways. We have the education, training, health sciences and business marketing. And then of course uh one of our favorite things this year children's center and that shows you some of our staffing for that. All right. This just uh again these are

snapshot things. This shows you a little bit about our growth since 2012. Uh you can see we had some pretty slow steady growth at the beginning and I'm sure you can see where COVID happened and then you can also see where a lot of people went back to brick and mortar schools. Um but once we had that exposure during COVID and a lot of families learned what online schools do then our enrollment really went up because some people just prefer that model. It worked very well for them. So now we're up to I think 408 was our highest year. Okay. All right. The next one. Uh, we wanted to give you an idea of where our students live. So, a little over 17% of our kids come from right here in Sheridan. Uh, we tend

to trade kids back and forth. Um, and a lot of times it's the families who are just looking for their best fit. And we really appreciate the opportunity to uh you know have that back and forth because our goal uh is the same as the goal at the high school. We want our kids to graduate and if they can do that with us, great. If they can do that with the high school, great. Um but we're really happy to be able to mesh that together. You can see we have some local towns also in Bill Lina and Carlton are our next PPS. That's Portland Public Schools. we get a small percentage from them and then you can see it just gets smaller and smaller and big chunk uh down there is other districts um you

know we might get one two students here and there >> could I ask a question >> Sure um the Sheridan number at 17.5 is that similar to what it was in the past years is it growing is it shrinking where are we at there >> it's it's generally about the same we see some fluctuations normally at the beginning of the year we have fewer shared students and Then as the school year goes, we tend to get more. Yeah. So, um, so you'll see a little bit of that wave throughout the school year and over the years as well. >> Uh, the next one is our grade band distribution. This one has changed quite a bit over the years. We have seen our elementary numbers going down and our high school numbers going up. And this

is not just sher, you know, Sheridan kids coming to us. This is statewide. Um, we're getting many more high school students. You can see almost half of our kids are in high school. Uh, the next two slides, I've used this before and I just keep adding to these because this um data is so valuable. Uh, the first one is going to be our four-year cohort graduation rates. And um, when I started with the district in 2012, our graduation rates were terrible. And everybody knows that. And you know, our main goal at that time was just to get those rates up. And I love showing this slide because it shows that we were able to do that. And for the past couple of years now, we've been on board with Sheridan. And we expect to see

this, you know, pretty much at the same level continuing now. And again, we're going to see some of this overlap. Um, but I really like where we are now. And the next one, these are the five-year competitors, and it's a similar type graph. That's all I'm giving you today. Um, I I wanted to say thank you so much for the partnership. Uh, we are just grateful for everything the district does and I have to tell you our relationship with Dory is fantastic. And you probably hear this from other people, but um, she is so easy to work with, very uh, communicative and supportive and we really like working with her. So, hope you keep her around. Um, oh, the other thing I wanted to mention, our children's center. We we are hosting the Chamber of

Commerce meeting on April 3rd, and we're going to be giving tours of the Children's Center on that day. So, if any of you want to stop by that day, the Chamber of Commerce meeting starts at 8 o'clock in the morning, you know, for light breakfast. If you can't come that day and you just want to come tour the school as a children's center, you can make an appointment for a individual tour. We'd be happy to show you around. >> I encourage everyone to go get a tour. I think that you guys are doing awesome things over the relationship like before I'm just curious like what kind of it was challenging for many reasons. Um but there were also positives. Um the board was different and the superintendent were different. Uh you know Dory's my third

superintendent and um I think is the only person who's you know been on the boards the whole thing. Uh but the people who make up those parts really make a big difference. And what this board has allowed us to do and and you know the people who were just outgoing recently, what Dory has allowed us to do is um really given us the freedom to increase our enrollment and that allows us to hire more people and then we can provide better services. That was huge for us. Um, so you know, the the relationship before had some tension because the district would get complaints about our student scores. You know, they'd look at that school report card and go, "Why are they with us? Why why do we want they just bring us down?" And they

were right about that. But um but with that, they didn't always give us the opportunities to grow that we really needed. That was hard. And a second question is also um what's been the impact from the removing the enrollment cap? Well, you can see um we removed that cap last year and our enrollment only went up a little bit. I think we were at yeah 399 to 408. So it hasn't been a huge increase because we still want our increases to be reasonable and controlled. We don't want to suddenly explode and not be able to manage it. So um you know we are hiring when we get more students slowly because it takes a while for training moving properly too but I anticipate it would probably look similar to more more similar to the left

side of the graph than the right side. I think it's going to start to slow down now and not be quite so steep. Um the first one >> yeah um your enrollment capacity and staffing. Is that your actual numbers or is that just for the faculty and staff? I was looking at all children. Sorry. Oh, that's our capacity. >> Um but not every student is there every day of the week. So overall, I think she has 50 students, you know, or just right around the 50 student number. Some of them are five days a week, some of they're just two or three days a week. We have a lot of overlap, but that's their maximum capacity on a single day. >> Question. >> Yeah. About the high school rates, what are your thoughts on why

that's happening? >> Well, as I said, it's not just from Sheridan, it's statewide. And I think once co happened and some of those high school students saw that there were um different avenues for learning and ways to get credit acceleration or particularly credit recovery. Um we allow our kids to test out courses. We don't want them to take courses that where they've already taken and maybe want some failed. We want them to test out of as much content as possible and move on and graduate within that four or five year time. Some schools don't allow that. They you retake an entire class and sit through everything. You know, there there are barriers in other schools that we don't encounter because charter schools do have some advantages. So, I um I think that's one of the

reasons more question. All right. Thanks everybody. We don't have any new business today. We're going to move on to our action items. Our first up is our 26 27 calendar earlier. So, is there any motion to accept the calendar as presented? >> Is there any further discussion? Hearing none, we'll move into a vote. Go ahead and take the vote. >> I motion passes. Next up, we have a rather large chance to look through it. Uh, is there a motion to accept the March 2026 policy packet as presented? I'll move to accept the March 2026 policy packet as presented. >> There second. Is there any further discussion? >> Yeah. No, I actually thought it was really well presented. Very proud of you guys. It's usually pretty well presented. I was saying I didn't find a lot

of >> weird. No other discussion. We'll move into a vote. Jen, go ahead and take a vote. >> FCS field trip request. Is there a motion to accept the FCS um music field trip as presented? >> I move to accept properly seconded. Any further question discussion? >> It was hearing. No further discussion, we'll move into a vote. Jen, go ahead and take that vote. >> I All right. send you guys on your way and uh go get them, right? We can't wait to hear how you did that short. All right, next up we have the baseball co-op with Lina. Um I think we all heard about this already. We also have a small one that we'll vote on next. So, is there a motion to accept the baseball co-op with >> Move to accept the

baseball? >> Is there a second? >> They're all over the place. Natalia, >> right? It's been second. Any further discussion question? No, I think it's great that we're working on. All right, we'll move into a vote. Go ahead and take >> and next up is the softball co-op. Is there a motion to accept the softball co-op? >> Ruby. >> All right. Any further discussion? hearing none. Go ahead and take. >> All right. Next, we're going to move into executive session via OS 192.6602i to review and evaluate the employment related performance of the chief executive officer of any public body, a public officer, employee or staff member who does not request an open hearing. So, thank you all for coming. We'll take you over next time.
