001How are you? >> Almost too nice of a night to be in here. >> Yeah, it's a little chilly out. >> I know, but there's sunshine. >> That is true. >> How you doing, Ardette? >> Not bad. call to order the what are we at? May 8th. May 11th. Wow, a couple days late. May 11th meeting of the Konos Stoi Valley Board of School Directors and greeting to anyone watching online. Would you please join me in the pledge to our flag? I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. This is our first of two meetings per month in which we receive most of theformational presentations as well as discuss and deliberate future
002decisions. There are also action voting items required on timely issues and to meet time constrained deadlines. Our meetings observe all legal requirements and our district policies to the best of our ability and understanding. Our detailed agendas and related public documents are posted on the district website for public access. Can I please have attendance, Mrs. Martin? >> We have eight directors present tonight. Miss Gibler is absent. We do have a quorum in place. >> Awesome. For the agenda tonight, have there been any additions, deletions, or corrections? >> There have not. >> Awesome. So then can I get a motion to approve tonight's agenda? >> Wow. Everybody >> I move to approve the agenda. >> All right. >> Second. >> That was the first of many firsts. >> Wow. >> All right. >> So we have a
003first and a second. Yes. >> Awesome. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any nays? Good. We've got an agenda. Um so we'll start with superintendent's comments. >> Okay. Based on that last response, I I I'm guessing people are in a hurry to for a quick meeting tonight. So, I'll be brief. Uh first, happy Mother's Day to all the all the mothers on the board and in the audience and out there uh live streaming. Hope hope it was a great weekend for you. Uh I will keep my comments brief because next week is going to be a very busy week here at the board meeting. We have uh we'll have quite a few new approvals coming your way for new teachers we're hiring. We also have the retiree recognition and we also have
004the excellence in education award. So it's going to you're going to have to hear me talk a lot last week next week. So try to be brief tonight. I do want to give a shout out to Dr. Aloa and her team at Leyola. They put on a wonderful event last week at the open house uh for the new Leola. It it was a great turnout. Uh it was it was wonderful to see all the uh this how excited the students were about coming back to their home building next year. uh when they get to return. Uh but there was also a lot of non- students that were there as well. A lot of retired teachers came back. A lot of uh uh some of our other community members who previously attended there were there too.
005So just a great event. Uh really really uh was wellreceived. Uh pretty busy this time of year. Tomorrow night, just a reminder, we have our elementary spring concert. Our combined band and orchestra concert uh is happening on the 19th. We have our senior awards night for athletics. or no, that's our our senior awards, just our regular senior awards night. On the 21st, the middle school spring concert. May 22nd, we have a really special event that doesn't happen all the time. Uh we have a 50-year time capsule being opened at Fritz Elementary School in the morning. Uh and then of course, you know, the the granddaddy of them all, we have graduation May 28th. So, it's a busy month. Uh and a lot of exciting celebrations happening throughout the district over the next few weeks. So,
006that concludes my report. Awesome. So, then we have uh board comments. Any board comments on district activities. >> I have a bunch. Um, >> I was going to say I I attended the All Pro Dad's breakfast uh last week here at Smoketown and uh that's a program. I'm not sure if it's at all the elementary schools or not, but I really appreciate the the teachers and uh parents, staff that help put that event on. Um, at Smoke Town it's I don't know roughly five or six times a year and just a really cool opportunity for dads and and kids to intentionally be there, be together, have breakfast and then um talk about a character trait and it's always very well attended and uh I just really appreciate um everyone that's involved with that. Um so
007thanks. Yeah, they had a uh All Pro Dads had an evening one too at Fritz. It was a basketball night and I don't mind saying I was well out of my element because I'm about as athletic as a boulder. But um it was fine until Mr. Swift has had us doing running drills and I was like, "Okay, what? Wait a minute. I thought this was about kids and us having fun. Why am I running?" Anyway, uh a lot of fun. The uh I also got to attend Leola's open house cuz my kids had gone there and they were really excited to go back. my my older children wanted to go back and see the school and although they said it's too sterile, they said it's just there's nothing decorating the walls. I'm like, yeah, that's
008kind of the point. You need a blank slate to start from, but the building looks amazing. Um especially that middle court courtyard. Who knew there was a whole concrete bench around there? Had no idea. Um Fritz had their night of the arts where all the kids perform different things which is super cool. It's the first time I've seen I don't know maybe 100 and so kids playing five gallon buckets with drumsticks. It was it was pretty entertaining. And then I had to hight tail it from there over to the final chorus band and orchestra concert and they did a senior recognition that night which was great. Um very honoring to our senior students. Um I also had the opportunity of participating in the minthon uh the allnighter here. I signed up for every time slot.
009Um, looking back in hindsight, maybe that wasn't the wisest thing to do. Um, but I will say I had massive benefit from that. Um, I wanted to give a shout out to uh, Miss Nikary, Mr. Shot, Mrs. Torres, who are the three uh, teacher adviserss that put that on. They did an excellent job. Um, and to all the chaperons that helped out. There were many teachers as well that whose names I could not possibly remember all of them. Um, and of course, um, uh, Sergeant Goss was there. The one SRO who's usually relegated to the middle school was there. It's fun to see how the kids like interact with him. Uh, some of the girls covered him in Snoopy stickers or, uh, goofy stickers, sorry. And he took it in stride, even with a walkie-talkie,
010uh, which was not our property, but the police department's covered in a goofy sticker. Um, got to have some really great conversations with some of the students. It was just a really cool night. So I definitely recommend maybe not all night but next year when they hold the minithon sign up for a time slot or two and if you get a chance to chat with some of the students just such an awesome time. Um and that's it for me. Anybody else? >> Yes. The fourth grade class over at Brownstown did a Mother's Day breakfast which was nice because we also have um all pro dad >> but it was nice to do something for moms. So, it was just a fourth grade class and the kids um did a little video for us and they
011had breakfast and sat with us and it was it was really sweet. >> That's awesome. >> So, Mrs. Rumba there started it and it's the second one and I think they're going to continue it so they should. >> That's great. >> And Phil and I both attended the GHMS fifth grade teachers night. Fifth grade parent night. Is that what it was called? >> Yeah. >> Anyway, we were just over there. um probably the most well attended we've seen so far for incoming families to watch their kids come into the middle school or returning uh like myself and a few others. Um and other than a kid pulling the eyewash station uh in the middle of Mr. Richard's science class. Uh that was the most exciting thing that happened, but Phil was there to turn it
012off and keep the school from flooding. So kudos to Mr. Eevee. All right, we have no presentations tonight. So this would be the first part in the meeting where we have some public comments specific to agenda if anybody has anything. No. All right. So then our first um action discussion item will be review and approval of the proposed final budget with Mrs. Hutzinger. >> Thank you. Good evening. Okay, so time is flying pretty quickly as it relates to the budget. Anyway, uh what I'd like to uh kind of just do a little brief little recap for you is the timing of of the budget process. So, if you recall, we opted out of the um act one accelerated budget process because we cannot uh request a millage rate higher than the index since we're receiving
013ready to learn adequacy sub funding. So, we're not in the accelerated budget process. Uh but what we still must do is to have a preliminary proposed adopt a proposed final budget tonight. it has to be adopted 30 days prior to um June 15th, which is when the annual uh or the the final budget is adopted. So, we can make changes to the budget between now and then with no problem. That's not an issue. We've did we've done this in the past in the previous years. Um what I do want to preface the um this presentation is we know we still have a lot of work to do. We did from last month to this month. I told you we were going to be working on this. We did reduce the numbers. We're having meetings uh
014a lot of brainstorming. We have some other upcoming budget meetings. So, we are going to be addressing how we can better balance uh the budget. So, as Dr. Hartman said, we're going to get there and like I'm determined we're going to get there, too. So, the some of the items that I showed you last month was a reduction of the uh capital expenditures by about $3 um $1 million. Uh those were the chillers and the high school chillers and the high school roof, which we're going to be taking out of the construction fund since when we do renovations on the high school that they would have been replaced anyway. Uh, and then the real gym floor replacement we're going to be taking out of the capital reserve fund. We originally had the real gym uh
015floor replacement scheduled to have already occurred, but when we when Ken Johnson met with the uh flooring vendor, we have to have air conditioning in that real gym before they can provide a warranty. So, we already got the air conditioning done, so now we can roll with the floor. >> Yeah. transferred to from where? >> Out of the general fund. So the $3.1 million what uh Ken budgeted in the general fund maintenance budget. We're going to reduce that take that cost out of the general fund and then it goes into the construction fund. >> That truly >> Yes. Yes. Sure. No problem. All right. So to highlight some of the changes that we made since last month, uh we started off originally on April 20th showing you a $96 million revenue. I know it's a
016little small, sorry. Uh and then the 3.5% millage rate increase would provide us with just under $2 million of additional revenue. Um I was hesitant last month to give some numbers on some of the real estate assessment growth. I was able to gather some more information. We think we can conservatively or pretty realistically add about $550,000 more in real estate taxes. That is based on some of the growth that we don't know. I do not have an assessed value on them. I'm going off of what the construction costs are and then uh an estimated time when those properties will be uh onto the assessment roles. We have some other smaller revenue items that I believe that we can increase in our budget. We start off a little conservatively. Interest income. Uh the rates have not
017dropped as expected. So, we can increase that. There's still some more uh potential income that we can add to the budget. I just want to get a little bit further through and uh we're kind of in a rough spot right now with some of the inflationary factors with um with food costs rising and also uh fuel costs rising. Uh the Federal Reserve tends not to reduce interest rates during a time of inflation. they want to increase them. So, I'm not seeing any movement there quite yet. So, maybe in the next couple weeks I can get some more information and maybe we can maintain the interest rate levels for the for the budget for 2627. And then we have some uh proposed increase in the prek counts grant allocation. Uh so that will certainly be helpful
018and also really transfer tax projections. I think that we're going to be able to uh increase those numbers as well. And then we just what I'm showing here with an $890,000 decrease in revenue was an adjustment that I had originally uh based on governor's proposed state budget for some of the subsidies there. As far as expenditures go, uh tuition reimbursement, we had uh in the most recent uh collective bargaining unit agreement, uh we had incentivized uh the teachers to uh take additional uh professional development courses and meeting certain qualifications. They could um uh be reimbursed for their tuition to certain limits. Uh we did see a lot of the teachers take advantage of that opportunity. Uh, but I believe that we can we're starting to level off on some of that tuition reimbursement cost. So,
019I pulled that number down slightly. Special education tuition. You might be wondering why I'm talking about increasing special education costs yet I have a decrease of $150,000. That is because there was a student with very high needs that was in a placement and that student either left the program or move I believe he moved out of the district. So, we are no longer responsible for that cost. So we can pull that number out. We have a couple other expenditures um that we're adjusting you some software professional development. Um we are increasing some other costs transfer to athletic fund for about $20,000. We have not increased their allocation for about five six years. So we need to help increase that to help them balance their budget. uh transportation contractor adjustments. We're continuing to see uh larger
020um nonprofit not not nonprofit non-public uh transportation students and then also uh the McKenna Vento the homeless students we're required to provide them transportation and we're just seeing over the last several years such an influx of the homeless students so that cost is going up and that is outside of the uh Breitbull contract that we just negotiated and approved last year. trans um also talking about transportation fuel prices and electricity costs. I mean I I'm just afraid that those are going to be um going possibly even higher. Hopefully not. Hopefully this is going to level out, but at least we're covering ourselves uh with those costs. So again, we're far from finished with this budget process, but this brings us down to a $2.1 million uh deficit. Again, we've got ideas. uh we just need
021to uh continue to sit down and meet and discuss and have uh people at the table from cabinet that have all different perspectives so that we can come up with a good plan solid plan. Any questions at on this >> is >> so basically yes >> got lost in the process. >> That's okay. it can't it's more confusing than you can imagine uh in the details. So with the preliminary budget when we were uh opting into the accelerated budget process in the event that we wanted to apply for an exception and increase our millage rate above the act one index we were on a very strict accelerated plan where we actually had to have a preliminary budget approved in February even before governor's budget presentation. So, uh, now and then we would kind of back
022off for a little bit and then jump into this budget process, this timeline in May. >> So, that that part's been lost. >> That's gone. Yes. We don't have to do that. It was um it was a good exercise. It was a lot of work when you only had a few months data under your belt. So again with uh as the law stands now as long as we're receiving the ready to learn adequacy supplements we can't apply for exceptions. So no point in going into the accelerated process >> I know short but >> we haven't discussed that. >> Okay. Yeah, we brought it up uh last month um on the 20th of April uh when I I mean I can run you scenarios if you'd like, but I think we're in a a difficult situation
023uh with having a deficit this large to and I agree I don't like to increase real estate taxes uh because I'm under I don't want to say I don't like to I am very understanding of the impact that the taxes have on uh the residents of the district. But if we don't do that, we don't have any other source of income to make up that $2 million. And we are looking at I I I spent at least an entire day last week going through almost line by line of the budget looking at patterns over the last several years. >> I look backation and I find any reference to exactly what milling were talking about. Well, this is the the max at 3.5%. I mean, we can have that discussion further, but it we're already in
024a difficult challenging situation with >> it's always challenging. I know. >> I know it is. It is. It always is. >> I actually on that topic I have a question. So the other included spreadsheet has a projection summary and our deficit desk keeps no falling worse. Is that the projections? Did you do the max millage rate that they've already >> for each one of them? >> Yeah, they projected that out um for about another four years. I think it's going to this year is 3.5. Next year I think is 3 >> two >> 3.4 3.2 to I had it on last month's presentation. >> Yeah. I knew that there was a drop a serious like went from >> Yeah. Big drop in >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. It it's when you project out it's um
025>> it Yeah. $9.7 million is huge. >> Yes, it is. And I know we're looking at Katsmore cuz I don't want to be in the news for other local school districts having the same problem cuz we were too conservative in the past couple years and I know as a board member I should have pushed harder for a high higher military cuz you showed us projections and it just kind of fell in deaf ears to some members and we really should have pushed harder and now we reap what we sow >> and we had to deal with this. So I'm looking at that we're around two two and then it jumps to seven. >> Mhm. >> Is that just the millage rate drops or our expenses suddenly go up because I know contracts are ending or
026that's just the math and that's where it is. >> That's just the math right now. That's just the math because the other factor that really is not completely included in those projections is some of the assessment growth. Uh I have no idea how much that data center is going to be assessed at. I do not know when that's coming on the rolls either. So that's not included in in these projections because I heard um uh that might be another two years. I I I don't know. I don't know what all is involved. The building is going up quickly. >> Yeah. My concern with the electricity bill is that data center. >> Yeah. So, >> I wish I wish as a community member I knew that was going in. >> Um, instead of, oh, it's here.
027It's already being built. Like, hello, where's the warning? >> Um, so yeah, I know you have quite the task seeing how this snowball just blows up in 2728. >> Yes. Yes. And again, um, we are making plans on what cost savings measures we can uh we can take. You know, we've done a lot over the last several years, too, with special education, bringing programs back in house. We look at those when we have the opportunity. Uh we look at um I mean, another big area that I want to really hone in on too is some of the uh the tuitions, you know, some of the placements. There's not a lot we can do with some of those because we can't provide those those services. And but we're finding that it's even harder to find openings
028for some of these students. and the cost to provide those services has been certainly increasing as well. So we're trying to look at different models. >> Okay. >> Um >> and I'm assuming we are at the max millage rate for the for as long as it's projected out we're at the max. >> Yes. Yes. Yes. >> So in the next slide just a I'm a numbers person. I read numbers. Other people prefer not to read numbers and read read the visuals. the pie charts, but you can see that, you know, we really um rely heavily on our real estate tax, our local revenues. And we are uh fortunate in that Konosoga Valley has a very strong uh retail industry, strong corporate industry, too, that uh is helping to generate some of these uh revenues. I
029do have a chart in here that lists the all the school districts, different millage rate. Uh if you look at the chart, we're the third lowest and actually I would like to take Soleno out of that. Uh so that would make us the second lowest and we've been able to stay that lowest because again of the uh the corporate base and the Route 30 uh highway. Um Seno has an um u an occupation tax. So based on what your occupation is, there's a sliding scale for what addition you have to pay. in return they reduced had to reduce their millage rate. So that's why their millage rate is so low. Expenditures uh again nothing too new on this pie chart. Um it's pretty much very similar to what it's been in prior years. So uh
030on the next slide then we've this is just summarizing act one index 3.5 generates just under $2 million as I mentioned earlier. value of a mill is 3.6 6 million and the average cost of a single dwelling home in Konosoga Valley is $215,000. And yes, the increase in the um impact to a homeowner would be $122 per year. And I always um yeah, there's the millage rate. And then the very last slide, I keep putting this in here just to keep this in everybody's forefront. Um, I I've said it before, our our district is looking fantastic. The buildings, Leola is an excellent example, looking fantastic, but we've, you know, we've borrowed from it, and we're averaging about $8.5 million annually in debt service costs. So, we just want to keep that in mind. Now, in
031a couple years, if we get to um begin looking at any other renovations, the next building probably would be the high school. I mean, nothing's else really is left other than the annex and service building. But if we look at the high school, when Scott Kramer was here, he's from uh Raymond James. When he was here in January, he said the way that they've kind of set up some of these uh bonds is that we could um refinance them and roll them into a high school. But that in some ways would be extending some of the uh the terms of the uh the debts and the bonds and also the um you know paying out the interest over a longer period of time. If we get to a point uh that we would be having
032surpluses, uh we would definitely want to look at uh transferring some of those surpluses into the construction fund and using those surpluses then instead of you know to slow down the need for uh issuing another bond. Any questions on the general fund? Okay. Um, I can roll right next into a brief food service update for you. Um, and then we do need to approve these um two resolutions and the the proposed final budget for the general fund. But just a brief update with food service highlights. Um some of the uh really good news and it'll tie in you every year and what the governor is proposing again is to continue the universal free breakfast to all public school students. I think that is uh been a great initiative. Um the governor is proposing that in
033order to help um get kiddos to eat breakfast. So another um um oh what do you want to call it? Another initiative that the governor has taken too is that if a family is on the free and reduced program, but they qualify as getting a reduced lunch now under his some of the regulations, some of the budgets that he's passed, they get a free lunch at right away. So, they potentially could have breakfast and lunch for free, which is great for the kiddos uh in order to be able to help with their education and concentration. Uh challenges, this is everywhere. Food costs are increasing. uh due to tariffs. We've got fuel prices uh that are increasing. Uh but we are budgeting um for 2627 for a new warmer oven replacement of $25,000 and high school
034combi ovens for a total of $100,000. So every year uh PTE requires us to file a report with them kind of uh summarizing some of the uh revenues, expenditures, and what the food service ending fund balance is. And then we because our food service fund balance is $2.3 million, uh what we have to do is provide them with justification. What are we going to do to reduce that because we don't want to be sitting on that much money as well. So we're looking at these one-time uh capital uh equipment purchases that are much much needed, long overdue, too. Uh and again on that same note too uh we are not we're recommending that we do not increase uh lunch prices uh for the 2627 year. Currently elementary uh pays 2 point $2.75 for lunch. Middle
035school and high school is $2.90 for lunch. And because we have that fund balance we're recommending we do not increase. And we're right in line with the other districts in the county. And in addition, we are actually a little bit lower than the county average. Then on this page is the projections and the budget. So again, I mentioned that we had a a $2 million um fund balance when we ended the 2425 year. And looking at our projections, uh we'll be bringing in some lunch revenue for those of students who pay of $647,000, operating expenses of 2.8, leaving us with an operating loss of $2.1 million. Uh but we do receive the federal and state subsidy uh for the uh participation on the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program, and that brings in 2.2 million.
036So, we're looking, if these projections hold, at having a an $80,000 uh profit at the end of 2022. And then with our budget, it's very very similar to what our projections are for the current year. Uh but because of the capital items that we're budgeting, uh we're that will put us into an operating uh lo or a loss of $145,000, but we still have a $2.1 million fund balance at the end of the year. Any questions on food service? >> I assume because so much of that is federal um money, there's no way we can um lower that fund balance. I mean, right now we're looking at what 10 times the deficit, >> right? So >> I I just had thought of $2 million just sitting there. So we used to uh really struggle every
037year and actually we're going into a loss at times almost at a deficit fund balance and then with co we received a significant amount of additional subsidies. I don't know how much longer that is going to uh remain the same same or increase maybe at some point they start reducing those subsidy rates. Uh but what it can do for us is may keep those uh lunch prices at the same level, not increase them and then also use some of that subsidy for capital items. >> Thank you. >> The operating loss >> is part of that the um lunches that are not being paid for. >> Yes. Yes. And are we making any progress? >> So I can tell you what we've done in the past year. Uh we went on to a um fullcourt bench
038press ben bench press with communication back in July, August, September. Uh we with the help of Brooke Bray too. Uh Brooke Bray is the administrative assistant for food service. Uh she and Teresa Drager the director uh worked on the communication. Really artsied it up. It looks really wonderful. We put it in English, Spanish, printed out copies. We have it here uh in the entryway into the district office because that's where people come to register their students. Um our student registar is dispersed providing that information out to the families when they register. Uh if they um need assistance uh completing the application, uh Teresa Drager and her staff will definitely assist. We reached out to seeds, provided them with the information. They're pushing it out to uh a lot of the the uh families as well
039that they meet with. Uh we've put sent out um notifications uh through parent link Katie. Okay. Through parent link back in the in the fall too so that we have a constant reminder. The next step in the communication process is that we need to uh really uh just um inundate people with reminders that just because you're on the free and reduced program doesn't mean you stay on the program. You have to reapply. So, uh part of the problem is families don't always understand that and then the 30 year 30-day grace period at the beginning of the school year ends and then all of a sudden they're receiving lunch charges. So, we're trying to work with families on that. Um when I did mention the universal free breakfast and uh provide allowing students that qualify as
040reduced to receive a free lunch, those were initiatives by the governor not just for the support of uh the education for students so that they have a uh at least two meals during the day u but it's also their initiative to help uh offset some of this um these lunch charges due to um the lunch shaming law. Uh, another uh, action that we took too in the fall was if a student came through and want and had a charge on his or her account but wanted to buy snacks with cash. Uh-uh. We said no. Uh, don't need to be difficult. They can, you know, still get um a regular lunch but they can't buy there's got to be some accountability, some responsibility, too. So they can't buy uh snacks with cash if they have a
041charge. And again too, what we find is at the end of the school year, uh the food service department works closely, especially at the high school level, um that if a student wants to graduate, if they want to go to the prom or whatever event, um they need to pay off their lunch balances. So we do see those numbers uh decrease usually in the in the May time frame. Do you know what the the unpaid meal balance is compared to other years? >> Um yes, it is right now for the 2526 year it's approximately 25,000. >> And is that below what it usually was? >> That's been pretty consistent. 19,000 24,000 24,000. >> Always right in that >> Yeah, right in that area. Any other questions on that? >> The food the food side. All
042right. >> Okay. So, I do need you to approve for me this evening uh the resolution authorizing proposed final budget display and advertising. This is standard resolution. the final budget notice which uh we also uh advertise and state that we will be approving the final budget on fe and this is for general fund on uh June 6 15th and then also approval of the um proposed final budget on the Pennsylvania form u PTE 2028. >> So you want the resolution first >> please? Yes. >> Okay. So, if you look at your screens, I need a motion to approve resolution authorizing proposed final budget display and advertising. >> I'm not making a motion. >> Okay. >> I'm not making a motion uh because I'm not going to vote for this. I'm not happy with suddenly finding
043out that we're talking about the maximum tax increase. Uh I've been through some really hard budgets uh to where they usually give us a list of this is what we're going to have to cut and uh without are having a chance for any sort of due deliberation as a board if we're happy with starting there uh I can't support it. We did uh at the la at the April 20th meeting provide a a a summary of where we were with our budget and there was a line item that did say you know real estate tax increase met at the 3.5% limit >> and adding in the $1.8 million. So that was provided. >> We did have a brief discussion about that. >> Yeah. >> At that time >> I look back on our presentations and
044I didn't find it. I didn't feel as if we were aware that that's what it was and we certainly didn't talk about it. >> No, I recall that we did. Um also um typically too I did we uh discuss it in uh the budget in March as well and uh March the March meeting was postponed and then I was very sick. So we took that presentation and punted it to the first meeting in April too. I realized that, excuse me, I realized that complicated it, but >> someone should have been giving us those presentations. >> Maybe we don't have a succession plan in place, but >> Well, I I thought I provided that information, but that's okay. I understood it and I understood that she was asking for the 3.5 increase and I verified with
045her just to confirm that. So, so I understood it. But yeah, >> I move we accept a resolution authorizing the pro final budget display for advertising. >> Can I have a roll call vote, please? Mr. Eie, >> I >> Mrs. Grath, >> Mr. Benigno, >> I >> Dr. Martin, >> hi. >> Mrs. Fischer, >> I >> Mrs. Capka, >> I. >> Miss Trobridge, >> I >> Mr. Gensel, >> I. >> We have a 7 to one vote. >> And then I need a motion to approve the proposed final budget. Is that correct, Adele? >> Correct. >> Yes. And a second, please. >> Motion to approve the proposed final budget. >> Second. I'm sorry, who was second? >> Diana. >> D. Yeah, we'll give it to Diane. Phil wants to pass the buck to Diane on
046that one. >> I already did the hard work. >> And I'll take a roll call vote on that, too, please. >> Mrs. Grath, >> no. >> Mr. Benigno, >> I >> Dr. Martin. >> Hi, >> Mrs. Fischer. >> I >> Mrs. Capka, >> hi. >> Ms. Trobridge, >> I. >> Mr. Gensel, >> I. >> Mr. Eie, >> I. We have a seven to one vote. >> Look the other one. >> Okay. And then we have the oh resolution for the tax collector. Is that the next one? >> Yes. Yes. So Lancaster County Tax Collection Bureau has been uh collecting our real estate taxes for us for about 10 years. It works out very well. They do an excellent job. Uh so we would like to appoint them as our tax collectors again for the 26
04727 school year. and I would like approval this evening if possible. >> Any questions about tax collections? Sure. None of you want the job. Just kidding. All right. So, I will take Give me one second. I'll take a motion to approve the tax collector appointment resolution. I move we accept the tax collector resolution. >> Second. Trobridge. >> I. >> Mr. Gensel. >> I. >> Mr. Eie. >> Hi. >> Miss Scruff. >> Hi. >> The 80 vote. >> All right. Thank you. >> Uh-huh. And then we have the approval to appoint school board treasurer for a one-year term, which of course is um Adele Hutzinger
048uh being recommended for board treasure again uh for this coming year. Any questions about that? >> I move to appoint Mrs. Huninger as the board treasurer. >> Thank you. We'll do a Oh, second. Who's going to second that? >> Second. >> All those in favor say I. I >> I >> any nays? That's what I thought. Okay. >> All right. That takes care of the action discussion items. The resolution tax collector appointment resolution is what we approved. Well, the this resolution is just who's collecting the taxes. resolution to display it, but we hadn't approved what we were going to display yet. >> Well, that was for final budget that didn't have to do with the tax. So, we approved the resolution authorizing proposed final to budget display and advertising. Then, we approved the proposed final
049budget. Then, we approved the resolution for who's going to be collecting the tax taxes. So, two budget items and then a tax collection item. The tax collection was separate. >> For who collects it? >> Are you talking about for who collects it or for the budget? >> For displaying >> displaying the proposed tax. >> This is just for >> we did that resolution for the >> This resolution is just for the services of collecting a tax. Yeah. >> Oh, I see what you're saying. Gotcha. >> You have to vote on the tax first and then the resolution. >> So, we should have
050voted on proposed final budget first, then on the resolution. That's what you're saying. Okay. Gotcha. All right. Make a note of that for next time. Make sure we get those in order. >> Um, so where do we leave off? Oh, that's it. We've already approved everything. tenative. >> Okay, cool. So, the tenative agenda for Monday, May 18th is uh attached. You can look over that. You have already been warned by Dr. Hartman that this meeting is going to go till 1:00 a.m. So, please wear your pajamas. Just kidding. >> Hopefully, that's not the case. Go ahead. >> Can we have a the meeting at Funks then next week? >> I don't think we have the approval for that with a deficit in our budget. Unless you're willing to pay for that, Mr. Baggdo. Um, so
051anyway, take a look at that. This is the second part of the meeting where we can have some public comment for anything in general. Okay. Um, are there any board initiatives and announcements? Um, Dr. Hartman did get a list of all the things that are coming up. The last half of May is going to be very busy leading up to graduation, then eventually to the last day of school. Um, and as as myself having a senior that's about to graduate, my May is very very busy. So, uh, keep that in mind and attend what you can. As always, we want to improve a board attendance. If you can attend things, please do. >> Graduation's at 7:00, right? At Calvary, right? >> Yeah. 7:00 at Calvary 28th. >> Yep. I I have one real quick announcement
052uh for the board itself. when uh when I put together the new board um pro profile, I always include our contacts >> and uh I tended to forget that they changed and they're the only ones that have it and they've changed twice so far this year. >> So uh if you want it print it out, I have some with me. If not, I'll be glad to, you know, to uh send it to anyone electronically. Most of the changes except for uh uh the new board members uh are with the tech department. They've changed uh their extensions >> and if you don't know what they are, you will spend forever trying to get through to the right place. So if you want those new ones, I have them. I have some with me. Thank you. >>
053Awesome. Thank you, Adette. >> Oh, okay. Yeah, for specific help from the tech department. Um, Idat and Kathy I think are well verssed with those that are are the most helpful. >> And I'm sure Adam's in a position where he's going to be delegating as much of that as possible. All right. So without any other board initiatives announcements, um this is a little long-winded, but I need a motion to move to executive session for staffing proposals and contracts as well as a legal matter legal matter pertaining to storm water management fees. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any naysay? All right, we're good. Topics for executive session. Yeah. Thank you everybody.
