For our boys volleyball, they are currently 1 to 7 and are hosting Crawford Christian Academy night starting at 6:00 for varsity only. After tonight, they will travel to Kanye Area High School on Thursday and start JV at 6 with varsity following. With
all their sports coming to a close, our senior nights are approaching. The following week on May 13th, softball will host their senior night playing View. Moving on from our sports, our clubs have been very busy lately. NHS had a meeting last Thursday to discuss the upcoming superhero day, also known as track and field and the same for the Sunlight Daycare Center. NHS is currently doing a fundraiser with hanging basket vouchers, which will end on Friday. Student council also hosted a meeting last week on Tuesday where they talked about the upcoming officers and teacher appreciation week. All current board members except for me are graduating this year, so we have some
very big shoes to fill. Elections will be held at their next meeting. STEM has been very active these last few weeks. Last Monday they had an inservice workday and today they took a field trip to ponds around Py Matuming to help clean up. Outside of clubs, the upcoming juniors recently had a meeting about potential officers and fundraising which happens to also be hanging basket vouchers. Their next meeting they will vote for their officers. Finally, to wrap up, prom will be held this Friday at the Franklin Wildcat Mansion. The theme this year is the 1920s and they will be holding dinner at the provided venue which they are calling a speak easy to go along with their theme. Thank you. Thank you mash. We have Kento Elliot or Cole. Good evening. Um I'd first like to
apologize for the absence of my peers. They are playing their respective spring sports. So it's just me today. Um and I'd like to start off this report by talking about the sports teams. So, our track team has had a lot of success this year. Many athletes are in the fast track to being statebound. Their next meet is Tuesday, April 29th. Our softball team is currently 2 and six and is scheduled to play at Titusville tonight. Our boys volleyball team is off to another great start with a 7-0 record. This past Thursday, head coach Nick Brooft reached the career milestone of 100 wins. He boasts an impressive record of 100 wins and three losses. Their next match is tomorrow away against Maplewood. Our tennis team is having a decent season despite the weather. They are preparing
for the Tri County tournament this Wednesday and the D10 tournament this Saturday. Our boys lacrosse team is 0 and3 and they play Hickory tonight. Also playing tonight is our girls lacrosse team. They are hoping to gain their first win of the season against Cash. Moving away from sports, our school drama club is working hard on the spring musical, The Drowsy Chaperon. Opening night is this Friday, May 2nd, and additional showings will be held the following Saturday. ROM will be held on Saturday, May 10th, at the Oaks Event Hall in Kgat Lake from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. The theme is red carpet. Our NHS um chapter had a meeting last Thursday, April 24th. This was the first meeting with the new inductees. They discussed various fundraisers um such as Cubb Spoon and also the senior awards
ceremony and the Special Olympics. Graduation planning is in full swing as senior council had a meeting last Friday discussing the details. The guest speaker has been confirmed and the senior six have been selected but not announced. Senior awards will be held in the auditorium on Friday, May 30th and the senior's last day of school is the following Monday. With the school year almost ending, elections are being held in order to vote in new members to the student government executive council. Thank you, ma'am. Emily and Leah, Mr. Mr. Herbstreet and Mr. Ram recently took a group of eighth grade mam students to the Eerie Maram Museum in Prescy State Park. The field trip focused on the region's role in American history, highlighting key connections to the War of 1812 and the Civil War. Students explored museum
exhibits, participated in hands-on learning, and made connections between local landmarks and national events. To wrap up the day, the group stopped at Sarah's for Ice Cream, a well- earned treat for their hard work and great behavior. The Recycle Kings launched a schoolwide pot challenge to promote recycling and support the MLK after school programs environmental business. Aluminum Kims earn points while plastic items subtract points. Winning the pot the W with the winning pod collecting the most aluminum. On April 22nd, 2025, one student alone brought over 2,250 cans. A remarkable effort that highlights the program's impact on environmental awareness and school spirit. Explorers are doing an English/social studies crosscurricular project with the novel duel in the wilderness. The novel tells the story of young George Washington's journey through the northwest Pennsylvania to deliver a message to the
f to the French commander of Fort Lebs had a strong first week of PSSA testing. Each morning began with morning activities to energize students before testing. In the afternoon, students participated in a mix of physical and academic activities to celebrate their hard work. Attachment three and I so move. I'll second Jerry. Any questions, discussion? Um on the um permission slip it says one chap room but there is parents going also. Um volunteer parents. Yeah, there's another parent going. Okay. Just wanted everybody to know that. So thanks. Any other questions? Not all in favor, please say I. Oppose. Same. Motion carried. Resolved that the board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby approves the Meatville area senior high school boys volleyball team to travel to State College, Pennsylvania on May 2nd and 3rd, 2025
at a cost to the district for transportation and see attachment for and I so move. Second. Second. Monica questions discussion not all in favor please say I oppose same motion carried resolve that the uh board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby approves the Cochran Junior Senior High School robotics team to travel to Springfield Ohio on May 9th and 10th 2025 at a cost to the district of 6,63 $35.71 attachment five and I so move there second Jeff question discussion also on that that dollar amount changes because they are now picking up their meals correct the students will pick up meals as specified so yeah the district is not paying that part um so we're kind of being fair to all clubs by doing that did they find female chef that they were
looking for. Yeah, I I had emailed there's um a parent who a female parent who's going and driving down. She won't necessarily be a chaperon, but she will be driving separately and staying there. And they were also working on another parent as well. Awesome. Any other questions? Not. All in favor, please say I. Oppos same. Motion carried. Buildings and grounds run. Uh, approval of the facilities use agreement with the Mevville area rec authority. Resolve that the board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby approves the facility use agreement with the Meatville Area Rec Authority for the period of July 1st, 2025 through and including June 30th, 2026. And you will have to have somebody else make the motion. I'll make a motion. Is there a second? Second, Monica. Any discussion or comments? I'm
still not seeing on the agreement. I know verbally supposedly some of this stuff that we talked about the kayak course and everything supposedly is being handled. I'm not seeing it on the actual agreement. Um, and from a legal standpoint, what's not there doesn't exist. Um, so I I wish we could have amended the whole agreement. Um, I'm also still not in favor of it because it does not it's still double dipping on the same tax payers uh through the municipalities and the school board. Um, and I I'm just not in favor of that. Any other comments? I can see the benefits of this agreement. Um, possibly working with the MARA to come to terms, I guess, to kind of have a better relationship, a better friendship, I guess, between the two amenities. So, I guess
in in approving or not approving, but possibly approving, I I would see that we're offering more benefits to our students. I did see the credit based um was added to the agreement but we're also offering the or the passes to our teachers or faculty that would also be a further benefit. Um so I I I feel that they did work with us to an extent. Any other comments? If not all in favor please say I. Post same. I get through roll call. Okay. Motion carries. Seven to one. Okay. Okay. Approval of the new gymnasium floor proposal for Meville Area Senior High School resolve that the board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby approves the new gymnasium floor proposed by All-American Athletics for Meville Area Senior High School attachment seven and I so
move. Second, Ed, any questions, discussion? Only thing I talking to Matt, he check reached out and they're going to cut the boards into like 3ft squares and put in a hopper. Um, it's going to save us like $3,500 if we supply the hoppers. I don't know if there's any legal reason that we couldn't let people know, hey, don't let that hopper get full. you know, if you want the boards for kindling wood, make furniture, whatever, it's available. Like I said, I don't know if we could do that. Um I I know I reached out to one person that said they may be interested. Depends on how much damage is done to the boards when they're removed. Um but, you know, just to save the district money. I would hope that we can let people take
the board boards and we not have to pay $3,500 for disposal. So, don't know the feasibility of that, but that's a suggestion. Did we get clarification on the warranty? Yes. Yeah, he he did. Okay. Any other questions? Discussion? None. All in favor, please say I. I. O. Same. Motion carried. um approval to receive sealed bids on the east end property. And now this 28th day of April 2025, the Crawford Central School District Board of Directors hereby resolves and sets the for the following. Um one is about the parcel of real estate. Two, it shall be sold uh pursuant to the Pennsylvania public school code. Um, three spells out the method of the sealed bids and uh four uh puts the terms of the sealed bids and uh the Crawford Central School District Board of Directors
reserve the right to reject all sealed bids in regards to the sale of the property. The attached bid form setting forth the terms of sale is hereby approved as attachment 8 and I so move. I'll second. [Music] Jerry, we should just mention it. There was one addition thing that we had put in and that was that we if the first bidder or the highest bidder fails to come through that we're moving to accept the next highest bidder rather than going back out to bid. Right. The the terms that we put in there were that all bids shall be irrevocable for 60 days. Yeah. So within that 60 days, if the first one falls apart, you can move on to the second one or you can you would still have the option of rejecting all the
rest of the bids. Okay. Any other questions? Not. All in favor, please say I. I oppose. Same. Motion carried. Finance. Jeff resolved that the board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby approves the following financial activities. The treasures report for March financial statements and the payment of bills. And I so move there. Second. Second. Monica. Any question, discussion? Not. All in favor, please say I. Oppos same. Motion [Music] carried. Result that pursuant to act 32 of 2008, the board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby reappoints Austin Staferin, business manager as the tax collection committee primary voting delegate for the Crawford Central School District and further resolved that the board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby reappoints Patricia Kidd, assistant business manager as tax collection committee, alternate voting

The reappointment of Mr. Stooferin and Mrs. Kidd as delegates are effective immediately and shall continue until their su successors are appointed. Delegates shall be appointed or reappointed by the board each year. All delegates shall serve at the pleasure of the board and I so move. Second, Jerry. Both of us. Any questions, discussion? Not. All in favor, please say I. Oppos. Same. Motion carried. That the board of school directors of Crawford Central School District hereby approves the Crawford County Career and Technical Center budget for the 202526 school year. And I so move. Second. [Music] questions, discussion not all in favor please say
I oppose saying motion carried next is the approval of the designation of depositories that we have to do every year they're listed there Citizens Bank one federal credit first national bank first union national bank savings Mercer County state bank northwest savings bank local government investment trust Pennsylvania school district liquid asset fund PNC Bank, Treasury Department of Commonwealth Pennsylvania, Farmers National Bank. I'm not going to read all of the verbiage there, but I do move that we approve this list of depositories. Monica, yes. Any discussion, questions? Not all in favor, please say I. Oppos same. Motion carried. Next one's also long. I'm just going to read the title for you and all. You can find it in the on the website. Uh approval of a resolution of the governing board of Crawford Central School District, Crawford
and Mercer counties, Pennsylvania, authorizing, empowering, and directing the proper officers of the governing board to appoint a liaison between it and Burkimer, the duly appointed collector of local taxes for the district for the express purpose of sharing confidential tax information with the district for official purposes. And I so move. Is there a second? Second. Ed. Question, discussion. If not, all in favor, please say I. I. Oppose. Same. Motion carried. Personnel approval of the second final reading of the revisions of the policy 800 records management. Result. The board of school directors. First reading of the revisions to job description 9.2, school board, schoolbased prevention specialist. You'll find that as attachment 15. Approval of the personnel schedules. Resolve. The board of school directors. Crawford
Central School District hereby approves the following personnel schedules which is attachment 16 approval of schedule A, schedule C, schedule D, schedule E, schedule H, schedule I and schedule M. And I need a motion move. Ed. Yeah. Second. Ron. Questions, discussion on any of those. Not all in favor, please say I. I. Oppos same. Motion carried. administration. Uh just wanted to ask uh parents and community as we're going into the summer months uh to continue to look at our district website uh and Facebook for opportunities that we will be having uh throughout the summer, whether it's credit recovery, um our MLK program, uh our kindergarten nights. Uh we have some opportunities happening with the Meatville Public Library um as well. Anything else? Other public board comments. Um on March 28th, I received a text from a
VOTE instructor. Um and I immediately forwarded to Dr. Gelton. Uh, and I purposely did not ask which school because I wanted to make a general statement. I wanted to read it uh to everybody. So, here here's the text I received from instructor from the vote. Unsure which school or schools have had this issue, but students are taking photos of others using the bathroom. There was also an issue with the this happening with a trans student. These photos of students using the toilet are being sent to others. The kids here say they want and slash prefer floor to ceiling stalls. They also use the bathroom mostly here because it's single occupancies toilets and not stalls. I'm I'm going to say this, you know, I don't know how much you watch Pam Bondi or anything like that,
but she in an interview she was asked by a reporter, what is the threshold before a school kind of basically has a plot? and she said it's going to stop in every single school in every state. U no boy will be walking into women's restrooms or undressing in girls locker rooms. That is what she said. So my statement is if you have a superintendent that is still allowing biologic boys into the girls restroom or vice versa, you have the wrong supervisor or superintendent, sorry. If you have a building principle that is allowing biological males into the girls restrooms or vice versa, you have the wrong principles. And if you have a instructor that cannot a teacher that cannot define what a woman is, they're probably in the wrong profession. Um, doing a lot of research
on this. In real science, the technical name for transgender is autogenia. It is not a gender, it is a fetish. Um, auto genophilia, sexualism by a man linked to thought or images of himself dressed as a woman. Um, I I mean I I don't know how many times that we need to deal with this or go over this or whatever. I took and campaigned on protecting the children and I'm going to fulfill that one way or another. I promise you if from today forward if somebody reports to me that this is happening at Crawford Central I will make the call to Pam Bondie's office myself. Period. I don't know how many people's behind me but like I said I I'm I'm tired of hearing this stuff going on in our schools and we wonder why
we have a mental health crisis. I think by now we should be able to put the pieces together. I really do. That's all I have to say. Any other comments? I I just not to agree or disagree or anything like that, but we still have a concern of photos being taken in the bathroom, period. Regardless of gender identity, sex, or anything, that's a concern that needs to be addressed. Exactly. Regardless of your feelings on any of that, I think that that's where that should start. Well, the cell phones need to go bye-bye. I mean, it is figured out. There's all kinds of studies on it. Um, where school after school is reporting better grades, better student behaviors and everything. They literally one school put out Uno cards on the tables in the library and the
cafeteria to get personal interaction again. Took away the phones and gave them something. And the students initially complained about it are now actually thanking the schools for doing it. Yeah. You know, like I said, the study after study is out there on this stuff. Not to go down rabbit holes. I think that you'd have push back from parents as well just for a safety concern, pickups after school, things like that. I just think it's I think there's a lot of conversation that needs to go into that than just yes or no. Right. And and actually I'd like to address that a little bit. The safety concern is actually it makes it worse and Jerry probably could speak on this better than I could. If you have 30 kids, if there's a situation at the school
and 30 kids are calling their parents and then the parents are trying to call into the school, calling emergency personnel, whatever to try to figure out what's going on, now you have actually overloaded the system and they can't manage it as well as if you had a single point contact. Yeah. So that's a double-edged sword. Yeah, right. It is. That's what I said. I think that obviously that's not part of the conversation and I I think it's not the appropriate venue to have this discussion right now. I'm just saying I think that it it's much larger than a a basic statement. I think it's a conversation that needs to be had, but I think that right now is probably not the appropriate time to have that conversation. Yeah. I mean, I guess everyone else got
to post their thoughts on that matter. So, um, my thoughts with the phone as a mom, we no longer have the pay phones at the schools for us to call our parents and say, "Hey, we we need to ride home real quick, you know, before it hangs out on us or whatever." But, um, so I felt better that my son had his phone at the end of the day. However, it should not be out during class or while we're in school. So, one policy I have seen and I really am a fan of is if the student is caught with their phone out, first time's a warning, second time your parent needs to come retreat from the school. And if the parents don't like that idea, well then speak to your children before it gets
to that point, please. That's what we're trying to avoid. Yeah, I agree with that. So, I would say let's compromise in the middle there. But I agree. It needs to be an agenda item where we can really discuss the cell phone policy and hopefully we get some parents invol in here to give input [Music] also. I'd just like to make reference to something that's going to be happening with probably a kickoff in August. Um we're still in the the working stages of um our ED consult on what's going to be happening. So pay attention as Dr. Dr. G said, "Pay attention to our website, but we will be looking for community members to be funneling or running up and and managing committees, at least four that we're looking at right now. Um, and we'll be
taking volunteers and moving forward with the kickoff. I'm planning we're planning somewhere in August at this point, but those announcements will be going out probably late June and into July to get those volunteers. So pay attention to your um um Facebook pages, website, newspaper because the more we get the better the plan can be. In the end, we're looking um if it's 100, 150 people involved or more. Um that would be great to help guide us on some direction that the district can be going in the next year, two, five, 10 years um down the road with a a solid educational plan. And um I think the more that we have especially if you're in finance or transportation um even if your concern is for education or where curriculum's at um and I'm hoping that
out of that curriculum that maybe some bullying could be issued or or addressed as well. um and just where we're going as a district. And I think that will be a big undertaking and could happen with some implication or implementation of that in the 2627 school year depending on how things play out. Um, as most of you know, we are looking at um, Jiren Sperry will be heading that up for the district once we get the the contract and everything worked out and he gets on board here in June and July working with the administration getting some facts and info for those committees that we're looking at. But I'm really looking forward to what we have um, in the potential of this plan. I think it will give us a good direction and I think
we will have the impact and the in input from parents and key players as to where we will go in the forthcoming years as Crawford Central School District. So please, if you can pay attention, if you want to volunteer, watch for those signups because we will need people. And I will make this statement that those committees will not be headed up by anybody within the district that is either a current board member or an administrator. These positions will be headed up by community members and they will be the leazison back to the board as a committee of a whole. So we will be kind of out but we will have board members serving on those committees but not as the chair. So, um, we want to be as open as we can be, as transparent
as we can be because we really need to get this public input as to where we're going. So, I wanted to just make that statement tonight while um it is on air and people are watching, please um reach out and um help us lead where we're going to go. Thanks. Yeah. Any other question? I think I think that that's like I don't think you can understate it. There's a lot of opinions and back and forth on social media and everyone thinks that they have the answer and I think that as a board we recognize that we don't have the answer potentially. I think that it's it's we really need to know what the community as a whole desires and I think that one Jiren's been through the process of you know everything from consolidating to
not consolidating. He went through all of those all those conversations that have been had that are touchy subjects for so many people. I think that that something has to occur and I think that the only way that we really get what's best for the whole is to have representation across the board. Having individuals in the community that are affected one way or another like you mentioned bullying. I would love to have somebody who had a child that was in the brick and mortar that removed their child from brick and mortar because of that and they want to see the curriculum change. I would love somebody sitting in that committee to have that conversation. Um I think that if if you have any strong feelings towards where the district's headed or the the future of it
that that I would highly encourage you to to pay attention to that and get involved and get on one of those committees whether you chair it or not. I think that that's I mean you know that's a undertaking cuz there's commitment to that. Uh it's one thing to to voice your opinion on Facebook and then shut it off and not pay attention to it. It's another to show up you know bi-weekly or monthly or even weekly if it necessary and have these hard conversations. So, I I would highly encourage people to think about that over the next few months when the when that's getting ready to roll out and think where they could best provide their input, their expertise, um, and their opinions cuz that's what we're looking for. So, I think it can't be
understated. I, you know, want to build off that a little bit. I wouldn't say just the people that was bullied and removed their children. I'd love to. Yeah. In general, I was just using you mentioned that you meant I just wanted to clarify that. be really great to hear everybody that has removed their child from the brick and mortar and gone cyber, you know, as to why for sure. And um I the other side of that is like Kevin said with the curriculum is, you know, what do we need for our students to know coming out of here? You know, we we hear that the students move out of town or what why, you know, what are they pursuing? You know, what there's a lot of opportunity right here. But if we're not educating them
to stay here, yeah, you know, like what they need in this area, you know, I I think we're failing the students also. So I think, you know, the curriculum great would be great to have some business owners onto that committee, you know, whether they cheer or just on it. It'd be really great to have from very disciplines of a lot of great things that I mean with with VTEC and they're expanding. We just saw Alec with Alagany College. There's some great opportunities right here and I I'd like the school district to be a part of all of that. I think we're moving in the right direction. It's just a matter of keeping that momentum. Yeah, we have to we have to train them to take the next step here in Crawford County. Are we going
to open this to students, too? Open up what? Are we going to open up the committee to have students on? I think that'd be there's been some conversation. I've had conversation with a couple board members. It would really be nice if we could have a committee that would consist of recent graduates or students to give impact and in and input back to what we did well and what we didn't do well. And that might be a really good question for Jiren as you know as as somebody who's went through it. They may have tried it. There might be a reason that it's an absolute yes or there might be a reason it's an absolute no. But I can't see why it would be a bad thing. Well, potentially a Zoom meeting because a lot of
them may be in college in different areas, too. So, you know, I had a friend that was on cashes. She was on a committee and she gave me my wife a lot of input here not too long ago. She says it's a challenge. Yeah. For the people on the committee for the school board, it's a real challenge. So, the more people involved and the better off you are. As far as hearing from our students, would we be bu be able to ask the student councils to possibly survey the students and we already have leaison that come here monthly to give us updates? Maybe that could be part of you know that update. Once again, I think that'd be a chair. Yep. Yeah. But I think these are I mean, it's all good ideas. I mean,
the more info we get, the more educated we can be to make that ultimate decision that rest with us or this board, whoever is going to be sitting here at the time to implement. So, We genuinely want to hear from the public. We want input from the community. So, please don't stay silent. Definitely speak up if you have ideas. Not everybody's going to get their way in that type of a situation, but if you don't at least make your voice heard, you might even uh, you know, convince some other people of your point of view, but if you don't show up and and take part in it, then you're not going to help make a difference towards what's best all the way around. Healthy discourse is all right. What's that? And I said, healthy discourse
is all right. We don't have to have the same opinions, but we got to come to the same understanding, right? Um, and I think I think that having many voices, although it can be hard to navigate, I think it's important um to to have a think tank of all like-minded individuals is not not beneficial to anybody. So, I I think that regardless of what your views are on it, we want to hear your voice. And I I think that that's important. Yeah. And I think it's important to mention that the Conate plan, they went into it with ideas and they came out with option six, which wasn't even part of an idea when they met initially. So what plan is sitting out there that this board does not know about? And we've thrown out all
kinds of options during committee meetings that we could do this or we can do that. What if we don't do this? What if we just leave it alone? But what's that magic one that we haven't heard or haven't seen? And as people tell me, there's no dumb question. It may be the best plan out there and we just haven't seen it. But by getting hundreds of people together, it could be the end result. And that's what I think we're looking for. Nobody's at fault, but we're all part of the solution. So, I didn't mean to uh go into too big of a discussion on that tonight, but I think it was needed just so that we can get the public knowing where we are heading and what we want to do and uh just to
get involved. So, there any other board comments this time? If not, is there a motion for adjournment? I'll second that. Jason, all in favor, please say I. Oppos same. Motion carried. We are hereby adjourned.
