p.m. And item number 6.2, we will recite the uh pledge of allegiance. And Dr. Barnett, would you please lead us? Thank you. Right hand over your heart. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you, Dr. Brenette. 7.0 is public testimony. And we do have a few uh people here to speak this evening. Uh so during meetings of the board of trustees, members of the public have an opportunity to comment on items that appear on the agenda, regular or special meetings or items that do not appear on the agenda, but are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the board, regular meetings only. Individual speakers shall be allowed three minutes to address

the board on each agenda agenda or non-aggenda item. The board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes. Speakers may not yield or donate any of their speaking time to another speaker. With board consent, the president may increase or decrease time allowed for public presentation depending on the topic and the number of persons wishing to be heard. the president may take a poll of the speakers or for or against a particular issue and may ask that additional person speak only if they have something new to add. And so first on my list here is Marine. Um and I always I I always have to ask you your your last name. I'm so sorry. Okay. Thank you for being uh considerate and telling me every time. I I really appreciate

it. No problem. Um, okay. So, no clock again. Okay. Thanks. Um, I'd like to express my sincere app appreciation for the presentation given by Mr. Caesar Lopez at the Bumont Unified Family and Community Engagement meeting on October 2nd. His expertise and insight on bridging schools, communities, and families, particularly as it relates to Mexican-American identity, were both informative and impactful. I truly enjoyed learning about the cultural and historical context he presented as well as the importance of schools fostering meaningful family and parent involvement. His message reinforced the value of partnerships that honor and engage the diverse communities we serve. Uh thank you for supporting opportunities for learning and dialogue on such important topics. Um and then just a little side note, um I did want to say, you know, when I first came here in August,

I was very concerned about the weight list for Boys and Girls Club. I think there were over 140 students weight listed just at Starlight Elementary alone. And I got news from one family friend that her daughter got pulled off the weight list and is ready to start next week. So I'm very happy because I think that'll make a lot of lives easier for a lot of parents. So thank you. Wonderful. Thank you very much. Yes. Thank you. Okay, Miss Sonia Cochado. [Music] Good evening, Bulmont USD trustees. Uh, my name is Sonia Kulcado. I am here as the family and community engagement co-chair and also parent of this district. I'm here to express my disappointment in the administration of this district and trying to censor our parent advisory committees. We had our first face meeting on

October 2nd where we wanted to honor and um pay tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month. We invited Mr. Dr. Caesar Lopez, a teacher for Bowmont High School to come and present. He provided a wonderful presentation to our families where he talked about cultural representation um and the importance of that in our schools. Um he encouraged parents to join our committees and be active participants in cultural um activities at our school sites in our district. People walked away feeling inspired and empowered by his words. And we got nothing but praise of our meeting and his presentation that night. The next morning, we got an email from Dr. Grace, stating that um the presentation that Mr. Lopez provided was actually very divisive and offensive and that he was no longer um welcome or invited to join our parent

advisory committees. I think because of that email, um, this, uh, district is in violation of education code 35147 that states that any meeting, um, held by a council or committee shall be open to the public and any, uh, members of the public shall be able to address the council or committee during the meeting on any, um, item that's on our agenda. Um, Mr. Lopez was here as a member of the community, not as a teacher. He wasn't here on his um, teacher time. He was there as a community member. he was not um divisive. He was if anything encouraging bridges between the families and this school district. Um I think it's important that we encourage our teachers to be active participants. Um and I think that it's important to retract what was said in that

email. Um that he deserves a formal retraction since that email was sent to him as well and a formal apology from this district um also. So I think moving forward um it's important to be able to embrace our community. I think this should be a lesson learned that we're not here to censor our communities. We're not here to censor our parent advisory um committees, our volunteers, our teachers, our students, and our families. Um there's a lot of divisiveness that's happening in our world. And that's definitely not something that Mr. Lopez was doing. Divisive is when we have board members that post things like this in their social media. Divisive is when you encourage field trips to um Riley's Farms. That's being divisive. So, you need to keep in mind that we're here to bridge um

communities together and that includes our communities of color. Um I as family and community engagement co-chair, I formally invite Mr. Lopez to continue to participate in our face committee meetings and I also encourage any other teachers in our district. They are always welcome. Um I welcome the families and the students and I stand by all of them. Thank you. Thank you. and Melissa Huggin. So, hello board members and staff. Thank you for taking the time to hear us out and what we have to say. I know that many of you know who I am already. Um, and that I am a huge advocate for diversity, inclusion, and building bridges to achieve common goals between the district and our families. Both myself, my co-chair, and my committee have done nothing but present ourselves in a professional

fashion and have done the best that we could to present and uh portray Bowmont Unified in a positive light, even though we disagree on many of the things that you guys stand for. So, with that being said, um I am speaking to my face meeting that I unfortunately was unable to attend. I originally reported back to me that everything went well. They were happy with our presenter, Mr. Lopez. Less than 24 hours later, I was met with that email, same email uh from Dr. Gray stating that she will never allow him to present uh for us again. Since I was not there, I did do my due diligence and ask committee members and parental attendees as to what their takeaway was. They all gave similar responses such as feeling empowered, liking the message, a feeling

of inclusion, wanting to build bridges with their children's school sites. And uh my question to you is is when did the district not want to have these conversations of how to build cultural bridges with our school sites? Is this something we're no longer doing? Are you now asking us at parent as parent volunteers to not volunteer or you're only asking us when you feel you need to check a box because you can't have it both ways, right? So, as of right now, what we're asking for is that you clarify, you know, the fact that are you wanting us to seek representation, you know, for our students, for our staff, for our faculty. Um because FACE doesn't exist without us. Again, we're parent volunteers. We check that box for you. You guys receive ample funds for

what we do, more than what we see to put on what we do. You guys receive the pats on the backs for what we do. We don't. We sit in the shadows and you guys get the accolades for it. Okay. And since when is one coordinator the one making the decisions for out ousting our speakers and allowing who is involved and who isn't? Those decisions should be made made by us collectively and it and a conversation should be had. Not to mention u when did our district start to treat our teachers so poorly? Is this something that you guys have always done or you're just showing who your true colors now? Because at this point we do believe who you are. We've been around since 2020. You guys need to believe who we are. We've

shown who we are. We've been here. We're not going anywhere. So, believe us, okay? We are here for our students and we're here to support our staff and our parents. Thank you so much. Thank you. Okay, that concludes our public comment. Thank you for the information presented this evening. Um, item number 8.0 Z 8.0 is pupil personnel. Approve the recommended action on the request for readmission of expelled pupil pursuant to education code sections 48916 and 35146 regarding student discipline case number 202425-04. Do we have a motion to approve this recommended action? Approval. Second. Moved by Susie, seconded by David. Any discussion? Um, I'd like to have a quick discussion, not about this particular incident, but um I have heard people talk about how kids come out of the district and come back into the district

and things like that. And it's um there is a prescribed process. It's kind of behind the scenes. The kids who are going through it are incredibly familiar. Okay. I'm sorry. There's a member of the audience. I can't hear you. Okay. Sorry. Um, is that better? Okay. All right. So, um, the process is the same for everybody. It's a very fair process. Um, but, uh, if you are removed from school through expulsion, then there's a checklist that you have to fulfill in order to be even recommended to come back. And I I think that um the reason why I'm making this comment is because I don't I don't really think everybody understands how that works. Um probably the people in this room do is the district employee section, but um our our friends in in the

ether who are who are listening. So I I just wanted to just discuss that real quick that it's not just an automatic rubber stamp. It's not a you were gone for a year so you can come back. It's there are some very specific steps that you have to follow in order to be asked well in order to apply to return. You you won't be asked to return, but you in order to apply for readmission, you have to follow the process. You have to follow the steps. Um and so yeah, that's really all I wanted to talk about, but thank you. Yeah, thank you. Good point. Okay, now this item is up for a vote. and motion motion carries. Okay, we we do have a report out of close session for item number 9.1. And welcome

back, Lance. We're so happy to have you here. You know, you you knew you weren't going to get away with without some type of um warm welcome in public. Good to be back. Good to be back. So, this first meeting has a report out of close session. So, you'd have your report out. Oh, you're shocking me. We're making you work. We're making you work, Lance. I was waiting for item 15.1. Nope. We're on so 9.1 uh the in close session uh the vote was unanimous in rejecting the claim. Uh and that is in regards to the uh Is there a claim is there a claim number on there? Yeah. Claim number 26-11. My apologies. No worries. Sounded good to me. Thank you, Lance. Appreciate that. Moving on to item number 9.2. We will now receive

a report from our student board member, Petra Raffelder. Hey, first time see. Good evening, everyone. I'm excited to share our secondary school sites great events, activities, and accomplishments. Breaking Down the Walls was a great success with students and staff enjoying the time working with uh Chitan Munel. He returned for the second year in a row to lead sessions about building connections and relationships among students and staff, making it a great event to support positive schoolwide culture. Start with Hello Week took place in early September. This was a positive series of events led by our counseling team and the associated school body. On October 1st, student of the month awards were handed out and about 70 students were recognized for a variety of reasons

Summerwind Middle School is having a fantastic year with the cross country team kicking off the season with enthusiasm and eagerness to win some medals, allowing allowing the cross country team to work together and make a successful season. The Summerwind Trails boys softball team gave it their all in the championship game. Learning about teamwork and sportsmanship are extreme and we are extremely proud of them. The first Summerwind Trails Middle School dance themed New York was a success. The students wore their Sunday best outfits and danced the evening away. Having interaction outside the classrooms helped socialize with each other and make new friends. The eighth grade uh Catalina trip was incredibly fun and students got to experience snorkeling, hiking, rock climbing, and much

more. It's such a great experience for the students. Um with some of them it being the first away um from home. They got to make memories that will last forever. On October 8th, the National Honor Society at Bowmont High School held their induction ceremony. The new student of the month, Mia Gomez, was honored. She's a member of a flag of the flag girls flag football team. 021variety of engineering careers and participate in hands-on activities. Bulma Middle College high school seniors went to the University of California Riverside to learn about the benefits of attending our local University of California. Bulmont Middle College students enjoyed tableabling at the district B Ready Bumont College Exposition, participating as student volunteers and learning from the different colleges and career vendors. Medical assistant students at Bowmont Adult School are rapidly rapidly advancing through the program and have begun hands-on practice to develop their clinical skills. The adult transition program has officially been opened the Bumont Bean coffee shop for this school year, giving them work experience while providing a service for the other students and staff from the school. Vocational nursing students participated and supported the San Gagio memorial hospital with their employee health fair. As always, thank you to

all of our parents, families, and staff. This concludes the presentation on events and activities taking place at our secondary school sites. Wonderful. Thank you, Petra. And now we will receive a report from our superintendent and review the district calendar for the month of October. Good evening everyone. We'll start by highlighting our uh facilities expansion here at the educational support facility uh to provide services specifically for u expanded learning opportunities program and some general multi-purpose rooms for our district office. So, it included two furnished staff buildings, two training rooms, and multi-purpose room uh building, restroom facilities, and more. Um, this expansion has received recognition by the city of Bulmont, Mayor Mike Lara, and state senator Roselles OOA Bogue. um board president Melissa Williamson and board member Susie Lara were in attendance and we're thankful for representing

the board. We also celebrated student of the month um at Sizzlers in Banning and we're so grateful for that committee and all of the supporters um partners in creating that program for our students and we were able to honor Mia Gomez from Bowmont High School and Kaden Alderson which um he is a student board member that will be serving the second term of 2526 school year. very proud of our students and I had the honor to present on October 1st to the Chamber of Commerce, Bulmont Chamber of Commerce. We were able to give them an update on academic achievements and facilities needs. Um we also uh highlighted the uh forming of the facilities advisory superintendent facilities advisory committee and invited all of the members to um have the opportunity to sit on that committee and

we held on September 30th the annual college and career expo. Over 400 people attended, 74 organizations participated. Bulmont CT culinary food truck staffed by students served food along with five other local food vendors. And then we had the homecoming on October 3rd. The game um was played against Redland's Terriers. The game was 56 to zero in our favor. homecoming kin king and queen uh Damian carpenter and Elizabeth Bachelor. And we had our instructional district-wide instructional day, our professional development day on October 10th. Over 900 employees participated and the theme was believe, belong, achieve. Um and that was the name of the conference too. the over 180 sessions offered by our own in-house leaders and the keynote sessions which was uh three sessions were uh provided by CEO and author Mark Pererna. uh it was a

great message and it gave us a lot to think about uh our generations that are up and coming and how they engage, what's their interest, how they look at their priorities. Uh so it was a very insightful keynote u and we today in cabinet we were reading all of the comments that we received from staff that had the opportunity to click on that uh QR code of a lot of positive comments and many of them really talked about that eyeopener the light bulb that went on to say I never looked at it that way. It was really really good and organization called educational results partnership gave honor role recognition for Sundance Elementary and Brookside Elementary. Now schools earned the California honor role award by consistently performing above the state average in English language arts and

math for all student groups for consecutive three years. So, it's a really good testament for our two schools to be highlighted. But as a side note, as you know the results also, we looked at our district overall and we are happy to announce we'll be making a lot more public information about it that we are the highest growth district in the whole Riverside County. And we took it a step further and we were the highest growth district for sure in English language arts in San Bernardino County also. So that means the whole Inland Empire. Um and we were Yes, that deserves a cloud. And when we looked at um the math, we're really the highest also in the Inland Empire except for a very small district in Sanino that was 236 um students that performed

two points more than Bulmont. Every other district in Sanino County and Riverside County, we were higher. Now the gap for English the next one in Riverside County performing um that actually achieved growth was four points away from us. So like really kudos to the whole team not you know the leaders in instructional support and many of them are in the audience today but also the leaders at every site and the people that actually make it happen at the classroom level. We're just so excited that you will see us in videos very soon because we're working on a video, not a message as an answer. Just kidding. Um, we will be um looking at the cost of the front page of our newspaper in the community for some of our residents that really like to read

the paper and not necessarily look at it online. And we will be sending it on parent square to all of our um parents. We're just really excited about the news and we think it's just the beginning. We're on our way to state first number one in the county. Now, I'm talking the highest growth, but it's still not making us the number one in the county. We're still like third and fourth hovering out of 26 districts. Um, but we're working on number one in the county and the staff has a destination in mind to ask the board when we achieve that. And then we're working on the number one in the state of California. So, thank you for everyone that made this happen in our district and thanks for your leadership. Of course, it happens here

at the leadership level with all of the decisions. And I'd like to highlight just a few things on the calendar um real quick that the great shake which we will be be participating in um on October 16th and I think it's at 10:16 this time because it's always correlating with the date right Sergio. Okay. And then October 26th through the 31st we'll have bread ribbon week. October 28th, we'll have a regular board meeting with a study session that starts at 3:45 uh to have a study session that is uh giving us information about AI. And that is for the that is my report, Madam President. Well, that was a great report. Thank you, Mason. So, super proud of our district. We have a lot to be proud of. Uh 10.0's consent agenda. uh actions prepared

for consent agenda items are consistent with adopted and approved policies of the district and are deemed routine in nature. They will be acted upon in one motion without discussion unless any member of the board of trustees requests that an item be removed from the consent agenda. In that event, it will be taken up in the order indicated on the main agenda. Uh, is there any board members that would like to pull um any of the consent agenda items? Okay, hearing none, I call for a motion to approve items 10.1 through 10.9. So moved. Second. Moved by David, seconded by Lance. And this item's up for vote now. and motion carries. Thank you. Item number 12.0, special legal and discussion items. Uh adopt 12.1 adopt emergency resolution 2025-26-18 regarding the repair and remediation of water of

a water leak at Bowmont High School. Do I have a motion? So moved. Second. Moved by David, seconded by Jeff. Any discussion? Yes. Towards the end of the resolution, there's a I got a little confused. Um, it looks like if it goes over the 125,000, it needs to come back to the, you have the authority to implement, but it needs to come back to the board. It needs a a supermajority, a 5- fifths. Um, it needs this resolution that you're approving today. Okay. So, we're going to, again, this is where I got confused. Are we going is is the price going to go above the 125 that's in the resolution? I think it's already um determined. So, yes, there we go. Um we're looking at a maximum of $125,000 as of today. The work has

been contained and has been resolved. The way the resolution is worded u per our legal counsel is just to give us the flexibility and the board the flexibility should the work continue and extend that we need we would need to bring back to the board at the next board meeting an update of where the the remaining of the scope of work would take uh but as of now the work has been contained and the work has been resolved okay but you'll have to bring it back to because I was reading you had a 7-day window and then also a 14-day window right should the work continue but at this point we're completed did with the work. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Good question. Any any other questions or concerns from the board? Okay. Uh so we'll

call for a vote and motion carries. 13.0 Zero's human resources. Item number 13.1 is to approve the certificated personnel assignment order listed on the report dated October 14th, 2025. Do we have a motion? So move. Second. Moved by Susie, seconded by David. Any discussion? Okay, let's vote. and motion carries. Moving on to 13.2. Approve the classified personnel assignment order listed on the report dated October 14th, 2025. Do we have a motion? Second. Moved by Lance, seconded by David. Any discussion? Call for a vote. [Applause] And the motion carries. Okay. Item number 13.3, approve the administrative and confidential personnel assignment order listed on the report dated October 14th, 2025. We have a motion for approval. So moved. Second. Moved by Susie, seconded by Lance. Any discussion. Okay, we'll call for a vote. And we do have

a presentation. Motion carries. And we do have a presentation at this point. Introduction. Not a presentation. Introduction. Approve a memorandum of understanding with the Bumont Teachers Association for president's release time for the 202526 school year. We have a motion. So moved. Second. Moved by David, seconded by Lance. Any discussion? Okay. Call for a vote. and motion carries. 13.5 approve a memor memorandum of understanding between the Bmont Unified School District and the California School Employees Association and it's chapter 351 regarding adjusted work hours for educational liaison on early release days. And do we have a motion? So moved. Second. Moved by Susie, seconded by David. Any discussion? Okay, call for a vote and motion carries. All right. 14.0 Zero is uh business services starting with for 14.1 which is receive a financial summary update and adopt resolution 2025-26-17 for budget adjustments

including beginning balance adjustments. So moved. I'll second. Moved by David, seconded by Susie. You need to is there anything that you need to present Sergio? There's no presentation. There it is. Okay. Madam President, there is no presentation. But this is a routine item that uh after our actual reports from the uh the September 9th board meeting, uh we are to bring this to uh to the board to make these adjustments that were made at that time. at our first interim uh report in December. We'll bring a we'll bring a full report of those adjustments. Um on your action this evening, there is a minor um change that would I would like to correct on the resolution. If we can correct the date to October 14, 2025. I believe the resolution has the wrong date. Okay.

Thank you. So I guess should we move to um approve the the financial summary update and resolution based on the assumption that the date will be corrected. So we'll still go with the David um moved and Susie seconded. Any any further discussion on that? Okay, call for a vote. Thank you. and motion carries. Okay. Item number 14.2 Two, approve Nef Construction Incorporated to provide construction management services and general conditions for the Bulmont Early Childhood Education Center. We have a motion for approval. So moved. Second. Moved by Susie, seconded by David. I'm still on 14.1. I just went from 14.1 to 15. Oh, there I'm I'm on 15.1. Yeah, my screen froze. Hold on. Okay, you guys. I was I was looking at the agenda and we are now on 15.1. We'll just give it a

minute. Would be just just one minute. Okay. Okay, that's good. Yeah. Should we log back out and log back in? I think it's on her end. Well, I have discussion on this and this is basically just this is really exciting. I missed the last board meeting when that this was um talked about more in depth, but um well, this is really exciting for me being that this is what I do for a living. And so, um, I'll just make my comments now to fill the time until we get back to item number 14. Super super exciting. 142. Yeah. 14.2. Yeah. 14.2. She can do it. There we go. We'll get there. It's okay. Sometimes we we have some glitches here. It's okay. We are there. Thank you. And we have a motion and we have

a second. Um and so old school we have discussion which you were launching into. I I had discussion. Anybody else have discussion? Okay. Call for a vote here. So uh Susie moved and David seconded. Yeah. computer. This is when I wish there was like elevator music or something, you know. I think our I'm standing. There we go. Okay. Oh, I just got Okay. All right. Oh, there we go. Solar flare. Is this Yeah. Could it have anything to do with the internet being slow today? It was slow everywhere. It's all right. We're good. We're We're good. All right. So, motion carries. Yes. All right. And so, I don't see any um 15. Section 15 is reports. Do we have a representative from CSA here tonight? Okay. Mr. Julio, go ahead and step forward. Thank you.

This is our report from Bumont Teachers Association. Thank you for those science teacher can say it was a solar flare. Uh good evening board. Um President Williamson, um Superintendent Kich and cabinet. Uh just a couple of quick things. Um first of all, uh BTA had one member uh on the new school planning committee and we've had two meetings so far. uh our most recent discussion concentrated on the use of flex space on the campus and um it's very interesting to see uh some of the design aspects. So I'm very happy to be a part of that committee uh going forward. Uh we also I attended the um district the elop facility ribbon cutting ceremony. Um very very nice facility and you know as we grow it's nice to see that we keep up with the

space that we can especially for the um tossas and the directors and the support staff so they can do their their job in a in a maximum space. So and I really like how we are allocating two of the rooms for the public to be allowed to check those out or reserve those to to hold meetings on. So um great idea and I really applaud you on that. Uh great job of Superintendent Kich at the chamber. It was present and uh also CFO San Martin as well. Um presentation had a lot of useful information and data in there and um the audience was well engaged. So I appreciate that and the public appreciated that and it was nice seeing some stuff and I learned a few things as well. I attended the Riverside County Coalition

of Presidents um RCCP. Um our executive board for BTA attended the uh CTA leadership conference. Uh I've been appointed by Superintendent Kakish to the Cal Schools uh JPA as the board member for the 2526 um representing labor for SIBA. And for this month, the meetings that still to occur, I'll be meeting with uh assistant superintendent Castillo. Uh BTA is meeting with cabinet. I have CFO Senar Dean also coming up. Negotiations will be meeting on the 24th. Uh I also have a meeting with Dr. Barnett, Dr. Brown, and the director of special education Toledo coming up and I'll be updating you on those meetings on my next report. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. We will now receive a report from the Bumont Administrators Confidential Management Employees Group. Could you work on making that name a little

longer, please? We We love our acronyms. Um, so I know. I just feel the need to say the whole thing now. It's Good evening, President Williamson, Superintendent Kish, board members, cabinet, college, community. Uh, first want to welcome newest member to the back team, Jacqueline Miles. um as the new assistant principal at Thringings Ranch Elementary. Uh also want to to thank and and wish best of luck to Anthony Kaiser uh who who's moving on to a different stage in his life and uh and I want to thank him for the work that that he supported um our schools and students. Uh also big thank you to Dr. Barnett, members of the instructional services and support team uh for everything that they did to plan, organize, and put on uh the Believe Belong Achieve conference uh last

week. It was an incredible event. And I also want to thank all of the staff members, both certificated and classified, for the work that they put into the event, uh, leading sessions, preparing the site, um, everything. It it really was an an awesome space uh, for us all to learn together. Um, and finally, want to congratulate all members and all staff members within Bumont USD for uh, what they do to support student achievement and the growth that we saw on the recent CASP results. Um, when looking at those compared to the county, it really does show uh, that we are working in the right direction. um and doing everything we can to support all learners within our classrooms. So, thank you very much. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. And 15.4 receive a report from

board member Dr. Lansen Sylvester. Good evening everyone. Uh Superintendent Kich, Madame President Williamson, fellow board members, cabinet. Uh it is indeed good to be back with you. My apologies for my absence uh the last couple of meetings that could not be avoided. Um for my report, I want to begin by I remember Superintendent Kish at the rally. She started by uh giving a report of her soontobe new grandbaby and we appreciated that. So I I want to share my good news in regards to uh my youngest daughter is in Italy right now as an exchange student and uh when she returns she'll be entering into Lomol Linda Nursing School. So uh just want to give that report uh myself and my family grateful for that. Um, not to not saying too much, I want to

thank Superintendent Kesh uh in a very special way and the board members and the cabinet for those who knew uh the situation I was in, I was hospitalized uh for three weeks and um that's all I'll say to that. And so I'm grateful to to be here to be with you. I count it a privilege and an honor to serve uh in this district. Um before I end, you know, we sit up here as board members and we have public comments made and we cannot comment or we do not comment. Um, but I want to say this, you know, my fellow board member Jeff said earlier, he's just putting it out in the ether. So, I'm putting it out in the ether. And to those who are listening via uh website or however they're listening

to this meeting, I've learned as an adult that we won't always agree, but there's a way to disagree and not be ad adversarial. We can disagree without being adversarial. I I believe every board member here works diligently and has the best interests of the district at heart and all the entities, committees, and institutions involved. Um, when we listen to public comments or when, let me speak for myself, when I listen to public comments that uh take on an adversarial note, I don't think it's beneficial for the district. Uh, let us find ways to find common ground. Let us find ways to uh work together. Uh we are not perfect. No entity is perfect and we strive to do better and improve uh the district. We are we are mandated and obligated by policies and state

laws and uh I think that needs to be understood. So I just wanted to share that listening to various comments tonight. Thank you. Thank you for those comments and welcome back. Thank you. Very happy to have you here. Okay. Receive a report from Board Member David Sanchez. It's going to be short. Um I want to truthfully say that Dr. Sylvester, you were missed. I'm welcome you back into our fold. uh there was always something something missing a little bit and uh it tonight we could uh we could close that chapter and move forward and I'm and I'm glad you made it and got to see your daughter here as well. One of them and your family support the stories that you had to tell us was uh was very uplifting and um no other comments

tonight. Just glad to see you back. Thank you. Thanks D. Okay, thank you David. Mhm. Okay. Receive a report from board member Jeff Brown. Thank you, Melissa. Um I want to echo what David said. Um welcome back Dr. Sylvester Lance. Um the uh um uh and and like you said, I I won't go into any of the details, but um it was a very trying experience for your family and I think all of the board. I think we um a lot of compassion and a lot of uh uh strong feelings and emotions. We we you were very much missed and we uh we appreciated um that um and again without too much detail that your wife really didn't didn't let you you know you guys had to wrestle the phone. Um but uh uh yeah

and I don't I don't mean this in a in a in a negative way. I mean this with with all sincerity. You know uh all of us will be missed when we step away for important things. But it's important that we know that we can step away four critical important things and that uh the other four people will take care of what needs to be taken care of. So um I appreciate my fellow board members but also Dr. Sylvester or Lance does. Thanks. I love it. Thank you Jeff. and receive a report from board member Susie Laura. Yes, I would just There it is. The light was on and it wasn't doing anything. Okay. So, um I I couldn't agree more with what's been said up here tonight. I Lance, I appreciate your comments um

about the public speakers tonight. Um I I appreciated that. But I also just want to say that um I almost feel a little emotional. I'm just really happy that you're back with us. And um it just is a lesson for all of us that life is um is short and life is fast and it's important to just go home, love your family, love your kids, give them a hug, and be grateful for all the things that you have because a lot of people don't have that. And you know, Lance, you've gone through a lot and it it just I'm just really happy that you're back. Really happy. So that's all. Yes. Okay. Yes. I I just I I h I want to say it as well. I've said it a few times, but it does

feel good to be whole again and to have you back, Lance. Um it we we have such a good thing going here and um you know I was thankful to be the recipient of that the last meeting and thank you Jeff for filling in for me. My son was in a car accident right before the board meeting last time and totaled his car and you know I just I there was no question about whether I or not I could just step away and take care of that and it left only three of them but you know um they made it work and Jeff is excellent at leading the meetings and um it's just really nice to have a district that has the right focus and feel to be on the receiving end of that and

also just to be a part of a group where you know that people care about you. And so um it's really nice to be whole up here again and uh and just to know that you have people in your corner that are thinking about you even outside of board meeting times and just a genuine concern for well-being and that makes what we do and really enjoyable. You know, when people ask me, "Hey, how are you how are you like being on the board?" And like, it's I love it. It's so fun. And I don't mean that as like a trivial comment. It's just that when you when you love what you do, it's it's a lot. It's very enjoyable. So, um I know somebody um I think somebody mentioned you meant Petra, you mentioned custodians

day, and I know that was earlier this month, but you know, I just fully believe that the custodians make the world go round. They they uh definitely contribute to the culture of a school and so uh thank you to all of our custodians and uh the red ribbon um cutting ceremonies uh were were just so so good. Um both facilities are beautiful. Um I do want to take a moment to thank it for the work done in those. Um, I didn't personally thank it and there's a lot of work that goes into all the beautiful Prometheium boards that were hung up, all of the the work that was done behind the scenes and I I feel like it goes unnoticed. So, Mike, it would mean a lot to me if you could let your team

know that they're very much appreciated and the work that they did there was seen and um so I would appreciate that. You're welcome. um a lot of good things. You know, the CASP um scores are just amazing and that just goes to show uh how what good our leadership is here and how well the goals are um trickled down to all the frontline staff as well. And that takes intention and it takes strategy and it takes very skilled um plans to go out. And so I'm I'm very proud to be a part of that. a little bitty part of it. If I can just be the cheerleader up here saying great job, we're proud of you, then that's what I'll do as as often as I can. And so, um, I really appreciate all of

you and it's good to see you here. And with that, um, I will call for a motion to adjourn this meeting. Moved by David, seconded by Lance. Call for a vote. And motion carries. Meeting adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
