One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Yeah. >> Thank you, Mr. Snder. So, welcome to all of our guests. It's good to see you here this evening. Um, it's been a long time coming since we've had smooth come here for a while, but things happen so quick. Too many too many active smart kids. Blew me away when I saw him. It's so nice to have you here tonight. I know you didn't get caught in the raintorm house. That's why we were a little bit late tomorrow. We had a night because we all we were all getting caught. Okay. So, I do apologize, but we're hearing it's about you tonight. That's all for the record. uh to the board. We have a lot of recognitions. A lot of things have happened
uh both with our middle school and high school robotics team. And uh we have a recognition. >> Okay. All right. She's here. Okay. So, we have a lot of exciting things that have happened. So, behind me is our school board has been called together. They're actually my boss and I'd like to introduce all of them to you so you know who they are and then um we'll go in the process. So uh let me do our actual schoolboard members first. We have Mrs. Donahghue, Mr. Crley, Miden, um Mrs. Snider, uh skip over, Mrs. Shaw, wait for me, Mrs. Lindsay, Miss Lindsay, and Mr. Wilson. They are board members. two board members who might not be here tonight. Um there are other individuals who who are here to see uh Mr. Kubak is our assistant superintendent
for operations. He'll tell you he runs the district if I just show up. So I just let you know that >> it uh in the middle there between uh uh Christian Matthew is our school attorney. She keeps me out of trouble getting that for 38 and 12 years. Okay. She turns and like what did you just say? >> You tried. >> Just said I try. >> You try to keep me under control. And the actual lady who does run the entire district behind the curtain sort of like but that she's my administrative assistant. I want to call her executives. She's the one that holds me. But these are such a nice night. What's that? Where's >> Hi Sarah. I get confused. Sarah Welsh is the one who does everything. She does all my writings, all
my publications. But I don't I do not use not very much aware. Mrs. Welsh. >> Yeah. And does Mrs. Welsh do not know and he does why abundance in a long time. But Mrs. spokesman's department. It's our coordinator of communications and public relations. But nice to have all of you here. I see the kids. That's what it's all about. I see parents. I see some other relatives. And so importantly, the three of our teachers turn up. All three teachers take good to see. Okay. So, it's always nice to see the teachers give up their time. They could be doing a lot of other things. Here they are. I always enjoy that. So, I want to start off in the recognition. What I'm going to do is I'm going to talk a little bit about each
group. Then I'm going to read the names off here and I'm going to apologize right now. I'm probably going to mess up last name. You would think with somebody has last names like me. I should not mess up anybody. I've been living good for years. Good for uh but I do apologize. So if I just call you by your first name because I don't want to embarrass you. Let me just call your first name. I hope you're the only one in the room. Right. and come up. If not, I'll go here. I'll try not to do the last but you should be very proud of the work because it's very exciting what has happened with both middle school robotics, high school robotics and then what has accomplished and here I'm going to tease you. I
can't believe you accomplish that under Mr. B. I like but you did. You did that strong kid that were there and before I go any further because sometimes I forget about our robotics teachers that we have. I want to recognize both of them. um that here who I remember playing this road trip came to me and we talked about robotics how many years ago as a course as a thing and here we are today making so um um his work and then um and then we also have um Betty um your work that you're doing and it's great greatly appreciate in addition to But Mr. the hard work that they do, but it's what this is. I'm going to call your name. You're going to come up. You have to shake my hand. Okay? And
then you're going to go and shake all these people's hands and be proud of what you accomplish. And then we're all done. You can stay for the meeting, which most people don't like to say. Do you hear him? You hear what he said, don't um but we do want to get your picture out there and we do want to showcase you because on my next trip wherever I want, wherever I go, who knows where I'm headed next, right? Because I just got back from Seattle two weeks ago recognition for the district. I want to take your pictures and stuff with me. So I brag to all these school districts that I'm visiting now saying see the good work we're doing because you and your teachers that are putting us on the map people say we're
we're just south of the city that's we're not that district down the street we're better we're better okay we're better so I want to start off with our middle school robotics team so This year, I'm going to sort of I apologize because I want them to hear too and over here. So, this year we had four Keystone Oaks Middle School robotics teams, four that competed at the VEX IQ Western Pennsylvania State Championships. This is the first time that all of the middle schools robotics teams qualified for the event in all the years. Um, they earned their spot by scoring high in driving and programming categories throughout the season and by ranking in the top 20 top 20 of more than 80 teams statewide. >> Pretty good. And at state championships, one team finished in the
top 10 out of the 40. That's good. >> Wow. and one team finished fourth in team driving and eighth in coding driving skills >> coding computer I know we're talking about in our our new curriculum our dormal skills and things we're doing you're all about so maybe I'll have Dr. barley for some of you that know, but maybe I'll help you talk with you because you're a true example of what those skills are. This is the best finish for a middle school team since the robotics club started. You didn't remember in 2022. Okay, the actual club, but we've been offering these courses. So, without without any further ado, let me grab these. >> Should be the last. >> It's the last one. And uh How are these middle school? Middle school. Thank you. Okay. So,
come on. Bailey Bailey here. >> Congratulations. >> Thank you. Great job. Congratulations. You don't GET great job. I should have known. I jinxed it. >> Thank you. Great job. ANTHONY, you are right. I was Congratulations. >> Thank you so much. Thank you. >> Thank you. dedication. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> And um so and then this is going to be for the qualifying for the next V5 robotics state championships for qualifying for students today. These are our secondary students. Anthony, we will start with you. Oh, I'm John because I I the high school robot. Uh this year we had one high school team representing the district at the Western Vet State Championship. They are the second team in school history to advance to the state competition following a successful season at the uh uh
Keystone tournament here. They finished first place after seven qualifying runs and finished in sixth place out of 48 teams at the skills challenge which combines one minute of driver control and one minute of autonomous operation at Woodland Hills. They play sports and received the innovate awards presented to teams whose engineering design process demonstrates creativity, effective documentation and a novel approach. That in itself and those words and stuff is unbelievable. And at the East Alagany tournament, they they secured a third place finish. Unbelievable. Also, the Keystone High School robotics club sponsor and technology education teacher, which I mentioned, Mr. Ostrich, was named the recipient of this year's teacher of the year award by Western PA VEX Robotics. And this is absolutely just a true testament to your dedication to the program and to the students. Thank
you so much. So today I'll start off with the name. You were ALSO >> CONGRATULATIONS. >> Good job. >> Thank you, >> Ariana. Thank you very much. >> How are you? >> Thank you. >> Hi. >> Mr. O. Did that cover everybody? >> Yeah. I have everybody. Okay. I just want to make sure. Okay. I don't like to miss anybody who did miss somebody that would be corrective. We'll bring you back to the next meeting. We give you a special one come back. Finally, um we are extremely proud. Remember, we're proud of all, but we had something happened for the first time here in the district. Um one of our students was selected as the winner of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. outstanding registered pre-apprentice achievement award. This is huge. This is huge.
Um the statewide honor recognizes students who have completed a registered pre-apprenticeship program and have demonstrated exceptional dedication, talent, and potential for future success. Kira participates in Catalyst Connections Industries manufacturing technician pre-apprentice program which a number of years see how many years has it been Mr. So a little over two >> and you and I had talked about that this catalyst connections and bringing in this is one of the things about our internships and and and doing for kids. So we are seeing the fruits of that right now under his leadership. Um Kira participated and she earned certifications as where she is now. Certifications in safety and quality practices, measurement models, process and production. She has one more module to complete to finish the program or have you completed it? Is it done? >> What's that?
>> No. >> It opened up. Oh, it just opened up. We'll have her back. She'll finish it by the end of the year. She'll finish it though. And her It's going to be done. Okay. I wasn't sure if it was open yet there. Carrie is also an active member of the science and robotics clubs. She participated in programs outside the district, including a summer math camp for girls at the University of Pittsburgh. Um, and completing hands-on robotics training at Community College of Alig County. Um, just like all these students here, we're going to read about these students someday. They're going to be right. You're going to be paying for my social security. I really appreciate it here. Congratulations, CHIEF. >> CONGRATULATIONS. So if I want to thank you and I really want to thank the
privilege I've been here very soon my 15th year and these three gentlemen years and years ago came to me we started talking about things that we did not even envision envision at that time and here we are and there's bigger and better things happening but my motto has always been college >> oh yeah >> yeah you're a lot YEAH. COME AROUND THIS WAY. YEAH. >> Best laugh, right? Yeah. >> But the parents who really send us some very talented and I'm glad that we have through our curriculum and through our programs has been able to start to offer more of it. And I said parents and students, you're responsible now when you leave your home with kids. They'll have to talk about what's going on so that this program can become bigger and that there
are a lot of opportunities and there are a lot of changes that are happening. Some of those changes have happened because of some of you as students. I don't want to particularly name anyone, but some of you know that you have met me over the years and said, "Dr. truck. Why don't we try this or did you think of this or we have this and we listen to tried to make this district that's what it's about. It's not a Bible in will you remember everything in social don't tell your teachers tomorrow morning I tell you you're not going to know all the content in social studies and all those but what you have done is you have earned skills and those skills you will need for the rest of you need skills today not going
to really care when the war 182 because nobody's going to care about that. Nobody really cares sometimes if you know something called love this one the quadratic equation or how do you use the chain rule that you learned in calculus DC and that's application nobody's going to really remember now unless no unless you want to go out for jeopardy and you want to do all that it's skills today it's skills it's personal and these programs do exactly that you are using skills fields. You are looking at new knowledge. Keep up the good work. And if you have any ideas for us, some of you have already filled out a survey for our new strategic plan coming up which I hope your teachers have asked that. Okay? It's about what do the students want and what
do you need? That's what's important. It's real skills for real life. Real skills for real life. That's what you're building. Okay? And that's what's important. Thank you so much for coming out. Thank you moms, dads, grand everybody for the great gift you sent us. Very much appreciated. You are more than welcome to stay for the rest of the meeting. I understand you're not allowed to leave until we get so thank you. Thank you to the school board. Oh, good. You're all going to stay for the meeting. I love it. >> No, you can stay. I'm >> They have to leave your picture. >> I know. They never few. >> Hey, thanks for that >> always is Now I'm gonna >> get back in if they want. >> Yeah, they should. >> Yeah. >> Any public
comment? No. >> Feel like they were all very happy. >> Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Okay. Great. >> Is there anybody on? >> No. >> Did Tom make it? No, >> no. >> When I logged in, he was not on the spot. >> That's fine. I was just >> Okay. Um Okay. So, next week, um we're gonna approve board minutes for March 10th and March 17th. Um and then we're also going to discuss PSBA delegate delegate appointments for PSBA. Um, Sunonny wanted me to let everyone know there is not a Shazer report. So, um, surprising. >> Yeah. >> Mrs. Shaw, do you have anything? >> No, I don't. >> Um, Mrs. Widen, >> I don't have anything this week, but the um the Harrisburg event coming up. >> Yeah. And I think you and
Sunonny both signed up. >> Yes, we did. >> Thank you. Yeah, it's on May 4th. Um, and funny is also finest. >> Um, any news from the bureau? I just share that the dormant friends of the pool are hosting a pub tour on April 26th. Just a nice jaunt around the dormant. Yes. >> Well, it goes into the 2, but you can do both if you we'll be coming out of the draft, so it's like a nice wrap up for the weekend. >> Do we expect that the draft is going to affect anything in the district? >> Um, uh, the only thing would be busing. Um, we don't think we'll have any sex, but we did hear that Matthews contracted um to provide some shuttles, but >> they wouldn't be in school buses for us
and we haven't heard anything. So, we should be fine around, >> but it could be driver. >> Yeah. So, I mean, that's where >> but yeah, they would be. So, we think we'll be fine. Um, we're not quite sure if that's actually true. They get somewhere earlier than that, >> but they would be obligated to meet our contract. >> Okay. So, So maybe just students who might have to go through the city or something to get to >> Yeah. out of >> Yeah. Yeah. Or or I could potentially see maybe some employees having a um >> Yeah, we could. So, but if you want to rent out your house, it's a great time. Put it out there. You can make some money. >> The parking space in front of my house >> takes too. That's
what I mean. It's out there. Everyone's >> correct. >> Um any other >> um we the Green Tree Farmers Market is looking for new vendors and they are open to um crafters as well as vendors. So you know that's out there if anyone was interested. >> What is it? The Green Tree. >> The farmers market. >> Okay. It's Thursday evenings I think from 4 to 7 or 4:30 to 7 >> at starts in May. >> Um we did meet in executive session to discuss contracts and personnel. >> Um superintendent. >> Thank you Mrs. Snider. So a couple items for next week for voting. Um we do have last vote to approve we have a former former former school district who is coming back to join us in project succeed for the rest of this year
and then they will be renewed for next year and that's the Montour School District used to be with us while ago dropped out they are coming back so we're bringing them back. So they do have some students in our program right now are finishing up and they will continue with us. So they will be part of the consortium next full year. Is that right? >> Uh 12 12 or 13. We might be a little bit. Yeah. 12 or 13. So we are growing. We're growing at a pace that we're able to keep up with. So it's growing and we're going slow, but it we're we're getting there. >> Yeah. What what's the past year? If you're saying we're growing, what were we >> uh Well, we dropped for a while. >> Okay. >> As far
as numbers go as far as >> like districts and students. >> Yeah. And now we're picking back up. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Words out about the um words out that we've revamped. >> Cool. >> Yeah. Um I do have listed there. I was surprised it was under me, but I guess it always goes under. I know. These are the board meetings for next next year. They follow the pattern just like you have this year. The sec the second and third Tuesdays. So yeah. So approve those for next month. Oh, and that's it. That's all. That's all. That concludes three reports. >> Thank you. >> Oh, do you mind if I share one thing? No, >> I'll just share with the whole board. Um, I received from the uh superintendent of the Fox Chapel Area
School District a um they adopted last week a resolution. Uh I'm going to hand it to um Mrs. Snder, but full disclosure, I want to hit her Snider. Um they are asking their school board is asking other school boards if they would be interested and it's just passing a resolution um urging Alageney County Council to mandate and implement a system of regular periodic and property tax reassessment. It's obviously something you would have to talk about but they're pushing this out in the super. So I said that I would give it at a board meeting to our board president. I will let Emily take a look at it and at some point the board can you know talk. But that's the resolution that that they pass. You can look at it, share it with the whole
board and you know whatever. But I just wanted to pass pass that along. >> I think they're likely to pass it regardless of resolution. >> I think so too, but you know you know that that's the benefits that it has or doesn't have for the So if you'll take a look at that too, but that did come from Fox Chapel. You have >> what's have an email? >> I do and I can send that to everybody. You know, if they have it, I'll I'll just give a cap this week. Remind me, we'll just dump that. But I just wanted to share it as a public meeting because it's really from their school board to you. They're just using me as the conduit. So passing it on to the school board. Okay. That concludes their report.
>> Okay. Thank you. Um policy, Mrs. Shaw, second policies. No new policies on this agenda. Other final questions. Um next week for communications we have one item and that is um the um photography and social media contract or agreement with um Dylan Kickler Visuals. And um just to note that um Mrs. Welsh met with Dylan to discuss some recommendations um for the for next year's contract including um just I think some more just to cover a little bit more as far as um getting some shots at throughout the season as far as um as opposed to just at the end. Right. Yeah. Um and um yeah and that's the amount listed there and I assume it's an increase if they're doing more. It's It is an increased by about It's about >> It was all
It was like $6,750 about >> still incredibly reasonable for >> Yeah. We didn't have a job. >> It just I think there's a lot more. >> Yeah. And so it's And I think um specifically for media day I think are where >> Yes. This year media day was seniors only. So next year it will be for all of the all freshman seniors all of the athletes on the team. All right. Um personnel to start. >> Yeah. This is just an agreement with an affiliation agreement we have to do um with universities periodically and this is with Carlo University School of Education social work and this is just for the uh this is my own this is just for the placement of they don't call them student teachers in social work but it's just the >>
education yeah >> it's like a practicum it's for but they have to have the agreement on file so we we this is just the updated agreement that it's on file that's Yeah. >> So they can send their students. Yeah. We have to say, "Yeah, well, we we'll take them." But they need it for their phones, you know, because higher ed has to report this to the Department of Education and have a record. So that's >> right. Personnel is still on hand. >> Thank you. Um next week we will be voting on um three resignations. Um we have a few appointments um for food service and activity sponsor. Um everything's coming in twos. Uh we have two sbatical leaves. Um and also oh only one family and medical leave to um approve and we have or
will be posting for the to backfill all three of those resignation positions. >> They have already been announced. >> Thank you. So maybe next week it'll be two whole pages instead of one page plus a little bit. And that's all I have. Okay. >> Thank you. uh finance, Miss Lindsay. Um we will be approving the accounts payable approval list. Um no big changes in that area, Joe, since last month. Nothing that stands out. And um approving a 60-month agreement with the Wilson Group um the lease agreement for the copers and printers. Um a slight there's going to be a slight increase. Correct. Per month. >> Yeah. So, it'll be about $500 per month. Um, but with that being said, we are getting all new equipment. Um, and they have put in this new contract that
anytime um we feel useful equipment get things updated new equipment at no cost. So, um we've looked at other um places other things and you know, we've had a great relationship with Wilson Group. We haven't had issues. Um the price is very fair. So they did come to us to try to get an early agreement. We felt for the additional $500 get added that it's value we could have seen elsewhere. So recommended >> that includes you bas. >> Yes. Correct. Yes sir. >> That's for all the schools in the district. >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> Ink and everything. >> Yeah. >> So if you go over um what is in the contract, you would have to pay for overage. We typically don't experience that with this company. Um in the past we've had other companies
we did have that more often. Um the most you'll see is um if we go over for uh Keller copies um sometimes teachers may do something where you have to pay a little additional but um typically monthtomonth you just see the um 800 8,000 >> and based upon the our history over the last four years working with them they have adjusted some of our overage numbers. >> They did that in this contract too. >> In this contract they're higher. >> They did an evaluation of they did an evaluation. So they actually they they actually increased the right. >> Yeah. So um you know myself and uh Joe and uh Aaron Smith all reviewed everything with them and the whole package and met with them and over everything. So this is a very time offer. >>
Um >> and is that just one year? Oh, 60 months. Okay. >> So they'll buy out the last year of the contract currently. um pay for it. Um because we current contract this and that's all >> um pick anybody. >> Oh yeah. Um I was want to volunteer for activities. >> I'll volunteer. >> Um I can't do a Mr. little poor voice, but we are um take uh going to make the motion to approve the athletic bids for winter and spring as listed there. Uh the wrestling mat um as listed there and we're trying to get those in before wrestling starts. Correct. And then uh the competitive event for the SPLA leadership conference that is happening right now. >> How many students do we have? >> One. >> Wait, there it is sponsored? No. Okay.
>> So, there was more than 12 kids that went when this was when it was originally approved. They weren't sure if all the kids were going to go and then they did. So then since there was more than 12, we needed an additional sponsor to go with Mr. Mazize who is the current activity sponsor. >> Okay. Okay. >> So Mr. McCreary who is one of our social science teachers here is there. >> Okay. Be nice to hear how they did. >> Absolutely. >> Not a good program. >> They do. Yeah. >> Yeah. Not a great project. >> Yeah. They seem to be on them, but it's not a great program. >> Yeah. Uh, and that is all of the Mr. Leaport reports. >> Um, I just wanted to make a comment. I saw that KO
was supposed to host the singles and doubles 2A championships, but they both got rained out. Were they able to have those again? I think they were supposed to be April 1st and 2nd and they got rained out. Did they ever reschedu them here? I just think it was a great way to showcase our new >> tomorrow. Yeah, I think it's tomorrow. >> Tomorrow, April 15th. >> Yeah, tomorrow. It's tomorrow. It's tomorrow. Might get rained out again at 9 a.m. It is tomorrow. Tomorrow coming in clutch. >> Okay. >> Yeah. What's that? >> Calendar coming in clutch right now. >> Oh, it's it's Yeah. Yeah. >> The only thing I do want to add, um, I did open up the bids today for our security camera project. Um, I had eight biders. Um, some of them
had multiple options, too. So, I'm evaluating them. Um, I may have uh someone the lowest responsive bidder, um, for next week. Um, it just depends on after I evaluate, we had criteria, have to make sure they met all that. Um, but, you know, I just got them this afternoon, so I started working on that. So, I may have that for the board to vote on next week. Um, if I feel like it's too rushed and I have questions for companies, then we'll just do that. So, Thank you. >> And that's for the um >> high school middle school all the cameras for >> the PCCD grants, >> right? Where that's called for the state grant that we got. >> All right. The end of the >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. High School Musical starts on
Thursday. Mama Mia, great music. >> Excellent stage crew. >> Yeah. I wonder who's in it. I was going to say uh but no, if you can get there, the music is great. You have to be familiar with the album. >> Yeah. >> Not let me go into it because my daughter did have a lead a number of years ago where they went he listened to music on the whole plane ride. >> Joe remembers that I did. >> I listen to music from here to be ashamed of >> all the way across here. >> Yeah. I listened to a couple times because if I did not know I don't live in the same row anymore. >> Yeah, we're not on the same row. I was hollering at him. Apparently, he could hear it. >> So now
we do not sit in the same row on the planes anymore. >> Okay. Apparently he complained about me. I guess it was too loud. So now I sit in the alley queen over. >> That's the worst part is that it's a little bit of a booty like shaking kind of music. >> I don't know if any of you have seen the musical. I don't know if any of you have seen the musical, >> but my daughter had to lead him in the height. >> And to understand that, I had to listen to that all the way to stand. And he said to me, you don't pay attention. >> He wasn't paying attention cuz he called her and she said to me, she goes, "Are you listening to your music? It was too loud. Who complained
about it? Who's with >> it?" Mother at home, mother. Um, do we have any public comment or would you like to comment on ABBA and >> tell you it's your opportunity? >> Yeah, you >> No problem. >> Yeah, >> saying um so then >> I will do I have to make a motion to adjourn. >> I will make a motion to adjourn. >> Second. >> Great. >> All right. >> Meeting adjourned. Okay.
