001States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right. Opening it for public comments. >> Any comments from the public? Okay. Okay. So, um for next week, we are going to have um approval of board minutes. Uh and then we're also going to have a voluntary placement agreement and the details uh were in castles. Um info only parkway. Yes, I'll go ahead and talk about parkway tonight because I might not I will next week. Um >> um first off, I wanted to say that uh we have the director's list of honor students for the second quarter and there was 25 students on that list. >> Wow, great. >> So, congratulations. I think it was and Dr. Stra's council capsule um
002the list of students. So, congratulations to them. Um and I was very happy that we have a student of the month. >> So uh the Parkway um AM student of the month is Aurora White and she's in the HBAR program. Uh she does uh looks like she's in Skills USA, National Technical Honor Society, uh poetry club and knitting club. I'm not sure if all that is wow >> here or and then currently she works at the Olive Garden and after high school she plans to join the theme local union 449. >> Nice. My brother's >> so um busy. >> Yeah, very nice. just for her going into, you know, >> that can be challenging for uh >> the females. Yeah, she's doing a great job. >> Oh, that's great. >> Oh, I like your hat.
003That's good. >> Um and then just lastly, I wanted to mention that we will have well for next uh there is a motion on the agenda for uh the Parkway West uh budget. So, if anyone has any questions, you can just can ask at that uh point. Anyone want to take any questions? And um great thank you Shaza. >> Uh good evening everybody. Um unfortunat I don't have a report for Shazda, but I do want to make a report. Um we lost uh last week we lost uh Joe Bonucci. Uh he passed away last week. He was uh he was in charge of project succeed. I think he got he started project succeed. He was here for he was a counselor also. He was part of KO as a counselor and project succeed. If you
004know you know about project succeed, he uh he did so many uh amazing things with the students. He graduated over 4,000 kids not from just Keystone Oaks but in uh in you know in the in the Alageney County and uh he'll be missed. Um Joel uh he was very uh he was he was he was a good guy. I he got me uh he got me started in education uh maybe an advocate. He got me my high school diploma on Project Succeed. So I owe him a lot and it was a shame to see him go. Um so uh keep in your prayers and thoughts of his family. He'll be missed. And um he did something uh was really cool was he got he got grant money from the Greyel Foundation. And you remember you
005you heard the Greyville Foundation, their big uh their uh big organization and they um they usually give grants once a year or maybe one time to somebody. He got money every year. So that's that's amazing. He got rewarded every year. They gave money to him. So he really worked hard and I hope he missed. I just wanted to mention that that's that's all I have. >> Thanks Donnie. the next trivia. >> Um PSBA um PSBA I just have um the advocacy day is coming up in May um May 4th and that's um where you go to the capital and speak to legislators and um you know try to sway sway them towards uh the what PSBA is pushing um person or personal agenda. PSA will give you talking points. Um the only thing is uh
006travel is on your own. So if anyone was interested and you know maybe want to carpool um you know we could talk about that too. >> I'm interested in going and I was actually we're actually going to be in that area anyway. So okay >> I think you need to register on the PSBA site. Yeah. >> Okay. Forum >> when is it again? I'm sorry. May the fourth be with you. Star Wars, >> right? That's what I thought. Yeah. May the fourth >> and I like to celebrate singing de Maya as well. I don't want to be driving that day. But um and then there, you know, a couple bills floating around regarding updating the uh requirement for print advertising. We'll see what happens from that. Nothing final yet. What about the governor saying he
007wants to push through the phone? >> Has anybody heard you think that they have no cell phone? >> Yeah. Yeah, >> that bill has bipartisan support. It's moving kind of quickly. >> Yeah, that's >> moving quickly. Has a lot of support. Um the downside in my opinion just is that I think that allows the school district to make the decision. >> That's my my thing too is that it's a little overreaching, right? >> Yeah. should be on the state level, right? >> Well, it should be at schoolboard level, which it is currently >> not devastating, but yeah, I just don't I don't think it should be at the state level either. >> I mean, at least if the state passes it, then it it is out of our hands and you know, you got to
008you got to do what you got to do, right? >> But yeah. Okay. Um question um news from the burrow. >> I just I just wanted to mention that I mean at two weeks from today uh there's a special election for the burrow of sto and includes stomont and capital Shannon um in our district. So just reminding everyone to um >> is that for Dan's position? Yes, it would be to fill Dan Miller's position. And I'm not even going to name the candidate who's just gonna say that there's an election. And um you know, special elections are even less usually less people vote in them than primaries. So, you know, please exercise your rights. And if there's any students maybe that are turning recently turned 18, you make sure you're registered to vote because you
009got to you can vote in two weeks. And um >> special elections make a difference. >> Get up get out of those >> and those elementary schools will be on remote learning those days because of that. Yeah. >> I just saying that some of the people who have children elementary may already know because I think Dr. Stra sent out an email but just for the general >> thank you. Um I'd like to just shout out all three bureaus for the work they did um with the snow. You know, I know that I know that I've complained about Dormmont, but we have to realize it's not the workers, right? Like it's it's bigger than just the workers. It was a lot of snow. Castle Shannon, I was not in Green Tree. I'm sorry. I'm sure that
010it was impeccable though. Castle Shannon compared to Dormmont was amazing, but still, you know, Dormmont did a great job given what they had. And then they brought in extra people um extra companies to help move away a lot of snow. So, and the district also was very helpful in um >> having a place to put the snow. >> Yeah. So, >> so kudos to the to the burrows for all of the hard work that they had to put into that. Hope >> Dormmont's a whole special because they have off streetet parking and it makes it very hard. >> We hear other burrows how good a job they do, but when you have off on street parking >> and narrow roads to begin with, a lot of chairs off there. >> A lot of chairs. Thank
011you for our own ground crew here also because we have to get schools necessarily ready those days. You don't you know at KO I don't believe that we have you know a bunch of plow you know the amount of equipment we have much less I don't know helped out a little there but I know the >> I'm glad that you mentioned that because I too went and when I was driving through one day like wow this paint did a really nice job so I also would like to throw some kudos to the maintenance men here >> thank you >> six more weeks of winter Yeah. Yes, that is new. Um, we did not need an executive session. Um, moving into the superintendent report. Um, do you want me to take that? Do you want to
012>> Oh, I can still have a >> You can read it. You can be in the audience. >> Sure. Okay. Um, so we have the adoption of the 20 27th school year calendar. Always exciting and we have a professional development event as well. >> Great. Thank you. Uh policy Sean >> uh we have a a number of policies. Uh the first two items are noted for first and second because it's just a matter of updating um the the num the fitting requirements. the state provides those numbers, we just update them. So there's no wording changes there. So that's why it's first and second reading. The rest of the policies are all for first reading. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out. >> Sure. Um, education wise, we'll have the adoption of the
013textbook that we had last month, the introductory statistics to e um that is a um digital content and there's no cost to the district. That's great. >> Can we go back to the uh policy report? >> Yeah. So I just had a question. What uh what are the ramifications with the policy 871 superseding the 420 and the 320? >> Oh >> why why were those changes made? So, um, so the short of it is, okay, Keystone Oaks is still under a version of the policies where 300 level was administrative, 400 was professional employees, which like your teachers, and 500 was like custodial maintenance staff. So, basically now PSDA put everything in 300. So we're we're basically we're trying to mesh all of there's basically a policy like an an identical policy in every 300 400
014500 but they're the wording in them is almost usually identical. >> So basically we're merging them into the 800 level operations >> and then if I can ever get through it we're going to move them all back to 300. So I hope that so basically it's superseding it. is saying it's just we're gonna we're gonna strike the existing 300 and 400 level policy and everyone's going to be under the 800 level policy. >> Okay. >> And then in maybe like a year and a half from now we'll eventually be aligned again. Does that start I was that coming? >> No, that's fine because I was just reading it like they're slightly worded differently and I was just wondering if there's a reason why like it's it read more to me like the original policies were
015more restrictive where the new one is less so >> as where it it kind of it kind of removes some of the the harshness of it I guess. >> Yeah. But I don't I just wanted to know if there were reviews like if it changes the relationship versus like what teachers can say versus what the school could consider to be harmful to the school or not that I'm not looking to restrict teachers or anybody's speech. But I was just wondering legally does that change any of the any any the relationship between the parties because it >> Sorry, go ahead. I was gonna say I don't believe that it does like the original the two policies we're talking about were uh wording that was from 2001. So we're just bringing it up to I think TF
016might have published this wording update in like in like 2014 or 2016. So it's not like anything novel. It's just updated wording. um like I don't >> there really hasn't been any legal changes to the content of the area law since tinker which is probably you know well before any of these policies were established. So the law hasn't changed on that curtailment of speech by the district employee. Um there's a balancing test that you have to go to that's driven by case law regardless of your policy. the law actually superseded your policy earlier. >> Okay. I was just >> asking questions. That's all. >> I did have with the so loud I couldn't hear. >> I know. >> Better now. >> Yeah. >> I don't actually have any other question. Thank you in here. It
017was a whole thing. >> What is it? >> Something with the speakers that was prior to our current IT team's time here. So, we're not sure. >> Okay, that's better. >> Did you have another question? >> Just call me right now. No, I did. I was originally reading I guess I guess I could ask with the purchase agreements. It looked like it changed it from now I don't know the legal ease so I'm just reading I could be an idiot >> but um it looked like it changed it from being approvals prior to a purchase versus more reviews after. I don't know if that makes sense. It didn't change anything policy 611. >> Yes. >> Because I don't think we had any wording changes. >> 610 is the quotation one. >> Okay. I don't have
018any other questions then. >> Yeah. We said how fast the meeting is. Um I think it was just >> but the all the purchasing stuff is very much like language straight for the school code. So if you have any questions on that >> um you can we can chat after the meeting and you can kind of >> Yeah. >> I think the 611 just talks about that if there's things are it's kind of like things are already in the budget like we don't have to vote on every item. Maybe that's what >> Oh you know I did have one other question and this is more just a general change in the policy on 914. It changes the, if I understood it, it's changing the board from being required to review the agreement to being more
019optional. Is that correct? Um it's a well I don't think there was any kind of um this is all new language. So there's nothing there was nothing in here. So this is like referring to when we do um what do what is what do we call it the AIU program of services agreement. >> Yes. >> When when do we usually vote on that? I don't know Chris was here. Well, on the top part, I think it said it used to be annually, but it changed it to Am I looking at correctly? If you go back up to the top >> top of what >> or go to the bottom the where the where it's deleted from >> there. >> Oh, yeah. We we actually do review it annually. We do it in the program of
020services which we pretty much vote on. >> I think it's in like April or >> so they remove this. Instead of the board will annually review, they change it to periodically review. So my question was, is there a reason why it went from because periodically could be every couple years, it could be every three years. And my only thought was, is there a reason why it would go from being mandatory every year to being optional? And only because if things become optional, then all of a sudden, unless you have a strong governance culture, it's not going to be a problem. But as the board changes and shifts and as administration changes that can put it up to it could be missed because it's not required and people could start skipping it over. So I'm just
021wondering what that change >> if that been thought about. >> I I think the reason is um a lot of so that is not required. I don't believe there's a requirement in the school code. So a lot of times there's not a requirement. PSBA doesn't write in um specifics about basically they don't want to put too much like onus on the board when there are so many requirements. So a lot of things will just say like it will be reviewed for because there's so many things that have to be annually reviewed. So, I think they just use that language as a matter of saying it it's not something that's necessary under code. Um, but we do as a board vote on the program services budget at the AIU um every year and it may be
022different for different IUs across the state. So like they may have it totally but I can tell you here for AIU3 we do vote on that program of services which basically is we're we're voting on what's being offered but then we don't always use everything that's being offered. >> It would be better for Dr. Stky. >> You're correct and Dr. Barley can correct me if I'm wrong. It's just all the services that they do offer but we're not obligated to use any of them. everything that's available. >> Everything that's available to any district student >> and I and I think that we always get something that's a little more succinct about that so that we can all individually review the program of services. So I think that happens every year anyway. Am I right? >>
023So you're looking at it anyway. I mean >> so I mean I think it's a language change but we get the opportunity to see it every year anyway. >> It usually changes year to year. basically can't not use the like vote on the AIU, right? Like we're part of that. >> You could, but you legislative consortium pricing, >> right? >> And you have to be able to leave that there has to be a vote of the IU boards while you >> Right. Yeah. >> And I know Dr. Strak provides what is offered in a capital report so that the board can review it. >> But I think what you're asking is we were reviewing it anyways. Why are you changing the language? sort of. Yeah. I mean, is there a reason why it goes from
024being required to being optional or period or that definition of how often frequently it gets required? >> Look, I think a lot of the >> the PSBA language has to Annie's point has moved to like is moving to giving boards more control over what what and when they want to do. some of these >> a little more broad >> just giving some more flexibility the board as far as when some of these things >> like I I feel like that's kind of like a >> knowing that we do it yearly >> periodically would be okay but I think what is that as the board >> or you know the superintendent or whatever things change that might actually become pure periodic more periodic than the annual that we see right now. And I see the word
025periodically as more often. >> I that's when he said two or three years. I was like, "Oh, I thought it would be a couple times." >> That's the way I interpret it. Period. If I check something periodically, it's going to be more often than once a year. That's just my interpretation. >> Yeah. No, I just So that's what I mean. It's interpretable, but annually is very specific. So we went from Yeah. a specific target to a very broad to basically a variable. >> Yeah. Right. >> So >> those questions I'm done. >> No, the questions are good. In relation to this specific policy, Bill did share during the policy committee that he would certainly encourage anybody from the board who was interested in running for the AIU board to make a serious consideration for that.
026>> It means from time to time or occasionally. I think he said that we had anyone on Yeah, I think we haven't we haven't ever had anyone on the >> AIOU board. Anyone's interested. >> Is the pay as good as it is with >> Yeah, you actually get a raise. Um >> double double sometimes instead of cookies. >> You get to drive you get to drive to the waterfront. >> Yeah, >> you're closer to a Costco. tell us that means there though. So >> um okay Mrs. Um, we will be um or I will be making a motion to approve some appointments, a food service employee, um day-to-day substitute, some activity sponsors, and um even more activity sponsors. I'm guessing that four is because Wait, why is three and four different? >> Yeah, why is
027four separate? Oh, one's 2627. Okay, >> got that. Um and then we will um be uh approving the motion tied to the KOEA collective bargaining agreement for um teacher site stipens for class sizes of 30 or above 24 or above and teachers uh elementary special ed teachers who have more than one course during the same period. Now, this seems like we're creeping up again. We've been keeping that number pretty low and this is a larger number than I've seen for which just for in general the teaching load compensation. >> Um, so the elementary one I can speak to is more cost effective than having another teacher. >> Okay. um to to use these things that to hire another teacher over 24. >> Okay. But still it's able to effectively >> serve the students needs. Correct.
028>> Uh because these are higher grade. Yes. >> Okay. >> This is all second and above. >> I am concerned about the special ed though. >> More than one course during the same period. >> Those are all resource courses. So it's hard to help that. >> Okay. >> So you might be doing math and ELA. >> Math on Zoom. >> You have a fifth grade student and a fourth grade student. >> You have, you know, a third grade student with a second grade student for math. >> These are sizes. >> These are smaller class sizes. So >> the spectification >> Yes. Oh yeah. Um the ones that I first like from my other job and checking they were there was like three in a room. >> Yeah. >> But it's just hard to again you're
029either having four teachers or it was the the elementary teacher type. almost all of them for an Aken and it was we don't have any classrooms. So >> yeah, yeah, my concern wasn't for um the the cost so much as for the student need. >> How um how big are the classes over 24? Are is this like a thousand dollars a student or is this >> No, these were um the ones at least that I signed on, they weren't exactly 24 >> and that was decision that had to be made one student that put us over 24 in second grade. He he started in mid September. So, you know, >> so are they prrated for the amount of time the teacher? >> It's $1,000 for the whole semester >> based on how many classes. So,
030as you see, some teachers get 2,000 verse 1,000 because they had two classes instead of just the one. And then for all the special education, they did have to provide all the buildings, but they had to provide rosters and which classes were being taught during that specific time. And then Dr. Champ and Mr. Thank you for the additional information. >> Yes. Thank you. And um that ends my report. >> Thank you. You are welcome. >> Uh finance. Well, we didn't have a finance committee meeting as everybody knows when everything was um was cancelled, but there's a couple action items. Um the accounts payable approval list. Um of course, we're going to have and then the Parkway West um budget, which Annie had referenced before. I'm just Yeah, I was just reading it because it it
031showed a slight Yeah, it just showed a slight it well an increase from the 2526 school year. Um and then our aortion share would be $2,474. >> A slight increase of the parkway budget. Yes. >> Yeah. The um the general operating budget is 2.88%. 88% and then the junior budget is 5.37 then the um exact amounts are listed as for information only and then all the for information only is attached as always >> our next finance committee meeting I think will be the the last Tuesday of February um >> 24th 24th That's okay. It's 6:30 I believe. >> Thank you. Okay, that's that's all for >> Great. Thank you. >> Okay. Building grounds, transportation. >> Good evening. I want to add to uh Ryan's um the 24th will be meeting also buildings and grounds. We'll
032be piggybacking that meeting that evening. Um like she said, we didn't meet also. So, we'll have a lot to talk about, but uh let me get to the meat and potatoes of this. Um okay, we're next. We have two requested, uh motions to be made next week, uh with a a vendor for the uh playground equipment at Aken and Myrtle. I mean Aken and Dormmont. Uh particular vendor is Snider Recreation. Uh we'll be uh voting on this. Uh this is a co-star uh quote. The difference between the first and the second is $20,000. Uh the Aken property, the work is more intense. There's going to be more work to be done. That's why it's a little bit more. Um, if you looked at your capsule, you'll see if you looked at your capsule, there was
033a um two uh I believe two examples of the the propert playground that uh Snider is going to present. I don't know if we vote on that which one we like. I have to talk to Mr. Kubak and doctor about that. >> I think it's already had the items that were I think they already mentioned. >> Okay. I wasn't sure because I don't know if the board made that decision or >> No, it the kids did. >> The kids did. >> They chose the design that >> Yeah. >> You know, the kids like >> there was two of them. Um so that'll be next week and uh that's a playground and um dorm. >> How how does that compare with um just what's in the budget for these particular well question for >> Yeah, this
034this is all I believe this is part of the bond. >> I think it is. >> I don't know if this >> I don't think >> No, I think this is different budgeted on >> the general fund >> capital. >> This was already planned before. >> Yeah, this was planned >> the window the window project. That's why I was wondering where we >> All right, Annie. >> We were never I don't think the playgrounds were ever estimated. >> So, yeah, because I I just don't remember a number and so that's why I was >> I can ask them for clarification um and send it out to the board from >> Thank you. Was there a mention on on like I know there's like um you know shipping can be like variable. Was there a conversation
035or on when >> Well, I I I don't know about the playground equipment, but I did know that the windows must be ordered and one window is going to take longer than the other window. And um we need to know when we can we want to start these projects in the spring and the summer, especially the windows. Uh the playground, not necessarily. We'd like to do that in good weather when when the kids are in school. So have to see how the vendor is and how they perform. >> Yeah. I thought the plan was to try to start at the end of the school year and do most of the work over the summer. Yeah, that's what I thought. >> We don't want to interfere with the the the school. I can't remember. >> I
036can find out that from your security. >> Thank you. >> I hope there was an opportunity for the PFOS to chime in as the search was happening for the the playgrounds. Do we know if the PFOs have had a chance to see these mockups of what's being >> No, I think question. So with the Aken PFO, they were going to come to the meeting that was cancelled >> and then the student election kind of took over what was going to be picked in the playground, but I don't think they've actually seen the designs or the options PFO has >> like is this public? Are the designs public? >> Public thing that maybe you could bring up to Dr. drop as well as that maybe that they should be shared with the PFO since they were
037supposed to be pulled in. >> They were told >> either way I mean if the kids the kids had a a good I mean they didn't choose everything but >> I mean the way that I read that >> the kids got a chance to have some options and right that's all I really care about. >> That's the important part but at least inform Yeah. >> the PFOS. >> The way I read it was that the kids were part of the like brainstorming what you want. Yeah, >> like if we're just now seeing this, I don't know whether know an opportunity for the kids to actually see these >> drawings. Mr. Warner from put together a Google presentation and it was sent to people. >> Okay. >> And then it showed the kids and that's how
038they selected. >> Got it. So they saw the actual pictures. >> Yes. They saw pieces of equipment, not necessarily the big pictures. Right. Well, completely the display that you have, but that's not that problem. >> And the the younger ones, they kind of the teachers led the discussion a little bit more so they could understand what they were looking at and then the older kids. >> But we're we're voting to approve the final layout everything next week then. >> Yeah. >> Like there's no vendor after that. >> Yeah. >> Okay. It would have been nice that we could all review that at the buildings and grounds though, but we didn't have that. So, it's kind of a little bit We want to get this started. >> My only question is, and I don't know how
039you know until it's in there, but like Dormon equipment was like way too far off the ground for the age of kids that were playing on the playground. What if that happens this time that we go in and we're like, this is not, you know, age appropriate or it's too big or it's too small. >> What do we do about that? >> Well, they actually showed the height. >> Oh, they did the diagram. >> All right, good. It has all the specs for every piece of equipment. >> Yeah, they do have the specs >> and we did for every company too in the capsule this past week. So, if you wanted to compare it to the other two quotes, >> we provided everything to the board that they had given to administration. There's a lot
040of attachments. If you have issues opening them, please just email me because they were not very user friendly on Friday. Now remember, uh, this is not Myrtle. This is not Myrtle. My Myrtle Myrtle is, uh, that's down the road. They do have a playground, but that that's down the road. We have to look into that study a little bit more to put that playground together because we might be redeveloping the rear of Myrtle Avenue for um, buses and fields and stuff. So, >> no point putting a playground in that we'll have to >> Yeah, that we have to Yeah, that would destroy and rip out. So we want to get a lot aching this aching we definitely definitely >> a lot of a lot of uh work there especially with the mulch. >> Yeah. And
041it's a lot it's a bigger area too. Yeah. There's going to be I'm surprised by the >> Yeah. Also don't remember when we went through our walk through there was a lot of asphalt that has to be um >> fixed and repaired and >> redesigned. Yeah. >> Yeah. the the mulch was there was just more mulch piled on the last time it was done and it's been >> a good 25 years since that equipment was updated. >> Yeah. The the the crew said if they drove what our vehicles in there it would have got stuck to the axle. >> Oh, it was very deep. >> So to answer your question I'm seeing here uh what we have in the capsule or what was provided to you I don't get to see this so I apologize.
042Took me a second to figure this out. So it looks like we hired Burke design firm to create the scope of work in the Burke and then the actual equipment go and all of that should be in the work at scope and design created by them and then that's bit out to these various companies and it looks like Schneider was the lowest and their quotes are provided in that but I think if you we have a concern about height and stuff it would need to be in the scope of work and the design spec already created and bid Oh, so that's where we would want to look. >> Okay. >> Yeah, both projects over a half a million dollars. Very uh very costly, but it's well worth it. >> But do you know that if
043we make changes that will require rebidding, >> rebidding or if they're minor change for something, it depends. But >> I have a question. I don't know. the PFO from Green Tree. Do are they uh are they contributing any money at this? >> I don't believe that's the PFO that's contributing at this time. They are not. >> we had talked Oh, sorry. >> So, the PFO's understanding is that the deal with when they the burrow bought the property from Inken, that money was supposed to be dedicated to the playground. That's what the PFO has told me >> that that money went into basically they view it all together the repairs of the building as well as that whether that's accountingly what happened or not that is the perception of what they're >> that money was actually
044very minimal. I think it was only about $80,000 and it's basically spent on other it was spent on other capital items that >> but it was dedicated to >> it was but it was spent so it was spent on capital items in >> same with Dormmont. >> Dormmont didn't this didn't apply. >> Okay. >> Um but yes there was a some amount of money for the sale of land. It wasn't very much. I think people think it was a lot more than it was. Um, >> but in fact, it's just it was meant for capital project, which it went to, and >> I actually think it's probably all been spent by now. But >> it's been spent. Joe, I asked Joe about it. >> Yeah. >> So, but just as putting it out there, that's
045how the PFO sees it and that's how >> they're very interested in this being done because they've been pushing for the years of course and there's a lot of unhappy people that took so long. out. >> So I think for dormant at one time PFO was collecting money to build >> the >> to build this. So they've taken money from people build this. Have they given that money over or what is going on with that? So when I talk I talked to Bill about that a couple months ago and he said that that he essentially that that the playgrounds were something that he wanted the district to fund and that they should save that money for something else. Um but I don't know where he is on that now. But that's again it was not
046like a lot. I mean, I I remember that conversation that he didn't want to take the money because he wanted it to be an even >> Yeah. He didn't want to have Dormmont have to fund >> something that that you know the other burrows. So, >> yeah. Years ago, the PFO did have to fund a lot of that, right? Because that the one the one that went in 25 years ago at Aken, >> I I know the PFO did raise about half the funds for that playground. Um, and then paid the other half. >> Back when there was a lot more corporate grant money going around, too. >> Yeah. I don't know how much was grant, but we did get some grant, but um, you know, there was a awful lot of fundraising that happened
047back then. >> Well, that's the end of my >> But that was a battle to get the playground, too. So, >> I'm a little bit confused on the Dorma playground why the main play structure is tucked so far back into the corner in comparison to the Aken play. Like the main play structure is like in the center, but the Dormmont one is like looks to me to be right up against the wall of the building. I think it's that just the design of the building too doesn't allow for it to be like right in the center because it's going to be in the same place. >> I feel it's like an architectural. It's probably just a very basic drawing. It's not like a final architectural. >> This is back in the corner though, right? >>
048Yeah, I would think that's where it's planned to be is back in the corner. >> Isn't there a road? You have the walking like path. >> It could be because there is a road there. >> Yeah. >> I like how one >> could be safety. >> It's not a real road. It's a either a main road or >> get maybe somebody there EMT or something to help somebody maybe road >> someone gets hurt. Well, is that something that could be brought up at the next >> building at the end of the month? Because that's just a >> location change. We're not changing the equipment or what's being installed. >> Yeah. And I feel like this is not um like to scale because all that equipment could in no way fit in that little tiny outer.
049>> I almost think this is a scale drawing. >> Yeah, >> it would indicate if it's scaled. So we could ask those questions maybe if the building had ground. >> It almost looks almost exactly like what Dormmont had there before, which is what scares me because it was honestly like a two foot drop off of the the slide. >> But maybe that was like because of the graph like the tub >> rubber tire whatever, >> right? resurfacing is happening with that. >> If you look at if you look at the second page and you look very closely at the drawing, you'll see that there's like a area around it. I think the image is bigger and they just couldn't move things on top of each other. Like if you look very I don't know how
050to describe this. I think it's just a matter of this isn't like a true image. >> Oh, there's a note at the bottom of that one, too. >> Like if you look at it, you can kind of I think it's just a matter of what whatever publisher they were using to draw this, it just wouldn't allow. I think that because if you look at this, you can see a very gray area and it's pushed up against each other. So, I think we're taking this too seriously is there. >> Yeah. I mean, just because we we should have been able to discuss this in the buildings and grounds meeting. >> Um, is there any way that we could push this back a month just because >> I don't know when it was build or if sometimes
051the pricing for so long and then pricing is 30 years >> to rebid is expensive. >> Oh, >> yeah. Then it goes up >> and then go up. The other issue would be I don't know what that's your time limit to >> to the point earlier whether or not those I'm not saying you can't. I'm just saying those are questions that we would have to consider. >> Yeah. It just would have been nice having that meeting to be able to discuss this in detail and have everybody be able to ask all of their questions instead of having to vote on it next week. If you have any specific questions that you would like to send to me, I can get them to Dr. Shaw, Mr. Thursday or Friday morning for them to be able to
052review and then whatever is shared with me I can then put out to the board. If you have specific questions feel free to email them over. >> I'd like to know if the Burke outlines if these are public information or if we cannot share them. >> And I'd like to know if the PFO has been shared. I I would actually like to share it with the PFOS if it's if we're allowed to >> communications should come from Dr. Strak's office. Correct. Come from individuals here. That should always go through Dr. Strak. But I don't see why they wouldn't be. But again, that would have to go through Dr. Strak because if you have them, you know, they were publicly bid and public designed, then they would be uh accessed by the public. But we would
053want that through one source here. I wouldn't want any of you starting to >> certainly once we accept things of anything that anything we accept and we spend money on will be a big public at that point in time but it should have consideration if not >> PFO putting money forward for these things >> this has been in the works for I have an eighth grader since he started kindergarten that the idea that you would rush the final design without some consultation with this group that is dedicated at each of these buildings. Seems >> dedicated in what way? In what way? Are they dedicated financially for this >> for design? >> I mean, they talk about this playground on a very regular basis. I'm sure they when we're talking dedicated, we are referring to residents,
054voters, and taxpayers. People who are dedicated to the school that they live here, they pay taxes. Their kids go to the school. >> I don't think we need to define their their dedication any further. >> Well, then open it up and just say the public in general, not just the PFOs. >> Oh, I as far as I'm concerned, this should go to everybody. That's what I'm >> as soon as you got bringing up the PFOS and I was just wondering is there money that they've dedicated towards these projects I didn't know about. >> No, but I feel but they are but they are the primary the primary entities who will dist or will push that out to the public. >> They're the ones who are going to share it on social media. They're the ones
055who are talking to people there. >> That should come from the district. Let's be clear about that. >> Which is fine. >> That should be coming from this office, not from that. >> And the voice of this board should be funneled through Dr. dropkick in putting there so that there's very clearly what the information is. It's not misunderstood or it's not you know not that there would ever be an intention but sometimes that happens when then lines get misconfused and then people in the audience have questions the taxpayers have questions the students have questions because maybe they thought they selected a design talk with their families. So we just want to make sure that everything is coming through the central administration and that is being pushed out in the appropriate way that everything is going
056out that is accurate. Everything is going out is equally going out to everybody not just some groups having more information than others. So we have to make sure I completely understand I think that's always been this board's uh stance that they are going to provide all this information to the public that they want to be transparent. We give out a lot of information on our website. I know they want to do that, but I just think that we have to be very careful that we're not particularly picking groups and picking certain information to be released at certain times. I think that that needs to be a package released to everyone. I think that's what I'm hearing that you all want. So, let's just make sure that Dr. Strak knows that and then he's able to
057get that information out. >> And this really has to be brushed. Dr. Strak and Mr. have been working on this behind the scenes I believe for at least three months now. >> Yes. >> Um you know they didn't feel that >> I got my first view it on Friday. >> Oh I think it's a matter of the importance of what we I mean personally I think it's overstepping for a board to have a say in exactly how playground should be. So I'm perfectly fine with the fact that Dr. Sty and Mr. Kubak took the reigns on that you know decided to reach out to the students or whatever. I don't I don't need to I don't need to manage that we're going to have three swings four swings. We have other items to worry about
058and I so I know it's been well thought out by them and I don't think it's been touched at all. You know >> I think we need to micromanage. >> Yeah. I mean, I think there's just some clarification needed on like who >> who has been notified and and how um and like what that timeline looks like cuz I think that that can probably answer a lot of the questions that that we have as far as like you know what that what that involvement. >> Always remember when you do construction um there's always change orders, things change and >> Yeah. change. I mean, this is, you know, they might run into problems and stuff. So, um, I think we're doing pretty good job and, uh, like Annie says, we'll be, uh, we'll make this, you
059know, transparent is we want this done and we all want to do it right the first time. So, I think we're in good good hands. It might cost a little bit more. I don't know about the ground and the other uh, factors involved in building these things. reach out and ask people to hold a bid. I don't think that's going to be a problem. Right. >> I think the question is is there going to be any issue with getting there will be a significant time related issue if it is not voted on next week? >> Yep. I just >> so can everyone get their questions to Moren >> by end of day Thursday so I can compile them for first thing Friday morning to be able to get to Dr. Mr. Kubak for further clarification.
060Does that mean Thursday evening? >> Yes, that's fine. >> Is it fair to say that we're going to talk to them about attaching some of that to the public agenda so that everybody will ask them? >> I know he briefly talked about the PFO. I don't have specifics as to >> I don't want to get into that specifically because the PFO legally from my perspective doesn't have any to the public. I don't know if his plan was after it was voted on. So, I have that written down to ask him that once it was approved by the board, then it would go out. I'm I'm not sure what his process was on that. >> Sure. >> I'm sure Sarah already has a has a pres. >> There is a place on the website that Sarah
061recently added that has to do with the remodeling project of all the elementary schools. Um, it came up on the homepage the other day when I was going on. So, I haven't had I don't know what all has been put on there, but I know that she was working on it. >> All right, that is the end of report. >> I'd like to mention that we have an education committee meeting also in February on the 23rd at 6 p.m. and that'll be in the professional development room. >> I think it said 6:30 on the calendar though. I'm just maybe >> I got it from the calendar. Oh, okay. I just looked at it the other day, but maybe I was wrong. Okay. >> I have a question for Miss Welsh. Are you on Zoom? >>
062She's online >> yet. Yes, I'm on. >> Um, we're uh Redford, the uh photography people, they're not going to be uh coming this month. Is that correct? Or is that getting rescheduled? We so because we uh were not going to have the full board either at tonight's meeting or next week, we were looking at the 24th possibly. I know it's a committee meeting, but there's three meetings that night. So, we are going to try to um I had reached out to see if anybody would not be in attendance that night, >> right, >> to see if we could possibly do it then. If that doesn't work, then we will um look at a different day in March. >> Okay. Thank you very much. >> Sure. >> 24th. >> If it does happen the 24th, can
063someone send email out the night before so I remember >> night before and morning of >> makeup? Okay. >> Prior. >> All right. Um, I will make a motion to adjurnn since there's nothing else. >> Seconded. >> Okay. All those in favor? I >> oppos. Yeah.
