024allegheny county you have to go through an apprenticeship and you have to have a license the career technology so they dropped those two and uh in february they are planning on adding a new zip code which is i want to get this right i'm gonna forget it now uh sports medicine sports medicine rehabilitation aid it's a new program it'll be coming on the catalog or whatever you want to call it february 22nd point february 2022. um also last night we uh approved the uh comprehensive plan for the western area career and technology center i gave everybody a copy all the board members have a copy of this now and that's for 2021 through 2024. okay do we have any students in the plumbing program now there wasn't any students in any of the there was

033she said that she would put us just to be clear she responded on our behalf okay i don't want that to be out there that i was not okay she didn't indicate that i apologize she just regardless i think in the initial email i said so then we got an email the entire board got an email and said that the request had been given and what did we all think at that point there were a couple of us who said wait a second i didn't think it had to be approved by the rest of the board and mrs todd had said that was always the way it had been handled um and that she would check i've looked at the policy and i did send mrs todd this information this morning i do not see
034anywhere in the policy where it directly states that an agenda item has to be approved by the majority of the board in order to be put on the agenda so i haven't had a response to that but that is the question at hand there is nothing in the policy that says that says that so when a board member asks for something to be placed on the agenda then should it not be placed on the agenda [Music] so here is the limit and again um just to be clear i was part of this the dilemma we come into is if again you ask for something to be placed and then i get a call from scott and scott says i don't want that on the agenda and then i get a call from someone else saying
035what this our issue was in the past we've always followed the practice uh if he went through the chain of command through the president or vice president and was placed on there because what could happen again is that scenario one one board member says i want this on there another one says no i don't want that on me and so again as we're creating that agenda that's we we consider that but it has to come from in the past from the president vice president i get you that that was the protocol that we used there's nothing on it that says that you prudence and nothing that says that you can and we've just fallen past vertical and i would say in in ancient answers to that things are different now because in the past any
036board member could bring any item to the to the floor today the day of the meeting but that is no longer allowed sure by the new stipulations so it seems to me then we need to change our protocol um and the whole point of public debate is for that so i i would like to have it on there you don't that's why we have public debate yeah um and so i i would ask that we we changed that protocol if in fact that has been the past protocol i should have been i should have gone ahead with my statement because my statement was about this i was just going to ask how do you get something on the agenda because in the policy it says that it is decided amongst the that she wrote device
037um the assistant super and we don't even have an assistant superintendent so obviously we do need to adjust that but i was really shocked that a majority of the board had to approve it because then what's the point of it's on the agenda and everyone votes i i was surprised i was just going to ask for clarification and that's obviously what we're getting here so i would like to see something on the agenda then how do i do that that's the whole question i think we'll look to our sisters and help us with that again there's nothing that that says that you couldn't do nothing that we said that you could you said the policy reads that it shall be the responsibility of the superintendent in cooperation with the assistant superintendent business administrator and board
038secretary to prepare an agenda of the items of business to come before the board at each regular meeting the agenda together with all such reports can be completed shall be provided each school director at least three days before the meeting there is nothing in there that says that a an agenda item suggestion has to be approved by quite frankly anybody i think it is appalling that that a board members denied having something put on the agenda for discussion especially now with the way that the new law is in effect where there are and i have that there are exceptions to changing the agenda in title 65 right so it says basically what title 65 says is that you have to put the agenda out and there can be no changes to the agenda within 24
039hours of the meeting except there are exceptions but those exceptions those exceptions are that um if during the matter of a meeting a resident or taxpayer brings a matter of agency business that is not listed on the meeting agenda to the attention of the agency the agency may take official action to refer the matter to staff if applicable for the purpose of researching the matter for inclusion on the agenda of a future meeting or if the matter is diminished in nature and does not involve the expenditure of funds or entering into a contractor agreement the agency may take official action on the vote but even at that the next part of that is that the board has to vote as a majority vote to actually change the agenda at that moment that's a lot to

044respond to that coach how do the parents feel about that coach i think how the athletes respond to the coach is the most important because a good coach should inspire them to do better a coach is supposed to be positive enthusiastic supportive trusting goal oriented and respectful i think we do have some coaches in our sports programs that fall short of these attributes we also have coaches who exceed those expectations my main point is this how does the board know how a coach treats the players unless they are at practices and games so i have a suggestion i would like to see a survey sent out to the athletes and to the parents um before spending tax tax paying dollars to rehire someone who's been here for a while um if i i understand that
045that would probably a lot of people would think that would open a can of worms but i have to disagree i think if you're doing your job there shouldn't be a problem i think that there are kids um currently playing in sports that are scared to speak up against any any of their coaches because they're afraid they're going to lose play time and i know of players who don't want to play the following year because they're intimidated so just for clarification you're asking that the survey that would go out to athletes and parents be one tool that's used as a factor into rehiring not the sold no no just one tool thank you thank you thank you the protocol is if there's a problem with the coach you're supposed to see the coach the parents
046if that doesn't work the next step is you're supposed to contact the principal of the building that that coach the athletic director second if you don't get an answer or issue resolved then it goes to the principal then if you don't get an issue resolved it goes to the superintendent and if you don't get it resolved with the superintendent you can bring it in front of the board without mentioning that yes but i i thought we have a hierarchy don't we the chart and i think that is mr bonus is over top of mr dalton mr dalton is over top of all the coaches i believe that but again i think that's one of those yeah but you're over all that right mark in the handbook yeah there's there's a chart yeah but i don't

054voted by the superintendent and the board so they had a station form that was sent back from governor wolf the pa department of education and health which stiff-armed public schools in the commonwealth of pennsylvania you guys literally had from november 23rd to november 30th to sign and submit this the health plan is in no in coordinates with this legal document i understand what you meant when it came to the health and safety plan amy todd but whenever it came to the legal document that you guys signed which is this attestation form it needed to be publicly deliberated now through all the investigation that i've gone through not only at mcguffy but several other school districts that andrew and price represents i found the same issue and it was very very concerning to me considering that
055tom king in butler area school district fought this from the beginning rotted public signed it in protest realizing that you guys actually did have to sign it legally but butler area school district brought it public and from what i'm learning through the emails through the right to knows that i found it seems as though that you were given poor legal advice it seems as though that you guys truly didn't understand the weight and gravity of this legal document that was signed and submitted and what concerns me even worse is mr lucas who i guess conveniently isn't here i don't know why but the head of the law firm is mr lucas added language to the very email that was trying to be described to the rest of the board about the attestation form added language

067that as parents and and as uh leaders in the community it needs to it needs to stop things need to be checked and balanced read the question below from f scott fitzgerald's the great gatsby match each one with the theme for a lesson it suggests this is just a practice problem that the kids are given this was not an assignment for my child this is just available to my child the first quotation they were careless people tom and daisy they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money and let other people clean up the mess the second quotation whenever you feel like criticizing anyone he told me just remember that all the people in the world haven't had the advantages that you've had and the third quotation he hadn't once ceased
068looking at daisy and i think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her with well-loved eyes and now here are the um the lesson uh the theme or lesson that those quotes suggest wealth and privilege protect some people from the result of their actions don't judge people without first imagining yourself in their position when you care about someone they influence how you see the world i don't know how many of you have have done any kind of research on critical race theory if any at all um but wealth and privilege to protect some people from the result of their actions is a direct line to critical race theory again this was not an assignment for my child but it is available for students at any given moment

070game that the kids are playing one of the things that um that i've read about this game is um i'll just read the i'll just read the reviews that i've that i've uh that i've found um is my time up yes i'm sorry okay that's fine i guess i'll bring it up okay thank you um my take of this game this is a teacher's review that i found this game teaches children incorrect ideas and encourages cheating lying and other bad acts it is not a fun game as no children liked it this wasn't caused by the game but the smart kid got his head slammed against the desk by the other one he is recovering long story short the game teaches children that robbery is the only form of success another review was how i
071use it we use this to teach math and one of my students got very upset because the game lets students rob other students he was the smart kid and he was in first at the last second one of those blokes who sat there doing nothing answered one question and instantly was able to swap with the smart kid luckily we don't grade off of this but the only way to win is to steal from others which is not how life works it also told the smart kid he had a zero accuracy rate even though he got most of them right i just really feel like there's a lot of things that teachers are using that maybe they don't realize the effect that it may have on a student and there were many many teachers who were
