lee i have been thankful enough to know her for the last five years she teaches seven different courses and is actively involved in her community mrs lee means so much to her students that i wanted to share a few messages from her students today eric said that mrs lee is a thoughtful teacher who is active in her classroom but still empowers students to take leadership roles and learn independently eric has watched himself and others grow while learning through mrs lee's classes kayla stated that mrs lee is an outstanding example of all the factors she teaches her students these include independence intelligence kindness and above all tenaciousness she thrives off of teaching her students real life skills and knowledge that they will need later in life to be actively independent leading with these skills can and

has only helped and made her students blossom into hard-working young individuals maddox has had mrs lee for seven classes he stated that he liked the technology-based approach versus textbook teaching i'm so honored to be representing mrs lee she has a new and innovative way of teaching that engages her students and incorporates aspects of their everyday lives she is rebuilding education daily and gives her students a break from traditional pencil and paper and allows them to embrace who they really are she is charismatic dedicated and goes above and beyond to ensure that her students receive quality education and that they're in an environment where they feel accepted and welcome today education has evolved in ways we could have never predicted during the pandemic mrs lee adapted through the use of technology and had to teach her

students in ways that were not possible before mrs lee has remained strong and held her head high even when her students were not in the best of spirits mrs lee is the voice of new innovative teaching thank you very much mr walk middle school students of the month okay so we're here for our november students of the month uh mr valentine he's been out sick for a little bit so i don't have the plaques today they'll be getting them tomorrow so we have our certificates today um but first we'll start with our female student of the month for november julianna ward juliana is the daughter of melanie and josh ward her favorite teachers are mrs young and mrs solowski her favorite class is science her activities outside of school include travel softball and mcguffy cheer

you thank you thank you very much and congratulations okay we're down to public comment mr smitsky sorry mr group i got caught at the train crossing there i saw that okay uh teresa coppola i'm theresa coppola from south franklin my comments will focus on two key agenda items this evening first the proposed vaccine blister clinic after the controversy surrounding the last time our taxpayer-funded school facilities were used to promote and propagate a highly controversial vaccine by creating a vaccine clinic within our school i at that time asked the board to revise our school facility usage policy so that something like this could never happen again without the tax paying families of mcguffy being ensured public awareness and public discourse before a publicly held vote so while i am exceedingly appreciative of the transparency of this

being brought up and disclosed publicly on our agenda tonight um the fact of the matter does remain that this is a highly controversial issue and one that a large majority have already clearly expressed their views on you cannot pretend to not know or choose to acknowledge just how controversial and divisive this is so by attempting to use our school in this way you are taking aside whether you realize or move to or not i'm here to make sure that you do realize it this is a public school this is our public school it is not a medical facility it is not as if people can't go to their own doctor or to med express or to any pharmacy including curtis pharmacy to get their booster um i also have a few points from pennsylvania coalition

for informed consent they have a flyer here that reports that even though this is not for children understands for faculty but children have been reporting to the pennsylvania department of health but vaccine clinics at their schools create an atmosphere of bullying excuse me bullying coercion and pressure so this was actually again put out by the pennsylvania coalition for informedconsent.org in a flyer called keep pharma out of our pa schools um they also make the point that schools should never take part in marketing or pushing any pharmaceutical product to minors soliciting money um i think you're not on the subject of the agenda yeah it's a vaccine yes but you're talking about children's vaccines and others no it's being held at our school excuse me being held at our school so the children will know about

that it's at our school can i speak now i'm sure thank you can the time be part yeah the time needs to be paused this issue is for staff and faculty members only at the school at the school so this is about our facilities involved in this issue there will be nobody else but the staff but it's a facility usage situation that's what my comments are about facility usage have you ever heard of employers offering things to their employees so it saves them time my comments are about a publicly funded building our school building being used in this manner that's what my comments are about well i would hope that you would strictly keep to the faculty and staff thank you but her comment is not about the faculty when she brought up the paper

it was about children reporting to different people when vaccine clinics when vaccine clinics are held at public schools that's what this flyer is about it's it's not about children it's about them being held at school i didn't say two children i said at the facility of their children would be bullied when they have them in this now this is what children have reported to the pa department of health when vaccine clinics were held at their schools that is what they're reporting i still think you're off topic but that's okay okay um so i have to ask are we here to educate our kids or are we here to push pharmaceutical products onto them i do not think this is an appropriate usage of our facilities um to highlight just one of the many reasons that

this vaccine is so controversial not only do we all know that after receiving the vaccine you can still both contract and transmit covid but now publicly elected officials like mitra jalali who is a well-known councilwoman from saint paul minnesota has come out on her social media just this week to share the news that although she has been fully vaccinated receiving both initial doses of the coveted shot she has also received her booster and she has now tested positive for covid so i'll just let that sit for a minute my next comments are regarding the trauma-informed approach i do not believe most people understand what is behind this push in our culture today it's clear that well-intentioned good-hearted people hear words like inclusion and equity along with soft emotional phrases about healing the vulnerable and we

think automatically of course i'm all for this why wouldn't we the problem is most people do not understand where this is coming from who the people behind it are or what their true motivations are for instance did you all know that trauma-informed pa was actually pushed through by an executive order from governor wolf in 2019 and did you know that on his website under the newsroom section from july 27 2020 will flat out states that one of the six key areas his trauma-informed pa plan focuses on is and i quote this is from the government website preventive and healing racial communal and historical traumas whether they be individual or systemic end quote so many of us parents have asked the board and have asked dr gotran is trauma-informed learning tied in any way to critical

race theory we were assured that it does not now i'm not accusing anyone here of being part of an insidious plot i very much doubt that we have many far left extremists here in mcguffey i do not believe anyone here wants to hurt our kids or intentionally indoctrinate them so what i am trying to say is i believe you were perhaps unaware of wolf's stated agenda on his own website when you promoted it did anyone actually go to the governor's website to read about his plan in depth or were you just implementing what you were directed to by pve or whoever it is that hands down these directives because the people behind this know exactly what they're doing trauma informed and social emotional learning in and of themselves aren't bad the problem is they have

been hijacked and they have been polluted by a radical political and social agenda this is ideology here this is privileged versus the oppressed indoctrination this is not common sense stuff this is fundamentally changing the way that we see each other and it is dividing us and we do not need this garbage at mcguffy this is also in part what the wolf administration used for penndot when they changed the stipulation on our licenses to make a non-gender selection there's also a section from trauma informed pa that blanket accepts the statement that police are racist he remembers the image of wolf in the news marching through the streets of harrisburg with black lives matter with a man marching next to him holding a blue lives murder sign is that who we stand with here in mcguffy a

governor who says police are racist in blue lives murder does that sound like mcguffy to any of you because it sure doesn't sound like it to me his plan also states all children are traumatized whether from covid systemic racism or from january 6th and so we all all children need to have this special attention not just the ones that actually need it but all of us and so they're going to integrate it into all k through 12 curriculum and yes the specifics refer to systemic racism so we have a problem a big problem because we understood that the board voted to have nothing of critical race theory none of its tendents promoted or taught at mcguffy this needs to be struck down immediately thank you justin coppola [Music] i'm justin napoli from south franklin i'm

going to talk about three agenda items my wife touched on two of them the vaccine clinic and uh the trauma informed approach so and also uh the third one would be the android price invoice uh the first the vaccine clinic there's no need to have a vaccine clinic here i mean we we literally have it at every single rite aid walgreens they advertise it absolutely everywhere i'm sure if you were dying to get one right now there would be an opportunity for you within a matter of like 20 minutes so having it here to the individuals who i would imagine still want to have a choice whether they take it or not having it here would be creating an opportunity of i'd say division this is america i feel that it should be a choice

it shouldn't be pressured we shouldn't have that type of facility here we're not a hospital i think we should just completely just wash our hands of it all together and have the staff members just make that decision on their own on their own time because they can get it for free i guess the second point would be uh the trauma informed approach my wife was just a rock star with it uh just just considering that a lot of parents aren't really informed about exactly what it looks like what it's going to entail in to be quite honest uh not really a fan of governor wolf and what he has to say but i would say that the having an opportunity to really research it just a little bit more actually have maybe a presentation of

uh how teachers and staff would be trained in it what it looks like having like actually a booklet detailed saying we will not go outside of these parameters no matter what the state says we'll talk about it i think that would be kind of a safe zone to actually have parents have a little bit more input considering a lot of the raised questions that teresa brought up i think that was just phenomenal and uh my third agenda item would be andrew and price's invoice 7 300 that's a lot of money that is certainly a lot of money considering the track record of what i've noticed i can see why sometimes it would it would be as high as it is um seems like they might not be giving uh good legal advice when it comes

to a lot of the situations that have come through mcgaffey considering both mr lucas and i believe mr andrews here uh who is the head of law firm of andrew and price oversaw emails that dealt with the attestation form back when the pa department of health and education uh they sent it to acting superintendent amy todd back on november 23rd 2020. andrew and price never suggested that this should be brought to a public voting item it's actually a violation of the government in sunshine law and the board never brought it public because of at the time mr lucas is poor legal advice but the email that amy todd was connected to william andrews that had a law firm witnessed the whole transaction take place and still and yet never suggested to you guys to bring

it public i personally think that's creating a liability for the district it's not anything in any way shape or form a direction that with new school board members that they would want to go in considering that it would compromise by they're not being held accountable it would be the school district on poor legal advice so with poor legal advice you're draining tax money with their legal fees that they're causing with their poor legal advice their legal opinion pretty much matches acting health secretary allison beam and the wolf administration which was just uh found unlawful and unforceable by the win by tom king through the butler area school district through the lawsuit that they had since the beginning that dealt with the attestation andrew form price clearly cannot do their job when it comes to what

the board votes on the most recent example would be at our last school board meeting when dr oberg and mr lucas sat down after a school board meeting when they voted to update the health plan what mr lucas and dr oberg updated was nothing in which the board voted on which is very concerning to me considering that's his job to make sure that what the board votes on is implemented properly on the website so that everybody understands exactly what the board voted on um i'm just going to i'm just going to end with three scriptures god put on my heart amen the lord doesn't see things the way people see things people judge by outward appearances but the lord looks at the heart first samuel 16 7. every man's way is right in his own

eyes but the lord weighs and examines the heart of people and their motives proverbs 21 2 and the last one the lord says is the one who trusts in man who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the lord that person will be like a bush in the wastelands they will not see prosperity when it comes it'll dwell in the parched places of the desert in a salt land where no one lives but blessed is the one who trusts in the lord who can who whose confidence is in him they will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream it does not fear when heat comes it leaves its leaves are always green it has no worries in a year of drought and

never fails to bear fruit the heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure who can understand it i the lord i the lord search the heart and examine the mind to reward each person according to their conduct according to what their deeds deserve jeremiah 17 5-10 i just want to thank you carl group for how you've been voting consistently with the parents i think that's admirable i just want to give you personally publicly that i appreciate by the last several school board meetings that i've attended i've truly seen if anything a voice for the parents so i personally thank you for that thank you for your time chrissy floyd good evening i am chrissy florian i'm in the east findlay borough i'm a mother of five children um and three are in the district

i want to start off with the two things that i've got just a little bit to talk about is the vaccine stuff and teachers resignations i thought a few months ago that we had come to the understanding that any vaccine clinic on the school premises was not welcome here we are once again this is uncalled for this is an overstep and you're here to to educate we expect teachers and staff to support our children through their education they should have absolutely no binding to any medical especially vaccines anything like that i do not want my children around it it's bad enough that they know what they know and have anxiety from several different things that have come in the last two years let's see uh you should not be bringing vaccinations into a public place

where the main goal is uh children's education there are there's a there are several other available places to go um if you're being pushed to hold these clinics at our schools or our school by who knows people higher up whoever is suggesting this um and or you are given incentives by doing so you and you you are and you're on board with the idea i think that you need to reconsider your position i do not know how much clearer that we can make it that we do not share the same mindset and i believe that you are very wrong in your thinking we are watching you we are paying attention the things you're getting away with and think you've gotten away with will not go unnoticed anymore there are several things that have been brought

up through the months that seem to just kind of gotten slipped underneath the rug and are not being handled [Music] i believe a change is coming i pray a lot that there are more like-minded people here people with good hearts i've noticed that mr group has at times made different decisions than i expected him to especially recently i thank you for that for for being on the good side for once um i believe that this has just begun and i want to say from the masks to different programs that you are trying to push we are watching you do you care about the community's input yet especially with vaccines i mean everyone that i've spoken to in my family or my friends believe that it is absolutely ridiculous that something like that would be on

school grounds i believe that they as much as all of us should have some type of say it was an overstep last time in my opinion when they when the first and second shots were administered here um as far as the teachers resignations i first want to thank all of the teachers that stay in our district and continue to teach our children to those that do not have the best interest at heart for the children please know that you do not please know that i do not support your efforts if it's going to cause harm to any child to the teachers that are choosing to resign and leave our district i want to say thank you for choosing mcguffy and if you're leaving due to the unconstitutional mandates i am very sorry that you felt

that that was the choice that you had to make i stand behind any of you staying and choosing to fight this and i say let them fire you first [Music] um thank you for your time thank you vicky jordan okay i know it looks like a lot i'm really not using all of this vicki jordan buffalo township um i want to discuss the trauma informed program that's being considered my main goal tonight is to ask you before you vote on this i know multiple times that we've asked that presentation be done in regard to how this program is going to be used uh i know dr gottlin i'm sorry if i pronounce that wrong um did a presentation with a reading and then you all broke it down in your interpretations but in the end

of that twice it never really answered any of my questions and those are um i'd like to know how the students will be targeted to participate what are the parents rights in regard to involvement and opting out how do we ensure this program is an abuse to sing our children whose parents or grandparents might not be liked and used against them what exactly will be the procedures used to implement this can teachers use this program to plant seeds against a parent's moral value remember you can only counsel a child once without parental consent before a second meeting my fear is that the program has the potential to be abused and used to undermine parental authority i'm asking that you really think long and hard about this before you vote on it because it is such

a controversial program it's your duty to be informed through your own due diligence before voting on these types of programs and i would ask that before you vote on this tonight maybe you table it one more time give dr gottman the opportunity to do a present presentation that actually gets down to how this program is going to be used how it's going to affect our children and the tools involved i think it's very important to make us all feel comfortable with how this program is going to be utilized uh so i'm asking that you just take the time and consider that before you i know we asked you to table it last month but somebody very key to this got ill and didn't have meetings that she was supposed to have with dr gobrin and

i would just i'm asking you to table it again so we have time and maybe he can address some of the concerns that the majority of us have the other thing i want to touch on is the vaccine clinic i honestly thought it had been resolved again i'm not going to beat you up with a bunch of information other than i'm going to read from the health and safety plan which on in here it says efforts to provide vaccine vaccinations to school communities when requested provide brochures and other information to staff and students staff and students about receiving any type of vaccines at sites outside of the district so clearly what's in our health and safety plan is not what we're now discussing i'm not sure why that is but and then i have one

last thing and i know this is going to sound like nitpicking but i'm a monies lady and when you're raising my taxes not once but twice during a pandemic and you're getting a whole lot of money for coven i would like to ask some questions in regard to the expenses for an upcoming conference now i see on here dr gotren has a registration fee of 150 accommodations 390 mileage 350 and mills 90. these are for december's dates december 6th through the 8th then you go down to the next line and you see mr bonus who is attending the 5th through the 7th same number of days uh 150 for registration 154 accommodations 350 for mileage and 30 for males so i'm just kind of curious how you come about your numbers that you use for

allowances on the pa.gov site there is it's called the gsa it's the general service administration and they kind of govern the cost of travel i know at least for the state my daughter-in-law does all the traveling arrangements for the state police and as part of her job and when i showed her this she was like she felt that these prices were outrageous she actually brought up the site it's showing 56 cents per mile which i know gas has increased double so i take that into consideration but just so you know that standard rate has not changed it's still 56 cents per mile and rates for hotels in hershey ranged anywhere from 87 to the highest of 128. so i just the numbers were drastically different and it's just something i would like you guys to

look at i don't know if this is a contractual issue that maybe gotran gets more than bonus or but yeah it was a red flag for me he actually eats a lot more than mr bones so you're not attending any of the classes from the fifth to the uh okay yeah i mean it just so you know yeah and i appreciate that input um so anyway please and thank you for your consideration in these few matters that i have tonight and i'm just going to close by saying [Music] we've been quiet for a lot of years remember the community has opened our eyes to a lot of things that we didn't like and we're not going away we're paying attention we're reading full agendas i would like to see you guys do a better job

of making information easier to ex more accessible i know in order to find uh for the trauma informed 146 it was extremely difficult thank you thank you thank you lucas good evening uh mine's a little different than what everybody else has been talking about tonight falls along the facility's use some from south franklin township i have two kids in the district uh one in joe walker one in uh middle school concerning the one in joe walker he who plays for highlander youth basketball and some other sports practices at claysville elementary so something i was just brought or made aware of is that as parents we're not allowed in the facility while our kids are practicing i don't know how many other parents here tonight have kids playing after school sports or if it bothers them

but it does bother me uh and that i'm not permitted to stay in the school and watch the practice um i did talk to roger zaminski today got a little bit of information from him but it does bother me just for a few reasons first i enjoy watching my son practice it's a big part of being a parent and watching my child grow secondly it doesn't make sense for me to either sit in the car for an hour and a half especially during this time of year because the car have to run to keep me warm or to drive back home to prosperity and then back to claysville again especially with the cost of gas being close to four dollars a gallon so anyway uh it just doesn't make sense to me and if it

doesn't make sense to anybody else i'm not sure where to go from here but i will say that if you could voice your opinion also to chief zaminsky his phone number is 724-948-3323 he's extension 3052 and let him know how you feel about this i'm just thinking if others feel the same way as i do and if we can get enough people involved to call then maybe we can get this role if it is a rule taken off the books are dropped so that's all i have to say thank you thank you thank you missy ely that's the last one i have for hello missy hailey from donegal township um i don't normally do this so bear with me please my first question was when i got here um we already i thought we already

discussed the vaccine facility being here like in another meeting that i was at and it was knocked down like nobody wanted it here so i didn't think we had to revisit this again so when it came to my attention today it was for the moment i'm going to come to the board meeting um to hear from more citizens than just the same ones you hear from all the time no offense i'm so glad all of you are here but you need to hear that there's more of us out here that are worried about it um than just a handful we just are i have five kids in the high school they're all in sports and i i'm just busy for morning till night i'm sure everybody is but so when things come up that red

flag i wanted to go ahead and come and see now the part i didn't understand i as chief when i first got here i'm like um i don't understand when i put it up online the only thing i get is the word vaccine i didn't know anything about what about it i don't know if it's that faculty i don't know if it's for kids i don't know if it's your talk and mandating it i don't know anything and when i come to the meeting i have to talk before you talk about the agenda how do i know what you're talking about for me to know what to say so i'm going off the cuff so i just heard that it's for the faculty i didn't know that so i would like to go ahead and

finish what i do have to say just so you know where i'm coming from um where my first thought was when i heard it is i don't take my kids to the doctors for an education so i don't want my kids to come to the school getting any influence of health decisions yes thank you um school in the doctor's offices just don't mix the nurse here is the as far as it needs to go in my opinion um it's also up to the parents about all the medical decisions the the nurse here cannot even give my child a tylenol without calling me i do not feel a vaccination site needs to be here because it was already voting no now we're back on the table it's out there in the world that kids younger and

younger are able to make these decisions and get these shots here you want a donut johnny i'll give you the shot okay hello that's not right so i feel we keep taking these steps so if we open that door and put it here just for the faculty in another month or two or next year it's going to be here for the kids i just i i have it in my heart i have five kids in sports they are already concerned that they're going to have to take the vaccine to play sports and we are just praying that it doesn't happen because i don't want them to have it but they want their sports sorry so i just hope it doesn't come here because i'm afraid it's gonna just keep the devil just keeps going one

step at a time one little thing and i'm just afraid he gets that foot in the door is going to come down to more decisions for the kids and it's not fair they're here for an education not to be worried about their health that their parents have to take care of and they shouldn't be persuaded one way or the other and if it is on the facility somewhere i do agree that somebody's gonna be talking about it i know already my kids deal with it oh i already got my shot why aren't you getting your shot my kid's like um i just don't want to shoot you in five years when you become a zombie okay so it's it's already out there why put it here for them to have even more of an issue

so i i just really am strong about that we have doctors offices we have curtises they need to deal with the medicine like they're professionals to do i just really pray that you make the right decision thank you thank you mr wilson is there anyone online that wants to speak there are some people online in attendance uh if you have if you want to use your time at this point please use the race hand function for agenda items we do have a few raised hands mr group first up we have emily dale you can unmute your microphone hello can you hear me yes hello dr oberg mr lucas mr price mrs todd and board members my name is emily dale my husband and i live in buffalo township with our four children and i wanted

to discuss three agenda items as well seems to be a popular number tonight um i realize that you may not answer my questions but i think it might be helpful if you did so my first question is does mcguffie offer a flu vaccine clinic for staff or have they in the past i know that most many schools do i won't say most many schools do my son's workplace the wellness center does and the hospitals that i work for both do um as well as having covered vaccine clinics uh i know that there's a teacher shortage i know that there is a substitute shortage and as a parent personally i would prefer that the teachers be able to go and get their booster if they want it uh you know take five minutes out of their

lunch or their prep and go and do that in school then have to take a half a day or a day to go and get it somewhere else so i think a vaccine clinic for staff makes great sense and is a great use of everyone's time the next thing i wanted to speak to was the many resignations tonight i wanted to say how sad i am my family is especially to see mr reiko go uh he has absolutely been my boy's favorite middle school teacher and if uh mr bonus or mr wilker there they've heard me uh many times say how different my boys are so for all three of my boys to agree it's quite miraculous i am super super super sad to see him go not even in the middle of mushi's here

with him um i would be very interested in hearing the why of these resignations the chatter on facebook is that everyone's quitting because of vaccine mandates which i find hard to believe so i would be really really interested if you guys could share um what you can about this the third agenda item i wanted to speak about was is also trauma-informed care like trauma-informed approach in this case um like many of the other speakers and i wanted to tell you some things about me that you can't see even if we were in person you couldn't see these things about me um so one is that my dad died when i was two of cancer and he was three years younger than me so every year that i get with my kids i feel like i'm

on borrowed time my husband was a sexual assault counselor for 10 years there's been a lot of trauma talk in my house i worked with teen parents for two years and quickly became aware that there were a couple of questions that i was always going to hear interesting answers to one was how many schools have you gone to and i had at least three clients who couldn't tell me all the schools they'd been to because there were more than 15 that they had attended and some only for days or weeks and they couldn't possibly remember them all let alone what years they'd gone to which schools or what house they'd lived in at that time that's trauma and as many of our speakers over the past months of you and i have heard have alluded

to covid is a trauma maybe not that major trauma like these kids who have been abused that was the second one sorry um many many of those teen parents were abused and many many of them went to you know more than six schools in their case in their school career that is all trauma our kids have been traumatized i think a little bit by covet and i hope that we will be empathetic in recognizing which kids have been more traumatized than others in nursing school in my psychology class i heard this story about um a nursing home where they had this serious problem they had this sweet little old lady with a polish accent who was sweet and kind until you tried to put her on a shower chair and take her into the shower

and then she would kick and bite and scream and screech and scratch and this went on day after day and they called in someone to help them eventually and the person who was called in said have you all ever noticed the tattoo on her arm she's a holocaust survivor when you try to wheel her into that shower she thinks you're trying to kill her and she's acting in self-defense how about she has a you know a bath by her bedside or how about we try a different approach than wheeling her forcibly into a shower that has informed all of my work all of my work as a nurse all of my work teaching teen parents and all of my work as a child birth counselor i don't do guided imagery with my plants because i

don't know what has happened to them on a mountaintop in a cave at the seaside i don't know their story so i'm not gonna try and deeply take them someplace i really hoped that my husband could speak to you because he's the one with the 10 years of sexual assault training but he's in an army competition and they won and um i'm grateful for that so i'm speaking instead so the other story i wanted to share with you was the week my husband went to basic training one of my children was given an evaluation at the school and it was very clear when we got the evaluation back the evaluator did not know him did not particularly like him and the allie that they represented was unrecognizable to me and to any of the teachers

that i showed the report they said he wasn't paying attention he was fidgeting he couldn't follow a question he was spinning in his chair he didn't do anything right in short he was in flight or fight syndrome because it was the week that his dad had gone away for four months he had no energy or attention for a psychic evaluation he just missed his dad and he wanted someone to be kind to him if my family faces another deployment i would really really really really appreciate it if someone would be kind to my children and to find the why of their behavior instead of just focusing on that behavior and that is what i believe trauma informed care is about it looks at the why it takes into consideration the cause of a young person's

actions like them using alcohol to cope or you know abuse survivors using drugs or alcohol it gives us the reason or the music behind their words thank you very much up next mr group we have katie morris katie you can unmute your microphone hello can you hear me yes okay my name is katie morris i reside in south franklin township i am a mother of three and a wife and i'm sorry i can't be there in person tonight i was just at a fundraiser for my daughter's school and i was delivering bread and butter to parents so i got done late and just didn't have the energy to come so i hope this will suffice i know being in person is much greater of an impact i hope you hear me well um i want

to talk about the vaccine clinic shocking i know first of all i'm glad that we updated our policy usage that this is being brought up as a vote in a discussion tonight in the past as many of you know the vaccine clinic was offered to um students ages 12 and up without being voted on by the board it was merely dr oberg's decision and i'm glad that is now being brought to the community's attention and i think that it is a resounding no is what i'm hearing and i would also echo that we also have in the health and safety plan about um the vaccine clinic read it read it again and then read it one more time we will list that you can get your vaccine elsewhere we do not need to use our

tax paying facility to do this yes it is just for our staff but we care about our staff too and it only opens up a lane of traffic to eventually be for our kids which is now being uh emergency use authorized for five to eleven-year-olds this well i i already hear the argument well if we did it for our staff then why can't we do it for our students so let's just not do it i can give you some information you can go to walmart from 9 00 a.m to 9 00 p.m you can go to rite aid from 8 a.m to 10 p.m and you can go to sam's club from 9am to 7pm there's ample opportunity to go get your booster if you so choose remember this is an emergency use authorized product

it is not approved by the fda the the dose that is being put out is not fda approved it is still emergency use that means that it's a right to try it should not be mandated this the world that we're living in is so upside down there are no long-term studies there's no studies on what this is going to do to fertility there's no studies on cancer have you guys not been listening to the heart attacks the myocarditis that is causing and especially young men the signals these are all issues on this specific vaccine please don't put yourselves in this limelight we don't need to be any type of hero for a vaccine clinic at mcguffy let them go somewhere else i'd also encourage you to look into real not rare there are a lot

of people who are on in these trials that are speaking out they have terrible side effects a little girl lost her ability to walk she's paralyzed they kicked her off the study they stopped following her and they don't talk about it they're not going to tell you these kinds of things because they want people to take the product there are no there's zero liability for this product it is a biologic i'd also like to talk about an echo another comment that was made earlier about practice and not allowing parents in my daughter plays on the basketball team and last this past tuesday i was told right before her practice that no parents were allowed in i agree that that is wrong i made my daughter take a cell phone with her because you just never

know i mean if we're having vaccine clinics in our school maybe they'll just have some extra doses sitting somewhere for her and just you know vaccinate her without parental consent um i know that's a little extreme but here we are um there absolutely should be parents allowed in practice i my daughter is eight years old it's if we can't be in the practice then you should allow some way of us being able to to supervise either through uh zoom put a camera in there give us a parent lounge to sit in somewhere that's what we do for cheer my daughter does cheer and we have a parent lounge we can sit and watch in there they have it videotaped so i think it's ridiculous but at least do something to accommodate the parents that want

to have want to keep an eye on their kids i want to speak on the trauma informed learning i honestly don't know a lot about it and i think that's the problem uh more people in the community need educated on this in regards to what is going to be taught as well as social emotional learning so i would also recommend tabling this the information needs to be put out there there's a lot of talk about it being related to crt we had a motion put uh zoni passed the motion and it was voted on i think all but one did not want to uh didn't agree with the motion to allow crt in our school district this is said that this program is just in a different version or a different name for crt is

it i don't know but table it let's see it show us everything thank you guys for your time and i hope you guys have a good night thank you mr group we have another person monique fry one second monique you can unmute your microphone good evening can everybody hear me yes okay thank you good evening my name is monique fry morris township i'm sorry i can't be there this evening um my husband and i are suffering from covid this week um i wanted to talk about the vaccine clinics um i got into the meeting late so i'm not really sure what everybody else said prior to me except for a couple people but i'd like to say that there is absolutely no need for vaccine clinics on school grounds like others have mentioned it only

leads to other pathways of possibly our students being vaccinated on school grounds in the future as another parent mentioned schools for education and the doctor's office is for health concerns and for testing and for vaccinations and for anything else um we need we need to remember to keep keep things aligned the way they're supposed to be i'm going to try to keep my mind on focus as for trauma-informed care or the trauma-informed approach there are still a lot of things that are unclear there absolutely are pathways to the critical race theory throughout this i don't know if anybody else has read governor wolf's article on this but he actually mentions racial communal and historic traumas whether they be individual or systemic um that that's supposed to be one of the purposes of his trauma-informed um

approach plan um to heal racial trump trauma um i don't believe we have that at mcguffy again this goes along the lines of keeping schools for education and doctor's offices for health concerns mcguffy is not a mental health clinic mcguffy never will be and there should never be these kind of programs in mcguffy i know it's mentioned um you know dr doctrine has mentioned in the past that um that you know this is just going to be training for teachers but what kind of teacher needs to be trained to recognize if a student is having a problem a true problem somebody who's teaching these kids every single day if you can't tell that something isn't right and you treat that student wrong because of it should you really be teaching that student and i don't

mean that to be rude to other teachers or anything like that it just doesn't make sense to me that our teachers need to be taught these things and if they do there is a huge disconnect morally and ethically that goes back a heck of a lot further than training in their job that goes back even further than the hunt and that should be considered um trauma-informed approach um as katie has mentioned you know part of the problem is people just don't understand they don't understand what it is dr gotran has has done a lot to try to explain it to me um one of my one of my concerns and issues um combined is we already have policies at mcguffy that give teachers the opportunity and the resources to be able to help students who

are having trouble why do we need this i know he says it's the law not he not dr gatrin i know it is a law but my point with that is is it school boards have jury nullification they don't have to just follow suit with everything if they don't see that it's appropriate for their for their for their school district does mcguffy really truly have um you know these kind of traumas that they need this kind of approach do are our students so traumatized in mcguffy that we need this kind of approach that our teachers need to be trained on how to approach students with multiple traumas even more training than what they already have um i don't see it um you know others have mentioned that you know they've had their own traumas i've

had my own traumas too i certainly didn't need a teacher to to help me um with my trauma um you go other places for that um anyways my other item is non-agenda so as long as we're still doing non-agenda and agenda items at the different times i can speak on the rest of that then please keep the vaccine clinics off of the school off the school grounds and please table this trauma-informed approach so we can get some more clarification as a community as a whole i do think we need that thank you thank you mr group that is all for agenda items all right thank you very much before we go on i i'm going to ask a question i've never heard this is there a rule that parents are not allowed in the facility

while their kids are practicing at the elementary level or it i never is that a building rule is that a district rule is that in a policy somewhere uh so um i spoke to chief still asking about this and chief are you here i'll have to go and speak to it correctly so it's a it's not a policy something we mandated last year with our youth wrestling program because of the facility we where we have them at is very small facility and again when we have youth basketball down at claysville there's not a large area to have a huge crowd in there so that's why we limit it to to the uh to nobody attending we can't select who gets to come in and who doesn't get to come in so when you say we

mandate who's we uh mr mckee and i talked to about it together a facility director mr mckee and then uh we consulted dr oberg with that is there a maximum amount of people out in that particular square foot of space so the real the part of the issue is that the free coming and going um you know we don't know of the the group who belongs who doesn't belong you know maybe we need to get a tighten it up as far as if they come in they have to come in and stay in come in with their kids come in and stay in part of that issue is again with covet with all the um you know who gets infected who doesn't get infected you know it's it's a since it's a common use space

you know there are some guidelines in place as far as outbreaks and so on um you know we're trying to just minimize uh you know the risk factor for people that shouldn't be in there as opposed to those that should and also you know on a cleaning basis uh you know we're just that's what we're trying to do is just kind of walk that that middle ground between you know keeping the facility usable but also keeping it uh you know reasonably safe so and you're saying it's related to the covenant well some of it from my family i've been watched my kids before that's been years ago but i didn't realize it changed from from a facility cleaning stand point of view yes that's you know my concern is yes the less traffic that i

have in the building the less chances there are you know it's just a just a fact you know the less less people are in there the less chance you have for contamination of any type so i guess my concerns are twofold number one as a parent my elementary kid is playing a sport i can tell you when my when my child was that age i was at every practice no matter where he was um i just didn't feel comfortable dropping him off somewhere and not being there where i can see if he needs help or what exactly is going on with the adults that are in the room i i have a real problem with that as a parent but the second problem i have is um that this kind of rule was just made

without any input from the board without any input from the parents without any but like that we could just make a rule well i don't know i'll speak to that i think that's something that as a superintendent asked me to do more daily right is that i'm looking out for the welfare of student staff faculty anyone who walks into our building so uh in constitution with uh both of them that's how that decision was made now i will tell you uh you know having heard from the parents and we can definitely look at ways in which we can have possibly a space for families parents uh that are bringing their kids to the physical um site to look at if there's a possibility but again i i go with my folks telling me this is

what the concerns were and i agree yeah i think as long as we can get some cooperation from the you know coaches or leaders or sponsors or you know whatever of the group he is you know because you know like chief zaminski he'll he has one officer there you know again we're not familiar with the people that belong the people that don't belong um you know part of our training here at school you know we have the alice program you know for intruders and and so on well that still has to extend you know after hours and and so on and from you know i think i'm okay speaking here with you know chief takes that very seriously but if we can get some cooperation from you know those sponsors and and so on so

that they can help um you know set the tone and set the expectations one suggestion my school we we allow the parents to come to any event but what we do is we ask all the parents who want to attend events to fill out the necessary background the volunteer background information and then they are added to our security or our clearances list and we can check that off and we know when they enter that they're signing in and they're sagging out when they're leaving i mean there's other there's other ways to go about this other than saying to parents no you're not allowed is my my thing so do you want the coaches to take the time to i don't know behind the parents i don't know if somebody i mean i i do think

that there are other other things that we could consider than simply saying to a parent i'm stuck on the elementary show like you know it's one thing for your high school kids right your high school kids are pretty self-autonomous right but my elementary kid my youth kid yeah i'm sorry i'm going to want to be there when your kids were out five playing that level you were there right i just think there's other things we could we could you know again some cooperation from whoever's in charge of that group and so on so we will you know take another look at that and see what we can do to find that compromise middle ground that you know helps to you know we'll make everybody happy but hopefully we can satisfy all the groups thank you

i appreciate that on the side of caution we're trying yes we're we're trying and i know it you know swings the pendulum pretty far pretty fast and you know for that we you know apologize for that you know but again we're certainly willing to take a look at it and we'll we'll talk to the the users of the buildings and see what we can come up with thank you i appreciate that is is there a square footage issue or not it's more of a security it's more of a security and an organizational thing you know um you know again people tend to wander the buildings you know or people will bring their other children with them which we understand sometimes a necessity but sometimes because they're in a gymnasium for for sake you know those

kids will go out in the corner and they'll be running around over here and you know so again it's going to re require some cooperation from them but certainly we'll we'll do some more exploration there well that's all we can ask thank you thank you thank you all right we're on monthly action items the emotion approved the minutes of the october 21st 2021 schedule so we're looking at submitting a motion second any questions on the motion all those in favor of the motion signify by saying aye aye opposed motion passes in a motion to approve the general fund schedule bills from october 2nd 2021 to november 18 2021 check number 74703 second motion second any questions on the motion this motion is for 778 131.77 says submit it any other questions on the motion all

those in favor of the motion signify by saying aye aye opposed motion passes motion approved the food service schedule of bills dated november 18 2021 check number 7600 to 7602 in the amount of 57 thousand seven hundred dollars motion a second any questions on the motion all those in favor of the motion signify by saying aye aye opposed which passes in motion approve the treasurer's report for the month of october i did he was thank you though i really appreciate it that one was a really short one which one i'm not which one number four approval treasures report all those in favor of the motion signify by saying opposed motion passes this is uh superintendent's report tenure status yes mr president to announce that the following teachers have reached 10 years there's only three second

years of satisfactory teaching in mcguffy the first is caitlyn heider caitlin is our high school life skills teacher recently was married and our second is our first great teacher at playsville it's lindsey conley congratulations congratulations emotion approved girls on the running kids of steel school activities at joe walker for the 2021-2022 school year at the cost at no cost of addition second motion segment questions on emotion all those in favor of the motion signify by saying aye aye aye opposed motion passes motion approved curse pharmacy to host a vaccine booster clinic at mcguffy high school for faculty and staff who are interested in receiving the cover 19 vaccine booster shock i make a motion that we um remove this from the from being from the vote all right well no can't i just make a

motion that we not take a vote on it well there's no motion there's nothing to vote on so there has to be a motion first for your motion to move i make a motion two seconds second but i like discussion too now you have my discussion well i think it's clear though i'm sorry can we go one at a time uh have we been approached have we been approached by the teachers about asking for this and staff no we have not been approached by the teachers first and i think it's fairly clear as our health and safety plan actually says and it was mentioned several times tonight that well it specifically says when requested provide brochures and other information to staff and students about receiving any type of vaccination at sites outside of the district

so it seems to me that we would be against going against our health and safety plan to then offer something inside of our district and i have not none of the faculty or staff to whom i've spoken have expressed an interest and it seems to me that it would just it could lead to more division more discord more bullying even among adults that's a real thing um so i am not in favor of it at all so uh last month we held a click here for the flu again the clinic was held for our our staff our teachers as a courtesy to them and that was something that again we hold every year it does not require the staff to come to ask for that that's been done prior to my my being here well

i would object to that too but that wasn't brought before us it was okay and again that was also uh agreed to before this one to play the facilities oh well that was my question i was trying to say even though it's been done in the past with the change in the facility it was this was before that actually was that was agreed to a while a while ago what i'm just suggesting is uh for those that had concerns about faculty and staff a few members came to me wasn't as if i'm having staff members come to you but i understand this there were over 90 staff members that partaked in the moderna vaccination and while over 40 that partaked in the johnson johnson was one shot so we have well over 130 folks that

have already taken the show this is a booster and again it's only meant for adults and they can get that anywhere they don't need to get that at the school i just think our community has been very vocal about the fact that we should not be turning our school into a medical facility and again i think it's a direct violation of our own board approved health and safety plan we also do blood drives here correct okay we do blood drives here okay well maybe that audit believe me i give blood on a regular basis every 56 days and i have to go somewhere and it's not here so maybe we shouldn't do that either i don't mean to sound negative if i think if we're holding a food kenny just because we've said we've always

done that well sometimes they have to change the way we do things doesn't mean that it's still going to be right i'm not for it i'm just not for any kind of because we've moved now to a different place in our society and that's just no longer going to be acceptable not at all that's my comment and again it's in violation of our board-approved health and safety plan for this vaccine for this vaccine other questions on the motion roll call mr haynes no mr harden no miss jackson no mr leisure yes mr ross no miss shingle no mr group no thank you you're motioned to approve the application for homebound instruction for student b grade nine for medical reasons second all those in favor of the motion signify by saying aye aye opposed motion passes

coverage i can tell you because i bought all the microphones for our sound system that won't even cover one microphone no that's not it's not going to cover the whole do we have any uh what it might be well i'm not familiar with joe walker's sound system i mean just for their cafeteria i don't know what we need i can't comment that we could ask mckee to give us an idea i don't know what's down there okay mr mckee can you find that out and let me know personally because i'd like to contribute also um this came out of the veterans day program that we had there um there's two things that makes this job worthwhile one of them is graduation the second one's the veteran's day ceremony the first veterans day ceremony that we

had at joe walker [Music] after it was done i walked out and there was two veterans standing on the sidewalk one of them was in tears and the other one was talking to him and i went over and asked him everything was all right the gentleman who was in tears said you don't understand [Music] i was in vietnam 50 years ago and nobody's ever thanked me that same thing happened again this year what these people went through especially our vietnam veterans but all veterans [Music] they're still struggling and this program that was put on by all the schools in the district is very valuable i think for the healing process not only the thank you process and it also gives our younger students an opportunity to be educated of what the veterans have done and

so if there's additional money that's needed i'd i'd just like to know um i would help raise that money there was actually a veteran there that i'm not positive may have been from world war one it's very rare world war one maybe world war ii world war ii yeah that's right i mean world war ii sorry about that he was about 90 96 or 97 years old and he stood the whole entire time in his naval uniform he didn't even get him a chair thank you mr group he had a chair he actually had three of them i think and um he was so honored that he stood the whole time yeah those uh programs are pretty cool and our kids love my staff did an awesome job i mean so back to this did
