emotional second any questions on emotion no but just for clarification for the public um they would be doing um the physicals for sports correct and also yeah any other questions on emotion all those in favor of the motion signify by saying aye aye opposed motion passes facilities used you awake i am awake as you can see there we've had a total of 30 since the last board meeting uh five of those were commuting the rest were coordinated events very good budget expenditure report there for your review cafeteria report andrews and price no report tonight mr president uh apart from what we set forth in executive session thank you very much western area career and technology center report we don't have a meeting in july we do in august but um i will put out if

anybody can help us we lost the electrical occupational instructor unexpectedly and there's a lot of kids that are signed up for the class if we can't find anybody by the middle of august we're gonna have to cancel the entire class wow so if anybody knows anybody that has any any ties to or would be willing to think about trying to take this class over be really helpful because some of our students are here as well what you need is like an electrician they don't have to have an advanced degree exactly they don't even have that well they just need four years experience four years experience they have to do some take some classes but yeah well then they would have to commit to being certified because they could give them an emergency certification and then

that person would then work towards getting certified so yeah i just wanted that is this residential or commercial or it's a basic learning it's just basic wirelessly contact wactc yeah or maybe i could get to them or something if you know anybody that can do it actually know somebody that i might see all right uh i don't know i don't have that in front of me i mean it's not going to be you can probably make more electrical uh operas right but yeah yeah i don't remember what that it's you know it's yeah they would they would base it on experience and yeah it's not just it's just not just a straight check the school board association report um just a reminder that fall advocacy day is october 14 2021 so if you're interested in

attending that that's a great way to connect with the state legislatures um and advocate for not just public schools in general but mcguffy uh in particular um senate bill 1 passed everybody knows that it's 95 pages long if you're dying to read it i've read it i'm disappointed miss todd can probably speak to this not as much as i would have liked to have seen as far as pay deductions to charter schools but it is what it is um it is at appropriations it's been amended um it has not passed i misspoke i'm sorry it's out of appropriations it's been amended it is set to go to the general assembly for a vote when they return in august so um it looks like it'll pass such an on that zone how much of the charter

reform is in there like what what ended up yeah i sent it to you guys at one point it's like 250 per student for the first year yeah what's the old adage [Music] there's lots of stuff in there they increased um funding um for eitc there's just a lot that's in there but i know of concern to us was the amount that we pay to charge also um just so that you know that um i'm sorry i wanted to also make mention the budget was passed as everybody really knows um and with that psba does offer like a a webinar on a budget update if you really want to get into the minutia of the state budget and that's your your thing they do offer that and you could sign up and attend and get

down into the nitty-gritty that's not my thing but go for it and uh advocacy did end as far as being able to put in requests for things that that we would like them to look at um i know this has come up before the emergency connectivity fund we just looked at that so all of that going forward that's just kind of where we are uh it's been really kind of slow since they've been on recess which is good because there for a while it was like what's going on thank you zoey what did you think of their email that they sent to us on the critical race theory um my response to that is uh and i think i've been fairly clear on this that those kinds of decisions are best left to the individual

district and they really kind of muddied the waters as far as trying to connect critical race theory as being some kind of a misunderstanding of what it is and there's no misunderstanding about if critical race theory is about division and racism right that's just clear now i will tell you i do have serious questions and one question that came as a result of that particular email that i have is as a district do we have other equity uh focused initiatives in mcguffey because there's a huge difference between equity and equality so they made it sound as if every district is working on equity focused initiatives so i left me questioning are we you're asking me that question yeah it's not something i'm focused on yeah so that would be my response to them i thought

it was very slanted to be quite frank by the way i just sort of comment that's not code for anything i'm sorry that's not code for anything i'm just saying that's not a focus yeah teaching and learning is our focus thank you before we adjourn a couple of things number one now that the health and safety plan has been approved and we are not requiring distancing and masking um would we be able to take down the signs for those in the buildings [Music] yes yes the answer is yes thank you and remember we'll take them down tonight i believe it will be up to the school to take them down but i appreciate your passion uh and a member of the community had asked us to consider tonight either making a vote or putting it

on the agenda for next month to increase the speaking time from 5 minutes to 10 minutes okay i make the motion that we increase the speaking time from five minutes to ten minutes on second here we have emotional second questions on emotion i i haven't do have a question if you do that you're talking about tonight's session you'll be about three hours so i think you might need to have a two-night meeting well i will say before this meeting and and when before the public comment i was gonna think about raising it to six minutes and then um we went with the five minutes and it seemed okay they went over a couple people went over a little bit you guys know where i stand i i've brought this up before i think it's a

slap in the face to have it limited at all we've increased from i think it was three to five i would compromise at seven but they asked specifically for us to look at ten so i'm putting forth what they ask okay we'll vote on it so i'll second that amendment all right so now you're voting on the um now you're voting on the amendment to uh amend the motion to seven correct okay let's do any other questions on emotion oh they don't need roll calling roll call please yes yes [Music] yes no amended i would like to note though just because they're seven minutes doesn't mean everybody's going to take all the time but true and then one other thing is and i have asked i asked last month for us to consider and i've

asked in the past about moving the executive session time to earlier in the meeting has anyone given that any thoughts we talked about it and i forget what we said earlier yeah we did talk about maybe doing it like call the meeting to order and um do the pledge and then go to executive session somebody else suggested we have public comment and then go which is what we currently do later on um my suggestion was to do it prior to public comment so that when we come out from executive session with recommendations they know what they are and they can address those at that time i'll just i'll mention something we had that a long time ago we used to actually have two of them and we broke it down because because during the meeting

you have some people they'll say i want to call for an executive session to go back based on something that's happened in the meeting or something it's voted on so if we have with the beginning you could have a chance to have one at the end or somewhere through it so yeah that's why you put in the middle yeah we had them several times more than once that's why i did because we were having several times moving in and out getting out and out and said listen let's just keep it try to keep it because it became a problem then yeah that's all i don't have a problem either way i just just said that's what we did i don't either we also used to have separate like public comment on agenda items and then

later public comment on non-agenda and i get that a lot of that changed because of the dynamics with the remote which i really prefer that they still the meeting still be available for participation remotely so i don't have a problem with that but it's totally i'm just putting it out there well i help me understand why you want to move it forward i think some of it is there are a lot of people who who want to remain there are some who would like to know what's coming out of executive session but by that point i mean it gets you tired and they want to go home and they've already sat through keep in mind we we advertised the meeting to begin at seven but technically it begins when immediately after the committee meeting so

some of them have been sitting here since six o'clock you guys know committee meeting we never know it could be 15 minutes it could be tonight it was close to an hour you know so i think it's just kind of all of that we used to have two committees to a committee meeting and a separate board meeting yeah then we came became because was it then we said we want a committee of the hole so we put the committee meeting at before the board meeting so we could have one full meeting right we used to have separate committees that met which makes me think that maybe the better way to advertise that is committee meeting at six immediately followed by the regular board meeting because there are a lot of people who are confused i

get questions all the time what time what time yeah i don't know i guess i i my two cents on moving the executive session i i agree with that where sometimes there's things that come up and you might need another one yeah but it's not all the time so no i don't know yeah i don't have any heartburn but i don't have any heartburn leaving it where it is either i mean i don't know i'm okay with it so um [Music] yeah i'm not gonna go either way i didn't entertain a motion to adjourn so second motion second all those in favor of the signal pop by saying aye aye opposed we are adjourned at 10 50 p.m
