symbol which is a paw print there are several special events in fourth grade for example pillow popcorn and pajamas night is when we come back to Woodland and and play games all night the fourth grade social is a day when fourth graders go to a park to social to socialize with it other other events at Woodland are fonde and field trips there Woodland is a great place to learn there are a bunch of ways you can get smarter and more fluent math social studies science and more teachers work with students in small groups and there are a lot of teachers helping in every grade the most exciting and fun teachers they they're V they're very nice and kind to everyone here are some facts about wooden one even though it can be challenging as sometimes

Woodland is an amazing place to learn two if you like to make many new friends Wooden is a place for you you will definitely make new friends at Woodland three teachers make fun and engaging lessons to make learn learning extremely motivating and fun we learn play and grow at Woodland and that's why it's a great place I'd like to thank my friends Andrew Delonte Michael Stanley Joseph Bennett they helped me a lot without them I would not have done [Applause] this let's give one more round of applause to Malik and to Vinnie thank you [Applause] both let's go around and can't [Applause] [Music] all right um moving on with the agenda the public is hereby advised of the audio and video recording of this meeting for the purposes of rebroadcasting by way of attendance all

board members are in attendance now it's time for recognition of guests and scheduled speakers Dr Zerby thank you Madame President this evening we have a number of presentations uh but first it gives me great pride in methacton schools to introduce the district's planetarium director Mr Adam Chantry who earlier this evening provided a sneak preview to the newly renovated malan planetarium to our Board of school directors the Education Foundation board and state representative Joe Webster and who will this evening share with you the results of this educational investment that will not only provide our students and Community with unique and Powerful learning space equipped with the latest technology and curriculum but adds to our Collective commitment to the stem education for all students in methon school district Mr Chantry thank you very much uh Dr zby

for those of you who don't know me I'm Adam Chantry I'm the plarium director here at meth Acton and this is just kind of a quick update on the Horizon Project our new renovations to um our planetarium I want to thank all of the um board members the administration that have been so supportive through this thing they've included me in the whole process as this is you know my classroom where I teach dayto day and they've really let me had a voice in in what we were doing and I I really really appreciate that so on the next slide you'll see um this is what the goals that I had presented um originally back um on uh in March of the year of of uh th's there's our goals this is what we set out

to do we we set out to um increase the capacity of of our students and we did that we increased that by about 15% going from 60 seats to 70 seats um we want to increase the use of co-curricular lesson capabilities so um you know interacting with classroom teachers our new software really does allow us to do that I'll I'll talk a little bit more about that and you'll see that in um in the video presentation here um and then just updating and future proofing this this um I'm happy to report we went through uh um and everything is up to date there there's no extra things that are that are going to fail in the near future that oh well we did everything but this and we'll we'll we'll work with that when it

when it happens everything is up to date um ready to go hopefully for um next year will be our 50th Anniversary hopefully for another 50 years we're you know um good to go so there's just a a short video that um uh Amanda Kelly put together um with me and it to just kind of give you a preview of the space if you haven't seen it yet um this was give you just kind of a a brief look but please come out we have public shows the third Wednesday of every month you can find information about those on the website at me.org Planetarium and see it for yourself in person so we can uh show that video now of the next one hi welcome to the mton school district's new M planetarium come on in

and take a look here at our um newly redone planetarium one of the first things you'll notice here I think as we're watching the uh the Dona circle roll around U Mr Chantry well we'll just move on to the next slide because I'm going to go through everything in the slides that was just kind of a visual representation if you didn't get a chance to to go to the sneak peek um anybody that ever wants to come through the planetarium um you know just shoot me an email a Chantry ata.org you I'm I'm happy to give you a tour um for those in the public you know please come to one of our public events we're also going to have a grand opening um I believe November 30th more of that to to come out

later where everybody is welcome to come through and and see what we've done and I mean it's it's a beautiful space and it's really great for our Learners and things to do so um these are the goals that we that we set out to look at of course everybody's always interested in in the costs here are the costs associated um with the project um and how we funded those with the essers funds um donations from the meakan Education Foundation which we're very very thankful for um uh state representative Webster got us um money from the state to help fund this project also um so many people in the community have reached out and and done work to help support you know this awesome resource for our students and for our community so that's just the

breakdown of the costs and um how we funded those on the next slide so one of the big upgrades we did was the the software system that we have in there and and some of the things that it that it can do that helps us reach those goals um all of the teaching and presentation elements in this program are one in our old system you we had a program that kind of ran astronomy and we could do astronomy things like that and we we had one that would kind of do earth science and you would kind of turn off one and bring on the other and and talk about that and it was a little bit just disjointed for our students now it's all Incorporated into one software we can stay on the earth we

can fly around we can look at geology we can look at all of the science on a sphere data then we can fly right off into space and look at constellations and go visit a black hole and and do it all in one software a lot less transition time um so that transition from earth science which is one of the things that we cover in our planetarium as part of our our school curriculum and then going out to the space science that's a seamless interaction it really shows students that connection of you know it's all one Universe it's all connected together just like our subjects it's not individual subjects it's it's all together so it shows that we also with the new software um have access to a Cloud Library and this is um presentations

models scientific data put on by users around the world the the number of of these planetariums around the world um is a large number and all those planetarium directors create things and they put them up to the cloud I can go in find a presentation download it and and have that ready to go and have that set of data for our students to look at very very quickly very very easily without having to build it all myself it gives me more time to be with students in front of students not just creating lessons um a lot more interactivity it's controlled by an iPad and the one thing that's every seventh grade student all of our seventh graders have been through a few times now in the first couple weeks of school um every one of

them noticed that I had an Xbox controller on my desk and they thought I was playing video games but our planetarium can be controlled by an Xbox controller I can hand out to its student um we had somebody during our preview today just fly around the earth you know it's pretty intuitive once you pick it up so a lot more interactivity there um and then just an increased ease of use for co-curricular activities I compare up with teachers where I used to have to kind of do everything and the other teacher would kind of chime in I can really program it so other teachers can our great music teacher Mr mcaffry and I do a good stuff holds the planets and it was the first week the planetarium opened and I programmed everything onto an

iPad and I gave him about five minutes before class I was like here here's the iPad these are the buttons you push for your part and he was able to go up there and teach his class without me you know while I was doing other things with students and talking to students and engaging with them and he didn't need me to be in charge of that he could teach his curriculum while I was helping and assisting and doing things like that so that really gives us a lot so that's kind of the software end um that that we um upgraded there then kind of the hardware the physical space room itself is on the next slide um if you're in there we incre increased our capacity by over 15% um we went from 60 seats

to 70 seats um we got rid of the center projection which if you were ever in there before there was a big projector in the beginner it was in the middle and it was a little bit of an obstruction for me looking at students students looking at me students looking at the Dome completely unobstructed our first seventh graders were like wow you could see everything and it's it's like really being in space because the projector is not there so that's nice the new seating has added head and neck support um if you ever sat in our old planetarium for more than 15 minutes the the seats kind of hit you right in the middle of the back and even for students it was it was really uncomfortable after you in there for more than a

couple of minutes um now the seats are padded and they have the neck and back um support so you can look up for longer and be engaged and and not be worrying about how your back feels and you need to get up and go to the bathroom because you can't sit anymore it it makes it a lot a lot easier and then all of the infrastructure in the facility was was gone through and replaced and and done up so you know we really have a a brand new facility in there ready to go and then really on our next slide um just the past and the future so next fall 2024 will be the 50th anniversary of the the planetarium um inspiring our students and and this project has really set you know hopefully beginning

another 50 years of in educating and inspiring you know our stars of tomorrow and just really a great resource for our district for a long time coming um I thank you all for your time and all of your support and help throughout this whole process and I I really look forward to seeing everybody in the planetarium so come on out and see it thank you very much and have a great evening thank you Mr Chantry uh we really appreciate your leadership and uh your explanation here this evening I know before we go into the next presentation our president has an update yeah just an attendance note because my line of sight was obscured I apologize that Mr rol had let us know of his excused absence tonight so he is not here next on the

good evening it is definitely um great to be back before you this evening and share some updates with you from the office of diversity equity and inclusion um so first this work did not take a break especially over the summer as our Administration spent time over the summer with Tom ster and Associates while eight of our students between our Cola and the high school attended a life skills leadership conference with myself that was led by Tom ster and Associates we will continue to build capacity arounds belonging by welcoming back Tom ster and Associates to myth Acton for another year of work around social emotional life skills and positive School climate tomorrow and and Thursday another cohort of 70 teachers will participate in the fall cohort of professional development with a focus on making social emotional

skills in classrooms and integrating this within their academic content across the four sessions of development teachers will grow in their ability to build a classroom community of belonging all of our schools had a great start to the year our building leaders welcomed our myth active students into their buildings with assemblies or town halls to create a community of belonging for all our high school campus took school spirit and connection to another level by having a spirit day for all students each class has a class color and t-shirt and shared in a collective High School Funday where there was an activity for all students these activities included playing basketball football video games watching movies spending time in the library or enjoying a beverage at the Windy Hill Cafe methacton schools continued this Spirit of Unity by

celebrating Unity day last week Unity day is a day to celebrate kindness inclusion and acceptance at ARC to8 schools each campus chose a day where all students would wear orange our five six and seven eight buildings created interactive bulletin boards made by our students our high school celebrated spirit week that ended with our homecoming weekend throughout the week students dressed in themes such as Barbie and Ken or mytha and green and white while ending our Friday in another Spirit day where each class wore their class colors and spent the afternoon on the field for a pep rally focused on methacton school pride I want to share a special thank you to miss Griffith and Miss Palmer at the high school our counselors building liaison and building administrators for their support in creating a community of

belonging in our schools and that's all for this evening thank you thank you very much um next we will move to um the Intermediate Unit and North monco technical career center Miss ree so uh the IU met on um octo uh excuse me on uh September 27th we do not have an uh October meeting uh I just wanted to quickly the H Human Resources gave a presentation and just for those unaware how how much mciu does at in 2018 they had 575 employees and now they have over 800 employees and one of the biggest growth areas was early intervention and that affects many of our students who live in methacton getting the the help before they come to kindergarten um a little bit more of a shout out to the IU if those who remember

they helped Harrisburg and Chester um up up school districts kind of get back on their feet and both of those school districts are now completely on their own running independently and the reason I bring that up is because we're so lucky to have the resources at the mciu and they're so strong that even other districts in other parts of the state reach out um also just in Montgomery County in general you know when we were talking about um uh renewing Dr zerby's contract and all the Educators that come out of Montgomery County for those on a where the superintendent at lower Marian became the Secretary of Education at Pennsylvania that leaves a spot at lower Maran the Upper Dublin superintendent now is the superintendent at lower Maran there's all kinds of movement that goes on

and you may not think oh that affects us but it could and it does for example um so now Upper Dublin has a spot for superintendent and if I have this right um I think the p one of the PV assistant supers going somewhere the Abington High School is going to pen Ridge there's always movement and that is why we always are happy to um have our staff um hopefully stay at Ma Acton and continue to grow in their roles um the last thing I will say is to remind everybody about the um November 10th evening and next nove November is my last meeting at the IU so if anybody who is thinking of being the representative for the IU wants to talk to me about what it entails you can Mr Winters was before

me I find it very rewarding to be part of the IU and all the wonderful things coming out of there so that's my IU report and if it's okay I'll go right into North monco we met on um uh October 16th we did the audit audit report review if anyone would like to look at it no problems or issues we also approved the comprehensive plan we met the um student of the month who I don't know if Erica works with her but she was a baking student she was wonderful speaking of the baking and Erica who was on our um on our board here board members 1218 is the holiday dinner you will be receiving a invitation so um any new board members who have not been able to attend it's a really wonderful event

um as far as other business we the the IU is always working on the excuse me the North monco is always working on the weit list um there's we want as many students to be able to attend North monco as possible so there's still 108 students on the wait list but that is more that is 100 less than last year so they've done a really good job at that the biggest weight list is in the Health Sciences so they are looking into possibly increasing another opportunity of Health Sciences into sports medicine and rehabilitation so we will be hearing more about that and the November meeting Liz just so you're aware and of course Dr Zerby knows since he is the uh representative superintendent our November meeting is virtual and that's it for me thank you

Miss ree um and now it's great tonight to see our student board representative Leah Leah Zang and Erica sincere for their report good even ladies and gentlemen for those who may not know me my name is Erica and I will be covering one part of our happenings in our high school about 21 High School students attended the career Expo field trip October 24th to explore activities products and service availabilities our students are able to learn our career Pathways network with area employers and trading providers that makes sense sorry y'all the manaon boys cross country team will approved their record to 3 to one after beating owj Roberts 15 to 50 on the 19th of October our boys and girls cross country teams competed in the PAC Interventional golfer Kate Thomas qualified for the PIAA District

concerning the right to know legal bills and and a lawsuit relating to the right to no process I will speak uh I'll will ask the to speak about the the lawsuit but I also want the board to be aware that we anticipate a significant increase in the legal fee cost in the coming months given the significant number of and complexity of requests received recently as an example we received 12 requests uh recently and 10 of those requests contained over 119 individual subparts uh so as an example one of their requests seeks information that covers 23 years of data um while we have a full-time staff person uh who's committed to and dedicated to the right to know uh processing we do anticipate that requiring much more assistance from our legal firm to respond to these

matters and again this is just trying to keep you up the speed and then with in terms of the the the lawsuit uh Mr Summers sure just briefly um the the lawsuit of the matter that was referenced was um an appeal that the district brought um relative to a a right to know uh determination by the Pennsylvania office of open records um when those uh determinations are are issued the school district or the agency that is the subject of the request does have an opportunity to appeal that uh to court and there is a 30-day window within which to do that in this instance uh the administration consulted with its right to know Council and made a determination that it was in the district's interest to do so um the decision was dated July 24th

the appeal was filed on August 23rd um the invoices or the uh bills that are on the agenda for approval tonight are are the right to no legal fees for July and August and so I would anticipate that any of the costs associated with that appeal um are included within those two bills that are on the agenda thank you any other questions or comments from the board M Mr Winters Yeah Tim there were some questions last week related to uh Chromebook leases I don't know I know you were out unfortunately but uh maybe we can get back to these and then there was a question about the Amazon Prime membership of $779 and there was additionally a question related to um on the the high school planning committee on the uh time frame for uh

payments going out 25 or 30 years if you could just explain what that was just as a model with pfm so the starting with the last one The Debt Service was just an example the pfm generated $100 million borrowing $140 million borrowing and $180 million borrowing just to give an example on today's rates and what the impact would be to our debt service um those informations like I said are based on today's rates and could be used in any different multiple reasons yeah Mr berer specifically what the question was was can uh the district take um bonds out Beyond 25 years yes okay and then the other question leases I don't know there was $160,000 uh Chromebook lease sure we uh actually budget close to $700,000 a year on Chromebook leases um we get pretty

good rates right now we're with Vantage on the leases and we do and we do those leases in three or four years four years four years okay thank you that was that was the question whether it was a a three four or a fiveyear lease so it's four year lease and the last item was why the Amazon Prime membership was $779 I'd have to look at that um off the top of my head I think it's because of the number of users that we need throughout the school district to be able to place the orders plus the fact that automatically processes them right through our uh financial information system when they're approved it actually goes right into our system and creates the POS so I have to look into that and I'll get back to

the board on that okay thank you any other questions or comments under fiscal Mr just a quick question um I had asked I thank you for clarifying that Dr Zerby and Mr Summers um I had asked because I wasn't at the meeting last month and so when I watched it I was taken back by one of the comments so you're saying it's an appeal correct that's correct it was an appeal of a of a office of open records decision okay so a lawsuit is an incorrect term it depends on on exactly what each person means by lawsuit but it's clear that it it was a court filing um and the caption of that case was methacton school district versus Pennsylvania office of open records thank you so much any any other questions or comments under

fiscal seeing none all in favor any opposed that carries 8 Z thank you thank you next is Personnel Dr sorini thank you Madame President good evening for the consideration of the board this month we have the Personnel items as presented last week of the work session with the following additions two Employments classified Marne udis personal care assistant at Sky View and parvathi sasami recess assistant at Woodland we welcome Marne and parvathi to the methacton family supplemental contracts for teched equipment support with a further clarification of the specific contracts and the addition of winter coaches for The 2324 season one classified substitute list Edition Daniel McFarland custodial casual on call we welcome Daniel to the methacton family and one change of status administrative Dr Deborah uker from principal of Woodland Elementary School to princip principal of

items as presented Miss clear and a second miss canro any questions or comments on Personnel Mr mcginness Dr serini stole a lot of my thunder but uh just can't Express how grateful I am of the depth and breadth of The Talented bench that we had within this district and to see Dr uker just continue her climb and dedication to this district is just really it's all inspiring so uh I almost said I hope you do a great job I know you'll do a great job Dr Grain is moving up into another role and whoever gets the job at Woodland will probably be just as good so it's a reflection of all of you people and the jobs that you do every day so um just thank you and most of these votes are I hate

to say rubber stamped uh but not tonight I I couldn't be more enthusiastic about Dr yuker taking over in January so thank you well said and I know Woodland is gonna miss Dr uker um any other comments Miss ree I won't uh repeat everything Dr serini did a great job uh as well as Mr mcginness um it I was going to say you know since I came here it was Dr serini Dr graines Dr uker before that Dr Landis our high school has been in phenomenal hands which um it is that the bench that uh Mr mcginness spoke about I did want to say um because of the transition of three principles and which is has been so smooth it I haven't seen a problem at all if either Dr graines or Dr uker separately

or together could look at that front office job I think Dr graines and I know Dr uker is so student centered like they that's what comes across to me is how just how very student centered they are if we could just look at that front office I know myself I had to they I felt terrible as a parent I they had to deal with three of my kids today because they all had to be picked up for different things and I'm just a little worried about that front office I just since there's a this is a good time to look at that if we could do that and then the only other thing on HR is um the winter coaches are here looks great there's small all vacancies and I believe the season starts officially

November 17th so we have some time and I assume we're looking pretty good there we are and Mr smck is continuing to look to fill those vacancies any other questions or comments from board members seeing none all in favor any oppose that carries 8 Z thank you madam president and congratulations congratulations drer get a gift a hug thank you thank you very much were kind you us all right there is nothing listed this evening under curriculum and programs and next we have policy Mr Regina thank you Miss alustin uh for this evening just a couple items under first read we talked about last week uh specific to 304.8 and nepotism making those changes to be consistent with policy 304 add an additional language to covering threat assessment language for policy 247 in hazing and then

finally removing language for evaluation of employees that's already in the ACT 13 law um specific to Improvement plans uh no additional changes to the second readings which is on vote for this evening thank you thank you very much may I have a motion motion to approve all policies under second reading this evening Miss Clary and may I have a second Miss Purdue any questions or comments for the policies under second read seeing none all in favor any opposed that carries 8 Zer thank you next we have other Dr Zerby thank you madam president uh under gifts and donations uh we approved generous Gifts of blackmond giving fund which is an employer match incentive for Leanne Lopez uh for element or for eille elementary school in the amount of $200 approve the generous gift of buckmon

chapter PA Society of tax and accounting professionals uh for the high school expense for future Business Leaders in the amount of $828 and then uh approve uh Dewey engineering Incorporated of Bethlehem PA to serve as construction manager owners rep Representatives as presented uh pending review of contractors for by by the solicitor which includes a $22,500 per month month retainer fee which is a reduction of of $1,900 per month from our former construction management firm it is a one-year agreement with a 30-day notice for non-renewal with with a non-exclusivity uh Clause with with no exclusive I'm sorry with no exclusivity clause and with a fee structure for major capital and summer projects as presented uh in the presentation by Dr zini on octo October 17th and then under transportation it has approved the following drivers as

part of the transportation employee roster as listed thank you may I have a motion to approve the items under other please Mr mcginness may I have a second Miss Reese any questions or comments yeah okay Mr mcginness um one of the questions was around fidevia um going back here off of memory but fidevia uh put in a submitt for the request for proposal correct that is correct and there was certain thresholds I'm assuming specs that all of the biders had to meet and anyone that was considered a viable candidate was above that line that that is correct there actually it's a it's a I think uh Dr serini presented that it was a four-round process uh there were uh rubrics associated with the scoring of of the submittal both on paper and through the interview

process and our current bid that we're voting on right now is less expensive than what we were paying just last year that is correct currently paying correct that is correct so we have an equal or better for less money said another way right an equal or better owners rep for I I would agree with that okay thank you I just want to make another comment if I could so one of the other comments was um around you know what uh do we engineering knows that you know someone else doesn't know um the truth of of the matter is when we sent out these requests for proposals we included in there the master facilities plan and if you know that plan um has a number of projects spread over a 10-year period and don't quote me

on this exact number but you know it's it's estimated over 10 years maybe 200 230 some million dollars so in that plan all also is uh a a proposed uh project by zone of the high school which can vary from some 50 uh uh million dollars to you know some some other R I don't remember all those numbers off the top of my head I don't have here but that plan is available um it's something we've been providing not only as a point of discussion in our property committee meetings but we included that as part of the response because we needed to make sure that our responders knew exactly what they were getting involved with so I want to make sure that everyone uh knows that and then in terms of of of where we

are and in in in the conversation of the Manton high school campus planning committee it's really important for everyone not only to understand that this is a starting point for for the conversation of putting together a comprehensive plan but as the executive officer of this District I need to I need to make sure that before I lead people down path I have some reasonableness and some understanding of what it is that we there there could be potential so if if I'm saying I'm not saying to the community that we should build a school I'm not saying to the community we should renovate the school I'm saying to the community that uh this district has before them an opportunity to make the best decision possible for the next 50 years and that could con combine a

number of different opportunities and the truth is the potential uh in regards to our ability to afford new construction or to afford renovation is is in the is in the hands of of the things that we want to build and we want to renovate it it it really means that we have to make the right considerations for tomorrow and the next 50 years that's just not putting putting the blinders on following a plan that we started in 2016 saying let's just fix the HV and then we'll worry $30 million later about what we're going to do because at that point it's over decisions made for you it's made for me I I made the decision and and thank God we we got to the point back in October to pause on the matter because with

that if because if we didn't do that we'd be in a high school renovation uh process and there's no looking back and so are you going to solve traffic matters are you going to solve parking matters are you going to solve some of the Aesthetics are you going to solve some of the accessibility are you going to be able to solve some of the sustainability what is it that we need to plan for in the ne for the next 50 years it's not just hbac so that's where we are that's where we're going and we're going to try to give the board the opportunity to see all the information uh whether it's for this or for that but this committee is at least uh comprised of stakeholders within the community it may not be what

you all decide at some point in the future you may decide not to use any of those recommendations I don't know I don't know what they are yet I think we're all curious to to uh to see how they how this all pans out we're we're curious in February what that presentation will look like and then the the the nine members of the board that that will sit at this table at as part of that presentation you know we could either decide yeah we're going to take all the recommendations move forward we're not going to take any of the recommendations a combination of of some of the recommendations maybe some new ideas you might send us back to the drawing board you say just stop we're going to go and we're going to we're going

to just follow the uh the master plan so there there there's no set decision but it is important for you to understand that there's no game here uh other than to making sure that we give you information so that we can make a future good decision so thank you and that's ends my comments on this matter and I just had a quick question just to taking a step back did the the RFP process around this this was part of a cycle was was there time still left on the fidevia contract and or was this just part of a regular cycle of looking at the provider Mr bicker I believe their contract would have ended this coming year is that correct or or do you recall Jun 30th June 30th so so either we would have

renewed uh the the uh the former uh and uh and or done this process and we chose uh because we've been like we do with all of our vendors and and you know this we do it with our insurance providers we do it with uh you know our our technology providers we we go out after a certain number of years and say okay you know are we getting the best price it's always fair to check that and it's it's our responsibility to do that so it was just a good matter of business practice as the contract was coming to thank you any other questions or comments under other seeing none all all in favor any opposed that carries 8 Z thank you um next is dates for board members calendars uh I will make a

note that the education committee meeting is on a Wednesday not at Tuesday um do any board members have anything for old or new business Mr Winters yeah um Dr Zerby or I guess uh Tim I believe there was a legislation that Mr mcginness and Miss uh previous Board member Miss Hull have been very active with and all the property committee for that matter to follow up over the last couple years related to the bus arm legislation can somebody speak towards that so uh House Bill 851 was recently passed or Senate Bill 851 was recently passed by both the house and the Senate and signed Monday I believ by the governor it is anticipated that sometime in December we should be able to get the Pennsylvania State Police contract back in force thank you for all

your work on that Mr bicker there was a gentleman that would come to the property committee meeting I hope somebody lets him know if I've been I've been in touch I've been in touch with them and I will alert on that awesome thank you so much Mr mcginness anyone else for old or new business Miss Purdue I just wanted to remind the board that we do have the Pennsylvania School Board Association delegate assembly on November 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. I believe I'm registered I'm not sure but I believe the school board President also get the um emails typically involved looking at the bylaws whether they are new considerations or any additions I believe there's none this year but they also look into the financial updates and Le leadership election results so that

will be on Saturday I believe it's a hybrid and also so you have the option to attend in person or virtual in person is limited to 120 M fact and I think we can have up to three or four delegates so if you're interested just reach out to me or the board um secretary thank you any other old or new Miss Clary jeez now that it's official I I just wanted to say congratulations Dr uker I am so excited for you I'm so excited for the high school and I can't wait to see what new ideas you bring so great job and thank you anyone else all right moving on to Courtesy of the floor opportunity for residents to make comments on matters that are or may be before the board we ask that you

keep your comments to 3 minutes or less and we may choose to respond to matters following the conclusion of comments Jamal gester you building a new school Dave you're like stuck in this spin cycle like you're the the biggest propagandas I've ever seen tell the public the truth what's going to happen five years from now you're Debt Service payment is going to be cut by 50% to $4.8 million a year if you don't build and you don't spend we get a 20% tax reduction just tell the public what's going on it's not hard to fit it's pretty simple after I saw that presentation um get you guys get one of these man fantastic my fact an XL mailer man listen to this 80 plus% of your really state taxes go to the school district these

taxes have increased by an approximate aggregate of 21.5% in the last eight years yet meth Acton's ranking and enrollment has declined and all you want to talk about is a right to know Bills going up or the the the desery propaganda stuff you know I think you guys gota smarten up um I Heard the foundation report talk about one two $1.2 million raised Dave you know how that occurred you know where a lot of that money came from came from you soliciting vendors you even got Mr Bricker involved it's like your foundation it's not their Foundation it's your foundation I think you got to look into it and that got discovered and right to know on the case you took the lawsuit you took all the way to Commonwealth Court and lost that's how that

stuff got discovered so don't don't bash the right to no process but as part of my Foundation report um I found some emails about you providing laptop computers to the foundation now were they yours laptops did you spend your own money on them or did we get that money get that from the taxpayers can you tell us that one because not only did you set a um you know get the um uh computers you had them tied in to the district system how's that work so people could come in have an office sit down use the computer and print that's what you're up to now here's one I I found just amazing this is from the methacton education minutes under new business uh somebody was approached by the art Department from from this school for

assistance on a partnership with the foundation for an art show in April the students will be selling works of art and offering a percentage of the sales to the foundation really we going to open up a Nike shop for the kids too you know they can make Nikes I mean guys com the stuff you're doing is not good anybody else for Courtesy of the floor this evening John Andrews Lower Providence good evening have a goal of a new high school and a bill of 200 million plus another 200 million of bond interest we don't have the AAA rating of of am Maran we don't have their tax rate their millage is 22 ours I think is 33 they spent 30 years planning for their new school how about some real and affordable enhancement of the

the present High School 60 to 80 million can do that over a few Summers with the aid of Architects experienced in renovation that 60 to 80 million is a fair estimate of satisfying all of the shortcomings of the present School for instance the students emphasis on on needs is for an a a second parallel Cara from The West Wing to the east Wing that that could be placed on the second floor and that would satisfy most of the students concerns and the students are the ones that Liv with the high school for four years of their lives the current high school has a has a current value on the order of 150 million putting that to a wrecking ball has little justification little justification and I recommend that you have Architects supports to the recommendations

so that there's some realism to the facts put into a report in February or later thank you thank you anybody else for Courtesy of the floor this evening Jim me moester um two weeks from now two weeks from today is the election and there are seven seats coming up up out of the nine so it is going to be a time for change um in terms of what happens with the district not necessarily with respect to the policy but with respect to some of the people and um I have been very thankful for the service of Mr mcginness and Andrea you as well um you have spent a awful lot of your time and talent and effort to make this District better I have been for the last five years president of the Education Foundation

and uh I'm exceedingly proud of what the foundation has done to advance this District um there have been some comments made tonight and all I'd say is that half truths and in innuendos do not rise to the level of anything that uh should go beyond this evening quite frankly um it's just not right it's just not appropriate and they're wrong I do hope that the people who are watching this who are not yet watching the Phillies game or maybe it's still in the first inning uh will get out and vote I think it's very important for all of us you know I served in the military I served overseas and I believe very strongly regardless of what your political beliefs are that people should get out and exercise their right to vote because if you

don't vote you simply don't have the right to complain about anything so I trust that people will get out and do that last two things there is a field hockey game tomorrow night our field hockey team has won the pack pack 10 Championship they're playing a playoff game at 700 pm and it's at home and I encourage as many of the people here and watching on this video to get out and support our team they're a great bunch of kids um and it's something and it's going to be a beautiful evening as well and the Phillies don't play and the Eagles don't play so I hope everyone will get out and support them and last I just want to Echo what has been said by others I think the selection of Dr uker as our

new principal is an excellent one and I know that she's going to do a fantastic job thank you very much thank you anyone else for Courtesy of the floor this evening [Music] my name is moy jokes and I am a new parent to methon school district I want to thank the board members The Faculty staff and the families of methon school district I appreciate your dedication to our methon community um and as a metha parent Community member I value the importance of a nutritious and well balanced diet and the child's health so I started volunteering um once a week since September this is my first year here and I noticed that there's a lot of food waste that happen so I think to be fiscally responsible um and to provide good nutrition so what I

noticed that snacks provided was ice cream chips um and it's just a lot and cookies and halfway through lunch like kids are offered the opportunity to buy snacks and they wind up throwing away the lunch and waiting for snack time so there's a lot of waste that happens then breakfast time consisted I'm only knowing this because of my children as far as like breakfast it includes um donuts chocolate muffins cinnamon buns um sugary seal sugary SE cereals and Pop-Tarts and I think that we could do better as um as a school just provide like better nutritional foods for for students so that they can learn better so that chronic illnesses has rised in um in our nation as far as like what what kids are experiencing and then it leads to Chronic health conditions such

as like diabetes heart disease strokes and then as a parent and as like a Community member like a value like our kids' future and their they're like our future of our nation so I think that we should really evaluate our lunch program and offer better things and I I know that the school nutrition program is complex I started like reading about it and how reimbursement works and like what students need to buy to be able to get reimbursed by the schools but a lot of is also going to waste so I would really like to partner together so that we could you know be the Forefront and leaders in like children's nutrition at metha and School District so that people look to us or they thinking that our school is great because we really care

about what our you know kids put in their bodies thank you thank you and I'm sorry would would you you mind just repeating your name because I didn't catch it Moy jobson thank you yes good evening Katie theal Lower Providence um I just wanted to come up here real quick to share some of what I've heard about the um committees for the high school and to evaluate the plan of where to go next and I want to also say that I was actively following uh years ago when Arrow when the decision for the arrowhead forward project had to be decided I actively followed that as well I actually actively followed it before that when the decision had to be made about oton so this would be the third one that I'm actively following and I

am not serving on one of the Committees my husband and I had to make a decision because there's three kids and my husband's on the committee I also know many other people people who are serving on the Committees and while I don't know all the ins and outs and details I can tell you what I've heard and what I've heard is really um I've heard some really fantastic feedback on the community view of the on how the community members have been able to walk through the high school and look at the condition of the high school right now and come together and make decisions on what is needed at the high school in order for us to improve and go forward as a community but also what is needed right now and I'm so impressed

at what I'm hearing from people I know in the community and I wanted to share that because it seems to me as an outsider on this um project transparent from n I'm hearing and I know many stakeholders who are there and it also see um people who are other parents uh as well as my husband and I'm impressed by that because they seem to be generating real conversations that are being shared and the one thing that is most important that I hear from everyone is that they're looking at the at the state of the school and what is most financially responsible for us to make on the condition of the school and what is needed so I wanted to share that feedback I'm impressed with what's going on and thank you so much for your

work and to those people who are on those committees thank you anyone else for a courtesy of the floor this evening hi everybody um my name is Jenna Bender um I live in Lower Providence um I'm actually a teacher at Woodland I think a lot of you know that hello um I'm actually here as a parent though I wanted to um take a minute to just share some thoughts I have as a parent of a um student who graduated just this past June um my son is at the University of Pittsburgh seems like everything's going well don't hear that much from him but that's good news right everybody like um he's actually doing really well and I meant to do this actually sooner after he graduated because I wanted to express um my thanks to

the district um I've been a teacher for many years but I am first a parent right um and um I know there's been a lot of back and forth with ratings and things like that about the district is that my time that's my I haven't been up here in a while so I've been 50 okay thanks um I know with the the the rankings and things like that and so much of life is what you make of it right um and he started here in kindergarten he went all the way through and I do want to say that again it is what you make of it but um specifically the high school where these rankings I think mostly come from I don't know that I could say enough nice things about the experiences that he

had and how well prepared he is for being adult an adult and in in college in advanced classes right away um in engineering and um I could shout out and I would like to shout out to a few particular teachers um who really made a big difference in his life and in his learning um Miss Miss Heiser AP US History was an outstanding teacher who really taught him to think and use his voice um uh Mr Walton what a great man what a great human being who just did so much to get him interested in the Life Sciences um Mr alamora everybody loves Mr alamora my son's a big history fan and that really started with Miss Williamson in 8th grade and I don't want to forget about any of the younger teachers as well

but what what what a what a great asset we have here in the district with him Mr savitz otherwise know as coach forever to me great teacher the Hydroponics program is outstanding what an opportunity Community um and also great cross country coach for my son love that U Mr Outland what a demanding intense wonderful teacher for a really difficult subject on top of the fact that he's a kind kind man who run some really uh powerful programs like the academic to cathlon which I mean I know it's not for everyone but these are great things um Mrs meix yeah really intense he learned so much he learned how to write and learned how to think um Mrs denshaw I mean you know the mock elections and all of that great stuff um and I want

to go back just a little bit to my own experience with my son early early Mrs Bradley uh Mrs yank Mrs doery I'm sorry um really quick I just want to say thank you so much for everything I do appreciate it thank you for your comments anyone else tonight for Courtesy the floor seeing none any last minute comments from board members anything motion to adjourn from Mr no com oh okay yeah I'm sorry it's unlike me I know Mr wyers can't believe it um there just three topics that were brought up during discussion there a mailer um voting and and you know doing the work right so I too share that you should vote and you should vote for people that want to do the work of this board this is monotonous it's dry toast
