decided to take a different approach this year and just bring uh student groups from all of our schools up to talk about the wonderful things they're doing in our schools um so last year we kind of made our way around to different municipalities and this year we're just inviting student groups to come up and present uh from the podium so tonight it gives me great pleasure to introduce M Andrea Le roone from North pen High School who is our theater director and also an English teacher at the high school good evening Mrs Rooney good evening and good evening to all of you gathered here and at home um thank you to Mrs sto stole and the school board and also to Dr Bower and the superintendent's cabinet for inviting us here tonight and we have

Theater Works for like dramaturgy given circumstances and literal and essential analysis of the characters which like helps us see the different elements of theater major this year we're learning about the history of theater uh focusing on American Theater but also learning about the past history of theater and how it contributes to learning about theater today uh we're also learing about the basic elements of theater and uh even practicing and learning about some monologue techniques active techniques as well as learning about the production of uh St crew elements and crew elements in general I really have to um learn about being in control of all of my emotions um and I'm learning to trust and be comfortable around my fellow co-stars in rehearsals and as the rehearsals start progressing more I'm getting more and more comfortable
with um the other actors on stage it's just like a really nice environment and I felt um just it's become much easier to be vulnerable um stage Carew has taught me so much taught me to be more social and before I really was not doing anything in school I was not involved in any activities but when I moved up to the high school and joined stage crew I was basically involved in everything and I had zero time but I also met so many incredible people and I've learned so many skills that I can take onto my next position like construction and math I know Math's scary but um social and just like it's just an amazing community and I'm so be a part of it even smaller things like I guess public speaking I'm using

a staff bowling match great form Dr Bower and Dr Waters that's it for this North pen news update make sure you check out our socials and download the nptv app for your fire stick and the wnpv app to listen to 98.5 FM anywhere or anytime Welcome to our regularly scheduled Action meeting this meeting is being videotaped for Community cable channels and streamed live individuals attending this meeting and intending to speak to the board should be aware that they are being videotaped in order to meet the requirements of Pennsylvania Sunshine Law it is necessary to record the names of all citizens who speak to the board during the meeting to assure compliance with this requirement it is essential that those planning to address the board State their name and municipality members of the audience will limit
their questions and comments to three minutes and now please okay so uh we will start then with the audience of citizens is there anyone in the public that would like to make a comment to this evening go ahead Mr Patel I've already signed this so don't start the thing I have to get organized here you know I I want the full volume of three minutes so I have written this and uh I am ready uh thank you for have that demonstration of the people in the district the students and the people that guide them it's very very interesting about areas that we really excel at uh really theater live is the true craft but films let you take that test like in high school over and over and over till you get it right and
you can get it a I only get three minutes to work on my oratory skills although I have found that going on and on in a political sense does bore many people but uh so many are areas in that uh theater there are other areas there's design set design lighting and uh costume design and and other other things other than acting for myself my uh admiration is directed to the Aran actor uh uh down in Williamsburg I love watching John Adams many times I'm glad they brought that I think it should be uh to the uh history people in high school they find great great interest in watching uh Mr giam Monti is is a true actor uh in many roles and uh I enjoy speaking to governor Patrick Henry in Williamsburg and uh with
many many people uh he has great insight to get a job at that place there is a very short list and hopefully you get to stay in there until you choose to retire almost like the Supreme Court so um that is it and uh oh okay here this is another thing I have to talk about tonight I I I said that I would be uh respectful and uh uh less uh whatever and uh the management is important for what it's worth the investment income stated at the last meeting said oh we're doing really well we're going to make five or six million do and then there was that uh caveat oh but of course we will redirect that to the capital x fund oh really uh oh some people call that a very derogatory name
I won't say it but I said when you have five or six million extra dollars coming in it would be advisable why don't you just not reach for the bar every single time it's reaching for the bar the act1 index and then you're crying and crying why don't we have well you took all the money out of the fixing account and put it in the longterm going to build the palace I don't see any reason why we should do it it's troubling it's legal but there there it doesn't it's not in what you need to do you need three air conditioners why don't you work on that to start with you got a big long list let's work on what we uh what we really need and then the grand D the grand dreams can
follow behind thank you Mr is there anyone else that would like to make public comment this evening hi I'm Pat Pino um I live in North Wales but I grew up in Lansdale so I am concerned about Lansdale um I wanted to talk about the buzz Depot proposal um with the defeat of the tax referendum why does the current Depot need to be reled located what is happening at the high school complex that causes the need to relocate the bus depot I don't know if that's something you can answer now there needs to be a construction staging area okay and how many buses are proposed to be kept and repaired at the proposed Church Road location Mr scy or Dr bow that if you want to complete your questions uh in the 3 minutes and
then we can address at the end okay sure uh rather than relocating to one location does it make more sense to store the buses at multiple satellite locations where distribution and student pickup and drop off and fuel consumption would be more efficient and less impactful on any one municipality has the school district done any preliminary traffic studies on the impact that relocating to the proposed Upper gwena Township location will have on AM PM Peak hour traffic in Upper gwened buses are slow and require wide turning movements is the north pen School District aware of the extensive traffic studies that were prepared by the upper gwened Merk traffic committee traffic partnership there are multiple vary and active SE SEPTA stations to the north Northeast and east of the proposed location is the school district aware of
the enormous amount of money approximately 22 million uppered town Township in partnership with MC spent on improving traffic conditions along the sunnytown pike Church Road corridors these studies and projects were built with the future in mind but never did that future include a 100 bus depot has the north pen School District engaged a competent traffic engineer to evaluate the impact that this proposal will have on the roadway Corridor the and the township region and Merc any discussion regarding sidewalks as suggested by the reporter article should be and are secondary to vehicular traffic impact why is there a discussion on sidewalks in the news and not vehicular traffic that's all I have thank you so I can answer a couple of them and certainly get your contact and follow up with you I think it was
Miss Peno is that correct um so in terms of uh the campus itself um we hope to be sharing some plans actually on Monday evening at our facilities and operations committee meeting so hopefully you can tune in and see uh the impact on the campus of the construction that is proposed um next was a number of buses Mr scr you'd be the better author I'm guessing 120 or so 122 fullsize buses 40 minivans and 21 Vans thank you um next was um about significant questions about a traffic study yes a traffic study was done uh we are waiting for a copy of that traffic study Miss Peno and when we have it we will certainly share that so there's just some of the answers for now but I will follow up thank you you're welcome
thank you Dr bow is there anyone else that would like to make public comment good evening Mr ler good evening uh Jas ler Lansdale uh I wanted to continue to talk about sort of the auditing process of what we're doing here in the school as opposed to the finances or anything else I think that's pretty much squared away I don't I don't see there's a big issue other than what our expenditures are and some things um but that's not really a finance issue anyhow uh wanted to ask about the auditing of the benefit of social seal Dei CRT equity and all this is this beneficial to students I I would say it's not I I I think when when you affirm every kid's issue it is becomes problematic for them as an adult and I
don't see this as this is more of like an emotional durability if when kids are little and they think there's a monster under their bed we don't affirm that there's a monster under the bed we rationalize and say listen this is not not how it's happening you don't you're you're mistaken that was just a noise but we're we're we're we're sitting there and we're affirming kids issues in the in the hopes of somehow making that Equity will be not that Equity the the the the affirmation the the social emotional learning the affirming will benefit them somehow somehow the empathy will be beneficial when you overload on this this means the kid is they don't have the durability that it takes for them to go out into the real world I would ask have you guys
done the audits of postgraduates and see how well they've done in school in college if they've gone to college how well they've done in University or how they they've done in Industry I think what you would find is that they're they're they're they're having trouble there's a lot that this isn't being beneficial to them constantly coddling kid isn't going to benefit them there's you know the expression of of build a bridge and get over it when your feelings are hurt your feelings are hurt that doesn't mean that's who you are that doesn't mean that what's wrong with you it mean somebody was out of line or or what have you but constant this constant empathy is not beneficial to the kids I know number of kids that have gone through school four years now some
of them have four years four year degrees but they can't make it in the world they can't make it in the world not because they have a degree in something that's not useful it's because the market isn't ready for them they don't have the the durability to understand that you know when you hear no or you're wrong isn't an attack it's because that's what it is no that's wrong this is not beneficial to the kids it really isn't I get it in short Spades when when there's a problem you want some understanding I got it but as a general practice I don't think this is good and I think it would bear out in what we see from the kids who have graduated from here years ago and it might be all across the country
and a lot of this is going on but it's not beneficial thank you Mr L thank you is there anyone else that would like to make public comment seeing none we'll move on then okay can I have a motion please for the approval of the minutes from the February 15 2024 Action meeting please so moved second motion by Dr G seconded by Mrs romage any comments or questions all in favor say I I any opposed motion carries okay next up are the committee reports um as we've been doing for the last several months the finance safe schools ECI policy and facilities and operations are all videotaped and available online for viewing so we're not going to read those committee reports but we will read the other ones I'll start off with personnel and then we'll

director were uh approved unanimously to the their positions and we would like to uh thank uh the Montgomery Township Police Department for donating 30 wall lockers and um uh um Jennifer zerck from Collegeville Pennsylvania for donating a 2012 gmaac C Arcadia to the college to the that school thank you very much thank you Mr rash does anybody have any comments or questions for Mr Rush seeing none we will move on to the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit report Mrs ramage please great thank you the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit board met on February 28th we started the meeting off with a program highlight featuring um the director of facilities and operations the board reviewed policy we approved budgets and um other programmatic matters um the next meeting of the mciu board is on March 27th I also
