002this evening at the beginning of the meeting this meeting is being videotaped for community cable channels and streamed online individuals attending this meeting and intending to speak to the board should be aware that they are being videotaped in order to meet the requirements of pennsylvania's sunshine law it is necessary to record the names of all citizens who speak to the board during the meeting to assure compliance with this requirement it is essential that those planning to address the board state their name and municipality members of the audience are asked to limit their questions and comments to allow time for all those who wish to speak to the board the board president may ask an individual to yield the microphone to the next speaker as a reminder the audience of citizens portion of the meeting is
003designed for residents and taxpayers of the district to provide comment and feedback on matters which are or may come before the board it is not designed for debate or discussion with the board when appropriate individual school directors may choose to respond to public comments that have been made once the audience of citizens period has concluded or request that a member of the administration follow up with the speakers after the meeting with that do we have anyone for public comment good evening my name is william patrol i'm uh 75 years old so somebody my age in stature or whatever it is you know i don't have to do this most of my competitors are probably down in florida you know planning on what the t time for tomorrow is but the issues here is declining school
004enrollment here in this public school district it used to be 13 000 and the numbers substantiate i wonder what's going wrong it's either as i said academic and financial apartheid because in montgomery township i think you need a good a sizable deposit to be able to buy a house so what you're doing is by raising these taxes you're systematically making it less and less available to the people who you say you want to be inclusive of so but that that issue will be coming out eventually now the situation with the covet okay i'm a shock already we had 51 cases in three days now i talked to mia kim she is our uh contact tracing person it was a little elusive but she did get back to me right away i said you contact five
005people 10 people so let's see 51 would be 510 people so gee i wonder if the parents are thinking gee i wonder what's going on in my class who will it be they might need some substitutes we need a number on how many substitutes you have are they certified to teach the level that they are assigned to it's a joke around oh yeah they're reading a comic book they're just babysitting that is a sad commentary by people out on the street so now we have over 800 people that are attending online i met a majority of them i met some young people working there and they said you'd be shocked what they said it's not very flattering i wouldn't go back to that place if i was dead there's no reason to none because what's
006going to happen is you're going to you're going to plan and you're going to schedule and you know what's going to happen two months from now hey it's not working out we got to go back online again we hate it but you got to be prepared what's what's going to happen now i feel sorry we've had two graduating class cumulative 2 000 people miss wanda campbell says oh we're so proud of our graduation i don't see any reports on how they're doing i'll tell you what i think they're mentally challenged they're ill-prepared and they're not ready to accept what's what's going to be going on in the academic world i hope they don't go to lehigh it's going to be almost impossible to get through that school so uh we need to be worried about
007our substitutes the hiring the quitting the retiring i'm telling you what some of these people with the wages you're building in a legacy cost for pensions and it's it's it's unsustainable and you know what if i was making over two hundred thousand i'm going to get a hundred and eighty thousand on a pension i tell you what i'd ship my cement my retirement thank you thank you mr patrol jason lanier lansdale borough i want to kind of go further on what mr patrol is saying there not only is the enrollment dropping in our school district but our rankings are dropping as well not just for safety as mr cass is aware but for education purposes our district rank in pa used to be in 2017 used to be 11th and we are now 47. this
008is according to the niche uh our the high school ranking in pa used to be 15th now we're at 32. the best place to teach in pa we were 29th now we're 62nd we had a whole lot of retirements last year i don't think it was strictly about kovid i think there there's a bigger there's a bigger uh force at work here uh most diverse district we used to be the 29th most diverse district now we're the 42nd diverse district with all of this inclusion and diversity teaching and anti-racism we're still dropping in diversity i wonder why that is our district ranking in montgomery county used to be third in 2017 we were third we are currently ninth so everything that you guys have been proposing and what you're trying to do to make things
009better doesn't seem to be working maybe maybe you need to do something different maybe you need to take a different approach maybe looking at some of the curriculum that you guys are working on i i talked with with uh dr bauer and uh dr waters just this past week we talked a little bit about the curriculum we talked about some of the the the concerns that came up namely the the books the the the very salacious books you realize not only is that against the law to have in school but it's also uh you know how it's it's considered in in the fbi world i don't know if mr cassidy knows this but it's called uh child eroticism these books are have no place in the school district none not for just the high school
010not just for the elementary no place we're talking about specific issues where kids are dealing with something i understand but as a general rule it should not be openly available to anybody this is this is pretty bad in the in the critical race theory i was told it wasn't critical race theory that it's it's uh cultural responsive teaching okay call it what you like but i'm concerned with the authors that you guys have which are strictly the old worm of crt the the race dating the the the the what the difference between good racism and bad racism and i'm talking about abraham max county you can read i don't know if anybody's read it his work but the things he says is is pretty a plural deplorable in terms of there's good racism and bad
