It's time to wake up, warriors. Live from Penn Trafford High School. This is Wake Up, Warriors. Wake Up, Warriors starts now. Live from the studios of PTTv. This is Wake Up, Warriors on Monday, April 20th. I'm Ali Pula. And I'm John Kunkle. We're glad to have you with us this morning. Let's get things started with today's show. Attention, juniors. There's an upcoming STEAM college and career fair being held at CCAC on April 30th. Various universities, businesses, and military branches will be in attendance for students interested. We spoke to Mr. Owen to learn more how more about how eligible students can register. All juniors, there will be a CCAC STEAM college and career fair held on April 30th at CCAC in Pittsburgh. All students should register through their email. Uh they receive an email from me

and they can register through a form. Registration is due by April 24th along with parent permission. Uh students, if you have any questions, please reach out to me. There will be only 30 students admitted to this event, so make sure that you sign up as soon as possible so that you can get a spot. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. Have a great day. Mr. Rocco's forensic one students are doing a fun experiment to calculate LC50. The students put brine shrimp in a measured dosage of Tylenol, aspirin, or energy drinks to see how long it takes for a certain amount to die. We spoke to CSI club president Claire Crowell about her experience in the lab. We're testing aspirin, Tylenol, and an energy drink to brine shrimp. We

are testing different levels of concentration. 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150. And we're seeing how likely they are to die in the different concentrations and how many die in what concentrations. So, my group was doing Tylenol. Uh there are different groups doing like a combination of like like aspirin and Tylenol or energy drink and Tylenol, but we just have Tylenol, so we have a 10% Tylenol and the others. Are you interested in running for a spot in the PTHS student union? A form was sent to your email to apply. This form is for all current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. If you're interested, please complete the form by Thursday, April 30th by 2:25 p.m. Voting will begin the week of May 4th. Last Wednesday, students from Penn-Trafford High School got to meet their third-grade little

buddy. This day was a fun-packed day filled with laughter and joy. Today is officially big buddy day. It's the last part of the big buddy program for this year. All the kids are super excited to come. This day just consists of the little buddies finally being able to meet their big buddies and just hang out with them, play some games, get some snacks, and some Kona Ice. Some of the games that we have today is football toss, we have a relay race, we have spike ball, some corn hole, a bunch of different games, and they're all super excited for all of them. Guys, we are having so much fun down here at Big Buddy. There are so many activities that are going on right now. Kids are playing corn hole, we're doing bean bag toss,

getting Kona Ice. Um and I just want to thank you or say thank you so much to everyone for helping, um especially the officers and Caitlin Long this year. This is such a success and it's so nice to see. That's what you did this morning. Are you in need of a dress or suit for prom? Stop down to room 104 to get what you need. Here's Mrs. Sanowski with more information. Hi warriors and happy prom season. Uh the fashion students and myself are working to get the caring closet ready for all of your prom needs. So, if there's anything you need, please stop down and ask me or your guidance counselor. We can take you to the caring closet. We have really large selection of formal gowns and suits. We have quite a few dress

shoes. We have a few accessories, and we are here to help you if you are in need. Uh no questions asked. We just want you to come down and see what we have and we will help you try it on as well. We are having on April 14th, directly after school, we are having an open closet event where we're asking anyone that just wants to come in, try some stuff on, see if there's anything that they like, that they would like to take, to come on in. So, we sent an email to all juniors and seniors for that. If you want to attend, we are not requiring, but we are asking you sign up on the form. That way we have an idea of how many people will be coming. Stop down anytime. If you

need anything for prom, we're here for you. Sponsored by NHS, Project Confidence is a teen-focused donation initiative created to support teenagers who may not have access to everyday items that help them feel confident and comfortable. We spoke to the project's organizer Celia Spurber to learn more. So, Project Confidence is an initiative that basically it gives teens the means that they need to feel better about themselves and really understand who they are. Um we accept physical donations that can be lightly used room decor, accessories, anything of that type or unopened self-care items. That can be skin care, body sprays, anything of that kind. Um we also accept monetary donations. There's a couple donation centers right now. We have a donation center at Empower Aesthetics and Wellness, Stacey Lym Boutique Photography, both Pen Pal's locations, and the

King Seat Tavern. Um we can also take donations in Mr. Romeo's room here. Starting April 6th, when we come back from Easter break, we'll be collecting donations in the LGI sponsored by NHS. So, if you guys want to donate, reach out to me, Celia, or Senora Birch, and you guys can bring donations here. Attention seniors, the yearbook staff needs your photos for the senior slideshow to be aired on one of your last days of school. Please DM photos from elementary, middle school, and high school to the Instagram account at pt hs.yearbook or email them to [email protected]. The photos should feature small or large groups of students and must be of seniors only. The deadline is Friday, April 24th. Last Thursday, the chess team had their last big tournament of the year facing Pine-Richland. It was

a very successful day for them. We spoke to Colin Trenzsar and Alex Heinz to talk about what this meant to them. So, with this tournament, Pine-Richland invited us for their spring invitational. It was a open tournament. There was about 70 students. There were 34 boards. And it was kind of nice that we were able to bring home the win with five-game tournament. Everyone on our A team was four people. We had three tournaments this year. The final one, we were able to bring home the win, so it was kind of nice to see the hard work pay off. Penn-Trafford is looking to go beyond the basics with a new initiative called the Building Warrior Campaign. While district funding covers essential needs like academics, maintenance, and activities, there's often little left for additional improvements that can

enhance the student experience. That's where this campaign comes in. Each school has identified a specific wish list item from the upgraded classroom resources to improve technology and learning spaces. The campaign invites parents, community members, and local businesses to give back directly to the schools that matter most to them. By supporting these efforts, donors can see the impact of their contributions through the Building Warrior Campaign. Penn-Trafford is continuing its effort to create stronger opportunities and a better learning environment for all students. On Thursday, the boys lacrosse team traveled to Pittsburgh Central Catholic for a 7:30 face-off. The boys fought hard but ultimately fell short 9 to 8. The boys look to bounce back tonight where they welcome Upper Saint Clair High School for a 7:30 face-off. Last Friday, the girls lacrosse team welcomed Hampton High School

for a 6:00 face-off. The girls were strong offensively, putting up 13 goals against the Talbots. They ended the night with a 13 to 3 win over Hampton High School. Tonight in sports, the boys baseball team is celebrating senior night with a 4:00 first pitch against Penn Hills High School. The girls' softball game is also celebrating their senior night. The team will come to Greater Latrobe for a 5:00 game. The girls' lacrosse team welcomes Mount Lebanon for a 6:00 game. Following the girls' game, the boys welcome Upper St. Clair for a 7:30 game. Thank you for tuning in to today's edition of Wake Up Warriors. We now invite you to stand for the pledge of the flag. This has been Ali Fuller and John Gongaware. Have a great day, PT.
