board's business meeting of relax >> Monday uh thanks Nick Monday uh the 3rd of November 2026 to uh please rise as we say the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for Sorry. >> Mr. A, would you please uh do the roll call? >> Yes, sir. Mr. President, Miss >> here. Dr. Klein >> present. >> Mr. Kachassic >> here. Dr. Koscher >> here. >> Mr. Leonard >> here. >> Mr. Matarazzo is absent this evening as is Mr. Ne. >> Mr. Patrusy >> here. >> Mr. Stovar >> here. You have a Mr. President. >> Thank you, Mr. Lego. You're >> welcome. >> Uh information Dr. Harris. >> Thank you very much, Mr. Katassic. Um,

first of all, we want to start off by honoring one of our board members. This is his last board meeting as he chose not to run for office again. And Mr. Marty Stovar, how many years have you just finished? >> 14 years. And in your 14 years, what is your highlight? What is your best moment you can think of? >> Uh, probably just the fact that we started at the top and we remained at the top for 14 years. So, uh, and and that's got to do with everybody here, but it's a great community. You got great parents, great kids, great teachers, created admin staff. Put that all together in a big bowl and you mix it up with some people that are pretty levelheaded on the board, you end up with a really good

district. So, uh, just glad I could do my part and, uh, wish you all well. Yeah, we're very blessed to have you and your three daughters that went through here and your family and you went through here alumni >> and one of the things um I actually give you a lot of credit for is you started our naming rights policy and I tried to figure out how much money we had brought in from that naming right policy for that but I didn't look further into it. I don't know Brett do you have any amounts or >> I don't I wish I'd known I >> it's more than $5. is more than five. [laughter] Yes, it was more than five and it was a lot heavier. Well, 10 years ago when we first started at two

and I know it's 10 years because I paid monthly and my my I now own my room. October was my last payments. >> I think it's pretty close to $100,000 we raised over the years. >> Okay. >> Excellent extra money because as you know we always our district were one of the lowest cost per expenditures, one of the lowest um spending school district. uh we [snorts] rely heavily on a lot of grants and a lot of donations and so that's just one way you do honest through us. So I do appreciate it and as a thank you um we usually give our retirement people a cake so we're going to actually give you I know you're not retired but [laughter] >> we are going to give YOU [applause] and because it's your because it's your

family who sacrificed and everyone I want you to go home and have that with your family. >> They they they appreciated me. [laughter] They're going to send you back. >> They're gonna send you back. So that's I take home cake for the whole the whole stove artic family. So thank you for all you do and always thank you for taking this job very seriously. I know it's sometimes can be a thankless job. >> Thank you. >> But on nights like this when we have students, our student representatives and band students and some of our students of the month like everyone always tells me this is the why they do everything we do. And first of all is Maya Katassic here. She's our pen Trafford High School student. She's out in the back. I knew she

was there. >> If you can come and give us an update on what's happening around the high school. >> Um, hi. I'm glad to be back here to talk to you about the recent events. So, this weekend, Mia Williams won the PIAA state championship in Hershey. Uh, this is an amazing feat and I hope that you all can send her your congratulations. Um, also the cap club, I talked to the leader of that and they declared that there will be a snowball dance this year on January 24th. Uh, more information will be sent out tomorrow, she said. And then the first quarter, I just wanted to remind you that ended on Friday, October 24th, and the grades are final. So now we're starting the second quarter. and to hear more from the students. I'd like

to send out a Google form for next month's meeting to see if any students have any concerns. So, that's all I have for you. Uh, any questions? >> No, we do appreciate the concerns. I know you brought us a couple the first meeting that we were able to look into, so that's always helped. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. And we also have um some representatives from the band. Dave, did you want to introduce anyone or are they going to just introduce themselves? You you do it. >> All right. >> Good evening. It's a great pleasure to be uh here with all of you tonight. And I'd like to introduce uh several senior members of our band. Uh drum major Zachary Ki, trumpet player Joey Halib, and uh Barry Saxon, Senator Hensler. And

uh they they have some things that they'd like to obviously thank all of you for your immense support. >> All right. All right. Well, thank you. >> Thank you. >> Good evening. Um, I'm Zach Ki. I'm the drum major of our marching band. Um, I'd personally like to thank the Dr. Harris, Mr. Hedrickk, and Mr. Modazzo for attending our TOB region 8 championships. We did win first place there. So, we are first in our region. And then later the week after, I'd like to thank again Mr. Quilio, Dr. Harris, Mr. Hedrickk and Mr. Ha um Mr. Adamson who's one of our BA part of our band parent association who helped to set up our welcome back after we won states there with a 94.9 which was the highest score at the time placing a second

overall. Um and I especially with the Clarage Fire Department, Harrison City Fire Department, Levelville Green and all those that could attend. Um, I'd also love to thank um all of you to help help us fund our trip to Hershey for our competition there for um for ACC, the Atlantic Coast Championship. We did place fifth there, which put us the highest ranking in PA out of everyone that went out of the hundred or so bands that did attend over that two-day competition. Um, [snorts] anything else you guys would like to say or thank? [laughter] >> Sorry for my speedy talking. Any questions that you guys might have? >> No, you did such a fantastic job this year. Your show was outstanding. And when I saw you perform that night down to work stadium, you were spot

on. There wasn't, >> you did not miss a beat. I mean everything from the choreography the choreographics for the color guard and all the sound and all the the marching and you leading the way. So they did an excellent job. >> Thank you very much. >> Should be very proud and I'm glad that they had that um police escort. Did you what did you feel when you saw the police lights and that >> sirens? >> I was first surprised when they start started. I almost thought we were getting pulled over. [laughter] Um, but as we got over to around ShraMS where they used to be and the rest of the fire trucks came, I just it just was such a cool experience. It was probably the top of my entire high school career. Um, it

was and then once we got to the school, seeing all the parents, seeing all anyone that showed up to just congratulate us and welcome us welcome us back. That was just an amazing feeling for me. I bet these two can also agree. [laughter] It was Sorry for speaking for them. Um uh the number of times that I heard on the bus back, "Wow, this is amazing. This is so cool." Um and just it was just an awesome experience to have. >> Well, I'm glad you had and that's actually the experience we had watching your show. It was that good. >> How many bands participated? Um, in overall in our class at ACC's, we had 10 out of 10 bands in our class of two open. We placed fifth out of those. Um, in PA there's

in our region there's three in our class, but there's many more that I'm I can't count how many there are that we compete against. >> You know how many? I think he's at 102 at the Europe. >> Oh, this past weekend there were 102. >> Okay. I thought it was three figures. Okay. >> It was nice to return to the stadium where the football or their state championship in 2021. >> Yes. >> That's two state championships in what, four or five months? That's not bad. >> The girls bowl softball and now the band >> and the tennis player. >> Tennis, right? >> Yeah, we have. We've had a good year. She beat last year's stage turn. >> Is that who that was? >> Yeah, she beat her in in a quarterfinal. >> Oh, >> well,

we appreciate everything you do. You work hard. You work a lot of hours for that. So, it doesn't doesn't go unnoticed. So, I'm very glad you got that honor. Thank you. >> Thank you. CONGRATULATIONS. >> [applause] >> And now our best part of the I already say my favorite part every month is and I kind of give the same speech every time but to win the honor of being a student of the month we have 3,800 students and at the end of the year we've choose 27 of those to be students of the month. So when you do the math, it is very hard to achieve this honor. And when you hear what the principles read about your children and what they have accomplished and why they were chosen, it is going to fill your

heart with um joy. It truly does because you send your kids out out to the school, they can basically do anything they want. They can choose to go one way, they can choose to go to another way. You're not there. But after you hear all this, you're going to see they choose to do the right thing. all the time and it is noticed by the teachers, by their classmates, by everyone who's in the office, the support staff, everyone in the building and it's it's an honor. So, I'm truly happy um to hear what they have to say and I'm truly happy that we get to honor your students and when you hear it and afterwards we're going to take a picture and something u for the press because they they they deserve it. So, I'm

going to start off with Harrison Park, Mr. Morassi. >> Thank you, Dr. Harris. Um, Georgia, if you come up, you want to stand up here. I'd like to recognize, and first I want to say, George, you got a little more color tonight than you did when I called you down the office. [laughter] So, um, we'd like to recognize the elementary student of the month from Harrison Park, fifth grader, Georgia. Georgia is the daughter of Caitlyn Wiser and she has a 2-year-old brother, Jackson. George's mother informed us that Georgia is very creative individual. She loves arts and crafts and especially around this time of year, she enjoys her Halloween decorations. Mrs. Wiser also mentioned that Georgia is very good with technology. She's always looking to learn something new, but her greatest trait is said that you're

just amazing big sister for your little brother there. George's teacher stated that she is the ideal candidate for this award because she consistently demonstrates kindness, focus, and a strong work ethic. She is a dedicated student who always puts forth her best effort in every assignment and act actively participates in class discussions. Georgia shows genuine passion, compassion, and empathy toward her peers, making everyone feel valued and supported. Her positive attitude and willingness to help others make her a wonderful role model for the classroom. When I had the opportunity to speak with Georgia, she stated that her favorite subject is math. When asked why math, she said it's just easy. She also enjoys gym and recess time. But one the one thing that stands out the most is that she really loves her teachers. When she's not

in school, she enjoys her time outside just just relaxing. When the weather doesn't cooperate and she finds herself inside, she enjoys studying and playing Uno on her phone. I asked her if Jackson could tell me something about her, what would it be? She said Jackson would say I'm annoying. Georgia, there's there's one thing that I will say with that. I think there's going to come a point in time where Jackson looks up to you and says, "I'm very proud of my big sister." And [snorts] with that, George's kindness, positive attitude, and her willingness to help others are sure to make her a success in everything she undertakes. We're proud to have George as a fifth grade student, and it is our privilege and pleasure to select her as a student of the month. Congratulations, GEORGIA.

[applause] I think she has something to hand out. Do you have something to hand out? >> Hand this to you first. Congratulations. Something to remember about it. Great job. >> She wrote a speech. >> I like it. >> Very nice. I think that that I think that is the first speech ever. [laughter] >> Thank you, Georgia. >> That was very nice. Thank you. That was very nice. >> Appreciate and I'll leave one for you and one for me. Thank you. >> Thank you. Thank you so much. >> Thank [snorts] you, lady. >> Thank you. You keep up the good work. >> Yeah. Thank you. That was my favorite. Thank you. >> Thank you. Thank you, Georgia. Congratulations. >> Thanks. Joe, >> no, I did not. >> Looking at the line, Joe might help. >> That

was very nice. Um, Mr. Morassi, so what is going on in Harrison Park at the other elementary school? >> Yeah. recently. Um, we just completed rib red ribbon red ribbon week last week and uh like to give a special thank you to the Harrison City Volunteer Fire Department um for coming out on Thursday and uh discussing fire safety with our students uh taking their time out uh of their day and [snorts] um it it was quite unique. Uh while they were there, they got called out. Uh so the kids actually got to see them >> Oh, wow. >> leave and and respond to uh a house fire. Uh I know Clarage does the same and they were always involved um with uh the uh students and in the district [snorts] and we appreciate everything they

they've done for us. Um report cards went home uh last Friday and uh also last Friday districtwide uh at the elementary level we uh concluded uh our first junk box wars for the uh year. Uh things that are upcoming uh Darren Darl will continue for fifth grade. We've got our fifth grade bushy run field trip. Uh this Thursday uh after school, we've got a Lego club going on. And then um next week, of course, parent teacher conferences on Monday. And uh more importantly, Tuesday, uh we're [snorts] going to get get to celebrate our um veterans on Veterans Day with an assembly. Uh currently, we have 41 uh veterans registered to attend. So we're looking forward to that. busy busy couple weeks and you know it's not gonna be long that all of a sudden we're

into Thanksgiving. >> Yeah. >> But thank you Dr. Harris. >> November December flies and thanks for the good job you're doing at the Harrison Park and the kids were very excited for fire safety because I was there a Thursday morning and several of them asked if I was coming forward as well. Sounded it was nice. It was but there was a lot of buzz. They they like I said they they they [snorts] do uh Spanza Adamson's from Clarage and uh Lavevel's and Goods from Harrison City. Outstanding. Just I can't appreciate it more. >> We are very lucky to have the support we do from our all of our rescue people, the fire, the police, the road crew, rescue [clears throat] six, everybody. I mean, we're very lucky at Pent Trafford. There's excellent working relationships. [snorts]

>> All right, Mr. Sullivan, student of the month is ready. I see him out there. [laughter] >> Yeah. I'd like to introduce Logan Murray. I asked him if he prepared a speech when he got here and the look on his face, [laughter] but I told him I'd take care of it, but I won't introduce his family is here in the front and u especially his uh younger brother. So, uh Logan is an outstanding academic student at Penn Middle School. But to tell you a little more about him, he's involved in the PTMA football program, uh, where he is a two-year, uh, two-way starter, so he goes both ways. [snorts] He is involved in the all-American baseball program located in Trafford. [snorts] He is a uh, Cub Scout in Scouts of America. Logan is a a

first class scout, the fourth of seventh rank, seven ranks, and the rank that transitions from learning to leading. and is a den chief. A den chief is one who helps uh lead the younger cub scouts along with the den leader. In his in his free time, he enjoys hunting, dirt bike riding, and playing video games. Logan is also a part of the Penn Middle School band and jazz band as a percussionist. So, Mr. Cornelius, keep an eye on this guy. His teachers and and the people in the building have said this about Logan. He goes above and beyond in class. Yes, he earns good grades, but but beyond that, he seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the material that that we're learning. His [snorts] teachers say he's a kind person who treats adults and

his peers with respect. He is willing and eager to work with anyone around him. Logan is hardworking, friendly, and enthusiastic student who consistently brings energy and dedication to everything he does. In class, he stands out for his thoughtfulness, participation, leadership, and genuine love of learning, especially when speaking French. Outside of the classroom, he is the driving force behind the morning announcements at Penn Middle School, showing strong problem solving skills solving skills and keeping the show running smoothly. Logan's positive attitude, helpful nature, and initiative make him a true asset to the school community. Logan is truly deserving of this honor, and we want to congratulate you and your family for being Pen Middle School's student of the month. Congratulations. [applause] Are you ever going to do the Eagle Scouts or is that your plan or >>

I think so. >> You think so? I always say this now. If you're looking for a project, I always need help. [laughter] I always put it out there. I'm always thinking. So, thank you. We we we love our skeletons at PT. All right. [snorts] Anything good? What's going on in the schools, Mr. S? So, we just completed Red Ribbon Week as well. Uh, prior to that though, Penn Middle School had their grit week. Uh, grit stands for grace, resilience, integrity, and tenacity. And we ended the week with u our middle our first middle school dance and it went very well. Kids had a good time. uh out of uh so the quarter ended as you heard but out of u 550 some students 364 students of pen middle school made honor roll or high honor

roll so it was a good start to the year there um our school band is uh having a fundraiser u we're going to have a magic show at at u at the middle school uh please check our website for that should be a good time. And then we're looking forward, student council is beginning already um our food drive for for Thanksgiving holiday. >> Busy month. Who's the magician? >> I don't have his name, Dr. I'm sorry. >> I just I just know I just know we're having one. >> No, I enjoy a good magic show. So, >> y I know it's at 7 o'clock and I want to believe it's two Fridays from now. >> Okay. >> I might be at a football game. >> I'm hoping. >> Yeah, [laughter] >> I'm hoping to be

at a football game. >> Yeah. Okay. >> All right. And finally, the high school. Dr. Healey. If >> I could have Sen Hensler, >> I know some of us already know Sennon because he was up here with the band, but um for the month of September, I'm sorry, for the last month, I selected Senn. Um he is the reason why is he's an extremely active student at Pent Trafford High School. He participates in marching band as a Barry Saxs player, is on the rifle team, trap team, attends votech um for robotics engineer manufacturing, participates in bots IQ, as part of the pep uh pep band club, drama guild, and the stay true club. Um I first met Sen probably about a year ago whenever he was working the auditorium because he's one of the only

few people that run the lights, sound, and production uh equipment. So my running joke with Sen is you need to train your replacement. So um so some of the teachers um you know just from that little bit of time he's fantastic. So I reached out to some of the teachers. Um Mr. Fox um said Senate is on our stage crew. One of our stage crew club chiefs. He is dependable, hardworking, adaptive, innovative, kind, empathetic and takes gra pride in his work. Because he is so kind and humble. I think he is sometimes overlooked. I am thrilled he is being acknowledged for the exceptional student he is. Miss Wilby said that you come in every day and work hard to be extremely successful and you are genuinely a nice kid. Um Mr. Cornelius wrote a very

very very long um [laughter] very long uh snippet. saw this kind of just highlight um you know just he has a very big penchant for fixing and repairing things [snorts] especially when it comes to wood instruments is very helpful he is very dedicated to everything he does um his contributions are truly truly appreciated um I'm sure he will continue to accomplish great things throughout his senior year and long after he graduates and then I have finally Mrs. Habberger and Mrs. Temple. Um, they said you've have been part of the drama guild since your freshman year and they really couldn't do it without you and your dedication. Your ability to put anything together like MacGyver and your willingness to help anyone in any situation is a plus. You are creative, multi-talented, and an asset to the

organization and Pent Trafford High School. Um, you are excellent at taking down the confetti from the rafters. Um, uh, you have become truly a jack of all trades. Um and with that you know those are the reasons why you were selected [applause] >> and then what is going on at the high school. >> So um a couple things that we have uh first we had our first club day on October 15th. Um on this day we had 20 of our 31 clubs meet. Um, we completed a pay survey in our 10th and 12th grade English classes on October 17th. Um, we had 113 students take the PSAT, 99 students take the SAT. Uh, on October 16th, we had 12 students recognized in this room for Noble Warrior by teachers. The V varsity ice hockey team

is currently playing in Delmmont. U, my son is disappointed. He couldn't go because he plays hockey and loves watching them. Um, because I'm sitting here. So, but it's it's okay. Uh, the football team will play against Moon this weekend. Um, it should be an exciting game because we played a very very close win back in September uh with a 2524 win. Um, and the winter sports are starting to get rolling. Um, all between the 14th and 20th, boys, girls basketball, 9th grade basketball, bowling, rifle, swimming, um, unified botchi and wrestling. So, it's very busy. And then if you have any books, I know I just brought a bunch out of my basement. My wife is super excited. The media literacy with Miss Faulk is doing a book drive for a chance to win a Chick-fil-A

gift card. So if you have any books, bring them in. >> Absolutely. >> All right. Well, thank you very much. And we're going to take it use this time to take a picture of all the students of the month. I do want to thank the teachers and everyone who came, Mr. Cornelius, Mrs. Haberberger, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Tmuda. It was nice to see the staff support. I do appreciate you coming. So, thank you. Oh, who did I who did I miss? Someone else. Oh, Mr. Gates. I'm sorry. You're right back there. I didn't even see you. I'm sorry. Thank you for coming as well. But the kids who are coming, would you please come up and take a picture? We are going to recognize them once again in September at the very first football game. >>

You get an invitation later. >> Yeah. >> They've done it for a few years now. Someone told me they're thinking about moving into the spring. Congratulations. >> Congratulations. And parents are more than welcome. >> Perfect. Thank you. >> How you doing, Mr. >> Your daughter did well. Is that right? That's right. We'll decide on Friday night. I don't know. And I as head out in Mr. That's all I have. >> I don't see any fishing in here. as we're waiting just a half a minute for the rest of the room to clear. Um, if I can just have your attention for a minute, >> thank you. >> Oh, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Tension, [laughter] tension, tension. >> There's a new face you might recognize at the table and that's our new business manager.

And actually, you might think we hired two business managers, but we don't. We're not that lucky to have. >> Well, we do for this month. Um, Brad Lego, who's next month will be his last meeting. And we're welcoming Rebecca Rodriguez or Becky Rodriguez. She's taking over his seat. Brett, I'll probably say something next year, but 22 years of being, you know, 19 >> 22 years today. And I've been with you for 19 long time a long time. >> Longevity. >> And we're the still the lowest cost spending school district. We And we also high performing. So we do less for more. So >> That will continue under. >> What is our cost for student? >> Somebody asked me that recently. It it it depends on what number you want to look at, but >> basically

all in it's about $15,000 a year. >> About 15. >> He said ask him in January. >> Ask him in January. >> Go down a little bit. >> All right. Well, thank you and welcome back. Nice to have you here. And I'm going to officially turn it over to Phil. >> All right. Thank you, Dr. Harris. This is the uh time in the meeting where we would have recognition of visitors, but nobody has signed up. >> Uh old business. >> We have none this evening, Mr. President. >> Thank you, Mr. There you go. There was an executive session prior to this m uh meeting to discuss personnel matters. Um now we're going to move to the uh meeting agenda uh which is the consent agenda. Does the board wish to remove any item from the

consent agenda? My apologies. It's been a while since I rode the horse. May I have a motion to approve the consent agenda items as submitted under one motion? >> So move. >> Second. >> Question being called. This will be a roll call vote. All in favor of the motion say I. >> Opposed. >> Motion carried. May I have a motion to approve the consent agenda items including >> Yeah. My apologies. Now we move ahead to >> personel. >> So personnel and curriculum. Mr. Leonard. >> Yes sir. Mr. President, I would like to make a motion to employ some personnel. Um be moved to employ the following personnel. New employment is contingent upon receipt of all necessary documentation. acceptance of act 34 15114 waiverss from the comwalth of Pennsylvania within 30 days and those personnel since

there's not that many I'll mention >> excuse me Mr. Leonard >> Megan first >> uh take yeah just uh >> thank you Mrs. Zing >> yeah you jumped ahead >> you jumped ahead >> I got the wrong agenda >> yeah he does >> yes >> thank you Tony You got the wrong website. [laughter] >> Megan, you were you were due to make $91 million. [laughter] >> Says that at his last at his last meeting. He's given away. [laughter] >> That's why it fixed. [laughter] >> Hopefully, you signed it. I will try. I don't know if that's determined, but no employment is contingent upon the receipt of all necessary documentation and the acceptance of act 34151 and 114 waivers from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. >> Second >> Question being called for this will be a roll call vote. I don't think he's retired. >> Well, I think he knows what I meant. >> Yeah, you've been you've been a great asset to the board, Marty.
