001To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. You can be seated. We have a roll call, please. Miss Anders, >> here. >> Miss Jal, >> yes. >> Present. >> Mrs. Hollow >> here. >> Mr. Lynon Mhler >> here. >> Mr. Lauren Lustik >> here. >> Mr. Matthew Lustik >> here. >> Mr. Wel, >> excused. >> Miss John Cover >> here. >> Mrs. Plank >> here. >> Thank you. We did have an executive session prior to this meeting uh regarding negotiations. Uh could I get a motion to approve tonight's agenda, please? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Motion and a second. Are there any questions? All right. All in favor say I. >>

002I. >> Any opposed? I >> All right. Uh, could I get a motion to approve the minutes as per the attached documents for board meeting 21726 and the curricular and extracurricular meeting, the business and operations committee meeting, and the policy committee meeting at 3326. So move >> second. >> I have a motion and a second. Are there any questions? Yes, I have some proposed uh corrections to two of the to two of the um meeting minutes. >> All right. >> Um I read up in Robert's rules of order how to suggest this and I believe uh that the proper way is to propose um is to propose corrections. Uh and I believe they are accepted by unanimous consent unless there is an objection to them. So, I want to stress as I as I propose

003these corrections, what I would consider corrections or clarifications, if anyone objects to them, please make a motion to do so. That's the proper way according to Robert Jules's order. >> All right. >> Um, okay. Could we uh look briefly at the policy committee uh meeting agenda? I thought as I was uh thinking about these I thought minutes uh are a are a record of our actions as a board. Uh back in 2022 there was an interesting uh conversation on the board about the fact that the minutes not the YouTube recordings are our official record. Um and I thought as such uh minutes should be uh clear, factual and objective. I have three proposed changes on the policy committee meeting uh minutes. The first is under item one. Uh I'd suggest that we add an honorific

004uh Mr. to John Linda Moulder under 3B. uh 3A, 3B and 3 C do not reflect the uh order in which the uh meeting occurred. We did take policy 246 first, but we took policy 204 second. So, I'd like to suggest that we switch 3C and 3B. We took policy 146.1 last. And I think that will help anyone who's who in the future is trying to watch the meetings at the same time they are um they are looking at our uh minutes. And finally and I want to make sure I'm giving time for anyone to process these and and obviously we are eight we're nine co-equal uh board members. So if anyone wants to raise an objection please do so. Finally, under 3B, which again I suggest we switch to 3C, but for now I'll

005consider it 3B. Um, in the first sentence of minutes, the word after where it says shared with the committee that after it was not after, it should be during. And then the second paragraph of the minutes. Obviously, I was I was in the policy committee meeting and it would be very difficult for me to follow what that what that paragraph means. It would be very challenging for me to so trying to put myself in the place of of somebody who wasn't in the meeting, it would be extremely challenging. Here's the wording that I that I would like to propose. draft policy language was altered regarding student disciplinary policies and practices, as well as curriculum and planned instruction. I think that would be clearer for our residents to be able to understand. >> You said that

006was in the second paragraph. You wanted that added. >> Uh, no. I wanted to strike the second paragraph and insert that. I think the second paragraph is very hard to follow where it talks about additional language was added under item two. There's multiple item twos in in the draft policy. >> How did you want to order? >> You mean the language of that paragraph? >> No. Or did you >> Well, I'd like the order of the policies to reflect the order in which we addressed them during the meeting. >> And we addressed 246 first, 204 second, and 146.13. >> Any questions, comments, suggestions? Yes, ma'am. >> So, do you want to just take this paragraph out? >> Yes. and replace it with the wording that I suggested. >> You repeat that word. >> Absolutely. >>

007Sure. >> Um, draft policy language. Now, but by the way, this paragraph is talking about the alterations that the policy committee suggested that the policy committee came to consensus on having to do with policy 146.1. So my suggested change would be draft policy language was altered regarding student disciplinary policies and practices um as well as curriculum and planned instruction. You might recall that we suggested some changes under discipline discipline policy and uh or not discipline policy but the >> subheading of that policy deal with discipline and also curriculum and planned instruction. >> Okay. >> I just wanted to make sure I was absolutely Okay. Any questions about that or discussion, objections? Okay. I'm going to turn my attention then to the board meeting minutes. Um, some of these are much more important than others and

008I'll start with one that is mere merely for clarity. If we look under 9.1, we had a public comment and I think we meant to say please see the attached comment, not commented. And I know that these can take a while to open on our computers. Are we okay with me? >> Okay, absolutely. I'll wait. >> Yeah, everybody's loading. I don't know if this is appropriate or not and please someone tell me if it's not. In a case like that, when I read through the minutes, I will email Shelly and say, "Hey, D should say comment, not commented." And then she'll make the change and, you know, spit it out with the change. Someone told me to do that when I first went on the board. I'm just saying, >> can we make changes after

009after the agenda has been released before the >> meeting until Monday atm. Good. That'll be good to know in the future >> for incidentals like comment commented. Let her have a heads up first. >> Sure. Mrs. Hops, let me know when yours is opened and you're ready for me to proceed. >> It's currently it's a very large file. >> Okay. >> So, I would ask to the comments that you have made and the ones that you will be making if you could email that to me so I can show that these minutes are accurate as well. >> Absolutely. >> That's Okay. I have mine has just come up. >> Okay. >> Um so again that was under 9.1 under 13. So item 13 the second paragraph I'm sorry the third paragraph uh partway through the

010partway through the first sentence. Uh it says um he is concerned regarding the current I'd like to add the word funding otherwise it's not clear what the current gap would be to move this project forward. I'd like to add the word funding. And then under And I want to say very clearly that in my suggestions under item 16, I'm going to be balancing my suggestions are going to be an attempt to balance two things. I'm going to show respect for my board colleagues, all of whom I do deeply respect, but I'm also going to try to um make these minutes or I'm going to try to suggest changes that would u I think be a more accurate representation of the discussion that took place um and also would set a record straight. Uh so if

011everyone looks under item 16.1 at the last board meeting there was um there was a statement that um and I'm for anyone who's in the audience I happen to be chair of our policy committee. Uh there was a statement made that um that our policy committee was moving forward policies in a different way than had been done over the last two decades. Uh I did some digging into the minutes of uh of our records in 2019 and then 20 2021 through 2025. Um and we are not moving policies forward in a way that is different from the general practice under Mr. Ever who used to be our policy chair or Mrs. Sue Krauss who was our most recent uh recent uh policy chair. Um, I tried to put myself in the position of a member

012of the public who was hearing that concern and I thought, you know what, to be frank, if I thought that that a board was dramatically switching what had been their standard practice, that would cause me concern. Um, so I think that we should we should change. Now, that's that's not a discussion to get into at this point, except I'd like to clarify the language um to make it to make it clear that um that statements were made and the minutes can certainly reflect that, but the minutes should not um should not be phrased in a way that makes it sounds like those statements were necessarily factual. Here's what I'd like to suggest. In the second sentence, I'm gonna read from the second sentence. She questioned why the hurry to move this policy to first read

013when it was just discussed at the policy, let's add the word committee meeting on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026. Then I'd like to strike the words and I'll once I make these proposals I'll certainly give time for anyone to object if if if so needed. I'd like to strike the words in the past. Uh that is not factually accurate and I'd like to instead insert the words Mrs. Hollowal claimed that for two decades and then the sentence would continue. So going back to when Mr. Ron Ever chaired the policy committee. Once a policy was ready to move to first read, it sat for 30 days prior to it being placed on the agenda as a first read. Then I'd like to suggest she claimed so striking the word commented that when the 30 days is not

014allowed, there is no collective open discussion. I believe we probably meant to strike the word a and insert no chance to listen to individuals and I'd like to insert the word a lack of transparency. And I want to stress in in um making those suggestions, I'm trying to have the minutes accurately reflect the conversation that was had. And I also want to stress that we are all human, every single one of us. And we could all and what we say. Um, and I want to reiterate my my my respect for everyone on this board. Before I go on, um, is there any, uh, counter motion to that suggestion? Any discussion of that? >> Um, you don't need to change anything for me. I'm just would like to the record to reflect that my comments stand

015as presented. Uh, in the second paragraph, I'd like to suggest Mrs. Plank commented that policy 218.1 was at first read previously and it was sent back to policy committee. I'd like to strike the second sentence, which I don't believe is accurate, and insert, Mrs. Plank noted that at the last policy committee meeting, policy 218.1 was moved to first read. The third paragraph I have no no comments on the fourth paragraph I went back and confirmed that my memory was serving me correctly and I did not comment that maybe policy 003 needs to be reviewed or clarified. I did answer a question regarding what policy would be necessary if we chose to do that. Um, so I'd like to strike my name from that paragraph and Mrs. Young Cover's name should be corrected. Um, I believe,

016please tell me if I'm wrong. I noted that uh a portion of our discussion as a board was left out of this. And I'd like to note that our minutes don't have to they do not have to include discussion. uh they they have to by our policies include the matters that were up for vote and they have to include the votes that were taken. They do not have to include discussion. But if we choose for them to have discussion, it needs to be comprehensive and objective. So in light of that, I would like to suggest that we add a portion of the discussion that did not um that was not included. and it happens to be a portion of the discussion that I made, although I'd feel the same if someone else had made it.

017I'd like to suggest Mr. Matthew Lustig stated that he believes it is important that the public be able to understand that our actions are within policy and he noted that in bringing policy 218.1 forward to first read, we are following our policy 003 and acting within state law. He noted that the public has had access to proposed policy 218.1 for 4 days prior to the policy committee meeting and two weeks between that meeting and the board meeting and would have an additional four weeks before second read. Next paragraph, I'd like to suggest um just one change. I'd like to suggest that between the words that and allows, which I think actually should be allow, but that we insert uh she claimed. And that is the that is the sum of my suggestions. anyone could make

018a a comment or a or a council motion. >> I guess I just have um a concern that you are somewhat rewriting the minutes here and no one has had a chance to look at them or is there a way that we could have done this without taking 18 minutes of board time when we have 15 little ones here? What's what's the common protocol? This has never happened before. Dr. Deshong, do you have a a >> I think going back to what Mrs. Hob shared, these are some things that we could uh suggested prior, but to Mrs. Halibal's point, every single one of us could go around and probably suggest edits of she said this, you said this, you said this, and we could go around and around with this. But to your point, Mr.

019to uh not adding any commentary in these if that's going forward because if this is what we'll do every time then we will continue this can happen every single meeting where we'll just continue to uh read the minutes and then every one of us could go around and say well I want to strike this I want to add this because you said this he said this she said that. So, um, but yeah, I'm Yeah. >> I mean, would it be appropriate? And I don't know. I wish Gareth was here to ask him this. I mean, Mrs. Hobbs sends out the minutes. We read them. Can we send our edits back to her and have her redo them and then send them out? I just I I don't know what is appropriate here, but I just

020feel very badly that we have all these little children here and we're nitpicking over minutes. I don't I mean I I do feel like maybe some of that were minor changes, but I do feel like it was appropriate to correct the record and because I believe that it was, you know, out in the public that we were doing something that was different from before and we were not. So I feel like that was very important to correct. And so I would think probably going forward if it's something of that nature, it should be addressed in our public meeting. If there are minor changes, um, changing a word, changing a misspelling, I don't see why that couldn't be shared with Shelley prior to our meeting >> to save time. >> Sure. Yeah. I think it's important

021that the record uh be accurate and I also think that it's important that it um not cause public concern over over um over something that is not the case. >> As I said, my comments stand and I would rather we not spend time doing this unless it's at this extent and you felt that it needed to be redone. I just I don't think this is good use of board time. Are there any objections to amending the minutes? I might add too again. Um, unless I think all of us want to sit down and probably reco, you know, the recording of the YouTube video again. Uh, Mrs. uh Hollow, Mrs. Lintmore, again, we could go around and do this with everybody. Like, well, wait a second. I didn't say this. I actually said that. I think

022that's where we run into challenges or issues here. Now, Mr. Lustig is seeing it probably from his perspective, and he may very well have done this. And Miss Hollow's point, no one else is really given the opportunity to go back and uh look at what they said or didn't say. Um, so I think that's where we're somewhat at a disadvantage uh with just going with what one person said who was prepared to come here tonight to say these things. So that's where I see the challenge with it being well. I mean, I think according to Robert's rules of order, unless there is a a motion made to object that we move forward with the minutes as amended. Is that not correct? >> Andre, >> by the way, I care a great deal about accuracy. If

023anyone would I don't know if we have the liberty to do this, Mrs. Hobs, but if anyone would like to table this and refer back to the um back to the reporting, I would have no objection to that. >> That would be a board decision. >> Is there any objection to amending the minutes as per what Mr. Lusty has shared? Okay, hearing none, I'm going to do a a vote. Um, so all in favor of the uh amended minutes, I please say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? >> No. >> The minutes are approved. Uh, we're moving on to recognition of delegation and we have Miss Payton Plank here to do the student representative report. Good evening to our upcoming event is an annual event that we hold here to help raise money for the

024four diamonds which is to help children and families. The mini team and each committee has been working very hard to make this event possible. So far we have over who have donated to the cause and our theme this year is the wizard of the yellow. This Friday, March 13th, we conducted our annual stall day where students bring in their spare change to donate to the stall their teachers required to change until their classes start. This is always good and fun. Good and fun. fun motivation to donate for a great cause. After the change was counted, students donated a grand total of 674 which is stand out from our VHS student body. We will update with a grand total of our many donations announced on the night of the event, but the stall change will be

025a great addition to the total. Thank you so much for your support. Does anybody have any questions for Miss Plank? >> Thank you. >> We're going to go ahead on under this too. Uh we have Miss Mason. uh she actually could fall under Miss Hollibal's Caner Foundation report, but we're going to go ahead because she has some students with her to come up and and share now about some great things that are going on when with Miss Mason's class and her students and uh what the Caner uh uh foundation has helped to support. >> Miss Mason, thanks for being here. >> Can we move over here? Are we blocking anything? We can spread out. >> You can store the space. >> Okay. I brought Davian and Kayn and Tori. We were supposed to have Julian

026as well, but apparently his grandparents popped in unexpectedly and he couldn't couldn't get away. >> They're more important than us. Right. >> Right. Yes. Maybe something to do with the ride. Um, essentially we are here because I sent a thank you to the Caner Foundation. We received money for um the Friday Favorite initiative. And so essentially what a Friday favorite is is the English teachers for 9th and 10th grade. So basically Miss McDaniel and I and Miss Leser is new to it. She hasn't really contributed any yet. But we get to choose books that we liked and we take the opening page. So it's all different genres and it's all different reading levels and we use it as test prep on Fridays. And every single Friday, unless it's a half day or something like that,

027the students get this piece of literature and they read it and they go through and they have an annotation prompt and then they also have a constructed response and it helps them to do better on the Keystone exam when they take it in the spring. And um we use the gift cards because anybody who gets a 15 out of 15, you get five points for annotations, you get 10 points for constructive response. Anybody who gets a 15 out of 15 gets their name in a drawing. And every week we pull a name and then the student there's a ninth grade winner and a 10th grade winner each get a $5 gift card. And so the Caner Foundation gives us money that we can spend on our $5 gift cards. And we have so many things.

028We have Chick-fil-A, we have Mr. Cheese, we have Subway, we have Chipotle, we have Olive Garden, we have DQ, we have Friendlies, the list goes on. And um anyway, so I had written to the Caner Foundation to thank them because my one student Julian, who's with his grandparents tonight, um he had a reputation of like coming into 10th grade having slept through a lot of the Friday favorites. He didn't enjoy them. He often took a zero. He just didn't turn it in. And this year, he's like a new child, right? And so he's been working and he'll come to me and he'll say, "Is this analysis long enough?" Because I like them to have a three sentence analysis to go with their quote. And in December, he got 15 out of 15. And then, as

029luck would have it, and I didn't even plan this. This was totally purely coincidental. I reached into the sophomore class and I pulled out a name and it was Julian. And I was like, "Oh my gosh, this is perfect." He was so happy. And so that's why I wrote and then Dr. Duchong and Mrs. Halabal wrote back and they said, "Please come to the board meeting and tell that story." And so here I am. Um, but I brought a couple examples. I'm gonna let who's talking first? Who wants to go first? Fabian. Okay. Because you're gonna talk about the format. So then I'll pull that out. So you do your thing and then I'll get back to doing mine. >> Um specifically what I like about five favorites is that it's like it's challenging. It's

030very challenging. Um at the beginning of year we had a old format which consisted of um we pull a quote from the text and then we give a short explanation of it. >> Yep. Like that. And >> I think it was December when we changed. >> Yeah. December we changed to a newer format where we used everything from the old format combine it to a longer prompt. Um I mainly like it because once we got used to the old format and it was getting easier, we switched to something harder which it just challenged us way more. And every week is something different and it allows us to explore many genres of books because I I don't really like reading. Um, but it it opened me up to a lot of genres that I like. >>

031Good job. And so like we have Black Cake is the one that if you see here at the top, this is where they would choose their quote and then they would write their three sentence analysis. And when it switches over, it changes to just a constructed response. And then as David pointed out earlier today, he said that one of the things he liked is we always give them what they should look for. So it sort of chunks it, gives them an idea of how they like what they should focus on if they want to just do like what is expected on the Keystone exam to to write a a solid paragraph that's approximately seven sentences in length. Um we've also covered text though like the names which is by Florence Snap. She's a debut novelist.

032It is one of the greatest books ever written. Everybody should read it. >> What is it? >> The Names. >> Oh, it's brilliant. It is so brilliant. I'll tell you about it, not at the board meeting. Um, Jaws, a classic. This one is so cool because you have to think about the perspective of the the woman in the water and the shark. Yeah, The Outsiders, which is cool. This is the only book I can't keep in my classroom. It's stolen year after year after year. I've spent so much money on The Outsiders. Um, we do a graphic novel so they can practice analyzing illustrations and talking about that. We even pull in Dr. Seuss with the butter battle book. So, they thought that was fun. We did that one last year right before the um

033Keystone. This is Zebra Forest. This was amazing because she is from Pennsylvania and she actually spoke at the Adams County Public Library one year. Her name is Adena Gwartz, I think is how you say it. She had a wonderful voice. Miss Darnner was with me and she said I could listen to her talk for hours. She was so cool. Um, A Good Girls Guide to Murder. This one is cool because one, it's Netflix thing. two, the format is different, so it makes him think. And then, Remarkably Bright Creatures, which the movie is coming out, starring Sally Field. Everybody should see that. You should read the book if you haven't. So good. >> Okay. Who's up next? >> Okay. >> Um, I'm going be completely honest. At the beginning of the year, I did not like

034Friday favorites. I was not a fan because I actually felt like I I had a challenge because as someone who grew up advanced classes and in enrichment and in gateways. I haven't really come across things that give me trouble and Friday favorites do. And I do really enjoy writing and I enjoy making these like text dependent analysises analyses. Um, and I just feel like it's a really really good way to track my progress because even like in English class, I've never really had as much writing as I want to because I that's just one of my favorite things to do and you just never have enough time to do it. So having that outlet in class every week is definitely something that I look forward to now. >> Yeah. So I really don't like English.

035That's why I brought her. Um, but for the past, what is it, eight years, we've been doing TDAs and they're very structured and based on this long story about like two kids. I don't know. They're like, it's the same variation every single time. It was super boring. Hated it. Um, did that for what, eight years? And now we're coming to freshman year. We're doing these Friday favorites. and I actually enjoy them, which is crazy to me. I didn't think that was going to happen. Um, yeah. So, we read through the thing, we do a constructive response, and it's it's a it's like uh more it's it's a little more creative. >> Yeah, it's more creative. >> Yeah. >> Um cuz I hate like, you know, it's so structured. I hate the structure. So this creative

036response is really interesting. I like it. >> Yeah. And Kayn I I told her recently like her voice is really starting to shine through. So you've got like you've got the outline that Dave Van commented on. I really like that it's on the board. I project it every Friday. They can see it and then their confidence grows and they're like, "Oh, now I can use my actual voice and I can be a little bit like Caitlyn. She likes to be she's very concise in her analysis and sometimes she throws in a zinger that makes me laugh the wording of it and you can just hear her like she would say it. So, it's very cool. >> But I think part of the buy in like you won a gift card. >> Yeah, I did. I

037have a gift card to Marshalls. >> Still haven't used it, but I'm thinking about getting Dubai chocolate >> which is more than $5. >> It does. >> Crazy. >> Yeah, >> that's what I'm thinking about. She just has to pull my name. Yeah. Yeah. >> So anyway, that's Friday favorites in a nutshell and we're able to keep it going because can Caner Foundation is willing to believe in our our goal here and the test scores are positive too and they keep going up. So that's good. >> Seeing it come full cycle when I read the grant I couldn't quite wrap my head around exactly how this was going to work. So yeah, >> hearing these three enthusiastic voices was very helpful. Thank you very much. >> I would say I was talking to one some

038of my eighth graders today and they said, "Oh, we've heard about the Friday favorites." Because I told them I was coming tonight. I was like, "And I know you hear that the kids don't like them, but >> when you talk to them in ninth and tth grade, but then you talk to them in 11th grade when they've gotten their test scores and they come back, they've come back many a time and they said, "Thank you for making us do those. They actually really made me feel confident going into the Keystone and I passed." Tyler Johnson got advanced. >> Yeah. Okay. Do you guys have any questions? >> No. I think it's >> observation. I got to tell you, your energy levels >> through the roof. >> Oh, love it. >> I like to talk about

039books. >> You got come to a board meeting and talk about that stuff. >> I know. >> I give it up to you guys. Amen. You guys, >> they're pretty amazing. I said, >> well, I'm pretty amazed right now. So, >> Mrs. Granger came over to my room at lunch today and I had just finished meeting with these guys and I said, I just have to say I really like my students. She said, "Well, that's a great thing. >> I do. I really like my students." >> Let me uh offer this, which might be an encouragement to you. Uh I have uh a lifetime friend who uh was told in a high school English class that he had that he had to produce two articles on any topic that he wished. And uh my friend

040is a very avid angller and so he he produced these two articles and submitted them and they were indeed published >> nice. >> And now uh after about 50 years of writing he has published over 1,700 articles >> good for >> on fish fishing conservation and you know the water environment. So you know that you know that those are sort of exciting to think about how these steps at this age could lead to something really wonderful in the future. >> Yeah. >> Very good. >> Thank you very much. >> Thank you for having me. Thanks guys. Appreciate it. Hey, Miss Mason, I really appreciate too you brought people that just honestly, you know, like they weren't plants, you know, they they said what they said. >> Authentically myself and I like students who are authentically

041themselves. >> Nice. >> Like be you. It's what you do best, right? >> Thank you for coming. >> Thank you for having us, Mr. K. >> Hey, Mr. Curser, thank you so much for being here, too. We have another super duper highlight from Biglerville Elementary School. We got some fantastic kiddos here ready to light it up. They're already lighting the room up as it is. We appreciate moms and dads for bringing them. Miss Pelp, thanks for being here. So, yes, thanks, Mr. Kurt Center. >> So, Mrs. Kissner's back for another run. You know, she had her last month. She couldn't get enough board meetings, so asked her to come back. So, Mrs. Kissner is our gifted education teacher for she does elementary, intermediate, and some even some middle school. So, um, one of the things

042she does beyond just working with our gifted students at Big Elementary is she does enrichment with a lot of our other kids who aren't technically identified as gifted, but kids who need a challenge and need pushed. And she's going to talk to you a little bit and she has some students are going to talk to you a little bit about enrichment. So, I'm going to turn it over to Mrs. Kissner and some let me just show a little more first. All right. So, I do uh the gifted and enrichment and at Bingler Bell Elementary School and they're two days out of the cycle and our goal is to provide some challenging instruction to students who show a mastery of grade level concepts. And so what happens with our kindergarteners, our first and our second graders

043is there's a huge range of skill levels that they bring in with them. And so, uh I do some pull out with some kids to kind of challenge them a little bit more. There you see one of our first graders. She's working with Quez and air rods to show values of numbers. Um, and so the enrichment program actually begins in the fall with whole class lessons because I want to see everyone across the board. And so this year I saw every first grader, every second grader, every third grader uh, for multiple lessons. I did more in first grade and then fewer in second and third grade because I already knew a lot of the kids. And we worked with some things with creativity, logical reasoning, and visual thinking. And so a lot of what we

044do whole class is in terms of very easy matrix logic problems, deduction problems where they're trying to guess a mystery number, um tang activities where we're trying to manipulate objects in space and think, well, how could these objects fit together? Then after I've done some whole class lessons, we work to identify students by both test scores and also teacher recommendation for the pull out enrichment sessions. And so in our pull out enrichment sessions in math enrichment, we look at grade level standards in greater depth than in the regular class. So we'll talk take a look at a few of them here. Uh we have cow with a geo board. And so we use the geo boards for multiple for multiple kinds of lessons. Here cal has made us a quadrilateral but we also use them

045for symmetry. Uh and looking at on the other side we have a circle and so we can look use that for fraction work. Cora is gonna tell us about a division problem that they worked on in second grade. >> Division. One morning the owner got 18 new. She had three empty aquariums to put them. If she puts the same number of fish in each tank, how many will be in each? >> And so for second grade, this is this takes some thinking. And so they ended up drawing. May I show your picture? They ended up drawing out the fish and so they have to think about division as equal parts. And so how many ended up in each tank? >> Do you remember the division fact for that? >> 18 by three equals six. Awesome.

046Thank you, Kora. And then Lachlin uh is here. She's going to show us a math mystery which is very popular. Uh, and these are little mini deduction activities where they have to do some math at the bottom and then they solve a deductive puzzle. And I think in this one you had to figure out uh who had lost the letter. Um, and then if you look up there, this I'm especially proud of because this took place over multiple grade levels. We made frogs and then in multiple grade levels we looked at that as a springboard for pattern counting and for looking at the multiplication fact because you can do so many things. Two eyes on each frog that becomes skip counting. Four legs on each frog then skip counting by fours. And then we also

047do ELA enrichment. Here we have some students who are putting items in order from least important to most important for building a dog house. and Lachlan and Eloise are going to share with us a little uh structured sentences activity that they worked on. Uh the goal here was I gave them very specific guidelines for writing a sentence and then within those guidelines they had some creativity. >> I am very very surprised. >> The first sentence was suppose you wake up one morning and you are a duck. How do you feel? >> And Eloise, what was your next sentence to read? uh they had to write a question and of course in second grade we're working on a lot of question marks, punctuation and then last of all what did you write about? >> My pond

048is very very beautiful and sweet. >> Would you like to read yours Eloise? >> Nice. And so they had to write that last sentence using two adjectives. And so we made a long list on the board of all the different adjectives we could think of. Thank you ladies. And Evelyn, would you like to share something that you have done in ELA enrichment? >> I really enjoy doing >> and they were all and they were all square numbers. So, we did an exploration in second grade of square numbers where they used the inch tiles to figure out, well, what numbers are square numbers? And then we made a poster to advertise for square club. Uh, and then they could come up with, you know, what would the phone number be? What would the times be? Well,

049for square club, we'd meet at 1:00. Any other times that you remember for square club? What other time did we meet? nine o'clock and four o'clock, of course, because they're all squared numbers. Thank you. All right. And then over the course of the school year, I see about 65 students in the pool out enrichment. And it gets to be pretty flexible as teachers come to me. Sometimes I'll say, "Hey, I have this kid. Uh, can you provide me with some more activities for them?" Sometimes I send home some papers and we kind of work one hand inand uh to figure out what can we do best to help out these kids. Um, and then at the end of the year, we finish up enrichment with a whole class walk on the nature trail. And I

050just love taking students out there. It's challenging for classroom teachers to get their kids out there a lot. And so I figure for myself as that extra person, we can do some more um whole class enrichment so everyone gets that opportunity to be out there. All right. Thank you so much to my helpers. Did you have anything else to say? Thank you so much for coming. You did wonderful. >> And do you have any questions about enrichment? >> Amazing. >> I just want to say it is so important to meet students at the level they are at. I think uh in my own teaching career I often think about something that I call constructive struggle, right? where we are challenging students at the level that they are capable of rather than just giving them problems

051that are easy for them. Right. And it sounds like you're doing exactly that. So, >> and sometimes students have that moment and I'll say, "I'm not I'm going to set a timer. I'm not going to help you for three minutes because I want you to have some time to try this out and then come to me with questions." Right. >> And often they can figure it out in that time. >> Thank you. >> Very good. >> Mr. Kisser, I might add, too. You said you're an extra teacher, but you are a needed teacher. So, thank you. >> You also bring a lot of energy. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Thank you for being here. Thanks, moms and dads. Appreciate you guys coming. Thank you so much. >> Yes. >> Outstanding. >> All right, moving

052on to public comment. We have none. We also do not have any correspondence. So we are going to jump to reports. The LIU board report. Dr. Deshawn. >> Yes. I just ask you to please see the report. If you have any questions on that, just please let me know. Thank you. >> Well, that was quick. >> There there. So it's it's basically the business of the LIU. I if there's some things I want to highlight, I there's but but otherwise it's just the business of the Liu approving, you know, things personnel and things of that nature. So, yeah. >> All right. Uh there you are with federal programs. Dr. Al, >> good evening everyone. Just real quick, two things. We're still waiting on the funding adjustments coming from the state. Uh depending on the year,

053sometimes they're a little later, sometimes they're earlier. Um so, I hope to receive them. Uh Mrs. Hobs are probably two, three weeks, I would think. Hopefully. So, uh hopefully next month we'll have a update for you. Uh and also, I put on here hopefully I must steal Mr. Kursed Thunder in his reports, but we're running an afterchool program right now down at Big Liber Elementary for the Title One program uh for those kids that need a little extra help. Currently have about I think 35 38 uh kids in there. It runs two days a week uh when our teachers are helping out with that. So it's it's our fifth year doing it. It's always well attended, well received. So >> thank you. >> Any questions for Mr. Alen? >> Thank you, Mr. Alen. >> Thank

054you. Uh Mr. Last day, do you have a report for >> I do indeed. Uh it's always a joy to be able to speak about Cumberland Perry. Uh I'm learning more and more about their programs and uh today I have um four programs where the students during their class experiences are actually uh accomplishing um various major steps toward their career. For example, uh the cosmetology uh program um uh is working at at the at during their classes for their licensing exam, which of course would then qualify them uh for uh their career. The automotive technology and diesel technology programs uh are have just completed the PENDOT safety inspection and admission inspection certificate programs. I mean, this is really neat stuff. They're doing that in school. They don't have to uh do that after they get

055out of high school. The dental assisting uh students have uh completed their radiology exams. That sounds pretty >> pretty complex. I don't think I'd want to have to do that myself. >> Uh, the criminal justice students have completed emergency communication training provided by the Cumberland County communication staff. I thought that was interesting. Really very very helpful. And uh, one last one. This I don't know that we would want this to happen here locally, although it would be perhaps um quite newsworthy. Students in the early childhood education program soaked Mr. Nouse with ice water as part of recent fundraising effort or special Olympics. Good, good plan. >> And that concludes my report. >> Does anybody have any questions for Mr. Leic? Thank you. >> Uh Miss Salibball, do you have a >> just briefly? Um, I

056hope you saw um Katie Schroeder's letter to uh the Gettysburg Times recently regarding the Canor Foundation. If you didn't see it, um please look it up or I can send it to you. She did a great job um showcasing what the um Caner Educational Foundation is all about. Um the uh the board was able to secure the help of a local woman who whose career has been in seeking grants and writing grants and she is helping us tremendously um as we try to look at the bigger picture on some things that perhaps people in the district or I'm sorry teachers or admin in the district might want but that we simply can't afford in our budget. and uh she's looking at um applying to some grants perhaps to underwrite some of them. She's making really

057good progress. Um every year the Caner Foundation gives a $1,000 grant to the different schools in in the district and um this year Mrs. Buckley um was the recipient of the $1,000 and I'm learning that she is going to use this $1,000 for a 3D printer, two drones and volleyballs. Good. Good. Good job. Um and that's it. Make sure you look for that article, please. It's a great very well written. >> That's it. >> Does anybody have any questions for Miss Fwell? >> Thank you. >> Uh, moving on to administrative reports. Does anybody have any questions or comments for our administrators who are here? >> I just wanted to comment on the costumes for the doctor the Dr. Seuss uh day. >> That looked like fun. It was >> um the only thing only any

058comment I had I I do always enjoy reading all them and I just want to give a shout out to all of our administrators. It just amazes me um at what all what all you do all of you. Um and I just appreciate it very much and I know our our children do as well. So thank you. >> Anyone else? No. All right. We're moving on to the superintendent report. Dr. traditional. >> Okay, here's my longer one, Mr. CL. >> So, again, I want to thank uh Bigger Girl Elementary School and Miss Mason uh for being here this evening and presenting some of the great things going on in our school. Uh since our last meeting in March, uh a lot has taken place as as we would expect. I had the opportunity to visit

059with our primary and intermediate schools where students were involved uh in their yearly cultural arts fair. Students rotated through various stations uh pertaining to a number of aspects of early native culture from dance, cave paintings, and symbols and their interpretations to ways they hunted and gathered food. Kudos to our teachers for their planning and preparation in providing our learners with a fantastic hands-on learning experience. Big shout out to Mrs. Graham, Dr. Swope, Mrs. Aut, and other team members for their thorough parent meeting surrounding block scheduling on February 18th. Parents and students were provided information about the change with a Q&A form that followed. Our counselors and administrative team continue to work with students as they schedule for next year and we appreciate all the planning and preparation our secondary faculty and administration has put into

060scheduling uh the scheduling format over going on two years now. Our USA our upper Adam school district artificial intelligence team continues to meet and work on how AI can be used an effective learning tool and the various platforms that are available for usage. On April 8th, we will have a guest presenter from Millersville University on our secondary campus. Dr. Oliver Dion will be speaking with our middle school and high school teachers and students in the afternoon. And then at 6 pm he will be doing a presentation for parents and community members. You are all invited to join the discussion in the learning comments from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on April 8th. Light refreshments will be available. Uh board members, you have uh an invitation. Actually, you have it right there, Mrs. Young right there to

061your left there. And I think everybody else has that. So, everybody here in the audience, everybody watching, I know Mr. Douglas is going to get the advertisement up. Uh Mrs. Graham and Mr. brew. We're going to be getting up and then we'll be also sending the invitation out uh across the district for April 8th uh for a discussion in the evening uh from 6:00 to 7:00 on artificial intelligence and uh all the v some of the various aspects of it. We can't hide or run from it. It's there. I think we all know that. So, uh Mrs. Henry, uh Mr. Dwire and I are working on reaching out to our cyber charter families to invite them back to Upperatams. Mrs. Henry and Mr. wire are working with students to create somewhat of a district profile

062that we'll be sending out to those families later in the spring. Kudos to Mrs. Miller and her VOAG students for a successful FFA spirit week that ended in the tractor parade and a Olympics as well as the ensuing a literacy week where VOAG students worked with elementary students on all things agricultural. Also a shout out to our Latinics club who did a fundraiser making and selling tostados for a field trip. The stados were delicious and they sold out leaving many people wanting more. So, it was amazing to actually go down to the outside of the auditorium where the the concession stand is. It was packed with students. So, but fortunately, we were able to do some pre-ordering for for staff for the fine stand. Otherwise, we would have never gone. I don't got through it.

063So, >> um where we at here? >> Sorry, Stephen. See you. >> All right. Um, oh yeah, Mrs. Graham and Mr. Brewer and I met with our secondary student forum on March 3rd to discuss items of interest and concern with students in grades 7 through 12. Uh, topics that students spoke about were testing a potential addition of new clubs as well as artificial intelligence. Student voice and insight is important and helps us think through planning for the future. Congratulations to all of our winter sports athletes and the things that you accomplished. Not just the wins or the losses, but the time you spent in building team through practice and competition. Thank you winter coaches for your time investment. Spring sports begun and we wish our spring sport athletes a successful season. We also appreciate Mr.

064Graham working through anybody has any kids or anything in sport spring sports. There was a lot of cancellations and rescheduling and that takes a lot of time and energy and working with other people and teams and school districts. So, we appreciate Mr. Graham and the coaches and everybody's flexibility and patience as they work through that with the weather. Uh, so speaking of the weather, we want to thank our parents and families uh and our admin teachers and transportation department for being flexible yesterday with the tricky weather that was forecasted uh and with our early dismissal. So, we appreciate everybody and their patience and understanding uh through that. If you didn't know, every single school in our LIU area and surrounding area, Franklin Adams and York, I think all uh cut out because of the uh

065the potential of some rough weather. It didn't happen, but it could have happened. >> Yeah. >> Last and most certainly not least, uh as most of you know, Upper Adams lost Christopher Lopez, a 2025 BHS graduate in a training accident at Letter Cany Army Depot last week. Mrs. Graham and her team alongside district administration had support in place for students and our faculty and staff. Condolences to the Lopez family. We are deeply sorry for your loss. Public viewing will be held at the Biggerville High School auditorium on March 28th from 10 to 1 with a service to follow at 1 p.m. >> Any questions for Dr. Don? >> Thank you, Dr. Uh Mr. Listig, could I ask you to do the treasures report, please? >> Yes. Uh as we look on our computers there at

06612.1, uh financial report ending 0228 2026 and condensed board summary report for 02206. You'll see uh uh that information in the attachment um which is rather extensive. Uh 12.2 two, food service fund statement of operations ending 0228 2026 and uh there uh a a large amount of information likewise available in the attachment uh 12.3 uh student activity fund ending 0228 uh again please note the attachment and would you like me to proceed to Uh, finance 13.1. Um, >> not yet. Okay. I I don't have anything further uh than what I just said. >> Can we get a second? >> A second. >> All right. Are there any questions? >> Okay. Can I have a roll call, please? >> Miss Sanders? >> Yes. Miss Young? >> Yes. >> Miss Jalal? Yes, >> Mrs. Hollowell. >> Yes,

067>> Mr. Matthew Lustik. >> Yes, >> Mr. Lynon Moulder. >> Yes, >> Mr. Lauren Lustik. >> Yes. Yes, >> Mrs. Plank. >> Yes. >> Thank you. All >> right, the next item is consent agenda items. Uh, is there anything that anyone would like to pull out of the consent agenda? This is something that you know we uh we don't go individually so we just vote on the entire if I could I would like to pull out the uh capital reserve recommendations for a separate discussion please. If there's nothing else that anyone would like to pull out could we have a roll call please? I need a motion >> for what? >> Can I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any other questions before we vote? >> Roll call, please. >> Mr. Matthew

068Lustik. >> Yes. >> Miss Anders? >> Yes. >> Miss Jalaw? >> Yes. >> Mr. Lauren Leic? >> Yes. >> Mr. Lynon Moulder? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hollow? >> Yes. Miss Young Cover. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Plank. >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> I need to do a separate motion then for the >> Yes. >> Okay. Could I get a motion to approve the 2627 capital reserve recommendations? >> So moved. >> I have a second. >> Second. >> Thank you. Uh, one of the reasons that I wanted to pull it out is I we had received an email, but I wanted all the board members to be clear because I know I question it um every time it comes up, but what we're actually approving is we are giving the district permission and approval authority to

069move forward with getting additional information. So, we all know that we have a large amount on there for the auditorium. We still have a lot of outstanding questions related to that particular expense but this is simply giving them approval for those I think they were labeled as once high priority. So if anything before anything is done if there's there's not going to be a purchase or move forward with a project until they come back to the board to give us additional information to get approval. I just wanted everybody to understand what we're actually approving at this point. Does anybody have any questions before we >> No, but thanks for clarifying. >> Yeah, >> you're welcome. >> And that would imply, I believe, that in voting yes for the capital reserve recommendations, we are not uh

070obligating any expenditure. Is that true? >> That is true. We are just giving approval for them to move forward to get additional information to bring back to the board on those items and then they could come back individually. >> Again, >> any other questions? >> Can we have a roll call to approve then the capital reserve recommendation? >> Miss Sanders. >> Yes. >> Malo. Yes, >> Mrs. Hollow. >> Yes, >> Mr. Lindon. >> Yes, >> Mr. Lauren Lustik. >> Yes, >> Mr. Matthew Listik. >> Yes, >> Michelle Cover. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Plank. >> Yes. Thank you. >> All right, moving on to committee reports. Uh, finance. Mr. Lustik, could I ask you to take that as well? >> Yes. Uh as we look at 14.1 finance uh just a couple of things uh to

071consider under 1A uh very pleased to uh see here that that there has been a donation from the South Mountain Ottabbon Society uh books for the Biglerville Elementary School Library as per the attached document. You can see the attachment down below. Uh secondly, $300 from the Arnville Lions Club for the Future Farmers of America. Uh then, uh item two, uh 2026 2027 LIIU filter renewal as per the attached document. This represents a decrease of $1,200 from the 2025 2026. Uh, and then three, 2026 2027 CSIU E service contract renewal not to exceed $23,000 $23,500 which represents an approximate increase of $1,500 from the 2025 2026 contract as per the attached document. Um, and that concludes the finance report. >> Thank you. So moved. Can I get a second? >> Second. >> Are there any questions,

072Mr. Listic? >> Can I have a roll call, please? >> Mrs. Hollow? >> Yes. >> Mr. Lindon? >> Yes. >> Mr. Matthew Leic? >> Yes. >> Miss Young? >> Yes. >> Miss Anders? >> Yes. >> Miss Jal? >> Yes. >> Mr. Lauren Leic? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Plank? >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> Uh, personnel, Mr. Leic? >> Yes. As we look at personnel uh notice a brief uh report here uh listed under 6A uh recommend approval of the following volunteers. Shila Martinez retroactive to 352026 and D Mner retroactive to 316 2026. I always uh appreciate seeing uh the opportunity to uh honor our volunteers and thank them for their service. under uh 6B uh which is the Kelly Education Listings. Uh they're under B3 under permanent staff. Please notice the two names, Corey Buyers

073and Sage Hayes. And that concludes my report. Recommend approval. >> Second. So move. Yeah. >> Are there any questions? Could I have a roll call, please? >> Mr. Lynen Moulder? >> Yes. >> Miss Anders? >> Yes. >> Miss Young Cover? >> Yes. >> Miss Jalal? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hollow? >> Yes. >> Mr. Lauren Lustik? >> Yes. >> Mr. Matthew Lustik? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Plank? >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> Right. Moving on to property. We don't have anything. Transportation. Miss Sanders. >> Yes. I recommend the approval for Robert Schuman for Jacob's second. Any questions? >> Okay. All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? >> Let's see. Let me curriculum. We have nothing. Athletics, we have nothing. Other student activities. Uh, Mr. Lyn. >> Yes. >> Oh, I do. >> Yes, you do.

074Uh recommend approval for the following overnight trips. Essports to Point Park University Competition Pittsburgh, PA 320 32126. >> Second. >> Motion and a second. Are there any questions? All in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? >> Right. We're moving. >> Sorry, Maria. Moving on to policy review committee. Uh, Mr. Listic. >> Yes. First of all, I'd like to thank uh Dr. Shong and Mrs. Hobbs and Mr. Alban and my colleagues uh on the policy committee for moving forward two policies this evening. I recommend approval of the following uh first read policies. That would be uh policy policy number 204 attendance and policy number 246 student wellness. So move >> second a motion and second. Are there any questions? >> Can I have a roll call, please? >> Miss John Cover. >> Yes. >>

075Miss Anders? >> Yes. >> Miss Jalong? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hollow? Yes, >> Mr. Lynon Boulder. >> Yes, >> Mr. Lauren Lustik. >> Yes, >> Mr. Matthew Listik. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Plank. >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> And uh recommend approval of the following second read policy, policy 218.1, weapons. >> So moved. Have a motion and a second. Are there any questions? >> No. Have a roll call, please. >> Mr. Jal. >> Yes. Miss John C. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hollow. >> Yes. >> Mr. Lennon Mer. >> Yes. >> Mr. Matthew Lustik. >> Yes. >> Miss Anders. >> Yes. >> Mr. Lauren Lustik. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Plank. >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> All right. We are to miscellaneous agenda items. LIU board election. You'll notice in your folders that you have a

076ballot for the 2026 annual school board director's election to elect members to the Lincoln Intermediate Board of Directors. If you could complete that and give that back to Shellyley, that would be great. Payment of the bills. Can I get a motion to approve the bills and pay them? So moved. >> Second. Any questions on any of the bills? You had a roll call, please. >> Mr. Lyner. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hollow. >> Yes. >> Miss Jal. >> Yes. >> Mr. Matthew Lustik. >> Yes. >> Miss Anders, >> yes. >> Miss John Cobber, >> yes. >> Mr. Lauren Lustik, >> yes. >> Mrs. Plank, >> yes. >> Thank you. >> Business. Is there any old business? Any new business? Items and general information. The school board committee meetings. The policy committee meeting will be on April
