uh okay um a roll call please mrs krause here mr everett you're here mr fee here mr halibut president mr wilson here thank you all right we executive session this evening was for advice from the solicitor as well as the personnel issues so we move on to the agenda do i hear a motion to approve the agenda as written it's removed second motion before the board to approve the agenda is written second is any discussion hearing none all in favor of motion say aye aye opposed motion carries item seven on your agenda is the approval of uh several sets of minutes from various meetings so i hear a motion to approve all of those minutes second motion before the board to approve the minutes in your agenda listed as item seven it's been seconded any

discussion hearing none all in favor of the motion opposed carries we move on to delegations the student report any comments from anyone on the student report the student's not here i don't think well i wanted to congratulate the students their report listed uh they raised 500 from a miniathon as well as a blood drive in honor of a student that was killed in an automobile accident several months ago they exceeded their their goal by 16 over 116 percent of the goal they set for themselves so congratulations to that group the next set of uh representatives in your agenda is the national art honor society and the national honor society the there are so many names that would take too long to list them all but i want to in the in the name of the

board congratulate each of those students for their their uh induction into that into those two honor societies congratulations to each of you i think the list was well you have it in front of you but it's uh looks like maybe 60 or 60 70 names so congratulations any comments from anyone on the on the honor society inductees okay we go to public comment idi sarnoff last month to discuss and clarify why many elements of the anti-racism initiative now that i have seen with session three from your april 10th i see even more clearly why this district needs to stand against these concerning elements i'd like to make four points please do not judge others by category do not assume and perfect bias in others thereby demoralizing them and you could simply give up these never-ending

surveys and teacher trainings one in discussing the need to collect data on how students and teachers perceive upper and school districts mr alden says at minute two in the video perception is reality reality is reality the age of reasons taught us to discern truth through reason critical theory negates this we discern truth through reason for example in science law mathematics and technology a lived experience has great value because each person is unique and has infinite value we've learned that sharing lived experiences that is perception by itself isn't sufficient for discovering the truth in the situation we use reason to discern truth two at minute fifty dr mccusker is explaining two graphics called quote intersecting axes of privilege domination and oppression because members of the oppression resistance end quote group may have been targeted for some

particular reason as if this is a serious problem this training seems to infer that your teachers may have implicit bias because they are mostly in a certain category and this may lead them to mistreat their students our laws have been created to ensure people in authority do not target people for special treatment based upon group identity whether by gender race or creed to classify your students or faculty by identity is simply wrong and will always be so instead the enlightened approach is to see everyone as the individual that they are with unique potential this is a goal worthy of resistance it's more uplifting and productive to focus on what holds us together and what divides us creating shame and others will not generate a stellar school climate three at minute 53 dr mccusker asked our

teachers to hold up the number of fingers that represent how much their experiences confirm what they have seen in her intercessing intersecting axes of privilege domination and oppression presentations this public display of agreement or disagreement possibly pressures your teachers because they are declaring themselves to their colleagues or bosses because this anti-racism training is sanctioned and compulsory to disagree with its premises may jeopardize their job or standing in the district perhaps you can make clear to your teachers and others that you're not advocating this ideology of categorizing people so you're not advocating that the district members be classified as quote privileged versus oppression resistance or as targeted versus non-targeted agents and finally four admitted for mr alvin declares that the golden district is to quote make each of each one of you responsible for carrying out

the actionable items developed through the school climate survey which will be ongoing because there is no end point to the climate services it is notable that at the end of this session a teacher asked in an anonymous quote not to quote had more to do with less all while the bar continues to rise thankfully it would be so freeing to just let go of the neverending surveys and the teacher training so the teachers can focus on imparting partial information to our kids and teaching them to tell the advice to tell ideology from reason tested information by standing against categorizing and problematic endless surveys they'll be standing with you you'll be standing with your teachers by asking them to do less so they can teach more thank you right next to start off i'm here once

again to discuss the implementation of crt training and indoctrination upper heavens you may well think that we have said all that needs to be said however there have been new developments that need to be exposed to the board and the public through a right to know request we now have the full video record of one of the compulsory indoctrination sessions for your teachers a holy captive audience there are several issues here that demand attention firstly the simple fact that it took a right-to-know request to access this information as a way to inform the board of what is going on in our schools is rather alarming obviously we do not expect you to follow or know every day-to-day event in the school however a significant and costly endeavor such as this type of indoctrination should not

be happening without a significant oversight of the information processes and methodology participants and outcomes it should not require our intervention in order to achieve a minimum standard of oversight secondly as to the specifics of the content there is an apparent denial from the board that this program is based upon crt to deny the obvious physiological for you to now deny it when you have in front of you written oral and visual evidence of crt content is simply wrong a large portion of the indoctrination session involved creating an aura of group identity among the teachers and the students it is lonesome to classify people by such arbitrary nuremberg law type standards indeed if your actual object is to eliminate racism either real or perceived then the immediate goal would instead be to create a climate where

each person is viewed as an individual with his or her individual potential to be valued and developed free from any kind of group prejudice in the indoctrination from the liu as promulgated by upper atoms at the 52-minute mark your agent ms mccusker presents her chart of oppressors and victims in clear violation of the u.s constitution article 6 she attempts a religious test for the teachers and students that is outrageous and opens the door to liability for the district then she asserts that veterans with military service other than vietnam are oppressors last week we commemorated veterans day where we as americans of all types as well as our allies honor those men and women who put themselves in harm's way for little or no recompense in order to protect us from those who would deny us

our freedom safety and constitutional rights the main purpose of patriotism is that we pledge to each other that we will attempt to defend each other in this way our adversaries will know what it means to be americans and deter from attacking us in the first place this week we commemorate remembrance day at the gettysburg national cemetery at that place abraham lincoln took time to ask us to dedicate ourselves to the causes of freedom and equality governments of the people and to recognize the sacrifices of those who hate in blood to atone for the shortcomings of our political system others from other wars and service have followed and been laid to rest there do you really believe that they are any kind of racist oppressors how dare you permit ms mccusker or anyone else to dishonor

their memory as part of your program there'll be no yelling we'll listen to what you have to say understood what kind of history lessons do you teach in our schools seriously we would like to know i want to be clear that i take no pleasure in saying the following they lawfully elected representative body in the united states would allow and furthermore sanctions such as foreign ideas is a willful dereliction of duty on your part to our teachers our students and the people of upper atoms shame shame on ms mccusker and her masters at the lau i expect that you will now act with the same alacrity you glidely showed to promulgate these smears by holding those responsible for these outrages to be accountable starting with a public apology from the board to the teachers and

veterans of upper atoms that there will be no repetition of such events for example in any such compulsory programs in the future okay next item on the agenda is uh correspondence and i don't have any correspondence so we move on to reports there is no uh esba report this month so mr rutowski frn okay i'll keep it real brief uh the instruct infrastructure bill was signed into law one trillion infrastructure bill on november 15th it falls short of the original 2.3 trillion proposal but there are some items that will have some downstream impact to education in raw mainly being an increase in internet access to rural communities and also additional funding for the removal of lead pipes um just a note here so this is part of a much larger spending package that has yet

to be passed and there's some continued conversations going on about that bill we'll likely hear more in the month of december so you may get to hear from me next month moving on uh i think i mentioned this last time but the code of accidents are children ages five through eleven uh just a tie on uh to that the department of education is encouraging schools to support the vaccination effort from the secretary of state so requesting support by having schools post codes vaccine clinics distributed vaccine information families and holding conversations finally i just wanted to point out in the report i have a link to a coven dashboard released by the department of education that link is for your review that's what i've got thank you thank you any questions or comments for mr towsky

okay you move on to the liu report dr dahl i'll also keep a brief this is attached in the agenda there was a moment of silence in remembrance of chrissy poole who was a part-time receptionist that passed away at iu they did that at the beginning of their their meeting the iu comprehensive plan overview was presented there were also a number of business items such as policies being adopted job descriptions being adopted those are all listed there are a number of personnel and business actions and the next meeting will be held on november the 30th 2021 at 7 pm and they have no meeting and most likely be no report in december that's my report okay anything for dr dole in the liu report okay we move on to federal programs mr alvin and dr

carwell who wants to go um under channel 3 um just a few items we are planning for our family get together for our title three families and it's going to be happening in the near future and we hope to have it at uh volleyball brothers and just wanted to thank mr halsall for his help coordinating um this another i wanted to publicly thank our translators we have a lot of parent-teacher conferences coming up and there is no way we would be able to make connections with all our families without them i just wanted to publicly thank them for their help with that thank you thank you any questions or comments for dr corwell okay mr alvin good evening just two items this evening on november 3rd the reading specialist 101 teachers and i put on

a 101 breakfast for our title 1 parent it was attended by about 30 parents i would say approximately we did a presentation uh we had lots of free books we gave out to families and for the first time uh we really had a great uh reception to our parent resource center which is a bunch of pamphlets um book make and take kisses different things and we had people check them out and actually sign them out and take them with them so that was for me that was personally uh gratifying because it's been a couple years we would covet and even before that we had just put that in place it was nice to see that being used so i think that was a a great event thanks to mr perceta and mr johnson uh for

helping us coordinate that down uh there second item on november 4th the following day i was at lincoln or not the lincoln conewago valley school district uh hosted a net for non-public consortium for title one for those that are new to the board we are required to provide funds to a non-public institution that our kids would attend for us at saint francis xavier school and we provide anywhere between three and five thousand dollars give or take each year uh to them and basically what that pays for is an liu employee to go and help their students with reading remediation so we're required to meet periodically uh typically we meet the fall in the spring uh with our non-public counterparts and make sure they're happy with our services or and and we're happy with theirs uh

we'll do an audit uh meeting with them in january as well thank you okay thank you any questions or comments from thralden okay thank you again on to administrator reports yes i i did skip you uh cumberland perry and then finally the fund advisory i'm sorry um there is no report [Laughter] the board will be reorganizing in december but i do have information about the campus fund so the giving free announcement that we saw after friday november 5th said that ash county community foundation earned was earned three million eleven thousand dollars i think it was possibly 2.2 million last year there were 2400 donors the non-profits will hear on december 10 how each of them may have so hopefully by january i'll be able to give a report on how much camera funds gain but

the cannon fund board is very appreciative of all the donations that have come to us from everyone who wants to support the camps thank you any questions for mrs kraus this was the what seventh year um i think you're right i've only been connecting i i don't have these statistics on the tip of my tongue but i think it's the seventh year and i think the first year they collected somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty thousand dollars three million this year and 2.2 million last year and i think those were also preliminary numbers weren't they the three million or is that fun that would have covered any donations that had been delivered to the office as well as online okay so it is close to the final figure i think that is what would count

towards eligibility for the stretch pool there are donors who donate just for the stretch pool and then each non-profit receives a percentage of that stretch pool based upon its percentage of the total so there could well be donations that were coming in after november five that won't be listed in that okay right now on to administrative reports unless i've missed something else here so comments for the on the administrator's reports from anyone okay well i have a couple comments uh mr kerstetter passed our congratulations on to the pto raising 24 000 that money according to his report goes to field trips assemblies and special events that's not an insignificant amount of money to be raised by a pto so congratulations to them um this is buckley i know a book report i'm sorry the book

club and so i wanted to acknowledge the teachers and i've if i missed their get their names wrong please forgive me stephanie sports jesus gomez shelly cump chelsea uh miller and judy pitzer who are donating their time in the afternoon to uh help these kids you know figure out how to enjoy the world of reading and apparently you also had a pretty successful book fair oh yeah yeah i wish her dad was always a very popular one a lot of dads come in and um [Laughter] oh good anyway congratulations to uh the efforts on your school's part with the book issues or uh i was particularly impressed to see that the entire eighth grade was taken to the ctc and also their exposure to uh was it the joy of manufacturing or the fun of

manufacturing uh yeah that was their uh open house right anyway um it's it shouldn't be any secret that i'm a big fan of the of the ctc and i really want to compliment you for figuring out how to get them all up there and and back to expose them to these kinds of things your goodness throw into that that the director of summerlin perry said it was the largest groups of open house that they had been able to provide schools and i don't see mrs graham here but i wanted to point out the two students in the high school sammy orner and gabrielle halabaugh who are the hugh o'brien youth leadership seminar winners and they're going off to a i think it's a two or three day outing is that your daughter by the way

i beg your pardon i was thinking gabriella he's the tall one in the picture okay and i also noted in mr alban's report teacher appreciation at shippenburg university our two teachers outstanding teachers mrs uh neely and mr brad showers and can you give us a few words to help us understand more about how they got selected and all yes and i'm dr dole you're welcome to try and do another okay well these are the two teachers we recognize on an annual basis for the understock award and we parallel that with the outstanding teacher award with shippensburg university so tomorrow actually i'll be taking uh mrs buckley myself mr showers he'll be going the ship expert to enjoy a nice lunch provided by their study council and then the teachers will be recognized for their service

to education well congratulations to those two individuals and mr graham's report i think we should acknowledge some of the we should acknowledge all the fall athletes for their participation but we especially want to acknowledge isabelle allen who is the y a i a a division co-player of the year and isaiah kukendall was nominated by the lions club as the athlete of the quarter then there was some team honors emmanuel esquiveras cameron tyson and charles savala who earned first team division iii all-conference honors and charles zavala also earned a player of the year in his division uh jack ragington juan garcia jesus salazar earned second team division three all conference honors and [Music] um kalani krum kaitlyn klein and hope chief chapman qualified for the district 3 class double a cross-country championships and they all ran

their best at the championship for the districts and uh finally not for the athletes so much but mr graham's report also talked about the field hockey bleacher project which was completed due to a donation by carol reaper through the wink family foundation and so our thanks to them for the their financial support of the district so yes ma'am can i say one more thing i just wanted to mention that at the up around intermediate school over the weekend we planted the trees about 36 trees and steve durham was really instrumental in helping us get that going through getting through three gatherings and we had about 36 to 40 community members help us plant teachers and committee members homeless plant those trees and uh i know mr zimmerman said it is that was a very huge

turnout for him um i was really appreciative of all the people and i just wanted to publicly say and i'll probably put that in my next board report those people who really helped us plant the trees some of them were teachers committee members some of the students came over and helped us plant we got it done in record time uh we started at nine o'clock and within approximately 50 minutes we had the 36 trees planted he then decided we needed to come with a lot of shovels you go and get um the mulch and so he really got the mulch by the time he got back it was pouring rain but there were approximately nine or ten of us who stuck it out through the pouring rain and still quit and still bulged all the

trees so i just want to publicly and thank those people who helped me do that thank you for bringing that up and thank you for the community members who have who have helped out on that project anything else from any board members on any of the administrative reports all right we go on to the superintendent's report dr dale i'm not going to go through four pages of information that's there but i do want to thank kenya this was last week i hope it's not too late but i do want to thank all the veterans we have a number of veterans in our school community and also uh within our district we have a number of people and even on our board who have served and i want to thank each one of you for everything

that that you have done for for us we have a number of men and women who have served in our military so we want to make sure that we continue to recognize all the efforts that they have provided to us i provided an overview of uh some of the updates with kovid and some of this is information that was shared with parents there have been some um you know decisions at the court level regarding mask and then there was a stay we did hear some new information that was released later today that possibly the state judge lifted the mass mandate and that will be lifted on december the 4th we're still waiting to get more information about that but as we get more information we will definitely communicate that with our school community i continue

to provide that listing of percentages of positivity rate we bumped up a little bit uh since last time it was uh provided we're now at 14.7 and then i'll continue to post or actually list in this report what our numbers are at the end of each week and these are the ones that mr robin has helped me to upload to the state and also on our district web page as well um last friday we were at 2028 and quarantine and 11 with uh positive covid cases uh throughout the district today i took a quick look we're at 25 and quarantine and 12 with covid in our our district right now on the the last page i'm not going to go through all the items that are listed there i one item i do want to

talk about in particular some of you may have heard about the equitable education funding lawsuit that is taking place in commonwealth court that started off last friday and it will continue to provide a little bit of information there pars is um heavily involved in that that's the pennsylvania association of rural and small schools they have about 50 witnesses that will eventually take the stand and talk about how some some of the smaller and rural schools throughout the state of pennsylvania have not been funded appropriately so they're trying to to make that that case in court the last thing is was really excited to have our students back together we held our first student forum since prior to covid last year we had one but it's not the same when you're doing it remotely we actually

had the students here we had about 21 students in attendance that's about three representatives for each grade level 7 through 12. and we had some really good discussions about you know the impacts of covid and in particular the the topic of mental health came up and that was a conversation that came up from students and it generated some really good conversations so we have put into place um this year dr corwell we were very forward in thinking and and we have added additional counselors one of each of our schools campuses one it's a secondary campus here at the middle and high school one at biglerville elementary and one at the intermediate school those individuals are are helping out tremendously with meeting with students that that may have some um you know mental health related challenges

right now with coming back and kind of you know trying to get back in the swing of things and or also just challenges that they may have um just in this time in their life so we will continue to monitor that and see if there is a need to increase any of those services over time but that was interesting to hear students just open up and talk a little bit about that with us the other topic we talked about which is always interesting when we're talking to students about food service and what's included on menus so we talked a little bit about the challenges that we're seeing and facing right now with shortages in certain products and why some of the the lines that may have been open in the past may not have as

many selections as they had before but we were able to get some really good information from the students and we'll continue to have that conversation the next time that we meet and all that will help to inform chart wells with building future menus so that was very helpful for us as well those are a couple highlights from my report thank you questions or comments for dr dahl okay quiet food tonight we move on to the treasury report mrs kraus um first items recommend approval of the financial report ending october 31 2021 and the condensed board summary report for october 2021 for the attack document okay there's a motion before the board to approve the financial report and the condensed board summary report both ending the end of october of this year and it's been seconded

discussion hearing none could i have a roll call please mr everett mr c boyd mr hall of fame this is jandik mr lady aye mr rotowski yeah mrs kraus yes thank you mission carries next item 12.2 recommend approval of the food service fund statement of operations ending october 31 2021 for the text welcome and and 12.3 the student activity fund ending october 31 2021 second there's a motion before the board to approve the food service fund statement of operations ending 31st of october as well as the student activity fund reporting also ending on the 31st of october and that motion has been seconded any discussion hearing none could we have a roll call please mr fee aye mr halaba is janzek yes mr lady all right mr rutowski yes mrs kraus yes mr everett yes

mr wilson hi thank you mission carrie all right uh before we i asked for a motion on the consent agenda does anyone have anything they want to pull out to discuss and vote on separately hearing none do i hear a motion to approve the consent agenda as written second there's a motion before the board two of two we're having lying second nine seconds here motion before the board to approve the consent agenda is written that has been seconded uh any discussion uh just a note of gratitude to um good catch very nice yes and that was pointed out at our committee meeting that it was spoken in air but it is the ucc church thank you anything else all right uh hearing nothing else could we have a roll call for that please for halloween

mr stanzik the lady all right mr rutowski mrs kraus yes mr everett yes mr c hi mr wilson hi thank you mr kerry uh we move on to committee reports and first is finance okay item 15.1.1 is to approve the 2021-22 idea section 619 pass-through funds agreement between upper adams school district and lincoln intermediate unit 12 for the project period of july 1 2021. excuse me i'm not i'm not following my own section i think i'm like oh sorry i've just dropped down a little further yeah tom was mad at you for calling them out before [Laughter] not mad about anything but i can't find where what she's got where she is my thing it's not truly item let's try this one um i lost it again recommend approval to replace the 2021-22 capital project

list biglerville elementary paving project with biglerville elementary roof repairs at a cost of 60 186.68 by weatherproofing technologies incorporated for the attached document second all right there's a motion before the board to to swap two capital projects as listed in your uh agenda a roofing project for a uh i mean a paving and a roofing project so any discussion did somebody uh explain this to the board a little bit why are we doing this um so we did not complete the paving project at doodleville elementary in uh like july august time for included um on it and in reevaluating the needs there are some leaks that are happening down at zipperville elementary that would require attention now versus doing stage so we're asking for replacement of that on the capitol list to move forward to

get those repairs made so it does not um create additional issues um for the winter months when will this work be done i think yeah like any time yeah i can text anthony tonight and it will be we'll get a schedule yeah and this is something um we have a schedule with our roofs um and and how to address them over time so it's not one big cost of replacement we've worked with uh tremco to come in and and give us a plan for repairing and and doing work in our district we have had a number of schools you know worked on the one that we still need to work on is at baylorville elementary with that being a metal roof we want to make sure that we don't let it go to a point

that the whole roof has to be replaced it is a metal roof there are some areas of rust that can be addressed through this initial process those could be visible to the naked eye of people that are out and seeing there could be like patches that don't match the roof color the next part of that would be matching everything up with an overall coating so right now the first part of this would be addressing the issues that exist on the roof right now and then similar to like i guess painting a barn roof we would paint everything so that it would match and it would coat things um but then second step that's not in this no so what i'm trying to say is some of it may appear looking funny that the roof has

different watches or colors but it will eventually all be unified at some point is it like a coaster yes yes hard to believe that building's coming up i'm 30 years old right and i believe i know it hasn't been you know touched in my time here but if this is the first that were we're doing anything to it we've definitely gotten our money's worth um but we want to make sure that we continue to maintain it the capital plant requires constant maintenance and and it would be foolish of the district to not spend this kind of money on these things because it just as you point out you don't take care of this you replace the roof at a much higher value much cost any further discussion i just found it interesting the description a

percy hershey kiss application yeah so then i guess we have to go over and paint the hershey kisses yeah i'm glad to see tremco's involved with this they've been very good with us over the years yeah and very honest my first trustworthy that was back in the 80s when we put the roof on biglerville elementary which is now the middle school and i think it's the same roof that's still there all right anything else we have a roll call please this is janzik yes mr lady aye mr ratowsky yeah is this krause yes mr everett yes mr c hi mr halawa aye mr wilson aye thank you motion carry moving on item 14.1.2 donations recommend approval to accept the following donations 50 for extra math for the upper adams intermediate school from the upper adams

day fees 250 dollars for the soul sisters program from the upper adam stacey and five thousand dollars to the upper adams intermediate schools sixth grade chesapeake bay field trip to be used to cover the expenses of the trip over the next three years by an anonymous donor right here a second second there's a motion before the board to accept the three donations listed in your agendas item 14.1.2 and it has been seconded to the discussion the note of gratitude a special note to the thought of the community support for the school district is uh we're very appreciative of everything that they do for us any further discussion right all in favor of the motion say aye aye opposed ocean carries and finally item 14.1.3 2022-23 york adams academy recommend approval to maintain the current number

of four seats for the 22-23 school year at york avenue second motion before the board to approve the current four seats at the york adams academy academy for the next school year it's been seconded any discussion uh i note that there's no contract here so could somebody at least give us a the elevator speech on the new york adams account academy what what we use that for he um that would be me mr grandma's not here um new york adams academy are some seats that we have for students who are very close to graduating but who may have um a full-time job that are just trying to pick up some credits so they um will go there and it's kind of like a fast-track credit recovery for them so that they can graduate get their

diploma and still work okay and uh four seats is what we had last year and that is currently school has made the decision that sufficiently i've had a conversation with mrs this is our dr corwell and both agree that for we are definitely using four seeds so we want to maintain that we're not asking it to decrease or increase okay to state status quo they're still there it's across keys village in that little strip mall [Music] works out well for us and they provide their own transportation right correct that's correct they the students students yeah further discussion that's something that the kids have to apply to get into or do we put them in it we make recommendations but they actually have to take a placement test to be a part of it and then

i think there's an interview too anything else all right all in favor the motion say aye opposed motion carries thank you uh we move on to personnel all right for the sake of brevity i'm going to reduce these into three separate motions so uh the first motion i'd like to make is a motion to uh approve the reassignment of jamie mikley from administrative assistant uh to a life skill teacher uh starting on november 30th and and also would like to include in this motion section 14.2.3 to post and advertise for the vacancies the administrative assistant in life skills through the job description second we're [Music] folks may need to get out more the highlight of my month there's a motion before the board to approve the reassignment of staff listed in your agenda item 14.2.2.1

as well as the post and advertise and the job description listed and as 14.2.3 in your agenda and it has been seconded any discussion i think it was obvious in ann's report the pride that she takes in these two employees coming on as classified employees and working their way up so my congratulations to them and for you and your leadership and encouraging them to do this they are both tremendous people so i'm very excited i will miss them in their current roles but they are going to be amazing as teachers as well perfect just to know here too that if i understand correctly but both both are appropriately credentialed all right could we have a roll call please mrs kraus yes mr everett yes mr c hi mr halibo hi is okay i would like

to recommend the approval of supplemental contracts for athletics and the educational contracts as noted in 14.2.4 of your agenda second there's a motion before the board to approve the various supplemental contracts listed in your agenda under item 14.2.4 and it has been seconded any discussion just a question tom should i abstain um i'm sorry i must have missed it yeah if you're one of them because your daughter's your wife i'm gonna need to have a flowchart of your family here [Laughter] yes you're gonna bring pictures and just hold them up you you should you should abstain yes bad night all around for all of us yes any further discussion paint pertinent discussion all right could we have a roll call please mr lady all right mr attacking yes mrs cross yes mr everett yes mr

steve hi is this standard yes mr wilson hi thank you mission carries okay um the final recommended for approval of the volunteer listing is as noted in section 4 14 22.5 and uh would also like to recommend the approval of the items noted under other contractor oil services as noted in section [Applause] from their respective listings from paramount chartwells and esl there's a motion before the board to approve the volunteer services under item 14.2.5 as well as other contracted services under 14.2.6 it has been seconded is there a problem yeah i just did i'm sorry did we catch um and maybe i missed it the um induction inductee did we catch that two okay sorry so and the motion has been seconded any discussion on those two items 14.2.5 and 14.2.6 hearing none all in

favor of the motion say aye aye opposed motion carries and now we move on to property bruce yes um we have a presentation from aramark this evening okay thank you very much yes is chris mcmahon facilities manager for our brandon school district airmark also on the line with me is patrick gallagher district manager for aramark we submitted that we submitted ahead of time a 47 page report electronically and some hard copies and i just want to take just a few minutes to go over some key areas and some highlights uh and mainly i want to start on page three this report covers basically beginning of the end of the summer beginning of the school year through october and we have key accomplishments as it relates to maintenance grounds custodial but also as it relates to

code concerns as we started the school year and we finished up the summer with top down cleaning disinfecting sanitizing preparing for the school year to open we continue to work with administration principals nursing faculty teachers to provide specific disinfecting sanitizing and cleaning of areas of concern and we can't thank the administration and dr don their leadership enough for being proactive in these areas uh we also continue to work with manufacturers and tea industries mccor next gen we meet with them to discuss how to maintain monitor and effectively use our hvac units to provide maximum amount of fresh air we also continue uh to change out filters as appropriate with nerve 13 versus merv 8 filters so it's been an interesting start of the year and also on the cover of our report you'll see a

picture of none other than mr anthony graham and yes he's actually working as you can see but it was under his leadership quite frankly his expertise in the area of concrete uh that we did the excavation framing pouring leveling trail work and finishing to provide new field hockey bleachers and the pictures are there they speak for themselves we followed anthony's lead on what to do and what not to do with the concrete and then we we put the leafers together and installed them and we hope that uh we we estimate that we were able to maximize the gift to the district uh and saved having to spend possibly another eight thousand dollars just by doing this project uh in-house so again kudos to anthony and to maintenance and grounds who jumped in there as you

go through the report you'll see you know before and after pictures of plumbing electrical issues we also provided with electrical and power to the outbuildings down to bigleville elementary we even put a gag outfit together for orangeville intermediate school i can't wait to see it in use uh you'll see also that we worked with the playgrounds to bring them up to code for uh the amount of mulch and whatnot that's required also this was a big you'll see pictures of old and new equipment you'll see details of formwork that were done at the end of the summer and you'll see some really old equipment and quite frankly that's equipment that we inherited from upper adams school district it works we maintain it we use it with the new equipment to get the best results possible

why are you seeing a picture when you look at it of a finished floor because if you ask osha they'll tell you a finished floor has greater slip resistance than the non-finished or non-maintained core so a lot of work goes into that and it's not just so it looks good it's for a safer cleaner uh well better well-maintained building we did a lot of training this year you'll see some a list of the certified training and it's not just a pass through it's an in-depth training session we also had a employee luncheon appreciation for maintenance grounds and custodial if you'll see uh we also participate in training that the that the school district goes through uh air mark employees annually complete training to comply with district uh recommendations and requirements and those the documentation of

that is kept on file by tina and human resource also we participated in the active shooter training which we appreciated uh that was quite the event and uh we were shocked at what we did know and shocked at what we did know on how to address these situations so hopefully uh as a maintenance grounds and custodial department we can help be part of a better safer campus for all concerned having gone through that training uh kudos to whoever set that up also typical in our reports you'll see corrective work orders how many were submitted how many were completed and we always have a few that aren't completed usually in recent months that's due to either budget concerns or waiting on parts or deferred until better time of the year perhaps seasonally and weather-wise also you'll

see a chart for our preventative work orders our pms and so far we've been able to achieve 100 percent if you'll notice the different numbers when you get a chance each month uh webtma that the system serve airwork uses quite frankly we've been able to detail the proper months for the proper pms and you'll see heavier months as it relates to the best time of year to do certain pm some pms are consistent every month others are quarterly and semi-annually and annually also you'll see the results of the september and october we did 427 inspections and we found 217 deficiencies the software program you said we had a 94.68 uh success rate and uh so we we we're never stopping to try to improve the program we're looking at where can we do better or

what should we do different also in the way of conclusion uh we had a special visit from beth graham at the end of our training and on employee appreciation and lunch and she came in and she personally thanked all the maintenance grounds custodial employees for what they do not only did she have words of encouragement and appreciation but she actually put it in the upper adams school district facebook which uh quite frankly meant a lot to the group and we appreciate the feedback and we are thankful for your business and if you have any thoughts or questions i'll be glad to answer them at this time thank you very much for your report chris anybody have comments for chris or patrick gallagher well i just uh want to add uh each year i actually look

forward to this report that mr gallagher and mr mcmahon are normally in the room to give the district has been well served by having a partnership with this organization aramark over the past six years i think it's 16 2015. so six years six and a half years down it was a it was a difficult decision for the district to come to although it it predates my coming on the board but the the discussions were still available when i did come on the board but in retrospect the what we've gotten from aramark uh has been a real quality um service and we're very thankful for that go ahead chris this is wesley i'd really like to thank all of your your staff again i know working through another year of covid you know we had conversations

about what does that look like uh do we change anything and i know we talked about like keeping things as they were the first year covet hit and i'm still seeing that level of commitment as far as you know desks chair handles door handles light switches everything being cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis so i just want to thank you i know it's extra work above and beyond what is typically in um you know the plans but i know you guys have readjusted to make sure that faculty staff and obviously our students are safe here as much as possible so thank you thank you dr dolan again um we schedule a lot of things because the principles are proactive we hit things before they become a real issue hopefully and so it's been a

real team effort and uh tom we certainly appreciate your comments and uh patrick and i are looking forward to being there in person the next uh the in the new year but he's uh he's traveling tonight and just got over some situations himself so here we are but we are excited to be part of upper outer school district and thank you for the opportunity we don't take it for granted and i just want to wayne this this is patrick hi everybody i apologize for not being here in person today but again i want to thank you for our partnership and quite honestly our program to to a great degree is is based on the people who are there and with chris's leadership and the team that's there um we've really made some good decisions with

will happen just to refresh everybody is the solicitor will start the meeting off the organizational meeting and he will ask for well i guess we'll swear in the new member first um and then and then we'll we'll have uh nominations for the the next board president and when that board president is selected he will take the that will be the end of the no he'll take the chair or she will take the chair and then we'll elect a vice president i think i think i have that about right close and close enough so actually one of the steps that i did miss was there will be an interim president elected which the solicitor will do deal with and that can be any of us except the new member because he will not have been sworn
