Everybody join me in a moment of silence and pledge allegiance. Thank you. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right. Roll call. I was on the wrong meeting, sorry. Black Miss Diamond, why are you not going to the declaration of conflict? Here. Declaration of conflict. You want to read that? Okay. Declarations of conflict per Tennessee Code 49-2-02, Board of Education members who have relatives, per the statute, relative means spouse, parent, parent-in-law, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, or any person who resides in the same household as you employed by the system are asked to raise your hands and identify yourself. Do you certify that the

votes you make tonight will be in the best interest of the school system regardless of the effect that your vote may have upon the employment of your relative or relatives. Yes. Let the record show Mr. Cole, Mr. Matthews, Mr. King, and Mr. Van Winkle raise their hand. That brings us to approval of the agenda. Here. Yes, sir. Wait a minute. I'd like to make a motion to approve the agenda with some exceptions. Those being two number eight to amend to recommend a scale, not approve. Then nine through 12 postpone those until another meeting. I'll second. Um I think that's what we need to do to get where we're going to need to get. Yeah. And I think we wanted to leave that policy. Mr. King, I don't know if you want to amend your motion

to 1.404 and also the the building and grounds. Yeah, I'll leave building and grounds in. Okay. So, number 11 1.404 and if you could amend that, that would probably make it. >> Yeah. I'll I'll amend to leave those in. Number 11. That takes nine, 10, and and 12 out. So, >> Then we recommend a scale on number eight instead of a approved one. Okay. Okay. Motion and second to amend the agenda to only only consider line item eight, 11, and 13. 1.4, yes. So, we'll probably need a roll call on that since it's got salary skills in it. Mr. Gold? Yes. Mr. Matthews? Yes. Mr. King? Yes. Ms. Nichols? Yes. Ms. Sol? Yes. Mr. Van Winkle? >> Yes. Yes, it's carried. All right, that brings us to uh number eight, pay scales. I'll entertain a

motion on what we want to recommend. Well, Mr. Chair, number seven. Oh, we didn't have that in the motion. So, we need to look at it. I would move that we approve the budget as drafted so far. I'll second. It's been a motion and a second to approve the drafted budget um to proceed with planning. Um That's as a draft, right? Right. Yeah, okay. Any discussion? No. Okay, that's a definitely a roll call. Mr. King? Yes. Mr. Matthews? Yes. Mr. Gold? Yes. Ms. Nichols? Yes. Ms. Sol? Yes. Mr. Van Winkle? Yes. Yes, it's carried. Okay, that brings us to number eight, pay scales. Mr. Chair, since we're recommending scales, these three two have been out for a while and seen uh one is a little higher than the other. There's very little difference. They're very

similar. I would like to move that we recommend option A for planning purposes. O- only option A? Is that your motion? Well, for calculations in the budget, I I think they're all fine to look at. Okay. May I comment? Yes, please. It's not that we're adopting one tonight. So, that's what we did on Thursday. I understood, and maybe I misunderstood, but that was at the time the highest. So, the budget that was presented to you tonight is with option A. >> Okay. That's That's my my endpoint there. We've already We've already approved that draft, so we're we're good on that. >> Okay. So, we're good. Yeah. Now, I guess we just need to consider what options need to go for discussion with the teachers. Yeah. Um we we can make a motion on what options

those need to be. I I guess I'll entertain that. I'd like I'd make a motion that we uh do the linear model. Um I'll second that. Go on to the teachers. I think it all needs to be discussed. Think it all does? Well, I mean the option that we've working from and the linear model. So, the budget that we have now? Okay. Plus, explain the linear model. See if that's agreeable. Okay. Any discussion, Mr. Matthews, on your on your motion with just the linear model? Well, with with just going with the linear model, I I think it that kind of I can say it's getting us where we need to need to be. It's kind of I think it project now hopefully for the next several years. Um but giving the teachers that that option,

of course, you know, anytime you have you dealing with their pay scales and stuff. They've got a right to be heard as just like everybody else. So, um but I think in seeing that that linear model up I think to me is what I've was watching um makes the most sense to get us there. So. Yeah, I feel like the linear model is the best option because, you know, last year when we started this fixing the pay scale thing that we all held so highly. You know, being able to cross the finish line on something that we would initiated and you know, two or three years ahead of schedule. I believe one time we were saying it's going to take five years. We've got the opportunity to cross that finish line now. I think anything

less than that would be counterproductive. Any other discussion? I Go ahead, Mr. King. >> I was just going to say I think this is an important step to get where we need to go. Yes. And we've tweaked and tuned and fixed things. This helps everybody. So. Yep. So, if there's no other comments, my only my only uh comment is we're taking only one option to the teachers. And there's nothing I mean is is is that is that something that's okay? >> we can do. Just to take one? I think as long as it's understood that this is what the board is recommending and that's not finalized. So, obviously, if the discussions we hope they go well, but if they were to not go well, the board has to understand that that would be coming back

for another vote and more discussion. They've already seen A and B. >> I was starting to say so we met with the group on February the 16th and February the 23rd. And at that time we know that they had those options because Dr. McCoy was able to plug those in and look at how those affect were affected by what insurance plans we were anticipating at the time. So, they've seen A and B. We we know that. So, if they have any questions about that, we can discuss it. All right. So, motion and second to approve option linear model to go to the teacher discussion. Any any other discussion on that matter? Okay. Uh all those in favor? Oh, I guess that's a financial too roll call. Mr. Nichols Yes. Mr. Matthews Yes. Mr. Cole Yes.

Mr. Soul Yes. Mr. King Yes. Mr. Van Winkle Yes. Mr. Abbott Okay, and that brings us to number 11, which is the policy 1.404 that we just went over in the work session. Mr. Chair, I move to approve. Second. Um, yeah, go ahead. I know what you're going to say. Well, go ahead. I was going to just ask for Mr. Cole's discussion is all I was going to do. He made the motion. I was I make the motion based on the conversation from the work session and aligning our policy with state law. Yeah. Yeah. Um, Mr. With the clerical changes on Mr. King, you made the second, did you? Yeah. Yeah, that's cleaning up the language there, what needs to be added and taken away. I think what we need is a motion to approve

it first and second reading. Yeah. Um, can you amend that? >> Yes, I'll amend my motion to approve this policy for first and second readings with the clerical changes discussed in the work session. With the S changes, the clerical changes. Motion and second to approve policy 1.404 for first and second reading. We can actually do all in favor, say I. I. All opposed, say nay. Thank you. Yeses get Okay, that brings us to number 13. Okay, so you know, in the past we've had committees and anything that we make a change needed to go before the building and grounds committee. Since we don't have those, it comes before you all. Here you go. So, this is for Pond View. This is for their pre pre-K playground. Uh the health inspector came and kind of said

what you have is no longer acceptable. So, their PTO has um voted to uh or has purchased or wanting to purchase this and have it installed. So, I need you all to make a motion to accept this change to the building and grounds at Pond View Elementary. I'm making a motion that we accept this building and grounds. I'll second that. Motion is second to uh approve item number 13, Pond View playground equipment. Any discussion? I had a question. Sure. Is the PTO the normal funding for playgrounds at every school? Uh that has been what we have seen recently, yes. Okay. Um roll call, please. Miss Cole. Yes. Miss Eggleston. Yes. Miss Saul. Yes. Mr. King. Yes. Mr. Matthews. Yes. Mr. Wayland. Yes. Okay. So, um do we need to make a date for for anything?

Well, um I don't know if Dr. McCoy can make the date for collaborative conferencing or if I need to reach out to Miss Timpson. Can you just email that out to them? >> happy to email that out to you all. Uh and then we just have our um regular scheduled uh work session in 2 weeks and um If we get something from the MOU, we can do a special called on the salary scale then after that. Okay. Um all right. >> After this after the work session. Not a not an extra meeting. Yeah. After the work session. One other item, any questions from the media? All right. Meeting adjourned. See y'all.
