I was just testing the mic. All ready? Welcome. Welcome. We know you're excited. It's going to be a great evening, but before we get started with the April meeting of the Franklin Special District, we're going to ask Dr. Farmer to come and give us the pledge of allegiance. Ask if you would stand, please. And when he finishes that, we'll ask if you would remain standing for a moment of silence. Good evening. If you'll join me with the for the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. You may be seated. All right. We've got a lot of great things on the agenda to start off with, so we're going

to kick them off with Mr. Kevin Townsel and our student artist of the month. Since there are a lot of people here tonight, as we go through these awards and through your categories, uh you're welcome to leave after you after your names and after we've gone through the different categories. So, we know a lot of you have other things to do, but we're glad you're here for now. So, Mr. Townsel. All right. The FSD student artist artist of the month is Jessica Torrado, age 12, Freedom Middle School. Are you here, Jessica? Come on. Uh This month's Franklin Special Special District Artist of the Month is Jessica, whose dream-inspired artwork invites viewers into a vibrant imaginative landscape. Her piece featuring lilies rising and swaying across a colorful valley captures a sense of movement and wonder through

flowing lines and layered textures. By combining permanent marker with watercolor, Jessica created depth and energy, blending soft blending soft washes of color with expressive sketch-like details. The warm sky and rolling hills draw the viewers at eye across the composition. Through her thoughtful use of the element of elements of art and principles of design, including line, shape, color, and unity, Jessica brings her vision to life in a piece that is both whimsical and visually captivating. You can view Jessica's artwork along with other pieces by Freedom Middle School artists at the Central Office Gallery. Our thanks goes to Chuck Suggs and Sonic Drive-In for their support of the Artist of the Month program. Let's give it up to Jessica. All right. Next, we have school board recognitions. Yeah. Tim. Oh. Yeah. And that will come after Tim.

It's uh Hello. There we go. Uh it's my uh privilege tonight to introduce and honor the men and women who make this room tonight the very safest school building in the entire country. It's our SROs, school resource officers. And uh Selby Glass, the FSD safety uh supervisor, if you would join us up front, please. So, we would like to recognize with our appreciation the dedicated service of the school resource officers who serve the Franklin Special School District. Deputy Cassandra Osborne of Moore Elementary School. Deputy Hunter Anglin of Liberty Elementary School. Deputy Josh Byrum of Poplar Grove Elementary. Deputy Michael Conner of Poplar Grove Middle. 005Deputy Charles Edwards of Freedom Middle School. And we'd also like to introduce their supervisors in the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and please come forward. Our high Sheriff, Jeff Hughes. We are deeply, deeply grateful for these school resource officers who serve our schools. These dedicated professionals play a vital role in keeping our campuses safe. And they build meaningful relationships that guide, protect, and inspire our students. In partnership with FSD safety supervisor Sylvie Glass and our principals, SROs help create a secure, supportive learning environment. We also appreciate the Williamson County Commissioners for funding these positions and the Williamson County Sheriff's Office for providing highly trained compassionate deputies. Thank you all very, very much. I will. Thank you again. You know

I'm saying here with you. I'm here with you. And all of you. Thank you. Thank you. Mitch, I said It's over. Thank you. Thank you. Please give them another round of applause. Thank you. All right. Now we have a proclamation for pupil transportation. Uh and it says Franklin Special District whereas safe, reliable, comfortable, and efficient pupil transportation and school bus service is an essential component of the Franklin Special District vision of excellence in teaching and learning for all. And whereas the dedicated members of the FSD transportation team provide daily service to approximately 1,900 students as well as service to hundreds more through field trips, special events, after-school programs, and athletics. And whereas data shows that public school transportation service is by far the safest means for children to get to school and home again and

that each school bus can relieve the traffic burden of the equivalent of 40 passenger cars. And whereas without public school buses many Franklin children would not have access to safe and reliable transportation to school and whereas the school bus drivers, bus aides, and support staff of the FSSD transportation department display a consistent commitment to safety, efficiency professionalism and the health and well-being of our students. Therefore it is resolved by the Franklin Special Board of Education that Tuesday April 28th, 2026 be recognized as Pupil Transportation Appreciation Day. Thank you. Next. I'm sorry. We'll get it. We'll get it. >> You're not using these. You're not using these. Okay. Okay. All right. Exactly. >> Yeah, go ahead, Kevin. Okay. We're going to go ahead and give school board recognition. We're almost there. All right, is Molly Foster here? Yeah, Molly, come on down. In December, Franklin Elementary third-grade teacher Molly Foster was selected as a 2026 Extraordinary Educator by Curriculum Associates, a national recognition honoring teachers who make an exceptional

impact in the classroom. Mrs. Foster was chosen for effective use of instructional data, innovative innovative teaching strategies, and commitment to helping every student succeed in math and reading. As a part of this honor, Mrs. Foster will collaborate with a nationwide network of educators and participate in the Extraordinary Educators National Summit National Leadership Summit in July. She's also a 2025-2026 FSD model classroom teacher and has led several professional development sessions this year for her colleagues. Let's give it up Molly Coston. Thank you for all those good news. Now, public input, is there anyone here for public input? Seeing no one here for public input, we declare that public input is now closed. Uh teaching and learning, Dr. Decker. Yes, sir. Thank you. Tonight, the teaching and learning spotlight shines on the Aspire 2029 strategic plan update

video. Which video you might ask? Well, it is our pleasure to share with you the premiere of this recently completed video that provides updates on the FSD's progress toward the goals of the Aspire 2029 strategic plan. Shaped by critical input from across our schools and community, it is a promise to our students, our families, and our community that we will achieve our vision together. Since launching Aspire 2029, we have taken meaningful steps toward that promise. And the results are already incredible. Our first commitment is bold, improve literacy, math proficiency, and student growth for every learner. Over the past year, our educators have updated essential standards and success criteria in reading and math, strengthened common formative assessments, and deepened instructional alignment across classrooms. These efforts are paying off. On the spring 2025 state assessment, Franklin Special

District saw growth in every subject area across all grade levels with several grades achieving double-digit proficiency gains in just 1 year. In recognition of this academic growth, FSD earned exemplary district status in 2025, placing us among only 14 districts statewide to receive this distinction. We've also strengthened professional learning communities in which teams of educators continuously analyze data and adjust instructional practices to ensure all students learn at high levels across the district. Multiple schools have earned model PLC at work recognition and we are on track toward district-level designation. Our educators continue to learn, collaborate, and innovate, always focused on what students need most. From K-2 fluency initiatives and district-wide writing expectations to expanded use of research-based tools like I-Ready, Aspire 2029 is guiding our work to build a strong economic foundation that supports long-term student success.

Academic success thrives when students feel safe, supported, and connected. Across Franklin Special District, schools are intentionally creating environments where belonging and well-being are prioritized. From thoughtful school transition experiences to expanded mental health partnerships, we are surrounding students and families with care. Today, every FSD school has a school counselor and access to on-site or partnered mental health professionals, and our district continues to expand services for students experiencing challenges both during and outside the school day. We are proud that all FSD schools have earned Unified Champion Schools designation, reflecting our commitment to inclusion and belonging for all students. Our students and staff are also supported by a certified therapy dog in every school. By listening to student voices, strengthening behavior expectations, and partnering with families and community organizations, we are building schools where students feel known, valued,

and supported. Aspire 2029 also calls us to tell our story clearly, consistently, and authentically. I feel pretty connected to our district. I see FSD out in the wild all the time. Finding information I need about my kids' school is really easy, and I can go to the website and find what I'm looking for. I get notifications on Parent Square, which is really helpful because I have kids in multiple schools in the district. And I feel like they are always communicating what's going on and how I can be part of it. From the story bus and story times at community festivals to Founders Day celebrations and our branding work commended with national recognition, our message is resonating. Franklin Special District offers high standards, exceptional programs, and a strong sense of community. Aspire 2029 is a living

plan, guided by purpose, powered by people, and measured by progress. We're proud of how far we've come and even more excited about where we're headed. Together, students, families, educators, and community partners, we will continue to aspire, achieve, and grow. Franklin Special District, Aspire 2029, progress in action. Thank you. >> Thank you.
