001All right, it's 6:30, so we'll go ahead and call the work session to order. Um, on our agenda here, we've got a moment of silence and pledge of allegiance. So, if you will please stand and we'll have a moment of silence. Thank you all for the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you all. >> That'll bring us to recognition. I'll turn that over to Julie. We got Pedmont Elementary School 4 students. You're fine right here. >> Who got this juice? Tell us all about >> these are our Pont Elementary School fourth grade students. They have participated in our 4 program throughout the year and each of them um actually won at the county

002level contest for their demonstration project and they were invited to move on to their regional project and some of them actually went on to the regional competition and actually won a blue ribbon for their uh demonstration contest as well. Okay, so I have Brooklyn Paige who she won first place at the county and the regional level for her project on um how to grow parents um and Brianna Taylor, >> you won first place >> at the county level. I should have made a list. Sorry. She won first place at the county level. Um I think >> you did participate at the region. Um Edmond Gillespie, he won at the county level for his demonstration and actually participated at the regional level where he earned a second place ribbon. Paisley Steinberg participated in both the county

003and the regional level as well and she won a blue ribbon in both areas there as well for how she write a check ledger and Noah Sheldon who won at the county level and was invited to the regional um for his demonstration project as well. Okay. and they along with other classmates were able to participate in both of those levels and didn't actually um all of them get to attend tonight but they have been a vital component in our 4 program this year and without them like 4 wouldn't have been able to come into our classroom and without their parents supporting them at home we wouldn't have had such a great program. So thank you parents for helping them with all their projects this year and thank you guys and congratulations SNEAK in here. >>

004There you go. >> You good? One. Okay. >> Good. >> All right. Thank you all. >> Thank you. We got 4 students. Is that correct? >> Here they come. >> So, I've got eight students from Dandridge who also participated in 4 demonstration and I was talking to them today and they were telling me some of the things I demonstrated. So, if you need to know how to make um salt dough, I'm not really sure what that is, but if you need to know how to make it, uh Henley can tell you. They can also make homemade yogurt. They can tie fishing knots. They can tie your shoes. Uh I'm going to take Harper to kindergarten and first grade the next time somebody tie their shoes and she's going to be my expert. I've got a

005recycling expert, a slime expert, and somebody I'm sure this is near and dear to 4. They know how to take soil samples. And then we have one student right here, Jaden, who participated in Cloverbo. Uh Jaden won in his uh in his category and we'll compete be competing again in May, May 18th. So, uh these are all first place winners with 4. Uh I know they enjoy 4. We do it with our fifth grade program. They look forward to it each time they visit and we're so happy to have them here with us today. All right, let's tighten up in here. Remember how they did it? Let's grab pictures. Mom's got it. >> Thank you. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. We got Jefferson Middle School train coming up. We've got a little

006recognition for a gold star recognition for Jeff Middle. >> What we got? Tell us what it's about. Um so this is for uh safe starters. So it is for uh athletics but also schoolwide for safety. Um so it's a lot of trainings for CPR, AED, um sudden cardiac arrest, uh concussion, making sure all of our coaches know u how to uh if there is a crisis, how to respond. uh making sure that across the board we know all of the um areas where we do have AEDs at and all the ways to respond. If it is a football field of of basketball, all of that u so we are required to do in-person trainings, online trainings, we have to submit all of our plans. It is a lot of stuff to submit. Um it's a

007lot of hours. We actually started this two years ago and it took us about two years to get the gold star status, but it is good for five years. Um and uh we're in the process of getting another AED that we can house at the football field. Um and we are uh we do all the trainings in person um with Melissa Whitaker. So she's been a huge help and so is Scott Bird with helping us get this. So it is a huge thing for our athletics and for our school as far as athletic safety. So thank you. WONDERFUL. WORKING. >> You know you're getting old whenever former students start showing up at work. All right, before we move on, one more recognition. Miss Paige Bale, Paige. So, Paige is our new community court communications coordinator.

008Uh, she's eight hours into the job. So, so she is new. So, we're happy to have her. Appreciate the board's initiative to start that process. I was at a county meeting the other day and and they were discussing something similar and and seeing a need. So, we're happy to have her on board. >> All right, we'll give everybody out. All right. So, that's going to bring us down to the public input portion. Want to remind everybody just reading from the policies here. Individuals speaking to the board shall address remarks to the chair and may direct questions to individual board members or staff members only upon approval of the chair. Each person speaking shall state their name, resident. Um, individuals desiring additional information about any item on June shall direct those inquiries to the office of

009the director. Each person shall have three minutes unless time is extended. Chair has the authority to terminate the remarks of any individual who is disruptive or does not adhere to board rules. Personal tax board members or school employees will not be allowed. Thank you for this public service announcement. So who do we got? >> First one is David Seal from Dandridge and he is speaking on House Bill 1834 Constitution booklets and bullying situations. >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. David Seal. I reside in the third school board district and I have some good news for you, especially those of you that stated you wish to start your meetings with prayer. One year ago, I wrote an education bill for the legislature called the Tennessee Religious Freedom Act, which authorizes school boards in Tennessee to

010open their meetings with a prayer. My good friend Senator Mark Py sponsored in the Senate and Rick Eldridge sponsored in the House. The bill was a bipartisan effort which was approved 32 to 0 by the state senate and 86 to zero by the house. Then it was signed into law a few days ago and released. I'm sending you a copy of the act and related documents. The effective date is July 1st of this year. The fifth US Circuit Court of Appeals just rendered a decision in Nathan B. Alamo School District relative to the Texas code section that requires all public schools to display the Ten Commandments in each classroom. In that decision, the court upheld SB10. That decision cited the cases that I have presented to you over the past two years on religious freedom

011in educational settings with court decisions on religious freedom cases like Espinosa, Greece, Kennedy, Carson, Marsh, and now Nathan v. Alamo. The Tennessee General Assembly enacting a law authorizing prayer in schoolboard meetings. This begs an obvious question. What reason could you possibly have not to start your meetings with a prayer? First Liberty Institute has offered to help you and your attorney with policy and I renew my offer to meet with any of you oneonone and explain these cases in the recent act by the general assembly. The Constitution booklets on your desk are the 250th anniversary edition of the 917 Society that will be distributed to eighth graders this year across the United States and you're receiving a preview copy. Finally, feel free to share my Tennessee Conservative News email address if you have any parent that

012is concerned about the bully issue in our schools. That address is david Tennesseeervantnews.com. And just for full disclosure, I'm interested in other stories as well, but that one seems to be a hot topic in the county right now. So, I would leave with that. And thank you for your time. Appreciate the update. Who do we have next? >> Michelle Janette of Bandage. also speaking about America. >> I'm Michelle Janette. I live off Well Springs Road. I attended the festivities last weekend in Bandridge that celebrated the 2501st anniversary of the Battle of Lexon and Concord and it kicked off celebrations for the 250th birthday of our nation. I'm so blessed to call Dandridge home and to live in America. And we are all very privileged to be living in such an amazing time in our short

013American history that we get to celebrate this huge milestone in our nation of 250 years of independence. I talked with a parent last week and asked if their school was in any way celebrating America's 250th birthday. They had not heard anything about it and said they would ask their school. My purpose in addressing the board tonight is to ask this question. Are the schools teaching the students about the significance of this year? Are they or will they be celebrating this amazing birthday in any way? I remember being an elementary school during our bsentennial. Yes, I am that old. Our school had celebrations for a whole week with songs, decorations, and a musical and parties. And I still remember it to this day. John Adams wrote in a letter to his wife Abigail concerning these celebrations

014and he said, "Independence Day will be the most memorable epaca in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival and it has been. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and eliminations or fireworks from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more. And I'm really excited to say that we've done that. Um, you will think me, he says, you will think me transported with enthusiasm, but I am not. I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure that it will cost us to maintain this declaration and support

015and defend these states. Yet through all the gloom, I can see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is worth what's the end? Our liberty more than worth all the means. The the end is more than worth all the means and that posterity will triumph in that day's transaction. John Adams we should celebrate our independence like this every year and I'm glad our town and our president has doing even more for this year for 250th birthday. So if we are doing stuff like that in the schools, thank you very very much. If not, please consider doing something like that before school lets out for summer to encourage students to celebrate this exceptional republic that we are blessed to call home. God bless and I've got Mr. Jeff Fure asked

016to be to speak to >> Thank you folks. My name is Jeff Fanter. I'm from Newport. Don't hold that against me right now. uh just here uh to talk to this board very quickly. Uh before I get started, I want to look you up and say thank you for coming to my brother's funeral. Somebody walked through the door that really humbled me and made me feel good. So I appreciate it. Uh I some of it won't pertain to you guys, but I'm running for the district 11 Tennessee House Representative seat uh in the August election. And uh but I just wanted to Another story very quickly. I got to eat uh with Doug last week. I want to go on the record that I had to pay. The numbers guy, the numbers guy I thought

017would would finally his budget to buy me something to eat, but we had a good meeting over at Perkins and I appreciate that time. Um, very quickly, I want to take a couple minutes of time. I'm going to go over to the Jefferson County baseball game. I think it started at 6:00, but I want to get on out of here and but I I wanted to come talk to y'all very quickly to tell you about who I am. Uh some of y'all may have heard me before, saw me before, but was in a different different type of uniform. I just finished my 40th year as a Tennessee Secondary School's Athletic Association high school tenure and also football. I just finished my 33rd year as a NCAA basketball referee. So, some of y'all probably fussed and

018cussed and threw stuff at me over the years. And my wife as well, my wife, Alexis. Uh, I know this guy back in the corner hollered at my wife many times. My wife's a football referee as well. So, but I just want to tell you very quickly, my my career is pretty vast and diverse. Right now, I'm a school teacher. I'm my 11th year back teaching at Cosby. I'm a driver's ed teacher, thus the hair turning gray and turning loose. But u I have I'm retired banker worked 20 years in Boon North Carolina at a bank uh in management. U I mentioned my uh my my career in athletics. I was also the high school basketball coach at C County for five years. So I've been there and done that and got the t-shirt. The

019only thing I wanted to tell you very quickly is that I'm not a politician and I don't want to be and but I do know how to fight. I've been in a media fight before verbally with from coaches to fans to students to whoever. But I I'm said that to say this and I'll sit down after this. I am not a fan of this voucher program at all that's been forced down our throat, especially on the public side. And if elected, I only thing I can tell you is I'll go down fighting for the public school teachers. It's uh it's bad and it's got worse and I have a feeling it's going to get worse worseer. That's the proper English. I'm not an English teacher. But I I want to look y'all guys and I

020and say our public schools are necessarily the words endangered, but they're being threatened in a in a in a in a severe way. I I will tell you over in County that we are going to have to be looking at $1.8 million to offset this new uh uh situation where the governor wants to start all uh starting teachers at $50,000. Teachers that have been in a system three or four or five years are making less than $50,000 and they're going to have to bump them up to get to where they need to be. our finance ladies on the other day. We're looking at trying to find $1.8 million. Know that Mox County is losing 57 teachers next year and it's all relevant to the u to the voucher program and uh that's something that's going

021to have to be correct. I want it to be a winwin for Jefferson County, Cox County, and Hamilton schools. I want to be a win for Lakeway if you want to go on the private side as well. But um um I just u just want to humbly ask you u for my for your vote if you're in this district 11. If not, if you could tell some people about me, I sure would appreciate it. And Mr. Arnold, thank you for your time. >> Thank you. All right. Appreciate this. That election will be around the corner, you know. >> Yes, sir. >> Up on us with the counties. All right. Let's see. That brings us down to the board approved agreement renewals. You got anything on that? >> I just have that in there. Um, now

022I have to find um in that um both of them are the same. We updated the date that just shows um July 1, 2026 to June 30th, 2027. And then there was a clause added at the end. Those are contract responsibilities that just said that contract will not provide gender affirming care support to students within Jefferson County school buildings. um that confidentiality is highlighted. I I don't think that should be highlighted. I probably just got crazy going down through there uh with the highlighter and got that confidentiality area too. But those are the only changes there. >> Mr. Are these are are these changes that are highlighted? Are those the ones are those the ones that we would be changing this year or are those already in there that we changed last year? So that

023what you see here presented to you is what would be proposed at the next meeting to vote on. >> That was my question. >> Yes, sir. >> Thank you. >> Yes, sir. I know last year I had a lot of uh concerns about background checks. I noticed that the Tennessee code 49-513 is in there. I don't know if that means that they have had the same the TBI criminal background check is what we have our employees. Is that what that is? So they would have the same background check as our employees plus they have to do some additional things for the medical aspect of things but we would have the same requirements that we would as hiring someone in. >> So is there any way that we can as a school district make sure that

024we receive proof that they've had it like as in the past. Obviously, if they fail, they're not going to probably come in saying, "I'm sorry, I failed it." But for each therapist, you imagine there's one therapist at each school. Is there any way that um what this is what I'd like to see? So each of the employees, just like we have in the private duty nursing that was in the policy that we've been looking at, each nurse has to have their information, phone number, address, stuff like that on file at the school. I'd like to make sure that we have that on file at the school. Is that currently happen? So, um, what type of what would you want to file their? >> So, so when when they I was which whichever company says, you

025know, here's here's these therapists, they're going to go into each school. How do we know that those therapists have passed their background check or have their license? what license they have >> or any kind of personal information. >> Yeah. >> If there was to be some kind of an incident, we know who that was. >> So, we do have the through the two companies that they are assigned to a school, work school, no different than they would be now no different than a private duty nurse. Um, private duty nurse takes a background check that we stipulate the regulations on and the company ensures that they pass that background check and they submit them to us for uh employment in our schools not by us but to work toward that child. Same way with the mental

026health agencies. They we tell them which background checks that we require. They ensure that they take them and then um they vouch that they are employable and then we place them in the schools. It's the same way with our student teachers also. Carson Newman, Tennessee, um, Tuscalum, they all take the required background check that we require and then they vouch for them and we place them in the school. So now it is all an equal playing field for whether it's a private duty nurse, a mental health liaison, or a student teacher. They all have to pass that background check that is given that the any employee within the school system has to pass. >> Okay. Do we do we keep their information on file at the individual school they're working at? No, we do not

027have anybody's information that's not our employee, whether that's the mower or construction worker on job sites. So, we do not keep all people who have to pass a background check. We do not house their employees. Those companies vouch for those employees. Um, so they have their own number. They receive their own background checks. So lots of companies we run in with contractors, just like Jefferson Elementary, just like Talet job that's going on now. All those employees have to pass background checks and that company signs off. You know, you're talking about a multi-million dollar company that's doing tons of schools. You know, they don't want to take a chance on one of their employees having something on their background, us catching it, and then disclosing that in public as it would be. That's a anybody would

028want for a a business. So, they're very cautious about who they send in. um whether it's an electric company, a HVAC company or mental health or private duty nurse or anything of that nature. >> And and I'm fine with that with the background check side of things when I was working on the private duty nursing. One of the things that was in there to strike out that Mr. Bennett strongly suggested keeping in there was keeping a file just if there's an incident we know who this person is in there, where they live, their phone number, just that kind of information. Not background, >> but just that kind of information on file. Once they leave, files taken away, whoever else comes in, it kind of replaces. >> Yeah. >> Can we do something like that? >>

029So, I know that every principal in here knows, you know, if I call Sandy Rainey and I say, "Hey, I've got an I need to talk to your mental health provider. Give me her number. I mean, it's there. So, they know who I don't know who they are. I I mean, you know, I don't know who's the receptionist that I don't know who the night shift custodian is at the high school, you know, but I mean, there's 1,200 employees. I don't know. I don't know half of them probably. But um but those principles know everybody. They know their spouse. They know their kids. They know their grandkids. They know their grandkids birthdays. I mean, you know, it's a they're the ones I rely on to give me that. I don't have that information, but they

030do. They know who it is. and and whether it's I mean some of them have been there six months, some of them's been there six years. So um right now I have to remind them they're not a part of your staff. They're not your employee. I mean they take ownership of the person that cuts the grass and the person that you know a lot of things. So, just like Barry and Terry at the high school that works on HDAC, you know, they they know more about the place than I do now. They're in there a lot, but but it becomes a tightnit group. There's a lot of when everything work there for a period of time >> but each agency only the agency uh signs the not each individual therapist. Correct. >> Right. So and

031by that's a it's no different than um yeah that agency is putting their name on the line. thatou is between us and um the agency. We don't it's not a like a subcontracted. So, we wouldn't have anything with the I'm sure the agency goes over ground rules if there was ever an issue with, you know, somebody came in and and did something that was against school rules. Just like we deal with Sheriff Coffee, um if there was ever an issue with SRO, um you know that that is between Jefferson County Schools and Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. Jeff Coffee signs it. sign it and none of the officers sign it, but you know, they know what they're supposed to do with that key, what they can only do with it, and those types of of responsibilities

032within the building itself. >> Is there a difference why the nursing is signed by all the nurses individually, but the mental health is only done by the company itself. >> I don't I I would have to look at that. I mean, if if I I would not I'd have to go and evaluate that. Do you happen to have a copy of that that's signed by me? >> By the nurses? >> Yeah. >> No, but I know that I know our our nurses currently have always had to individually as well as >> Oh, yes. And that that may be a agency type thing. I wouldn't care if everybody I mean I'm only looking for one signature. You know, if Jeff Coffee had every deputy sign it but himself, then I wouldn't approve it and allow them

033in until he signed it as the um sheriff. So, I only need one. It's the same thing as as Jesse who's freezing back here. Jesse signs. So whenever we have a contract, she I sign it and the agency signs it. And that means that contract is active. By by rule, I'm supposed to have Jesse review it and sign it. Um but even If that doesn't happen, all that's that's on me, not on her. And you know, courts have shown that's still an active contract even though I didn't do what I was supposed to do. Um, so if a company has their employee sign it, also maybe they're just bringing them aware of the policy or procedure. Um, I'm sure agencies go overus with employees. Um, just as you know, I'm sure there's certain things that

034Talbot may feel student teachers working in their building that Randy may not at the high school. So, it's all kind of individualized a little bit. >> I don't want to interrupt you. >> Go ahead. is is there I'm I'm just trying I'm just thinking uh let's say um Helen Ross McNab has a Thank you. Uh Helen Ross McNab has a counselor uh who's talking to a student a parent for some reason has an issue with what they say or what they do or how they act or whatever. um and says, "I want to know what your background is that you're telling, you know, daughter or son what you're telling me. Can we call Helen Ross now, for example, and say, you know, in other is their background information accessible to us if we want want

035it >> like uh like their credentials type?" >> Yes, their credentials. That's a good way to put it. Oh, I mean I would imagine that those they'd be happy to share just like just like Lameo there's happy to share her background credentials. >> So I mean you know all of us are proud of our certifications degrees and what we've done. And so I would imagine they'd be happy to share that background, you know, things that they belong to and and resume type stuff of >> I I was just wondering if a parent would like to know who's talking to their to their daughter or son if that would be available if we request it. >> Sure. And I'm sure that you know they could work with Helen Ross McNab or anything. You know, my son

036has behavioral issues and they may need somebody more geared towards behavioral and somebody else may have psychological issues and they may need more somebody there. Just as we go to a doctor and you know we may choose just a general doctor and then somebody else may choose an internalist specialist. >> Yeah. And then then we get on down to a certain specialist that that we would maybe want to go to down the road. So I'm sure that you know just as as you go to a practice um you may not work out with one therapist in the building and you know you may recommend to see someone else in an office setting or something of that nature. Um, is there anyone I've read this whole thing, but it's been a little while that says anything

037about background check provided upon request. >> We don't share background checks. Um, so you can if you request a background check of one of our employees, we're not going to give that to you. So, so I would advise them not to um give a background check um to give a background check as a records request. We do not and we're a public entity. So, agencies being a private entity, I I'm sure they would not deliver a background check upon request to someone >> based on what Doug was saying. You know, like you said, uh, if a parent wanted to know more about the individual that is going to be working with their son or their daughter in that case, >> I'm sure a background check would not be something that would be disclosed. So, we

038have to sign off on law. I mean, I have a bunch of supervisors that work in the office, uh, whenever we do a background check, a lot of times there's only two people. That's a very secure document. Myself and Carol, sometimes Carol's the only one that sees it. Um, and then sometimes a committee gets involved and then sometimes I get involved, but that goes nowhere outside of the office. Um, and only a certain group of people. By law, we're to protect that information. >> So that's by law. >> By law, we're to protect that information. In order to get that number, you have to >> o in order to get that, you have to um to sign off that that you're going to adhere. I don't know if you all know Carol Baker or not,

039but whenever she signs off to agree to something, that's it. That's the way it happens. So, I mean, whenever I come in and want to do something a little bit >> Yeah. that sheet brings me back in line. So um so you it it is followed to the letter very confidential very professional anyone else. All right. So that will be on up for vote at the business session. Oh special committee reports. We've got upcoming dates for joint school board county commission committee meeting May 21st at 6:30 here >> courthouse >> here at the courthouse which is a change. Um and then building maintenance committees they they're out there for a while September 15th at 5:30 time. And if I could mention uh it's not a special committee meeting, it's a special call meeting for the

040policy committee to speak about the uh bullying discipline and cyber bullying of May 13th at 5:30. Um just to discuss and uh craft or modify or add or retract from the that one policy and there is no time limit on that. It will start at 5 and go to whenever the uh whenever we feel we got what we need to get done. So that is May 13, 5:30 here at the courthouse. >> I just want to speak real quick on the uh maintenance committee that we had. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> That's okay. Um, hey, I just uh want to kind of let everybody know uh the current projects we have. We have currently 16 projects either started, finishing up or getting ready to start. Um, and range from anywhere from like the Telot Elementary,

041Jeff Elementary additions and renovations to the hag barn. I'm just running out the rest of these. Jeff Middle HC replacement restroom canopy installation which is just about done. The can up a little bit concrete work. I don't think they quite finished that yet with decaps. Um Mar gym bleachers Jeff High School gymnasium bleachers elementary HBAC replacement for paint filling station for buses. The high school sidewalk replacement, another high school welding pad, which I think they're going to just extend that out football field lights that are should happen, I think, this summer. High school, it's a period weather station installation. Try to understand a little bit. That would have to be something if you guys want to know, Dr. Art could fill us in on that. Mari middle school football lights the high school gym floor

042where we had a pipe break underneath it after years but it probably broke needs to be replaced middle school facade that's going to need some work and I'm sure there's going to be more coming up too >> Austin said no >> that's on top of a lot of stuff The school, you know, we just got done with the roofing. Was it a fiveyear roofing plan every school renovation school has been pretty hard to work at getting a lot of stuff at schools. >> Thank you for that going on. Also, policy committee met 5:30. Um, we will add those to the business session um before we send it out this week. Tomorrow, maybe third sometime around there. And then there is one policy. Doug, you want to speak about the dress code puzzle? >> Yeah, we

043have a we modified the dress code. I'm glad somebody's doing what I should be telling everybody to do. Um, we modified the dress code policy, uh, updated it. Um, Dr. Arnold has requested that, uh, we pass it on first and final reading. So, I will move during the business session when we get to that policy to suspend the rules and do that. The rest of the rest will proceed as normal, but that expection of rules on that. All right. That'll all be in business meeting next Thursday. So, just so I know Paul Sorry, sir. >> No, you're good. You're good. >> I know Paul talked about So, we did pour that welding pad today. We poured concrete sidewalk at the high school today. And then, um, we did pour rush strong. Did they get all

044that poured? it. They were finishing up. I left >> so it should be ready. >> So that has been poured to check that out on your way home. Let me know your name. >> The garage what I mean hold up here or what? >> Which one? >> The county garage. So we just wrote a check. I don't know. I can find out. I'll find out. >> It doesn't matter. But I just know we come there and start grading and >> Yeah, let me think on that. >> Do you want an update? >> No. >> Okay. >> No, I do. >> It's up to you. >> The landfill did some work. >> The landfill, the county did their part, but we have an architecture involved and the drawings for the metal building that's been ordered keep

045going back and forth between the architect and the metal building supply company. Today, I believe >> what the county did, what's work that's been done up there. Correct. The county did that part. Um the building has been >> a big sign out rocky top construction or something. >> I don't visit sites normally, but my understanding is the building has been ordered. It's just the drawings have been going back and forth with the architect. >> So, I'm sure that'll be kind of like the building at the high school, the egg barn. Uh there'll be some measurements uh specs and then once it gets done and ordered that'll go up quick. >> Yes. >> We'll probably have more definitive progress statement on that at our joint meeting at our upcoming joint meeting. >> There you go. >>

04621st. >> Yes. All right. Well, just I do want to add one other thing, too. Um, Mr. Bridgewater started out of white pine and they did I guess they had several guys on the maintenance go around and do their own eyes on the facility and make up their own maintenance needs list stuff. um you know, not your typical picture needs something here type stuff, but real assessment needs and they've executed pretty hard already. Of course, everything's going to be student pending and weather pending on some of that stuff, but they're going to address Wi-Fi, try to get it all done, and then they're going to move on to the next school, which she's keeping under lock and key on what's going on. But um and they're going to work at school by school and treats

047like that. >> Been noticing that, Dr. Johnson. I've been checking some stuff, huh? I don't remember how many. I mean, there was a >> Oh, there was >> 7,500 items on that punch list probably. >> Yeah, there was uh 50 55 items, but he he probably had probably 30 30% of it done as of a week. >> Good. >> Anything else? All right. input on business items there. >> So I spoke about theou right now that's about um the extent of items that's going to be on the agenda. Mr. Rivson spoke about the need to get that dress code approved so that principles can get it in handbooks get it student information so that they're aware of don't buy those onesies and pajama pants and All right, school commissioner Adams for discussion. Anybody got anything

048else? >> I just responded to Miss Janette's uh question about uh any celebrations planned or anything any activities plans for our 250th uh >> Yeah. So, so we really helped um the town of Dandridge. Um so, you know, I we're always promoting things. I know we send stuff out about u Constitution Day and and themes of you know, whenever about the space shuttle sending out information, it's not the name of it, the ship that went to space. >> Yeah. So uh so we always send that out just as u you know it was very important to me that and and to Randy uh that our band participate in the parade u our ROC was there u you know uh we had kids volunteering to set up so uh it's like we had we donated our

049bus uh to run because the town of Danders is very small right here. So people parked at the church in at Dan's Baptist Church. We provided bus service to get them back and forth to the event. Um so we are very involved and um we are sending out information because right now we're in tecap season. So there's certain things we have little segments of time that we can instruct our kids. So yes, yeah, we we we have and we will continue to post that stuff online and and promote those things to our our teachers to u to get that information to our students. And you know, we only have a few weeks of school left now, but then you know, we also uh, God willing, start back in August and we'll continue with that, too.

050But we definitely want to get that information to them. We're also here in summer school. Uh, so we have 20 days of summer school that that we'll have 700 students or so and we'll be, you know, promoting stuff into. >> Thank you. Uh, have we gotten anything back about the bullying program or any kind of goodness trend in looking at bullying programs? We I mean you >> I've spoken with the state department and they're they they've sent me some things too and so now it's kind of just going through and looking at what we can do what what would be feasible also you know looking at positive school climate type things that we have done in the past and incorporating everything. So I do have some starting points and programs and things to look at.

051Will you be presenting it to the board on different programs? >> If the board wants to choose it, >> some of them come with money. >> Got to pay for it. >> That's okay. Um, can I offer one to look up or look into or possibly I'm kind of looking at it myself. I'm going to get how it's spelled wrong. Oasis >> O L W E US. >> Yeah, we've done we have been training that in the past and that is something that's highly recommended. Um and that is one of the ones that that cost a little bit on the front end for training. So yes, that that is a good program. >> It from what I looked at it looked like it kind of carried the whole spectrum from teachers and you know anybody

052assistants and anybody with school including the students and I think it would just be a good thing to make sure that we do that. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> You got some stuff down here under items for information. Has anybody got any questions or anything that updates going on real good? >> Yeah, definitely pushing um Jefferson Elementary School. Um we had a walk through today for a pre-bid meeting on as best it's abatement. Um five companies attended that walk through. um three kind of large um companies. Well, really four four companies southeast region to to you know four or five states. So that was really good uh to be able to get that turnout. We were real impressed. We expected two and got five. So that was good. you know, I don't really

053have any u blanking ships kind of working on those construction documents. That's that's a lot of tedious work. U so we don't really have any updates besid from design development which we've talked about. Um you know some things in the road entrance had to change um just minor tweaks we've had to make along the way to Now, the construction document phase of, you know, exactly what that roof looks like, exactly what every, you know, so that they can bid it out and somebody knows what they're constructing, buying, and can bid it out. So, that's kind of where that is right now. It's really a sit and wait for that to get finished and presented. Like I said, I go by talking at least two or three times a week. He come along real good. I

054drove by our restaurant, looked at the own looking real good. Whole lot of good stuff going on getting finished. >> We also I know everybody got a chance to see those doors at the high school. That was a big, you know, kind of a billboard. um new look, fresh look, advertisement, whatever you want to call it, if it looks good there. Um I was just looking at the skilled services report from Tal and it says important notes. Uh we need a revised ramp design, we need updated for finish schedules design and need approved gym flooring submit. Do they need that from us or do they need that from blanket ship? Blankenship ultimately does the design work. We approved. So on the gym floor initially what came in got denied. So in the specs u blank

055ship had the flooring in the in the specs and then what the subcontractor presented to Austin for approval was didn't match up with what's in the specs. So Austin denied it and same thing happened to the HVAC. U there was a piece of equipment in the specs. We don't say it has to be a blank unit with a brand name. We give a set of specs and it came in with a lesser u spec than than what was in there. It was a very low-end piece of equipment. We denied it. Went back and forth. The engineer denied it and then finally they got a piece of equipment that was approved by all. So that ramp design is an architectural. The gym floor is a that's a spec issue of the contractor has to the subcontractor

056has to meet the architect spec and that's what that is. But everybody's working on it. Thank you. >> I have a question. We have the TCA is going to be reviewing our policy and when does that start? >> July 1. Um so we talked a little bit about so we put the money in the budget cover it and then they're aware of it. They sent us a contract. Um, and also TSBA is very busy in this legislation type situation. So, July one >> and and they're going to be doing that section by section. >> Yeah. I I didn't know when I just figured we I knew we had enough policy happen and going through and I was trying to figure out when they were going to start once we have everything finalized. Then um when

057is the final day to turn anything with special call meeting for the bowling? May 1. Anything else? All right. Then we'll be adjourned then till May 7th at 6:30 right here.
