Um there's no words I can say just an amazing young lady this this this girl is. I promise you one day you're gonna see she's going to change the world. I don't know where it's going to be or how she's going to do it, but I know she will because just everything she's put she's touched so far this year has just turned to gold. And I'm just very proud to say she's one of ours and she will always be one of ours. I want to thank Miss Marissa Briggs for all she's done for this school board. 025next item on the agenda is public comments. I didn't receive anything. All right. I'll entertain a motion to close. >> All right. Motion by Mr. Childress. >> Second by Miss Clifton. All in favor? >> Any opposed? >> All right. That motion carries. Item number nine is recommended approval of fiscal year 2026 2027 annual budget. >> Motion by Miss Gray. Second by Dr. Compton. Mr. Curry. >> Um good evening board. As you guys received the presentation um at the work session, we did receive a little additional dollars from TISA um like $75,000 more, but it's not enough for me to want to amend the budget at this time. So I will amend that in July to add to something budget because we'll get another um estimate in May and June. So that So, I'll just bring
it all to you to you guys in July. Again, just to highlight what we talked about at the work session. Um, for the most part, our revenue from the county and local has stayed flat. We did receive roughly additional $900,000 in TISA. And again, that's due to the base weight increasing from current year next year, but we have have the first year of our payment um for the loan of the middle school. So that's going to eat up basically that $900,000. Um we did provide step increases um for next year, step increases only, no Christmas bonus. Um we did raise the minimum um for the subs substitutes at $15 per hour. So those are the I would say highlights I want to mention in the general fund. So, I'm asking tonight that you guys approve
um the general fund in the amount of 34,520,556 and the federal fund 1,729,93 and uh nutrition 2,396,55 and capital $900,000. So, an overall budget I mean overall budget of 39,546,964. Um, if you guys approve this, it's scheduled to be also um voted on at the May 11th meeting with approved and then I'll submit it to the state. >> Thank you, Mr. Curry. Any questions for Mr. Curry? >> Did you uh we talk about we were told that you were going to represent uh us budget with the city. Has that taken place? >> Yes, that was at their work session last week. >> Last week. >> Yes, sir. So, it's kind of is a high level um presentation for them and answer any questions they had. >> Everything was smooth. >> All right. Any other questions
for Mr. All right. Roll call, please. >> Barbara Halbertton, I >> Amanda Compton. >> Hi. >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi. >> Debbie Clifton. >> Hi. >> Barbara Gray. >> I >> Cody Childress. >> Hi. >> All right. Thank you. That motion carries. Item number 10 is recommended approval of FY26 budget amendment 7 general, federal, and capital funds. Entertain a motion. >> So move >> motion by Mr. Childress second and second is that Miss Lifton. Okay, thank you. Second by Miss Lifton. All right, Mr. Curry. >> Okay, these are three small amendments for the current year. The first one is for the general fund in the amount of $13,822. This is just a reimbursement from our insurance company. Um, regardless of expenses we had during the ice storm, we had some damages. The second is a
small increase to the CTE permanence grant in federal just $100 so we can sh up our books and sky to what's in E plan. And then lastly is an increase of $8.8 million in capital fund and that's again tied to the middle school project and that will be needed to get us um from the current date through June 30th. >> All right. Any questions for Mr. Okay. Thank you, Mr. Roll call, please. >> Amanda Compton. >> Hi, >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi, >> Debbie Clifton. >> Hi, >> Barbara Gray. >> I >> Cody Childress. >> Hi, >> Barbara Halber. >> I All right. Item number 11 is recommended approval of MMSD teachers eligible for tenure status. Thank you, Mr. Second. >> All right. Second by Dr. Compton, Miss >> U. Before we move to a
vote, I think last year we just I listed all the names and we did one vote and then we had them come up for their certificate. Does that work for you? Um, before we move to a vote, I do want to briefly outline what it takes for an educator to qualify for tenure in the state of Tennessee. Tenure is not automatic. It is earned. A teacher must complete a probationary period of at least five years and demonstrate consistent effectiveness through the state's evaluation system by receiving a level four or five of effective level of effectiveness in the last two years of that probationary period. Excuse me. This process ensures that tenure is granted only to educators who have shown a sustained commitment to student growth and professional excellence. With that in mind, we will now
proceed to consider the recommendation. Those up for tenure will be Aaron Arnold, Neil Boen, Chester Ford, Tariq Martin, Michael Neilenhousen, Lauren Turner, Gina Utley, and Mark Winkler. Any questions? Sorry. Any questions for Miss Faith before the vote? >> All right. Roll call, please. >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi. >> Debbie Clifton. >> Hi. >> Barbara Gray. >> I. >> Cody Childress. >> Hi. >> Barbara Hallebertton. I >> Amanda Compton. >> Hi. >> All right. That motion carries and I'll turn it back to you to speak. So congratulations to all those named and received your tenure. I saw your name down and receive your certificate. Aaron Armor look forward to this. They work hard for it. Very welld deserved. Neil Bogen. Chester Ford, >> Tariq Martin. This individual said I could pronounce his last name either way
and I did Milanhousen earlier. So we will do Michael Milanhousen this time. So he gets both pronunciations. Lauren Turner, Gina Utley, and Mark Winkler. Congratulations again. All right. Thank you and thank you to all of you wonderful teachers. We appreciate everything that you do for the district and for the kids especially. Um item number 12 on the agenda is recommended approval to contract with ANR Construction LLC to complete painting projects at Millington Primary School and Millington Central Middle High School for a cost of $35,442. funding has been identified in the FY26 capital budget. Motion by Miss Gray and second by Mr. Childress. Mr. L. >> Good evening, board. Uh this is going to be the summer break. We're going to try to uh we are going to paint the primary hallways and the NX building
at the high school. I meant to ask if you were in the work session if you were going to keep the hallway colors. Um I mean I know they're I remember when they were painted before but the colors in each hallway >> primary colors. >> Yeah. >> I'm sure it will they will do a better job than what was done before. >> We'll keep the colors. >> Yeah. If you'll even it up. Yeah. Okay. >> Good. Thank you. If I remember correctly from the work session, there was some locker removal I think that was supposed to be happening. Is that part of this or is this separated? I can't recall. >> It's separated. >> Okay. >> We're moving the lockers out of the annex building, >> right? >> And putting a new floor in the
annex building, but that's not part of this project. This is for the paint labor. >> Okay. Got it. Just be sure. Thank you. Any other questions for Mr. Leblanc? All right. Great. Thank you. Roll call, please. Teresa Cook, >> hi. >> Debbie Clifton, >> I. >> Barbara Beret, >> I. >> Cody Childress, >> I. >> Barbara Hallebert, >> I. >> Amanda Compton, >> I. >> All right, that motion carries. Item number 13 is recommended approval of modification of board of education policy in one reading 6.319 alternative education. >> So moved. >> Motion by Dr. Compton. Second by Miss Gray. Thank you. All right, Mr. Griffin. >> Turn over to our director of student service, Mr. Adams. >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Adams. >> Yeah. Our current alternative skill policy reads 7 through 12. Um,
we're changing K through 12 just to better align with state laws across the state so we can better serve our younger students in case need be that we need alternative education for those students. So, we're just looking from 712 to K12 just to be able to serve those students better. >> Thank you. Any questions for Mr. Adams? >> All right. Roll call, please. >> Debbie Clifton. >> I. >> Barbara. >> Hi. >> Cody Childress. >> I. >> Barbara Hallebertton. >> I. >> Amanda Compton. >> I. >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi. >> All right. That motion carries and that brings us down to the last item on the agenda. Before we get there, I do want to um just ask for uh continued prayers for the family of the young man that we lost from the
Millington family uh true tragedy. Um and want to say thank you to the folks who were so supportive. Typton County Schools, sending counselors and other folks who were supportive throughout that whole tragedy. So just continued uh prayers for that family uh and for all of our students for covering for them to be safe as we get to the end. We're not quite there yet, but we're almost there. So just want to keep that in mind. Um any other thoughts before we adjourn. All right, I'll entertain a motion to adjurnn. >> Motion by Mr. Childris and second by Dr. Compton. All in favor? >> I opposed. >> Good night everybody. Thank you for
