Thank you, Madam Chair. Uh, first and foremost, thanks Marissa being kind of lonely up here without her. I'm glad she's feeling better. Glad she's back with us. Uh, before we get started, just want to first and foremost thank everybody, uh, for being here tonight. Uh, want to welcome our new hire at the, uh, primary school, uh, FA assistant, uh, Miss Kittby Smith was hired on 3926. So, welcome to the family. Uh before we get started with other awards, Mr. Thomas Sers is here to uh hand out some Milton Star awards and I'll turn it over to him. Thank you for the
004time and I appreciate the hard work that you all do. And this past January, the Milton Star, we did our annual readers choice awards, which is voted on by our readers and our social media presence, primarily Facebook. So dozens and dozens of votes came in and from our cover here at Typton County all the way down to North Haven. It was almost a clean sweep for Milton, but almost. But we had three teachers that won awards and two schools. So we like to take time to recognize them. And now here's the tricky part. as the guy that's known behind the camera. We need somebody to volunteer to come take a picture >> of me presenting the award. So any volunteer >> Mr. Okay. So the first award we want to recognize is for best high
005school central Lunson Earl Learning Academy. Best elementary teacher, Casey Gro. Our best middle school teacher, Michelle Noak, and our best high school teacher, Coach Chris M. very special. Thank you, Mr. Thomas Sers. If you don't know, Will Uh, I think Thomas has been in more ball games than uh myself, Mr. Neil, and Mr. Adams combined. So, we appreciate all the thankless job. I appreciate you for all you do. Thanks so much. Now, to the awards and recognition, starting with Camila, Mr. Jeff as Thomas is on his way to a ball game. Good evening. March kept us very busy at MA. We started by springing forward and jump right into reading across America. We had dress up days, guest readers come in and even a family reading challenge. The kids had a blast. We also had
006our spring program at Journey Church. We buzzed into the spring and have to say that the kids did their thing. They were very confident, excited, and did an amazing job. We were super proud of them. We tried something new this month with our first parent and snack and learn where Miss Memory, our BCBA, talked with the families about big feelings and emotions. It was a great way to connect with our parents and next this month we will have get ready for kindergarten. We are have some exciting news to share. Mila received preschool development grant. It was $20,000 to support our early summer learning program. This would give the students even more opportunity to grow and explore over the summer. We also celebrated our custodian and build building engineer with our parents, teachers, and staff. We
007showed them love throughout that day. We had Kodak Bright Smiles virtual visit where the kids learned about brushing their teeth and had a toothbrush and toothpaste kit was given to them. Now, for what's important, we're going to celebrate our staff and student of the month. We're going to start with our staff of the month, which is Miss Tiffany Truss. Our students of the month come from Miss McGomery's class. We're going to start with Rain Francis. Our next student of the month is Cababria Masbar. We are so proud of them and the way they show up each and every day with a positive attitude and they work hard. Thank you again for this opportunity. >> If you ever get bored and really want to see excitement at it best, I'll take you out the meal and
008get to see them at lunch time. It's a lot of fun. Up next from the primary school, Miss Lot. Guys, there's a lot going on at all our schools. So, there are a lot of events. Uh, so I know it's a little thin tonight, but just for example, there's 10 events going on at the high school just this week alone. So, not to mention all the other schools. Please check the websites for that. There's a lot going on. So, I won't miss out. Good evening. >> I hope you had a wonderful Easter. We had a very busy March at MPS. We celebrated National Social Workers and Support Staff Week by showering our social worker, Miss Harden, as well as our CIS specialist with treats and lots of extra love. We also celebrated Mr. Jimmy for
009National Plant Manager Day. We have one of the best plant managers around in Mr. Jimmy. We sure hope he felt lots of love and appreciation. We participated in fun activities and dress up for ReadAcross America. It was wonderful to see the children so excited about reading. We smile really big for the camera for our spring portraits and our kindergarten cap and gown pictures were made. I can't believe that our kindergarters are almost ready for first grade. Time really flies. report cards went live in Skyward on March the 25th. Our teachers attended another day of professional learning to improve their craft and fit through death. Our case 21 scores increased significantly. We went from 44% proficient to 65% proficient in ELA. In math, we went from 41 44% excuse me, proficient to 61% proficient. We've been
010working very hard. We hope to see the same thing in our scores for together. Registration is now open for the 26th 27th school year. Please be sure and register online. April is just as busy as March was with lots of celebrations. We celebrated National Autism Awareness Day by wearing blue on Thursday, April the 2nd. We celebrated our many pair of professionals including our sped assistants, our library assistants, as well as AS they are true rock stars. Don't know what we would do without them. We also celebrated our very own Miss Carico, our national school for national school librarian day. We have the best in Mrs. Carico. Our yearbook committee has been working hard to capture all the memories. Our yearbooks are still on sale for $30. Please get them while we still have them. Data
011meetings will continue this week. Our instructional facilitator is analyzing the progress monitoring data of our students and making changes to instructional paths. We are celebrating the amazing assistant principles this week at MPS. Our third grade teachers are working hard to prepare our students for TECAP testing which will begin April 20th. April uh students will be tested from the 20th through the 29th. And that's our third graders. We know they have worked hard and they're going to show us how much they know. We're holding our third grade annual third grade parent meeting tomorrow at 10:30 in Milton Primary School's library to provide updates and testing information to our third grade families. We hope you can attend. This Thursday, we will be hosting a pop into kindergarten day where rising kindergarten families can come and get some
012great information on kindergarten readiness as well as meet our kindergarten team. April 22nd, we will celebrate our hardworking administrative assistance for administrative professional day and our military children will be recognized and celebrated as well for military children's honors day. We will celebrate our brave and courageous bus drivers Tuesday, April the 28th for National Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Driving a school bus is no easy feat. Our interims for Q4 will go live on April 29th. Also on Thursday, April 29th, we will have a general sessions PTO meeting to nominate and vote on our members, our board members for the 26 27th school year. We will have a first grade program after that. So, please come and join us. Now for the real reason why we are here to celebrate our students of the month and our
013employee of the month. Our character word of the month was fairness. This new teacher to MPS has exhibited this character trait for each and every one of her students. Congratulations to Miss April Dulan. She's no longer a And now for our tiny Trojans, Krispy. So Doesn't she look beautiful? >> Noah Caven Who's your next governor of Tennessee? Yeah. >> Tiana Daniel Hernandez. So I am Nolan Kennedy. Winter Rose Winter Connor Hardy. Let's give these boys a school. >> Hey, good evening board. As we look forward to April, we begin the month of the military child. We're very fortunate to have many students from military families and several even have a parent that's currently serving on active duty. These students often spend long periods of time separated from a parent or they have to move and
014change schools multiple times and many will continue to do that uh before they graduate. Their resilience, their flexibility and strength are remarkable. As we celebrate this month, we want to especially be mindful of the sacrifices that these students and their families make and take time to recognize and appreciate the unique experiences that they bring to our school community. This past Thursday, we also celebrated World Autism Awareness Day by wearing blue to show support for our students with autism and celebrate their unique strengths and talents and perspectives. This current week is National Assistant Principal Week. I truly can't speak highly enough of our assistant principles at MIS. Miss Klein and Miss Wilkerson are just simply tremendous and they're a huge part of the success that our school has had this year. And personally speaking, they help
015me immensely by providing immediate help to students and staff and parents as well as bring incredible insight to the decisions that need to be made administratively. Well, we only have 10 more days before we begin our TCAP testing at MIS. Our students have worked diligently to grow academically and this was seen in our latest case benchmark results. I challenged all our students to meet at least one TCAP projection on that assessment. And I'm pleased to say that out of 570 students, we had 483 meet at least one TECAP projection. But we also had 332 of them, well over half that met at least two of those TECAP projections. So we've been celebrating with lots of special treats. And this is also a test a testament to our incredible teachers that have worked extremely hard to
016grow our students this year. We are ready to show what we know as TCAP testing begins on April 21st for us at MIS and will continue daily through May 1st. Finally, I'd like to recognize our March students and employee of the month. Students, please make your way down to the front when your name is called to accept your certificate from Mr. Griffin. and parents, you're welcome to come down as well to take a quick pick. So, in fourth grade, well, let me start with our employee of the month. Employee of the month is our fifth grade ELA teacher, Miss Amber Mott. She's a sec a secondyear teacher with us and uh her case scores were really really great this last benchmark testing period. And now for our fourth grade students in team 4A, Remington Arms.
017From team 4B is Oscar Salazar. Team 4 C is Walter Smeagielski. And now in fifth grade from team 5A is Genesis Zapetta Martinez from 5B. Kylie Kelty from sixth grade. Team 6A is Miles Wilkerson. And finally, the PE student of the month is Mac. Harris. Thank you. Middle high school. Y'all need to leave. High school parents day. >> Good evening. We had a busy month of March on the Millington Central campus. Even with spring break, we tried to see how much we could pack into three weeks, and I think we did a pretty good job. In March, we announced the class of 2026
018Trojan Hall of Fame. Uh, this award dates back to the 1940s at Millington Central. The Hall of Fame recognizes the top 5% of students in the graduating class that have made significant contributions in the areas of leadership, community service, academics, attendance, and discipline. Um, the students are nominated and voted on by teachers and staff at Millington Central. And this year's Hall of Fame inductees are Marissa Briggs, Tama Duckworth, Taon Dy, Sydney Garl, Franklin Hatcher, Cheyenne Miller, Riley Washburn, Emma Washington, and Alexis Williamson. On March the 5th, we held a successful blood drive on campus. Our juniors and seniors who participated learned the importance of giving blood and the importance of eating breakfast before you give blood. So on March the 6th, several welding students competed in the annual Delta Tech welding competition. The group hosted a successful hygiene product drive on campus. The donated items were given to local free clinics around Shelby County. Several HOSA students also qualified and competed in the 2026 HOSA state competition in Chattanooga. Our very own Charlotte Nelson finished second place in health career photography and in doing so she qualifies for the national hosta competition this summer in Indianapolis. Great job. The Trojan National Honor Society members held the second annual Makea-Wish 5K run at Orville Park in March. It was a chilly Saturday, but we had a great turnout and it was a great day for uh running andor walking. That's how I was doing. Our NJTC rifle
022team competed in the state rifle competition at Montgomery Bale Academy in March. The Trojan rifle team finished fourth overall out of 26 teams. Cecil Garrett finished 14th overall and Dylan Fitzgerald finished 16th overall out of 105 total shooters for the day. Great job, Trojan Rifle. The Trojan theater department had a busy March preparing for the spring school play performances. Uh will be the Lightning Thief the musical right here in the pack. They will have four performances. The first one is this Thursday, uh April the 9th, this Friday, April the 10th, next Wednesday the 15th, and next Thursday the 16th. The doors will open at 6:30, and the performances will begin at 7. 023their spring performances. They will be held right here in the pack on Friday, April the 24th at 6:30 p.m. and the doors will open at 6:00 p.m. We closed out the month uh by celebrating the career of Miss Beth Hail. Miss Hail retired after 35 years in education, 33 at Williamson Central. We held a celebration in her honor and recognized her contributions to countless students and teachers in the Millington community. And we hope she enjoys her summer break that never ends. And now I would like to recognize some more outstanding individuals for Millington Central. March's theme for nominating students, teachers, and staff of the month was supportive. These individuals make Millington Central a better place. When I call your name, please step forward to receive your certificate. Middle school student of the month, Hope Teeshi.

And last but not least, our ISS instructor, Mr. Jordan Browning. He's the one with that. Like I said, we got a more welcome statement. Understand it's dinner time for most everybody. So, um like to thank the following uh group of people that have uh volunteered to be on our 5year strategic plan committee. Uh the

Uh we had a survey that went out for two weeks. We got those results in. We're getting that t tall tally up as we as we speak tonight, but had over se almost 750 uh entries into that which is a good number. Just want to remind that the joint education committee which was supposed to meet last Thursday but due to illness will meet this Thursday at 5:30 in central office and once
027again as the principles has already said uh TCAP is less than 10 days away and it's testing season but graduation is right around the corner for seniors and they already know it of course but it's May 7th but please check all your websites uh at your schools and a lot of events going on like I said as you can tell but want to thank everybody for And that's final report, Madam Chair. >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Griffin. Does anybody have any questions for Mr. Griffin? >> All right. Very good. Um, at this time, we'll move on to item number eight, which is public comments. Did not receive any, so I'll entertain a motion to close. >> Motion by Mr. Childress. >> Second. Second by Miss Gray. All in favor? >> I. Any opposed? All
028right, that item passes. Item number nine is recommended approval of FY26 budget amendment six general and federal fund. >> Motion by Mr. Densen. >> Second. >> Who was that? Oh. >> All right. I couldn't tell who it was. Second by Miss Clifton. >> All right. Mr. Curry. >> Hi. >> Good evening board. These are the same amendments that we discussed at the work class work session. Um there are two to the general fund. One is an amount of $42,242 and that was from a Teima U payment from some years, excuse me, some years back and then an increase of $46,262 extra we received from our impact aid grant. And then in our federal fund, we received a small increase to a Perkins grant in the amount of $2,241. Any questions for Mr. Curry? Thank you,
029Mr. Curry. Copies. >> I >> Amanda Compton. >> Hi, >> Chris Stencson. >> Hi, >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi, >> Debbie Clifton. >> I Barbara, >> I Cody Childress, >> I. >> All right, that motion passes. And then the next item is number 10, recommended approval of adoption of budget calendar. >> So move. >> All right. Motion by Mr. Densson and second by Mr. Chilris. Mr. >> All right. Um hope you guys all have a copy of it. Um so we'll be meeting with the um finance committee next Thursday, April 16th to go over the balance budget for 2627. Um then for want to present it at the work session on April 23rd, there is a date we need to add after this April 23rd date. After I spoke with Mr. Penley at the city
030of Melington, they're doing a work session on April 28th and even though you guys would would not have approved the budget yet, they still want a copy of the proposal and he asked me to attend. I don't have to present or anything but he did ask me to attend in case there's any questions. Again, it will be just considered a proposed budget at that time because the board adopted it. So, if you just make a note that they will be discussing, they'll be going over their city budget and our budget on April 28th at their work session. And then May 4th on the our our board meeting um is when I will bring the budget to you guys for approval. It will go to the approval to the city of Billington May 11th and then
031I will submit to the state in June and get it approved uh by the state in June 2026. >> Mr. K, I have a question. Did the board of mayor and alderman indicate to you whether that'll be a usual lunch meeting work session or whether it will be in the evening? >> They did not. Um when I talked to Mr. Penley, he said he would email me an invite. Again, there was nothing for me to pre present at the time. He just wanted a copy of our proposed budget and just asked me attend in case there were any questions that came up. >> Okay. >> But once I find that out, I'll share with the board. >> Thank you. >> All right. questions. All right. Can I get a motion to just to amend um
032the Well, I guess we don't really need a motion because the budget calendar the details are in here, but I want to add that that April 28th date. So, I think we probably do need to have it added. So, if I could get a motion to amend the budget calendar to include date. >> Thank you. >> I'll second. >> All right. Motion by Mr. Childress and second by Dr. Compton. to amend the budget calendar to include the April 28th city work session. >> I'll send you guys a copy of that. >> Okay, great. All right, if we could get um roll call to approve that amended motion, please. And then we will vote secondarily to approve the amended motion. >> Amanda Compton, >> I >> Chris Densson. >> Hi. >> Teresa Cook, >> hi. >>
033Debbie Clifton, >> I bar. >> Cody Childress. >> Hi. helper. >> I Okay, so we have now approved the amended motion and now we could um I'm sorry, the amendment to the motion. And now if we could get a roll call to approve the amended motion. >> Chris Stson, >> I >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi. >> Debbie Clifton. >> I Barbara Far. >> I Cody Childress. >> I Amanda Fton. >> I >> Great. Thank you for that. That motion is approved. Item number 11 is recommended approval of hearing officers from the TSBA list of Tennessee Council of School Board attorneys. >> All right. I have a motion by Miss Gray, second by Dr. Compton. Anyone want to speak to this? Mr. Griffin or Miss Bates? >> We'll make move a little bit. Um, this is
034just really we have several policies that may may need a disciplinary hearing officer and they cannot come from anyone in our district. They can't have any relation. Um, they have to be completely objective. And so our attorney um, Miss Deborah did say that a lot of districts utilize the TSBA approved. That way you have a full list at your discretion um, should that time time come. That way we're not waiting and we I think the last time you voted was 2016. So, I think it's just a good practice to try to update that yearly and make sure there's >> and those attorneys that um had a conflict with um the with the board, they would be >> we just wouldn't select those when the time came. >> They don't need to be removed. We just
035>> they don't have to be removed. You would just not call them when that time came. Yeah. >> Any other questions? Any other questions? All right, thank you. Roll call, please. >> Chris Densson, >> hi. >> Teresa Cook, >> hi. >> Debbie Clipton. >> Hi. >> Barbara Greg. >> Hi. >> Cody Childress. >> Hi, >> Barbara Halbert. >> I Amanda Compton. >> I. >> All right, that motion carries. Item number 12 is recommended approval of the five-year strategic plan committee members. >> So moved. >> All right. by Dr. Compton, second second by Miss Gray. All right, Mr. Griffin has already names on the committee list and we do have a copy of it here as well with the addition of um Cole Street and the student. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. >> Had to get
036approval from uh his mom first approved today. So, >> does anyone have any questions for Mr. Griffin? >> All right. No questions, but I will Thank you in advance to everybody that's doing this because it's a huge time commitment. So, thank you. >> All right, roll call, please. Teresa Cook, >> I >> Debbie Clipton, >> I >> Cody Childress, >> I Halbert, >> I. >> Amanda Compton, >> hi. >> Chris Stson, >> I >> All right, that motion carries. Item number 13 is recommended approval to contract with Kenny Floor Covering LLC to install new flooring in the Millington Primary School Library in the Millington Central Middle High School annex hallway under sourceful contract number 061323 for a cost of 61,972. Funding has been identified in the FY26 general fund and capital budgets. So move >>
037motion by Mr. Childress >> Second by Dr. Compton. Thank you, Mr. Lock. >> Good evening, everybody. Uh this is going to be the floor that we're going to put into the primary library is 17,76. Uh some of that money is coming from the primary school itself and their funds and we're going to put that in this summer. The other part is going to be the uh annex building floor. We'll demo it with another floor in manage building corridors. >> And that one's not carpeted, correct? That floor is carpeted or not? >> Which one? >> In the annex. >> No, it's just tile. >> It's just tile. That's what I thought. >> We're going back with LBT. >> Okay. >> So, we don't have to wax it. >> Okay. >> Good plan. >> But it's 44,266.
038All this is going to be done up on our consortium contract source well uh bikini floors. >> And you mentioned that the um primary will be in the summer the annex hallway. Is that also in the summer? >> Yes, ma'am. Yeah, we plan on taking the lockers out, paint the walls and floor coat base. >> Is there asbestous in that tile or is that that's I thought that was new enough. It wasn't. >> That's a lot easier to remove. Any other questions for Mr. All right. Roll call, please. Debbie Clifton, >> I. >> Barbara Gray, >> I. >> Cody Childress. >> Hi. >> Barbara Hellbert. >> I. >> Amanda Compton. >> Hi. >> Chris Densson. >> I >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi. >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Leon. Um, that motion carries. Item number
03914 is recommended approval to purchase 2 Acer Chromebook 311 C723T with full 4year AP warranty, licensing and cases from Vivosity under TIPS contract number 230105 for a cost of 101,6580. Funding has been identified in the FY26 general fund. Mr. Mike Caster. >> Yeah. >> Oh, sorry. We have a We got to have a motion. That was I'm getting so moved. All right, Mr. Densson moved first. Who was the second? Is that Miss Gray? Thank you, Miss Gray. I must be in a hurry to get out here. Sorry, Mr. Lancaster. It is cold up here. >> This is our uh fourth year uh with purchase from byast. This is our off year. So, we're not purchasing 880 devices. We're purchasing 220 devices. We're going to go with a clam shell design this year instead of a
040complete flip, but we're going to put eight gigs of RAM instead of four to make the devices a little bit snappier. Um, so this will be for the sophomore class and this will follow them all the way to senior class and expel with them. >> Same thing we do every year. >> Correct. >> I do have a question since we're going with the clam shell because they're they're used to the that that folds um into a tablet. So, is there going to be any information provided to the students to let them to make sure that they're aware that it's a clamshell so that they don't I mean some of them might get broken anyway, but are we doing anything to kind of say, "Hey, heads up." >> That's a really good idea. And now there
041will be a >> because otherwise I think they just automatically try to hold it. >> I really hope not. >> I hope not too, but do all we can to try to prevent it. Any questions for Mr. Lancaster? Other questions? >> Mr. Lancaster, maybe you could put a sticker on the power button that says this is a before they even turn it on and they have no choice but to know, >> right? This this laptop does not fold. >> The power button is when you have to open it to it. So, >> so I know you'll be creative, but whatever you can do. >> We're going to try to get there. >> Yeah. Okay, great. Any other questions? All right, roll call, please. Barbara, >> hi. >> Cody Childris, >> hi. >> Barbara Hellbert, >>

This is standard size for all classrooms we have here. It's 86 in touchscreen uh interactive display. Uh this one though uh with this brand has a sevenyear total warranty instead of a five that we currently have on all of our displays. So hopefully that helps us extend that time period that
043they're active. It's got all the same features, front-facing speakers, uh pretty good sound system on the device, and we're going to get 35 of them to uh put into inventory. I'm curious, I don't remember from the work session, were these primarily for Lucy? >> They're primarily for the purpose of a problem when we acquire Lucy to be able to outfit it. Yes. >> So, primarily for Lucy. >> Primarily. Yes. >> Any other questions? All right. Roll call, please. Cody Childress. >> Hi. >> Barbara Halbert. >> Hi. >> Amanda Compton. >> No. >> Chris Densson. >> Hi. >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi. >> Debbie Clifton. >> I. >> Barbara Gray. >> I. All right. That motion carries. Item number 16 is recommended approval to purchase audio enhancement equipment from Central Technologies, Inc. under county contract number
044011522 SCS for a cost of 152,656.19. Funding has been identified in the FY26 general fund budget. I >> entertain a motion. >> So moved >> Mr. Densen and second by Mr. Childress. All right, Mr. Lancaster. This is going to serve as a uh intercom system for >> Lucy Elementary. It's going to have four speakers in every room. It's also going to serve as two other functions, an audio uplift for teachers to be able to utilize save their voice and be able to have hearing throughout the classroom. And a third function of life safety. have a panic button on the device as well that they can panic and call the front office for help. >> Mr. Lancaster, you addressed this during the work session, but I think it'd be good to to state it again publicly.
045Um, why are you purchasing this now when the school's not going to open for quite some time? >> We're purchasing it now. We have the funds right now to purchase it versus in the next upcoming years when we have a will come new for uh the MIS renovation project and uh the other funds that >> I also remember you mentioning the the length the time it needs for installation. >> Yeah, there's a huge lead time on these components right now as well. >> That's what I understood as part of it. So when we take possession, you can immediately have it secured very very closely. >> There is and that's one of the major reasons as well. Right now there's a huge lead time on just about everybody out there is >> and also would play
046a role to Lucy the 27 28 school year you wouldn't be able to purchase these things until after the next budget season. So you'd have to purchase them in July one and school's going to start first or second week of August. So it only makes sense to take care of this now. >> That's right. and our vendors are all going to be installing at every other school district all the equipment there too. Making those tight turns is we'd rather just go ahead and have a long runway that we can get these things installed and done right and with vendor pricing of a school year project versus a summer project. >> Any other questions for Mr. Lancaster? All right. All good information. Thank you. Roll call, please. >> Barbara Halbert. >> Hi. >> Amanda Compton. >>
047Hi. >> Chris Densson. >> Hi. >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi. >> Debbie Clipton. >> I. >> Barbara Gray. >> I. >> Cody Childress. >> Hi. >> All right. That motion carries. Item number 17 is recommended approval of modification of board of education policy in one reading 2.10 fiscal management goals. So move by Miss Gray second by Dr. Compton, Mr. Griffin. >> Uh this is uh brought up to the policy committee and we discussed about using possibility of us using uh reserve funds to better our school district. uh we wanted to make sure that we understood the the parameters on that as you can see in the reading with reserve funds. Uh the reserve recognizes the need to maintain an operating reserve and the general purpose school fund for the following purposes. One is hold adequate
048working capital to meet cash flow needs during the fiscal year. Reduce the need for short-term borrowing. Serve as a safeguard for unanticipated expenses. Show fiscal responsibility to maintain a a high credit rating with which will help reduce future borrowing costs and the board of education shall emphasize on maintaining an unrestricted fund balance in the general purpose fund to an amount equal to approximately 40% of the general fund uh operating budget expenditures. At the close of each budget year, any excessive excess of revenues over expenditures that will increase the community unrestricted fund balance above the established target amount will be recorded as a restricted reserve amount. Excuse me, restricted reserve account available for appropriation by the board of education for one-time expenditures. It just lays the ground rules for what you can and cannot use our
049reserve fund. It's not a rainy day. It is an emergency fund. So just wanted to put that into writing where we move forward. >> Any questions or comments? >> We discussed this at the work session, but I want to repeat this again. Um what I stated there, I'm not in favor of this policy. I am in favor of high reserves. I have um enough confidence in my board members and in future board members as part of the budget process to make this as a fluid annual decision. I do not think that we should put a percentage in policy. It should be something that we are forced to discuss every single year whether or not we need to fund current capital needs or hold reserves. So I don't disagree with it all in at all in
050philosophy, but I do not think it should be in a policy. I'll also state that TSBA did not recommend a specific policy. Being a small district, it is prudent for us to maintain maintain a high balance, but I believe this should be part of an annual discussion as part of the budget process that's in place and it should not be memorialized in a policy. >> Any other comments? >> So, I've got a question. So, the the line that says the board of education shall place emphasis on maintaining those words right there don't hold us to anything, right? >> Correct. It's not a requirement. >> Okay. I was just Yeah, I just wanted to make sure I understood it correctly. Okay. Thank you. I mean, I think that that um I'm glad that you called that
051language out because it does give you flexibility because you're placing emphasis on the the 40% amount, which I think also helps to um in some instances sort of not necessarily force, but it encourages discussion during the budget process and and any other time that there's discussion that comes up up about funding. Um having a number helps to encourage that discussion because you're at least thinking about um what that that number looks like. So um it helps to have I think to have some target. Any other comments, questions, thoughts? All right, roll call, please. Amanda Compton. >> Hi. >> Chris Stson. Hi. >> Teresa Cook. >> No. Debbie Clifton I >> Former Gray I >> Cody Childress I >> Former Hellberg I >> All right, that motion carries. Um item number 18 is the end. I
052don't think there's anything that we need to say before. Welcome back again, Miss Marissa. We're glad to have you back. Um motion to adjurnn. Before we do that, I just realized uh I just wanted to share this. I got this from Mr. Griffin. I went to him and we were talking about CTE programs. So, I know when this board first started, Cody Childris was a big proponent of pushing CTE and and really uh supporting those programs. And so, Cody, I think you would appreciate what I'm about to say because what I asked Mr. Griffin, he said, "Sure, I'll print it off." And he handed it to me and and the MCHS CTE enrollment status as of now that it could have changed this week. You never know, but as of when I got this after
053a meeting, the total enrolled amount is 83% of our high school 83% of our our ninth grade out of 227 students has 189. Our 10th grade has 189 students, 165 are enrolled. Our 11th grade out of 177 students, 138. In 12th grade, out of 196 students, we have 166 enrolled. So that total out of 789 total students in high school, not middle, but high, is 658 enrolled. That's incredible. That's incredible. But it gets better because when we started in 21 uh this just goes back to 21. It's talking about industry credentials. Now I won't read everything but in 2122 we had 151 credentials. >> 2223 we had 236 credentials. In 2324 we had 387 credentials. Last year 2425 we had 428 credentials and as of December 25th so we're not even through right there was
054already 276 and that's a direct pace to have over 500 this year >> in in industry credentials. I just thought that was such an incredible thing we rarely share and I thank you for sharing this with me. I wasn't trying to hold it. When I got it, I realized I still had this in my folder. And I think it's a huge compliment to what the board started to say. We're going to have academic ready and job ready. And then we we go to our third. If we look at our tiers which is our NJOTC and our NJOTC program recents we have 186 Navy NJTC cadetses and that's 23% of our school's population. It's incredible. It's like one out of every four. I'm budging 2%. Y'all will forgive me for that. Instead of going down I
055went up. But I think that's incredible. That shows that we have academics, we have the other, right? So, career ready and we have military ready if they so desire to go there. And a big kudos to to you and your staff to you. I point to you. I don't see any JRTC people. So, Mr. Perry has to tell them how much I appreciate them because I think that's incredible for this size school district to be able to to really tell that again 83% of our kids are you know their credential and can go to work. So big props to you and your classmates have something to be very proud of. That's all I wanted to say. I just wanted to have a pop, you know, a positive about something I think it's just been incredible
056growth. Thank you for sharing that. >> Back in 2013, late 2013 before school system, that was a big concern. >> Uh if you went into the shop area over there, it looked like someone had blasted holes in the roof of a shotgun. I mean, when it rained, I mean, it rained as much inside as it did outside. And the television equipment and things that they used to have over there, you know, you had to keep it dry and what have you. But uh over the years, especially the last, you know, three or four or five years, uh we've we've exploded and and I give a lot of credit to Mr. Block. You you've been a driving force and uh the heartbeat of the CTE program. I want to thank you for that. >> It's a
057great note to end on. Very good. Thank you, Mr. Dson, for sharing and Mr. Childress for your role as a pioneer started. appreciate it. I don't know if you've ever been called a pioneer before. >> You got it. >> Not a thanks, but not a pioneer. Well, this is a good one. All right. Thank you. All right. I'll entertain a motion to adjurnn. >> Motion by Mr. Childress. >> Second by everybody. I'll give it to Dr. All in favor. Any opposed? All right. Thanks everybody. Have a good night.
