What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that their peers see these same qualities every day. Their leadership, their heart, and the excellence they bring to their work. Each of them exemplifies our theme for this year. Excellence is a standard, not a goal. and they set that standard through the way they teach, lead, and serve our community. Uh just for quick reminder, uh please we w we will be in school tomorrow. I've already had three texts. We will we will be in school tomorrow. So, sorry about that. Uh want to thank uh real quick like to take take this time to thank the board of
alderman in the city of Millington for their additional $250,000 that they gave to the school district to make much needed repairs at the primary school for the parking lot. Thank them for that. Also want to remind everybody it's a very busy holiday season. Uh there's a lot going on. Please check your your students websites, not only for the events, but also for uh the sporting events going on. Uh other than that, I have just want to wish everybody a very merry Christmas and happy holidays. >> Perfect. Thank you. Thank you very much. Uh next item on the agenda is the public comments. I hope none received. Entertain a
motion to close. >> So move. >> Mr. Childress with the motion. >> Miss Hallebertton with the second. All those in favor? >> I [clears throat] >> against? None. Next item on the agenda is number nine. Recommended approval of a one-time bonus in the amount of 500 to every eligible employee. Need a motion and a second. >> So move. >> Second. >> Okay. Was that Miss Gray? >> Miss Gray with the motion. Mr. Childress with the second. >> Yes, sir. I just want to uh first and foremost want to let all employees know that that will be a you will be receiving if the vote passes here in just a second, $500. That's after taxes. So, I want you to be aware of that and just want to thank the board for this opportunity to uh
take care of our staff. Thank you very much. >> That's awesome. I'd like to make a motion to amend item nine. I'd like to make a motion to amend this to recommend approval of a one-time bonus of 250 to every eligible part-time employee and 500 to every eligible full-time employee. So, we have a motion. We'll need either a We'll need a second with no second. That motion does not pass. So, we are going to have the vote will be >> um Mr. Chair, I I need to interject something. Um according to Millington Municipal Schools policy 1.107, it's necessary for me to go on record that I have people in my family who would benefit from these bonuses. I'm indirectly involved in the situation, but I need to disclose the information to my colleagues for the
record. Thank you. >> Thank you for that transparency, and we'll note that according to our policy, there's no conflict for you to vote in this circumstance. They're not in your direct household, but thank you for the transparency. >> All right. So, this vote will be for the recommended approval of a one-time bonus in the amount of $500 to every eligible employee. And as Mr. Griffin said that'll be 500 after taxes. So if there's no further questions, comments, roll call. >> Barbara Hallebertton, >> I. >> Amanda Compton, >> I. >> Chris Densson, >> I. >> Teresa Cook, >> I. >> Debbie Clifton, >> I. >> Barbara Gray, >> I. >> Cody Childress, >> I. >> Fantastic. That motion passes. The next item on the agenda is the recommended approval of the 2026 27 MMSD instructional calendar.
We'll need a motion and a second. >> So moved. >> Dr. Compton with the motion. >> Miss Clifford with the second. >> I saw the thumbs up. We'll go we'll go with that. I believe we got an updated version of that. So, if you have any questions, comments, >> the only update was that we uh accidentally had the students and the staff out on a uh professional development day, but also just want everybody to realize this is still uh pertinent on the state passing this. So, this is step one or two. >> That's good. I couldn't find a mistake. >> All right. If there's no comments, roll call, please. >> Amanda Compton. >> Hi. Chris Densson. >> Hi, >> Teresa Cook. >> Hi, >> Debbie Clifton. >> I >> Barbara Gray, >> I >> Cody
Childress, >> I >> Barbara Hallebertton, >> I. >> Awesome. Motion passes. Next item on the agenda is the recommended approval of modification of board of education policies in one reading. This is policy 4.202 special education and 6.319 alternative education. We'll need a motion and a second. >> So move. >> Miss Gray with the motion, Dr. Compton with the second. >> Any comments or concerns? I know we went over that. Fantastic. We'll make this one simple. All those in favor say I. >> I. Oppose. >> There are none. That motion passes. Next item on the agenda is pursuant to the terms of the Millington Municipal School District director of schools employment contract. This is the discussion of a financial bonus for fiscal year 25 performance. We'll need a motion and a second. >> So move. >>
Mr. Childress with the motion. >> Second. >> Miss Gray with a second. There's the discussion. So >> 8% that we did last year. >> So last year uh yes last year after the evaluation period uh we voted on uh this same bonus it was amended to 8% for last year. So it's up to 10% when you hit the threshold of bless you when you hit the threshold of four. So that's the threshold. It's not three, it's a four and then it's up to 10%. Last year was eight. >> Didn't we do a 50% bonus last year and give 8,000? >> What was the dollar amount? >> It was 8%. >> 8%. Yeah. We the contract is stipulated by percentage, not dollar amount. So, >> but it was 8% where the total eligible was 10. >>
Total eligible was 10 >> and so we did 8%. >> So, we went 8%. Correct. There was an original motion for 10. There was an amended motion for eight and we voted on and passed eight. >> I like to make a motion that we go back with 8%. >> So, you make you're making a motion to amend this to an 8%. Correct. >> Well, we made we made the motion to pursue the discussion. So, we have to make a motion to vote on a percentage. That's just a discussion. It doesn't tell us any >> Can I add another item with the discussion? >> Say it again. >> May I add another item with the discussion? >> Sure. You You're welcome. But we have to he There's a motion on the floor. He made a motion
for 8% as the percentage for this bonus. So, we need a second >> and we'll need a second. I will second that. So, we have a motion and a second for 8%. And now your comments. >> We were at 4.23 last year and this year we're at 4.04. So, in my mind it doesn't make sense for the amount to be the same if we actually had a decrease. So, that would be one point that I would make. The other point that I would make is with our scale, a 3.0 is meeting expectations. A four is exceeding. A five would be way over the top exceeding. And we're at a 4.04, which is just on the threshold of meeting expectations. For my evaluation of our director who provides us excellent leadership, I cannot support a bonus
this year because we are right at the beginning of that threshold. And for me there were some areas that exceeded and some areas that did not. Overall I'm very satisfied but I'm do not believe we are at a threat at a point where we are needed to have a bonus. I'd like to see more movement in our academics. >> Comment noted any other comments? >> Um Mr. Chair I um I also had I have met with Mr. Griffin privately um to share my concerns and why I cannot support the bonus, but I would rather share that with him and and rather than in this forum. >> Thank you. >> Noted. Any other comments? So, when I call to vote, here's what we're voting on. We're voting on >> Thank you. [laughter] >> I'll be very
clear. I'll let the comments go. Uh the vote as it stands right now is a 8% bonus for fiscal year 25 based on a fourpoint scale which the median is three exceeding is four and five is max. So for clarification four isn't meeting expectation it exceeds three is meeting. So, we're going to roll call on this amendment when she gets through notating the notes. You ready? Roll call. >> Teresa Cook, >> no. >> Debbie Clifton, >> no. >> Barbara Gray, >> hi. >> Cody Childress, >> hi. >> Barbara Hallebertton, >> no. Amanda Compton, >> no. >> Chris Densson, >> yes. I >> So that motion doesn't pass. That's it. Next item on agenda is to adjourn. We need a motion and a second. Well, before we adjourn, I just want to remind everybody uh the
Millington Educational Foundation is uh supporting on the 13th. Say it again. >> On on the 13th of December, uh Christmas with the pages right here in the pack. Uh I think the tickets are at $20, but uh 40% of the gate regardless is going to go to the educational foundation and the rest covers the cost of the program. Um we have 500 tickets that are available and that is the 13th of December. >> 13th of December. >> And I believe that's at 6 pm. >> But uh we would really like to pack this place out. The educational foundation uh gives our teachers I forgot how much it was they gave them last year over 13,000. And these teachers use this they don't use it for their personal gain. They use it to buy supplies uh
and things for their their kids which is a whole another subject. They shouldn't have to do that but they are using that money like that. >> That's awesome. >> And uh so it it goes a long way. uh in the program and I would really like to see this place packed out. It'd be a good family program and uh get everybody in the Christmas spirit and uh all for a good cause at the same time. >> And merry Christmas everybody. >> So that page is actually Kevin Page for those. >> Yeah. >> And I believe his wife, >> but I know Kevin Paige. >> Just for the record, I will not be able to attend that. My daughter is getting married on that night. So I think I better be at the wedding. So >>
absolutely >> reason for that. >> Absolutely >> priorities. >> Congratulations to that. >> Will kill you. >> All right. Any other comments or Yeah. comments? Nope. Need a motion and a second to adjurnn. >> So moved. >> Miss Allebertton with the motion. >> Second with I think Debbie. Miss Lton. Yep. Yep. >> All right. All those in favor say I. I. >> I. Oppose. There are none. Motion passes. We're done.
